The vague time-skip between Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom is so interesting to me. People say it's been seven years as a homage to Ocarina of Time. Others say it's more like three to five.
Personally, I think it's a lot more, and the reason why, is because of 1) Purah's aging and 2) Link's "Tony Hawk" status.
Now, I get it, the two don't seem exactly related, but ask yourself this one question: How exactly did Purah age herself?
In Breath of the Wild, we learn through her diary that she tested the beta rune for anti-aging and it did its job a little too well. So well, that she considers making its counterpart, an aging rune. Notwithstanding all the ethical implications of age manipulation, Purah could have very well aged herself over the course of a few years, if we include the time it took to research the rune, plus the testing of its functionality.
But what if she didn't?
I know you're reading this with doubt. It's Purah. She's going to do it. Hear me out.
In her diary, Purah wrote that she had accidentally reversed 70 years of her life over one night. It led her to fear that she would become a newborn baby. She had every right to be scared. All that she has learned in her lifetime, gone, just like that. Can you imagine, then, how daunting the prospect of aging oneself would be? What if she accidentally aged too quickly, with a deteriorated mind that could no longer keep track of all that she has learned and discovered? Even worse, what if she goes too far and dies? The Sheikah are no exceptions to death. With anti-aging, the risk was having to relearn everything from birth. With aging, the risk is not being able to learn at all. Mad scientist that she is, she wouldn't take those chances. Even the strongest calculations would still show a margin of error that is too high to look over. She's not invincible.
So let her age naturally. What does that tell us?
Disregarding her mental age of 124 (the oldest of the Sheikah, ignoring all Sheikah monks), Purah was physically six years old in Breath of the Wild. If we assume her form in Tears of the Kingdom is equivalent to the form of her 24 year old self in Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity...
18 years have passed.
There's a lot to be said about how Zelda and Link don't look like they've aged at all, but that's not the important part. The important part is that Link, Hero of the Wild, hasn't had to save the world in almost two decades. Look at yourself from eighteen, twenty years ago and look in the mirror. Do you recognize yourself? Maybe, maybe not. But the differences are striking, aren't they?
I think that's it. That's why the people of Hyrule don't recognize him.

One thing I love about Sooga that I realized earlier today is that that whole thing about “A message that concerns Zelda’s impending death” was just him testing the waters to make sure Astor’s words held some truth and Master Kohga wasn’t just being manipulated by some random schmuck off the road (Hence “I suppose destiny is at work then”)
And Master Kohga wasn’t with him either, nor is he ever shown to be aware of what went down, so this was an attack led exclusively by Sooga

I originally wasn't gonna post this since it was a gift for a friend because they were feeling down, but I decided "Why not?". So here's the Sheikah sisters hugging. I don't know why Impa is sad, but at least Purah is there to help her feel better.
I couldn't help Impa's hair clipping because there's no way for me to actually move her hair on this model. Their sleeves are difficult sometimes too.
Also, debut of my new watermark!

lovers to enemies with sooga
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
pairing: sooga x gn!reader
tags: angst, lies, reader works at hyrule castle, attempted murder
Tumblr media
sooga always had been a good man
he treated you with respect, loved you unconditionally and you could see a future with years of happiness ahead for the two of you
and yet, you didn't actually know sooga
you only thought you did, but there were things he was keeping from you, ever since the two of you first met
you worked at hyrule castle, which is where you first met him and it was almost love at first sight
just a few words exchanged and you already knew you wouldn't be able to forget this man ever again
the two of you kept running into each other in the castle, leading you to believe he worked there as well, yet never questioning it
but while you worked closely together with princess zelda and helped her with her research, sooga had come to the castle to assassinate the princess
that had been his plan when he got there the first time, but then he ran into you
and while sooga only got closer to you to assassinate the princess, he ended up falling in love with you, even wanting to leave the yiga clan
but he couldn't do it. in the end, he had to choose between killing the princess or you
and so, he went to the castle one more time, this time disguised as a member of the yiga clan, to finish his job
though a brave knight protected the princess and during the fight, sooga's mask cracked
he had failed his mission and as he ran out of the castle, everything only got worse for him, as he ran into you
at first, you only saw him as the man who attacked the princess. then you noticed the crack in the mask and recognized the man you love…
still in shock, sooga pulls his weapon as he notices you recognized him, only to drop it a moment later
he didn't want to hurt you! that's why he did all of this in the first place…
but it was already too late. you were unharmed, yet you were still hurting because of him
with tears in your eyes, you told him to leave. to never return to you and never show his face again
and while a part of you may have hoped he'd try to explain himself or come visit you again, he never did
that was the last time you saw sooga, yet you weren't able to ever forget him
he might have done bad things, but he wasn't a bad person. only what he did was bad, but he was still a good man, that your heart still belonged to…

Thoughts on Sooga?
Oh you mean that giant hulking mass of a man with the loyalty of a golden retriever and the ability to probably split a tree with his bare hands? Love him.
Here’s a few headcanons I have:
He’s a great listener. He’s the strong silent type, for sure, but given his Yiga lineage, he's learned that listening carefully (be it when someone's talking or in your surroundings) is the best way to have the upper hand. In this case, it would be having the upper hand on being someone you can trust.
His favorite banana-made food item is a banana upside down cake.
Has carried Master Kohga on his back more times than he can count. Keeps himself in the best of shape in order to do so because Master Kohga is NOT light.
The deep cut in his mask was left from the only person other than Link to be able to get any sort of hit on him. A former Yiga, who, in a blind fit of rage at the death of his wife (Sooga's doing by orders of Master Kohga in recompense for treason), hurled his eightfold longblade at Sooga's head before being restrained.
Meditates on top of the Gerudo Highland mountains every morning in order to start his day.

My last round of celeb shots from MegaCon comes in the form of someone who definitely reached me on an emotional journey from the land of Hyrule. Honored to have shared a spot with Patricia Summersett, the voice of Princess Zelda in Breath of the Wild, Age of Calamity, AND Tears of the Kingdom!
Can't deny that out of all iterations of Zelda, hers was the one that I got pretty attached to the most, and that is in large part of Patricia's performance. Drove someone like me to do everything in my power to put in all the time and effort to make sure Zelda would be rescued right and properly. Even told her about how distraught I was when I learned about Zelda's fate in TOTK caused me to put the game down for 3 days.
Still, this was one of those encounters that made the trip to Orlando worth it. Even got a print signed with a message partially written in Hylian! Didn't even know that was a thing, or that she could pull it off!
There definitely won't be another Zelda as great as hers, and I'm glad to have crossed paths with the best Princess in the land!

In a recent IGN interview with Zelda Producer Eiji Aonuma, he was asked when they decided during development that Zelda would transform into a dragon. Pretty wild but at the same time saddening at the same time.
Tumblr media
Now here are the big questions: Is the Light Dragon exist in the Age of Calamity Alternate Timeline? And where she in Breath of the Wild since there are now two Zeldas? One is her current dragon form… and the other is her past counterpart.

[THEY ARE MY FRIENDS TOO!]
It was supposed to be posted on May 5th as another Impa's birthday special, but then I was very busy with the comics. Now, I can take time for myself to draw concept art that will help in the promotion of this AU.
So, context: it's been 15 years since the Great Calamity started. Impa, by that time, had already managed to acquire her own family and take a high position among the Sheikah fighters. She was no longer so worried about that fateful birthday, but she still missed her friends very much.
One day, Impa saw her 5 years-old daughter attentively examining two dirty and worn dolls that had previously been in a chest from the matrimonial bedroom.
«Mommy!» the girl exclaimed. «These dollies are so cute!»
«Be careful with them, sweetie.» Impa worried. «They are not just toys. They are... My friends»
The girl thought that her mother just once liked these toys so much that she considered them friends, so she said:
«Well, if these are your friends, they are my friends too.»
Impa only smiled in response and hugged her daughter, barely holding back her tears.
I could not think of a beautiful and sonorous name for her daughter. A variant of Haya, a derivative of "pitahaya", was considered, but I don't really like it. Maybe you will have some ideas?
《Last year special]
