the last anon got me thinking about the hypsif crossover, I’m also still emotional after watching the aqours 5th live streams so here (´,,•ω•,,)♡
Ruby and Saburo watch the 5th live together... and something is in the works!
“What did you think?!” Ruby leaped off the couch to take out the DVD of Aqours 5th live she and Saburo had just finished watching. “It was totally sparkling, right?”
“It was really impressive! I don’t know how you can perform to that high of a standard for hours…” Saburo started at the blank screen in awe.
“Ehehe! Just a lot of practice and hard work!” Ruby’s excitement faded after she saw Saburo’s expression. “What’s wrong? Are you okay?”
“Ah, yes. I was just thinking about the encore. Um… Did you write Sakura Bye Bye?” A song performed by CYaRon about seeing their friends off for graduation. The bittersweet themes of the song were a little melancholy for Ruby, but he knew she was always honest about her feelings.
“W-well, Chika and You helped a lot! But yes… I wrote it for Dia. I really love that we can be school idols together, and in the same school! And I know that it can’t last forever. It hurts, but that’s what makes it so special, right?” Ruby tried to hold back a sob. “I know I shouldn’t be that sad. I’m more happy than anything.”
“Happy?”
“Mm! Happy that we could experience this! As sisters!” Ruby looked lively again.
Saburo set down the penlight he’d been waving during the show and thought to himself. What experiences did he have with his brothers? Something in common that they all wanted? Sure, there were the rap battles and all the after-school practice sessions, but that was something they were more forced into. Playing board games together and going out for the day were always nice, but they were one-off occasions. Was there something they could work towards together? Something that they were proud to work on, without any threats or fighting but just the thrill of progress and success?
“Saburo?”
He realised he was spaced out and looking at the penlight. Ichiro was no longer in school, but next year Saburo would enter his first year of high school and Jiro his third, and maybe the same one as Jiro too. An idea crossed his mind, but he thought to ask an expert before making rash decisions.
“Ruby, what’s it like being a school idol?”
“It’s so fun! I love seeing me and my friends get better every day! At first I didn’t think I had the guts to be one, but I never regretted it! There’s a lot of hard work that goes into it, but seeing the smiles of everyone on stage and in the audience is totally worth it! I’m so happy that Aqours’ message has reached all across Japan! No, the world! There’s a lot of focus that goes into performing, but one time I made eye contact with Hanamaru during one of our first live shows, and I could tell that she was really happy! Oh, and the MC sections are really fun! One time I said ‘Buu Buu Desu Wa’! Dia pretended to be mad, but it was really funny!” Ruby’s speech trailed off into laughter.
“It’s like that, huh.”
“Why did you ask? Do you know someone who wants to be a school idol?”
“…Yes.”

the new hypsif crossover crew make their first appearance! today the group reflect on their friendship~
*click*
Nozomi giggled and turned to the group behind her. “Ehe! How nice of Mr Amaguni to check up on us.” She noticed that everyone was more solemn than they were on the video call. “Hm? Guys, what’s up?”
Kuko walked to the front of the group, prompting everyone to continue on their path along the waterfront. He popped his bubblegum loudly before speaking up, “Nothing’s wrong, Nozo. Did you not notice its gettin dark? You guys have gotta go home soon, right? Got school and all that.”
Even Mari didn’t look like her usual self. But quickly noticing the gloom in the air, she tried to lift everyone’s spirits. “Hey! What are the long faces for, hm? We hang out like this, like all the time now! It’s such a sunny feeling~!” She hopped to the centre of everyone’s attention, beaming a smile at them all. “Is there something I’m missing?”
Jyushi started talking in his normal voice, “Mari… I don’t really know but…” then cleared his throat to speak in his deeper voice, “The tides that separate the waters of our hearts are closing in thanks to the moon that we seek for guidance.” There was a brief silence. “I mean, trusting in the motions of water was the right way to go.”
“Oi, what the fuck are you talking about?”
“Kuko! Such language…”
Kuko laughed off Nozomi’s scolding. “For real though, are you trying to be sentimental? Because you just sound weird.”
“I think what he said was super shiny~! Hmm… I think I’ve dealt with Yohane enough to try and decipher this… You’re saying that our friendship has naturally bloomed! But I don’t really know what the moon stuff is about.”
“Mari, young child of the shiny stars, well done. What I meant by th-”
“Shut it! We don’t need to hear all that sappy stuff, and we don’t have the time! The girls have gotta go home and…” Kuko’s pouty face betrayed his snappy tone.
“Oh, Kuko~ Has our friendship made you sappy?” Mari took a running leap to hug Kuko, and he caught her with ease. He tried to shake her off but he wasn’t letting go either. “Your heart is so shiny, Kuko!”
“Shiny?! Ugh…” He tried to protest but stopped himself from speaking.
Jyushi tiptoed towards them and braced himself. He looked to Nozomi, who gave him a reassuring nod before he started speaking. “Don’t be mean to Mari! And what I meant by-”
“Yeah, yeah.” Kuko managed to pry Mari off him. “Let’s go.”
He tried to set off before Nozomi caught everyone’s attention. “Hey!” They snapped to her direction. “I want to hear what Jyushi was about to say.”
Jyushi stammered as the attention was pointed at him. “I-I just meant that. Um. The waves are us all, and waves can be wild sometimes. And the moon guides the waves, right? And, and… that moon is Nozomi!”
“Me? I don’t do anything special, y’know.”
“Y-yeah! You’re like the moon that brings the tides together. Or the glue that holds us together!”
Kuko scoffed at Jyushi but couldn’t deny it. “He’s right. You do a lot for us, Nozo. Like organising our trips out, and helping us out when we get lost and shit.”
“You guys…” Nozomi flushed a little at the compliments.
“Mm!” Mari hugged her from the side. “We love you, Nozomi!”
The two boys laughed and joined in on the hug. And no one wanted to let go.
