summary: an offer comes in for a variety show, but the premise is a little shocking for hyojung
date: early december
word count: 470 words
ooc note: aka a look into hyojung and her thoughts on relationships 101
“a bunch of exes, really? and they all said okay to this?”
when her manager lays out the premise of this new variety show that’s come onto her desk, she’s shocked to say the least. while she was aware that not everybody followed her standards when it came to relationships, she thinks it’s almost bizarre that anybody would want to be on a dating program that involved their ex. perhaps they all ended on good terms?
even so, she’s not sure if she could ever appear on such a program. it’s why she’s surprised when the offer comes to her. though, seeing that it’s coming from tvN, she’s actually not too startled. it made sense, didn’t it? yumi’s cells had done better than expected on the same tv station so having her as a panel almost felt like a connection. yumi had broken up with woong, and her story was to be continued which was the case for most of the people who’d be appearing on the show.
her manager continues to go into the logistics of the program, but hyojung’s still caught up on the entire premise. it’s completely bizarre, and she simply can’t wrap her head around the fact that they’d be okay with it. if someone were to ask her to appear on such a show, she’d scoff and ignore them forever.
she’s flipping through the script that’s handed to her. there’s not much on there since the panels will be reacting to the couples—ex-couples may be more accurate—but there’s a brief layout. and by brief, it’s very brief. there’s almost nothing there except the names of staff members, and the fact that there will be four pairs of exes.
it’s not her first rodeo, so she understands what her role as a panelist will be. they want real, live reactions which is why she’s going to have to walk into this completely blind. hyojung’s always been an empathetic person, but she thinks she’ll have to listen to these people to truly understand their thought process. at the moment, she’s just confused and bewildered by their decisions. nevertheless, she’s sure they all had their reasons, whatever it may be.
it’s also pretty clear what kind of role they want her to play. she’s been typecasted as the romantic female lead for a while now, so they probably want to hear her thoughts. connect it to her roles and perhaps her actual real life relationships. she’ll be the soft-spoken, always warm panelist that walks into the shoes of the couples. it’s not a hard role to play, and she knows herself. she knows that once the program actually starts, it won’t be difficult to get immersed into it.
that’s why she says yes despite not understanding the program until the very end. there’s always a first for everything.
