"Hyunjin! You also have to add the white sugar to the butter mix!" Y/n exclaimed in an urgent tone to stop Hyunjin from turning on the blender.

He looked at his girl with wide open eyes. "We had to?" He questioned in disbelief. Y/n smiled sweetly at the man she loved so much. "Yes, we need to, darling." He nodded smiling sheepisly, doing what his girlfriend told him to.

Christmas is approaching and Hyunjin and Y/n are doing the most christmas-y thing in the world, and that is preparing christmas cookies! And to this far, it hasn't been a complete mess. At least not yet.

After the dough was made, Jinnie took up the task to roll out the dough and Y/n was set to cut out the pieces.

It wasn't that he was not able to do the job, but he appeared to be pressing too soft or too hard at some places. In conclusion, the dough was uneven.

Y/n had some idea that this would happen. So, she just stood by his side, a smile playing on her lips. She didn't have the heart to deny him to do the work. Hyunjin seemed to be too excited to bake cookies as well. And she was willing to switch tasks to make her love happy.

Awhile later, Hyunjin looked up at her, an embarrassed smile. "I messed up didn't I?"

She shook her head, smiling. "It's okay. Want to switch places?" She asked.

He lit up in an instant on hearing the offer. "You sure?"

"Of course we can. You can cut the cookies instead." Y/n smiled lovingly. Jinnie smiled, stepping aside from the rolled dough, letting Y/n take over the task.

And that way, things went more smoothly. Y/n rolled the dough to the perfect quarter inch and Hyunjin cut out the cookies. While the cookies were baking in the oven, they prepared the royal icing.

Surprisingly, Jinnie was a pro at making the royal icing. "Where did you learn to make the icing that well?" Y/n asked, standing behind Hyunjin, her hands snaked up in the front of his chest. "Uhhh, I used to see my mom make this. And I made it a few times too!" He said just like a kid telling his mother about his day at school. In such a cheerful manner that made Y/n kiss his cheeks. "You're adorable."

"I know right?" She laughed, punching him softly.

The oven pinged, telling them the cookies were done. Y/n was over excited to see the cookies that she went to take them out of the oven without a mitten. Before Hyun could stop her, she had touched the tray and Y/n was holding her hands tightly, jumping up and down. Hyun ran to her side, gently holding her hands. He pulled her to the sink, rinsing her hands with cold water. After a minute or two, he pulled her hands from under the water, blowing gently.

"You okay, 아기?"

You nodded. It was just half a second that you had touched the tray. It was actually fine. You were used to these kind of small injuries.

"You sure you're okay, love?" Hyun asked concern clearly etched over his face. You smiled. "Yeah. I'm fine its nothing." He nodded, kissing your hands. "There, there. It's fine now." He winked smilingly.

The two decorate the cookies together, having the  fun of their lives. In an hour or two, the cookies were done and ready. Hyun was clicking pictures of the cookies, prepared to show off his and his girl's cooking skills to the boys.

He turned to Y/n all of a sudden, staring at her with wide eyes. Y/n noticed, "What?" She smiled.

"Y/n I just realised something!"

"Ansd that is?" She quirked an eyebrow, telling him to go on.

"I realized how deeply I am in love with you, Y/n L/n", he smiled.

Y/n smiled as well. "And I love you too, Hwang Hyunjin," She placed a sweet peck on Hyun's lips, "till my last breath."

Hallmark Releases Its First Fiction Podcast

Sometimes brand extensions make no sense but seem a greedy way to make more money and extract the core of a brand. Do we really need 20 kinds of jelly? Or 14 kinds of spaghetti sauce? However, smart companies find ways to logically extend their brand that make financial sense and enhance the value of their product or service to their customers.

That is the case with Hallmark Channel's move into fiction podcasts. It makes sense. The company is adept at presenting such material, and romantic fiction is its special sauce. So it was not a surprise when Hallmark Media launched its first scripted podcast, Crimson Hearts Collide, billed as “a soulful romance-mystery story spun from the company’s Mahogany content initiative.” The eight-part podcast series, produced by Aliza Rosen’s AYR Media, premiered its first two episodes on August 24, followed by new episodes every Thursday. The cast of “Crimson Hearts Collide” includes Malinda Williams (“Soul Food”), Amanda Seales (“Insecure”), and Keith D. Robinson (“Sister Swap: A Hometown Holiday”). The podcast’s plotline: Sonora Williams (Williams), a top lawyer in New York City, receives a letter in the mail that changes everything: Sonora has an uncle who just passed away and left her an inheritance, a farm in Alabama. For her entire life growing up in foster care, she was told she had no family, leaving her to wonder if he knew about her, why did he not come for her? In order to get the answers she seeks, Sonora must leave her best friend in NYC (Seales) and close-knit community to travel to Greenville, Ala., and meet the people who keep the farm running – including the handsome cowboy Zeke Summers (Robinson), who immediately captures her attention. (Pictured above: Malinda Williams, Keith D. Robinson) I listened to the first episode, and the podcast is well done. It's standard Hallmark fare, and if you're a fan, the fiction podcast will definitely meet your expectations. The first two episodes average 37 minutes, which is perfect, I believe, for a fiction podcast. After all, TV hour-long dramas are about 41 minutes when all the commercials are deducted from the running time. 

There are also Hallmark Channel rewatch podcasts that deserve attention from dedicated Hallmark fans, especially those who love Christmas movies.

Deck The Hallmark blends comedy, wit, and a Hallmark chill vibe. My favorite is a new podcast called Hallmark Junkies. Co-hosted by Kerri, a published romance novelist (Is there a more appropriate job for a Hallmark Movie critic?) and Jenny, her BFF and self-anointed Hallmark junkie, the podcast is funny, insightful, and informative.

The show, which began in mid-July, has released seven episodes so far, my favorite being the one on the 2022 movie, Three Wise Men And A Baby. On that episode, we learn that fans of Hallmark Christmas actor extraordinaire Tyler Hynes are called "Hynies." We also learn that Kerri and Jenny were hoping that in the film's opening scene, where Hallmark hunk Andrew Walker appears with only a towel on, the towel would somehow slip off and expose Walker's Christmas tree. 

Sure, this isn't earth-shattering stuff, but for Hallmark Christmas fans, it's delectable and delightful. The podcast is a faithful rewatch show with a healthy dose of wit, humor, fun facts, legitimate criticism, and friendship bonds.
