I’m a Trailmakers player, one of my top 5 games easily, a block based vehicle building sandbox, and it’s one of the few I’ve found with really nice buoyancy and lift mechanics.
I’m telling you all this because I wanna brag about the fact that I’m 22nd in the world on one of the boat races right now with a sub 1 minute lap and the jet boat I made is super pretty. 530kph in a straight line and handles like it’s on rails.
It has an airliner turbine behind the cockpit, which pushes it forward and down, and the two paddles on the front skids hold it up off the water on hydroplane. There are two more in the back that act more as an elevator, holding the back end up and balanced on the front planes. Two points of contact with the water, super streamlined body, minimal drag.
The Cat's Miaow and Rocketship are putting out a split single of new music. There's a total of 5 songs here - 3 from Melbourne, Australia based The Cat's Miaow who along with Portland's Rocketship were active in the 1990s and are in the midst of comebacks. The Rocketship song available is a lovely cover of "Moon Love". The Cat's Miaow and their alter ego Hydroplane are experiencing a bit of a renaissance. Bart Cummings also has released work under the moniker Bart & Friends.
The only thing cooler than this split 7" is the labels who are co-releasing it - Lost and Lonesome (Melbourne) and Jigsaw (Portland).
Huh? The Brilliantines YEAH!, crap doesnt get any better then that.
The Brilliantines Hydroplane B/W Red Eye To Nashville was realased in 1996 by the alternative rock band, The Brilliantines. Hydroplane is the opener on this one with the kickass motor engine opener. Then into the closer redeye to nashville, this is a great song, very slow buildup into the powerful chorus.
Remember the days of the old schoolyard? Remember when Myspace was a thing? Remember those time-wasting, laborious quizzes that everyone used to love so much? Birthday Cake For Breakfast is bringing them back!
Every couple of weeks, an unsuspecting band will be subject to the same old questions about dead bodies, Hitler, crying and crushes.
This Week: Off the back of releasing their debut EP…
1953 Motoscafo Arno XI-Ferrari in Enzo Ferrari Museum in Modena, Italy The Arno XI is a hydroplane inspired by Achille Castoldi in the early 1950s and built by the Cantiere Timossi boatyard, located in Azzano (a frazione of Mezzegra) on the Lake Como. Castoldi wanted to establish a world water speed record so he persuaded then Ferrari racing drivers Alberto Ascari and Luigi Villoresi to influence Enzo Ferrari to supply him with a 4.5-litre, V12 Ferrari engine; the same engine that gave Ferrari his first Grand Prix victory with the Ferrari 375 F1 at Silverstone Circuit in 1951. The engine was installed in a Timossi three-point racing hydroplane hull. Engine modifications Achille Castoldi managed to further increase horsepower by attaching two Roots volumetric compressors. The result was a 510 HP speedboat, which he used to hit a 150.19 mph (242.708 km/h) top speed in October 1953 on Lake Iseo. This world speed record for an 800 kg boat is still unbeaten, mainly because the category no longer exists. In 1954 it then passed into the hands of the pilot and engineer Nando dell'Orto who with the hydroplane established some other records, then the Arno XI ended up almost forgotten in a warehouse on the outskirts of Milan where it remained until the end of the nineties. Arno XI was later sold and raced in numerous competitions, finally retiring in 1960. It has since been restored and is expected to go for up for sale by RM Auctions for up to €1.5m. In 2021 the Arno XI is for sale again at an asking price of USD$12 Million. #ferrari #luxury #modena #scuderiaferrari #ferrarimuseum #ferrariclassic #museocasaenzoferrari #enzoferrari #classicboat #carmuseums #formulaone #ferrariheritage #italia #boat #racingboat #racingboats #hydroplane #worldspeedrecord #worldwaterspeedrecord #traveling #forzaferrari #ferrarilife #speedboat #cavallinorampante #travel #ferrariworld #prancinghorse #boats #boatsofinstagram #motorsport (at Museo Enzo Ferrari - Modena) https://www.instagram.com/p/CpgkxiBIxtt/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
