Yes! I’d love to talk about the good doctor: Alexandria Hypatia! Thank you much for the ask!

First Impression: My first impression of Hypatia came long before I actually got to play Dishonored 2 (mainly from the lab discord sever, honestly). But even having never met her I was super interested in her character! Especially the contrast between her personality and then Alex, that was always really interesting! It may have taken a bit of the surprise out of that mission, but I didn’t mind

Impression Now: I love her character even more now! She has slowly but surely worked her way up in my list of favorite Dishonored characters. She went through so much, especially concerning Grim Alex. But through all of that, and from the moment she was well enough, she was right back to being determined to help the people of Serkonos. And I just love how determined she is to help others and make sure people receive the medical care they needed! I do feel bad about how much she had to suffer through though, she definitely didn’t deserve that.

Favorite Moment: It’s not really a happy favorite moment, but I like that one audiograph (I believe?) that you can find about her wishing there was more she could do. She seems to only be aware that she’s having health issues (Alex), and she’s stuck in Addermire, but even then she’s so concerned about the workers and families who might be sick and unable to receive care. She seems like a very selfless person who genuinely cares for others, she’s just so set on helping wherever she can, and I love that

Idea for a Story: I was kinda stuck on this one for a bit, there’s a lot of potential for story ideas, but I blanked on what to go with. For a somewhat lighter story idea, perhaps, I’d like something with Hypatia, Lucia Pastor, and Aramis Stilton getting to be friends with one another. Hypatia seems like she would get along well with the both of them, and there’s the added factor that they’re all incredibly determined to help the miners, the workers, and their families. I could see a story consisting of the three of them working together to plot out how to best address the workers’ issues (though I suppose that’s implied from at least one of the council endings for dh2?). Beyond that though, I’d really like to see Hypatia get to make new friends who can help support her through her recovery after being cured. Stilton also has some experience in that he was also dragged into Delilah-related plans, though obviously not to the same extent as Hypatia. But yeah, pretty much for a story idea, I like the idea of a “slice of life” type thing set after dh2 with her making friends and finding some stability with the new direction her life has taken.

Unpopular Opinion: Once again I am stuck on finding an unpopular opinion. Apparently I’m not good at this, my apologies.

Favorite Relationship: While we don’t get to see a ton of this, I like the friendship/relationship between Hypatia and Vasco. They definitely both seem to really respect one another, and care about each other too. Hypatia worries when she realizes she hasn’t seen Vasco in a while, and she definitely considers him an equal. And then there’s Vasco, who is very determined to protect Hypatia and convince Emily/Corvo that she can’t be blamed for Grim Alex. And he’s genuinely torn up that he couldn’t save her himself. Whatever their relationship is, or could have been (especially if it all ended differently), I just love that they clearly cared about and respected one another

Favorite Headcanon: This headcanon actually came from a discussion in the discord (so I can’t take complete credit of course), but it came to mind when I was thinking of a potential favorite! Hypatia was fairly reserved while she attended the Academy, but she developed a reputation for how kind and how helpful she was. This was particularly true among any year’s incoming group of students. If someone was having a problem, Hypatia was known for being able to help, or at least being willing to point them in the right direction. With some time, and without consciously trying, she develops a bit of a following of students who look up to her as a role model.
