Sometimes I wonder how the Age of Calamity's Hyrule is faring in terms of The Upheaval, because if you think about it... The Upheaval takes place one hundred and some years after the Calamity has been sealed, until Rauru's hand no longer has the strength and vitality to hold Ganondorf and his Gloom in place.
Our Princess Zelda and her chosen knight, Link, have long since passed. They served their purpose in turning the Calamity away, a wretched evil that was the one and only of its kind. No one ever thought to question why the Calamity came from the castle, no one ever thought to look underground. Instead, everyone dedicated their lives to the mysteries the Sheikah technology held. It was an era of sacred peace and scientific progress.
But imagine: A princess whose stubbornness rivals that of her grandmother who sealed the Calamity, who refuses to listen to the warnings her father gives her and decides to go underground alone to satiate her burning curiosity about the Gloom plaguing their people. Was she not to seek wisdom, like all the women before her? She will not stand to let either her ancestors, or her citizens, down.
It's all a blur after that, really. The murals, the hand, the stone, the man. And now she's thrown into a different world, alone, and at the mercy of two strange figures. The founders of Hyrule they tell her, and really, she should be more excited. So much to ask, so much to know! But all she can think about is going back home, because what has she done? Her father is still in that castle. The last thing she remembers is the ground crumbling under her. Hylia help her, she must go back.
We don't know what becomes of him, or the people in that castle. All we know, is that the Impa we know and love and her family are still alive to deal with this fallout of a different calamity. This time, there are no instructions on what to do, no leads. Just another myth of the past turned to fact; this one, however, speaks of seven sages, which vastly differs from the four champions Hyrule has grown to dignify.
But where could they find sages, the Sheikah elder wonders, in a world where neither princess nor hero are to be found?

Happy three years of this duo! ♡
Aka, happy three years of Age of Calamity Day!
Seriously, this game is so, so special to me. And yes, because of these two. I cannot express in words how much they mean to me and this entire game as a whole.

I originally wasn't gonna post this since it was a gift for a friend because they were feeling down, but I decided "Why not?". So here's the Sheikah sisters hugging. I don't know why Impa is sad, but at least Purah is there to help her feel better.
I couldn't help Impa's hair clipping because there's no way for me to actually move her hair on this model. Their sleeves are difficult sometimes too.
Also, debut of my new watermark!

Congratulations again! ❤️
What about Link and Zelda getting caught kissing by someone of your choosing?
MY CHOOSING? BWAHAHA. Hope you enjoy @zeldaelmo and thank you for the prompt! This HWAoC snippet was written especially for you <3.
Word Count: 328
“Terrako! Oh, thank goodness, it's just you.” Zelda steps back from Link and begins to smooth out the front of her gown. Link’s face is hot, skin tingling like he just grabbed a thunderbolt.
“Okay, well, I suppose you can't say anything so we’re fine—” Zelda begins, but is cut off by a beam of crystal blue light that shoots out of the tiny guardian robot's swirling eye. It collects at a point before Link and Zelda, and from that point, two familiar figures flicker into reality in the same blue.
It’s them. Link and Zelda.
Link watches in horror as a miniature version of himself closes the distance between them (a little too desperately from this angle he hates to admit) to kiss her. The image freezes there, just before the moment when he had stepped back and began to apologize. Right before she seized him up by his collar and thrust him back against the Sheikah Tower for more.
It is a horribly incriminating image for the youngest member of Hyrule's Royal Guard, charged with protecting the very Princess he has been caught kissing not three days after he is appointed the Hylian Champion. His hard-fought reputation, Zelda’s dignity, their credibility as Hyrule’s last hope—it’s all lost in a moment of weakness this little demon egg managed to catch on film.
Instinctively, like whenever Link finds himself in the presence of a threat, he reaches for the Sword.
Terrako’s eye flashes red. It rises up high on all three legs and tilts the beam up, projecting the image into the sky…toward the tower. Toward the same technology Purah just finished demonstrating has the ability to transport people across Hyrule; that she hypothesizes can transfer massive amounts of data through a network created by the towers, shrines, guardians, and any other Sheikah Tech scattered across Hyrule.
He’s going to broadcast the kiss.
“No! You mustn’t!” Zelda cries. Link launches his entire body at the little guardian.

Ok i have many issues with hwaoc despite it being so fun and so stupid anyway AHEM
❗️❗️ this is incoherent because it is 1 am for me lol❗️❗️
In botw its so beautiful as a demonstration of Zelda letting go of her anger (simplified, its more complex than hate but im too tired to explain) towards Link, her father, and her godly ancestor. She doesnt accept or get over it, but she learns to use her grief and anger as a conduit for her divine power. It gives her a way to believe in herself, because she is literally the only person left who can (and shes also the only person left who could tear herself down). Shes a one-woman religion.
In hwaoc she knows Link is in an impossible situation. They (Z+L and 3rd gen Champions) just saved all of the 2nd gen champions from the Blights, but it was tough for them. Now she sees Link fighting alone against five powerful opponents and she rushes in to save him with her newly granted divine power. Theres no real reason to do this, or even have this scene at all? By the time you get to this point in hwaoc, youve gotten used to stunlocking Guardians with element rods, so they arent a threat. The mission the scene plays in, Each Step Like Thunder, is absolutely brutal even on normal difficulty, because it throws high level lynels and elemental guardians at you in groups. But even if youre struggling, it just doesnt feel like theres any weight to Zeldas Awakening here. Was it not enough to save the champions AND grab four more?? AND the Yiga + Rhoam + Purah and Robbie??? OKAY i know its because they needed to reference that beautiful botw scene, but its just emotionally flat. If you were to put it anywhere, it should have been before the 3rd Gens come through the portal...
ok goodnight

The vague time-skip between Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom is so interesting to me. People say it's been seven years as a homage to Ocarina of Time. Others say it's more like three to five.
Personally, I think it's a lot more, and the reason why, is because of 1) Purah's aging and 2) Link's "Tony Hawk" status.
Now, I get it, the two don't seem exactly related, but ask yourself this one question: How exactly did Purah age herself?
In Breath of the Wild, we learn through her diary that she tested the beta rune for anti-aging and it did its job a little too well. So well, that she considers making its counterpart, an aging rune. Notwithstanding all the ethical implications of age manipulation, Purah could have very well aged herself over the course of a few years, if we include the time it took to research the rune, plus the testing of its functionality.
But what if she didn't?
I know you're reading this with doubt. It's Purah. She's going to do it. Hear me out.
In her diary, Purah wrote that she had accidentally reversed 70 years of her life over one night. It led her to fear that she would become a newborn baby. She had every right to be scared. All that she has learned in her lifetime, gone, just like that. Can you imagine, then, how daunting the prospect of aging oneself would be? What if she accidentally aged too quickly, with a deteriorated mind that could no longer keep track of all that she has learned and discovered? Even worse, what if she goes too far and dies? The Sheikah are no exceptions to death. With anti-aging, the risk was having to relearn everything from birth. With aging, the risk is not being able to learn at all. Mad scientist that she is, she wouldn't take those chances. Even the strongest calculations would still show a margin of error that is too high to look over. She's not invincible.
So let her age naturally. What does that tell us?
Disregarding her mental age of 124 (the oldest of the Sheikah, ignoring all Sheikah monks), Purah was physically six years old in Breath of the Wild. If we assume her form in Tears of the Kingdom is equivalent to the form of her 24 year old self in Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity...
18 years have passed.
There's a lot to be said about how Zelda and Link don't look like they've aged at all, but that's not the important part. The important part is that Link, Hero of the Wild, hasn't had to save the world in almost two decades. Look at yourself from eighteen, twenty years ago and look in the mirror. Do you recognize yourself? Maybe, maybe not. But the differences are striking, aren't they?
I think that's it. That's why the people of Hyrule don't recognize him.
