The video accompanying this project (sorry for the non-french speakers out there ^^")

If, like me, you grew up watching the animated series of the 2000s, those broadcast on Disney Channel should be among your favorites. There was a bit of everything : spin-offs for the films of this experimental period of the studios, "Kim Possible" for the adventurers among us, "Buzz Lightyear of Star Command" for space-opera fans and urban fantasy fans were entitled to "American Dragon: Jake Long" !

In my new pitch, the world would be mostly like how it is in the original series. Except that not all dragons have the charge of a specific territory. This is the role of the Dragon Protectors, trained and formed to defend magical beings and humans from each other. And if a Potential is particularly worthy, then the Great Council of Dragons designates them as some place's Protector and entrusts them to a familiar spirit, in charge of assisting them in their task. Under the tutelage of his maternal grandfather, Jake Long learns to control his dragon powers in New-York City so that he can become its Protector in the future. And as in the original series, it will be a semi-follow up story in which Jake will become aware of the responsibilities of a Dragon Protector, learn more about the magical world and face the setbacks of the transition to adulthood.

The owl house x Jake Long Crossover

This is an old idea of mine, basically all of the magical community in American dragon Jake long originated from the demon realm, they're not all from the boiling isles, after all, even if isn't explored all that much in toh there are multiple kingdoms. However, the thing they all have in common is that their ancestors were banished, earth is the realm of banishment, essentially a prison Island.

Every origin story of how each magical creature came to live on earth is a bit different, most of them were criminals at home, some were traitors or rejects, but none had a pretty start, not even the dragons.

Dragons started as failed experiments by the archivists much like a non-accidental owl curse, two beings were fused, a witch and a demon, disjointed and scared, they rejected each other while forever united. There was no use for such creature, so they were relegated to earth. Unexpectedly, it was in this new land where the witch and the dragon found their purpose, a reason to live, and finally, they were able to become one!

The main storyline would center around Jake finding out the hidden origins of the dragons and journeying within the demon realm while unraveling a conspiracy surrounding the emperor and the huntsclan.

you know what i Still don’t get about disney’s short lived cartoon, American Dragon: Jake Long??

the huntsclan. (warning: long post ahead)

like, in season one, the huntsclan is established as an organization of baddies that hunt magical creatures for sport (and deal in magical artifacts of mass destruction). they pride themselves on having the knowledge and skills to slay whatever they please, and slaying a dragon is their chosen method of completing an initiate’s training, as mentioned by the hunstmaster during a mission with huntsgirl/rose.

but then in season two, they’re out collecting magical crystal skulls to conduct a wishing ritual in which they plan to wish for the annihilation of all magical creatures. like, what?? what does that even accomplish for them? they wouldn’t be able to hunt magical creatures for sport anymore if they’re all extinct. (unless the huntsclan is actually an underground group of magical exterminators, that shit makes zero sense.)

And Then, if we break it down even further: why is dragon slaying the end-of-training marker? while there is a word dragon council, and jake’s mom’s side of the family are mostly magical flying reptiles, dragons are still considered pretty rare within the canon of the show. that would give the accomplishment of slaying a dragon some serious prestige, but there probably aren’t enough dragons around for there to be very many fully-fledged members of the huntsclan. so why are there so many of them in the show?? note: trainees at the secret underground lair/training facility like 88 and 89 do not count toward this, they never finished their training by this metric, but somehow there are A Lot of trainees. this means that the huntsclan training program must be super competitive, and they likely have some sort of mind-wipe device to use on those who wash out to prevent them from blabbing about the existence of the huntsclan and the magical world. then again, maybe there are so few dragons because there are so many members of the huntsclan - they are the number 4 big threat to magical creatures according to the world dragon council.

idk, i’m just out here overthinking bad villain org writing. fun show, tho. dragons are fuckign cool.

Hey! Sorry these died down I went on a little vacay for my birthday 😊

This one was harder to write because it's not like she killed them, they just never existed? I figured something out and it's probably going to end up being the type of angst you were looking for?

Warnings: written on my phone

It was hard, being back in New York, walking the same streets, but different streets. Standing in front of the Huntsclan building which would always, but also had never, been the Huntsclan building, left Rose feeling disoriented. She had moved away from New York as a child, with a happy twin and her doting parents. A year and a half later, she had moved back from Hong Kong with the memories of what had never been, and she was no longer a child.

There were businesses and condos here now. Accounting firms and families sitting down to dinner.

Once upon a time, she'd sat down to dinner with people that never were. Real, once, but so far gone that they were never ghosts. It weighed on her shoulders, more often than she'd like to admit, that there was a world other than this one. It was hard to grasp in abstract that those people hasn't died - they had never even been people.

She blinked up at the sky, wondering if she was going to cry. She could remember conversations and people who never were and she was the keeper of all of those memories. She wished she'd been older and wiser, had found a way to give them all that she had found in this life. She wished she'd been better because, in the end, they were only just people, and they'd deserved to be people.
