I feel like I’m really seeing my growth, & I just… I fucking love that for me….
The old Xiomara had lost all passion, she let the world taint her view of herself…
The Xiomara I am today is…. A dream come true… She shows up for herself. She embraces the journey of starting anew….
I can say that I definitely inspire myself. I shall continue to do so! ✨🔥💚🔥✨🤘🏾

Happy World Hoop Day!
Tumblr media
Happy World Hoop Day! You should get yourself a hoop and spin it up! Hooping improves balance, core strength, and flexibility! It’s good for spine health! It’s low-impact exercise! There are cognitive benefits to learning new physical skills! It’s stimmy and it strengthens proprioception! It’s a social activity with built-in distancing! Good for the Covid-cautious, introverts, and kids who need lots of personal space! Many adults think they can’t hoop because they can’t use a child-sized hoop. The taller the person, the bigger the hoop needs to be. A properly-sized hoop, when stood vertical, should come up at least a few inches above your navel. Bigger is always better. If a hoop doesn't work for you, the answer is always a larger hoop. You can buy adult-sized hoops, or make your own from stuff available at the local home improvement store. [One-minute overview; in-depth instructions.] Everyone has a hoop “handedness”: the direction you naturally and comfortably spin the hoop. Devoted hoopers call this your "first current". Most people spin counterclockwise, putting the hoop in motion with the right hand, but not all. There’s no correlation with one’s dominant hand. You could be a right-handed writer and a left-handed hooper, like me. The hooping motion isn’t a circling of the hips so much as a simple rocking back and forth, either side to side or forward and back. If you’re trying a hoop for the first time in decades and you’re not sure how to start, begin just by standing in the hoop and holding it against your back. With your hands, put the hoop in motion around your waist and don't try to help it stay up. The hoop will circle you several times with that momentum before falling, even without any help. Just let it circle and fall on its own a few times. Most people will start hooping instinctively during one of these experiments. Once you’re comfortable hooping in your first current, try hooping in the other direction! Extra-heavy “weighted hoops” sold for exercise are a great way to meet more orthopedists and chiropractors for all the wrong reasons. They’re an efficient ticket to hip bruising and back trouble. Don’t mess with weighted hoops. News articles about hooping for exercise will always suggest trying squats and lunges while hooping. Don’t bother with any of that. If you’re stable and confident hooping at the waist, try to work the spinning hoop down to your hips or your butt and then back up to the waist, or work the hoop up to the chest or shoulders and back down. If you can do all that, you now have a new hyperfixation and you’re ready to start looking for nifty trick tutorials on YouTube! The hoop does that to people! Happy hooping! ❤️🌹❤️

Why yes, I am a bad bitch and it is my birthday!
Red hoop, red dress, will travel. I ran around town this morning into the afternoon and got to thinking about how I have never attempted going over bunny ears after I took Emma's class on it a couple of years back. No actual bunny ears attempted, but I did attempt passing behind the back like that but just a regular pass.

@julcheninred, on my way home from work I passed a woman in her driveway doing some sort of hula hooping routine with two neon orange hoops!

you can't tell me Eddie "paddle ball master" Kaspbrak wouldn't go absolute bananas for the hula hoop (☆▽☆) this was a great exercise for more dynamic sketching, so thank you for the prompt! ❤️

Today’s got-the-skill-back discovery is the ability to turn on my feet, both with the direction of the hoop and against it, while keeping the hoop spinning. 🎉 This is one of the hoops I made myself, a sturdy workhorse I used for practicing trick moves. It’s one of my heavier ones, 160psi PVC irrigation tubing, and it’s a joy to be able to use it again. ❤️

Today's hooping!
I took the longest bath with Epsom salts and bubbles earlier because I was crazy sore. Afterwards, I decided on wearing my @ thenewpornographers shirt from their 2017 tour and saw my Spotify Discover Weekly had their new single, Really Really Light ☺️ That is today's audio selection.
I like this little sequence that came to me - escalator but only to your chin, spin, flip off, catch, transition to floaty thing whilst on tippy toes and then whatever else felt good. I worked in @ hoopingmad 's latest combo into it in the second clip. I know there are names for those other moves but they aren't coming to me right now. Maybe it's covid brain. Maybe it's middle age
