Thinking about fhjy and how the mystery of the campaign seems to be revolving around using rage to overcome doubt and how similarly that parallels to the bad kids’ emotional / personal journeys so far.
In the investigation after frosty faire, they find the red gems underneath the stage, just like in the mall battle and just like in Lydia Barkrock’s chest-demon, and they’ve kinda come to represent rage.
And Ruben’s song as a (maybe?) spell kinda? “I don’t like when you - get mad.” Ruben both repeats “get mad” while also negating it immediately before… this paradox just seems so much like Gorgug’s struggle with rage and the frustration with porter, where Gorgug wants to be able to rage healthily, but feels like he can’t. We of course get some resolution with this in this episode, but still seems too similar to be a coincidence…
On top of this, we have Fig who is auditing barbarian classes and considering becoming a paladin of Cassandra - flirting with both doubt and rage. And Kristen and Fig had their whole conversation last ep about how rebellion (which could be linked with rage, but doesn’t have to be) is a vehicle for doubt.
And then doubt is the thing that brings Kristen’s ability to put Yolanda and Lucy’s souls as some sort of peace.
It seems like the rat grinders, and porter, and maybe the big bad, maybe galicaea?! have all fundamentally misunderstood the connection between rage and doubt, and that is PRECISELY THE JOURNEY OUR BAD KIDS ARE ON.
Further, Fabian helping with relaxation, Riz taking stress, Adaine helping Gorgug with rage, just all of them working together which theoretically reduces doubt and rage, is actually the thing that is allowing them to use doubt and rage for good; using these very normal, teenage feelings and experiences in a productive way!
Idk if there’s anything there, because obviously the character arcs are improv largely, so how would the character arcs match so seamlessly with the overall themes of the season’s mystery? But if anyone could do this, it’s the amazingly talented Brennan and intrepid heroes. Just really really loving fhjy.

An interesting (for lack of a better word) part of having a chronic illness that severely limits your energy and ability to do things is how you kind of just forget how minimally able-bodied people are affected by activities that would absolutely destroy you.
"Wait! Stop! You just did laundry an hour ago! If you keep pushing yourself, you're going to burn yourself out! Those dishes can wait! ... What do you mean 'it's no big deal'?"
"You just mowed the entire lawn! How are you still standing? What do you mean you're running to the store?! How is that possible??"
"Hey I'm so very very sorry to ask this great burden of you, it truly is a selfish and draining task, but would you go grab this thing from downstairs for me please? I just can't face that many stairs, let alone walking that far T-T. (Aaahh! They're sprinting to get it?! How do they move so fast??)"
Like, these are hardly hyperbole. I get exhausted just watching other people do what are perfectly unremarkable tasks for them. It's sometimes hard to remember that not everyone struggles with having enough energy to use the toilet or get dressed.
I used to be able to do all those things, too. I once completed Herculean tasks without batting an eye. I had no idea.
