The Iroh simp is here for her piece on the ‘shoving Azula off the ship’ scene 8D
EDIT: I’m keeping this post up but a lot of it is not great; don’t write metas when you’re cranky at 2 am
Azula wasn’t there to have a peaceful visit with Iroh and Zuko when Iroh shoved her off of that ship. She was actively luring Zuko into being taken home as a prisoner after he’d been shamed, banished, and spent 3 years away from home. Iroh has spent the past 3 years aiding Zuko on his journey after losing his only child and has actively told Zuko he thinks of the boy as his own after Zuko’s own father has been pretty terrible to him. Does this mean Azula hasn’t suffered? No, not at all; there are a lot of emotions colliding in this moment.
Imagine how Iroh feels seeing Zuko so willing to go home and then seeing it be a trick and Azula actively taunting him about the thing he’s wanted for three years?
When her taunting him with that is most likely her own way of getting retribution towards him for how much Ursa seemed to favor him? There’s a lot of layers there; she’s maintaining her position as Ozai’s favorite and she’s able to directly see that pain in Zuko that she felt for years.
She then conjures up some lightning - was she going to use it directly on Zuko? Or was it going to be a threat? Was it going to go to Iroh? We don’t know because Iroh stops her.
Iroh, yes, could have just knocked her away - but he does knock her off of the boat. By this point I believe Iroh has made quick work of Azula’s soldiers, so she doesn’t have many people to order until some of them are back on their feet. But Iroh acts quickly to preserve his and Zuko’s lives if his fourteen year old niece is capable of conjuring lightning.
Did she later have every right to strike Iroh with fire? Absolutely, it’s a great moment when she gets to fire back at him. (EDIT - NOPE; big nope, this was a dumb thing to say)
Azula shot Iroh when she was surrounded. Iroh protected Zuko when the Fire Lord demanded their imprisonment. Azula never once heard their side; she never learns that Iroh was deemed a traitor for lashing out at Zhao for killing the moon spirit, which would have doomed them all.
Azula is doing as she is told; and she has every right to not question it because her father is the Fire Lord. Zuko and Iroh are on their own all over again.
None of them were going down without a fight.

Tsundoku Analysis Essay - Written by JFlicker and EC
[Sorry this took me so long, but you invited me to gush and…Well, I raved to my friend about it being so long it might end up as an essay, and she said something that (for her) translates to “do it, you coward”. Then she got dragged into co-writing it with me so who’s the loser now?! >8D SO HERE IS AN ESSAY! >8DDD Warning, it definitely references Iktsuarpok a lot lol.]
Someone in the fandoms once said that “plot holes are the pockets the canon keeps fanfiction in”. For us, a major draw of fanfiction is worldbuilding/expanding on canon. And we absolutely loved the logistical shinobi ranking system you drew out. The canonical shinobi ranking system has always been vague, especially for a military organization that’s been in and out of major wars throughout the last 50 to 60 years. It’s open enough that the dozens of ways people have tried to flesh it out are all viable. Your system is especially well done and makes TOO MUCH SENSE. It establishes a more legitimate step-wise approach for being promoted within and across ranks (something we know has to be there) as well as expanding on and standardizing specialties (ex: combat specialist for Asuka). Having different levels of Chunin and Jonin also adds an entire (realistic) dimension to the shinobi world that we have deeply appreciated. This is really driven home by the way you described Gai. His reputation among the ‘lower ranks’ as being scary strong and not knowing his own strength is an interesting perspective and highlights the practical power difference. Not just between chunin and jonin, but also between the five jonin levels that you described. As the type of people that REALLY APPRECIATE ESTABLISHING LOGISTICS, you would not believe how much time we spent crowing in reader-victory and gushing in reader-fulfillment about this. And this isn’t even going into the practical implications of being in a military state, which is a bit more present here in this story. From the weight of confidentiality in a military state (on everybody and everything they do) to the matter of rank having actual authoritative weight to the court-martialing being a very present threat, it makes it so that the rank isn’t just a matter of achievement and level. It carries weight because those of higher rank isn't just stronger than you, they are your military superior. Court martialing for insubordination is a very present threat.
Secondly, we both have trained or still train in the Germanic and Italian styles of longsword as well as kenjutsu. You can imagine how delighted we were with reading about a sword fighter as well as, with elements like Sakura being taken on as an apprentice, a concentration on an actual, legitimate sword art that comes with its own legacy. After all, martial arts is a collaboration of many people over many decades carefully learning, adding, teaching, and passing down this one particular school/style. The portrayal of Asuka’s tactical thinking, her logging her own resources, and calculating how much she can still do all work together successfully to create the impression that she’s working for her victories while creating a stark contrast to how smoothly and efficiently her fights are. It’s wonderful writing-wise, but also accurate in what we’ve seen with our teachers and senior students in terms of how sword fights are heavily strategic in many aspects. For example, one of the things we’re taught is the concept of “conscious competence”, which includes actively reading our opponent’s body language and then using that knowledge by choosing positions, attacks, and defenses that would manipulate their body movements as well as influence their choices. Our main teacher, the owner of the school, can set up his attacks two to four steps beforehand.
Additionally, the two of us also did taekwondo for a couple of years, and so the early scene where Asuka started the genin off by practicing stances was a combination of nostalgia and delight. Asuka being dismayed at Naruto’s stance was something we felt on a visceral level because it’s so important in taekwondo to have a solid grasp on a balanced, ready stance and sensible footwork. That she was able to analyze each of them, pick these issues apart, and verbalize the problems was also a great wall to illustrate how Asuka’s experienced and a legit veteran as the story was starting. She also served as a great and sensible foil for Kakashi through this. Canon simultaneously shows how Kakashi being a once-in-a-lifetime genius causes him a lot of social issues but doesn’t really overtly go into the more subtle issues Kakashi would have had dealing with people (children) on a completely different level than he and his generation had been. There should be a hiccup somewhere there, but most of it is brushed off as comedy. You did illustrate it, and you did it very well. Specifically, Asuka interjected and helped in a manner where it’s obvious she’s at a lot higher level than the genin but much lower than Kakashi. That she isn’t an overwhelming genius helps her not just pinpoint and verbalize the issues, but know how to verbalize advice and instructions. Basically, thanks to having worked hard and gone through a more regular development, she has a bit more of an idea of where they would get stuck or what they wouldn’t just know (though even she’s taken aback by the Academy’s dropped standards lol). It’s such a small thing to just explain a concept, demonstrate, and then supervise, but then you realize that Kakashi’s first time really doing so in canon was in the Wave Arc for tree climbing.
Next, we loved the relaxed, easygoing relationship dynamics. It really made for such a relaxing read, weirdly enough. In your writing, you managed to capture Asuka’s satisfaction in just being with Kakashi. He’s so worried about misstepping as they advance their relationship to the point he’s a little flail-y and the emotional constipation REALLY shows (it’s hilarious). Go realistic, in-character reaction portrayal! Meanwhile, Asuka is laughingly relaxed in comparison and it’s wonderful how genuinely okay, satisfied, and happy she is at each step of the relationship. There’s no agenda, no demands, and her going along at Kakashi’s pace isn’t a compromise. There is a very upfront feeling that, if this relationship never advanced or even went back to being more platonic, she would have been perfectly happy with that too. It is so rare to have that platonic build-up without romantic pressure or severe overthinking from one or both of the characters, which makes their gradual relationship even more satisfying. This kind of simple comfort and meshing and advancement from mutual understanding is just…absolutely lovely. That this gradual progression is part of them developing a found family makes it even better! And it’s so relaxing in knowing that, even if their relationship settles back into platonic, this family they made would be fine, and their non-romantic relationship would remain deeply satisfying and comforting for all involved. This kind of security has been wonderful for Sasuke and we actually get to see him work through his grief and learn to open up again. Both Sakura and Naruto are also learning to do so to a lesser degree, but this slow progression and development that’s drawing all of them together really help Sasuke with his own traumas. His multi-faceted trauma involves looking for approval from, being overlooked by and for, being abandoned by, and being hurt by family. That he’s finding something completely different (but more along the lines of what he wants and needs) with his genin team is heartwarming. And this route where it’s is all very slow, very subtle development with all of them in the process of learning as he is makes it believable that Sasuke could accept this.
Okay, and this needs to be said. We. Absolutely. LOVE. The Nagisa! XD
A lot of people have been expanding on the experiences of the bijuu, who are major parts of the story while also having the least screen time outside of Tenten. What you did with the Nagisa and subsequently the bijuu is another beautiful expansion of the canon. While many have definitely expanded on Kurama, many then based the other bijuus’ experiences on what they thought happened with him. Your version has it so that the bijuu are all more individuals, with their individual experiences and histories (absolutely lovely mythological narrative, by the way). In many aspects, Isobu’s tragic story is a foil (or at least the other side of the spectrum) to Kurama’s tragic story.
The whole idea of a family line, community, or country being tied to or descended from a god, deity, mystical creature, spirit, etcetera, and then how that shapes the very fabric of their culture is something you see throughout the world. Isobu created the Nagisa and shaped them into who they became in more ways than he probably realized. After all, up until recently, he played and raised and taught and accompanied and protected his Nagisa. From the few Nagisa we got to read about, they were a very practical, down-to-earth (lol) people who understood and were at peace with the cycle of life (“the sea gives and the sea takes away”). Though I can’t help but think that the fact that, no matter who they lose, the surviving Nagisa would always have family in their “Isobu-nii-san” may have played into their cultural mindset of acceptance in the face of loss. This constant presence in the face of rough times seems similar to the way religions comfort people, but more tangible. The story read as the Nagisa loving and dedicating little parts of themselves to him all their lives in the same way you would your family, resulting in the feeling that the assertion that the Nagisa were his people read as being pretty mutual.
At some point, the Nagisa moved their entire culture out onto the water (from a fishing village to sea nomads?) and evolved it to suit in order to be closer to Isobu. Whatever else they ended up doing (raiding, pillaging, etc.),  it doesn’t change that they’re an entire culture started from and based on genuine love. Love of the sea and freedom and their Isobu-nii-san, who they try to spend as much time with as possible before they pass away and leave him alone. Expanding on that, the idea of there being a dedicated nautical force for the Uzushio is another element that’s simultaneously too simple and makes too much sense. It takes into consideration that, unlike Konoha, it is not just a shinobi village on an island, but groups of people who lived on islands and coasts who came together to form a shinobi village. And that means there has to have been an island culture. And that kind of development has to have shaped many integral societal/structural facets, including their military. The reaction Karin’s mom had when she heard “Nagisa” was something we ended up discussing at length. Talk about cultural consciousness. The absolute faith in the Nagisa that must have been built up over the generations is clearly evident at that moment. A name carrying cultural weight, legacy, and associations is such a little thing, but it makes Uzushio so much more real.
Incidentally, another thing we liked was the delving into the fates of the Uzushio refugees. Generally, the obliteration of anything (much less something like a military city), is messy. People get away, people weren’t there, there are refugees, etc. Canon kind of oversimplified this part of the Uzumaki background. We have Karin, and you going into her parentage and the mentions of kidnapping gangs (and Kumo’s history) also made us wonder about people like Karui (the redhead woman who marries Chouji).
Another thing to note: people have been adding flavors of realism to Hashirama’s character and how specifically the “God of Shinobi” isn’t necessarily/probably isn’t a hero. Especially when you look at similar figures in history. There have been other fics about how he’s wiped-out entire groups before; something that more than likely canonically happened. But this succeeded in being PERSONAL. Your fic has succeeded in demonstrating what we’ve seen “great men” and rulers do throughout history when they pursue their goals to fulfill their visions. Hashirama’s apathy to what sounds like a genocide-massacre and betrayal-sabotage on his own allies was too real. It sounds like…a lot of dead civilians and noncombatants along with children in that. And he’s just stone-faced or that self-absorbed to have no reaction in the face of Isobu telling his Nagisa to run and Akane desperately trying to rescue him. At this point, people are more familiar with the concept of “transgenerational trauma”. He destroyed an entire culture without a second thought and, what’s even more horrifying to realize, was that this was a culture of transgenerational love—passed down from generation to generation—that he casually destroyed and he didn’t even care. You picture that great procession of ships and parade of happy, free, rough, seabound people that Tobirama describes and you can’t help but grieve because it’s all gone. They’re nearly all gone and the culture is permanently warped into something the few survivors have to make into something new from the remaining pieces. And it was for an equalizing system they were never even asked to be part of. The shattering of Gin’s sword is a perfect symbol of this and I haven’t felt so breathlessly grieved for a sword in such a short time since Ice got melted in the 1st season of Game of Thrones! This story was a real face-on address and then overturning of the propaganda surrounding Hashirama. That it was a story told to Tsunade (Hashirama’s granddaughter and the Senju) and Kurama (Isobu’s eldest sibling and the bijuu) made a long exposition work. The two are fascinating foils of each other with both of them having their worldviews shattered but in opposite directions. The hero was the villain in many aspects. Humans are not only villains, and the divide between bijuu and humans wasn’t as great as initially perceived. This mini-story within your fic just hits multiple emotional points.
The portrayal of Isobu himself was also interesting. You managed to portray how distinctly inhuman and immortal he is with how simultaneously emotional and childishly simple yet distant he is. Too young and too old at the same time. As a result, his moments of happiness, delight, comfort, love, protectiveness, grief, fear, and horror hit harder. Even his crueler acts are simple and childish, as shown with his casual extermination of the Hamaguchi. Ironically, his attitude about that mirrors how Hashirama went about wiping out the Nagisa to get to him. Though Hashirama’s act manages to be worse with its traces of betrayal and he doesn’t have the excuse of being distinct “not human”. Also, my friend spent a solid two minutes ranting about how Hashirama canonically not giving the Uzumaki a bijuu was just generally a dick move. Historical allies, our collective asses.
Kurama similarly ends up being a tragic figure in that he specifically seems to have inherited and absorbed all human hatred and negativity. In your fic, he’s specifically the bijuu foil to Isobu, starting from their legendary reputations. The Kyuubi is canonically seen as a natural disaster while your Sanbi is considered an auspicious sight omen of good tidings. Kurama’s greatest nemesis, his personal monster, is Madara. Madara, who lost himself to hatred and obsession, and so enslaved the fox to use as an attack dog to fight Hashirama. From then on, Kurama is passed from prison and warden to be used as a weapon and even blamed for his warden’s suffering. Meanwhile, Isobu has a much more positive introduction to humans when he finally became truly involved. Up until the fall of the Nagisa, his interactions with humans generally leaned more on the friendlier side, if only because negative actions were so inconsequential that he didn’t care. He became more involved, invested, and knowledgeable about humans and the world through his Nagisa. And in many ways, they were his support system when his siblings were more or less gone. So the only times he got proactively involved was because of his Nagisa. TLDR; the Hamaguchi thing was hilarious.
“It had been a long time since he’d had anyone call him nii-san, and he wouldn’t let pesky cannibals take that away from him.”
“Umiko’s mind could take her into dangerous territory if she weren’t careful. And he wasn’t quite sure if he’d eaten all the Hamaguchi yet.”
“She liked to dance on the shore with baby turtles as well, safe in the cradle of Isobu’s tails. He was pretty sure he’d eaten all the Hamaguchi a few years passed, but better safe than sorry, really.”
“It would be dangerous, a lively girl like her on the water, wielding a sword and the curiosity of youth. Best to nip any lingering worries about the potentially remaining Hamaguchi in the bud.”
Even the Uzumaki trying to buy him from the Nagisa was more like an amusing moment he shared with his family of the time with them. When Isobu did fight for humans, he did so willingly and with at least a bit of pride and satisfaction. He protected his Nagisa and the island and had a genuinely good relationship with these humans who loved and respected him. The Nagisa in turn inherited their love for their guardian turtle from generation to generation and were devotedly consistent. His tragedy was that the whole of the Nagisa sided with him when the God of Shinobi came for him. They all ran away with him because he was family and more important than pride or strength. This to led to Isobu watching Hashirama wipe out most of his Nagisa in front of him while being helpless to stop it, being imprisoned to be used as a weapon, and given to an establishment that tries to use him to wipe out the land he formerly protected where any of his surviving Nagisa would have been. And there is rage for his wardens destroying the island that he willingly devoted time to protect, and grief because that would have been where any of his surviving Nagisa would have been. One last crushing of his hopes.
Unlike Kurama who suffered from his own and others’ hatred stemming from humanity as a whole, Isobu suffered because humans died for the love of him. He has felt the difference between people literally dying to possess him and people dying for him. His looking at Hashirama and thinking monster and being afraid and you ruined my life hits hard. Most specifically in that, unlike Kurama, Isobu knows what it’s like to have had and lost. As summarized by Tsunade’s reflection, “[Jiraiya] hadn’t grown up in a Clan, and despite the tragedy of growing up without a family at all…he didn’t know what it felt like to have one, and then lose it.” This is a parallel between Gin, Tsunade, Sasuke, Haku, Asuka, and Kakashi versus those like Naruto, Kurama, Sakura, and Tenzo. Overall, I’m just very excited to see where things go with Isobu. He’s made so interesting here, and he is singularly significant in that he may be the last one alive who still has personal experiences with and exact memories of Nagisa tradition, events, culture, etc. We can’t wait for the reunion! With the Mist Revolution happenings, the possibility that Asuka and Isobu there is exciting!
On a side note, if I was Isobu with everything he’s suffered, I’d take Asuka and run. Fuck staying on this side of the world. While “I” will always love the Sage, we’re going through the Divide and never coming back. That was just so much love that disappeared. Another thing that’s hilarious to consider is that Isobu probably has the most childcare experience among the bijuu. The whole growing up in the protection of his tails, Nagisa children to teach, and exploring his back to see what kind of sea life he picked up is so cute. And now we have the image of a giant turtle mother hen whose worries and advice are specifically skewed towards sea-faring issues. (Ex. “Finish your citrus fruits, you’ll get scurvy” because having enough Vitamin C is a genuine seafaring concern.)
Your endeavor into the nature of chakra itself is also intensively interesting. Chakra interactions aren’t a truly new thing in the fandom, but the way you do it is definitely going more in-depth. We especially liked how humans themselves have basically adapted/evolved to have chakra natures reflecting their environments or place of origin. Additionally, the way you managed to tie everything in, including connecting the logistics of rank to chakra, the breakdown and use of Positive and Negative Chakra (and their difference but tie to Killing Intent), and even how it affects the use of Summoning is so cohesive! The additional layer of chakra interaction (and never manners) as a form of communication is another element that really adds to the Naruto world. That there are even unique, distinct ways of chakra interacting with each other makes this new story element more of a very real thing in itself. On a logistical level, this includes things like how exactly the Curse Mark leeches off the individual, how the Positive Intent interacts with the Curse Mark, and the way Tsunade was able to identify Asuka and Tenzo (the imagery of it as a musical resonance was fun). On a cultural level, which includes elements like the “smelling” as well as Kakashi and Asuka’s chakra communication and resonance, it’s even more fascinating as you managed to encompass manners, societal standards, and boundaries with it. It also does a great job of emphasizing just how thoroughly how different clan shinobi and clan shinobi cultures are from the wider breadth of general shinobi. The small details of how it is harder to form a second chakra nature when a shinobi is older, or how shinobi can gain ‘sympathetic’ chakra signatures after interacting with teammates for an extended period sounds so logical and yet seems unique to your fic. It also successfully help ties it in as something that leans towards it being a biological function. Having Kakashi being so fascinated with Asuka’s water nature is also very cute since Kakashi’s intellectual side isn’t often triggered.
There are many in-village elements we also really loved! For one, the practicalities of all the Uchiha disappearing are addressed more directly here, specifically in how a lot of people in the older generation would have the experience working with Uchiha. There’s definitely more of that feeling of their absence being unspoken of, but not forgotten. Secondly, the Uchiha culture being expanded upon is also appreciated, including the Uchiha-unique taijutsu styles created to be easily adapted as the Sharingan develops, the strict disciplinary measures, and the “Chosen” element that's a feature of the actual eyes. Similar to the aforementioned Nagisa, this builds up carefully to the growing sense of loss for the Uchiha as a whole culture. Ironically, it’s also Asuka helping to pass on the Uchiha heritage to Sasuke on top of passing Nagisa teachings onto Sakura and non-big-clan shinobi culture/going-on to Kakashi. Even the problems she runs into work to teach them something if only through quiet observation that something’s wrong or off. Like how Sakura learned there are big differences between civilian and shinobi culture through how civilians gossiped about Asuka (leading to Sakura’s later questions), Sasuke gains perspective because he remembers old clan gossip surrounding her and her twins. It’s all still experience.
Also, you did great in illustrating just how messy the ROOT situation is. It definitely succeeds in the feeling that Danzo’s reach is all-encompassing and creates mounting tension as the sheer breadth of the organization is fleshed out. You can practically feel Tsunade’s anxiety and how legitimately and thoroughly comprised the whole system is. Frankly speaking, forget Naruto accompanying Jiraiya around for two years, take all five members of Team 7, and get the hell out of dodge for those two years instead. XD
Additionally, in terms of logistics, Asuka having to budget things was fantastic. It’s a great aspect of worldbuilding that she has to worry about food and weapons and we regularly see her grocery shopping and pondering what she is getting. It’s not addressed much in other fics how shinobi are running missions as a source of income, but it is completely true that their mission rank and length determines their pay, and that should be considered more. Her worrying about buying ‘expensive’ food and thinking about how Kakashi could pay for food WAY easier is extremely realistic. It was also satisfyingly complex to see her thinking about if she could afford new armor and how that would dip into her budget. Shinobi rely on armor and weapons to save their lives, and yet it really makes sense that shinobi might have trouble resupplying and that it could impact future missions. Little details about how she needs to renew seals for them to remain functional help retain the feeling that this is her life.  I’m glad upkeep is a thing here! (“The Seals were updated every year around the same time, making sure to keep the entire structure safe from the pressure.”). Having Asuka repair her armor was a smart way of not only adding tension (constant vigilance, no auto-regeneration of anything) and making it feel like she works for every victory, but it also is a chance to demonstrate Jiraiya’s more academic competence. Her armor and the seal-use for it are so starkly practical that it’s easy to overlook that it’s actually pretty unique. That she needs to and can pull in multiple shinobi with different specialties for both upkeep and creation also works to highlight the advantage of a village and specifically Konoha’s wealth of resources.
All that aside, Tsundoku is hilarious and adorable with a strong female role model who remains feminine. Asuka is a well-written female character who could eat cute panda-shaped snacks and love petting dogs, while still being a competent combat specialist. She could tie little things into her hair and dress nicely and it didn’t affect her job as a kunoichi. It was simply part of who she was and made her a well-rounded character with the capacity to have unique traits. The Zabuza/Iruka rarepair appearance along with the Kakashi/Asuka/Iruka and Kakashi/Asuka/Zabuza hinted at are deeply appreciated. (Though we also curse you for that. Where else are we going to find fics to feed us?) Kakashi kind of absentmindedly and casually adding people to his collection is hilarious and great. Once the floodgates were opened, the river rushed and Hatake instincts for the win. XD Also, if no one else has said it yet, your version’s Naruto and Kurama is a bit similar to Lilo and Stitch. XD
We look forward to any and everything about Tsundoku. There are still so many things we’re curious about! Is that underwater coral structure they built based on the Coral Castle of Tori-gumi still around if it’s a canonical thing? (Lol, did it grow?) Asuka has said something about a Sanctum Key? Will we see more of a revival of the Nagisa, starting with Sakura? After all, Asuka seems to have various friends outside the village like Juli and Maki (medics and merchants). Not to mention, Asuka’s interactions with Itachi and Shisui are a whole barrel of drama on their own while not even mentioning the twins’ eyes and her not knowing she seems to have a storage seal on her back! We’re excited for the epic backstory to be unearthed there!
[Thank you for coming to our TedTalk lol.]

Just had a really silly thought!
Rewatching Sailor Moon because it’s wonderful and I was thinking about your OCs doing the “magical girl transformation” and I can just imagine the hilarity that would ensue! You’d get a fabulous Jun doing the whole twirling and posing, Aren would be kinda embarrassed like “is this really happening? Well ok if it’s happening to him I’m sure it’s ok”. You KNOW Jareh would rock that and go all out with the acting, Mika is super concerned about it like we saw how hard Jareh had to beg him for modeling imagine how much convincing it would take him for this! Lir would just be so cute and gorgeous doing the twirl and being confident but still just a bit shy about the whole thing. And then there’s Nei. He’d be giving the death glare and the music starts up and he’s just not moving and the sparkles and everything are flying around meanwhile the others are scooting out of the way cause they all know that this won’t end well AT ALL! It cuts back to Nei and there’s just carnage everywhere but somehow there’s just the tiniest bow in his hair or something 😂 Who’s behind all this you might wonder?
Perhaps some chaotic dragon god 👀😂
Lmao you put a lot of thoughts and scenes in my head 8D
And hey, Sailor Moon is iconic right? I was literally raised watching Sailor Moon! My first anime-like silly doodles when I was a smol potat featured Sailor Mercury lmao but now I realised that if I had to choose my fav characters it would definitely be Sailor Jupiter, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto lmao especially the last three they're beyond cool
But back to topic... I kinda died
But I'm really impressed how well you figured everyone's acting out lmao, you're right, Jun would nail it he's such a nerd and an anime fan he'd just fucking do it and since he's gorgeous he would make Aren's heart go badum badum
But Aren himself definitely would not be up for this, he hates that shit and you probably remember he can't stand dressing up so he would just be concerned for Jun and full of disbelief lmao, Jareh would absolutely be wild and excited about it and rock it, Mika would too after a minute or two, he'd do it with such a straight face though, models need to be serious 8D
Lir would happily do it and shine how gorgeous she is and Nei would just rip that tiny bow you put in his hair, step on it and then kill you for having such fantasies

It is a ridiculously quiet day today, so the upside of that is that I have finally (FINALLY!! :D :D) got the time to send those asks for cousin Tank and their squad of loved people. If that's too many people (which I conpletely understand), I am most interested in Tank and Isabela, but feel free to pick loved ones as you'd like. Long story short, these are my questions:
8. What are their most prominent memories of each other?
24. Is their any moment that happens between them that you know happens and just makes you melt?
31. Share anything you would like about the couple!
As always, take as long as you'd like and feel free to skip questions ^^ Hope you are having an absolutely spectacular day! :D :D
HEYOOOOOOOO HI! 8D 8D 8D Ooh I had to think a bit for ol' Cousin Tank- not as fleshed out as they could be, poor sod, but we're getting there! Also, sorry for the delay, but now I have answers for you! Tank and Isabela, coming right up! Under the cut, naturally, because I do tend to waffle.
I'll start with 31, sharing anything I'd like about the couple, because this may be pertinent given the nature of this particular ask game: Isabela, in my world state, is aromantic, and her flavour of aromanticism is total apathy to it, maybe a little 'good for you!' if it's someone she likes. So Tank's and her relationship is very much a 'kiss kiss, fall in friendship' sort of dynamic. But when I say fall I mean fall hard. The longer they spend in each other's company, the more certain they are that they're one hell of a good pair. Peas in a pod, two halves of a whole, all that good stuff. Isabela (and Tank, too) are the happiest they've ever been in the Kirkwall polycule. Isabela's surrounded by people she cares about and naturally enjoys herself with, and so is Tank. Everything (rather, everyone) they could have wanted for themselves is living in the Amell mansion, and by golly they're happy as clams in high tide about it. Now for 8, their most prominent memories of each other. For Isabela, it was... well, a bit of a wall incoming for this one, I think. I'm going to say, for safety's sake, that I find the DA2 timeline a bit... messy. I've rearranged it to suit myself, so if anything seems too rushed or out of order on my part, it absolutely is. x) With that disclaimer out of the way, on we go. To set the scene: we're a few months after All That Remains. I hc that Leandra survives (Tank intercepted the vivisection bit and used a lot of horrific blood magic in the process of restoring Leandra’s body into something liveable, before it could completely expire). After receiving Tank’s letter informing them of what happened, Leandra's cousin (Rhod's mother) Revka, along with Aurelio and four of the offspring, break their vow to never return to Kirkwall. They make for the hellhole (affectionate & derogatory) with all due urgency to both support the family and magically assist in any further healing where possible (Evander, younger of the twins, has proven himself to be quite a prolific healer mage, and having had five kids, Aurelio’s not too shabby, himself).
A day or two after their arrival, Rhodri has finished Warden-Commander duties and done the most unceremonious dump-and-run since the Tevinters ditched Ferelden. She's now in Kirkwall, too, stopping only because exhaustion from constant travel forced her to. By the luckiest hap, Tank has Rhodri come along with them and co. after Nuncio puts in an order for a certain Antivan to be delivered into his hands, so we can imagine how that turns out.
That afternoon, a celebration takes place with this cluster of traumatised, overjoyed people who simply cannot believe their luck, all held at the (other) Amell estate where Revka’s branch of the family lived.
The thing with Isabela is that with all the romantic affections Tank gets from Fenris and Varric, she feels terribly (unduly) worried that somehow her own love for them isn’t enough to sustain any long-term interest in a very intimate sense. She doesn’t really get a chance to see much of the platonic kind, because friends are few and far between (or they end up Tank’s partners), and their immediate family is inclined to be rather toxic at times.
But here, at this ecstatic, careworn party, she gets to see the people who Tank grew up with, all revelling in them. Revka mellows Leandra out a lot, so the toxic criticism falls away and it's nothing but praise, praise, praise. Carver's smiling (genuinely!) and slinging an arm around Tank as Auntie Revka talks about Tank spending hours making little Rube-Goldberg contraptions for him that dispensed his favourite snacks. Uncle Aurelio laughs himself to tears recalling how his delightful niece accidentally blew up a hill. The youngest cousin, Bethann, who doesn't do well at parties and is frequently leaving the room to decompress, signs "I love you" to Tank every time she passes them on the way in and out. Other cousins (and sibling! Bethany's alive and kickin'!) are falling over themselves to snare some of Tank's time and attention. (And of course, Rhodri is praising and adoring her cousin to high heaven, amid light hosting duties and trying not to lose her shit about getting Zevran back and seeing her family.)
Isabela watches on with her heart fit to bursting as Tank drinks all this in like a sponge, positively exulting in it-- especially the affection coming from the relatives who were consistently good to them (mostly the aunt/uncle side of the family). Naturally, it’s not quite the same sort of love as Isabela’s (they’re sleeping together, after all). It’s familial platonic. All the same, sitting there and watching this is the wake-up call Isabela needs to see the way Tank is just as moved, just as fulfilled, just as deeply involved in a love that isn’t romantic in nature. By the time the party’s over, Isabela’s been adoring Tank as much as anyone else, and has been adored back twofold. That’s happiness and true love right there. Now, after that enormous wall, for Tank: I have to say, for Tanky Wanky, it’s not so much one single memory of Isabela that stands out for them, but rather a cluster of them that revolve around doing one thing together repeatedly.  Tank is a dab hand at mechanics. Inventing, fixing, pulling apart and putting back together for shiggles, high-tech pranks: they’re the one you want to see about it. They’re pretty good at magic, especially blood magic (much to their chagrin), but their true interest and talent lies in building things.
When the money from the Deep Roads exploration came in and Tank was able to buy back the main Amell estate, they immediately installed a workshop out the back so they could fiddle and faddle to their heart’s content.
Like Rhodri, Tank loves company, but nobody ever wanted to come to the workshop with them. Leandra and the siblings weren’t interested, Fenris got uneasy around too many sharp tools ( ;_; ) and Varric couldn’t stand to be around that kind of stuff after Bianca. Nobody wanted to be there.
Except Isabela.
She was happy to sit in there with a bottle of plonk between them until all hours, making conversation with Tank while they worked away. She knew a bit about the art from carrying out basic repairs on her own ship, and was curious enough to ask a few questions here and there. Sometimes she was a spare pair of hands, or a rubber ducky like programmers have, but most of the time she was good company.
It ended up happening so frequently that Tank built a special, comfortable recliner for her that took up half the free space in that cramped little box of a workshop. It’s their little Thing They Do. They still do it. Well, that was another wall.  But we made it to 28! Is there any moment that happens between them that you know happens and just makes you melt? Ugh their friendship makes me into a puddle on the reg, I have to say. They’re meant for each other in a way I can’t quite describe, aside from that very hackneyed ‘on the same wavelength’ claim. But it’s the same wave, at the same point in the wave. Just a perfect match, with just enough differences to keep it interesting.  They were meandering past a bakery in Lowtown a couple months into the FWB scheme, still long before either of them had much money to their name. Both of them having a sweet tooth, they looked at the window display. “Those cream puffs look a bit of all right, don’t they?” breathes Tank. Isabela nods. “They do, don’t they? I’m quite partial to those, myself.”
Because of course they both like the same confectionery.
They share a shrug and make for the Hanged Man, where they eat dinner and sleep the night in Isabela’s room. In the morning, Isabela wakes first and slips out with her money bag in hand, making for the bakery to buy as many cream puffs for Tank as her funds will allow.
Tank wakes not long after Isabela leaves, and slips out with their money bag in hand, ALSO making for the bakery to buy as many cream puffs for Isabela as their funds will allow.
Isabela returns to the Hanged Man victorious and penniless, clutching a small box with three cream puffs. She makes her way to her room only to find it empty, but Tank’s things are still in there. After checking the facilities and finding them empty, she’s about to leave on a search-and-rescue mission when she catches Tank creeping into her room, victorious and penniless and-- you guessed it-- clutching a box with three cream puffs inside.
A lot of pointing and exclaiming follows, after which the boxes are exchanged, and the cream puffs are devoured with relish and silent adoration.

Ok, I need to watch Encanto 2957950281 times more to absorb every bit of it, but in the meantime here's a list with some little details I loved:
—That habit Mirabel has of wiping her hands before touching a doorknob. We see little Mirabel do it before her magic door, excited about the upcoming gift; but 10 years later she keeps doing it, as if she had developed a subtle anxiety about closed doors. Or perhaps she just sweats a lot, lol; Bruno's "you're very sweaty" seems to back up that. It was something so mundane that I loved it.
—The GLASSES. As a short-sighted woman who's been wearing glasses for more than 25 years, I really really really appreciated Mirabel's glasses and all the unconscious movements associated to them. Every time she had to readjusted her glasses because they fell or slipped over her nose, I was like 8D (that scene in Bruno's room with her glasses full of sand, omg)
—Actually, Mirabel herself is just amazing. I was afraid they could give us the dorky-girl-with-glasses archetype, but thank God they didn't. She's unique and so tree-dimensional: her expressions, her body language, her energy, her optimistic but not childish behavior. The latter is very important, tbh, because optimistic female characters are often infantilized and portrayed as too innocent and easy to fool. Mirabel's actually pretty mature (emotionally mature, at least), and brave and strong and soft and loving, and she seems just real, not fitting any defining archetype/trope that constrains her personality. How awesome is that, folks.
—Mirabel and Antonio’s scene under the bed, it’s probably one of the sweetest things I’ve seen in a Disney movie between relatives T_T  I can't believe how much love they share, it made me feel at home all the time.
—Everything about the triplets, asjflgljshaklaldk, from Julieta's "my brother lost himself in this family" (no idea what does she say in the English version, I watched the movie in Spanish) to Pepa's rain cloud anytime someone mentions her brother. These three are so great, I wish they had had more screentime together.
—The fact that Pepa's actually pretty done with her mother's pressure! *—* All those "¡Ya lo sé, mamá!", "¡Ya lo estoy intentando!", "¡Alégrate de que no sea un huracán!" every time that Alma remarks she 'has a cloud' were wonderful. It adds an extra layer to Pepa's character, but it also felt so realistic, because it's not like if everyone in the house were following Alma mindlessly without a word. Her daughters are grown up women too, and they confront her when necessary, even if they keep respecting her as the head of the family. Another portrayal of the dynamics between the family's elders that I really appreciated.
—The fact that Julieta spoke out to her mother to be gentler with Mirabel, and how clear she was later telling Alma that Mirabel's desperation was her fault. The way Julieta protects and loves her daughter means a lot, because she clearly adores her, but she also escapes the stereotype of cheesy loving mamá without personality which only purpose is to stand there and support the main character in everything like some sort of dummy. Perhaps Julieta thought Mirabel was imagining things when she saw Casita's cracks during Antonio's fiesta, but she didn't gaslight her daughter about it, she was genuinely worried about her stressing herself out to that point, because Julieta knows better than anyone what such stress can do to a person (due to her brother and her sister), and understands the value of taking a break.
—Actually, one of my absolute favorite things of the movie was this network of relationships. We're used to see how everything usually focuses on the main character: we see how everyone interacts with the protagonist, what they mean to the protagonist, all the paths seem to lead to the protagonist. But here there're many stories running on the background: the relationship of Pepa, Julieta and Bruno with their mother and between them, the husbands/brothers-in-law supporting their wives and children, the missing abuelo and the abuela's trauma, Dolores' secret love, Isa and Luisa's worries, Bruno's guilt… Every one of them has their own story, and the tapestry they create is just great. I've always missed this kind of thing in Disney movies and I'm so happy they've finally given it to us.
—Felix and Agustín are the best husbands/fathers ever, my God. I saw someone commenting Felix and Pepa have Gómez/Morticia vibes and THAT'S SO TRUE, lol. Also, the amount of casual kisses or affectionate touches the couples shared made me smile so much, it's wonderful being able to find some healthy, functional marriages in their fifties being in love and acting like a team.
—THAT MOMENT when Mirabel goes to check the candle and hears Alma praying to Pedro, alsjfkgldjajtl, omfg, that hit hard, because my abuelas ALWAYS DID THE SAME THING. One of them widowed some years before our Civil War, when she was on her thirties with 4 children to raise, and Alma reminded me of her so much I'm getting emotional again right now writing about it T_______T
—How well Luisa portrays not just the middle-child complex, but also the pressure that society imposes on women to be strong, to handle every chore and every burden, to never take a break, to not show weakness, to be always available for other's needs. Madre mía, they did something great with Luisa's character and I have a lot to say about it. Also, that what she needs to learn is that she deserves rest, time to take care of herself, to be more than a mula de carga, and that crying is ok if you need it. What a beautiful moment when, during "All of you", she says "yeah, but sometimes I cry" and Isa and Mirabel just go "ME TOO :D" and they hug, like… yeah, we're a mess, but we can be a mess together, and that's fucKING WONDERFUL.
—The same goes for Isa, because she represents so well both the eldest child complex and the stereotype of perfection society imposes on women. I love how all her little gestures of annoyance towards Mirabel showed how much effort she was putting on keeping her façade in place. She played the role of perfect nieta for Alma to make her proud, and it's absolutely realistic that her little sister without any responsibilities and her carefree attitude were getting on her nerves. From Isa's point of view, Mirabel has nothing to prove to anyone, because nobody expects great things of her, while she has to carry all the weight of being not just the eldest sister, but the eldest nieta. I'm the youngest in my family, so Mirabel's feeling of isolation, of never being enough, of being left behind, is more relatable to me. But I know the struggles eldest children have to face too, and the tension between these two is one of my favorite parts of Mirabel's journey. They reminded me a lot of some of my best friends' relationships with their sisters, and their reconciliation left me very emotional too.
—All the little tics and rituals of Bruno, lol. And his design, his behavior, his love for his family, EVERYTHING ABOUT BRUNO. The idea of Dolores hearing him in the walls all those years (and communicating with him somehow) lives rent free in my heart. But I especially love that moment when Alma cut off his speech with a hug and that loving "Brunito" before kissing him softly, it made my fucking day. That, and the triplets' reunion, THAT GROUP HUG, HELL YES, I ASKED THIS MOVIE JUST ONE THING AND IT GAVE IT TO ME, HOW COULDN'T I LOVE IT.
—THE CLIMAX with that amazing argument between Alma and Mirabel, omfg, I was on tears the whole scene. I loved how afraid of confronting the abuela Isa and Luisa were, bending like puppies, and I thought it was necessary they reacted that way, because then Mirabel's speech could stand out. Mirabel is the family hero in that moment, the only one brave enough to yell to Alma all the truths she needs to hear and tell her to stop that madness. And I also love Alma's outburst, spitting out all that shit that was eating her from inside (the problems began with you, Bruno left because of you, Bruno left because he didn't care about us, I'm losing all of them because everything is going to hell because of you). Fuck, I love Alma so much, because she's a broken woman with so so soooo much fear that it blinds her, and she's losing what she cares the most about because she's unable to handle it any longer. After 50 years forced to be the strong matriarch everyone relies on, she finally reaches her limit, faces something she doesn't know how to manage, and when she blows up, so does Casita. She's imperfect, she was wrong, she screwed things up, and the movie LET HER BE THAT WAY without vilifying her, because she's not a villain, she's just a fallible human. That's the point: women are people and they have the right to be something more than the pure, sweet lil princess or the evil witch. I know it's not perfect, I know they could've done better, but really, this must be one of the best examples of complex female characters in Disney, if not The Best.
—THE WHOLE SCENE OF DOS ORUGUITAS, but especially those last kisses Pedro gave to his babies and his wife, just before facing their attackers, HOLY SHIT T__T AND ALMA'S BREAKDOWN SEING HIM DIE *cries an ocean*
—And finally the very best thing of the whole movie: Alma acknowledging Mirabel's pain and apologizing, AND Mirabel acknowledging Alma's suffering/trauma and showing her explicit understanding. THIS is the heart of Encanto and I can't be more grateful for it. Coco failed spectacularly achieving this, because Miguel never acknowledged explicitly Imelda's grief. The most sympathetic thing he said to her great-great-grandma was "you don't have to forgive him if you don't want to", and so a lot of people just saw in Imelda an overdramatic bitch full of senseless hate. That pissed me off, like if being abandoned by your husband at 20something with a 4 years old baby to raise right after a fucking war wasn't bad enough to cause her her own trauma (but, well, what can I say, Pixar uses to be pretty hostile towards its female characters and women in general). I was expecting a lot more of Encanto, and the movie gave me just what I wanted, SO THANK YOU SO MUCH. The ¿sorority? (what's the fucking term for "sororidad" in English?) between the women in this movie is so outstanding I wanna scream.
And that leads me to the last point: I LOVED that Mirabel's adventure wasn't an individual search of some kind of great achievement for herself nor learning how to be strong alone. I LOVED Encanto was about a girl talking and bonding with her family, listening to them, making them listening to her, walking together the path of understanding and forgiveness and working together to rebuilt their relationship. The more I think about it, the more I feel like crying again, because holy shit… it's beautiful af.

Distraction
Summary:
Jeff is given the choice to save his family and forfeit the world.
Characters: Jeff Tracy, Gordon Tracy, Tracy Family
A/N: just a fun scene that I didnt feel like creating a whooooole story for 8D
OoOoOoO
Grey eyes stared down the man pacing before him, the smug explanation of his devilish plan only serving to enrage Jeff even more than he had been. Considering the villain had his family locked up somewhere in the base, he hadn't imagined his ire could grow any further.
The Hood stopped to lean against the console across from the chair Jeff had been secured to, his arms crossing over his chest in triumph, "So, you've heard my terms. What say you, Mr. Tracy?"
"I don't think you realize how impossible your plan is," he let the growl in his tone convey the danger the man was in should the cuffs come free. "I can't simply sign Tracy Industries over to you."
"Then shut it down," unwavered, the Hood's grin spread. "I can't have your family in my way any longer, so I'll be cutting International Rescue off at its source. No money, no Thunderbirds."

May I ask for your nsfw reikasa headcanons 😳 for the As you Are universe and the It’s Gotta Be you universe? 😁
Did someone ask for some N.S.F.W headcanons? *__*
ReiKasa Fic AU/Modern AUHeadcanons (R18+) #1
Hello Nonnie!
Your Ask is the most pleasant surprise this last weekend but old is gold! <3 I have no excuse for the delay other than I was cramming up all my brain power to finish Part 1 of Until Dawn. (Do check it out when you have the time!) Thank you so much for the honor! I got you fam, so please find below some seriously steamy headcanons (Content Warning: Mature Readers only!) omg i am blushing hard while I’m writing this haha
Tumblr media
Let’s go for ReiKasa in Canonverse then the modern AU ;)
As You Are
** Contains reimagining of scenes yet to be written/published in As You Are. So some fic spoilers ahead!
In Ch.12, it was heavily implied that after consummating their marriage, Reiner & Mikasa actually got to another round of ‘lovemaking’ in the shower. When their first time had been gentle, slow and tender, the shower sex was quite the opposite. It was harder and urgent.
At this point, Reiner discovered four new things about his new wife: i) Mikasa actually loves it when he pressed her hard against the wall and took her from behind, ii) Mikasa’s weakness is her breasts *points to point i*, iii) Mikasa has a muscle kink. She came on his third deep thrust in the shower, biting hard on his forearm as she did, and iv) Mikasa’s favorite position would be standing up because of *points to point iii* She loves seeing the way his muscles protruded when they flexed to support her weight. That explains the impromptu war room sexing afterwards.
Meanwhile Mikasa discovered three new things about her new husband: i) Reiner has not even a single scar on his body due to his shifter powers when she has numerous marks on hers from long-term ODM usage & that one time when she got her ribs broken by a Titan, ii) Reiner loves the tattoo on her back and the scars on her body, and iii) Reiner’s weak spot is his nape. The moment she bites his nape, he just gets hard.
Both Mikasa & Reiner are biters. But Reiner is the ‘territorial’ one. By the next morning, Mikasa’s skin looked like she had a really severe rash on her neck and her chest. No wonder Gabi was worried. Mikasa had to wear high collared blouses for one week, even inside their shared home.
Mikasa is the first one to initiate oral sex. She is after all, a seasoned blade wielder ;D
In future chapters, the first time Reiner went down on his wife was because of yeap, jealousy & yes, his ‘territorial instinct’. Lets just say it will have something to do with Porco ‘Pussy-eater’ Galliard ;) Galliard will be making a move on his dear wife at a function and Reiner is not happy about it.
Reiner loves seeing Mikasa in a formal kimono and getting her out of it - layer by layer.
Reiner & Mikasa have a very balanced power play in the bedroom. When he’s the dominant one, she’ll be the one yielding and vice versa. This couple is bound to have angry/jealous sex somewhere down the road and things can get very ugly when it happens. But, that only happens when the balance is thrown off the scale.
Reiner actually has amazing hands made for awesome massages. In a future chapter, we’d learn that things get hot and heavy inside their private onsen at the Azumabito Residence and it all begins with a simple back rub. *winks*
-----
It’s Gotta Be You
10 Date Rule (thank you @shingeki-no-scenarios for some of this amazing ideas!)
Right before their first official date, Reiner suggested the 10 Date Rule to Mikasa, which she agreed to, as he wants to prove to her that he’s not like the other men she’s dated before, who expected sex on the first date. There was only one rule: the only physical display of affections allowed are only a chaste kiss & hand-holding. Just that.
The first 3 dates had been outside so it was very sweet and very innocent. Reiner would always end their date at her front door with a simple kiss on her forehead or her cheeks. They had a night in on the 5th date and that was when things got interesting.
5th Date - Reiner made dinner at her house and they spend the rest of the evening just cuddling on the sofa, watching a rom-com movie together. Just having his arms around her was actually enough to turn her on but Reiner was very persistent in keeping their date chaste. Mikasa just had to leave a pair of sexy lace teddy lingerie hanging at the back of her bathroom door. Reiner can’t stop himself from imagining her in that.
6th & 7th Date - Reiner had to borrow one of Bertolt’s old hoodies from college with some questionable stains on it to help him be less attractive on their consecutive home dates. Mikasa just had to be a tease by spending the rest of the evening in a pair of tiny midriff shirt and a pair of lace boxers, devouring her Green Tea Häagen-Dazs and licking the spoon clean with a loud slurp or sipping on the straw for her smoothie too fucking slow. There had been a lot of tongue action coming from her that two nights. Reiner had to imagine a naked Zeke to kill whatever potential boner he could have had. It was torture.
8th Date - They had candlelight dinner and slow danced. The grinding wasn’t helping. Oh, and that off-shoulder red dress she was wearing on purpose, he was so close to ripping it off her that night.
9th Date - Zeke came over for a visit & ended up drunk-crashing at Mikasa’s place. Reiner had to stay over to help just in case & just the mere thought of Zeke just killed whatever romantic mood they were in. Felt like they were babysitting a grown-ass baby brother.
10th Date - Reiner had bought champagne to celebrate their tenth date at his place & he actually spruced up his bedroom with rose petals and those fancy scented candles to set up the mood for their long-awaited sexy time. However, Mikasa had to sit in an emergency surgery that night and ended up sleeping in the Medical Centre’s staff room in exhaustion and totally missed their scheduled 10th date. They made up with a lunch date the next day and they definitely went to town that night at his house. They never even made it to the bedroom ;)
People just assumed that they have a frequent & super active sex life. It’s quite the opposite as they enjoy more domestic activities together like baking and home improvements. But they still maintain a weekly date night even after being engaged to each other. Reiner’s a super cuddler so he’ll be the one who initiates the little intimate gestures in public. But behind closed doors, Mikasa would be the more handsy one, which Reiner really loves.
Reiner is built like a Greek God and Mikasa made sure to ‘accidentally’ walked into the bathroom whenever he’s in the shower ;) While Reiner always made sure he’ll be in the living room when Mikasa practices her yoga routine. Just so he can plan ahead on which position he can get her in the next time they’re in the mood ;D omg that sounds more pervy than I intended
Mikasa loves to wear one of Reiner’s shirts when they’re at home together because she knows it will drive him crazy with need.
Reiner occasionally wears reading glasses at home and Mikasa gets weak in the knees when he does. She almost always like to get down and dirty while he’s wearing the glasses :)
They spent their first Christmas together with the Jeagers and Zeke almost walked in on them having a quickie in their dad’s basement.
Reiner & Mikasa would be those couples that still have a burning fire in their relationship even as they grew older. That’s also how baby Ryder was conceived unexpectedly when the twins, Rémy & Miraé just turned 10. They thought they were done having babies 8D
-------
I had super fun time working on this headcanon, Nonnie! I hope you like it 💖 Keep ‘em coming if you’d like to read more & please don’t be discouraged from sending in Asks because sometimes it’ll take a long time for me to write because of my other writing projects/RL commitments but I would always follow through :3
Thank you & take care!
xoxo

If you had to pick one name/alias/moniker to go by, fandom-wide, what would it be?
Where, besides Tumblr, can people find you doing fannish things? (Obviously only mention sites and usernames you actually want to be found at. Don’t expose your secret identities on my account.)
What other names have you gone by on these platforms, including Tumblr, if any?
When did you join the IT fandom? And what got you into fandom, to begin with?
What are your favorite ships, or characters, if any, and why? What do they mean to you?
In what ways do you participate in fandom? (ex. Posting memes, reblogging/commenting on content, writing fanfic, making fanart, creating fanmixes, etc.)
Do you have any in-fandom inspirations? Other members of the community that drive you? (And if you have the time/energy, in what ways do they inspire you?)
Name and link some of your favorite works, please!
Do you have any works of your own that you feel particularly proud of, or wish more people would’ve consumed? Please provide links if possible.
Have you ever participated in a fannish event (ie. IT Week, a fic Big Bang) or applied to be a part of a fanzine? If so, which ones, and can you please link them?
Without any form of bashing or lashing out, what is something you feel this fandom is missing?
First of all thank you so much for asking me!!! 8D It was a pleasure to answer all these questions. During this I got quite emotional (haha Stanpat, Eddie). It showed me again how much I love this 8DDD
( I apologize in advance for all misspellings and my sloppy English =_=)
If you had to pick one name/alias/moniker to go by, fandom-wide, what would it be?
Oh, what a start XD I'm not that into nicknames. Generally people using my first name to address me or my username which is mostly onyprince (in reference to a character from Hakuouki) ID Sometimes they say Oni or J(ay) (Nickname for my first name). Do as you wish (though I like ‘J’ the th most) 😉
Where, besides Tumblr, can people find you doing fannish things? (Obviously only mention sites and usernames you actually want to be found at. Don’t expose your secret identities on my account.)
Twitter. But everything I post there is also here. Feel free to follow my account, but you don’t have to. https://twitter.com/oniprince_
What other names have you gone by on these platforms, including Tumblr, if any?
Oniprince_ (Twitter) yeah… you see, I am pretty boring XDDD
When did you join the IT fandom? And what got you into fandom, to begin with?
Actually 23 years ago (haha I am old XD) When I was eleven I saw the miniseries with my cousins for the first time. The horror factor wasn't that important to me or maybe I didn't see it that way. It was more like an adventure story with an unfunny and nasty clown. A group of friends who had to endure an adventure. In any case, it entertained me well, even if I was not aware of some elements like that it’s a story about growing up, friendship, love and all these issues around becoming an adult XDD Then with 13 I read the book. It was a  new experience, and I loved every single word. Over the years I talked with friends and Kingsianer (XD) about it and read it for a second and a third time. At this point I could start a list with things I don’t like about the movies, but I’d rather mention on thing I really appreciate about them: they are a good opportunity for a new generation to explore this universe. Every adaption like the book itself is a reflection of a specific decade and what is more yeah… immortal, universal and diverse than a story about growing up. It was a discussion with a dear friend about book to movie adaptions some weeks ago that probably brought me back to this fandom
Nevertheless there are things from the book I would have loved to see in the movies. Let’s be honest at this point if you want to adapt such a brick of a book you simply have to cut some elements. You can’t please everyone
What are your favorite ships, or characters, if any, and why? What do they mean to you?
Ships:
Stanpat - orz q__q they are such a sweet couple and it is so heartbreaking, they never ever had a real chance to become parents. They would have been excellent parents. Imagine them on a beautiful summer day. They have a picnic with their children and Stan would watch birds with them. He would tell them all about the birds and keeps a journal about their observations with his kids
Reddie - Despite the constant teasing their realtionship seems like a natural, casual und easy thing from the start. And Eddie likes the nicknames. These secret names are like another identity. He can be someone else. They take care of each other. Their relationship is a deeper friendship that runs mostly on an emotional level and is sometimes expressed through small, physical gestures. The chemistry between them is indescribable. It is cute when 90s Eddie immediately starts to giggle as soon as Richie makes a dumb joke at their reunion. And thing about the little moments when Richie pokes Eddie and calls him cute. I am won’t quoting this one passage in the book that leaves much room for speculations, but there is no doubt their special bond is official. In any case, the decision to make Richie gay in the movies gave the ship another push. I don’t complain. I love it. Though I still think Eddie would have been a better option. There are already some scenes in the book which are like an invitation to speculate about his sexualityTheir chemistry is very obvious and believe me, there is nothing I would more appreciate than a happy end for them Q__Q
Benverly  „Your hair is winter fire
                   January embers
                  My heart burns there, too
This is one of sweetest things I have ever read in a book and that is all I need to explain why I love this ship.
Fav, Characters:  Hmm when I read „IT“ for the first time I had a crush on Bill. He ist the born leader and in my childish, pre-teen way found his stuttering cute. There is something about him that cast a spell on you. It is perfectly understandable that he was a role model and an inspiration for his friends – especially for Eddie. In my personal opinion book!Bill ist the best Bill.
Richie - I love this chaotic megane dude. He is this silly type who use jokes, pranks to protect himself. His voices are like safe heaven (the same goes for Bill, whose stuttering almost disappears, when he pretends tob e someone else). He hides himself and his insecurities behind them. It is a shame that he doesn’t know what an impact he had on his friends. Richie seems to never ever shut up and sometimes his trashmouth is still talking, when he better should be quite. And I am famous to fall for funny characters. He can lights up the mood immediately ( and OMG…. I love Harry Anderson in the miniseries. A real entertainer, BUT BILL HADER…. Bill Hader…just to make it clear BILL HADER  did such an amazing job. He rocked the movie and I still think, not just because I love this dude since over a decade, without him… the movie wouldn’t  have been so entertaining)
Eddie - He is in these abusive relationships. First with his mother, who keeps him small and makes him believe that he is weak. At the end her own fears of beeing left behind prevented her son from becoming a self-confident adult. Eddie always thought he is weak and fragile. Although he knows that he doesn’t need all this medication, his childhood experience were the reason for his coping-behavior as an adult – he still uses his inhaler. He married a woman who is like his mother. Mike's call was something of a turning point. Until this call Eddie could not overcome his fears and had to face them again as an adult. I can remember. While reading the book there were several moments of silence and I stopped reading and thought: poor Eddie.
Ultimately, his story is about a hero who surpasses himself, overcomes his fears and by sacrifice himself he protects what is most important to him - his friends. It just touched me. Eddie gave his life for his friends and I think you can say he's my favorite character. His death may be a tragedy, but it was necessary for his character arc. My theory is that Eddie represents someone who has lost track in his life and prefer to stick on old but unhealthy patterns. It is almost like Eddie stands for missed opportunities, but at the same time it is never to late to change something. He is a hero. There are so many things I would like to talk about, therefore I should start an own thread XDDD
Oh and Bev - I could always identify with her (not bc of abuse or domestic violence. My childhood was amazing). She is the only girl around the losers and I was the only girl in my  favourite clique too. We spent most of our time outside  - it was great. Of course I had other friends (female) as well, but with my boys… it was always special).. As you know as an adult she falls back in old patterns. Her husband is tyrannical man like her father. Again Mike’s call is a turning point.  Maybe the Benverly arc is the most satisfying. I was… I am very happy that Bev got her happy end.
Last but no least - I like Ben, Mike and Stan too. They have all there unique character treats and you sympathize with all of them. The Loser’s club is bunch of adorable idiots who just doing their best to become adults. I think it is normal that their friendship feels more intimate in the book – I highly recommand the book.
In what ways do you participate in fandom? (ex. Posting memes, reblogging/commenting on content, writing fanfic, making fanart, creating fanmixes, etc.)
Mostly fanarts, but recently I thought about posting my own theories and sharing my hcs and random stuff about the characters and the different relations.
Do you have any in-fandom inspirations? Other members of the community that drive you? (And if you have the time/energy, in what ways do they inspire you?)
The fandom is full of amazing artists and writersand actually it would be a, but i want to name those who inspired me the most (mainly artists – hopefully I copied the links correcty):

Have you ever seen something as cozy and cute before I///D? – me neither XD
Trust me they are all worth a visit and I am sure most of us already know them 8D
Do you have any works of your own that you feel particularly proud of, or wish more people would’ve consumed? Please provide links if possible.
My art I provide on tumblr can be found here:

Honestly I like these the most:

Have you ever participated in a fannish event (ie. IT Week, a fic Big Bang) or applied to be a part of a fanzine? If so, which ones, and can you please link them?
Oh… unfortunately I am not feelin‘ very confident about my own artworks. Sometims I have the feeling I am not creative enough and that my ideas are more or less boring. Nothing special ID Totally dumb – I know. As I mentioned before I came back lately to the fandom… I guess I missed many amazing IT weeks. I participated in some weeks/mainly shipweeks in other fandoms (Yakuza/Ryu ga Gotoku, FFXV) If I find an interesting annoucement I can imagine to participate in the future ; )
Without any form of bashing or lashing out, what is something you feel this fandom is missing?
In general… the fandom is really friendly – I hope so. Lately I have seen some salty comments on different stuff, topics… and well.. I have just an advice: life can be exhausting enough and time is always running. Don’t spend time on things you don’t like. Discussions can esclate quickly and worde can hurt too. So, just thing about before you jump in.
Thanks again! <3
(Special lil sketchy piece of art I did for this ask)

The Patching Up Scene! 8D
After they hand off an excited Skywalker to the pilots in the cockpit, Jango isn’t completely sure why he follows Kenobi, though part of it is curiosity and another part practicality. Kenobi shoots him a questioning look when they reach his quarters.
“Do you need help with some of those wounds?” he offers. There’s one he can see, wrapping around Kenobi’s right side to his back. Jetii powers or not, he doubts Kenobi can treat it properly on his own.
“Oh…” Kenobi hesitates for a moment, but ultimately nods. “Yes, please, if you don’t mind.”
Okay, I honestly did not plan for this scene to happen! It just naturally happened, the next logical thing. Obvs Jango likes Obi, but also after a battle, you patch up your fighters. Nothing to question about it. *nods*
Between the two of them, they gather up the ship’s medkit, a small basin for the antiseptic wash, and a few scraps of clean cloth, before returning to the jetiise’s room.
The moment Kenobi unties his belt and starts unwrapping his tabard and tunics, sand begins skittering to the floor. Jango eyes the growing pile, thankful it isn’t his problem to clean up.
“Shouldn’t have laid down in the sand. You’ll be getting rid of it for days,” he says, and Kenobi shoots him a weak glare.
“I was tired,” Kenobi grumbles. “Besides, sand gets everywhere anyways.”
Kenobi strips down to his smalls with all the modesty -- or rather, lack thereof -- of a warrior who has been in front of too many medics. The myriad of scars of different ages on his body is certainly evidence of that. Jango is still baffled, because he’s fairly sure jetiise were less...careless with their padawans than that, but he saves those questions for later.
Obi’s childhood, man...and the scars you see are only the ones on the outside.
The wounds from the darjetii, now fully visible, makes Jango want to hiss in sympathy. Kenobi has two shallow burns on his left arm and one on his right forearm to join the old jetii’kad scars. But the Zabrak had cut deep into Kenobi’s right upper arm. Jango couldn’t quite see bone, but Kenobi is kriffing lucky to not have any nerve damage - at least, not that he could tell. Other than the wound that wraps around Kenobi’s side that he’d noted earlier, the last is a slash across the side of his left thigh, not as deep as the ugly one on his arm but deep enough.
I imagine some of the old lightsaber sabers came from too many tussles with Bruck.
You’ve got some pretty important nerves and arteries in your upper arm ie the radial nerve LOL The outer side of your thigh, not as much, hence the instructions for epipen injections to be given against the side of your thigh. 8D /random trivia
He’s honestly impressed that Kenobi could walk or move his arms so freely, much less continue fighting the way he had.
“Well, at least you’re not bleeding,” is all Jango can say.
Hurraaay instant cauterization (oof the burned tissue though)
Kenobi grimaces and sits himself down on the bunk they’d set the supplies on.
“Painkillers?” Jango asks, opening the medkit.
Kenobi shakes his head. “I’m alright for now. Perhaps before I sleep,” Kenobi says. “The Force helps me dull the pain.”
Jango huffs. More jetii sorcery, though that explains a lot.
He finds the antiseptic wash and pours it into the basin over the cloth they’d collected. They clean their hands, and Kenobi starts wiping clean his left arm, careful over the burns.
I almost glossed over this stuff, but it pained me to not mention CLEAN HANDS. Clean hands during wound care, folks. I restrained myself from having them dig out gloves or something LOL
“I’ve got your side,” Jango warns Kenobi, before pressing a dampened cloth to his right side. He starts cleaning the wound from Kenobi’s front before moving to his back.
Jango should have expected it, but somehow he hadn’t. Up close, he sees barely-there Lichtenberg scars that he’s seen before on others, from electro-jabbers held too long against skin. He also sees whip scars across Kenobi’s upper back, faded enough for Jango to tell he had gotten them far too young.
The slave guards on Bandomeer, to quote, “beat them savagely with an electro-jabber.” I imagine prolonged contact with an electro-jabber would lead to injury and scarring like you’d see in a lighting strike but smaller/more localized. (Note: Some caution if you  google what it looks like!)
“How old were you?” he can’t help himself from asking, but managing at least to keep the words less sharp than he had wanted.
“What?” Kenobi starts to twist to look at him but thinks better of it.
Jango brushes a hand along one of the whip scars instead of explaining, and Kenobi stiffens for a moment, before relaxing. He moves on to cleaning his leg wound, and Jango thinks he might not answer, which is fair. Jango resumes cleaning the side wound.
“I was just shy of thirteen," Kenobi suddenly says. "Deepsea mining on Bandomeer."
Jango curses under his breath and has to keep himself from inadvertently pressing too hard on Kenobi’s wound.
Thirteen, as a mining slave. A deepsea mining slave.
Every slave knows that deepsea mining is the one of the worst positions to be in. The life expectancy is five to ten years maximum. Kriffing hell, some slavers use deepsea mining as a threat to make their slaves behave.
This I unfortunately based on what I learned about slavery on sugar cane plantations in the (American) South. Being sent South, to a sugar cane plantation, was a threat (Northern) slave owners would use to make their slaves behave. Life expectancy decreased dramatically if you were working on a sugar cane plantation. (If you’re in New Orleans for tourist purposes, many people recommend Oak Alley Plantation. But that’s because it’s very pretty. It glosses over its history of slavery though, and its tour focuses on the owners. Please go visit Whitney Plantation too. They do not gloss over the history and all the awful things that happened there. The tour guides are phenomenal, and you learn a lot from them.)
"It was only for a week, but it was long enough to...understand," Kenobi murmurs.
Long enough for him to have scars to this day. To say nothing about however it must have kriffed him up at thirteen.
"One day would have been too long," Jango growls. "Where was your jetii master in all this?"
He gestures roughly at Kenobi’s right arm, and Kenobi holds out his arm for Jango. Jango begins carefully cleaning around the deep wound.
“He wasn’t my master then,” Kenobi says. “To make a long and rather complicated story short, I had been sent away to AgriCrops on Bandomeer as a--failed initiate, and got myself involved in Master Qui-gon’s mission on Bandomeer. I discovered Offworld Mining tampering with AgriCorps and was captured...I woke up as a slave on one of their deepsea mining platforms.”
Even that sparse a recounting is too much to unpack. But foremost on his mind, the jetiise had sent Kenobi away to be a farmer? With everything Kenobi has said and especially considering the duel Jango had just witnessed...had they been blind? If there is such a thing as a good jetii, Kenobi is likely it.
👀👀👀 @ Jango
“How’d you get out?” Jango asks.
“Master Qui-gon found me. He disabled my collar, and we escaped the guards. We managed to disable the other slaves’ collars once we were on the mainland as well. They revolted and freed themselves,” Kenobi says with a small quirk of his lips.
Jango grunts in approval. “Good on them.” He drops his cloth into the basin. “Let’s get patches on your burns and your side. Your arm definitely needs stitches. It’s up to you on the leg.”
Kenobi looks at his leg wound thoughtfully. “Are there any of those deep incision BactaBonds?” he asks. “If not, then stitches will do.”
Mentioned it on AO3, but I based BactaBond off of Dermabond. it’s Dermabond but more magical because bacta.
Jango pulls out all the bacta patches they’ll need for Kenobi’s burns and side wound before digging around the kit. Sure enough, he finds a tube of BactaBond and the roll of mesh tape that came with it.
“You’re in luck.”
He hands the BactaBond and the mesh tape to Kenobi. Kenobi nods in thanks and begins fixing up his leg wound. Jango starts placing patches over the wound wrapping around his side.
Okay, so I want to note that when you have burnt up tissue, you’re supposed to remove the dead tissue when cleaning up burns because that dead tissue isn’t gonna do you much, but I didn’t want to get more detailed than I already was, and I decided to just...handwave it as part of the magical bacta healing effect LOL
They work in silence. Jango knows from experience the BactaBond and mesh tape can be an absolute kriffing pain to apply properly, so he tries not to disturb Kenobi as he finishes patching up his side.
He waits for Kenobi to finish with the mesh tape before handing him some dressing to cover the whole thing. They quickly cover up the burns on Kenobi’s arms with bacta patches before finally addressing the deep cut on his right arm.
“Are you sure you don’t want pain killers?” Jango asks, assessing the wound. It really is a nasty injury. With the BactaBond, he could probably get away with one layer of stitches instead of two or three.
“I will be alright,” Kenobi says again and hands Jango the BactaBond.
Jango grunts. “Suit yourself.”
He applies the BactaBond into the wound before pressing the wound edges firmly together. Kenobi doesn’t even flinch, sitting there quietly with his eyes closed while Jango picks up the suture needle and begins stitching close the wound.
I would like to draw this scene one day. Or someone can draw it for me. LOL
After some consideration, Jango says, “I was sold to a spice transport.” He keeps his focus on closing the wound as tidily as he can, but he can feel Kenobi’s gaze on his face. “I was there for two years.”
"...How did you end up escaping?" he asked.
"Pirates attacked the ship. I freed myself in the confusion and ended up making a deal with the pirates.”
“Quite a few pirates would take the spice and the slaves…” Kenobi remarks.
“I had the upper hand on them. Besides, ‘Hondo Ohnaka would never deal with slavery’,” he quotes, “or so he claims.”
"Ah," Kenobi says in the tone of everyone who has ever met Hondo Ohnaka. Jango pauses in his suturing to look at Kenobi.
"You’ve met."
Kenobi sighs, sounding as exasperated as anyone who has dealt with Ohnaka. “It was a very...trying mission.” He smiles wryly.
HONDO OHNAKA IS A DELIGHT. Also I love the idea that the pirates who attacked that spice transport and gave Jango the opportunity to escape were Hondo’s crew. Idea thanks to blue_sunshine’s Desert Storm.
Also the ways in which Jango and Obi can connect with their experiences. Just aaaaaaah *flailing Kermit*
“I am not surprised.” Jango finishes up the sutures and assesses his handiwork. It’ll do. “Patch or plain dressing on top?” he asks. He thinks plain dressing would do just fine, but the patch might not hurt considering the extent of the wound.
Kenobi gestures to the patch, so Jango applies the patch.
“Done. Listen to Jinn and get some rest. I was tired just watching that fight,” Jango says.
Kenobi gives him a half-hearted glare, but doesn’t make a word in protest as Jango stands and starts collecting all their first aid detritus. Despite his protests, Jango suspects Kenobi’s ready to pass out.
An hour long high speed lightsaber duel in the sand. Can’t believe Obi wasn’t asleep on his feet. LOL

Recovered from a mini art block a few days ago, thanks to a few suggestions from my fellow watchers on deviantART and an upcoming piece featuring my fave crossover ship - Synth x Kaa/Kanye but for now, a lil’ something for my dear @x-elyssa-x‘s Trolls Night Club AU - my trollsona a.k.a moi, city style! 8D 🌇 Inspired by a few outfits from The Sims 4: City Living DLC during a Google search, I wished to capture what I’d look like, living the city lifestyle. With my beloved Cooper, of course - who I’ve been happily married to for over a year and trying for a trolling of our own in this AU~ >w< I also imagined this is how the scene would look from Gang Boss, Slash’s point of view when I am taking a stroll in the city and he spies me from his limo for the very first time...o_o; Glad I took the opportunity to design another look for me, I LOVE how my new city style turned out!✨😍 Especially the dress and handbag, hehe~💝 Hope y’all like too, especially you, Elyssa! ✌ 💕 *mega-hugs* =^.^= This was so much fun to do with brining your AU more to life~💖 ;3
*~Reblogs are also deeply appreciated as well, so please do reblog as well as like! Thank-you kindly!~*

My apologies for the generic question, but do you have any advice on how to go about planning a comic? It feels like I have a thousand things to do before I can start working on pages, but it gets super overwhelming and I don’t know where to start! Also... how well do you find managing a warriors sized cast? Mine is also going to be a warriors comic, and while I’m trying to keep cast members low, I don’t want it to seem like it’s not really a clan, ya know? Just finding balance, I guess.
I'll answer this in two parts if that's okay! :D Warning: RAMBLES AHEAD.
I start with a very brief plot synopsis. I write it as if it were the excerpt on the back of the book, and write down a short list of themes I want to focus on.
Then write a list of scenes and what purpose each serves to the plot. Is this scene important? What does it contribute to the story and characters? I confess I deviated from it a few times for better or worse. Once I figured out every scene for the whole comic (and I mean the WHOLE COMIC. Some extra scenes added in are okay, but try and plan it all out in advance), I go into scripting. My scripting is really rough, mostly just approximate dialogue that might change as I go along, as well as vital expressions, body language, and other things that might be crucial for the scene. Once that's done, I move onto storyboarding. I use a very small binder and rough out the layout for the pages. I might end up redoing pages but its easier to redo a page at this stage as compared to a mostly finished page.
But I'm not entirely sure what I'm doing, this is just what I've learned so far, haha. I hope it helps a little!! ;v; Good luck with your project!! You got this!!
Tumblr media
Moving onto the next question, another thing to keep in mind is what characters you need to focus on. I go by stages, first being the absolute main characters most affective to the plot (Redtail, Sandpaw, Oakheart, and Tigerclaw). The next step down is crucial side characters that affect the plot and merit attention but aren't central to it (Whitestorm, Dustpaw, Spottedleaf, and Bluestar). Then there's everyone else. It's REALLY HARD to balance all these characters, and I suck at balancing them. ^^; My suggestion from what I've learned is to pick your most crucial characters and figure them all out as well as possible. Imagine how they interact, what their dynamic is, how they each get along with each other, how they contribute to each others' arcs and drive each others' development further.  I focus entirely on my basic cast and use everyone else as sort of cameos to try to illustrate the size of the clan without absolutely killing me. 8D Characters like Spottedleaf and soon Lionheart kind of help to show the comradery and connection between the clanmates.

Me spazzing about OL Love or Dead (part 4)
Yes, I’m still continuing this, there’s nothing else to do during the weekends, Ossan’s Love is the only thing keeping me sane lately asdfghjkl
...So I’ve been looking forward to Haruta and MakiPapa’s (his name is Yoshirou!!) interaction in the movie but I didn’t expect their scene to be this serious! D: But I really feel for Haruta, he has truly matured these past few years and you can feel how much he really treasures Maki! He’s been saying the correct things, how admirable (his outfit looks presentable enough too despite not being dressed by Maki lol)!
Tumblr media
OK, but wow, how special is Maki that his boss is the one to fetch him from the hospital. XD;
Tumblr media
BUT HARUTAAAAA ;;__;; (Although I must admit seeing Haruta with these painful expressions is refreshing because Maki used to be the ones to have this type of expression back in the drama haha! XD)
Tumblr media
By the way, I think the Haruta-Justice scene on the rooftop after this is too long, and the Haruta-Buchou “imagination” scene is unnecessary. 8D They could have trimmed these scenes a bit, instead of not including that one VERY IMPORTANT Haruta scene that the officials just decided to put as a bonus footage in the bonus disc apparently because of limited movie time. Also, it would have been great if they allotted more time for this important Haruta-MakiMama (her name is Shino!!) conversation (they cut the scene in the movie just before it was getting cute augh)~!
Tumblr media
Anyway, I will forever love Maki’s mother for being supportive, always so thankful knowing that Maki has such a loving family! >< But I wanted to see Maki+his family and Haruta in the same frame again! D: *sighs* Oh well...
FINALLY THE FIREWORKS FESTIVAL dsfhdkfjs!!!
I’m 100% sure that Haruta first marveled from afar at how perfect and beautiful his boyfriend is before finally approaching him, nobody can convince me otherwise, that’s the relevance of this angle hoho.
Tumblr media
AND LOOK AT THIS BAKA COUPLE, I JUST WANT YOU TO STAY IN LOVE LIKE THIS FOREVERRRR!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also the way my heart gushed with happiness when Haruta compared Maki to a baby castella!!! Is it because both are so cute and sweet and fluffy?! XD Even Maki’s at loss for words for a couple of seconds lol!
Tumblr media
Make up your mind, Tanaka Kei Haruta! Is he a chihuahua or a baby castella?! XD (I read from Twitter that this line is actually an ad lib, I guess that’s why KentoMaki couldn’t react right away!)
AAAND SORRY BUT I’M STILL NOT CONVINCED THAT TAKEKAWA-SAN IS SUDDENLY IN LOVE WITH BUCHOU! AAAAAH!!!! That last Takakewa-Buchou scene in the drama was an adlib from Kotaro-san if I’m not mistaken, why did the writer and the director took it seriously I’m so mad lol!! I just can’t accept Masamune suddenly pining over buchou, after being Maki’s boyfriend AAAAAHHHH!!! XD
Tumblr media
Okay, I’ll continue some other time, I need more space for the next HaruMaki scenes! 😂

Péguy
Hi everybody! In this news feed I've told you a few times about a project I named Péguy. Well today I dedicate a complete article to it to present it to you in more detail but also to show you the new features I brought to it at the beginning of the winter. It's not the priority project (right now it's TGCM Comics) but I needed a little break during the holidays and coding vector graphics and 3D, it's a little bit addictive like playing Lego. x) Let's go then!
Péguy, what is it?
It is a procedural generator of patterns, graphic effects and other scenery elements to speed up the realization of my drawings for my comics. Basically, I enter a few parameters, click on a button, and my program generates a more or less regular pattern on its own. The first lines of code were written in 2018 and since then, this tool has been constantly being enriched and helping me to work faster on my comics. :D This project is coded with web languages and generates vector patterns in the format SVG. In the beginning it was just small scripts that had to be modified directly to change the parameters and run individually for each effect or pattern generated.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Not very user friendly, is it? :’D
This first version was used on episode 2 of Dragon Cat's Galaxia 1/2. During 2019 I thought it would be more practical to gather all these scripts and integrate them into a graphical user interface. Since then, I have enriched it with new features and improved its ergonomics to save more and more time. Here is a small sample of what can be produced with Péguy currently.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Graphic effects typical of manga and paving patterns in perspective or plated on a cylinder. All these features were used on Tarkhan and Gonakin. I plan to put this project online, but in order for it to be usable by others than me, I still need to fix a few ergonomy issues. For the moment, to recover the rendering, you still need to open the browser debugger to find and copy the HTML node that contains the SVG. In other words, if you don't know the HTML structure by heart, it's not practical. 8D
A 3D module!
The 2020 new feature is that I started to develop a 3D module. The idea, in the long run, is to be able to build my comics backgrounds, at least the architectural ones, a bit like a Lego game. The interface is really still under development, a lot of things are missing, but basically it's going to look like this.
Tumblr media
So there's no shortage of 3D modeling software, so why am I making one? What will make my project stand out from what already exists? First, navigation around the 3D workspace. In short, the movement of the camera. Well please excuse me, but in Blender, Maya, Sketchup and so on, to be able to frame according to your needs to get a rendering, it's just a pain in the ass! So I developed a more practical camera navigation system depending on whether you're modeling an object or placing it in a map. The idea is to take inspiration from the map editors in some video games (like Age of Empire). Secondly, I'm going to propose a small innovation. When you model an object in Blender or something else, it will always be frozen and if you use it several times in an environment, it will be strictly identical, which can be annoying for natural elements like trees for example. So I'm going to develop a kind of little "language" that will allow you to make an object customizable and incorporate random components. Thus, with a single definition for an object, we can obtain an infinite number of different instances, with random components for natural elements and variables such as the number of floors for a building. I had already developed a prototype of this system many years ago in Java. I'm going to retrieve it and adapt it to Javascript. And the last peculiarity will be in the proposed renderings. As this is about making comics (especially in black and white in my case), I'm developing a whole bunch of shaders to generate lines, screentones and other hatchings automatically with the possibility to use patterns generated in the existing vector module as textures! :D
Tumblr media Tumblr media
What are shaders?
Well, you see the principle of post-production in cinema... (Editing, sound effects, various corrections, special effects... all the finishing work after shooting). Well, shaders are about the same principle. They are programs executed just after the calculation of the 3D object as it should appear on the screen. They allow to apply patches, deformations, effects, filters... As long as you are not angry with mathematics, there is only limit to your imagination! :D When you enter a normal vector in a color variable it gives funny results.
Tumblr media
Yes! It's really with math that you can display all these things. :D Now when you hear a smart guy tell you that math is cold, it's the opposite of art or incompatible with art... it's dry toast, you'll know it's ignorance. :p Math is a tool just like the brush, it's all about knowing how to use it. :D In truth, science is a representation of reality in the same way as a painting. It is photorealistic in the extreme, but it is nevertheless a human construction used to describe nature. It remains an approximation of reality that continually escapes us and we try to fill in the margins of error over the centuries... Just like classical painting did. But by the way? Aren't there a bunch of great painters who were also scholars, mathematicians? Yes, there are! Look hard! The Renaissance is a good breeding ground. x) In short! Physics is a painting and mathematics is its brush. But in painting, we don't only do figurative, not only realism, we can give free rein to our inspiration to stylize our representation of the world or make it abstract. Well like any good brush, mathematics allows the same fantasy! All it takes is a little imagination for that. Hold, for example, the good old Spirograph from our childhood. We all had one! Well, these pretty patterns drawn with the bic are nothing else than... parametric equations that make the students of math sup/math spe suffer. 8D Even the famous celtic triskelion can be calculated from parametric equations. Well, I digress, I digress, but let's get back to our shaders. Since you can do whatever you want with it, I worked on typical manga effects. By combining the Dot Pattern Generator and the Hatch Generator but display them in white, I was able to simulate a scratch effect on screentones.
Tumblr media
In the traditional way it is an effect that is obtained by scraping the screentones with a cutter or similar tool.
Tumblr media
Péguy will therefore be able to calculate this effect alone on a 3D scene. :D I extended this effect with a pattern calculated in SVG. So it will be possible to use the patterns created in the vector module as textures for the 3D module! Here it is a pattern of dots distributed according to a Fibonacci spiral (I used a similar pattern in Tarkhan to make stone textures, very commonly used in manga).
Tumblr media
Bump mapping
So this is where things get really interesting. We stay in the shaders but we're going to give an extra dimension to our rendering. Basically, bump mapping consists in creating a bas-relief effect from a high map. And it gives this kind of result.
Tumblr media
The defined object is always a simple cylinder (with 2 radii). It is the shaders that apply the pixel shift and recalculate the lighting thanks to the high map that looks like this.
Tumblr media
This texture has also been calculated automatically in SVG. Thus we can dynamically set the number of bricks. Well, this bas-relief story is very nice, but here we have a relatively realistic lighting, and we would like it to look like a drawing. So by applying a threshold to have an area lit in white, a second threshold to have shadow areas in black, by applying the screentone pattern to the rest and by adding the hatching that simulates the scraped screentone, here is the result!
Tumblr media
It's like a manga from the 80's! :D I tested this rendering with other screentone patterns: Fibonnacci spiral dots, parallel lines or lines that follow the shape of the object.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now we know what Péguy can do. I think I can enrich this rendering a bit more with the shaders but the next time I work on this project the biggest part of the job will be to create what we call primitives, basic geometric objects. After that I can start assembling them. The concept of drawing while coding is so much fun that I'm starting to think about trying to make complete illustrations like this or making the backgrounds for some comic book projects only with Péguy just for the artistic process. Finding tricks to generate organic objects, especially plants should be fun too. That's all for today. Next time we'll talk about drawing! Have a nice week-end and see you soon! :D Suisei

Hey Ella! Sorry to bother you with a writing question again and maybe you already got this question, but as I'm currently writing myself, I wondered about how you organize yourself when you write. I imagine you have a vague or maybe even precise plot in mind but, how do you work? Do you start writing and inspiration hits as you type or do you write a piece of the story here and a piece there and then fill in the rest? 🤔
Greetings o/
So I have often been told I am a writing anomaly, because I legit will have like, one scene or one sentence I want to write, and then the plot kind of… creates itself around that |D I never plan anything out, I usually just write and as ideas hit me for things, I go back and edit scenes to make them fit in (if applicable).
I am a very fly-by-the-seat-of-my-pants writer. Even when I do plan out a plot, it never ends up following the plan, because my brain is very all over the place and SUPER disorganized so like, it ends up going everywhere at once. I also have a HORRIBLE memory, like, SOSOSOSOSO bad, you don’t understand. My one friend I used to RP with (back in the days where I used to RP) used to be like “dude, you’ve changed this person’s major four times in eight scenes” and I’d be like “I DON’T REMEMBER THESE THINGS!” so that also does not help on the whole ‘planning’ thing…
Basically my brain goes “Oh hey, this idea is neat!” and I go, “You know what? That is neat. We should do something about that.” -400k words later- “Oh… I just wanted cursed Derek pulling Magic Stiles out of the Jeep…” (Or alternatively Brain: “Haha, non-Vampire Derek sucking Stiles’ blood.” Me: “Hey, that sounds fun!” -81k later- Me: “Why are you like this?” Brain: “8D”)
So… yeah. I wish I could give you a real answer, but I can’t. My brain is messed up and weird, and it tells me what to do and I just do it to save my sanity \o/

Movie Meme
Took me a bit of time, but I was tagged by @bunnikkila to list my nine favorite movies, and since I can’t help but be ridiculously verbose about that very topic, you can see them all under the cut 8D
As for who I tag?  Well, as always with the caveat that you are free to ignore if you don’t wanna, I’ll go with: @elistodragonwings @kaikaku @donnys-boy @robotnik-mun @sally-mun @fini-mun @werewolf-t33th  @cviperfan and @wildwoodmage
and don’t worry, if you DO go for it, you don’t have to get as Extra as I did about it XD
9.)
Tumblr media
Look, the meme is about Favorite Movies, not necessarily the BEST Movies, OK?  And for the most part this list consists of films where that division is less meaningful in terms of how I evaluate the other movies on here.  But in this specific case, “Mystery Science Theater 3000: The Movie”, which is ultimately not all that different from the “Mystery Science Theater 3000″ TV show it spun off from and thus not particularly impressive as a work of Cinema Qua Cinema, makes the cut primarily because it’s a movie I know so well and have enjoyed so often that I can practically recite the whole thing to you by rote; I quote it all the time in my day-to-day life, I think about it often when I need a little smile, and it’s also become my favorite tool for introducing newcomers to MST3K as a whole since it was designed with a slightly broader audience in mind than the more willfully-eclectic series.  And given how much I love MST3K As A Whole, that’s an especially strong factor in its favor.
8.)
Tumblr media
Looky looky, @bunnikkila, we (unsurprisingly) have a pick in common!  I’m sure this is the one and only time THAT’S going to happen on this list. 8D
Y’know, nearly thirty years (and one fairly useless remake >_>) later, I think the thing that impresses me about “The Lion King” is just how much it is still able to grab me emotionally.  Some of that is unquestionably tied up with how strongly I associate this movie with my family, all of whom it became very special to as a Shared Experience.  But I also don’t know of a lot of people who haven’t had that same emotional experience with it, and that to me suggests there’s more going on here than just Nostalgia.  The mixture of Shakesperean plotting with Disney’s signature strength of Character, for one thing, granting the movie’s story an Epic Scope that never forgets the emotional inner lives of its cast.  The music for another, not only its instantly-iconic song-book but also its memorable score, armed with both Big Bombast and Gentle Sentiment.  And the unforgettably gorgeous animation, rendering every last element of its world with believable naturalism and strongly-defined personality.  All of it, together, makes for what I still personally consider the Crowning Achievement of the Disney Renaissance.
7.)
Tumblr media
I think, if I had to name the thing I find most lacking in far too many modern Action Movies, it’s Clarity.  They all tend to lard their plots up with a bunch of unnecessary contrivances and complications in hopes of making themselves appear more clever than they actually are, and all it usually does is just dilute the impact of the whole thing.  “Mad Max: Fury Road”, by contrast, is all about Clarity.  I could sum up literally its entire plot in a paragraph if I wanted, because it is basically One Big Chase Scene from start to finish, never really deviating from that structure for more than a few minutes at a time.  And that, combined with its exceptionally well-crafted Action Sequences, means that the full weight of its visceral power hits you full force every time.  But don’t be fooled; that simplicity is not to be mistaken for shallowness.  Indeed, precisely by getting out of its own way, knowing exactly what it wants to do and why, “Fury Road” also delivers a story that is, in spite of what you might guess, genuinely subtle and smart.  Every character is immediately unforgettable and compelling because their role in the story is so well-considered and their personalities all so stark.  The world it crafts feels at once fascinatingly surreal and yet All Too Real at the same time because even its most Fantastic elements are ultimately just grotesque reflections of things the audience knows only too well.  And most of all, it tells a story with real, meaningful Themes that are deeply woven into each of its individual elements, such that the whole thing is deeply satisfying emotionally, but also piercingly Relevant in all the best, most affecting ways.
6.)
Tumblr media
Oh look, another pick I have in common with @bunnikkila!  This must be the last one, right?
But yeah, this is just a legitimately great movie, at every level, in every way.  Stylistically, it is one of the most radically inventive things to have ever been made in the world of Western Animated Movies, gleefully mixing together a vast array of Aesthetics and Techniques that are at once viscerally distinct and yet coherently connected, all rendered with a fantastic eye toward the world of Comic Book Visual Language that keeps finding new and extremely fun ways to play with that instantly-recognizable iconography.  For that alone, I would call it one of the greatest triumphs of 21st century animation.  But then, on top of that, the story it tells is one that is simultaneously Arch and self-aware, delivering some of the most fantastically hilarious punch-lines imaginable more than a few of which are at the expense of the very franchise it is working within...but also entirely earnest, sincere, and emotionally affecting.  It is, at once, a movie that manages to be about The Idea Of Spider-Man in its totality while also being about just one kid coming to grips with who he is, what he can do, and what his life can be.  I don’t know that I can remember the last time a movie so immediately and unmistakably marked itself as an Enduring Masterpiece, but “Into the Spider-Verse” absolutely pulled it off.
5.)
Tumblr media
Ordinarily, I would cheat and give this slot to the “Lord of the Rings” trilogy in its totality.  But somehow, the fact that this is about “FAVORITE” movies instead of just what we think the BEST one is compels me to narrow it down to just one.  And if I had to pick just one, it would be the first of the three, “Fellowship of the Ring”.  It’s not necessarily anything that the other two movies get wrong, either.  All three of the LotR movies possess many of its keenest strengths, after all.  For a starter, there’s the keen understanding of how best to adapt the source material without being enslaved to it; capturing many of its most iconic moments while cleverly tweaking elements to make them more cinematic, knowing what scenes to focus on for the sake of more clearly focusing the emotional through-lines of the story, and knowing what scenes, no matter how good on the page, ultimately don’t fit to the shape the adaptation has taken.  There’s also its pitch-perfect casting, each and every actor doing a fantastic job of embodying the characters so well that even as your personal vision of them from the books may differ radically from what is on-screen, they nonetheless end up feeling Right for the part and a strong, compelling presence.  And there’s the deft visual hand of director Peter Jackson, who knows exactly how to craft a Middle Earth that feels at once lived-in and real but also Fantastic and magical.  “Fellowship”, for me at least, thus wins out mostly because it has the good luck of being adapted from the strongest of the three books, the point at which the narrative is at its most unified and thus has the strongest overall momentum.  But also because so few movies have so swept me away with the sense of stepping into a world I have always dreamed of in my mind’s eye, and that’s the sort of thing that can only happen at the beginning of a journey.
4.)
Tumblr media
Now here’s a movie that is literally sown in to my very being.  It’s the last movie my mother saw in theaters before becoming a Mom.  I grew up watching the “Real Ghostbusters” cartoon all the time and playing with the attendant toys; I had a “Ghostbusters” Birthday Party when I was, like, four years old.  It has been my annual Halloween Tradition to get myself a big Cheese Pizza and watch this movie for about as long as I’ve had disposable income to myself.  There is, quite literally, no point in my life where I don’t remember “Ghostbusters” being a fixture in it.  And as a nice bonus?  It is, legitimately, a Genuinely Great Movie.  I realize that isn’t quite as universally agreed upon these days as it was even a few years ago (thanks, Literally The Worst Kind Of Virulently Misogynist Assholes lD; ), but I still feel pretty confident in saying this one really is That Good.  I still find basically every one of its jokes hilarious; even now I could quote just about any one of them and get a laugh.  I still find its central premise, What If Exorcism Was A Blue-Collar Business, a brilliant, almost subversively clever one that takes The Supernatural out of the realm of The Unknowable and into a world where even you, an ordinary person off the street, can in fact fight back against it.  I still think it’s one of the all-time great examples of how to balance Tone in this sort of High Concept Genre Bender, by allowing The Story to be played relatively straight while allowing the comedy to flow naturally from the characters’ reactions to that story, allowing its Ghostly aspects to land as Genuinely Scary (or at least Worth Taking Seriously) without getting too Stern and Serious about it.  And I still listen to that unforgettable Title Song all the time!  So yeah, even if I could be more objective about it, “Ghostbusters” would almost certainly make this cut.
3.)
Tumblr media
And so we come to the third and last pick I have in common with @bunnikkila, not coincidentally a movie that played a key role in solidifying our friendship, as bonding over our shared love of it was a big part of how we got to know each other on deviantART waaaay back in the day <3
By 2008, I really didn’t think it was possible for a movie or comic or TV show to really become “part” of me anymore, the way things like Sonic the Hedgehog or Marvel Super Heroes or Some Other Movie Character Who Might Be At The Top Of This List had.  And then “WALL-E” came along and proved that to be completely, utterly wrong.  I didn’t just love this movie, I was inspired by it, to a degree of strength and consistency that I’m still not entirely sure has yet been matched.  And to be sure, some of that is undoubtedly because the movie had already basically won the war before I’d even bought my ticket; Adorable Robots In Love is something like My Platonic Storytelling Ideal, after all.  But even setting that aside, “WALL-E” is a movie where even now I can’t help but be keenly aware, and gently awed, at the beauty of its craft; indeed, watching this movie in a theater did a lot to make me better understand why movies work on us the way they do, because I left that theater chewing so much on every last one of its elements.  Its gorgeous animation, the way it conveys Character through Actions more so than language, the dream-like quality of its musical score (even as i type this i get teary thinking about certain motifs), the clear and meaningful way it builds its theme and story together so harmoniously, and the particular perspective it takes on our relationships with each other, with our environments, and with our own technology...all of it speaks to me deeply and profoundly, and it’s no coincidence that I have seen this movie more times in theaters than any other on this list (twelve times, for the record, and I still remember each and every time XD).
2.)
Tumblr media
This one needs no personal qualifications, to my mind.  Yes, I have some degree of nostalgic attachment to it for having seen it relatively young with my brothers and being deeply moved by it then, but it’s not at all like the kind of Nostalgia I have for “The Lion King”.  “Princess Mononoke” is just flat-out, full-stop a complete Masterpiece, not just my personal pick for one of the single-best animated films ever made, but one of the best films period.  It’s almost difficult for me to put into words how great this movie is, certainly in a way that hasn’t been repeated to death by thousands of other smarter people, because no one of its elements quite answers the question of why it is so great, to my mind.  Yes, the animation is absolutely gorgeous with a design sensibility that brings Ancient Mythology to life so vividly that its influence can still be felt today (The Forest Spirit alone has been homaged all over the place).  And yes, the music is hauntingly beautiful, at once capturing the gentle rhythm of nature but also the elegiac tone of Life Moving On.  And yes, the story is an incredible mixture of the Broad Mythic Strokes of an Ancient Legend grounded in all too human Emotions and Ideas about the balance of nature, the full meaning and cost of Warfare, and perhaps most important of all, about how we determine Right and Wrong when everyone involved in a conflict is fighting simply for the right to survive.  But all of those things add up together to something even greater than a simple sum, because each one isn’t just good in its own right but because each element so perfectly reinforces the other.  And even having said all that?  I really could just carry on singing this movie’s praises.  Just...an absolute masterpiece, top to bottom.
1.)
Tumblr media
I don’t imagine any of you are terribly surprised at this, right?  I almost feel like it’d be redundant to explain my love for this movie, given how self-obvious I imagine it is to basically everyone who knows me Literally At All.  But heck, I’ve rambled on this long, why not go all the way?  Because the thing of it is, “Gojira” (to be clear, the original Japanese movie from 1954 rather than its American edit, “Godzilla: King of the Monsters” from 1956) doesn’t just top the list by being a Great Movie.  Though to be clear, it really is.  Flawless?  No; there’s a reliance on puppetry that even for the time can be a bit chintzier than the movie can really afford, in particular.  But brilliant, even so, a heart-wrenching example of Science Fiction Storytelling As Allegory, one that, in a rarity not just for its own genre but indeed for many movies in general, very meaningfully lingers on its deepest, darkest implications.  Many a film critic has pointed it out, and it remains true: the stark black-and-white photography heightens the sense of Implacable Horror at the core of the story, and the way the central Melodrama, a tragic love triangle that carries with it many aspects of Class Conflict and Personal Desire VS. The Collective Good, ties back into the main story is truly beautiful in its elegance and emotional impact.  Still, for me personally, it tops the list, now and always, because it is a movie that affirmed something for me, that the character I had fallen in love with as a child convincing his family to watch a monster movie with him on television to prove his seven-year-old bravery, really was as genuinely as powerful and meaningful a figure as I had always imagined him to be.
