It’s not lost on me that these were both wlw pairings/relationships…and I’ve never gotten over Tara’s fate, just like I imagine I will never get over Josie’s…. Willow and Tara were ground-breaking, while Hope and Josie…were broken into the ground 😢

Legacies Finale

I guess the most frustrating thing about the Finale for me is that is so clear that the Landon Storyline was going to go somewhere, but now it just seems as if losing your empathy and humanity and feelings does not matter at all, because we got nothing. After 4x19 I was thinking that we might get Landon VS Hope in the Finale, but instead the choose to do an epilogue with nothing new (it’s neither the first time the school is about to be shut down, nor the first time that Alaric steps back as a headmaster) instead of doing an actual Finale.

The only thing that hit emotionally in this was the conclusion of the “Klaus finding Peace”-Storyline, which also gave Hope Peace, however everything else was just so underwhelming, even Caroline being back, because it’s not like that leads anywhere (plus now Josie is totally alone in Europe in boarding school, I guess?). And it’s not like she has proved at any point that she would be a better headmistress than Ric was headmaster, she spend four seasons not giving a shit about the school she founded or her own daughters, and now we are supposed to buy that she is the best fit for that job? I totally agree that Ric is probably not the best fit for that job, but the thing is that over the span of 4 Seasons they never presented us a character that would have been a better fit, so this storyline that swallows so much of this episode has nothing to it that makes it interesting or good.

And don’t get me started about that Josie Retcon, because sending a package does not make her not coming back and doing what she set out to be better, and dumping Finch like that is just a shitty move.

As for the rest: I mean, I know there were some Mizzie Shippers out there, but from what I gathered them getting together was not the main concerne of most of the fandom, which brings me to my main point, which is that thanks to The CW cancelling the show we again got a Series Finale, where the main heroine is doomed to eternal singledom, because appearantly having a boyfriend is anti-feminist, and while literally everyone else got to have their happy ending and a partner, the Wonder Woman of the Super Squad can’t have it all.

We are supposed to buy that she is happy now, but she isn’t, she has made peace with herself and her past, but she is not happy. She lost her surrogate father, said goodbye to the love of her life, who is likely to stop being able to lover her rather sooner than later, and had to watch all of her friend getting the person they love back from the dead (literally!), while her own boyfriend has to remain dead, so no, I am not buying that she is happy for a minute!

And if having a man in her life really would make her anti-feminist, they could at least have gone for the Hizzie- or Hosie-Endgame, but of course they did not, because like I said, they somehow got it into their brains that people wanted Mizzie to end up together and could not get a certain actress back for the Finale.

Maybe the only good thing that comes from the demise of The CW as a network for us actually is the fact that this attitude of “having a loving partner makes a feminist icone weak and we can’t have that!” will finally go away. And yes, I know for a fact, that this was not the ending they intended for Hope and that we propably would have gotten Handon-Endgame, if they would have gotten a notice ahead of time instead of beind canceled out of the blue, but that does not change the fact that this is the message that networks has given us in the last couple of years, and it’s appalling because male heroes get their happily ever after all that time on the same network, and what kind of message is that?
