thinking about all the little characters i met along the way in the bfucu (buzzfeed unsolved cinematic universe)... holly horsely, freerange grass, that mannequin, tumblr blogs i used to love, accounts i used to follow, reed of reeders fame, father thomas before we knew he sucked. i hope they are all doing well
actually stumbled upon an old insta post i never saw where they did end up meeting free range grass and i felt kinda emotional about it. like yes this was a show that fostered years of community and in jokes and a special sense of belonging all through the power of two doofuses who probably just asked each other one day on a lark if they believed in ghosts
they met freerangegrass??? irl??? that is so sweet I hope whoever they are they are doing well and rest peacefully knowing they brought joy to millions of viewers of a buzzfeed show
the cast of reoccurring “side characters” throughout is part of what makes the show so enjoyable to rewatch tbh. like oh yes this is the season featuring holly horsey, that’s the episode with reed, all the names of people who I’ve never met but I remember because they left a funny comment on a true crime episode. it’s quite fun to feel so connected to fellow fans, even watching the show years after it was uploaded. imo one of the many things watcher is good at is acknowledging and connecting with their audience which makes their shows feel less like “content” and more like a conversation <3

Hello lovely 💕 Could I get harry potter match?
So I'm female, bisexual, 172 cm/5'8, honey/dirty blond hair with white highlights on the front. My eyes are my fav part of my body, they're light blue that sometimes fall into grey but they have dark blue rims and I think it's beautiful.
Infp and ravenclaw. At first I'm rather quiet, I tend to keep my thoughts to myself, but I'm when I'm comfortable with someone I joke and laugh a lot (especially when dark humor or dirty jokes are involved). Like, with strangers I'm kind and respectful, and with my friends... the best description is wild. I'm also sensitive to nature's beauty, there's nothing more breathtaking than night sky and sunsets. When I want to be alone with my thoughts (what happens often) I love wandering through the forests.
Oh and I love wearing black and I also love piercings (ears and nose). Some would say my personality doesn't match my style in any way but it really does.
Big animal lover, especially horses and cats. I have three horseys, a cat, a doggo and two rats but my heart's biggest desire is a dragon (that's why how to train your dragon and game of thrones are my fav series). I also love fantasy books, I spend a lot of time reading but also writing, I even own an account here on Tumblr and write my fanfics. When it comes to sports then I'm an equestrian since about 11 years and few months ago I started learning sword fighting.
I'm studying to be an archeologist but deep down in my heart I feel like I'm going to end up as a tattoo artist or show my middle finger to the world and start a new life somewhere far from people on a ranch with a lot of horses and other animals.
Thank you so much, love. 🥰❤️
Hiyyya, I am so so so sorry it’s took me so long to get around to this like I took a break from match ups but now im feeling spontaneous so yay ig :)
Also I apologise for this probably being awful writing, I haven’t done anything in a hot second xx
Im definitely getting like Charlie Weasley vibes, at least in your personality. Like I can total see youse as a cute couple who are basically the same person in different bodies if you know what I mean.
So you become friends whilst in your sixth or seventh year, but he’s been admiring(?) you since like second year, Tonks 100% calling him a stalker every chance possible and him defending himself with his life.
By chance you end up bumping into him again after Hogwarts since you work with his older brother in Egypt (smart architecture stuff). He’s visiting Bill with the rest of the Weasley’s and Molly’s pestering him to go and say hi to you because you’re ‘such a beautiful young lady’ or something along those lines and eventually, with the twins literally dragging him over, he manages to stutter out a hi.
Somehow you manage to start dating (I haven’t thought everything out but feel free to fill in the blanks if you want) and you move over to Romania to help work with the dragons, you’re in a different department to him since you’re working on the architecture side of something, but he appears every break possible and is always there before you leave unless he’s at home cooking dinner for you.
It defiantly took him by shock when you got comfortable enough to start muttering dark or dirty jokes under your breath whenever you thought of something and it took you by surprise when he responded to it casually with something worse. If Molly could hear she would probably have a heart attack.
98% sure Charlie would let you practise tattooing him, but you had to make sure they where covered up whenever his family visited so, once again, Molly wouldn’t have a heart attack.
On the topic, he would be the worst person around when you need someone to convince you out of getting a pericing or tattoo, like there is no way he would have any voice of reason moment being like “maybe you shouldn’t get that done with the healing time clashing with something else” he would just be encouraging it and considering joining you.
Random addition which idk how to extend on : sitting out watching the sunset with a bunch of baby dragons <3

Horsey side of tumblr who grew up in the 2000s…
Why did we just gloss over the fact that The Saddle Club televised a horse GIVING BIRTH to their audience of eight year olds?
Like I remember telling my mum and her going crazy. Why did the execs think… hmm… this is appropriate television for children. I’m sure their parents will love us.

✨Introductory Post✨
Tumblr media
Hello, friends! I’m Fleetwood. I’m a dude from the US. (Unfortunate) I do horsey stuff irl mostly, but on the side I do a lot of artsy shit :)) I like to think I’m friendly, I try my best. I’ve never been super active on Tumblr but I decided I’m gonna try again on here lmao. It’s very easy to forget about a platform when you aren’t benefiting from it at all 😎
I don’t give a shit about petty discourse there’s more important things in the world. So petty discourse? Won’t be around here. Hopefully. I have a bad censor so who knows maybe I will accidentally say something offensive someday.
I’m really into the hippie and boho aesthetics- even though I don’t achieve them irl because I’m typically in equestrian gear. I also love cottagecore and anything nature related and cozy. All about that Peace and Love and pretty colours ✌️
Fandom wise? I think the only fandom I’m really into Jojo’s Bizzare Adventure. Used to be really into Mumford & Sons, but I don’t want to be in that fandom anymore lmao. I’m sorta into Homestuck. You can’t avoid that fandom. But other than that! I mostly focus on my own stories and characters
I hope to make some friends! So yeah. I do art and write, but that’ll be on my art blog @fleetwoodfoxart !
So, hello my homies 😎

To celebrate Taurgust, the celebration of all things '-taur', I present Jaime, the hafflinger centaur and horse trainer. I know a couple of you on Patreon have been excited about this for a while, so I hope it lives up to expectations! It's 7984 words and quite story-heavy, but there is some nsfw at the end. Expect a bit of horsey terminology too...
It'll go up on Tumblr tomorrow (3rd August) so that I don't get too behind with the Taurgust prompts. I know that's a shorter 'early release' period than I usually like to give my Patreon supporters, but I hope you'll forgive me!
Reader is gender neutral, and divorced (married young and foolishly…). They had a terrible accident while out on the horse one day, and have been searching for a trainer to help Peregrine get over whatever it is that’s still tormenting him…
Chunky Preview:
“I’m at my wit’s end, please…” you begged down the phone. “I’ve tried trainers from all over my part of the country. No one will look at him. I don’t know what else to do. They’re all telling me to put him down but I won’t give up on him.”
The trainer on the other end of the line took a deep, steadying breath, as though preparing to turn you down. In fact, you knew he was going to turn you down.
And so you interrupted him before he could deliver the news, just like all the others had. “Please, this horse has been through a lot. He means everything to me and… I can’t…” Choked with tears, you ground to a halt. “Please…”
“You really intend to load him up in a trailer and drive six hundred miles with him to Starfall? You think that’s what’s best for him?”
“Don’t you dare -!” you started hotly, but managed to contain yourself a second later. “I’m sorry. I just… I refuse to believe he’s unreachable.”
“I’m sorry. I just don’t think it’s practical. There must be someone in your area who -”
“Weren’t you listening?!” you cried. “No one wants to look at him. They say he’s too broken after the accident. The vet’s fixed him up physically, but there’s so much that he’s got going on in his head…”
“I'm sorry.”
Anger flared, hot and bitter, and you simply slammed the phone down. “Fuck!” you spat, kicking at the skirting boards in the hallway and leaving a big scuff mark on them.
The next morning you awoke with an oddly calm sense of resolve and rose well before dawn, backed the trailer up to the entrance of the barn, propped the doors of the barn against the sides of the trailer so that there was nowhere for Peregrine to go, and went to his stall. As usual, when he saw you, he reared and plunged, eyes rolling, his storm-grey coat already shivering.
“Easy,” you said, but you knew it would make no difference.
He was wild now. Ever since the accident which had nearly killed you and done a lot of damage to him nearly six months ago now, he had refused to be around you without going berserk. It was heartbreaking to see the once calm animal that you’d bought with the settlement from your divorce - as something to enjoy during your free time - become this crazed beast, lashing out, snorting, whinnying, screaming…
Undoing the bolt and standing well out of the way, you watched him charge up the barn at a fast trot, blowing and snorting. He shot into the trailer and you rammed the door shut behind him. He immediately kicked the closed ramp with both hind hooves, sending you reeling back, but mercifully not before you’d slammed the bolts across.
With tears in your eyes, you set off.
The total journey to Starfall Springs would probably take you about nine or ten hours, given the traffic. You stopped three times, once to take a long nap in the back of your four by four, your dog Pip curled up along your legs. You'd be coated in his black and white fur by the time he shifted, but it was worth it for the comfort and closeness. You didn’t get a whole lot of that from anywhere else these days.
Every time you stopped, Peregrine would start up his banging and stamping in the back, but eventually he would stop and fall quiet. Each time he did, the tears came afresh. “I’m sorry,” you murmured to him as you pressed your hand against the side of the trailer before getting back into the car and setting off for the last leg of the journey.
The lights of Starfall Springs came into view long after sunset, and with your eyes prickling and your back and legs stiff after driving for so long, you pulled off the main road, down a track which your Sat Nav told you would lead to Broadleaze Farm. If he turned you away now, you were just going to leave Peregrine here. You couldn’t inflict another journey like that on the poor animal.
As you jolted along the track, you heard a barking from the farmyard up ahead, and a light flicked on. It was nearing midnight, and you knew this was a crazy-stupid idea, but some part of you was whispering that it might just work.
The clop of hooves on concrete greeted you as you killed the engine at the farm gate and climbed out. Looking around, squinting through the pitch darkness, you caught sight of what you thought was a loose horse walking towards you, but as he stepped closer to the beam of your car’s headlights, you realised he was a centaur.
“Can I help you?” he asked, his voice a curiously wary tenor. You recognised it instantly from the phone.
“Jaime?” you asked.
“Yeah, that’s me. Do I know you?”
“Uh… I’m the one who phoned up about the problem horse…”
His hooves fell silent on the yard and he stopped. “Fuck me, you actually did it,” he breathed. “You actually dragged your horse all the way out here.”

BODY AND SOUL Part 34 EPILOGUE (Duncan Shepherd/Mackenzie Stone Millory AU)
BODY AND SOUL MASTERPOST
Author’s Note: Here we are at the end. I keep imagining myself four months ago, on the edge of all of this--a completely different self, one that was so deeply discontent with everything in her life, unable to confront it all. I wonder what I would have said if you told me that soon not only would I have written a book, I’d have broken up with my partner of almost 8 years, changed my diet utterly, and tested the limits of my endurance for a broken heart. WELL, SELF, HERE WE ARE, ON THE EDGE OF OBLIVION. I’ve charged through all of it, and now I’m floating in the ether, unsure of where my path is going to lead next. To say I’m terrified is an understatement; but mostly I’m just drifting inside all of this, trying to take it an hour at a time. BODY AND SOUL was, and is, and always will be, about the bond between two luminous souls that cannot be broken by anyone or anything--a bond that is capable of changing the fabric of time with its strength and endurance. Love is everything. Love is the gold that you see in dappled sunlight and in the coolness of the evening and the sunset that floats down a horizon; it’s in the touch of hands, the quiet moments of stillness when you’re alone (yes, it’s there too), the earnest eyes of another heart seeing into yours. In the end, the love we give will always determine the love we’re capable of receiving--and if we can both take the love we’re given and give of ourselves with abandon, we’ve found the secret to life. My sincerest thanks to anyone and everyone who has supported this journey for me here on Tumblr specifically, but especially to these luminous beings: @misslunarayne, who has now become one of my dearest friends and closest confidantes, @ladywriter94 who has been my CONSTANT cheerleader and has sent me so many asks to rekindle my drive when my brain felt empty and my candle burned low, @surprisebitchwrites who was a ray of light from the beginning (and who coined Duckenzie--for which I am forever in her debt), @hi-ilovedamien who has been so earnest and attentive and made so many wonderful Instagram edits, @kahhlo who seemed to overcome her shyness along the way (hey baby doll), @deanfinite and @goddess-of-inferno who also felt moved to make edits, and last but certainly not least, @nat-de-lioncourt, who made the edit for my masterpost (the first one anyone did for my story), and was one of BODY AND SOUL’s most vocal supporters from Day 1. Without you, this story could never have been what it became. I’m indebted to all of you. Here, words fail me. I’m just so grateful.
When it comes to the garden house, it’s an idea most of all--I avoided too many details, because the garden house is what YOU want it to be. It’s my dream, but it’s your dream too. It’s the dream that comes to life when you open your heart to love and beauty. This is Kenzie’s dress in the painting. I made my AO3 (I’m @witchqueenofdarkness there too). Look for Part 1 there this week along with the BODY AND SOUL Spotify playlist (coming soon) and a masterpost that includes every BODY AND SOUL edit anyone has made for me. I’ll be seeing you.
EPILOGUE
ONE YEAR AFTER THE WEDDING
Kenzie was elbow-deep in her tomato plants. They were bursting with ripe fruits; tomatoes so large and red and perfectly formed they seemed unreal. All of her vegetables were growing that way; this was the first yield since the garden’s initial planting, and she still couldn’t quite believe how utterly spring and then summer had burst upon the house. There were a million flowers; the dahlias and lilies she and Duncan had planted together in March were blooming in lush rows along the south side of the greenhouse, stretching along its frosted glass facade. Beyond that, the house itself was surrounded by lavender and hydrangeas, towering sunflowers, yarrow and catnip, all growing with lush abandon, dazzling her eyes with their color under the shade of her straw sunhat.
We suspected this might happen, but we could have never imagined just how beautiful it would be. In this place, the laws of nature are greater. Held in the palm of Her hand, things grow endlessly. The Fates weave their endless tapestry through time and space; She creates and destroys, always.
Kenzie turned her head as she heard soft neighing behind her, the steady, slow sound of horseshoes on earth. Crocus was coming up to the fence, tossing his head at her. Whatcha doing? The soft drift of his low, large energy drifted across the yard to her; his tail flicked lazy flies from his hindquarters, silky cream in the June sunshine. Kenzie couldn’t quite hear the horse’s thoughts, but sometimes she felt like she could get small little pieces of his mood, tiny drifts of strange horsey contemplations; happy, she felt from him. Content. Kenzie stood, wiping the dark earth from her hands on the pair of old cut-off denim shorts she wore. She approached the post-rail fence, craning to look beyond Crocus for a moment to the field behind him.
“Where’re they, huh, honey-sweet?” She murmured, reaching two fingers to his damp nose. Crocus tossed his head; the braids in his mane slapped on his long neck. Beats me. Chasing dragonflies. Eating tidbits.
Kenzie stuck a finger in her lips, against her tongue, and whistled out into the low breeze. “Ivy! Pepper!” She whistled again, sending drifts of golden thought out beyond the hill the fence stretched around. She paused for a moment, hand drifting up Crocus’ long snout, then smiled as she heard the telltale sound of galloping horses; their two dark shapes drifted around the hillside and she grinned.
“Pepp, Ivy, come on over here, come on, come see me,” she chanted, hitching herself through the fence’s slats and carefully over the enclosure. Pepper made it first; his dark-chocolate coat shone in the haze of the afternoon, blindingly smooth, his flanks rippling. Black-eyed susans were woven into the darkness of his mane; Kenzie had spent hours with him yesterday, braiding them through. My sweet dark Pepper, she thought, turning an arm up to him; he pressed his long forehead into her hand and she cooed up at him. Ivy was tossing her head, eager for attention; her black coat was like a dark, reflectant pool, luxuriously smooth. She had tiny daisies in her mane; one of Kenzie’s favorite things to do this summer had been spending hours on their manes in the morning, hours with their quiet, huge spirits, the strong scent of them, their wide eyes, the overwhelming aura of them. My sweet Crocus, Pepper, Ivy. My beauties. She rode Crocus most often; Ivy had gravitated to Duncan from the start, eager to be near him, though he’d take Pepper out with Kenzie sometimes, beyond the field and through the woods to the far northwest of the property. Kenzie could often feel the presence of the Goddess in them; they were ever sweet and mild to her, far more inclined to be ill-behaved and mischievous toward Duncan. But I’m their beloved, Kenzie knew. Even they know who I am; who I was once. My sweet ones.
She turned away from them as she heard the screen door to the side of the garden house creak open; River stood there in a tulip-sleeve white summer dress with lemons printed on it, a floppy sun hat covering her straight black hair.
“Kenz, I got somemore paperwork from the court ordinance, I just need you to sign it when you get a chance. And Frederick called--he heard of some Waterhouse painting coming up for auction and wondered if you and Duncan would be interested in it.”
“Thanks, River, I’ll come in in a second, is that okay? Did they say anything about how Mr. Carothers is doing?”
“They said something about him doing well with the program, almost being done with it, I think. That was all, really.”
“That’s good. Can you call Frederick back and make an appointment for us with him next week? It’s a good excuse to visit him. I’d love to see the peacock again, anyway.”
“Sure, Kenz. I made some yerba mate iced tea a little while ago, if you want some.”
“Oo, that sounds lovely. I’ll be in soon, Riv.” Just giving my babies some love, she thought, and knew River understood without her needing to say it aloud. She turned back to Crocus and heard River swing the door shut; long, languid ivy was growing along that side of the house, dipping down through its stony facade, and the sight of it lingered in her mind as she stared into Crocus’ damp eyes. Her thoughts drifted to the court appearance several months ago; the time the man--his name was Jeremy Carothers, and he’d spiraled into deep alcoholism when he’d been fired from Shepherd Unlimited several years back--had broken into the Post building and accosted her seemed like ages ago, another life; revisiting it in the court room had been surreal. But as soon as she’d gotten to the court house that day, Kenzie had known she wouldn’t be pressing any charges; in fact, it had become clear to her that she wanted to pay for the man’s mental health services entirely. There’s no room for animosity in my heart, she thought. I am far too blessed. The point was always to share it with others. Always. The work the Foundation had been able to accomplish over the past two years was so extraordinary and moving; every major city in the United States was now implementing a solar program, and green house gas emissions, through the Foundation’s initiatives and new laws passed by the President with the help of Shepherd Unlimited and newly elected progressive candidates to public offices, were plummeting.
The world was changing.
Because of our love, Kenzie thought. Because of everything we’ve been able to do. Together. Spreading it far and wide and making it grow. Grow over everything. Touch everything with golden light.
Kenzie kissed her fingertips then pressed them to Crocus’ cool nose. The sun had become oppressively hot; she stepped towards the stable, beckoning to the horses.
“Come on, beauties, let’s get in the shade, shall we?” Ivy and Pepper eagerly followed Crocus, who was always the leader; he lumbered up lazily beside Kenzie as she made her way through the cool enclosure of the vaulted stable, carefully pushing the gates closed on each of the horses in turn, their paddocks side by side; a golden gate for Crocus, blue for Ivy, red for Pepper. She gathered their grain bags from the storage on the side-wall, pouring a cup full into each, attaching them to the hooks on inside walls of the three stalls; her eyes roved over the horses as they ate, pressing a fingernail against her mouth.
Miss you, baby, she thought out into the ether. Can’t wait for you to come home. Kenzie felt out with her mind; let her goldness drift through the stable doors, out and down to the beaten path that led in two directions, one to the house’s front gate (white-washed and covered in Zinnias this time of year), the other to the side greenhouse, its frosted, slanting rooftop glittering with sun; the double doors were open and she could almost smell the scent of the ginseng and ginger that were growing wildly within, her towering bamboo plants and pachira aquatica. She pushed her thoughts beyond; far, far beyond, out of the sphere of the property, beyond the forest that surrounded them, down the long roads and the highway to the city, where Duncan was working today. Come home, she thought. Come home and hold me, my love.
For a moment, she felt the drifting column of his blue energy falling against her, despite all the distance. Soon, beloved. Soon, my angel. On my way to you.
Kenzie trailed her fingers along each of the horses’ foreheads for a few moments; then she stepped outside of the stables, along the path towards the house; for a moment she took a detour through the greenhouse’s blown glass doorway, skirting under the canopies of ivy and through the palms that were growing with abandon now in the summer heat. My own little jungle, she thought, and not for the first time. She went on, past the daylilies, petunias and marigolds, bursting with color--here the backdoor led out to a little courtyard between the greenhouse and the main house, a fountain with the forms of Hades and Persephone in the center; Hades and Persephone, but made to look like us, Kenzie thought, gazing over it for a long moment as she passed through. It was Duncan’s face encased in stone there; and hers, hair falling back, petals drifting through its stony waves. His hands drifted at her arms, their faces turned up to each other. This stony Duncan wore an aegis; an aegis that had been carved in the likeness Duncan had described to the sculptor who created it. In the image of the one I saw in my dreams, he’d told her. The one I had in that other place, in that other time.
Kenzie went on into the house, sighing with relief from the heat. Here in the back hallway, there was no sound but the cool drift of a grandfather clock; in its face were the moon, sun and stars, and the likenesses of three women, one young, one of middle age, and one ancient; between them drifted gossamer threads in shining gold and blue. The triple-faced goddess. Her. And Time, which she created after we’d found our love; after we were the first true Soulmates. And now, everlasting.
Kenzie looked up as she heard soft music begin to drift down from the office at the end of the hall; River had put something on while she was working.
I’ll be seeing you, in all the old familiar places....that this heart of mine embraces...all day through...
The light was beginning to fall lower over the hall and the oaken staircase above the clock; evening was coming, and that meant Duncan would be home soon. Kenzie’s eyes drifted up to the end of the hallway beside the door to the office; a huge painting hung there, one that still took her breath away every time she saw it. It’s us, she thought, smiling, tears gathering in the corners of her vision. In the painting of them, commissioned over a year ago after their wedding, Duncan stood with his hand nestled gently at her shoulder; he wore a long black coat that dipped down over his chest at an angle, his curls on his forehead, his blue eyes piercing out towards the onlooker. Kenzie sat in a gold, gilded chair, her expression calm and discerning; the artist, who was known for his comparisons to Sargent, had painted her eyes with an ethereal golden glow, her honey-chestnut hair around her shoulders. Her dress was blush and rosy; flowers drifted through its tulle folds around her feet and the floor. Her hand was lifted around Duncan’s fingers, and her moonstone and diamond wedding band glinted there, painted to a lifelike perfection. The Young Royals, the artist had named it; anyone who beheld it regarded it with a sense of awe, often staring at it for a long while, seeming to lose themselves in their eyes, its calming aura.
In that small cafe, the park across the way…
Kenzie was reminded of taking Duncan to Emissary that morning two years ago; the softness of him as he pulled her against him on her constellation coverlet. She thought of how he’d kissed her with such abandon in front of One Franklin Square; in front of a crowd, and she smiled, blushing at the memory. We didn’t care at all.
I’ll be seeing you, in every lovely summer’s day, in everything that’s light and gay, I’ll always think of you that way…
The oak circle, she thought, clutching her hands around her waist--overcome, suddenly, in the drift of memory. That first time at the beach house. The Gala. That night at Le Diplomate, when my heart felt about to burst, his lips on my cheek. The first time I saw The Youth of Bacchus, the first time I saw him, in the roses, on that balcony. And I felt Her; I felt the hand of Fate. Rosemary. The knowledge of our destiny, our past, our future, our task. And we’ve begun to accomplish everything. Despite that other world, or our other selves, or our other fates in those other places; in this world we’re together, and we’ve accomplished wonders, and we’ll do more wonders still. It’s the love between us that did that. It’s the love between us that will go on and spread over this whole world--it’s love that heals everything.
She heard his footsteps on the pathway outside before she saw him; sensed him, drifting stormy blue. The door behind her opened; she turned and fell into Duncan’s arms, the jasmine and cedar of him causing the tears to fall from her eyes now, her mouth leaning up into his.
“Hey, baby,” he whispered into her lips. Here I am. Home with you.
I’ll find you in the morning sun, and when the night is new
I’ll be looking at the moon, but I’ll be seeing you
The light continued to fade over the painting at the end of the hall; if Kenzie and Duncan had been paying attention to it, they would have noticed the glowing, ethereal quality of the eyes of their likenesses in it, the way the gold and blue of them seemed to shimmer and pulse as they often did in the evening; they would have noticed how ethereal, incomprehensible wings seemed to shimmer behind their likenesses, how their painted clothing seemed to shift into impossible geometries; but they were too mesmerized with each other, too wrapped up in each other’s arms; there was nothing in this moment but the two of them. As it ever was.
I’ll be looking at the moon, but I’ll be seeing you
Evening came on the garden house.

Fearless Warrior
A/N: My tumblr child @veroinnumera suggested writing some wlw fluff for SPN and a Charlie x Reader immediately came to mind, where they’re at a Ren Faire, she’s the queen and you’re one of her warriors.
                                                                -----
Tumblr media
The battle had been hard fought, but with superior numbers, elegant weaponry and the strength of your Queen on your side, the battle was won.
Lifting the helmet off your head, your matted down tresses hit your shoulders, knocking off the specks of dirt that had been blown in your direction during the fight. As you approached her tent, her Queensguard stood proud, blocking your entrance. “Must we do this every time! I am your Queen’s lover! Let me in.”
Reluctantly, they stepped back.
You took this as seriously as everyone else, but...come on. “Hello, My Queen,” you greeted, getting down on one knee and bowing your head in reverence. “Excellent leadership today, my love.”
“Thank you, Y/N.”
She grasped your gloved hand and ushered you from your kneeling position. “You’re bravery on the field did not go unnoticed by your Queen.” Her demeanor changed in an instant, her smile spreading across her rosy cheeks. “Cease the roleplay for a minute.”
You stood up and took her lips in a searing kiss. As a warrior to your Queen, you were out of line but she had ceased role-play so screw it. “Nothing like a good kiss after a hard fought battle,” she laughed.
“Good?”
“Good, what?”
“Good kiss. Just a good one?”
“Great. Spectacular. World-altering. As they always are with you.”
You smiled as you started undoing the gauntlets and armor and leather binding you. “Much better. Now, what does my Queen wish to do before her next show?”
“I thought I said no more roleplay?”
“You did, but on or off the field of battle, you are still my Queen.”
She claimed it was difficult to make her blush. She was full of shit. Blushy Charlie was everything to you and you endeavored to make her blush at least once a day. “Your Queen wishes to snuggle with her sexy warrior, eat turkey legs like the graceful beauties we are-”
“Meaning rip into them disgustingly?”
“Yes, exactly, and then go outside and pet my lovely little horsey because she’s beautiful and I love her.”
“This sounds like a solid plan,” you laughed. “Now should cuddle time be mostly naked?”
“Is that even a question?”
With a snort, you pulled off the rest of your armor, leaving you in just your bra and panties - not very medieval - but Charlie didn’t seem to mind this stray from the Renaissance brief. “Did you wear the red for me because you know much I love it with your hair?”
“Of course, plus I was kicking all types of ass in battle and feeling every inch the sexy bitch underneath. It’s the best of both worlds.”
“You’re not just a sexy bitch, you’re my sexy bitch. Now get over here.” Hopping into bed, Charlie pulled back the covers and gathered you close, before flipping the thick comforter over you both. “I love being the big spoon.”
“That’s just because you like cupping my boobs from behind.”
“Guilty.”
For nearly a hour, you snuggled up underneath your blanket and talked of former battles. Ren Faire was the best escape from the hell of hunting. After your eyes had been opened to the horrors, neither you nor Charlie could go back to the way things were, but it was no cakewalk.
With hunting, death was around every corner.
With Ren Faire, only turkey legs, fake weapons and your sexy, red-headed Queen lay before you. Pure escapism. “So about those turkey legs...”
“You always want food,” she laughed.
“I fought hard. As did you, My Queen. I say we both deserve a hearty feast.”
“Agreed, brave warrior.”
Shivering out of the cover of the blankets, she slipped on a robe and went out to a friend at the turkey leg tent to grab a couple for you to much on. You needed fuel for the next show after all.
Before she came back with delicious, meaty fuel, you managed to pry yourself from the bed and slip on one of her shirts. “God, I love how you look in my shirts.”
“I aim to please. Now, gimme turkey.”
She threw you a greasy turkey leg, laughing when it nearly hit you in the face. God, it smelled good. You ripped into it with your teeth, no attention paid to how you were eating. Charlie did the same, picking it off in chunks and shoving it into her mouth until it was all gone. “Mmm, I don’t know if I’m going to be able to move, no less put on the next show. The food baby is strong in this one.”
“Ready to get the horses ready for the next show?” You asked. It meant putting clothes on again, but there were worse ways to spend an autumn weekend. Charlie stretched happily and slipped on her Queen’s garb again, while you stepped into the first part of your suit.
Outside, the scent of freshly cut grass got overridden by the smell of horse crap. Good thing they were cute. Both you and Charlie grabbed a bag of food and went around feeding the six horses that performed with you all every day, stopping in front of the beautiful silver gray one named Meera. “Hey, sweet girl,” you whispered, getting sucked into the cuties big brown eyes. “You’re doing a great job today.”
“You buttering up my Meera?” Charlie asked.
“Only the best for my Queen’s horse. You think we should ride into battle together?”
“You wanna share my glory?”
“No, I just want to be with my Queen every step of the way.”
That blush tinged her cheeks again. “That sounds like something I can do for my fearless warrior.”

Conversations With The Commissioner: Crappy Monsters In Barber Shops, a.k.a. Nash's First Headcanon + Wine = The Image I’ll Never Be Able To Top
Tumblr media
@lipstickandwhiskey kindly thought to tag me when she saw a jovial post that reminded her of my disappointment in the lack of dinosaurs in the *alternate world and hoped to cheer me, but little did she know [mainly because I completely brain farted on posting this way-back-when] this had been addressed. In an objectively bizarre way. Admittedly.
FYI: Spit-take warning in effect, also cursing, should you choose to carry on
Preamble
* Dear SPN Writers' Room*: I'm not calling it The Bad Place, because I'm done with y'all ripping from other stuff, in this case, a beyond phenomenal show - hey! you do recognize carefully crafted season arcs when you see it! - even if y'all thought it was a homage, it's not since viewers of the show "The Good Place" already know about The Bad Place and it's not a physical nightmare, it's a psychological nightmare.
Pay. Attention. Stop ripping from well-known pop culture shit without (1) making sure the “homage” is used correctly, (2) double-checking that something similar hasn't been done before and, if so, (3) adding your own cheeky-sneaky spin. Not doing so makes you look, at best, like hacks, at worst, like doofy dipshits, particularly when it is from shows in your same genre - like a renowned show from the same fucking network that hadn't even ended their run but a year and a half prior to when yours started - and wrapping up *your* season with a title that was an iconic element from an iconic show [it was iconic, for several reasons, that's an essay for another time] which was the basis for everything from a/possibly *the* pivotal moment in the series and which was tied to many of the composer's pieces for the soundtrack, as it was a central thread. TV Tropes is your friend.
Tangentially related, while we're here:
Tumblr media
[Shep as Romo Lampkin]
I digress.
The Background
The Commissioner and I pop a cork, start talking about the Wayward pilot. We don't say a word about the scripting or the acting [because if we do, I go down a Dolly Deadeyes road, and nobody wants that]. Rather, we do a deep dive on the things that resemble other things and postulate how this came to be. Not in the minds of the peeps behind it, no, the dive comes via what the youths call a "headcanon". I've never had one before, I don't think, and I'm proud this is the first.
Oh, and a housekeeping side note: While my observations/the conversing began that night, the main convo/legit start on the image at the bottom happened later on. This has been run through the Nash snark filter for funsies, which is why the tone is the same for the whole conversation as, in truth, I have little clear memory of a lot of this, and the time taken for the assemblage of the image took longer than a conversation's worth, since the beginnings were sponsored by wine but it had to be done, it's how I combat insomnia and after seeing the monsters, I needed to purge my feelings of.... well....
Tumblr media
The Beginning
After a verbal review (an accosting-of, really) of both Well-Coiffed Predator in a Bane Mask and Dollar Store Doomsday from the Wayward pilot, we begin discussing theories on how exactly this came to be in the alt world. Everything below is based on (a) the fact that New!Kaia's outfit denotes the presence of some sort of killa shopping and/or a hella talented Matrix-obsessed seamstress in the alt-world, therefore why not additional styling like a salon, and (b) the fact that we were lit on wine.
And the Predator rip - who, in the concept art, does not appear rippy-offy, it should be noted - got that mask somehow. He's either homaging Bane all over his face [his own face, not the other-way-'round] or he's gotten hold of one of the real things, modded it a touch to account for the spread of his general mouth region. Seems their temp name is the generic supernatural/folklore catch-all that I was vaguely aware of - "Canid" - and that some dude who's apparently of import on the show hates it, and I concur because all I can think of when I see the name is Candida. The Commissioner asked for a reminder, and I explained what that infection was and that now upon learning the creature’s name, I looked upon it as a yeast infection made sentient. The copious amounts of viscous discharge helps that along.
This then got a general science light bulb to pop, and we again consulted the googles, and boo-yah:
Tumblr media
It's a dog. That. That up there, that I linked to. A daaaawwwwg.
Tumblr media
No, not a if-this-is-a-dog-then-what-does-the-owner-look-like, maybe-they're-just-disgruntled-puppy-mill-alums type of WTF. The WTF is because I, once again, am wondering if at any point people over yonder are bothering to check shit out with this cool new thing called google. I know. It's a novel suggestion.
Somebody sure as shit used said googlins for squid beak - it's a touch birdy beak, but nah, slimy squid goes better with the aesthetic - and I guess they had to, as they already gave the far superior on the creepy scale pacu teeth to the Dollar Store Doomsday.
Because we were sneery and feeling gross at this point, we needed something fun, so we refilled on wine, and decided to make a mash-up image of the “inspirations” [to be clear: The Commissioner decided I should make a mash-up]. We were also feeling gross after looking at all that above, so for an eye sorbet, we needed some pretty, and STAT. We both instantly knew what would do the trick.
We start the conversation with Bane.
The Conversation
[looking at still from that Batman movie Bane was in; neither of us have cared to clarify which of the Nolan B-mans it was, because we don't care]
The Commissioner: He is so smooth, like, everything, even the fit of the clothes.
Nash: I'll never forget his turn as young Picard in that shit 'Trek movie, what was it called?
[we do not look it up; digression discussion of the awesomeness that is Sir Patrick Stewart]
TC: What's in his hand? Is that a riding crop? Or a shuffleboard thing?
N: Yes, exactly, Bane took a break from beating up Batman to shuffle. Nooooo. He got drug away from riding his horsey----
TC: YOU MUST MEAN HIS STALLION - if he rides horses, they are buff
N: ---to bring the mask, and is he pissed about it?
TC: No. No, because he is a dollbaby - he loves dogs.
N: You're mixing Tom Hardy with Bane.
TC: NO.
N: [realizing] BECAUSE THAT IS A DOG THING, THAT CREATURE IS DOG
[digression googles to look at pics/vids of Tom Hardy with pups]
N: Oh, no, wait - can we make it a putter? Like he was on his way to golf?
TC: But he still doesn't mind, because he's good guy Bane? And golf sucks? Oh hell yes.
[putter image sought; we go back to staring at Hardy, sip wine for untold moments]
N: And Preddie's all - Oh Bane, no! I couldn't possibly! Aren't these custom made? But he's gripping the shit out of it, like, pry it from my hands, bitches.
TC: And he takes a sniff when nobody's looking and swoons. *SWOONS*
N: Freaked-out stylist saw, though, and a touch of pee slips out, because it was weird before, but now shit's kicked off.
TC: Oh, she's already wet her pants at least once, absolutely. Do we need to add her?
N: No, she's in the bathroom.
TC: But you know who we should add.
[Image of 1990s Leonardo Di Caprio is immediately sought; we love the R+J still too much for words and select it with zero pause]
N: But why?
TC: You know he's gonna end up bopping  around to other worlds anyhow, and for Bane to be here, there must be other rifts----
N: Low-Sugar Low-Fat Low-Calorie Eye of Saurons?
TC: ----so they're babysitting.
N: THIS MAKES SO MUCH SENSE [gulp of wine]  Hey, you know who should be his foster parents if he’s bopping around to all points?
TC: Is it some side-character who's off-show at the moment? So we can get the show back to, um, Sam and Dean?
N: Chuck and Amara.
TC: You remember they're brother and sister, right?
N: [side-eye] Okay.
TC: They are. It's canon.
N: OKAAAY.  [stares at Leo] Alright, what are we having him do? Satan's crotch goblin?
TC: [possibly disgusted with me] Pencils.
N: YES I KNOW WHAT TO DO they need to keep him busy so they just keep giving him piles of pencils to sharpen, and he's distressed because there's no more and the sharpener’s motor burnt out.
TC: [touch of a spit take]
[we stare at the collection of images; it is a bitch to find a clear shot of a Pred sitting, but we need him in a barber chair; I will ultimately cobble it from three separate images; it was worth every goddamn minute]
TC: Okay, now what about that thing? The thing? Deadpool?
N: No he was something else, that's Reynolds. Deadshot? Wait, hang on.
[we watch the Bob Ross Deadpool thing, maybe twice, I have no idea]
TC: What'd you say?
N: I dunno.
TC: Me neither I just remember thinking you were wrong.
N: [looks it up, or we'll be here all week] DOOMSDAY
TC: Stop, stop, stop - didn't we also say Lord of the Rings cave troll?
N: I can't remember if it was me or somebody else.
TC: Do cave troll.
[we search]
N: Holy shit. He's in the club.
[image chosen; best one is of him pointing; I later add the touch of a framed photo of King Kong that's inexplicably hanging in the barber shop, also next to it a photo of Captain Shitty Render]
N: But Doomsday.
TC: Do it.
[image chosen; this was also a bitch, I had to blur and cobble and blend and hide part of his bottom half because ZACK SNYDER LOVES SHOOTING EVERYTHING LIKE WE'RE IN A DANK CAVE]
N: They're so glad Bane pulls through, because Preddy won't shut the fuck up about him.
TC: It's because his last boyfriend was garbage, keeps hanging out with humans, and Bane's loyal, like he was to that chick from Inception, like----
N: LIKE DOG
[the bottle is empty; we are sleepy]
The Results
Tumblr media
I regret not adding an aquarium with a squid.
The Aftermath
Both TC and my Tumblr wife @butiaintgonnaloveem had reactions that can nicely tuck under the umbrella of [in concerned tone] Nash are you okay, like, is life beating you down somehow, this is crazypants which I appreciate from the latter, but as for the former I pointed out that they are my enabler/dealer/peer-pressurer in every bit of this.
There is no end to this post.

I saw The Last Jedi and I would like to complain
I mean, I have good things to say about it, too, but I'm in the first hour of walking out of the cinema and mostly I want to complain. There will be many spoilers. Apologies in advance if you read down too far before you internalise that.
SERIOUSLY, SPOILERS.
And complaints. Though not about the porg. The porg are puffins and puffins are the best birds on this planet, so clearly the porg are the best birds on their planet and one of the galactic top ten.
The first thing I wish to complain about is the fandom. I finally allowed myself to read a few of the Tweets and Tumblr posts going around when I got home and there is this whole 'Admiral Holdo is the worst!' versus 'No, she's great, but she should have told Poe what was happening…' thing and I am all, excuse me, have you not noticed they are in an emergency evacuation fleeing for their lives?
She doesn't tell everyone their plan because she needs them to just do their bit in the plan and for the rest of it they can shut it so she has time to think about the next steps. They are in a war. You might have fandom investment in character A or B, but characters A through Z are meant to be either fighting for their lives or attempting to wipe the others out. Every action should be in the light of that.
In light of this, I can come at Poe's mutiny, even though it's tactically daft, because he thinks he is doing the thing that will get them the best chance of survival. It's not so much a character conflict between him and Holdo as it is a mission conflict where they are both reaching for the same target. This is not a fandom battle to take a side in. They are on the same side. The script is a bit stupid about that, but not the characters, as the film makes clear.
Though whoever put Laura Dern in a costume that made her already swan-like neck look even longer is a lunatic.
In my second complaint: the physics is stupid. You can't drop a bomb in space. That's not how gravity works. And why did the bombers fall below the dreadnought as they were destroyed? THAT'S NOT HOW GRAVITY WORKS, EITHER!
But this pales into insignificance against the chase sequence. If the Rebel cruiser is burning fuel, it is accelerating. If it is ahead of the First Order fleet, then it is accelerating faster than them. They should have been well out of range at the time they started running out of fuel and had to end the film sitting there waiting for the First Order to find them.
(Can I take a minute to say that the whole getting off the ship and chasing a codebreaker Macguffin was not the best scripted idea, even though I loved the horsey things and I thought it was good when Rose reminded us the First Order and Empire were built on slavery. If they had room on the cruiser for everyone they should have just ploughed their least-useful ship into the First Order fleet at the start of the film. Also, there's no excuse for a lengthy chase sequence building tension this poorly after Battlestar Galactica's 33.)
A few things I thought were super to balance out the negativity: Admiral Holdo's last scene in the film might actually be my fave Star Wars moment of all time, and Luke Skywalker was terrific the whole way through. General Organa remains divine and I am very sorry I laughed when you flew like a Dalek, Carrie, forgive me.
Hux reaching for his gun and then 'Oh, this? No, just adjusting…' was superb and I am still laughing at that without guilt. Everybody wants to kill you, Kylo. Not because you are the heir to the Dark Side, but because you are really, really irritating.
I liked Rey's story, but I think they really missed a trick when she went into the pit to confront the Dark Side and saw row upon row of herself. If I'd written that scene, she would have acknowledged what Luke was trying to teach her: that we are the Dark, that it is within us, and that the Light Side in Star Wars world is nothing more than the choice to put others above ourselves.
But let's end with another complaint: Leia handing the baton to Poe at the end after he was 'sensible'. As Mr B put it: he chose to do the right thing at the wrong time. That whole battle was tactically stupid and the only thing that made sense was Finn's suicidal run down the mouth of the canon. Which Poe should either have done himself or let Finn do. I was pleased Rose didn't die because that would have been the stupidest thing of all if she'd died saving Finn from saving the entire Rebellion.
Finn was great here. Once again he made a principled and practical choice. If he'd died after his taste of freedom and having won a few battles, it would have hurt, badly, but it would have let you feel the weight of all that loss in a way that no batallions of shiny faced young strangers could. I had a brief moment of thinking they would recapture the stakes of Rogue One: I was wrong.
ETA: Just realised I sound as though I want Finn dead. Obviously I want Poe dead, Finn is splendid. And Mr B just called out to say the most intelligent entity in the whole film is the First Order BB8 and I can't argue with that.

Horsey side of Tumblr
From now on let’s only refer to our horses as our roommates, and completely freak out non-horsey people with tales of how our roommate enjoys scratching his head on the doorframe, is terrified of plastic bags, or how considerate and thoughtful our roommate is for shitting all in one big pile on the floor

horsey side of tumblr
i’m looking to get a new stall plate. Should I get a silver one? I would imagine they don’t get the same brass stains (that I can’t get out). I don’t really recall anyone who’s had them having a problem with discoloration. Is that true?
