Equestrians of the HTTYD fandom… do y’all ever really critique the dragon riders’ equitation and the style of horsemanship (dragonship????) that they use or just me?

Something about modern au Vasco says skateboarder to me. It’s only recently an Olympic sport but I can see him having a mildly successful career on the competitive circuit in his youth.
(Now entertaining myself with the thought of young new goth phase Machete lurking in the skatepark while Vasco tries to catch his attention with a sick ollie)

World's 1st horseback riders swept across Europe roughly 5,000 years ago
Tumblr media
Archaeologists accidentally discovered the world's earliest horseback riders while studying skeletons found beneath 5,000-year-old burial mounds in Europe and Asia, a new study finds.
The ancient riders were part of the so-called Yamnaya culture, groups of semi-nomadic people who swept across Europe and western Asia, bringing the precursor to the Indo-European language family with them. The findings strengthen the hypothesis that the horse played an integral part in the expansion of this group, and therefore, in the spread of the Indo-European language.
The new analysis came from 217 human skeletons from the Pontic-Caspian steppe, a geographical area that runs roughly from Bulgaria to Kazakhstan. For decades, researchers have debated when horses were domesticated. Read more.

not sure if dragon slayer is a good title when my knight here only has a flag, but horseback archery references are hard to translate into sgraffito at that size.
the smoke was done with a watered down underglaze, hopefully the streaks will add the right texture but who knows!

Hockey seems like a good choice for Anakin. He'd be one of those controversial figures. Like, he's a great player, future hall of famer, star of his team. He also lost his temper last game and boarded a player so hard and illegally the guy had to be stretchered out. He wears all the cause jerseys and took his kids to the Pride parade, but he had to be restrained from climbing over the bench during a game to punch the other team's coach. Voted least likely to use drugs and most likely to murder.
yessss ok no I know limited things about hockey but I know probably more about hockey than other sports cause I dated someone who really liked hockey for a bit
and anakin DOES lend himself to aggressive play in hockey in a way that is worrying but also makes him a great player. Full of contradictions. Will smash anyone who looks at him twice into the boards. Will also carefully and gently guide his kids around the ice during family skate with both hands out in case they fall
obi-wan has no idea what to make of him and also anakin is very out of his league - of sports, of understanding, and of dating
