Warnings: manipulation, rusalka!Toga, fem!Reader
Summary: on Halloween night, you and your friends venture to a lake near a quaint village, determined to debunk the rusalka legend as mere folklore. Little do you know, the eerie creature is far more real than you could ever imagine.
Word count: circa 2.3k
A/N: this story is my final offering in the collection by a talented @candycandy00 I hope you enjoy this brief horror tale
Tumblr media
The autumn night was heavy with an eerie stillness, a prelude to Halloween, the night she chose to haunt the living. Himiko Toga, the rusalka, lurked in the shadows of a murky lake. Her long, light hair draped over her waterlogged form, and her beautiful but otherworldly allure concealed a malevolent intent.
In a nearby village, the locals spoke of the legend of the rusalka, a vengeful water spirit who lured unsuspecting souls to their watery graves. Children dared one another to approach the lake after nightfall, and the bravest among them claimed to have heard a hauntingly beautiful, yet chilling melody that resonated from its depths.
Nestled within the heart of a dense, ancient forest, the village lay hidden from the bustling world. Surrounded by towering trees and a sea of vibrant green, it was a place of solitude and tranquility. The thick woods enveloped the village in a natural embrace, concealing its existence like a well-kept secret.
For the villagers, life here was a world unto itself, a haven of simplicity and the quiet rustling of leaves. It was a place where the daily rhythms of life were dictated by the seasons and the cycles of nature.
The journey through the dense woods was a challenge, and the village remained untouched by the hurried footsteps of those from the more populated areas. This isolation was both a blessing and a curse, preserving the village's unique way of life while also keeping it sheltered from the outside world.
On this particular Halloween night, a group of adventurous teenagers from one of the surrounding towns gathered by the lake, their laughter masking the fear that lingered in the back of their minds. Among them were you, a curious and bold young woman. You'd heard the legends but believed them to be mere stories to spook the timid. "I don't get what all the fuss is about," you said, you voice tinged with skepticism. "It's just a lake, and there's no such thing as a rusalka. Not to mention those people live like they would be stuck in some ancient times. That's sick!"
Your friends exchanged uneasy glances. "You're brave, Y/N, but be careful. Some say they've heard a song coming from the water," one of them warned. "I came across an old article while browsing Google," the guy mentioned, "and it mentioned something quite unsettling. It seems that a significant number of people, particularly young boys and girls, have mysteriously disappeared in this place."
You waved it off, unfazed. "I'll prove to you all that there's nothing to be afraid of."
"Come on, seriously?" one of your female friends laughed heartily. "You don't actually expect us to believe in all that internet nonsense, do you, Tom? Witches, rusalkas, and all those creepy tales are just meant to spook the kids, nothing more."
As you approached the edge of the lake, you felt a sudden chill in the air. The night grew darker, and the surface of the water seemed to ripple with a sinister presence. You shivered but continued to move closer. With unwavering determination, you set out to debunk the local legend of the rusalka that had been perpetuated by the villagers. You firmly believed that this eerie tale was nothing more than a concoction, a clever ruse to send shivers down the spines of curious tourists and entice them to leave their money in this quaint, remote place.
Just as you reached the water's edge, a hauntingly beautiful melody began to drift through the night, captivating your senses. The notes were hypnotic, pulling at the very core of your being.
Toga's ghostly figure emerged from the depths, her eyes fixed on you. "Come closer, my dear," she whispered, her voice like a siren's call. "I have something to show you," she sung, playing with her long, blonde hair. Her flowing hair cascaded like shimmering waterfalls. Her eyes, large and alluring, seemed to hold secrets of untold depths, their color an enigmatic shade of yellow, reminiscent of golden sunlit waters. Her complexion was porcelain fair. As a rusalka, she moved with an otherworldly grace, her every motion reminiscent of water's gentle caress.
"Holy shit! Do you see that?!" Tom's exclamation pierced the air, his eyes wide with astonishment.
The rest of your friends were quick to react, their expressions mirroring his shock. Startled whispers filled the air as they instinctively began to move away from the lake shore, creating a small, anxious cluster.
"Come on, let's go, Y/N!" one of your friends called out urgently, waving for you to join them.
"Retreat, guys! This is getting too weird!" another one urged as well.
But it was as though their voices had faded into the distance, a mere murmur in the background, as you continued to draw nearer and nearer to the mysterious entity emerging from the shadowy waters. Its silent beckoning seemed to compel you, a magnetic force pulling you closer with every step.
Your friends watched in horror as you stepped into the lake, your movements guided by the rusalka's eerie song. You waded deeper into the water, your face bearing a tranquil expression that sent shivers down their spines.
As Halloween night deepened, the legends of the rusalka proved all too real for you and your friends. Himiko Toga's vengeful spirit had claimed another soul, and her haunting melody echoed through the chilling darkness. Himiko led you further into the murky waters. As you moved deeper, the moonlight cast an eerie glow upon the lake's surface, creating an unsettling spectacle. The world above seemed to fade away as you became ensnared by the enchanting melody.
With each word, her allure seemed to grow, wrapping you in a cocoon of her seductive timbre. The world around you began to blur and fade into obscurity, as though her voice held the power to transport you to another realm. As she spoke, your attention shifted solely to her, her words becoming the only reality that mattered. Nothing else held significance; her voice was your anchor and your universe, a hypnotic cadence that pulled you deeper into its spell.
The rusalka's voice was both beautiful and melancholic. It whispered secrets of the underwater world, of long-forgotten loves and tragedies that had unfolded beneath the waves. Your thoughts and fears were replaced by a sense of tranquility, your will utterly dominated by the rusalka's spell.
Himiko leaned in, her yellowish eyes locked onto yours with an intensity that sent a shiver down your spine. Her voice was a sultry, almost hypnotic purr as she spoke, "You know, becoming one with me, it's going to be… exquisite. All I need is just a tiny, little taste of your blood."
You couldn't help but feel a mixture of curiosity and trepidation, "What do you mean?"
A sly grin curved her lips as she explained, "Well, it's quite simple, really, my sweet darling! Just a drop of your blood, a mere morsel of your essence, and we'll be forever connected. Our desires, our pleasures, they'll meld into a tantalizing dance of passion."
Your heart raced, the air suddenly charged with anticipation, as you asked, "And how does that work, exactly?"
She moved even closer, her breath warm against your skin, "Oh, darling, it's a secret spell only we can share. But trust me, it'll be the most electrifying connection you've ever experienced, hihi!"
Your thoughts were a whirlwind, but curiosity and a burgeoning desire overtook any hesitation, "I… I think I am…"
Unbeknownst to you, every word she spoke was a clever ploy to draw you deeper into the water. Her delicate fingers reached for yours, their touch gentle as they caressed your hand. With a subtle, sensuous motion, she brought one of your hands closer to her lips, her tongue lightly tracing your wrist. Her actions seemed as if she were trying to capture the scent of the life force coursing through your racing heart.
Back on the shore, your friends watched in helpless horror as their friend disappeared beneath the surface. The rusalka's haunting song lingered in the air, creating an unsettling atmosphere.
Meanwhile, your friends hurriedly left you by the lake, determined to seek assistance. As they sprinted towards the village and knocked on several doors, their desperation grew with each step.
Only one door creaked open, revealing an elderly woman. With a sense of urgency, your friends quickly explained the dire situation unfolding at the lake. Desperate to save their friend, your friends sought the guidance of an elderly villager, and it turned out she was known for her knowledge of folklore and the supernatural. She listened to their tale with a heavy heart and instructed them to bring a rare herb that was said to have the power to dispel enchantments. She offered them a piece of the dried herb and decided to help them face the rusalka.
With the herb in hand, the group returned to the lake, determined to break the rusalka's hold over you, even though they were scared you were already long gone. The night was eerily silent now, devoid of the haunting melody that had drawn her beneath the water.
The rusalka sensed their presence and confronted them, her beautiful but malevolent form shimmering in the moonlight. "You dare to challenge me?" she hissed, her voice filled with centuries of anger and sorrow. "You have no power here, weaklings."
Your friends held their ground, brandishing the herb. The elderly villager chanted incantations that carried the power to weaken the rusalka's spell.
Amid the chaotic scene, your friends gathered around the water's edge, their voices raised in a chorus of desperate screams. The rusalka, had a tight grip on you, your head submerged beneath the unforgiving surface already, leaving only your nose and forehead exposed.
"Let her go! Release her!" one of your female friends shouted, her voice filled with a mixture of fear and anger, the urgency in her pleas piercing the air.
But rusalka, with her eerie, yellowish eyes and an ethereal grip on your form, seemed indifferent to their protests. Her grip remained relentless, and her silent, haunting stare seemed to taunt your friends' futile efforts.
The tension in the air was palpable as your loved ones desperately tried to break the hold of this mysterious, otherworldly being, their voices echoing in a symphony of fear and determination, all while you struggled for breath, your life precariously balanced between the surface and the depths.
As the herb was cast into the water and the elderly woman chanted her incantations, a subtle magic began to weave its enchantment.
Slowly but surely, Himiko's form started to fade away. Her grip remained unyielding, as she continued to sing her haunting song, a desperate plea to retain her presence. Himiko began to emit an otherworldly, high-pitched squeal that reverberated through the still night. Her voice, though beautiful, had a chilling quality that sent shivers down their spines. It was an eerie, haunting sound that seemed to defy the very laws of reality.
As the piercing notes continued, those witnessing this spectral phenomenon felt a sense of unease. Her voice grew louder, more desperate, as if trying to break through the veil of existence. The air around her shimmered, and she began to slowly fade away, becoming transparent, like a wisp of mist in the moonlight.
With each passing moment, she vanished further, her voice a ghostly memory in the stillness of the night, leaving a haunting imprint on those who had the eerie privilege of witnessing her mysterious departure.
You gasped, your senses returning as the rusalka's hold over you waned. The villager's determined efforts had disrupted the enchantment, freeing you from the vengeful spirit's grasp.
With a final, mournful wail, the rusalka disappeared beneath the water, defeated but not entirely vanquished.
You were safe, but the chilling memory of the rusalka's haunting melody would linger, a reminder that some legends held truths that were best left undisturbed.
The lake would forever be a place of whispered fears and shrouded mysteries.
You, forever changed by your encounter, had a profound respect for the supernatural. You couldn't help but wonder if the rusalka had truly moved on or if she still lurked in the depths, awaiting another chance to ensnare an unwitting soul. You had to concede that there were phenomena that defied the boundaries of time and comprehension, veering into the realm of the supernatural, forever beyond human understanding.
At times, Toga would reappear in your dreams, a haunting presence that both captivated and unnerved you. Her voice, like a gentle, melodic whisper, would fill your slumbering mind. Those enormous, yellow eyes, seemingly capable of peering deep into your very soul, held your gaze, and her untamed, hair was fashioned into two haphazard buns. In your dreams, she would extend an invitation, beckoning you into her enigmatic world. The allure was undeniable, like a magnetic pull that drew you in. But just as you were about to step into the unknown, you'd jolt awake, drenched in a chilling sweat, the remnants of her presence lingering in the recesses of your consciousness.
Years passed, and the memory of that Halloween night at the lake haunted the villagers. The rusalka, though defeated, was never truly vanquished. Her presence lingered in the water, and the lake remained a place of eerie quiet, where the night held its breath as if waiting for the return of the vengeful spirit. And as the years passed, the rusalka's haunting melody became but a distant echo, a testament to the enduring power of legends and the strength of those who dared to face the unknown.

| PERFECT SACRIFICE |
TW: Sacrificing Ritual, Kidnapping & Death

Choosing the perfect dress for ones wedding should be one of the most precious and happiest moment in any brides life. From the fit of the dress down to the intricate details in ones veil, the moment in itself marks a milestone that many will and have never reached. To know that soon, you will be starting a new journey with someone whom you and themselves have deemed as their person should be one of celebration and excitement. Two consenting adults agreeing to spending the rest of their lives being by each others side. Who wouldn’t want such a privilege, right?
Well, what if I told you that for you it was a reality? That you’re beloved boyfriend whom you’ve grown to adore and respect has given you such a privilege? That you have finally found the missing piece to yourself and you have been searching and yearning for? You would be happy, right? You would gladly take on the world and accept everything that comes with being with him, right? You would scream and shout for joy repeating “yes” over and over again until your voice cracked, correct? Of course you would. Who wouldn’t? Who would pass up the opportunity to become someone who they loves wife and show excitement?
Well, it’s hard to show excitement when the bride is in a state where she can not move a single finger let alone make a facial expression. And it’s especially hard to scream for joy let alone scream in general when ones tongue has been cut out. Though, he doesn’t think you mind. You did say yes and you most definitely agreed at the alter to be with him till death do us part so there’s no backing out of this now. Even though you didn’t have a clue, he will think that You knew what were getting yourself into and that you practically BEGGED to be his perfect bride, his perfect SACRIFICE. With each swift motion of the needle, he hums a wedding hymn and smiles down at you. He looks up at the clock and smacks his lips together in disapproval.
“I took entirely too long to prepare you but how can I not? I mean look at you, you’re PERFECT” He says while sewing the last part of your lips together. “HE will be pleased and you will make such the perfect bride” he says while lacing another piece of thread through the needle. Even though you knew it was useless, you try to wiggle away from him but nothing moves. He just smiles and says “Now, we must hurry. We are late” He then slowly lower his hand towards your left eye. “HE hates waiting…”

An ordinary day becomes unsound in Reverberance, an ASMR-style horror short that I co-wrote and co-directed with TJ Frizzi.
The Horror Revolution hails the three-minute short as "creepy as f-ck," while Boston Hassle calls it "an ethereal, commendable little film accentuated by its innovative creature design."
Reverberance stars Sheri Lee and Brian Bouyea. It features award-winning special effects by Jordan Pacheco.
I'm excited for people to see — and hear — it. Watch it with headphones on and the volume up for maximum effect.

Yandere Baki Short Stories: Courtship
Yandere Pickle x Afab Reader
TW: creepy coworker and yandere behavior

Tumblr media Tumblr media
A sigh escaped (your name)’s lips as she meandered down the street towards her home. She hadn’t planned on being at work for so long, but her boss peer pressured her into staying past her shift… and now she paid the consequences.
She clutched her lunchbox to her thigh for more of a sense of security through the dimly lit streets. (Your name) just had to pass by this alleyway and she was in the clear…
A low groan drew her from her musings, her head snapped toward the dark alleyway. The hair on her arm stood straight up in pure fear. (Your name) was certain her heart just went still for a straight minute.
“H-hello?” She meekly asked the dark abyss of the alleyway. This was like something out of horror movie and she would be the first idiot to die… she should just walk away. Curiosity always killed the cat.
And then another pained whine came from the darkness… was it an injured animal of some kind? Her heart ached at the thought. Maybe she’d shine a light down the alleyway to see what made those pained noises.
(Your name) pulled her phone out of her pocket and activated the flashlight on it. She then shined the light down the alleyway, her eyes wide at the sight before her.
It wasn’t a dog that groaned in hunger but a man. A man covered in jagged scars sat curled up beside a dumpster. His large, tanned body curled up into a ball. His golden eyes filled with fear when he looked at her. Was he homeless?
(Your name) slowly made her way toward him, careful not to scare him even more than he already was. Her eyes softened at how he cowered when she neared him.
“It’s okay… I won’t hurt you.” (Your name) continued to tip toe towards the large man until she was only a few feet off him. He only trembled in response, his golden eyes studied her in anticipation. And that’s when a loud growl from his stomach reached her ears, a sympathetic smile on her face.
The young woman slowly reached into her lunchbox and handed him her uneaten sandwich. The man’s eyes widen in surprise before he hesitantly took the sandwich from her.
Now that she could see his face a bit better, she realized this man was bewitchingly beautiful. It was as if he was from another world.
The man hesitantly sniffed the sandwich before he gingerly took a bite. His eyes lit up at the taste of honeyed ham and swiss, his abnormally long tongue darted out to lick the sauce from between the sandwich.
(Your name) could only stare in wonder at the odd man. Was this the first sandwich he’s ever had? He was taking apart each layer of the sandwich rather than eating it all together. Despite how bizarre this was, it was also kind of endearing.
(Your name) quickly handed him the fresh fruit and vegetables to try to put something else in his bottomless pit of a stomach. How long had he been hungry? She felt horrible for him…
(Your name) watched the man scarf down his food like a starving animal. His body language no longer showed fear, an expression of relaxation on his face. She wondered if he may be mentally impaired.
(Your name) sat with him for a bit, his putrid scent was a bit much for her to handle, but he seemed so lonely.. how could she not feel bad for him?
The man turned his completely attention to her. His head tilted to the side while he studied her pretty face. His golden eyes and mannerisms reminded her of an owl.
(Your name) sat with the man for a few more minutes until she decided to leave. It was getting late…
“Good bye, mister. Take care, okay?” (Your name) smiled brightly at the man, the man tilted his head off to the side. Poor guy… she hoped he stayed safe.
The man’s golden eyes watched the young woman leave. Pickle purred, his golden eyes studied her small form.
The primitive man slowly trailed behind her, the giant careful not to alert her of his presence. Pickle didn’t want to scare his future mate!
He wondered if he should start courting her since she had courted him… maybe some fruits would do? She seemed to like fruits!
Poor (your name) had not a single clue in the world of the trouble that was about to brew in her life.
.
.
.
Small rodent and avian carcasses were left on her step. It was a bit difficult to differentiate what they once were since their bodies were so mangled, but she was able to piece together what they were due to the feathers, blood, and fur that was mixed all over her doormat.
This was all so incredibly strange... Were these left behind by the local cat? Was it a token of appreciation for feeding it? (Your name) had not a clue on who or what could’ve left this on her step. She didn’t think a cat was capable of such brutality, but it was hard to imagine another human, leaving this too…
(Your name) grimaced when she picked some of the remnants of the small animal carcasses, a few guys spilled out when she did so. This was so gross.
The young woman scrunched up her face and distaste. she then began to clean up the mess and discard the carcasses into her trashcan. She would probably have to bleach her whole front step to get the putrid odor of death away after work…
“Meow!”
An orange tabby cat mewled at her. Its little orange body brushed against her in a soothing manner. She smiled a bit at the fluffy feline before she bent down to run her fingers through its small head.
“Hello, tiger. I haven’t seen you in a bit.” The cat simply purred in response, its tail rubbed against her legs to scent her. (Your name) indulged the cat a bit until she knew she had to leave for work. “Sorry but I have to go to work. I’ll see you later!”
(Your name) gathered up her belongings and hurried down the street to walk to work. The orange tabby sat on her step, it’s tail ticked back and for like a clock. It’s small pink nose sniffed the few remains she didn’t scoop up in interest. The cat then began to lick up the bloody remains.
Pickle whined from his spot in the forest. She didn’t like his gift… was it not to her liking?
Pickle snarled, his bloody canines flashed under the light as he watched the cat lick up the remnants of his gift. That wasn’t for that animal… it was for his mate. Perhaps she would like something bigger?
Pickle observed the local cat that (your name) doted on. He’d start with that creature that hogged her attention… then he’d set his sights to bigger game.
Pickle stalked forward toward his prey, but the cat tilted its head at him. The tiny animal sauntered over to him and brushed its head against his leg.
It dumbfounded Pickle. The Neanderthal scooped up the small house cat and stared at it. The cat’s purrs never ceased as it maintained eye contact with him.
The two creatures blinked at each other until the cat leaned forward and licked Pickle’s nose. Pickle furrowed his brow at the rough feeling but didn’t entirely reject the gesture.
Pickle changed his mind. He was fond of this tiny creature that purred like him. Pickle sat on the grass with the cat now in his lap. The cat rubbed its head over his palms to pet it.
Pickle would find something else to hunt… something much larger. He didn’t think (your name) would like if he harmed her companion.
.
.
.
“So I was wondering if you’d let me take you out on a date yet, (your name)?” (Your name) sighed and glanced up from her computer at her manager, Kenji. He was a nice looking man but (your name) had no interest in dating anyone at the moment. She was quite happy just caring for the local cat and tending to her indoor plants.
“Sorry, Kenji. I don’t have any interest in dating.” (Your name) bowed her head a bit to Kenji. “Thank you for the offer-“
Kenji sighed, the young man leaned his beefy forearms onto her cubicle wall. His dark eyes narrowed a bit before he muttered, “you’re going to end up alone. You’re still young and pretty. Don’t you think you should give this a chance? You might not get another.”
(Your name) furrowed her brow at Kenji in confusion. What on earth did he mean by that?
As if Kenji could read her mind, he chuckled. “Everyone thinks you’re a bit odd, (your name). You daydream an awful lot and you feed the cats. The other workers all think you’re going to end up being a cat lady.”
(Your name) frowned and turned her attention back to her computer, which made Kenji click his tongue. The brunette then went on his way.
Kenji swore he’d get her attention soon… he’s liked her for awhile now. And he’d do anything for her to notice him… anything.
Kenji smirked. Thank goodness she lived in isolation, it’d be easier to corner her since no one would hear her screams….
.
.
.
(Your name) made her way home, unaware of a presence following behind her. The young woman walked down the dimly lit streets toward her house with no awareness of her surroundings.
Pickle scuttled around in the shadows. His eyes narrowed at the man that followed (your name). His nose sniffed the air, his head cocked to the side in confusion. Was this a challenger?
Pickle quietly stalked forward behind the man. The man too focused on following (your name) to notice the Neanderthal behind him.
(Your name) eventually made it onto hee quiet street. The young woman hummed a cheery tune, unaware of the Kenji who was just a few feet behind her.
The man made a move to grab her but he was soon pulled into a giant, muscular chest. The man almost screened but a large hand was shoved over his mouth.
Kenji slowly looked up, his dark eyes wide in horror at what held him like a snake. This was the caveman from the news…
Pickle tilted his head in curiosity. What was this small man planning to do with his mate? Pickle may not have been from the modern world but he was familiar with the laws of nature. And this man didn’t have good intentions for his mate…
Pickle bared his fangs at the man, his golden eyes glowed like a burning fire under the street lights. Pickle was terrifying… and his sudden appearance may have caused Kenji to urinate himself a bit.
Pickle turned his head to glance at (your name) who made it safely to her house, far enough out of ear shot now to what was about to happen.
Kenji tried to swing his fist up to punch Pickle but Pickle simply snapped his head off to the side. Pickle cooed a bit at the dead body now in his arms.
This was his competition? How disappointing…
Pickle carried Kenji toward the sewers. The caveman threw his body into the manhole before he jumped in after.
Perhaps he’d leave more gifts for (your name) later? He wondered if she’d like a pelt… he could show off his nest skills to her! She’d be so thrilled to se show hood of a provider he was!
But first he’d take care of this body. Pickle was feeling a bit peckish after all…
.
.
.
(Your name) hummed as she watered her various tropical plants in her home. The inside of her house felt much like a tropical rainforest for the various rare plants in her home.
(Your name) owned various orchids, a few vibrant flamingo flowers, and some lovely begonias. But her favorite was her monstera. She babied that plant the most. The young woman considered at her most prized possession since it was her largest plant.
She felt so at peace taking care of these plants. Her plants are better company than most people. She found it hard to be around other human beings, since they were always so conniving. She knew that at least plants would never betray her or try to harm her.
(Your name) hummed as she continued to tend to her plants. Unaware of Pickle who sat perched on a tree branch outside her window. The Neanderthal has recently found a way in through her bedroom but he preferred to wait until she wasn’t home.
It was much easier for him to find places where they could store young and to scent the outer perimeter of her house when she wasn’t around. Pickle made sure to keep her home extra safe.
The various plant life was a plus to him. It made him feel like he was at home himself… he was so flattered that his mate was so understanding of him.
Pickle would be sure to be wonderful to her once she accepted the last part of his courtship.
.
.
.
A few days have gone by and Kenji was no longer at work. (Your name) and her coworkers thought it was very strange. He never missed work.
A few had tried to call him, and one coworker even went to his house, but there was no reply. It puzzled them all. Where could he have gone?
Kenji was a bachelor so he didn’t have any roommates or a girlfriend. And no one in the office really knew his family either… it was a shame.
(Your name) felt bad about being relieved from his absence. She no longer was harassed on a day-to-day basis for a date. A part of her feel guilty, but the other part not so much.
(Your name) continue to type away on her computer, unaware of the caveman that sat on the rooftop of the building across the street from her. His golden eyes studied her as she worked diligently on her assignment.
Pickle placed his chin in his palms, the caveman purred. His mate was so cute… she seemed much happier now that the weird man was gone.
Pickle glanced down at the fresh bear pelt beside him. He would leave this for her at we home today and then he would start to bring her many more until she accepted him.
Spring time was coming soon and pickle was determined to mate.
.
.
.
A few weeks have gone by since the disappearance of Kenji now. It was spring now… and he was still missing.
Missing posters of Kenji were now set all over the city. There was absolutely no trace of him anywhere. (Your name) felt as if he was a ghost, because he disappeared into thin air.
The police broke into his apartment to find a body, but nothing was found other than old food and all of his belongings. There was talk that he might have been murdered or kidnapped. But who on this green earth would want Kenji of all people?
This matter didn’t help the young women feel any safer in his community anymore. In the last few weeks she felt as if there was always a pair of eyes that were on her. No matter where she went or where she was, she felt like she was being studied like a lab specimen. It made her skin crawl sometimes.
(Your name) clutched her lunch box close to herself and bit her lip. She didn’t feel safe anywhere she went. Her home no longer felt safe. She swore some of her belongings were missing and it drove her insane.
(Your name) had only a handful of panties left now… which was odd since she had just bought some new ones recently. She even took apart her washer to examine if they were lost in one of the crevices but to no avail…
But who would steal her undergarments? Kenji was no longer in the picture so it couldn’t be him… and he was the only man who was interested in her… she should stop thinking about this.
(Your name) wished she could shrug it off but she couldn’t. Especially with the various animal pelts left on her door step.
Who was bringing her bear and deer pelts? She couldn’t bring herself to throw them away but she has just been shoving them into her garage. She didn’t know what else to do with them… she would feel bad if she threw away someone’s hard work.
(Your name) sat on her door step with her orange tabby, Tiger. The cat purred while she pet him. Lately she had noticed that the cat had put on a few extra pounds… has someone else been feeding him?
(Your name) patted Tiger’s little tummy in wonder. She didn’t have any neighbors around so it was strange that the cat had gained some extra cushion…
And that’s when a rustling in the bushes drew her attention. (Your name) snapped her head towards the bush, a giant man stepped forward. His golden eyes transfixed on her. It was the homeless guy she met months ago…
(Your name) glanced at the pelt in his arms in shock. Was he her stalker?!
Pickle gave her a toothy grin. The Neanderthal set the pelt in front of her before he began to dance. (Your name) could only sit still in shock while Pickle continued to dance before her.
Then it all clicked. Pickle was not a homeless man. He was the Neanderthal from the news a few months back… and he wasn’t stalking her. Pickle was courting her.
(Your name) froze when Pickle paused his dance, the Neanderthal cooed softly at her. His long fingers tilted her chin up to look at him.
And that’s when he licked her nose just like a cat. His eyes filled with wonder.
(Your name) remained frozen, even when he scooped her up into his arms to carry her into her garage where the various pelts lied.
Pickle finally had her… he finally had his cute little mate.

Halfway through the gullet [Reem/Such Happy Campers Horror short]
Tumblr media
TW: this plays on emetophobia and has an animal dying/getting injured in it. Not overly gruesome, just in an... absurd, grotesque way. It's body horror-ish. Be warned.
Reem sings softly to herself as she steps out of the shower. She dries off, then wraps the same towel around her body. It's still warm from being draped over the heater. Reem walks up to stand in front of the big, square mirror above the sink. Her face looks good, she thinks. Bit tired around the eyes, maybe, but that's okay. The dark circles will be gone after a good night's rest. Reem interrupts her singing to brush her teeth, but starts up again the moment she has spat the foamy mix of saliva and toothpaste into the sink. Then suddenly, she feels a tug.
Like a fist closing around her windpipe and giving it a single, swift pull before releasing it again.
She gags and puts a hand through her throat. The odd, severely unpleasant sensation has disappeared as quickly as it had manifested. She takes several deep, cleansing breaths and runs some scales. Her voice is unchanged. Shaking her head, she rinses off her toothbrush and makes her way into the bedroom. There, she discards the towel in favor of a baggy t-shirt that's several sizes too big for her. It actually belongs to her brother— she borrowed it once and never returned it. It's too good of a pajama top to give up. Just as she is about to crawl beneath her covers, she feels the tug again. Stronger this time, much stronger. She gags again, almost heaves, and it is as though something is fighting, clawing its way up her throat, leaving her gasping for air in desperation.
Reem runs into the bathroom, the soles of her naked feet slapping on the linoleum. She yanks open the faucet and shoves her head under the cold stream, gulping down as much water as the uncomfortable position allows her. The pull lets up, but Reem's pulse is still racing as she looks at herself in the mirror. She has no idea what just happened. Should she go to the hospital? She's not in any pain, not anymore. Should she call Flo? No, it's half past eleven, he's bound to be asleep already. Maybe this is nothing to be alarmed about. Maybe she's eaten something rotten. She doesn't feel it in her stomach, only her throat, but what does she know? Yes, she's probably eaten something rotten, that has to be it. Perhaps she'll vomit it up sometime tonight. Reem decides to put the wastebin next to her bed in wise foresight. She wraps herself into her blanket and rests her head on the pillow. Her heart isn't racing anymore. Her eyes are heavy, her breathing steady and slow. She's fine.
She dreams that she's blowing down the severed neck of a goose, producing a squawking noise as she sends air flowing through the dead animal's windpipe. Reem startles awake. There's that pull again, deep down in her throat. She starts to alternately gag and cough, groping at her neck as though trying to unravel the invisible noose closing around it.
Suddenly, her mouth fills with something, a soft but dense material forcing its way up from within her chest. It clogs her gullet and Reem opens her mouth wide, wider than she thought possible, so wide her jaw hurts.Something sticks its head out from between her tearing lips. A beaked head. It lets out a pitiful squawk, sounding almost as panicked as Reem. In blind terror, she grips the thing’s neck and begins to pull. Her throat feels as though it might tear in two as the feathered round body of a fat goose moves through it, stretching her gullet to an inhuman extent. At long last, the bird is yanked free. Reem stares at it in bewildered, incredulous horror. Her whole chest is burning and there's a taste in her mouth as though her saliva has turned into acid. The goose is running around in aimless, panicked circles, its webbed claws scratching up the floor.
Reem begins to laugh. Loudly. Uncontrollably, almost. The goose's head falls off, but it keeps running, spurting blood everywhere.Reem wakes up with a gasp.
No goose. No blood. Thank fuck.
She's in her cabin, Anita's sleeping form resting in the bed across from her own. The other woman's steady breathing, the rise-fall, rise-fall of her chest is a welcome sight. There's a pounding headache building behind Reem's forehead. She decides she needs some fresh air. Has she had this nightmare before, she wonders?

A queer neo giallo about a woman named Elena who descends into a surreal nightmare after witnessing a brutal murder.
“Violence is experienced by the transgender community every day, and they are constantly being silenced. I wanted to give something back to the community that has a haunting resonance.” - Joshua Matteo, director. (joshua matteo has graciously provided this link to the film)
