10. “….Should I be concerned?” + sunaosa [466 words]

Suna scrapes the bottom of the skillet with his overworked sponge. His brain feels kind of fuzzy and his eyelids are heavy, but he’s got of lot of stuff left to do. He makes eye contact with the sorry excuse for a sunny side up egg on the dining table; it, too, has become scrambled somewhere along the way. Suna's never felt so betrayed.

The stains are a stubborn son of a bitch, and Osamu only has so many skillets in his apartment. Suna isn’t usually a fan of limited variety and choices, but it’s working out for him today. Any more, and the clean up might be worse than the time Atsumu conned him into helping Osamu after Onigiri Miya’s grand opening.

He soaps up this one spot in particular for the fourth time: longing to put it in the drying rack; to move onto the next two; to be granted salvation for all the selfless suffering he’s putting himself through.

“…Should I be concerned?” Osamu’s sleep-ridden voice asks from the kitchen entrance, scaring the ever loving fuck out of him. Suna swerves around, immediately sliding his legs apart, trying to block the crime scene with his body. His heart is running a marathon and his earlier drowsiness is completely gone.

Suna doesn’t pray often, and he’s quickly coming to the conclusion that God has a vindictive sense of humour-

“NO!” Shit shit shit, he threw subtlety out the window. Oh fuck it. “Nope, nothing going on here.” Scrambling for something else to say, he tries to deflect. “What’re you doing here?”

“Gettin’ a glass of water.” Osamu squints at him in suspicion. He doesn’t say anything, but his silence does the heavy lifting for him. Breaking the silence, he offers, “Do ya want a hand with, er, whatever you’ve got going on?”

Osamu might be the love of his life but right now Suna needs him the hell out of it. His cheeks are on fire and it’s not from the normal gooey feelings Osamu makes him feel.

“I got it, you go back to sleep,” he licks his lips. Taking large steps, he quickly turns Osamu around and shoos him back to their room. The asshole goes along with it, but not without his shoulders betraying his amusement. Suna firmly ignores it for the sake of his pride.

Trusting Osamu to walk the rest of the way by himself, Suna darts back in and out of the kitchen. He shoves the glass of water into Osamu’s hands, pushing him into their room, and slams the door shut for him.

Suna rests his back against their door for a moment. He was so caught. Suna chances a peek at their kitchen from where he is. Fuck.

Maybe he’ll order takeout for Osamu’s breakfast instead.
