Addition to a previous TFA megaop post
I neglected to address that many megaop shippers, in addition to butchering Megatrons characterization, also did the same for optimus.
Bro is so heavily damselfied in this ship it's not even funny. He goes from being a humble, and decisive leader who is haunted by his past
To fuckin
UwU-soft-helpless-daddy issues- everyone hates me-and I need a big strong "Marxist" "miner" man to fuck the sad out of me pwease
Like um, was thou indulging in thy devils walter white crumbs whilst thou wast watching thee show??
TFA Optimus is for the most part: levelheaded, though a bit doubtful of himself and his ability to properly lead. He's able to think on his feet under pressure. He hates making tough decisions, but will make them anyway for the sake of either cybertron or his friends, even if it means being stern with them because in the long run, it means that they will be okay. He's willing to make peace/ put his differences aside to work with people who've personally wronged him for the greater good of others, and at the same time refuses to be a punching bag.
Tangent-----
I see those mfing headcannons talking about how Optimus would just let sentinel die or something and that is completely false
This mf wouldn't let anyone die, not if he can help it
Its a core aspect of his beliefs
That the autobots are supposed to protect all life
Its quite a shame that life includes shitheels like sentinel but it can't be helped I suppose.
Tangent end----
He can be stressed, angry, snarky and rude, and honestly I don't blame him
This motherfucker puts up with way more shit than he's ever deserved
Honestly, he's very charming for it
TFA Optimus is also canonically the most skilled autobot to ever set foot into cybertron's autobot academy
Hes more than able to handle himself in a fight, even against megatron- Perhaps not for a long while, though I can imagine the little bastard is more than capable of outmanoeuvering him.
It just really irks me when he's Babiefied cuz he's the shorter one
Its givinnnnnnngggggggggguuuuuuuhhhhhhh

I love the way the episode just drowned the 3 minutes and 17 seconds thing with how much buddie they delivered. They were like here, freak out a bit before the episode comes out and then they just gave us so much that i didn't even think to continue to question why Eddie knows it down to the second until after the episode ended. I mean, this season is playing the long game and i feel like bringing Mehta back was for more than just having a known captain at the table so it will probably be brought up again, but like, that's just something that's there. This is insane.

In the most 'Greek theatre' of ways, this is a tragedy. Tragedies are meant to teach onlookers: "See how these rich idiots, despite their riches, cannot escape the consequences of their actions, their hubris, and their defiance of the laws of common sense and decency? See their awful demise? Don't be like them."

not sure why people don't seem to understand that shiv being the victim of misogyny and vitriol from all the men in her life can and does coexist with the fact that she is not a feminist liberal hero fighting to save democracy. why is it that we never afford her any nuance? she's either the only good person on the show and deserves to kill every man in a ten foot radius (twitter) or a uniquely evil cruel sociopath with no heart fueled entirely by spite (reddit). is it not just so much more interesting for her to be a fascism aiding and abetting character like the rest of them who also views herself as more progressive in spite of everything else about her and who undergoes horrific treatment at the hands of the men around her yet has no interest in undoing the system that allows them to do so, only in ruling it herself? shiv is not any better than the others nor is she any worse than them. there's no Evil Olympics here guys, nor should there be. snook said it herself in the after credits sequence -- shiv was just lucky that her interests aligned with her sympathies. who knows what she would've done had mencken been her best personal option? yes she cares infinitely more about politics than roman, yes she is still very much interested in maintaining the capitalist, fascist structure and even strengthening it, so long as it ends with her on top (which either way would be a win for liberal causes bc Woman). fascism isn't one-size-fits-all. it's not just mencken and trump. it's also mattson. it's also logan. it's also roman and shiv and kendall. that's... kind of one of the main points of succession? but even so, that does not negate the fact that as a woman it is so hard to watch some of the scenes with her and tom/roman/kendall -- of course that misogyny will resonate with female viewers, as it should!!! but that resonance needs to coexist with a deeper understanding of her character -- if you want to root for a bad bitch fighting against misogyny go watch, i don't know, captain marvel or whatever. what makes shiv interesting is that she's so so so much more than that -- she is the product, victim, and perpetrator of misogyny and fascism, two concepts so heavily intertwined they're virtually inextricable from each other. tl;dr it's one thing to be like my god someone give shiv a gun and it's another entirely to say, entirely seriously, that shiv is the Good Liberal Feminist One and the rest are all evil. like i absolutely adore shiv but i would honest to god find her so fucking boring if she were actually the person these tweets make her out to be i'm sorry

Just saw someone on Twitter complain about the lack of Japanese people in Oppenheimer, and what did you expect??? Did you want the final act to be the bomb dropping and see people burning alive???
The reason why we don't see a Japanese perspective is because one, including a Japanese perspective, just to see how bad the suffering was would be exploitation. Two, to see an accurate and sensitive take on how the japanese felt about Oppenheimer, Christopher Nolan (as incredible as he is) isn't the right person to do this. And three, it's based on Oppenheimer's biography
Oppenheimer, the movie, literally shows you people (mostly the superiors, because by the middle/end of it you see Oppenheimer regretting his creation) doing something dubious and inhumane because they removed themselves away, both emotionally and physically, from the people they are hurting.
Nagasaki and Hiroshima only exist in those men's distant thoughts and imaginations. One guy literally asks to take a city off the bombing because that's where he had his honeymoon. It's disturbing and unsettling, as if those people were not real human beings. The lack of Japanese people drives the entire point home.
Also, Japanese cinema is right there. Barefoot Gen, Grave of the Fireflies, or Hiroshima (responsible for showing to many Americans the effects of the bombs for the first time) are just a few of the many, many decades of post-war Japanese movies we have

Prompt 168
So. Apparently halfas are like phoenixes or something, which Danny would’ve really liked to know.
See, usually with ghosts if they’re forced to retreat to their cores they reform as was, but apparently, since they’re still partially living, schrodinger's people and all that, halfas have to regrow their body from scratch. At least that’s what he’s understanding from Frostbite.
But how come he has to deal with it? It’s Dan’s fault for trying to pull such a stunt! Oh, it’s either him or Vlad? Well fuck, he might have calmed down and is going to therapy in both the living realm and the Zone, but he’s waaay not equipped to raise a child except for like, monetarily wise.
Well dammit, how long will this core incubation thing last, he has his new job in… let him check which offer he accepted again… He has his new job in Coast City that he needs to finish packing for and then all the rest of the stuff to do.
What do you mean it’ll take months?! He doesn’t have months?! Urgh, fine. At least being a mortician isn’t that exciting, nor dangerous. Just hand him Dan’s core and he’ll figure things out for the living side of things. He’s sure Tucker and Sam wouldn’t be against helping, if only to try and claim favorite aunt or uncle spots.
