Sarah's family is not poor nor are they dirt rich like those White folks. Papa Wilson has a charter service and a few fishing boats hopefully 1940s Louisiana lets Black businesses run if not thrive. The Wilsons are the backbone of the community and do everything to spread their good fortune around.

Sarah Wilson is a young widow with 2 small boys. Her husband was walking home when racism struck. The whole community came together and helped the young grief stricken family out. Sam Wilson's got some White friends up North but even they couldn't or wouldn't get involved get justice.

Sam Wilson comes home from WWI and went to partner with his Yankee White friends. He's studying an emerging field called psychology with path breaking scientists like Dr. Bruce Banner, etc.

Then there's Bucky. There's not much known about him except Captain Steve Rogers rescued his best friend since childhood from the trenches. Bucky has no memories of his time in the War except for nightmares.

Mz. Sarah's now managing their fishing business with the KKK doing their best to run the whole community off their legally owned land (and docks).

Sam Wilson comes down to help out, Bucky comes with him...

I wouldn't know how to actually flesh out this kind of story because it really need a whole load of historic perspective.

Anyone who wants to go ahead and run with this idea.
