#thranduil #the hobbit #lotr #myart #i wanna start drawing him consistently for all of these doodles anyways #i hope his emotional state/proximity to elrond will be apparent by how ornate or stripped down his clothes and jewelry are :) #he wears dark warm colors and greens elrond wears cooler colors and occasional red and copper their tailoring is to personal taste #i like that rivendell elves have really elegant lines in their clothes it makes sense w the art nouveau architecture #i think thranduil dresses p singularly tho i think his tailoring and color choices are all of his own (dramatic) #ugh wish these geezers would hurry up and court each other so i can draw elrond wearing a flower crown in the greenwood

I am happy to say my student loans are paid off and to celebrate, I treated myself to a nice piece of jewelry. I wanted something fun and special and I actually found what I was looking for. We're told in The Hobbit that beech trees are the favorites of the Mirkwood elves and their first king Oropher's name means 'tall beech'. Whoever made the costumes for Rings of Power sure do like weird looking gold and pearls. The second age were aparently not the age of jewelry making. (unless you are Celebrimbor and Sauron).

Really does make you miss and apreciate the Peter Jackson movies costume department a lot more. They did a great job making it so that each of the different races and peoples had their own characteritic design, style and culture. Separating them from each other.

The costumes in Rings of power looks like they all were designed by the same designer. There's not much that separate the different races. Only the Silvan elves weird wooden armor stands out, but once this is gone, you can't really differentiate between the humans and the elves.
