last movie: Wolfwalkers!!!!!! It was so beautiful and charming. I recommend every movie Cartoon Saloon puts out this one included!

last show: some netflix competition show about glassblowing, as background noise while working. I’ve watched a lot of that sort of thing lately because I’ve been too busy to really devote my attention to anything :(

when did you create this blog: hm, I don’t actually know how to look that up. Sometime in 2016 after I’d been obsessed with DA:I for a while and decided it was enough content to merit its own sideblog off my main account. I would guess maybe March?

what do I post: most of my Bioware reblogs go over here now, both Dragon Age and Mass Effect :) plus my original fanric, fanart, and bioware-themed crafting! Also some general writing advice/memes/etc since this is the account I interact with more fanwriters through. My non-fandom art, writing, and crafts go onto my main blog, @songofsaraneth!

last thing googled: “kinds of fruit spiky” becuase I was trying to remember the name of a new weird fruit I have eaten. My 2021 resolution is a continuation of my 2020 resolution, which is to eat more strange fruits! As in if I go to the grocery store, and there is a fruit for sale I have never tried before or not eaten in a long time, I buy one and sample it :) The fruit in question for this googling btw was “rambutan”! It was good, pretty sweet and sort of like a juicy gummy in texture.

do I get asks: every now and then I get a fit of inspiration and reblog a bunch of prompt lists in a row, and then when people actually send them and I look in my inbox, I go “Hmmmm” and vanish for a week becuase writing is hard. so sorry if you have ever sent me a prompt, i promise you i made a word document with the prompt copied and pasted into it before i got moody and went out for a hike instead. No one wants to know what the inside of my WIP folder looks like...

why I chose my url: I was just desperately searching for any DA/Solas related url that wasn’t already claimed, at the height of the DAI fandom heyday. I’m sure many are free now.

average hours of sleep: depends on how early I have to be awake the following day. If I have no obligations I’ll sleep for ~7 hours or so. But if I do then usually less since I’m fairly nocturnal and it’s really hard for me to fall asleep. I’d guess 5-7 on average, but sometimes with bad nights of only 3-4.

instruments: I spent the last several years learning Taiko Drumming from an amazing group of older women in the town I lived in. I was heartbroken to move and no longer be able to drum last summer. I could still practice on my own just with the motions/no drum, but losing the group energy element of it really makes me too sad to do so. I also grew up playing classical flute from grade school through the start of college, and once in college transitioned a bit to tin whistle instead. I’ve collected a variety of flutes/whistles/piccolos over the years in different styles but am not good about playing them on my own.

dream job: literal dragon, but i’d settle for mermaid astronaut

dream trip: I’ve been recently obsessed with Greenland. Also, anywhere tropical.

last book I read: I’m currently almost done with of A Conspiracy of Kings by Megan Whalen Turner

favorite food: cheese... like a really nice charcuterie board with a nice variety of cheeses + cured meats + jams + fruit + crackers. though Charis’ answer for this was homemade pizza and oh boy am I craving that now

nationality: All 4 of my grandparents were 1st generation americans! So I’m a mix of Lithuanian, Irish, Italian, and the other 1/4 is a German/Belgian/European mystery

favorite song: gosh so many. I’ve recently been in a country/country-gothic/folk/folk-rock mood because of a D&D game I’m a part of, so here’s a link to the playlist for my character that fits that vibe

top three fictional universes: hmmm i’m going to go with besides the obvious DA/ME universes (which I love to play in even if i wouldn’t want to live in them)... so I’ll pick Middle Earth, Star Trek, and Animorphs :)

Kirkwall’s finest

If it’s too bloody hot for her, then Cullen must be blistering. Puffing damp hair out of her eyes Annabel goes to suggest they leave. Surely the smell in the room at the hanged man can’t be any worse than the marketplace right now? The taint of old fish is somehow mixing with old sweat from hundreds of Kirkwall’s finest citizens to make something beyond unpleasant. Only when she goes to look at him, he’s nowhere to be seen.

Odd. He wasn’t exactly the most inconspicuous of men, and yet as she turns on the spot she finds herself very much alone. Or almost.

“Jim, where’s Cullen?” she asks, absently mindedly rubbing at the joining of her prosthetic hand which is becoming increasingly annoying in the heat. Maker, what she wouldn’t give for the tiny wisp of a breeze right now! This unrelenting humidity is threatening to drive her insane and she’s certain no one wants to experience that.

“He’s not gone far, Inquisitor,” reports the officer in a manner that has blatantly been rehearsed a hundred times in his head, and one which she is not remotely going to fall for.

“And which direction is that?”

“I couldn’t say, Inquisitor.”

“Couldn’t, or won’t,” she narrows her eyes slightly, suspicions growing as the man shifts on the spot. Jim, for all his lack of acting skills, does at least remain loyal to whatever promise he’s made to his commanding officer and keeps his mouth shut. Glowering lightly she stands on tiptoes, but it’s no use in the bustle of the market. “Guess I’ll have to wonder the back alleys searching for him then,” she mock sighs while settling back down on her heels. “I mean, it’s only Kirkwall, right? How dangerous can it be?”

“Er… No… er, I don’t. The Commander said I was to keep you safe, Inquisitor,” Jim looks away unable to meet her eye, but still steps closer out of precaution.

“Then you best either ready your sword or show me where he went, hadn’t you?”

With a reluctant last glance around, Jim finally nods.

Spying her husband once there is a clear line of sight isn’t tricky, broad, sculpted shoulders make him a prominent figure wherever he went, not to mention the nestle of curls he bears, turned wheaten gold by the sun as it continues its onslaught from above. She takes a moment to admire him through the gaps in the crowd, noting how he rubs at his neck, his bare forearms starting to lightly freckle in the sun. Hints of raw muscle can be seen rippling across his back as he performs a series of bashful gestures, she also catches patches of his shirt darkened by sweat. Hmmm… he really should take that off....

Slipping over she wraps an arm around his waist. “Buying me a secret present, dear husband, how very thoughtful,” she hums which sees him clamp is hand tight around the goods and almost jump clear out of his skin.

“Maker’s breath! Annabel - I thought,” he glances over his shoulder to the officer who is looking every which way but at them. “I thought you were looking at fabrics, I… I wanted it to be a surprise…”

Guilt tugs at her core as his eyes drop. She has a bizarre relationship with surprises, never quite sure if she adored or loathed them. But one thing is certain, and that’s when coming from Cullen a surprise was always sweet and heartfelt. Meant for a meaningful moment. A moment she has spoiled with her impatience.

“I was… But it’s just so damn hot… I didn’t mean to ruin anything,” her voice softens at that, squeezing him slightly, but his body remains still stiff under her touch. “Like I said, it’s hot... and why, Maker, please tell me, does it smell like fish even though the dock is all the way over there? Hmm?”

That at least manages to crack a smile on his lips.

“This is Kirkwall, just be grateful it doesn’t smell like blood and brimstone,” his amber hues dance her way before the shopkeep keenly clears her throat.

“Yes, of course, apologies,” he hands over some coin and goes to tuck the small pouch in his hand away, but pauses. “You didn’t ruin anything,” he murmurs softly, turning to her now with the sun overhead, casting perfect shadows of his brows which do nothing to dampen the amber of in his eyes. “Turn around.”

For once she does as instructed without complaint, or hesitation, keen to put whatever tension she had caused as far from him as possible. The cold touch of a gemstone hits the hollow of her throat to make her gasp mildly before it slips further down, the pendant bobbing as the dainty chain holds firm.

“I was going to give this to you for the celebration your family had planned, to go with the dress you brought with you...”

Lifting up the gem to the light she catches it sparkle in a rainbow of red that blossoms warmth in her chest. The garnet is an excellent match to the rich red of her favourite gown, and she can scarcely believe he’s managed to find such a thing amidst the chaos of so many stalls.

“Cullen, I…. It’s beautiful…” her fingertips take in its subtle ridges as she ruminates on the way it sparkles, unique, every which way she turns it. “It’s...more than beautiful, its perfect… how did you…” she lets her astonished words fade as he reaches round to kiss her cheek.

“No, it’s only perfect now it’s on you,” he murmurs.

With a little chuckle, she turns around in his embrace until she’s able to hook both her arms up around his neck and let his naturally rest around her waist. Tiptoeing up Annabel places a kiss to his lips, flavoured with sweet honey mead and even sweeter tenderness.

“No,” she murmurs against them, dropping her tone for his ears alone. “It will look perfect when it’s the only thing on me...“

1. Why did you choose your url?

I made it up, mostly thought it sounded like a plant or a spell maybe??

2. Any side blogs?

Since this is my art one, I do have a personal one, otherwise I have some old ask blogs I’ve kind of neglected.

3. How long have you been on Tumblr?

Since 2014, dived in with my first rp account and chaos ensued. (

4. Do you have a queue tag?

I used to? But not really anymore. I kind of just post whenever at this point.

5. Why did you start your blog in the first place?

Hmmm, well the first one I ever did was an rp account, so then I needed one for personal and mun stuff. Then it turned into just a personal account and now it’s my art account where I can post art and share with people.

6. Why did you choose your icon/pfp?

Hahaha XD I just changed it this morning before I saw this actually. I’m exhausted from staying up way too late having fun with friends, playing XIV, and drawing. Makes it a little hellish at work, but well worth the serotonin I get from interacting with friends! Anyway, yeah it’s just a quick doodle of an exhausted me XD

7. Why did you choose your header?

What even is my-- Oh, right. Yeah so I’m a graphic designer and illustrator. Thought I’d advertise it in case anyone stumbles on the blog. Currently looking for a job as a graphic designer too XD so I’ve been using that banner/header on a lot of my stuff.

8. What’s your post with the most notes?

The most notes? Oh gosh.....ummm according tumblr top nine it’s this one, but I feel like that’s only because I tagged my friend who has a significantly bigger following XD Otherwise my next one is this one that I did back in 2018

Oh god ;w; I don’t know??!? I mean I have friends on here, so at least 4 for sure >> otherwise, I have no clue man

umm....let me check it’s been a while since I’ve actually checked. 463 followers >> oh wow, umm hi?? I guess when I hit 500 I’ll do something fun??

ah....too many? 930, okay not as bad as I thought. Though I think it might be time to go through the list again so probably less.

lol yeah, probably a lot more when I was younger than I do now ;w; now I shitpost in Discord instead >D

daily! I scroll through for inspiration a lot during my coffee time in the morning. Or when I’m trying to fall asleep at night and can’t.

nope! At least....none that I can think of?? I try to keep fights and arguments personal honestly. Don’t need air everything out on the internet.

15. How do you feel about ‘you need to reblog this’ posts?

it’s...complicated. On here, where I post my art, usually not thought.

sure! They can be a fun way of getting to know someone.

oh definitely >> I still have some hug prompts I need to get eventually. Sorry it’s taking so long ;w; the energy is sparse and the motivation even more so.

ummm maybe @spatziline??? otherwise I have no clue OTL I don’t keep up with who is famous on here or not. I’m just here to have a fun time.

FAQ

In General

Do you take requests? My guy, without requests, this blog will go dry very quickly. We are high maintenance and require a lot of attention.

Will you write all requests that you receive? We reserve the right not to write a request if we don’t vibe with it. We will explain why we won’t, and whining won’t change our minds. Otherwise we will do our absolute best to see that all requests get written.

What if I don’t like something in your fics? If you see something wrong in our fics, feel free to let us know politely. If you are rude, we will make a note of what annoyed you and we will feature it prominently in our following fics until you (or someone nicer than you) asks nicely for us to change it. If it is a trigger we won’t do that, obviously, but we will do our best to tag so that doesn’t happen. Don’t read things if they have a trigger warning for something that triggers you. I shouldn’t have to say it, yet here we are. If you dislike the characterization, we can open up a dialogue and maybe we’ll write you one with a characterization that you prefer. Or maybe we’ll tell you to shove it. Depends on how things go. If you dislike the things we write about (e.g. Death Eaters from Harry Potter), then don’t f***ing read that fic. Blacklist it, whatever. We know why and how they are problematic, we just dgaf. It’s for fun.

Why don’t you have a masterlist/other Tumblr things? We are new to this whole writing thing, Midnight to Tumblr in general, and Serpentine has never written her own post before, so be patient. We are learning this whole thing as we go, and it was meant as more of an experiment than a job anyway. We will do our best to make a masterlist and make the blog easy to search, but it has a learning curve, so don’t be surprised if we don’t manage right away (or ever)

Do you have a tag list? We could try?

How often do you update? Depends on how much love and attention we get. If we get a lot of requests, we’ll be doing a lot of writing, Real Life™ allowing.

Can I reblog? If you make sure our names are still on it, you do what you like, my guy.

Can I tag you in things? Can I give you an internet hug? Ofc. Remember what I said about attention?

Can I message you? If it is for requests, we’d prefer you keep it in the asks, but if you wanna say something, then sure. Keep it PG for Serpentine’s virgin eyes tho. (Serpentine can deal with it, don’t be a wuss - Midnight) (You’re a wanker - Serpentine)

What don’t you write? Incest, non-con, A/B/O (bc Midnight will die), m-preg, underage anything ever, etc. Just keep it level guys. Don’t make it weird.

What happens with any original fiction that you post? I won’t post much of it, and it won’t be anything that I ever have intentions on making into A Thing™ so it’s basically just like our fanfics, go ahead and reblog if you feel just keep our names attached. Also, try not to write anything based off of it or anything like that, but if it sparks something, you do you. We’re reasonably chill until you’re a dick. (Then we’re chillier than a frost giant’s cold shoulder - Midnight)

What happens if I want to be a prick about your writing while on anon? Come at me, bro.

What types of requests do you take? We’re going to try to have a prompts list, or borrow some from fellow writing accounts that are okay with others using their lists, but prompts that you come up with are definitely great! Imagines, multi-chap fics, one-shots, drabbles, headcanons, it’s all fair game.

Harry Potter - Sirius Black, Remus Lupin, Charlie Weasley, Fred Weasley, George Weasley, Draco Malfoy, Antonin Dolohov, Thorfinn Rowle, Rodolphus Lestrange (although I characterize him as fatherly more than anything), Rabastan Lestrange (although don’t expect mental stability), Fenrir Greyback, Corban Yaxley, Evan Rosier, Lucius Malfoy (if we go AU), Lucissa (Narcissa Black nee Malfoy + Lucius Malfoy), Theodore Nott, Blaise Zabini, Regulus Black, Jily (James + Lily), Sily (which is my take on Sirius + Lily, though mostly they are platonic sometimes I think hmm). I have a lot of my own personal headcanons for nearly all of these characters because I have spent many years of my life ‘living’ in the Wizarding World when I should have been doing my homework, so if something doesn’t vibe for you, I apologise, but I am very specific about my Harry Potter.

POV & Other Characters: These can be OC or reader, platonic and romantic or unpaired accepted. For Harry Potter, I can also write them as Hermione Granger (like most HP fics are tbh). As for other characters, it’s all negotiable, but with Harry Potter fandom Slytherin characters are much more likely to get the OK bc I’m House biased (Go Snakes). The ones marked as couples are only written as couples, so don’t try to make me pair dear James Potter with anyone other than his Lily.

How long does it take to write a request: If I’m inspired, maybe an hour or two. Now when I post it...

Open to ask memes: Absolutely the hell yes. I love talking about myself.

Special Rules: I do not write smut (yet, bc I am innocent in the ways of the flesh), but I will yeet those to Midnight and I’ll do my best to take any other requests and if y’all wanna drop nasty imagines into the ask box or something, we’re all ears (eyes?). I will write poly ships, though again I reserve the right to decide how (e.g. M/M or nah) and there will be no sin.

9. POV & other characters: I prefer reader inserts, however, if you would like an OC I would recommend naming the OC with a nickname so it makes it nicer for other readers to enjoy it. I will do specific ships if I ship them or I know enough about the ship. (eg WonderTrevor, SuperWonder, Stony, Stucky, IronStrange etc) I am also pretty okay with writing smut, but I may not be able to for specific characters/ships due to lack of experience in writing the sin, lol. (and yes, I will take your smut requests for Serpentine’s characters, and work with her to achieve the correct characterization, so long as time permits us to work on it in a timely fashion)

10. How long does it take to write a request: Depends on how busy I am, the alignment of the stars, the weather… jk, in truth, I can be very busy and also have to manage my own health so it can be from a half hour (if I’m really inspired) to up to a week or two. (I will try my best to turn out work in a decent time though, and if I have to ask Serpentine for help I will)
