Whispers of destiny
Chapter 1
Wedding hells🔔
Bela's POV:
I'm a homebody, especially when it comes to avoiding weddings. People aren't really my scene. But hey, food? Now that's my jam. I rocked a pearl white dress with white scarf, and tauny brown khussa, feeling like my own version of Princess Jasmine. That's some serious self-love, right?
"Bit bright?" Aunty judged, rolling her eyes.
"Who?" I looked around innocently.
"Obviously, you, Bela!" She smirked firing back.
"Well, aunty pouring a white creamy sauce over brownie ever made brownie white? Or have you seen gulab jamun turning white upon pouring a sweet sauce? I fired back.
"You've got a point, but no one will marry you with that dark skin, beta," Aunty smirked, thinking she'd won.
"Thank God, I have dark skin, not a dark mind like them. So, that won't work out, Aunty. And please, don't worry about me." I laughed it off.
"No, beta, you're missing the point. White just doesn't suit you," Aunty persisted.
"I liked your 'Black Lives Matter' post on Facebook. Nice supporting black lives while bullying brown ones," I retorted, adjusting my hijab. Suddenly, aunty was saved by an imaginary caller - she vanished in seconds.
"Queenie, you dropped this," a teenage girl pretended to hand me a crown. We shared a laugh, that "don't-tell-us-what-to-do" kind. Meanwhile, the newlyweds exchanged glances while laughing.
Desi aunties, never letting up at weddings, always have something to say - weight, complexion, age, you name it. And don't get me started on their obsession with beauty remedies from YouTube channels predicting the world's end!
"Wait, let me guess, Samrina's daughter? All grown up!" Aunty excitedly guessed.
"Oh, Aunty, I remember you!" I tried to match her energy, figuring her out.
"Have you seen my mom?" I asked again.
"She was right there talking to a lady," she replied.
"Thank you so much!" I flashed a bright smile.
"Ammi," I grabbed her hand.
"Yes, beta? Is everything okay?" Ammi asked.
"Everything's fine, except me. I'm starving. When's the food?" I fake-cried.
Ammi chuckled. "What would people say? This girl's here only for food?"
"Exactly! You drag me to these events, and you know why I come." I narrowed my eyes playfully.
"What else can drag you out of your kingdom?" Ammi teased.
"Okay, let's eat something and go home," I suggested, heading to the buffet.
The spicy chicken tikka was so aromatic, blending perfectly with the environment. "Ready to go?" I wiped my mouth with a tissue.
"They'll say we were here just for food," Ammi joked.
"That's the truth. We were here for the food," I said, making an innocent face.
"Assalamualaikum, Aunty, how are you?" An unfamiliar voice interrupted.
"Wa alaikum assalam, Saad, beta," Ammi responded gently.
"Congratulations on your sister's wedding. They look good together," Ammi said, observing the couple.
"Jazakallah khayran, Aunty," he smiled.
I noticed some action that signaled a message between Ammi and me.
"Saad, uncle's looking for you," Hadeed interrupted.
As Saad hurried away, I couldn't help but notice his good sense of style, wearing white shalwar qameez, the classic Pakistani drama look. But I wasn't interested in checking him out. Whenever aunties ask me about what I look in a guy, I look away, i answer which always offends them.
As I adjusted my white embroidered dupatta, it got stuck somewhere. When I turned back, I saw him pulling away, and my dupatta got freed from his silver watch. My heart sank - what just happened? This was my choice of color today. How could someone with the same color scheme casually appear, and my dupatta get tangled in his stuff?
"Destiny?" I pondered. "Is this my Bollywood moment?"
"Haram, haram, haram," Mufti Menk's voice echoed. "Stop looking over there, stupid Bela."
"We gotta go," I grabbed Mom's hand, and we made our exit.

I'm going to a wedding later this year and already I'm torn between dressing masc* or fem
*my "masc" means like, a skirt, button-up shirt, turban, typically paired with a bolo tie or beaded necklace. Whereas my fem would be a fancy dress + hijab paired with some earrings or smth.

I drew Barrisoka’s wedding for @loading3percent and their Clone Wars fix-it AU. This is version #1! I quite like how this one turned out, but I’ll be messing around with other styles for the same image in a bit :)
If this ship isn’t for you, just keep scrolling.
Image Description: This is a fanart of two Star Wars characters, Ahsoka Tano and Barriss Offee, kissing at their wedding. They look to be in their mid-twenties. Ahsoka is wearing a sleeveless blue gown with a cutout on the back that flares around the knees. The gown has gold embroidery on the hem and a slit that partially shows Ahsoka’s right leg. She is wearing a belt and armband made of gold Akul teeth like her headband. She is kissing her wife Barriss, who is wearing a light purple hijab with a matching dress and cape. Her jewelry is gold, matching Ahsoka’s. The embroidery on her dress is gold too in vaguely botanical designs. The couples’ arms are wrapped around each other. Behind them is a stylized sun-like design in white line work with designs of Akul teeth and embroidery like on Barriss’s dress. On Ahsoka’s side of the painting is Captain Rex in a Grand Army dress uniform, Riyo Chuchi in a gold bridesmaid’s dress (she is holding the bouquet), and Padme Amidala in a similar gold bridesmaids dress. They are smiling proudly. On Barriss’s side is Luminara Unduli, her old mentor. Next to her is another Mirilan woman, Barriss’s cousin and bridesmaid who she reconnected with in this AU. Barriss’s cousin is in a gold headscarf and a gold and black dress, and is holding the hand of a young child, her daughter, who is wearing similar colors and holding a well-loved doll. They are all smiling proudly. In the background are more faces, though with less definition. The background is in shades of gold and pink lighting. End of Image Description.

With the punny runway prompt of “ass the world turns”, episode four of Drag Race All Stars got me thinking about historical periods of fashion that would apply. And what’s a better era of small waist + big booty than the Victorian period? With bustle skirts all the rage, it was a natural fit. Partner that with some exotic adventuring and you have a chic explorer ready to travel the globe.

just stood outside in my way too cold house outfit jfhwjfhe
remember our sweet neighbor who baked bread for us and fed us homemade lahmacun? one of her sons is getting married today and we were invited to come downstairs to watch the festivities. it's a big Turkish/Moroccan wedding, so there was a lot of car honking, a lot of music, a lot of dancing, and even more beautiful people
the bride was absolutely stunning in a gorgeous bordeaux ball gown wedding dress and matching veil with lace details, our neighbor looked Extra Beautiful in a dress that had the prettiest shade of purple I've seen in a looong time with a hijab in a slightly lighter shade of purple than her dress, and just. so many beautiful people. I can't stress enough how beautiful everyone was
and our tiny little neighbor kids from two apartments over proudly showed off the henna on their hands (the tiniest one: "I have hearts. you have nailpowish!")
godddd I love humans

The Wedding Of The World
Summary:  Yasmin Khan and the Thirteenth Doctor attend the wedding of Tegan and Nyssa. Reflections on the Doctor's past are par for the course, especially when a certain old U.N.I.T. sergeant appears.
~~~~~~~~~~
                 Read on FFN.                                    Read on AO3.
~~~~~~~~~~
‘Yaz, you reckon this looks okay?’
Yasmin Khan turned. The Doctor pulled back the curtain of the changing cubicle and walked out.
They were wearing a deep blue three-piece suit. It was lightly speckled with white dots, so that it looked like the night sky. Yaz wouldn’t have been surprised if each cluster was based on an actual constellation.
‘You look gorgeous,’ Yaz said, stepping forward and kissing her partner on the cheek. ‘That colour suits you.’
The Doctor seemed to blush.
‘You sure you’re okay coming along?’ the blonde asked. ‘I mean, you won’t really know anyone there; I don’t want you to feel uncomfortable.’
‘Hey, you went to Sonya’s wedding where you barely knew anyone,’ Yaz replied. ‘The least I can do is do the same for you.’
The Doctor smiled and pressed a kiss to Yaz’s cheek.
‘You’re the best, you are,’ they said. ‘You look bloody beautiful too.’
Yaz felt her cheeks flush. She was wearing a bright yellow dress and a light wrap that went over her shoulders. It was of a similar design to the one she had worn to Sonya’s wedding, aside from the lack of hijab.
‘Thanks.’
The two of them headed back to towards the console room and out the blue doors.
Yaz stepped out of the TARDIS. The Doctor had parked on a grassy verge. A few hundred metres away, Yaz could see a large hall, the sort of venue used for events like weddings, which already had people milling around outside. The sun was already starting to get low in the sky; it must have been getting on for evening.
‘All ready?’
The Doctor locked the TARDIS door and came to stand next to Yaz.
‘Always am,’ Yaz smiled, taking the blondes hand.
The Doctor smiled and led her up the path towards the hall, squeezing Yaz’s hand as the two of them walked along.
Upon entering, they discovered that the main hall was filled with people. Yaz could spot people in military dress, a few scientists in bow ties and even one girl her own age wearing a leather jacket. A large amount of seats had been placed in rows in the main part of the hall.
The two of them probably would have started mingling with the crowd but, at that moment, the music started, and the assembled people hurried over to the rows of seats, all facing a podium.
Yaz and the Doctor sat down.
There was some whispering and Yaz saw a couple walk up the aisle in the middle of the seats. Two women; one was wearing a purple suit and the other a long burgundy tunic and matching trousers. The later had long, very curly hair while the former had a short dark-brown bob.
A blonde haired man, dressed in cricket gear, was smiling at the couple from the front row.
The registrar stepped forward. He was a man of average height, with very short, dark hair. Bizarrely, he was wearing a leather jacket as opposed to formal wear. Yaz shot a quizzical look at the Doctor, who responded with a guilty look. Presumably, this was the leather-jacket-wearing version of the Doctor that they had mentioned a while back.
‘Love is a funny thing,’ said the registrar, speaking in a Northern (was it Mancunian?) accent. ‘It came happen when you least expect it, in the strangest of places,  and in the most extraordinary ways. While the world is constantly moving on, love is what keeps us going. Be that romantic, platonic, familial or any other kind. It’s what we come home to at the end of the day.’
The Doctor slipped their hand into Yaz’s.
‘Tegan and Nyssa met on a day that was marked by tragedy for both of them,’ continued the registrar, indicating first the woman in the purple suit and then the woman in the tunic. ‘And, yet, they found comfort and support in each other during that difficult time and the days that followed it. They found peace with each other. Even when they were at opposite ends of the galaxy, their own love for each other brought them back together.’
‘Yeah, and a few frantic phone calls,’ the woman called Tegan chuckled, in an Australian accent. There was an outbreak of gentle laughter from Nyssa as well as the guests, many of whom were apparently used to Tegan’s wit.
‘Yes, and that,’ the registrar continued. ‘Life’s funny like that. Anyway, no good chinwagging; on to the vows…’
As the two women exchanged their vows, Yaz couldn’t help but feel genuinely happy for the couple, even though this was her first time meeting them. To be so committed to each other despite all of life’s difficulties (especially after having dealt with space and time shenanigans) was wonderful to behold.
The Doctor squeezed Yaz’s hand and she couldn’t help but smile to herself.
‘Tegan and Nyssa, I now pronounce you married,’ said the registrar, grinning from ear to ear. ‘You may now kiss each other.’
There was a cheer from the assembled guests as Tegan and Nyssa, both smiling happily, pressed their lips together. They swayed slightly as they kissed, presumably giddy with happiness.
There was a wolf whistle from the back of the crowd, and the two broke apart, both laughing.
‘Say some for the honeymoon, you two!’
Smiling widely, Tegan and Nyssa walked down the aisle, holding hands. Everyone stood to applaud, and Yaz couldn’t help the wide smile that blossomed on her face. This was… special.
Gradually, the assembled guests followed Tegan and Nyssa away from the main part of the hall and into another room, most of which was taken up by a dance floor.
‘Would you like a drink?’ the Doctor whispered into Yaz’s ear. ‘My treat; got money this time.’
‘Apple juice, please.’
‘Right. Be back in a mo, love.’
The Doctor pressed a kiss to Yaz’s cheek and hurried away.
‘You know the Doctor, then?’
Yaz turned. The girl wearing the leather jacket had come to stand next to her. She was grinning lopsidedly.
Yaz felt her face burn.
‘Er… yeah. I’m Yaz. I take it you’re Ace McShane?’
‘How could you tell?’
‘Tegan and Nyssa mentioned you in the invitation. You’re the one who likes fireworks, right?’
‘The very same,’ Ace said, chuckling. ‘Cute accent, by the way; what part of Yorkshire are you from-’
‘Accccceee!’
The leather-clad girl sighed, and turned. An older man, wearing a Panama hat, was gesturing at her to hurry over.
‘Gotta go,’ she said. ‘The professors probably found something he wants to investigate. Bye, Yaz.’
Ace walked away, her hands in her jacket pockets.
‘Was that Ace?’
The Doctor had appeared next to Yaz, holding two drinks.
‘Er, yeah,’ Yaz said, her face now very flushed.
‘She has that effect on women,’ the Doctor chuckled, pressing a quick kiss to Yaz’s cheek before placing the requested apple juice into her hands. ‘Especially good-looking women like you.’
‘I kinda gathered,’ Yaz replied. ‘You have a habit of picking up queer women, don’t you?’
‘Not intentionally!’ The Doctor exclaimed, looking a little flustered. ‘Besides, Ace was like my daughter, y’know?’
‘I know, love,’ Yaz chuckled, patting the blonde on the shoulder.
‘I take it you’re the Doctor?’
Yaz and the Doctor both turned.
An older man was sat nearby. He was tall, with an affable, kind smile, and was wearing a light blue suit. A pair of long, silvery sideburns framed his face. Judging from his posture, he was one of the U.N.I.T people that the Doctor used to work with.
The Doctor’s face lit up.
‘Benton!’
The Doctor hurried towards the man and frantically shook his hand, their face now in a wide grin.
‘My dear fellow!’ exclaimed the Doctor. ‘Talk about a blast from the past! How are ya? I haven’t seen you since…’
‘That nasty business with the duplicate invasion, I believe,’ Benton replied, smiling. ‘Good grief, that was a few decades ago. I take it you’ve changed a few times since then.’
‘A good few times, yeah,’ the Doctor said. ‘You like the accent? Yaz always says I’m very Yorkshire for a Time Lord. Oh, ‘ave you met Yaz?’
Yaz found herself grabbed by the arm and pulled over.
‘Benton, this is my partner Yaz.’
‘Pleasure to meet you,’ Benton said, as Yaz shook his hand. ‘I used to work with the Doctor, back in the U.N.I.T days in the… seventies? Eighties?’
‘Honestly, I’ve no clue-hang on, is that Ian and Barbara?’ The Doctor said, pointing over to a couple stood nearby the bar. ‘Haven’t seen them in donkeys year; be back in a mo!’
The Doctor hurried off, leaving Yaz stood next to Mr Benton. Deciding that he probably didn’t want to be stood up for long, Yaz sat down on a chair nearby and Benton followed suit.
‘So…’ Benton said, nodding towards where the blonde had run off to. ‘The Doctor hasn’t changed much, then?’
‘You reckon?’
Benton nodded.
‘Still the same person, just with a different face. And I’ve seen a few of the Doctors faces. The last time I saw them was when they had curly hair and a long scarf.’
‘Multi-coloured?’ Yaz asked. ‘Yeah, I think I’ve seen that thing lying about somewhere.’
Benton smiled.
‘The Doctor’s partner, eh?’
Yaz found herself blushing.
‘Er… yeah,’ she mumbled. ‘It’s… well, things just kinda happened.’
Benton chuckled.
‘The Doctor has mentioned other people in the past… Jamie, Peri…’ Yaz said, quietly. ‘I know I’m not the first person to travel with them.’
‘Hey, not of that,’ Benton said, quickly, no doubt noticing the tone of Yaz’s voice. ‘The Doc clearly respects you a lot. Besides… I don’t know if any of those people were… y’know… romantic with the Doctor.’
‘Thanks,’ Yaz said. ‘But… what happened to all those others?’
‘Hang on a mo,’ Benton said, reaching into his jacket. He pulled out an old photograph. ‘This was some of the people around the Doctor back in my time.’
Yaz stared down at the photograph. It was in black and white, and showed a group of people stood around what looked like a quarry. There was a much younger Mr Benton, looking barely older than Yaz and wearing military fatigues.
‘That’s the Doctor I knew at that time,’ Benton said, gesturing to a dandy with curly white hair and a frilly shirt. ‘One of their faces, anyway. This one knew martial arts.’
Yaz’s eyes widened. Although she had heard her Doctor mention their previous incarnations, to see another version of the Doctor in a black and white photograph, with people who were now old enough to be Yaz’s grandparents… it boggled the mind.
‘That’s Doctor Elizabeth Shaw,’ Benton said, pointing to a young woman stood in the centre of the photo. ‘She was one of our scientific advisors.’
‘She’s beautiful…’ Yaz murmured, without thinking, and immediately blushing. Benton grinned good-naturedly and continued.
‘And smart too; at least a dozen PHDs. She lives with her wife Patsy in the south of England now, I believe. Now, that’s the Brigadier,’ Benton continued, now gesturing to a man with a moustache stood further along in the photo. ‘Lethbridge-Stewart. His daughter runs U.N.I.T nowadays.’
‘I think the Doctor mentioned her,’ Yaz said. ‘Kate, right?’
Benton nodded, and continued.
‘Captain Yates,’-pointing at another, younger man with a mop of long, immaculately combed hair- ‘He was the person who owned the camera. My old commanding officer, actually. We all left the Doctor at some point, or… they left us, more accurately. The one with the scarf wasn’t nearly as happy sticking around with U.N.I.T. Although, by that point, Doctor Shaw and Captain Yates had both left us as well.’
‘So… you never travelled with the Doctor?’
‘In the TARDIS, you mean? Just once. Funnily enough, that Doctor’s predecessors were there as well. That was a pretty wacky day, all things said. People who do regularly travel with the Doctor… well, from what I can gather; some leave when they have to, like Tegan, who left after one too many Dalek invasions. Some when they need to, like Doctor Shaw, who got understandably sick of being treated like a tea-lady. Some… some don’t much of a choice in the matter.’
Yaz stared at Benton. The man’s face was suddenly contemplative.
‘Adric, you mean?’
Benton sighed, placing the photograph back in his jacket pocket.
‘I heard from the Brigadier… at one point, a version of the Doctor appeared in Britain in the early eighties but, when they appeared a few years later again, the boy who had previously been with them…’
There was a moment of silence. Yaz didn’t know the full details, but she could guess. Especially since there had been a seat kept empty in the front row of the wedding ceremony.
‘Still, that’s life, I suppose,’ Benton continued. ‘And I doubt that young man would want people to get upset over him on a day like today. He was something of a younger brother to Tegan.’
‘Really?’
‘Yeah. They bickered and argued but, from what Tegan has told me, he still wanted Tegan and Nyssa to be happy. I’d… well, I’d bet he’d be glad that they’re finally married.’
Yaz smiled. Benton was a sweet old sort.
‘You upsetting the Doctor’s golden girl, Benton?’
Yaz turned.
Tegan, resplendent in her purple suit, was smiling down at them. Nyssa was stood next to her, their hands intertwined. The two of them were clearly very giddy from the excitement of their wedding day.
‘No,’ Benton said, smiling at the couple. ‘Just… thinking about old times.’
‘Dangerous thing to do around here,’ Nyssa said. ‘Considering the amount of time and space travel we’ve all experienced.’
Benton laughed, his cheeks dimpling despite his age.
‘I best go,’ he said, grinning. ‘I remember Jo said she wanted a dance for old-times-sake. Nice to meet you, Yaz.’
With another affable smile and a quick handshake with each of the three women, Benton stood up and walked away, with a more confident stride than Yaz would have expected given his advanced years.
Nyssa sat down beside Yaz.
‘I think I best have a talk with young Yasmin here,’ she said, smiling. ‘Her first time meeting us, and it’s at our wedding.’
‘Okay but don’t keep her too long, Yaz,’ Tegan said, pressing a kiss to Nyssa’s cheek. ‘I want my first dance with my wife.’
Nyssa smiled happily at her new title, her cheeks pinkening.
‘Don’t worry, my darling,’ she replied, squeezing Tegan’s hand. ‘I’ll be round in a minute or two.’
Tegan smiled and walked away, disappearing into the crowd.
‘You two make a great couple.’
‘Thank you, Yasmin,’ Nyssa replied, smiling after her wife. ‘It has been a long time coming. We were best friends aboard the TARDIS, then separated for decades before we were finally reunited. I still can’t quite believe I’m now married to her. I… I think that I probably fell for her on the very first day we met. By the sounds of it, the feeling was much the same for Tegan.’
‘I can believe it. The way you two look at each other… it’s beautiful.’
Nyssa smiled.
‘Thank you again. To be honest, I’m surprised that your Doctor is so similar to the face that Tegan and I travelled with all those years ago.’
‘Is the Doctor… really not changed?’
‘Well,’ Nyssa replied. ‘When I knew the Doctor, they were kind, earnest and wanted to help people. It seems to me that they are still much the same as they ever were. Even if their newest face looks young enough to be my daughter! Very different from…well, you saw that face of the Doctor today; the man in the cricket gear?’
Yaz stared at her, mouth briefly dropping open.
‘How many versions of the Doctor are here today?’
‘I don’t like to imagine,’ Nyssa said, chuckling. ‘There are definitely a few here that I didn’t recognise, so they were probably after my time. But I think our Doctor -that is, the version Tegan and myself travelled with- appreciated being here today. I always got the sense that he felt he’d let us both down.’
‘The way you both left, you mean?’
Nyssa looked at her and nodded.
‘Travelling with the Doctor isn’t safe,’ Nyssa said. ‘But, then again, it wouldn’t be nearly as much fun if it was.’
‘True,’ Yaz replied. ‘That’s why I love it. Why I love them.’
Nyssa smiled, looking into the middle distance.
‘That’s how I feel about Tegan. We went through a lot of hardships when travelling with the Doctor, and in our individual journeys before Tegan found me again. But… I wouldn’t trade any of it for the world. For better and for worse, after all.’
Nyssa turned back to Yaz, and the two women shared a smile, Yaz marvelling at the calm peace that seemed to emanate from the bride.
‘You probably ought to get back to Tegan now, though,’ Yaz said, standing up. ‘Got your first dance together ‘n all.’
Nyssa smiled and stood up as well.
The two headed back to the dancefloor, and Nyssa joined Tegan in the centre.
Yaz sidled up next to the Doctor, who was stood at the edge of the dancefloor with everyone else. The blonde smiled and took Yaz’s hand. No matter how many times they did this, Yaz always got butterflies, as if her crush had never quite gone away. But maybe that was alright.
The music started playing, and the newly married couple put their arms around each other to dance.
Looking from a window above, it's like a story of love… can you hear me…
Tegan and Nyssa swayed together, smiling. Yaz vaguely remembered hearing her mum sing along to this song on a Top of the Pops rerun. Eighties, perhaps? Sounded about right.
All I needed was the love you gave… all I needed for another day… and all I ever knew…only you…
Yaz squeezed her hand against the Doctors, watching silently as Tegan and Nyssa swayed together for the entirety of the song, whispering to each other words that no-one else could hear. It was achingly romantic. And Yaz could tell instinctively that this had been a long time coming for both of the women. Had they really been in love since the day they first met? Yaz could definitely see it that way from where she was stood. When Tegan and Nyssa looked at each other, it was like the rest of the universe faded into the background.
The song ended, and the crowd broke into applause. Normally, this would signal time for everyone else to begin dancing.
‘Thank you,’ Tegan exclaimed, turning to face everyone. ‘Before the rest of the dancing starts, I believe that Ace McShane should have finished loading up her stash of fireworks. If everyone would like to follow us onto the balcony…’
Tegan put her arm around Nyssa’s shoulders and the two headed through the crowd towards the balcony, which was pulled open by the waiting staff.
Following the rest of the crowd, Yaz and the Doctor stood nearby the doors of the balcony, looking out over the heads of the guests into the valley beyond. The sun had quickly set and, this being Australia, there had been almost no twilight. The night sky above was dark and almost completely free of light pollution.
Grinning, Ace set off a firework, which rocketed into the sky above before exploding into a bright blue effect. There was a cheer from the crowd, both at the firework and at the fact that Nyssa had taken that moment to grab Tegan by the front of her suit and kiss her again.
Yaz smiled.
‘Y’know something?’
‘Hmmmm?’ The Doctor replied, quietly.
‘You said you’re alone a lot of the time. But… well, look around us. All these people know each other because of you. Tegan and Nyssa would have never met if it hadn’t been for you. All these lives, made so much better because of meeting you.’
The Doctor’s cheeks flushed and they looked down at their hand intertwined with Yaz’s.
‘That makes me sound better than I am.’
Yaz kissed the blonde on the cheek.
‘It’s because it’s true, love.’

some more fashion headcanons for MEverse:
- it isn‘t super common but not rare to see humans wear those lip markings that asari have. they‘re not quite as bold as forehead or cheek markings, yet, they‘re exotic and can be interpreted as a symbol of diplomacy
Tumblr media
- drell like to get their frills and lips pierced and instead of wedding rings they traditionally get frill or lip piercings
- arm cuffs are a typical type of jewelry among drell, and their jewelry tends to be colorful and bright
- because drell skin isn‘t so suitable for tattoos drell tend to wear holographic tattoos
- asari commonly wear thigh and belly chains
- hijabs are highly fashionable among batarians
- some more ‚alternative‘ humans will use a powder on their skin (face or body) that gives kind of a subtle blue sheen, inspired by the asari blue skin obviously
- one of the biggest make up trend is the ‚asari skin glow‘ trend where humans will try to use make up to get skin as luminous as the asari have
Tumblr media
- lipstick isn‘t really worn by most races with lips (krogan, batarians, salarians) and asari tend to get those lip tattoos instead but drell commonly wear lipstick, even males. most popular lipstick colors are colors slightly darker than one‘s skin tone or complementary colors to one‘s skin tone. i.e a green drell wearing dark green lipstick or purple lipstick. lipsticks usually tend to have a frosted or metallic look.
- while the majority of human men still wear what we would nowadays consider men’s fashion and vice versa for the women (women sticking to women’s fashion), the definition of what is considered as such has been getting more blurry. it isn‘t a rarity to see men wearing dresses, gowns, heels and skirts, or to see women wear suits and/or ties.
- while kahje is humid it is very common for drell to wear hats as accessory as a symbol for the world they are from, a desert planet
- drell like to wear a sort of jewelry for their jawline - it is like a hair hoop, only for the jawline
- choker necklaces are also a typical type of drell jewelry - they‘re not uncomfortable due to the fact that drell cannot get choked and they draw attention to one‘s frills which are considered attractive among drell
- waist belts are worn by turians who want to go for a sexy look (as the waist is considered to be a particularly attractive body part among turians)
- asari like to wear crest cuffs, ‚hair hoops‘ (like a headband only it‘s a hoop) and tiaras as jewelry
- salarians have adapted human bowties which has erupted into a trend

Sorry?? How could they fuck up Tyesha and Aamir's wedding like that?
Why is Tyesha being expected to dress according to desi culture, the scene where people are putting her henna on and Aamir's just like where's my shoes? Where's the love?
Compare it to this:
Tumblr media
Do you see? The exchange of cultures? The surprise on their faces? No expectation, two people choosing each other, choosing to appreciate the other's culture and background.
Meanwhile mcu Aamir dancing in his shalwar kameez in a bollywood style dance sequence, like sorry but comic Aamir would never, music is haram you know, shaytaan shaytaan!
Also Nakia wearing it too, i think it would be beautiful if she wore a kaftan i think celebrating other cultures is beautiful. Also she was dancing too and again comic Nakia would never.
Another thing is the complete lack of discussion on anti-black racism. In the show it's Aamir's wedding basically, Tyesha is there as a background character. But in the comic they actually discuss the anti-black racism that's rampant in a lot of non-black muslim communities.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Like Aamir basically has to fight for Tyesha and he's so worried that his family and community won't accept her. (Also the fair and lovely line is so based)
Also like look at what Tyesha is wearing, no make up, no turban, fully covered in a jilbab/chador. Of course that was too much for the mcu no no she needs to show more skin. Clearly desperate for the appproval of white palates.
Also look at this:
Tumblr media
In the show right, you literally dont see her parents which is such a fucking shame. Theyre not characters, theyre just there to clap along. Look here though, they've got their own culture and they're struggling with Tyesha seemingly breaking away from that.
Also Tyesha's brother (unnamed) in the show is a lot younger and wears a thobe in one scene and a shalwar kameez in another. Lmao you wouldn't catch Gabriel dead in one of those. The Hillman's have two kids veering off in very different directions and it just feels so real and normal.
In the end the two families reconcile and Mr. Hillman says: long live the Hillman-Khans and isn't that beautiful. Literally where was any of this.
To end I just want to show this scene from the comics of Tyesha and Nakia debating the meaning of hijab which we will never get in the mcu bc the mcu sucks and can't show anything other than a turban with makeup and is about as deep as a puddle.

I have wanted a needle and thread dress for as long as I can remember and they’re doing a really good sale rn but theres soooo many options and I need a hijab appropriate dress for a mixed wedding but they’re the most expensive !!!! I have nothing to wear for it so I will need a modest dress either way???? so even if I buy a non-hijabi dress for less than £200 I’d need to get another one??? but the one I LOVE is £400+ which is still ridiculous
