particularly with squid game it frustrates me when people are like. "wow they missed the point!" when i don't think that's true at all. first of all the controversy over a squid game reality tv show is going to be huge for the marketing. it's the "all publicity is good publicity" mindset. because it got people talking about it. i'm talking about it, a lot of people on twitter are talking about it - people use controversy as a direct marketing campaign these days, moreso than actual advertisements, which is also really irritating and honestly insulting.

and i feel like squid game really got a shit treatment overall, with the way people used it as clickbait online (mr beast i'm looking at you) and it's really sad to me how horribly twisted the show has become, though it's hardly the only one. with media like that, it's not that people "missed the point," it honestly feels purposefully malicious to me. it reminds me of way back when the hunger games movies were coming out, and the way they were advertised as well. it's not that they "missed the point," it's that they don't care what the point is - or they are actively trying to diminish it. the fact that these corporations can take media like squid game or hunger games, stories that have critical narratives about classism and capitalism and racism and so thoroughly strip them of that is what really depresses me.

again it makes me feel... like what's the point of even making any kind of meaningful narrative when it just feels like the industry's expectation is for it to get snatched up by amazon or netflix and be completely neutered?

i try not to think like that, but it's frustrating. art is so important when it comes to criticizing our society and the harmful institutions that oppress and kill people every single day, and i hate seeing netflix and disney and amazon trying so hard to suppress that.

so. all of that to say. it's hard being a creative right now. but i don't want people reading this as like, a doom spiral- as corny as it sounds keep writing anyways because it's important no matter what. squid game is still a meaningful show, the hunger games books are still there, so despite everything i still think just creating art and supporting each other is the best thing we can do ✌️ peace and love

Still haven’t seen Episode 3, but I did get to rewatch episodes 1 and 2 with my father-in-law. And y’all. He was smiling and happy the entire time. He was so proud that Diego Luna, a Mexican actor, is the lead and the show is actually good. Seeing him so happy and proud of Diego Luna made my heart swell.

As we all know, Two buys into love with full taxes and no need to hand her a receipt. All forms of love is accepted and appreciated by her. Loud or soft, simple or complex, Love is everything to Two.

Including the darker sides of it.

Two doesn't acknowledge this aprt.of her but possessiveness is apart of her. She is QUITE possessive of her loved ones. Which it's THAT part of her love that the flower feeds upon. Her need to be wanted, her need to be loved, her need to hold that love as close.to her as possible with not chance of it being taken away.

This is also why no matter how good of a person Two is deep down, she can overlook so many atrocities for the sake of love. Her sisters? They are exempt from her judgements caus ehse loves them. And same for Cent. (Partially a reason why she never blamed him for the children). Two will overlook any and all crimes and killings (as long as it isn't children) quite easily for the sake of her own love.

Of course it will Two, because you hoard it. Like a predatory gluttonous dragon she hoards love and captures it. Encompasses it and drowns all in it including herself. Of course, she'd blind herself to the darker shades of her loved cause then that'll soul the treasure.

Two is the kindest Intoner, the warmest one. Full of love and strength and arms wide enough to protect so many. But when you enter those arms you're head is close enough to bite off, and your heart is a mere touch away.

It took a stern voice and her ‘If you are intent on protecting me then you first need to take care of yourself’ line before Seth allowed Eirika to clean and redress his wound. With enough determination - of which he had plenty - Seth could do it himself, but not without aggravating the wound more since it was placed so precariously.

Furthermore, she was the reason for his wound. Upon fleeing castle Renais atop Seth’s horse, Valter had pursued the pair, and it was in defending her from him that Seth was injured.

It was also, if she was being honest with herself, a way to be close to him. As a knight, it was his duty to protect her, and while Seth did not treat her any differently he also did not shy away when she touched him nor did he mind her excuses to spend time with him.

“At the next town, we can see about finding someone to look at this.” Eirika finished cleaning the wound, but let her hand stray across his muscled shoulder before she pulled away. With all the fighting they did, it wasn’t uncommon to find his wound re-opened. It worried her.

Eirika turned to grab the bandages, which was all they had on this march, and indicated for him to lift his arm. Obedient to a fault, he did so, and Eirika got to work.

This was the part that brought her close. When she needed to wrap her arms around him to retrieve the bandage and bring it full circle, when his bare arm steadied her against him, when she pulled the bandage firmly across his muscles. It was all done in silence with their eyes catching the other’s every so often, holding for a moment too long, all while cherishing these precious few moments they had alone. Before they had to return to the world outside, to being a princess and her knight.

   Ling  Wen  laid  stretched  out  in  the  shade  by  the  pool  ,  simply  enjoying  the  break  from  work.  It  was  a  ritual  ;  she’d  protest  being  dragged  away  ,  be  dragged  away  ,  and  then  shortly  after  relax  and  enjoy  herself.  Such  was  it  now  as  she  folded  her  arms  behind  her  head  and  allowed  herself  to completely  relax  and  closed  her  eyes.

   Which  was  probably  exactly  how  Pei  Ming  managed  to  sneak  up  on  the  almost  always  alert  goddess.  Her  eyes  flew  open  when  she  felt  herself  suddenly  lifted  out  of  the  chair  and  heard  Pei  Ming’s  laugh  next  to  her  ear.  A  deep  ,  familiar  sound  that  ,  although  it  normally  brought  some  level  of  a  smile  ,  only  seemed  to  spell  trouble in  this  instant.  Her  head  snapped  towards  him.  

   “  Pei  Ming  !  Don’t  -  !  “  But  her  voice  cut  off  after  just  a  few  words.  The  distance  between  the  pool  and  her  chair  wasn’t  far.  Her  words  dissolved  into  a  high  pitched  shriek  as  he  jumped  and  the  water  rushed  towards  them  as  they  fell.  She  managed  a  gulp  of  air  before  disappearing  beneath  the  surface,  flailing  in  a  flurry  of  bubbles  and  shocked  indignation  as  she  broke  the  surface.

   It  was  freezing.  Even  if  it  DID  feel  nice  against  her  warm  skin  that  the  sun  heat  had  been  scorching  ,  she  wasn’t  going  to  just  say  that..  Quickly  she  latched  herself  onto  Pei  Ming  ,  her  arms  wrapping  around  his  neck  to  clutch  on  as  she  gasped  from  the  shock  of  the  water.  He  was  laughing.  Smug  bastard.  She  pushed  a  few  strands  of  now  wet  hair  from  her  eyes  ,  not  letting  go  of  him.

   “  I’m   going  to  kill  you.  “  She  huffs  ,  turning  her  face  away  from  him  as  she  pressed  her  cheek  to  his  shoulder  ,  hiding  the  small  smile  on  her  face.  For  a  few  moments  she  just  lingers  like  that.  Her  arms  remained  around  Pei  Ming  ,  feeling  the  cold  water  chase  away  the  heat  of  the  day.

   And  then  she  promptly  turned  and  tried  to  shove  him  under  the  water’s  surface  with  a  laugh  of  her  own.
