Hi guys!!! Okay so today is the first Hidden Gem Friday!!! I'm super pumped to be able to do this, I think it's gonna be so much fun. WOW Honestly that's my thought with everything Ria writes, but this one is so overlooked!!! It's so short but every word packs an incredibly punch and it's the epitome of quality over quantity. The characterization is perfect, the parallels are so well written. Ah I just love this one

Like, why is Conner Marrigan such a fucking asshole? “Clearly, uh, Marrigan wanted to have a costume no one else would think of.” Eddie chimes in. For once he sounds almost nervous, though Lucas has no idea why. “I figured I’d let you know, considering your allegiance to Harrington and also the general fact that it’s a pretty fucked up thing to do.”

My thoughts:

I love this one so much!!!! It's really well written first of all, and secondly the characterization of Lucas here is so unique!! This is my kind of Lucas, and the thought behind the premise is really interesting. Plus the Jason here is accurate to real Jason and I like that a lot (So many people just make irredeemable monster Jason when like before he went cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs he was just your regular small town jock asshole)

Augh I just love the way you write. Something about it is so flowy, like a river or a silk dress. Anyways this is such a sweet little one shot, I always get so eeeeeee over a first kiss, and this was perfect!!!! I have a v similar idea for a story ending that is taking place soon, so great minds lolol but yes amazing show stopping wonderful etc. etc.

It's so fucking good and I got choked up more than once I loved all the characterizations they felt so in synch. There are some spicy bits in this so fair warning, but there's also dad hopper and Wayne and stobin soulmate moments and just AUGH this is amazing it really honestly Is everyone should go read this and the fact that it only has 886 hits is a fucking travesty. I could easily see this as one of the seminal steddie fics tbh.

I really love this ask, and I have to apologise for taking so bloody long to get to it.

I understand what you mean by ‘better known writers in the fandom’, but I guess even popularity of writers is a pretty subjective thing. Presumably, you mean the likes of Annerb, Northumbrian and Floreatcastellum, and I do love all their stories. I also love the stories from Hinny writers @fightfortherightsofhouseelves, @seriouslysam8, @breaniebree, @thedistantdusk, @secretkeeper13, @stuckwith-harry, @clarensjoy (I’m sure you’re well across most or all of these authors), and no doubt many more that I’ll think of two seconds after I post this. 

Aside from the authors I just mentioned, here are some of my favourite Hinny stories (I know you asked more specifically for authors, and for hidden gems, but I had too much fun going through my bookmarks). Hopefully there’ll be something in this list that you haven’t come across yet :)

These two are WIPs that I love, but they aren't regularly updated. But I'm sharing them in the hope that if they get enough love, perhaps it will help to motivate the writers.

😐😐 don't laugh but 99% of the time i just scroll through the wikipedia list of LGBT shows sorted by years and watch the stuff on there if it sounds good (i pretty much exclusively watch scifi and period dramas (best when it's both but that's so rare💔💔) coz stuff set in modern times with nothing going on bores me to tears), that's how i found avenue 5, carnival row, the nevers, year of the rabbit, and probably a billion other things too (all cancelled!!! all with shitty bisexual main characters!!!!!! they literally want me to die so baddd the nevers and year of the rabbit are easily in my top 10 favourite showssss god) alternatively if i see something trending on tumblr i'll check it out but i usually do a ctrl + f on the lgbt list wiki anyway to see if there's gay people in it because like. if there aren't i just straight up donot care

Caleb's self-loathing is rearing its ugly head and he is spiraling out of control, pushing his friends and chosen family away, isolating himself from those who care about him and attempting to sabotage everything good in his life. Eventually, Essek decides to do something about it. He knows that nothing mundane like talking would be of any help, so he offers Caleb what the human thinks he wants: punishment, atonement, debasement, a way to quiet the vicious voices in his head.

1000 Follower Hidden Gems Fic Rec Idea

Okay so!! Sometime last night I hit a thousand and I MISSED IT (I saw when I had 1005 and now there's 1023 of you and I'm just going to ignore how faint that makes me feel and continue but) ANYWAYS

I thought it would be fine to put together a fic rec list! But I wanted to put together a list of fics that people haven't seen to death a thousand times, because I always find the same two or three fics on every rec list. I thought it would be great to do a little hidden gems thing, because we all have that one fic we think everyone should have read (or those ten fics everyone should read lol)

On Dec 30th I'm going to put the whole thing together, but I would love to have you guys help! Here's the basic parameters for offering a fic for this list

Less than 2k hits on AO3 or less than 200 notes on here (at the time you send it)

Any stranger things fic is fair game. Any ship, any characters

You must include a link to the fic in your ask/reply and if there are any specific TWs (I'm going to put together the actual list in a specific way but this is just for me to protect myself!)

You can 100% rec your own fics, and I encourage you to do so!! I might put one or two of my own hidden gems on there, and I might add my personal reactions too! So send me an ask or reply here with your hidden gems, and I can't wait to see what we all come up with. Also pls reblog this so people can see it!

Just got Crunchyroll (I decided to give them a chance after that HORRID magical girl "anime" they made) and I was wondering if you had any suggestions? (I'm watching "So I'm a spider, so what?" Currently)

I mean technically that magical girl spice wasn't a anime but rather a cartoon (was it high guardian spice? Dunno smhh) - but u h sadly I don't have much suggestions since I rarely watch anime LMAO (Like shid I just finished watching demon slayer yesterday finally smh might pick up the manga tho cause I'm a little bit more of a reader)

#But what I do recommend doing is making a list of animes you potentially want to watch and keep track of episodes and such #Look up the kinds of anime ya wanna see #Typically I like ones that have very little love plot and more action or more comedy- #Unless it's lgbtq+ stuff but those are quite small to find #Sometimes you can find some real hidden gems all ya gotta do is dig for what you like and put em up to try #If ya don't like it ya don't gotta watch its ok to drop a anime or show any time
