even more falling stars (things are getting epic!!!)
falling stars fic masterpost
Shadow knew that it would be pointless to run away. The soldier had already seen them, already knew where they were. All running would do was extend the chase. And Shadow didn’t particularly feel like looking over his shoulder for the rest of the night, wondering when the soldier would catch up. So he dug his heels into the dirt and stood his ground.
The soldier appeared from behind a tree, his eyes set squarely in the sights of his tranquilizer gun. “So, you’re alive after all,” he said. “I didn’t believe it. Thought it was a waste of time, when the commander gave me this assignment. But…” The soldier leveled his gun at Shadow. “…I guess I should’ve expected more from the Ultimate Lifeform.”
Shadow bristled.
“Uh, Stripes? What’s he talking about?”
Narrowing his eyes, Shadow kept his attention on the barrel of the gun. “It doesn’t matter,” he said coolly. But it did. It did matter. This person knew who he was–who he had been before losing his memory. What if this was his only chance to find out about his past?
The soldier suddenly shifted his aim. Now, the gun was pointed at Sonic instead of Shadow. “Another surprise,” he murmured. “But that’s fine. You’re useless without your legs.”
Now it was Sonic’s turn to bristle. “Oh, yeah? And who are you supposed to be, anyway?”
“You’ll find out soon enough.”
Shadow didn’t like the way he said that. He also didn’t like the way the soldier’s foot was shifting slightly, almost like he was reaching for something that was hidden on the forest floor.
Shadow’s eyes widened in realization.
A trap.
The soldier’s foot pressed down on a button, and a net dropped down from the tree behind Sonic and Shadow. Thankfully, Shadow was able to jump out of the way just in time, and the heavy metal net fell to the ground with a clatter. And then the soldier fired his gun. The shot whizzed past Shadow’s ear, but missed, since he’d already started running toward the soldier.
With a pump and a click of his gun, the soldier reloaded and readied another shot, but he didn’t have time to pull the trigger. Shadow was upon him, and he sent a kick flying at the man’s head. It connected, but the helmet he was wearing dampened the blow and he stayed standing. He did, however, drop the gun in shock.
Shadow jumped back. His eyes were fixed on the emblem on the soldier’s helmet. The design was very utilitarian, and didn’t seem all that remarkable at first glance. However, the initials carved into it struck a cord inside Shadow.
G.U.N.
Scowling, Shadow asked, “How did you know where to look?”
The soldier adjusted his helmet. “We didn’t,” was his response. “I’m just the lucky one who got put in the right place.”
Shadow’s scowl transformed into a grin. So, he was alone. That made things easier.
In a flash, Shadow was directly in front of the soldier again. But before he could use the man’s cranium as a kickball, the soldier grabbed something from his belt and drove it into Shadow’s arm. A loose tranquilizer dart? That wasn’t good. Shadow slammed his foot into the soldier’s chest, sending him tumbling back into a tree and knocking some leaves loose from the branches.
Shadow’s legs wobbled, and then buckled as he fell to his knees. But he kept his promise, and he didn’t drop Sonic.
“Stripes?” Sonic said urgently. “Buddy? Hey! What’s wrong?” When he twisted his head around, he found his answer: the empty dart sticking out of Shadow’s arm. Sonic grabbed it and yanked, pulling it out and tossing it to the side in one motion. Then, he turned back toward Shadow, his urgency rising as he watched the hedgehog’s eyelids start to droop. “Come on,” he said, “fight it! A little juice is nothing you can’t handle, right?”
The soldier–who had since gotten up and made his way back over to Sonic and Shadow–nudged the hedgehogs with his boot. “It’s no use,” he said. “That stuff was made specifically for him.”
Sonic smacked the soldier’s boot away from them. “Back off,” he growled. “I don’t know what your deal is, and I don’t care. You’re way outta line!”
The soldier folded his arms across his chest. “You don’t know anything,” he said, unperturbed by Sonic’s glare. “That thing is dangerous. And more importantly, it belongs to us.”
“You’re full of it!”
Shadow’s eyes were totally closed now, and his breathing had evened out. Both he and Sonic were sitting on the ground, but only because Sonic was holding Shadow upright. Sonic was also making a point of positioning himself in between Shadow and the G.U.N. soldier.
“Your allegiance is misplaced, hedgehog,” the soldier said. “We’re not the bad guys.”
But Sonic wasn’t listening. He was watching as the soldier pulled out his phone and turned his back on them, presumably because he thought Sonic was “useless” without both of his legs. Big mistake.
Sonic set Shadow down on the grass, and then took a deep breath.
This was going to hurt. Badly. So, he had to be fast, before he lost his nerve.
Sonic pulled his good leg under him, then pushed it down. Hard. The force of it sent him up into the air, and he grabbed onto the startled soldier’s shoulders with his claws. Then, he used the momentum to flip over the soldier’s head and kicked him in the face as hard as he could.
Instantly, the soldier crumpled under him, and Sonic had to bite his tongue in order to stifle the cry of pain that his broken leg nearly ripped from his throat. The phone that the soldier had been holding also clattered to the ground, and Sonic could hear, distantly, someone on the other end ask what was happening.
Sonic reached over and flipped the phone shut, cutting off their frantic questions.
After that, Sonic dragged himself away from the soldier and back to where Shadow was laying, still out cold from the tranquilizer. Every part of his body screamed at him to stop, to just stay where he was, but he had priorities, and those priorities didn’t include giving up. By the time he was beside Shadow again, his arms were trembling.
He still made it, though. So that should count for something.
Sonic didn’t give himself a second to catch his breath. Instead, he immediately started patting Shadow’s cheeks. “Sorry, Stripes,” he muttered, “but you gotta wake up now, or we’re gonna be in serious trouble…”
There was no doubt in Sonic’s mind that whoever the soldier was working for would be sending reinforcements soon, if they hadn’t already. And while Sonic was confident in his ability to take on one military man with a broken leg, his confidence wavered slightly when it came to a whole army of them.
With a groan, Shadow grabbed Sonic’s wrist. Then, he cracked his eyes open. “Blue…?” He forced himself to sit up even though he still felt woozy from the tranquilizer. His eyes drifted over to the soldier laying in a heap on the ground. “What happened…?”
Sonic smiled, but his eyes were pained. “I’ll tell you later,” he said. “We gotta get movin’. Think you can stand?”
Shadow nodded. His super fast metabolism burned away the last of the tranquilizer by the time he stood up, and so it was with steady hands that he picked up Sonic and returned him to his arms. He noticed the worsened state of Sonic’s already banged up leg, and said, “I’m in your debt.”
But Sonic just waved his hand. “I’m not keeping score,” he said.
Shadow shook his head, but didn’t argue. He would make it up to him by accomplishing what they had set out to do: get to a hospital, and tend to Sonic’s injuries.

"poisoned weapon"
post ep1 of Vox Machina s2
for @crowscroll, bless :)... an accidental epic
-
They had fled, and fled, and fled, ever since the sun rose that morning - and even though Whitestone's walls surrounded them now, Vax's heart had not yet stopped pounding, the taste of ash still bitter in the back of his throat as he breathed in.
Dragons. The dragons had come, not one but seven, the sky blackening beneath their wings, and the fires rising to meet them.
Here in the De Rolo mansion the terror seemed far away, distant; but closing his eyes or letting his thoughts stray for a moment was enough for it to return. He had joined the endless debates on tactics and plans, defense and reprisal, sitting at his sister's side - earlier, and then run away again, here to the quiet of the upstairs library with the books and high windows clean and bright now. But the murmur and stir of voices in the great hall below, the clatter outside of refugees finding their place and lamenting their losses, all of those were reminders as well.
Vax hugged his arms tightly around himself, forcing his eyes to count the carved figures along the ceiling high above, to trace their shadowy lines in hopes of dulling... other things.
The sound of the knob turning, clumsily fumbled, and the door creaking open made him startle at first, then sit up to welcome the intrusion. Percy was there, in the doorway, hand still on the knob as if it were supporting him upright. He'd found a new coat somewhere but not been quite able to put his arms through the sleeves; the tattered, blood-stiff and dirt-stained remains of his shirt were clearly visible beneath. A spiderweb crack in one glasses lens caught the light as he turned.
There was something about the clench of Percy's jaw that made Vax's neck prickle with nervousness, and the quick breaths that jarred his stiff-set shoulders, under the slung coat.
"I think," said Percy, in a low colorless sort of voice, "that I might need to lie down for a bit."
Vax was on his feet in a moment, the banked flame of the day's panic flaring back up in his chest. But Percy's intuition had come a little late, it seemed, because it was only two steps into the room before his knees buckled and he met the ground in a limp tousle of limbs and cloth.
-
The next handful of moments seemed very slow and very fast at the same time: finding the fast thready pulse in Percy's throat, tucking a pillow from the sofa under his head, pulling back the heavy fabric of the borrowed coat to check for any hidden injuries. The half-healed bruising from their dash through the city, the scald marks like sunburn from too-close dragon breath - Percy's skin was feverishly warm, small gasps escaping him at each touch, then a strangled cry when Vax's hand slipped along the back of his right shoulder.
Vax sat him up, carefully as he could, Percy's head lolling back as he lifted him. There - arcing along the back of his arm and shoulder, two marks like claw scores, the skin fresh and fragile from Pike's healing earlier in the day but with vicious streaks of swollen red beneath, veining outwards from the healed marks.
Percy winced at Vax's touch, eyelids flickering behind the heavy lenses of his glasses.
"Shh," murmured Vax, his own voice hoarse in his ears. "Lay down and don't move, will you? I'll get the others."
"I - did say - I needed - to lie down," said Percy, in a small breathless whisper, and bit his lip as Vax settled him down on the floor again. The sharp blush of fever was starting along his cheekbones, and the dirt driven into his hair made the pale locks almost dark against his pallid forehead. "I'm - sorry - for the trouble."
"Look, enough things have happened today that - " Vax started, and broke off, since Percy didn't seem to be listening, and anyway how he would end the sentence he didn't know. That all I want is for us all to be safe, maybe. Ironic, and cruel, when Emon had fallen to its knees before the dragons just that morning. But in the wreck of the world he wanted his own people around him, and was that wicked or wrong?
So he swallowed down the lump in his throat and gathered himself to his feet, sore muscles throbbing.
"I'll be right back," he said to Percy, and fled before the tears in his eyes could show.
-
"Dragon poison," said Pike, in one of the upstairs rooms, half an hour later; Percy tucked securely into bed with Cassandra sitting steely-eyed at the foot, Vex pacing restless in front of the curtained window. "Their teeth - their claws - I didn't see it happen, only the rocks sliding, and the black dragon above. I just healed him up so we could - we could keep running..."
"It's okay, Pickle. You did everything you could." Vax reached out to put a hand on the gnome's shoulder, and she leaned her exhaustion-lined face against it. "Can you heal him again, then?"
Pike chewed her lower lip, the silence stretching long, broken by Percy's quick rough breathing where he curled up beneath the covers.
"Poison - is complicated," she said. "It's his own body reacting to it, and - I don't know how to help. And I've got nothing left for today, I was busy outside, with the other refugees - " Her lips were trembling again, her hand white-knuckled around the symbol of the Everlight.
"Is there anything you can do, then?" said Vex, the first time she'd spoken since they'd brought Percy upstairs to the bedroom. Vax could sense the tension in her shoulders as she paused her pacing for a moment.
"I don't know. I think we should find an herbalist, and try to bring his fever down in the meantime."
Percy coughed, sharply, and Cassandra leaned forward, her face still and taut under the ragged fringe of her growing-out hair.
"That's good for a start," Vex said. She rubbed at her forehead, smearing the remainders of ash and dirt still there. "Keep him comfortable. It sounds like his throat and lungs are swelling too - we'll have to do something about that. It's not an unusual reaction to dragon poisons..."
The matter-of-fact tone of her voice might have fooled the others, but Vax knew better. He wanted to try to reach out and catch her hand, like he was holding Pike's, but she was back to her pacing, the fading pain-lines from her headache earlier still graved in her skin.
Percy mumbled something into the pillow, incoherent, and coughed again, blinking hazy-eyed at his sister sitting next to him and then at the others scattered round the room. His hand fumbled up to his face as if to push up his glasses, though the frames were now folded and placed on the table next to him.
"Shh," said Cassandra, almost too softly to be heard, and brushed her knuckles across the back of his hand. "Shh. You're going to be all right."
There was something so painfully familiar and akin in her voice that Vax glanced quickly over at Vex in reflex, but his twin was too far to reach in that moment. So he settled for patting Pike's arm again as she sniffled quietly into her shirt collar, the exhaustion of the day telling on her as on the rest of them.
In the bed, Percy grasped at Cass's hand, blindly, and held on.
-
The hours went by, noon turning to golden afternoon, sunrays striking brilliant through the crack in the curtains. Percy's fever climbed as time passed, his breathing dampening, cough rough with effort. Now and again he woke a little, his eyes finding their faces around him, mumbling half-heard words before slipping back into his drowse.
Keyleth's gentle singing seemed to help soothe him a bit, whether through magic or other means; Scanlan dropped by for a little while, scowling and fidgeting with his lute in grim worry; Grog shadowed Pike for a while, doing his best to cheer the frown off her face. Vex and Pike didn't leave, except for a brief trip to get herbs and supplies; and so neither did Vax, and of course neither did Cassandra, her intent face both haunted and haunting alike.
In the end, Pike fell asleep, face-first on the bedcover next to Percy's hand. Vax put an extra blanket over her, although all the pillows had gone to prop Percy up in bed, trying to ease his breathing against the tightness of his throat and lungs.
Cassandra looked up, then, her pale blue eyes blank and wide.
"Miss Vex'ahlia."
Vex hadn't stopped pacing for a while, but she stopped then.
"You know about - things about dragons, and what they do, don't you?"
"Yes. I do." Vex's knuckles whitened at her sides.
"So - will he - " Cassandra stopped, swallowing hard, her throat lurching.
Vex didn't answer; instead, she sat down on the edge of Percy's bed, reaching out to brush back the strands of sweat-matted hair from his forehead. His eyelids flickered faintly, and he turned his face into the curve of her palm, his slow sigh turning into a cough midway through.
"There, there, darling," Vex murmured, and reached for the cup at the bedside to bring to his lips. "Slowly, don't choke on it. We've got time."
That was a lie, while the Chroma Conclave still swept the skies above Emon. But there was no sense saying anything different, here in their endless moment of waiting. How funny it was that the whole world could stop for you, when one of your own's lives was in the balance, even as every other tragedy continued... Vax bit his lips, watching the raw ache in Cassandra's eyes.
Percy opened his eyes a little, then, between sips from the cup, and one side of his mouth twitched in something like a smile.
Cassandra didn't say anything else. Only sat there, fiddling with the tie on her tunic, the scar silvery across her throat in the afternoon light.
Pike was asleep, snoring softly, so Vax tried patting Cassandra's hand instead; he expected her to pull away, but she didn't. And maybe it was a little easier, waiting together.
-
Waiting, as the dusk came on, and Percy's wheezing breaths started to ease again, though he still grimaced and winced at each cough; waiting, as the firelight from each house and makeshift dwelling in Whitestone picked warmth out of the gathering dark; waiting, Cassandra whispering alternate threats and reassurances to her brother as she wiped the sweat from his forehead, Vex asleep in the chair and Vax propping up her head with a rolled-up cloak to keep her neck from getting sore.
Grog came and carried off Pike eventually, whose nap had turned into a proper sleep before long. Scanlan brought them food from the kitchen and wished some colorful imprecations on dragons all and sundry, accompanied by his lute; Percy might have smiled again at that, though it was hard to tell for sure.
Vax had tried to stay awake, he'd tried; but his exhausted body eventually took over, though the tangled mess of nightmares waited for him beyond. He woke a little past midnight in a startle and cracked his head on the bedpost, jerking upright. But his outstretched hand then found Percy's, limp on the sheets, sweat-damp and cool once again, and that brought him properly back to consciousness along with his sore head.
"What - happened?" Percy's voice, slow and hoarse, but without the colorless dazed note from that morning that had frightened him so.
Vax squeezed his hand.
"You had a brush with some dragon poison, that's all. Go back to sleep."
"But - we can't. We have to - the dragons - the city - " Percy tried to straighten up against the pillows, wincing and shivering at the effort, face pale in the candlelight.
"It's the middle of the night, you idiot," Vax hissed. "Go back to sleep, I said."
"You - are a funny one - to tell people to sleep," mumbled Percy, but stayed put nonetheless.
"We'll figure it out in the morning," said Vax, with a confidence he did not feel, but perhaps Percy was still too weak to adequately recognize deception. "And - don't scare us like that again, all right?"
Percy had his eyes closed again by then, a hopeful sign. "Try not to," he said.
How funny it was, Vax thought - that even when the world was falling apart, it could still feel so solid, here in the candlelight with his sister asleep in the chair half a reach away, and his friends safe and alive beneath one roof. How funny, how unfair, and how beautiful, too...
And he let his own eyelids fall closed again too, until morning, and the new battles to come.

your soul design is so yumilicious I need all the details now on my dinner plate
fr tho I want to know all the soul design lore how did you create such a creature /vpos
OKOKOHHHHHHOKOK BUCKLE IN. YOU’RE GONNA GET THE FULL DESIGN PROCESS
I struggled the most with Soul ngl. I couldn’t really think of anything I could add that would differentiate him from the fanon standard. I’m a lil upset I couldn’t think of something more original, but nonetheless he turned out quite lovely !!!
Tumblr media
I started with the color picking. I was very insistent on making everyone’s colors proportional to eachother. The main colors should have (about) the same saturation/brightness, contrasting colors that are the exact opposite hue of the main color, respective black/grey/white values (soul’s ‘grey’ color is more teal bc color theory but yea), shit like that i guess. The final palette is on the right, it’s what I use today.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Soul never got fully fleshed out concept sheets like the other two. I guess my brain just filled in the rest of the gaps without having to draw them. (I apologize for never finishing these btw. It’s been months man. I hope the blorbo doodles in the corner make up for it) The second image was done a lot later than the first btw. Idk if that matters but I’m bringing it up anyway.
His fit inspo came mostly from Pinterest. I just compiled a bunch of shit I think he’d wear. Plus a majestic cape because it makes him look plenty more epic.
OK MOVING ON. I decided that his main gimmick would be my take on his shaded side. The idea was to make it represent dissonance, and how it affects Soul. The shadow is basically just this fuckin void. It has no physical form, and you can just stick your hand in there if you’d like (he sometimes stores the trident there). However I wouldn’t recommend it. The feeling is indescribable, but very uncomfortable. The void has a life of it’s own in a way. It does not stay confined within the Soul’s physical form (or in my case, his lineart). When conflict is at a high, like, tridential regicide level high, the void will get very close to fully overtaking him. It only fully disappears once true concord is reached, and starts reforming when the next cycle starts.
Also, the mask !!!!! Throughout cacophony, Soul is having a huge fucking identity crisis and shit. He doesn’t really have a physical organ like the other two. He doesn’t know why he’s here, or what he did to deserve this, or why nothing he’s trying works, and just. What is he if he’s failing at his main purpose???? I think because of this, he doesn’t like showing his face around the other two. He needs to assert is power, and thinks that showing his face will make him come of softer and less of someone to obey, if that makes sense. He only really takes it off when he’s alone in his room or pocket dimension (still trying to decide if they have a mock ‘apartment’, or ever did at one point). But once he has the character arc in Two Wuv, it permanently comes off !!! Wahoo!!!!!!! If only the next cycle weren’t to start, resetting his newfound self image to its previous state !!!!!!!!!!
Ok this is getting long im putting a read more thing
Tumblr media
This image was very helpful for designing the tine shapes!! Guess which one is Soul’s !!!!!! (Spoiler alert, im pretty sure its either the 2nd or 6th ones in the 2nd row. However i genuinely dont remember. This may not even be the right image)
Soul also has a strange tie with eyes. If the halves have pissed him off to the point of no return, he does this fuckin analog horror stare that freaks the shit out of them (although heart cant see he remembers it very well. Plus, he just k n o w s that extra eye is there). I haven’t really played around with this, but I like the idea of a freakishly absurd amount of eyes hidden within the shadow. I should maybe like. Draw that sometime.
Also, expect a Soil patch update in the future!! I’d like to make his fangs more deranged, and maybe add an earth pattern to the cape. Right now, he has no symbols on him that represent him in the astronomy metaphor.
Uhhhh i hoped this helped??? If i missed anything you were hoping to know about, do let me know !!!!!!!

Survival of the Species by @romaine2424
Harry/Draco (2011, Explicit, 47k)
Draco approaches Harry on the 9 ¾ platform, after their sons have boarded the Hogwarts Express, and invites him over for tea. The discussion they have leads them on an adventure that neither could have expected. There be dragons! HPDH compliant but before any other canon info had been released. Minor Albus/Scorpius, minor Harry/Ginny. Cw for infidelity and a dubcon sex scene (both happen in a specific context, be warned though)
“Ever since you told me of the custom, I knew this would happen. The night I found you frozen outside, I knew I didn’t ever want to lose you. It’s been slowly building to this point everyday as I’ve watched you.”
Happy happy birthday darling Rom! I initially thought about making a list then I remembered that I did a Hidden Gems post already 😅 the next best thing was reccing one of my all-time favorites of yours, and this is such a belated rec! I read this fic right after immersing myself in the gorgeous, comforting world of Garden of Eden, and despite the similarities (older Drarry with kids and adult plots, love it!) the change of pace and atmosphere was so intense it felt like diving into a completely different world, one of fabulous mythical beings and impossible life decisions.
Dare I say this is my favorite Veela fic?? Maybe so! I’ve never been particularly into creature fic in general - something about its inherent dub con aspect (which you’ll see cleverly depicted here) makes it tricky for me, and I’m rarely able to stay engaged with long, plotty fics exploring this trope. Colour me surprised when Rom’s rich, well-researched and fascinating creature lore slapped me in the face with thoughts and feelings; sure enough I found myself deeply mesmerized by this carefully crafted world-building. The rituals, the family tree, the rules surrounding the biological/reproductive aspect! There’s so much behind it, so many vivid cool visuals and I distinctly remember my face going 🫢🤯😱 during this read. And the pacing is so smooth you don’t even realize things are rapidly getting very angsty and very complicated. Such incredible storytelling power!
I wanna be careful about this rec because I feel like giving too much away might spoil the fun. As the title suggests, this is a story that pushes both characters beyond their limits by putting them in an impossible situation. It’s a bit (a lot?) heartbreaking, but that’s also why so many decisions taken in that excepcional scenario, far removed from reality and normal conditions of temperature and pressure conditions, work. A particular context creates this vital connection of understanding and sympathy between us the readers and the characters, one the story might not have worked without. That’s such a delicate feat, and it blew my mind how Rom effortlessly achieved it. It goes beyond a fascinating lore and compelling plot points - in my opinion, it depends heavily on characterization and emotional resonance too, which this fic delivers in spades.
This fic really feels like an ode to both Veela and dragon lore, and the way it wraps everything together with a bold and fresh twist leaves me both excited and nostalgic for that feeling of “old creature classics”. Harry and Draco’s predicament getting stuck together away from civilization for so many years brings so many implications and complications, and Rom does not shy away from it. It’s painful and miserable and it shows human resilience in different ways than we’d have expected, and it ends up being really immersive and thought-provoking. I for one stayed engaged at all times, and really enjoyed the tender and comforting family feels we get in the second part. Buckle up and get ready for a 50k fic that covers so much time, character development and human complexity it feels more like a 200k epic. Treat yourself to an incredible journey with archaeologist!Draco as a bonus, and don’t forget to give Rom love and appreciation for writing such a clever story back in 2011!
I’m so so grateful that you’re back in the HP fandom and sharing your work with us again, my friend. You’re a fantastic storyteller and I’m very excited to see what comes next. Happy birthday!! 💜

Part of The Jeff Fictional Universe
[Jeff gets Instagram - Part 3]  [ Part 1 -> Part-time Avenger] [Part 2 -> Full-time Land Shark]
—————————————————
Tumblr media
—————————————————
“This is going to be epic Jeff, trust me”. You smiled, looking up over the worktable to where the land shark sat patiently on the floor.
He approved with a ‘mrrr’ and approached when you picked up the mechanism, letting you strap it onto his back. He tried to watch as best he could while you secured it, tilting his head at funny angles, to the point where you eventually had to stop him with a laugh, telling him to sit still.
Once he stopped squirming it actually only took a few seconds to buckle it up. Which were a few too many seconds for Jeff to have to sit still; he was bouncing with energy, sprinting outside to the pool as soon as he was released.
A small tilt of his head backwards checked that you were ready to record before he dove into the pool, circling it happily.
“What is that!?” you fake exclaimed. That was Jeff’s cue to leap out of the water, firing a beam directly into the air.
“A shark! With frickin’ laser beams!”
These were the things you and Jeff got up to when Natasha left you home alone. She’d left for a month-long mission in Italy, doing simple reconnaissance work, whilst you were tasked with staying in New York to work at the compound. Since it wasn’t too high stakes, Natasha was allowed to call whenever she had the time. And she did, resulting in almost nightly long-distance movie nights to make it feel like you weren’t so far apart. They helped to reassure Jeff too, as on the nights where Natasha couldn’t call, Jeff would spend the night whining, and usually end up curled up tightly on her side of the bed.
One such movie night had led to you all watching Austin Powers since, despite your girlfriend’s spy status and love of James Bond, she had never seen it. She also didn’t see the look you and Jeff shared at the mere mention of a shark, completely oblivious to how much was hidden when she wasn’t physically present.
By the next day you were already in the workshop, immediately designing and building a laser beam contraption to fit onto Jeff. You let him help out, so it was more of a bonding activity than anything.
You recorded Jeff splashing around for another few minutes, then he propelled himself back towards you and clambered out. He sent a charming grin to the camera, his tongue hanging lopsidedly out of his mouth as he beamed. Then, once you finished filming, he came and climbed onto your lap to watch it back.
He looked up at you and nodded his approval, before sprinting off and returning with his phone a minute later. The phone had been adjusted slightly by you and Tony, but it still had difficulty registering his land shark hands, especially when he had just been in the water. Jeff never appreciated your comments on his struggles to unlock his phone, never accepting help; he took after Nat in that regard. So for this, you stayed silent, smiling only when you caught sight of yourself as Jeff’s lock screen. Natasha had taken the picture a few days after Jeff had been rescued; you were smiling up at her, while Jeff slept on top of you for the first time.
“Hey Jeff, say cheese” you decided suddenly. He jolted his head up, baring his teeth back into a smile as he ‘mrrr’d.
“Thanks buddy.” Your lock screen had been Natasha for almost as long as you’d been dating, but if Jeff had you, then it was only fair that you should have him. Though you did wonder if Natasha also had you as her lock screen, she certainly had when you first got together, but that had been years ago, you hadn’t checked whether she’d changed it since.
Either way, the thought quickly slipped from your mind when Jeff pushed his phone into your lap, Instagram now opened. “You want to post the video?”
If Natasha found out that you had given Jeff lasers while she was away, the both of you would certainly be in trouble. But Jeff’s eyes were pleading, and with the eagerness of his nod, you couldn’t deny him. Plus Natasha wasn’t technically supposed to be on any social media until she got back, her own account framed to make it look like she was still at home. So there was no chance she would scroll through a month’s worth of posts to find it, not when all the Avengers posted several times a day. With a hum, you sent the video over to Jeff. You uploaded it for him, but handed it back to let him caption it himself; ‘mrrr!’… as usual.
You called Natasha daily for the rest of her mission and she never brought it up. You weren’t necessarily in the clear, she was a spy after all, but the attention the video garnered lessened every day, and it was practically gone from Instagram by the time she returned.
She had about enough time to clean up and get changed after her month away before Jeff approached you both, a DVD case in his mouth. You met Natasha’s eyes from across the room and both broke into a smile, you’d missed her presence and her live reactions to Jeff’s antics. Since neither of you gave Jeff direct attention, he took matters into his own hands, huffing and choosing to present his film choice to Natasha. He trotted over and let her crouch down and take it from him.
Her eyes flit back up to you once she saw the film choice, holding up the cover so you could see.
“Jaws? I’m not sure that’s appropriate, Jeff” she said, but he insisted.
“It’s a bit violent”
Natasha’s warnings meant nothing to Jeff, he was too enthralled that a film would have a shark on the cover. He pleaded with her, until eventually you both relented. Nobody could resist his demands for long.
—————————————————
Jeff wished he’d listened to Natasha by the end of it, to say the least.
There were tears, there were screams, and you decided that you really should have put more effort into stopping Jeff watching the movie. As soon as the credits began, he walked out in silence, a worrying change from the near constant whimpers of the past 2 hours. He left you and Natasha unsure of which steps to take, whether he wanted to be alone of whether he would need comfort.
Three rounds of rock, paper, scissors later and it was you knocking on your own bedroom door, Jeff having shut it on his way in. He replied, giving you permission to come in, though the sight once you did was certainly not what you had been expecting. Rather than a repeat of the Yelena incident, there was no whimpering or crying. Instead, he’d made himself comfortable on the bed, furiously typing into his phone. He barely even looked up at your entry.
“What, uh, what’re you doing Jeff? How are you doing?”
“Mrrr”
“Yeah, I can see you’re writing, but what?”
He tilted his screen towards you, showing you what he’d written so far. It was at this point that you remembered Jeff had never actually been taught to read or write, and the majority of the words were a mess of letters in the wrong places. Every e also seemed to have been replaced by a 3 for some reason. You really should teach him the alphabet someday.
“Mrrr?” he asked, looking for your approval
“It looks really good Jeff!” you bluffed, “how about you recite it to me though and I’ll type it up, we’ll get it done faster that way.”
Again, he wasn’t one to willingly accept help, but this seemed to be something he was passionate about, so anything to make it better he would accept. He nodded and waited for you to get your laptop ready before working with you to create a speech against the portrayal of sharks in the media. You threw in suggestions here and there, helping him find the best words, but the final draft was still very much Jeff’s stance. He tried to read the edit, but eventually had to concede that he couldn’t read and asked you to narrate it for him.
At his approval, you slid the phone back to him, giving him the satisfaction of hitting the post button.
But for once he asked for your help in typing a caption, reciting a further comment on his distaste of how the shark was treated in Jaws, and how unlikely it was for a shark to act like the one in the film.
He looked up at you after the upload, smiling. “You happy with it? Because I am, I’m proud of you Jeff.”
“Mrrr”
“Yeah we won’t watch it again”. You still felt bad for letting him watch Jaws, but if it was the catalyst for his work educating the public on sharks, you had to respect the trajectory. “Now come on bud, Nat’s probably worried about us. We can all go out and get you gummy sharks for your good work.
—————————————————
That moment set Jeff on a far greater path than you’d realised. Of course his post gained traction, as all of them do, which brought a lot of attention towards the unfair representation of sharks.
You were curled up on the sofa with Nat a day after it was posted, your head resting on her shoulder, half-heartedly watching the David Attenborough documentary the assassin had put on. She’d asked to watch something that could just be in the background to let you spend some time just talking to each other again. You were both on your phones, so that plan hadn’t gone well, but you were still able to relax and appreciate having her familiar presence back in the house.
Taking your eyes off of the screen, you tilted your head to look up at her, catching sight of her phone as you went. “Aww, you do have me as your lock screen!”. The words came out before you even thought about it.
“Yeah, of course I-, wait, do you not have me?”
“Uhhh”
“Y/N, what’s your lock screen?”
Jeff had been napping on his shark bed in the corner, but he looked up at Natasha’s dangerously low tone. His eyes met yours next, displaying smugness as soon as he realised what was happening. When he turned his head you followed the path of his gaze, landing directly on your phone, the one you had left on the other side of the room and had been too comfortable to retrieve.
He locked eyes with you again, understanding your silent pleas for him not to do what you knew he was ready to do. Not that he listened to you. Withing a millisecond he was out of bed, snatching your phone before you could even spring up and parading it around you. He strolled leisurely to Natasha, sprinting and jumping only to avoid your blockade attempts.
With a proud hum, he dropped the phone onto Natasha’s lap, looking back at you now stood on the other side of the sofa due to his dodging. Natasha looked up at you too, a raised eyebrow asking for your permission to look; you nodded.
“You replaced me with Jeff?”
The land shark looked between you smugly, clearly proud that he was there instead of Nat. You would happily switch it back at this point.
“What is he wearing? Are those Tony’s lasers?”
“Um-”
Jeff nodded and Nat turned on you. “It was Jeff’s idea!”
“MRRR!” he huffed indignantly, pointing back at you.
“What? no, you chose to make the video”
“Mrrr.”
“There’s a video?”
“On Jeff’s Instagram” you told Natasha quickly, before going back to arguing with the shark.
“Jeff, what is this?” she questioned after a second. You cringed in anticipation for the reaction, but a ‘mrrr’ from Jeff made you turn your head.
Natasha held up a new post from Jeff, one you hadn’t seen yet, that he had posted in collaboration with the Discovery Instagram account. “Uh, that reply didn’t even mean anything,” you translated for your girlfriend, “he literally just said ‘mrrr’.”
He began to explain after a bit more prompting, fetching his phone and handing it to you, displaying an open conversation with the Discovery Instagram account.
“Mrrr”
“He says he meant to tell us but he forgot”
You and Natasha exchanged a look again, before focusing on what Jeff was showing you.
‘Hi Jeff,’ the message read, ‘we love your account and all the attention you bring to sharks. In advance of shark week, would you be interested in recording a special episode and promoting it on Instagram? It would be really beneficial in raising awareness that sharks are not the danger that the media portrays them as.’
Natasha finished reading it faster than you, and her eyes shone with pride when she looked up. “You got yourself a TV contract Jeff?”
“Mrrr!”
“And you’ve already said you’re doing it?”
“Mrrr”. He nodded again
—————————————————
And that was how you ended up where you were now. In a conference room with the Discovery channel marketing team, acting as a seat and translator for the little suit-wearing land shark on your lap (he’d wanted to make a good first impression). Sure you were a famous Avenger in your own right, but Jeff was the main star in this building.
You helped them and Jeff come to a decision on what Jeff would be doing and the logistics of the whole situation. A team of writers had already gathered facts and figures to support the case for sharks, asking Jeff to read it out and then they would subtitle over it.
“Mrrr.” He insisted on this case that you would also be there to the side, translating his speech in real time to ensure he could edit the script slightly and still have his words translated exactly. You beamed as you narrated it back to the team, happy to know he trusted you to make his case. They agreed happily.
In addition to just presenting, Jeff was also asked to star in the series, having a shark who understood English made it easy for them to gather authentic clips of sharks swimming in their natural habitat.
Overall, the talks went smoothly, the team practically agreeing to Jeff’s (admittedly few) requests instantly, and you were returning home to Natasha in no time. You still hadn’t had time to talk about your laser shark activities, and since she stayed up and followed you after Jeff had gone to bed, you knew she wanted to discuss it. You braced yourself for a lecture, probably some things about ‘endangering your son’, or ‘setting a bad example’, but instead you got neither.
“I’m not mad about the laser shark” she clarified instantly, going through her nightly routine as you went through yours.
“You’re not?”
“No. I watched the video and it was funny, and I can’t say I didn’t have the same thought when we watched the movie”
“You DID?!”
She snickered slightly at your reaction, throwing the pyjamas you were looking for across the room before continuing. “My main concern is that you decided to replace me, your girlfriend, with a shark”
“He’s a land shark” you corrected
Natasha took a deep breath, imitating annoyance, but the corners of her mouth tipped up; her way of letting you know she didn’t mean it. You were ready for bed at this point, and she slipped in right beside you.
“I’m just saying, you replaced me with a land shark, when you could have used a photo of both of us”
Your mouth opened, ready to state your own defence, of which you had none. “Come with us to set tomorrow, I’m sure Jeff would love your support and then I can get a good photo of the two of you. I’ll set it as my lock screen, promise.”
The two of you were facing each other in bed, and she seemed to contemplate it for a while, before breaking into a soft laugh. “Jeff already asked me earlier” she clarified, “I’ll be there”.
—————————————————
The set up was on the beach, beginning with Jeff’s mini lectures, then moving onto getting footage of Jeff swimming in the sea.
While you went over the final technicalities with the director, Jeff got to work drawing on the blackboard that had been set up, aided by Natasha lifting him where he needed to be to draw. By the looks of things, you would have to get one for the house, the land shark fascinated by the chalk and taking great amusement from his drawings. Natasha was smiling too, watching what he did. You took a photo of them in that moment, the first of many that day.
When filming began, Jeff looked into the camera with confidence, his drawings from earlier still on the board. He grabbed a pointer and aimed it at the shark; he’d drawn a Great White, and put a smiley face on it to really make his point. He happily explained the role of sharks to the ecosystem; how necessary they were for the marine food chain to be maintained, and how few people sharks killed compared to the number of sharks that were killed. Meanwhile you stood to the side, translating his ‘mrrr’s for the general audience.
Then he moved on to the dolphins. They did not receive such a glowing review; made especially obvious by the fact he had drawn little devil horns and an angry face on his diagram. You kept translating, reciting the facts he was spewing about how dolphins attacked sharks, often using their snouts to ram sharks’ gills in attempts to injure or kill Jeff’s brethren.
Finally, he spun the board around, revealing a stick figure drawing of a person. Jeff made the point that, as much as he loved living among people, humans were the greatest predators to sharks and dolphins alike, and even he got negative reactions every time he went swimming in public. The filming on the beach was solely to illustrate that point, and it was the next step in the documentary. Jeff dove into the waves, splashing about in the shallows with Natasha. She had volunteered to swim with the land shark, just to make sure nobody would try to attack him, just in case. You took another photo then, Natasha in a swimsuit, smiling widely at Jeff, whilst the land shark leapt up playfully, aiming to douse her in as much salty water as he could manage. There was no competition, that was the one for your lock screen.
At last, they focused, the camera crew getting into place both on the beach and in the water, and Jeff swam deeper, until just his fin was visible. He made his way to the more crowded area of the beach, and screams began as soon as he was spotted, anyone in the sea hurriedly evacuated, taking shelter on the beach. That was until Jeff re-emerged from the water and everyone saw who it was. The mood changed in an instant, rather than running from him, crowds formed to run towards him, taking photos and petting the willing celebrity. It was exactly the footage needed for the documentary, so once the crowds had died down and each civilian caught on camera had agreed to either be shown on the film or have their face blurred, Jeff was done, and you and Nat could take your leave.
Rather than go home immediately, Natasha had planned a surprise for Jeff. Jeff was a unique animal, but with his passion for defending sharks, you wondered whether he was missing out on opportunities to socialise with his fellow sharks by living with you, so the three of you took a boat out, going just off the coast, to where a Smooth Dogfish shark had recently been spotted. As luck would have it, you managed to spot it, pointing it out to Jeff.
He jumped into the ocean immediately, you and Nat just about able to see his form retreating towards the animal. The two were motionless for a second, then both sprang to life, spinning and weaving and chasing each other around the depths below the boat, just like dogs in a park.
It kept Jeff entertained for an hour, you and Natasha using the time to catch up, just lying together in the boat until it was time to go home.
Jeff deflated when you called him back up, having to say goodbye to his newfound friend. So you promised he could come back the next week, not only to make him feel better, but it was nice to see him so happy and able to play with a similar species. He babbled excitedly about the shark to you and to Instagram all the way back home, only stopping when he spotted a package by your front door.
He rushed ahead as soon as the car door opened, nudging and sniffing the package, then gently opening his jaw and grabbing the whole box. You chuckled, helping him by unlocking the door, and he proudly carried the delivery inside, depositing it on the coffee table.
“Who’s it for, Jeff?” Natasha asked, and the land shark studied the label very carefully, concluding with a ‘mrrr’
“He can’t read” you translated, going to inspect it yourself, and seeing Jeff’s name on the label. “But it’s yours, buddy, go ahead and open it”
He used his teeth like a knife, slicing through the tape so that the box could flap open, then he buried his head inside, pulling out a small bronze coloured triangular prism.
Jeff ‘mrrr’d proudly at you and Natasha, drawing your attention to what he held, a small name plaque : ‘Jeff – Shark Ambassador’

Bazaar - Hiding from Daipai
I dearly love each and every Bazaar photo shoot fig set I have - there is no limit to the number I would buy! So imagine my delight when a clever fig maker decided to immortalize this (technically) off-camera moment!
The inspiration comes from a video taken by a very enterprising daipai. A daipai, if you're not familiar with the term - and I wasn't either, until this fandom - is basically paparazzi for hire. They will follow celebrities to get pictures of them to sell, and also will sell their picture-taking services to fan sites.
Here, they were sneaking shots of Zhang Zhehan and Gong Jun. Gong Jun is famously eagle eyed for catching daipai and fan photographers, wherever they are hidden, but this time Zhehan spots the photographer first, since he is facing towards them. Gong Jun is posing for the camera in the exact opposite direction.
This fades out at the end, but I've seen a longer version of this at one point too. Junjun wasn't very happy with this daipai - he looked away very pointedly. It's not easy being a celebrity, no matter what anyone says!
Tumblr media
I wasn't sure if the balcony railing would be sent in a different box or how they would do that, but it was sized to fit in one of the boxes.
Tumblr media
Here they are! Zhehan's fan isn't removable - it came that way. Neither is Junjun's, for that matter.
Tumblr media
Paparazzi certainly aren't loved for the way they invade people's privacy, so the truly epic frown on Junjun's face is fantastic. You know I like smiling figs, but this is just so perfect here. I love it!
Tumblr media
I love, love, love the blue streak in Zhehan's hair. His whole Bazaar hair style, for that matter. And Zhehan did too, given that he set a picture from the shoot as his Instagram pic. I also love the moon symbol on Junjun's shirt, which echos the complementary star on Zhehan's. You can't see the star yet, but you will as we rotate around!
Tumblr media
Neither of them would stand on their own at all. I got a bunch of figs in this ocean shipment, and I swear a good half of them don't stand! The fig standees are pretty essential, really.
Tumblr media
Ahaha, it's been a while, but you can see we are back to the typical Zhehan and Gong Jun fig proportions. Zhehan curvy, Junjun slim.
Tumblr media
Love Zhehan's gold studded belt here!
Tumblr media
Zhehan's hair is really my favorite in this style.
Tumblr media
Look at it, the ponytail is so cute!
Tumblr media
There's Zhehan's star on his chest! It's a little hard to see, but it's there.
The choice to put Junjun in fingerless gloves was masterful. I know they're a bit hard to see in the video, but there's these big chunky buckles at the wrist which are very cool. Junjun's hands are very elegant in the black leather - very long and beautiful, and the heavy buckles both highlight and complement how they look.
Tumblr media
And we're back around, this time with the railing! Junjun sure looks a little like he's contemplating smacking someone in the head with the fan, doesn't he?
As you can see here, the fig stands fit perfectly underneath it with no problem at all. Looks a little silly, but there's nothing to be done at all about it, since they won't stand up otherwise.
Well. I mean, I know exactly what I'm going to do about it, which is to order a long and thin single standee, and stick them both to it, and have it slightly more hidden behind the rail.
Tumblr media
Junjun makes me laugh - his pose with the fan really does look like he's thinking some thoughts!
Tumblr media
Every angle of that ponytail is adorable!
Tumblr media
As you saw from the earlier unboxing photo, the set came with a bonus add-on of a magnet. My file cabinet is half full on one side now from all my magnets!
Tumblr media
The delightful matching artwork on the boxes. I get plain white boxes so much with the resin figs that it's always nice to get the PVC ones for the fancier boxes!
Material: PVC
Fig Count: 431
Scene Count: 29 (I don't think a balcony rail counts)
Rating: Two fans are better than one!

SWTOR CAMPAIGN UPDATE + NEWS
So, you know how life is like planning a surprise party but then the universe decides to throw you a curveball? Yeah, that's been my experience with the SWTOR campaign we were all hyped about. Planning issues, scheduling mishaps, last minute cancellations and a few too many droids thinking they're stand-up comedians - it's been a galaxy-sized mess.
Tumblr media
But fear not, intrepid space travelers, for I come bearing news that's as exciting as finding a hidden questline on Korriban! 🚀
In the meantime, while the Star Wars saga takes a temporary siesta in the Outer Rim, we're grabbing our swords, staffs, and tankards of virtual mead for a wild ride through a land where The Witcher, Dragon Age Inquisition, Baldur's Gate, and Skyrim collide like a chaotic tavern brawl where everyone's a protagonist.
Imagine Geralt joining forces with the Dragonborn, navigating political intrigue in Baldur's Gate, and finding a chill spot in Skyrim for some sweetrolls. It's like a crossover episode of your favorite TV shows, but with more dragons and less commercial breaks.
So, why this sudden fantasy detour? Because why settle for lightsabers when you can have magical swords? Why ponder the Force when you can dive headfirst into a pit of magical mishaps and medieval mayhem?
In this campaign, our heroes won't be wielding blasters but will instead navigate the twisty plots of Ferelden, dance with dragons in Tamriel, and maybe accidentally join a Thieves' Guild because it looked like a good idea at the time.
So buckle up, fellow adventurers! This is a journey where you can expect more plot twists than a soap opera in Sovngarde, and where the only rule is: if it's not fun, you're probably doing it wrong.
If you're interested, drop a comment below with your favorite fantasy emoji and a reply. 🧙‍♀️🏹⚔️ Let us know if you're up for the challenge of a multiverse fiesta! Whether you're a seasoned adventurer or a newbie with a passion for fantastical chaos, all are welcome. Tag your friends who you think would rock in a party of rogues, mages, warriors, and all the fantasy classes in between. The more, the merrier! Let's create a party worthy of legend!
Tumblr media
Get your gear ready, sharpen your swords, and brace yourself for a journey through the Realms of Convergence. Adventure awaits, and it's time to answer the call! Stay tuned for tales of epic quests, unexpected alliances, and more magic than you can shake a staff at. And don't worry, the SWTOR campaign will return from its spa day in the Outer Rim soon !

WNGTI Chapter 9 Sneak Peek
Literally just wrote this so it is mostly unedited but
--------------------------------------
The remainder of the plan was fairly straightforward.
Use one of the three gates to sneak into the Upside-down, cross their fingers they didn’t run into trouble along the way to Eddie’s trailer as he had insisted that he get a repeat performance of the epic metal concert in literal Hell or nobody was going to hear the end of it; then the girls would continue on to the Creel house while the guys all remained behind to prepare for distraction take two, and hopefully no one had to die this time to accomplish their goal of stopping Vecna for good.  Easy peasy.
There may have been a bit more to it—at least, he was pretty certain someone mentioned something about the why’s and how’s of El’s exact method for murdering the son-of-a-bitch for real this time—but what that entailed outside of ‘keep Eddie safe or die trying’ really didn’t register in his brain.
Honestly, it was no wonder to him that it took reliving the full eight months of torture to give the girl an answer to her question.  Steve had an attention span the size of a literal gnat on all things he deemed unimportant content.
The gate they finally chose to utilize for the second leg of the plan was surprisingly the one he never put much stock into in the past—although now that it was the only one they had a relative idea of its location and an adequate belief it wasn’t crawling with police given a distinct lack of mention of it despite being smack dab in the middle of a highway, it actually made the most sense.
The woods were simultaneously close to every necessary location they wanted to hit while still remaining hidden enough they’d lost the first swarm inside the relative safety of the trees after Steve’s painful introduction to what made a demobat quite possibly the worst thing the Upside-down had ever produced to date.  Not that he was biased, or anything.
Once the majority of the kids had all been dropped off to await the signal to take action much the same way they’d been instructed to the first time—the addition of not one, but five extra walkmen and a boombox at their disposal as well as the additional Kate Bush tape Steve had given to Eddie for safekeeping before everything about his own hairbrained plan spiraled out of control—the arguable adults of the group plus the singular superpowered teen made their way into the forest after leaving their cars in the rear lot of the trailer park.
It would have been the preferred choice for everyone present to drive closer to the gate seeing as how having a quick getaway was never a bad idea, but something about parking two very conspicuous vans on the side of a highway with a portal to an alternate dimension somewhere in its general vicinity really didn’t sit well with any of them.  And for good reason, too.  The less nosey townsfolk getting themselves murdered in their stupidity, the better.
The only other thing Steve would have maybe liked to do before heading out is wait for Joyce and Hopper to roll into town before they made their move, although he understood the reason both Will and El very quickly nixed that idea in its entirety.
Saying hello only to turn around and say goodbye was far too risky a chance for any of them to take, and not that he was pessimistic about the likelihood of their success rate or anything of that nature, but he himself didn’t want his final memory of the couple to be the one of their haggard return to Hawkins.
The two deserved to believe the worst was behind them. Even if for only one singular night.
------------------------------------------
Read the newest update below and buckle up for this chapter arriving soon to an Ao3 website near you: Upside-down shenanigans take three. Or one, depending on how you want to look at it.

YOU HAVE BEEN DEFEATED. ↳ what loot items do you drop?
Tumblr media
COMMON: Well it’s no surprise that he’s dropping rings, though his seem to manifest in the form of... an extra life?! Must’ve had a hundred — score! UNCOMMON: The ever so iconic pair of Power Sneakers. Metal plated on the bottom to endure high speed travel, with a golden buckle strapped to the side of each. Function and fashion! RARE: Is that an inhibitor ring? Strange... it must’ve been hidden on his person beforehand. The real question is one of ownership; was this always his, or is it sentimental in value? EPIC: An old bracelet, once said to be worn by Light Gaia. Although it appears ordinary at first glance, it has a few mystical properties that may aid it’s user. LEGENDARY: Seven chaos emeralds..! Caught him during his super state, eh?

Crafting a Consistent Brand Image Across Platforms
As we sail further into the uncharted waters of social media, the next island on our map is “Crafting a Consistent Brand Image Across Platforms” – a crucial pitstop where the artistry of your brand truly comes to life. Imagine your brand as a musical masterpiece; each platform is an instrument, and consistency is the rhythm that ties it all together.
Just like a catchy tune, a cohesive brand identity resonates with your audience, leaving a lasting impression. Let’s take a glance at the visual symphony – your logo, color schemes, and visual elements. These are the musical notes that play harmoniously across platforms, ensuring that whether your audience stumbles upon your brand on Facebook or Instagram, they instantly recognize the familiar melody of your visual brand identity.

But wait, there’s more to this concert! Enter the virtuoso of messaging and tone of voice. Whether you’re tweeting a quick riff or sharing a ballad on LinkedIn, the way you communicate should be as consistent as a well-practiced chorus. It’s the language that echoes in the minds of your audience, building a connection that goes beyond a single platform.
Picture your brand as a touring band, playing to diverse audiences. A rock concert on Twitter might be loud and punchy, while a mellow acoustic set on LinkedIn resonates with a professional crowd. The magic lies in adapting your performance without losing the essence of your brand.
So, as you embark on this multi-platform concert tour, remember, consistency is the melody that transforms a brand into a memorable symphony. Strike the right chords, harmonize your elements, and watch as your brand’s music becomes the anthem that your audience can’t help but sing along to, regardless of the platform they find themselves on. Tune in and let the branding ballad begin!
Leveraging Visual Content for Maximum Impact
Prepare to turn up the visual volume as we delve into the electrifying topic of “Leveraging Visual Content for Maximum Impact.” In the grand spectacle of social media, visuals are the rockstars that command attention, and your brand is about to take center stage.
My Best Recommended & Proven Way to Make $100-$300 Daily – Watch This FREE Video to START >>>
Visual content, the unsung hero of the digital realm, is the backstage pass that invites your audience into the heart of your brand. Just like a mesmerizing music video, your visuals should tell a compelling story. Whether it’s a carefully crafted infographic on Facebook, an Instagram carousel that unfolds like a photo album, or a Twitter image that packs a punch in under 280 characters – each visual is a chord that resonates with your audience.
Now, let’s talk about the headliner – videos. In the realm of social media, videos are the rock anthems that capture attention and leave a lasting impression. Embrace the power of storytelling through live streaming or share behind-the-scenes snippets; your audience craves the authentic, and videos are the VIP pass that takes them beyond the velvet ropes.
But here’s the encore – quality and relevance. Just as a concert’s success hinges on the audiovisual experience, your visuals must be crisp, captivating, and on-brand. Visuals that align with your brand’s personality create a rhythm that your audience instinctively grooves to, building an unforgettable experience.
So, grab your metaphorical guitar, strum the chords of creativity, and let the visuals be the anthem that echoes in the minds of your audience. In this symphony of social media, where every image and video is a note in your brand’s composition, make sure your melodies leave your audience humming along, eagerly awaiting the next encore. Rock on, visual virtuoso!
Engaging Your Audience: Effective Social Media Strategies
Now that we’ve set the stage with our visual crescendo, it’s time to explore the electrifying world of “Engaging Your Audience: Effective Social Media Strategies.” Think of social media engagement as the call-and-response of a live performance – your audience clapping, cheering, and actively participating in the symphony of your brand.
First up in this interactive concert: the content calendar – your event schedule in the social media arena. Just like a well-orchestrated tour, a content calendar ensures your brand is consistently in the spotlight. It’s the roadmap that guides your audience through a captivating journey, keeping them hooked on the anticipation of what comes next.
My Best Recommended & Proven Way to Make $100-$300 Daily – Watch This FREE Video to START >>>
But what’s a concert without crowd interaction? Cue the user-generated content, the mosh pit of social media where your audience becomes an integral part of the show. Encourage your fans to share their experiences, opinions, and creative expressions. It’s the viral ripple effect that turns spectators into active participants, transforming your brand into a shared experience.
Now, let’s toss confetti into the mix with contests and giveaways – the surprise encores of social media engagement. Whether it’s a ticket giveaway or a challenge that sparks creativity, these strategies generate excitement, encouraging your audience to not just watch but actively participate in the performance.
In this grand spectacle, influencers and partnerships are the dynamic duets that add a fresh harmony to your brand’s melody. Collaborate with influencers whose tune aligns with yours, amplifying your reach and resonating with new audiences. It’s the strategic collaboration that expands your brand’s fanbase and builds a community.
And remember, social media is not a monologue; it’s a dialogue. Responding to audience feedback is the encore that builds a connection beyond the stage. Whether it’s a round of applause or constructive criticism, engaging with your audience transforms them from spectators to loyal fans.
So, grab the mic, cue the spotlight, and let these engaging strategies transform your brand’s social media presence into a standing ovation. With each interaction, your brand becomes not just a performance but a shared experience, leaving your audience chanting for more. Rock on, maestro of engagement!
Monitoring and responding to audience feedback
As our social media concert reaches its pinnacle, it’s time to shine the spotlight on a critical encore – “Monitoring and Responding to Audience Feedback.” Just as a live performance thrives on the energy of the crowd, your brand’s success on social media hinges on the harmony you create with your audience.
Consider audience feedback as the applause that follows your performance. It’s the standing ovation or the constructive critique that echoes in the digital auditorium. Monitoring this applause is like having a backstage pass to the audience’s emotions, preferences, and opinions. Utilize tools and analytics to gauge the volume of your applause – track likes, shares, and comments to understand what resonates with your fans.
Now, the key is not just to hear the applause but to respond to it. Think of responses as the artist’s acknowledgment of the audience. Whether it’s a heartfelt thank you for positive feedback or a gracious nod to constructive criticism, acknowledging your audience fosters a sense of connection. It transforms a one-time performance into an ongoing conversation.
Picture your brand as the lead vocalist, and your audience as the backup choir. When the audience sings along, join in the chorus. Respond to comments, address concerns, and incorporate feedback into your future performances. It’s not just about delivering a flawless show; it’s about adapting and evolving based on the audience’s reactions.
My Best Recommended & Proven Way to Make $100-$300 Daily – Watch This FREE Video to START >>>
But here’s the encore – don’t just respond, engage. Spark conversations, ask questions, and make your audience feel like VIPs in the front row. Social media is a two-way street, and the more you engage with your audience, the more they become an integral part of your brand’s journey.(Social Media Branding)
In this grand finale of our social media concert, remember that audience feedback is not just applause; it’s the rhythm that keeps your brand’s music alive. So, embrace the cheers, learn from the critiques, and let the audience know that their presence in the digital auditorium is what makes your brand’s performance truly spectacular. Bravo to the conductor of audience interaction!
Conclusion
As the digital curtain descends on our social media odyssey, we unite for the grand finale – the “Conclusion.” Like the closing notes of a symphony, here we blend the lessons from our exploration of platforms, strategies, and engagement. Just as a composer selects instruments for a masterpiece, strategic platform selection orchestrates the perfect composition for your brand – whether rocking on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, or dancing to the rhythm of TikTok, each platform contributes a unique note to your brand’s online melody.
Crafting a consistent brand image becomes the ongoing refrain echoing across the digital landscape. Like a recurring theme in a captivating melody, your logo, colors, and messaging create an identity that resonates on every platform. Consistency isn’t just a style; it’s the glue binding your brand’s narrative, making it unforgettable. Visual content, the star soloist, takes the spotlight, telling a story that captivates and resonates. Engaging your audience, the interactive encore, sets the pulse that keeps your brand alive, from content calendars to user-generated content and dynamic collaborations. As we take a final bow, the spotlight shifts to monitoring and responding to audience feedback – turning social media into a living conversation. Bravo to the maestros of social media branding – may your presence be a standing ovation, leaving audiences eager for the encore!

Travel on a Dime: Expert Hacks for Affordable Train Travel in 2024
The romance of train travel – scenic landscapes, leisurely journeys, and the clickety-clack of the tracks – remains unmatched. But let's face it, train fares can quickly derail your budget dreams. Fear not, wanderlust-stricken penny-pinchers! With a few clever hacks, you can still embark on epic train adventures without breaking the bank in 2024. Buckle up, and get ready to explore with these expert tips for affordable train travel:
Planning Makes Perfect:
Embrace Off-Season Travel: Ditch peak season crowds and prices. Shoulder seasons (spring and fall) offer pleasant weather, fewer tourists, and often, lower fares. Research events and festivals that might inflate prices during certain periods.
Tumblr media
Be Flexible: Don't be wedded to specific dates or routes. Consider alternative journeys with layovers in charming towns, or be open to exploring less-visited destinations with potentially cheaper connections.
Book in Advance (But Not Too Early): Many train operators offer early booking discounts, but the sweet spot can vary. Generally, aim for 2-3 months in advance for domestic travel, and 4-6 months for international journeys. For specific destinations like London, it's advisable to book even earlier, especially during peak travel seasons, to secure the best deals on London train tickets.
Become a Scheduling Savvy: Weekday travel is often cheaper than weekends. Explore overnight trains to minimize daytime travel costs and maximize sightseeing time. Consider red-eye trains for budget-friendly, sleep-on-the-go options.
Ticket Tinkering:
Score Rail Passes: For multi-city train travel, consider regional or national rail passes. Compare costs with individual ticket prices, factoring in flexibility and potential discounts for specific age groups or travel styles.
Split Tickets: Research if split ticketing is possible on your route. This involves buying separate tickets for different legs, potentially saving you money compared to a single through-ticket.
Buddy Up: Many operators offer group discounts or family fares. Traveling with friends or family can significantly reduce individual costs.
Look Beyond First Class: While tempting, first-class comfort comes with a hefty price tag. Consider upgraded second-class options with more legroom and amenities for a fraction of the cost.
Beyond the Ticket:
Pack Your Provisions: Train food can be pricey. Pack snacks, drinks, and even simple meals to avoid relying solely on onboard vendors. Research stations with affordable food options for layovers.
Embrace Free Entertainment: Download movies, audiobooks, and podcasts beforehand. Many trains offer free Wi-Fi, allowing you to stay entertained without spending extra.
Utilize Free Luggage Storage: Many stations offer free luggage storage facilities, especially for shorter layovers. This allows you to explore the city hands-free without lugging your bags around.
Seek Local Knowledge: Ask locals about budget-friendly accommodation, restaurants, and activities near the station. They often have insider tips on hidden gems that won't break the bank.
Bonus Hacks for 2024:
Leverage Loyalty Programs: Sign up for loyalty programs offered by train operators. You can accumulate points and redeem them for future discounts or upgrades.
Explore Special Offers: Keep an eye out for seasonal promotions, flash sales, and student/senior discounts offered by train companies.
Consider Alternative Routes: Research cheaper, slower options like regional trains or overnight journeys. While they might take longer, they can offer a more immersive experience and save you money.
Remember, affordable train travel is all about smart planning, flexibility, and resourcefulness. By incorporating these expert hacks into your 2024 travel plans, you can turn your dream train journey into a budget-friendly reality. So, pack your bags, grab your tickets, and get ready to explore the world on a dime! And don't forget to consider Split Saving as a strategy to save even more on your train fares.
