Really, I think it would boil down to a difference in philosophy for them, hurt feelings might be bad, but wrong is wrong, "you'll get over it".

Hichan too likes romance and especially shoujo manga - basically manga aimed at young girls all about romance. Hinami enjoys these things as an escape from reality, where she knows it's not true for the majority of people. That whole "I would burn up a sun for you", etc stuff. It's fantasy, not reality, and that difference would ultimately frustrate Hinami.

so for hinami, she's sort of two personalities in a way, on the front, and unclear on how deeply it goes, she's kind, and caring, blah, blah, blah, but on the flip side, she's utterly ruthless when it comes to her "clan" when someone she cares about is harmed, she will torch the world for them, and part of her also sometimes believes that to build a new, good and just world, the old one needs to be burned down

there's an indistinct cross over between the extremes of her personality, and she's not entirely sure where her trauma ends and where she begins

on comparison with betrothals, hinami doesn't particularly care for it, but it's not really anything personal against her betrothed since it was chosen by her father, and since they live in the 21st fucking century, she's not a fan of the concept, and should her brother become emperor instead of her father, she's been promised he'll break it off on actual fiancée in question though, they more or less get along Makoto Miyano (cousin to C's Sena Miyano), he was chosen since there's only a handful of eligible miyano's, and the miyano's helped financially and politically back the minamoto claim (not aware of masaomi's deal with the hunters until later though)

they more or less grew up together, so they get along, but wouldn't say they're in love, and both being the type to hate being commanded, they've actively sought to avoid falling for each other

Hinami is social, but contained, she prefers to keep the company of those she knows well, and only makes pleasant small talk when necessary, before moving on as soon as possible

Abilities: Can put her target to sleep, can go into a defensive coma-like state to recharge her health. Cannot deal damage.

Coco is a sleepy magical girl, slightly dimwitted and ditzy but full of love and dreams. She cares deeply for her partner, whom she affectionally calls Hichan.

Before becoming a magical girl she was a regular high school student with debilitating insomnia. She made her wish without thinking but her hasty decision doesn’t bother her as she’s now allowed to do the thing she loves most- sleeping!

Wish: “I want the nightmares to leave me alone!”

Abilities: Deals damage with her whip which can change lengths at will, can deal damage to sleeping enemies by changing their dreams into nightmares, similar to a status condition.

Hichan is a passionate and emotional magical girl who feels everything stronger than the average magical girl. Dedicated to protecting herself and Coco, Hichan would put her life on the line for the things she cares about.

She used to have painful nightmares about the loss of her family in a car crash, but after wishing to rid herself of her nightmares she briefly lived in peace before diving into despair for her regret that she didn’t wish to stop the car crash. She saved Coco on the brink of despair and since then found a new purpose- surviving alongside Coco.
