life update

hi, all.

my dog, miso, died unexpectedly yesterday (12/20). this is the second major loss i’ve experienced within the past five months, and i’m not doing well. like, at all.

it’s gonna take me longer than usual to post any writing, so any wips i have likely won’t be done + uploaded until late january/early february. this might change, but i want to manage my own expectations for myself (because i’m bad at that, usually) and take a brain break as much as possible.

in the meantime, i’ll still be around, reblogging shit and talking to people, but i doubt i’ll be putting much effort into my own writing or reviewing other people’s for a little while.

gentle reminder that i do not and will not respond to tags/reblogs/asks/replies from blogs that do not clearly state that the owner is an adult (18+).

i know i’m not the only creator on this site that holds this standard, so i want to provide some ways that you can clear this vibe check.

in your bio and/or pinned post (or carrd/whatever if that link is somewhere easily accessible), you can put:

your numerical age (ex. “28”) or age range (ex. “mid-20s”, “in my 30s”, etc.)

your year of birth (ex. “1994”, “‘94 liner”, etc.)

your general decade of birth if you’re an adult but don’t want to be too specific (ex. “80s baby”, etc.)

some general statement that creators can lean on in good faith that you’re not a literal child (ex. “i’m an adult — minors DNI”, “18+”)*

or even some fact about you that would imply that you’re an adult (ex. “uni/grad student”, “part-time nurse, full-time stan”, etc.)

* ageism in fandom is unfortunately not uncommon, so it’s understandable that some people may want to be vague to avoid harassment. if you’re still uncomfy with any of the above suggestions, you can probably reach out to any creators you want to interact with via DM to let them know, assuming you trust them with that info. i’ve had followers do this, and it works for me (individually), so it’s worth a shot with other creators!

disclaimer: this system obviously isn’t foolproof — people lie! — but if they do, that’s on them, not on the creator who relied on representations that the person they were interacting with was also an adult.
