Yvelle stares across the table with an inscrutable expression. She’s just been, point blank, turned down by Billy Butcher to help the Boys on their little mission to bring down Vought and, perhaps more importantly  (to some of them), Homelander.

Anyone else would’ve been upset, perhaps even outraged, with the way that Butcher had just spoken to Yvelle, but she had a life of long suffering behind her. There was nothing Butcher could say to her that she hadn’t heard a thousand times worse on the regular. But Butcher didn’t know anything about her -- he wouldn’t even give her the time of day.

Frenchie, however, had appeared apologetic for his boss’ words and ill-treatment, and he had seemed interested in what she had to say. So, when it is just the two of them -- M.M. on a phone call, the pale, doughy boy having followed Butcher out -- Yvelle leans closer, dropping her voice and switching to French.

“I can help you, better than you know. Get me close enough to any of them, I can take their powers and use them for my own.” She smiles just a little, taking the cigarette from between his fingers. Maybe he was surprised that she spoke his language? “Better still, I can ensure that the odds are in your favor.”
