my plans
I had a talk with you today,
With the windows rolled down
It was nice, we laughed,
I told you how I wanted to move out
That’s great!
You exclaimed. That’s awesome!
You said. I’ll help you go, I’ll help you leave
I want you to find yourself
I felt a kinship, a tether mutually held,
A firm handshake, a warm hug,
And maybe some respect,
As well
I told you my plans,
I told you my hopes,
I told you my dreams,
My aspirations to free myself
I didn’t tell that plainly, of course
I veiled it in clever words
But still you saw through,
And put your foot down
You will text,
You will call,
Right? Right.
I didn’t know what to say at all
I could dive into the ocean
I could move to the moon
But somehow you would watch me
Track me
Until nothing was mine,
Until nothing was different
Until I might as well be sitting right next to you,
Telling you of my plans to move out
