This is gonna sound weird to anyone not in the know of animation and the industry but I am so here's an opinion I think some might understand.
I want Beyond the spiderverse to be delayed so fucking bad, I want to wait 20 YEARS before this movie is released because they decided to nitpick some details in the background of a single shot, I want the animators to clock in, work for 9 hours in one day and clock out, if anyone on that project is sick or needs to be off the project for a while I want them to have a full week if they so wish without the movie or the other animators suffering.
I want this movie to simmer, I want it to age like a fine wine, and if that means I'm 12 feet under then shit hold a movie night in the graveyard and I'll still be grateful.
ATSV was outstanding but it came at the cost of the animators being worked like DOGS and 100 of them quitting due to multiple redos of finished work and what I can only imagine was exhausting 11hr work days.
If delaying BTSV means we get, what is likely to be, and incredible work of art that the people working on the team didn't have to suffer for then that movie should be delayed, fuck I would PAY to have the movie delayed if it meant the artist won't suffer and Beyond comes out better than it could be.
This is probably nonsensical but after watching ATSV and listening to multiple talks from people in the industry (even including people who worked on Into and Across the spiderverse) I just noticed a slight pattern with these movies.
I know only a few people are in the TMBS and Starkid fandoms, but I gotta say this:
Boy Jerry and Girl Jeri have the same energy as Jackson and Jillson
Camp counselors/teachers? ✅
Matching J names? ✅
The nature of their relationship is confusing? ✅
Yelling at boys and girls for hanging out in each others rooms? ✅
Yelling at kids for hanging out in the woods? ✅
Something sketchy is obviously going on here? ✅
I think the main difference is that Girl Jeri and Boy Jerry are the R-rated versions of Jackson and Jillson, who are the G-rated versions of Girl Jeri and Boy Jerry.
Something I think is so so funny about Dimension 20 is that the "Say hi intrepid heroes/pack of pixies/what have you" "hiiiiii intrepid heroes" bit was literally started as an in-the-moment juvenile way to antagonize Brennan and it is the now the introduction to every single episode
Here's my second piece of fanart for @hey-imma-fangirl! Another redrawing of an in-game Death Quote Icon, with Queen Dice this time! Hope you like it! ^^
the saves for persuasion rolls when you're trying to convince a companion to use the astral tadpole:
Astarion: 15*
Gale: 18
Karlach: 7, then 14**
Lae'zel: 18
Minthara: none lol
Shadowheart: 15
Wyll: 18
*Astarion doesn't require a persuasion roll. you have to talk him into it through multiple dialogue choices instead of a persuasion check, and then it requires either wisdom or intimidation at 15 for him to finally agree
**Karlach requires one persuasion roll at 7 and then a second persuasion or intimidation roll at 14
(note these are all from my games, not any meta data, so i don't know if there are conditions that may change the rolls, but the numbers have seemed consistent through multiple games)
“The dice is stuck in the tower by the tongue,” I report to my friends with expected nonchalance. “Yes. By the tongue on the dice tower, that’s correct.”
The two games I’ve been playing recently are Disco Elysium and Baldur’s Gate 3 so when the limbic system pulled this line I was like “oh my god this is just like other video game”
Guys do u think Karlach and Harry would get along I feel like they would run around together and talk about being bisexual. Now I really want them to interact 😭
I like to imagine Jean gave Kaeya time off to play in the King of Invokations tournament mostly because she's just so relieved that he's found a hobby that's not self-destructive, sketchy, or both, and she wants to encourage this as much as possible.
