In spite of being so short, this took me a long time TwT I hope you enjoy it! There's a lot - A LOT - to say about Doctor and Companion dynamics, but I decided to do this comic with my favorite teams and to limit myself to one topic, because otherwise I'd never finish it XD

I'm currently at a point where because I've got into Gallifrey, I follow or have at least browsed people's blogs who love other dweu stuff. And I thought it might be fun to say what I currently think and know about eu characters/companions so when I have in the future delved deeper into the eu I can look back and compare and laugh and see how much is accurate! There's gonna be a "read more" here because this gonna get Long.
Also please let me know what I've got right and not and also tell me more about these characters if you are fans of them!
Benny: starting off strong i know some stuff about her! she's an archeologist from the future (wonder if she ever met River) and she travelled with... one of the doctor(s)? Possibly Seven? She is besties with Brax and sometimes works for him and his collection. Probably must be able to put up with bullshit because of those last two points. Has a husband called Jason and at least one kid, which, iconic, female adventure and action protagonists should get to be mums more often its always the childfree so big up Benny for that. made a cameo at the end of Gallifrey IV.
Evelyn: I have heard her. A little. I basically skipped through the apocalypse element because I wanted to understand some of the reasons that Romana is the way she is in Gallifrey, but didn't listen properly because I got bored. Is an old lady, which is great - its great to see ages mixing it up a bit, instead of the 19-25 year old girl primary companions we consistently get in nu-who. Travelled with Six and is/was a professor at a university. Not sure for which subject though.
Fitz: Canonically bisexual and wears a leather jacket. I've seen A Lot of shipping him and Eight, and these shippers seem to have a similar vibe to Two/Jamie shippers. I don't know much else, except that his time with the doctor is probably fucked up because from what I have gleaned, Eight's companions Go Through It like big time.
Compassion: Faction Paradox which I believe is in an alternate universe (also the faction paradox timelines seem to have have a different vibe of names to the main universe ones, every time I'm on the "Individual Time Lords" category on the wiki and see a name that seems out of place it turns out to be a character from Faction Paradox.) Is a person (human i think?) but is also a TARDIS? Like you can go into her and travel? Where tf is the door this is very cursed. Also used as a breeding machine to make more TARDISes as well? By Romana? Idk but this seems pretty fucked up in an icky way. And fucked up in a non-icky way too. I'm just confused tbh. Not sure which doctor is involved in this one.
C'rizz - Possibly people can't say his name right? Is that him? Alien boy, travelled with Eight and Charley. That's about all I know.
Chris Cwej: I know even less about him, hes the other possibility for people mixing up his name or something. Think he travelled with Seven. Idk why but he gives me dick vibes.
Hex Schofield: Travelled with Ace and Seven. Is from 2021 or something and says "sus." Which yh that was a thing but he was made before among us existed that's a cool coincidence that it turned out like that.
Liv and Helen: They exist. That's it I know nothing more.
Molly O'Sullivan: Also exists. Travelled with eight?
Charley Pollard: Has a Nazi for a sister - Blind Eye my beloved. Calls herself Edwardian even though she's from the 1930s, idk if its like a character point or an accidental fuck up by the writers. Has a romance with the doctor in some form. And also a pretty messed up relationship with him i think. Actually just a pretty messed up time. Especially because I think she was in Scherzo which I hear Wild Blue Yonder was inspired by. So good luck girl you're gonna need it.

Thinking about everything beginning to fall apart or go wrong for the Sixth Doctor. Going on trial. His relationship with Evelyn decaying. The shadow of the Valeyard hanging over his head. He regenerates into the Seventh Doctor, and he must now be in control. Get out ahead of all these horrible coincidences that plagued his previous life and lives. But he is also a very paternal person in this incarnation. He takes on companions who see him as something of a father figure. And the manipulations and schemes and secrets that he uses to stay in control begin to rub off on them. Hex and Ace get the worst of it. And all those secrets begin to bite him back in the end, time and time again. He begins to regret it. Maybe he should have listened to Evelyn. She told him on multiple occasions, in both incarnations she met, that he couldn’t control everything. He can’t go on like this. Fittingly enough, he regenerates in a situation that was completely random, something he never could have predicted, or schemed around, or manipulated himself out of. A sudden burst of bullets. He is now the Eighth Doctor, and the schemes and the tricks and the deceptions and the lies are done. Well, the odd little lie here or there, but he usually comes clean pretty quick. Well, until a certain Lucie Miller and her aunt. One big lie, one deception, and it practically tears their entire friendship apart.
There’s just something about the 6->7->8 progression that is just SO effective and satisfying the further you get into their various Big Finish outings.

It was absolutely Ace to meet Sophie Aldred today! Such a great little con.
And in the Q&A most people were asking about her original tenure or the new series return but I got in a question about BF and she had so much to say about how much she enjoys it. Even spoke a fair bit about Hex and how great an addition to their dynamic he was. I was so happy to hear it.
She did say she hasn’t recorded anything in a while and that she must get on to them so hopefully more Ace soonish!

Me taking a walk on this fine spring morning: Time for another Seventh Doctor Audio, this one's got Ace and Hex, should be fun. Title sounds exciting: Protect and Survive.
2 Hours later: Well, I may never recover from this. Big Finish owes me therapy

you know the game of tardis team swaps? like how would ten and donna have done in genesis of the daleks, or whatever? I was thinking about it specifically for ace & hex / ace & benny.
I think benny would do ok in the hex audios, but they go to history a lot, and I think it would be very heavy for her. she wouldn’t be able to be slightly detached and self-possessed, there on her own terms, in the way she often is in the vnas
hex meanwhile would be extremely useful in the vnas. vna!seven is constantly playing stupid games with his own health as well as with everything else and hex would work up the nerve to call him out. hex would not be able to exist near a plan that involves taking a large quantity of LSD so you can get possessed more fully

the seventh doctor dying from an act of medical malpractice has some very poetic irony to it considering his treatment of Hex, a medic

It's been a While since I posted any of my DW fics here, but I'm really excited about this one, so... if you want epistolary Hex and Ace-centric slow-burn horror, keep an eye on this one!

I’m convinced that the Seventh Doctor is one of the most powerful characters in all of fiction. Not “The Doctor” but the “Seventh Doctor” very specifically.
He’s incredibly funny conceptually and I cannot get over it. I’m baffled by his existence. He is walking proof that The Doctor doesn’t need to be always just some guy in a box. He has 4 main enemies and none of them are iconic Doctor Who villains. His greatest foes are his own intellect, the literal embodiment of evil, an abstract bounty hunter that has reality warping powers and Thatcherism. Does he fear a God? One of his schemes against a great enemy involves weaponising RPF fanfiction and I’m being completely serious. Every Doctor references 4’s speech in Genesis Of The Daleks while pretending this little man doesn’t exist. I guarantee that if he was in Midnight, the episode ends in 10 minutes. He has either tricked the entity into combustion or has instructed Ace and Hex to batter it to death with baseball bats. The episode runs at full length only if he gets bored but instead ends with a full doxxing of its identity.
I’m not a powerscaler, but if I were, this man would not be on the fucking scale. Do you really think that most anime characters would clock him as the main threat? He’s playing the fucking spoons and tottering around, he has misdirected everyone so hard that people are just forgetting that he still hasn’t explained (I’m only at Death In The Family) why the fuck the TARDIS is in a different colour. Even if let’s say, he’s bisected by Sukuna or obliterated by Saitama, he will come back. Somehow, SOMEHOW, be it one hour or literal decades, he would have resurrected and would giggle and completely wipe your existence from History. Warping reality cannot save you, he has already won. Keep in mind that the only reason that he actually died and regenerated was because he got super unlucky, that even after getting pelted by bullets BY ACCIDENT that what took him out was a fucking defribrillator BY ACCIDENT and also somewhat BY MEDICAL NEGLIGENCE. Nobody is doing is doing it like him. As I type this, I literally cannot think of a way that my favourite characters could actually kill him permanently. Like what do you do if you see him? Why does he just…know things other Doctors don’t? What even is he?
