I'm curious about people's opinions on this.

I recently saw some complaints about people writing het omegaverse and how it should only be for queer relationships and there seemed to be some drama over it and claims that het ships are ruining it. And because I tend to enjoy drama more than I should I read a long twitter thread. Now, the omegaverse isn't my cup of tea. All I really know about it is, wolves, Mpreg, dominance and submission. But it is very popular. Nearly all of my fandoms and ships will have a few omegaverse fics on every one of their AO3 pages. (Nearly all of them are M/M ships)

So I guess, what are the issues of people writing het omegaverse? Or should this be another case of Don't like Don't read and let people have their fun? Or does it just not really work for het ships?

Yes, het will totally ruin the weird dog dicks AU. Absolutely.

There are no ~issues~. People should write whatever the fuck they want. But if you want to explore whether it "works", you have to delve into what makes omegaverse tick actually, which is more than just wolves+mpreg.

One common use of the trope is to make someone 100000% the top 5eva. This is the type people often mock or complain about in m/m, and it works much the same in f/m. This is what showed up in that stupid omegaverse lawsuit situation: indie het erotica/romance novelists are now using this as a way to structure their fsub rapey ultra alpha hero stuff, and one of them decided she was the original and no one should steal her idea. (Soooo original.)

The Alphaest Alpha to Ever Alpha is a fantasy, not realism, no matter how many dicks the ship has, so it's not any stranger to go "No, he's really, really on top!" about the dude in het than about one of the dudes in m/m.

If this trope is hot to you, it's hot. If it isn't, it's not any stupider with het than with slash.

But that's not the only thing omegaverse gets used for. It's also used for the diametric opposite: debunking the idea of someone naturally being super, duper default on top. This kind of fic often does something with betas and actually engages with the idea of a three-biological-sex system (instead of betas being how you get rid of the characters you don't ship). It will have alpha/alpha relationships or omegas topping or omega-->beta trans characters or all manner of other gender/sex exploration.

I don't read a ton of het in fandom, but I do read m/m/f, and I've read fics where each chapter is a different scenario where the three are some other omegaverse combo. This is where you'll often see female alphas and male omegas and various takes on exactly what that would look like. There's no reason het couldn't also be used to explore sex and gender stuff.

And, really, some people just find knotting hot. A story being het won't change that.

That's content I just can't turn down.

Listen, I was around for when mpreg was hot.

Everyone used it as an example of how deranged the internet was. Now omegaverse is the new thing, and people don't really use mpreg anymore.

And you see way less negative reactions to omegaverse vs mpreg. Possibly because mpreg was this infamous creature of the early 2000s, which lurked on fanfiction dot net and other fan sites, this taboo little beast that people only brought up to laugh at.

But omegaverse is classier. It's evolved and matured.

It's no longer the screaming spring break college girl, but the older and wiser mommy who knows what she wants and isn't ashamed of it anymore.

She's a CEO in a sharp pants suit and 6 inch heels and glasses and a scarf that costs 40,000 usd.

I also propose the idea that omegaverse is more trans inclusive than mpreg, because it has a more nuanced understanding of how gender operates in this fanfictional word.

Back in the old days, mpreg was like...men shit babies out their asses.

Not many people really knew what else they could do.

They still wanted the gay sex but didn't understand exactly what they were craving.

I have always felt that "yaoi" and "bl" and m x m pairings all arose from this longing for connection.

See, in the 2000s, whether you watched Naruto or supernatural, you just noticed how female characters were just these... non people.

They were love interests. They were sexy and didn't do much, except get killed off for drama, or they were dutiful lovers, waiting for the main character to finish the plot.

Women gravitated towards gay pairings because first off, many of them are attracted to men, so two guys getting it on had this irresistible sexual draw for them. But also, these two male characters just had this genuine feeling of affection for each other.

They were well written and nuanced and had genuine connections. Women responded to that.

Where there was no compelling canon het relationship, women decided there would be a compelling, almost canon homo relationship.

So that's where boy x boy found a home.

In the hearts of women who wanted romance outside of romance novels, but didn't get compelling heterosexual ones in other media.

But mpreg was a weirder thing, where perhaps you want to impregnate this character...but he's male.

But you don't know how to do that exactly. So you go to this fictional thing...where men shit babies.

But omegaverse is better.

Omegaverse will do you one better.

It'll propose that we can acknowledge...that women can have dicks. Men can have vaginas.

Men and women can have both.

Omegaverse like...transitioned from mpreg!!!

It became gender fluid and gender inclusive.

I have always felt also that saying yaoi is just a straight woman's plaything to be wildly shallow and dismissive.

You know how many nonbinary and trans people who are afab realized they were not women through yaoi???

A thousand million trillion hundred.

Omegaverse is cool to me, ok.

Mpreg was alright, but it was sort of strange just so far as, you don't need to recreate a whole organ when you can just say, yeah. He's a man and he has a vagina.

So what.

Maybe he still has a dick. Maybe he doesn't.

But that's the beautiful thing.

He doesn't need either. He can have both.

A female character can have a big old dick too.

Gender is just...it doesn't matter.

You can prefer anal sex between two characters with penises, or you can prefer vaginal sex between a trans character and a cis one.

You can have two penises, if you want. Three. Four.

Spiked penises.

Doesn't matter.

Omegaverse to me was just like...the next step in fandom evolution.

It brought with it a whole other gendered system that I find interesting.

And fascinating from an anthropological standpoint.

I am pro omegaverse.

Not necessarily what I wank to, but...I like it better than mpreg.

I think it took the best of mpreg and tossed out the problematic side of it.

I think...the kids are alright.

And the girlies are wellfed.

Also on the Steven universe thing...I fully admit, my brain was sort intoxicated by a lily orchard video and another video by some guy.

I've been re watching it and I think I was too harsh.

In retrospect, I still think the pink diamond reveal wasn't well thought out and was an easy cop out...but I still like the series in general.

The music and the visuals and the world itself are fun. It also did way more for gay rep than its haters will admit.

So I admit my brain was seeped in toxic fumes.

But anyway.

Omegaverse.

Good thing.

Classier.

Of course, I don't mind at all! I actually have another ChiLumi piece I'm working on for AO3! It's near midnight, and Childe knows he should wake Lumine, but he can't mind it in himself to disturb her slumber. She looks so cute sleeping next to him, unaware of his discomfort. He should wake her, but it didn't seem worthwhile just yet.

Labor had started before dinner that evening, but the mild cramps were nothing Childe couldn't handle. After all, he'd been kicked, punched, stabbed, and nearly mutilated enough over the years to handle something as trivial as some back pain.

Lumine was none the wiser, humming to herself while she prepared dinner and chattered on about her recent adventures and how they needed to plan a trip back to his hometown soon so that the new baby could get to know his siblings-

Stifling a groan, Childe pushes his face into the pillow under his head. Lumine shifts next to him, giving a sleepy whine as she slips an arm around his waist and rests her hand over his swollen belly.

"They keeping you up again?" she mutters, voice thick with sleep. Childe chuckles softly, swallowing down another groan. Lumine's hand presses gently down, feeling his belly growing tight under her palm, and suddenly the sleep is missing from her voice.

"Are you in labor?"

"Ah, can't keep anything from you can I?" he chuckles, wincing. Lumine quickly sits up, smoothing the hair from her face and reaching for the bedside lamp.

"Don't." Childe warns her, feeling her movement on the mattress stop, "Don't. Not yet. Just...lay here with me for now." he isn't ready for the chaos of the midwife and all the preparations that would need to be made, he just wanted to rest a little longer.

"Are you sure?" her hand still lingers over the lamp, but when Childe gives her a nod, she quickly slips back into her spot on the bed and curls herself around him.

"You let me know when you want me to get the midwife, ok?" he nods once more, and Lumine settles down. Her hand runs soothing circles over his taunt belly, eyes closed as she whispers sweet words of encouragement into Childe's ear. He's long since outgrown needing to be coddled through any sort of pain but feeling her so close helps to ease his nerves.

"Has your water broken yet?" she whispers sometime as the sun begins to rise, the pain growing more frequent and much less bearable.

"No." he groans through gritted teeth, a hand slipping to rest on the underside of his belly, a burning ache seeing down below as something hard begins to press on his hole, "But I think it's time."

Lumine sits up quickly, throwing her legs over the side of the bed.

"I'll get the midwife."

"No. No time." Childe gasps, rolling onto his back and letting his trembling legs fall open, "Fuck, Lumine, I gotta push, I gotta push right now-" the jumble of words falls silent as he throws his head back against the pillows and lets his body take over. Without a second of hesitation, Lumine tears the covers from her lover's body and carefully pulls his ruined sleep trousers down to his ankles. She gives a soft gasp, giving his thigh a reassuring squeeze.

"I see the head. Just barely, but I see them." there's a strange sort of tranquil peace that washes over both of them. There was no time to second guess or overthink, both of them just did what came naturally, taking control when things grew important.

Sucking in a deep breath, Childe bares down once more, choking on a surprised yelp as something pops and fluid gushes from him, soaking the sheets.

"Come on love, again." Lumine soothes, careful fingers tracing the tight rim of skin around the infant's crowning head. Swearing under his breath, Childe pushes again, and again. Each time their baby inched closer and closer, before their head finally popped free.

Squealing with excitement, Lumine can't stop the stupidly wide smile on her face from growing even wider.

"Come on, once more, you've almost done it!" again, Childe lets his body guide him, bearing down with a strangled scream as the shoulders pop free and their baby falls into Lumine's expectant hands.

"Oh, it's a girl! Childe, she's perfect!" wiping away the grunk from her face, Lumine quickly scoops their daughter up and places her against Childe's chest. A wet cry sounds out through the room, and Childe laughs weakly.

"Well, that went a lot better than I expected."

Rolling her eyes and curling up next to her lover, Lumine runs her fingers through his damp locks tenderly.

"Next time, give me a little more warning, ok?"

"Next time?" Childe raises an eyebrow, snuggling their newborn closer, "What makes you think there is going to be a next time?"

He all but misses the mischievous glint in her eyes,

"What makes you think there won't be?"

This is a bit of an experiment, but one I'm excited about! I'm opening up three commission slots (or 100K words of commissions, whichever happens first). Is there something specific you want me to write? Read on for details!

What does it cost?

This was such a tricky thing to determine. I've looked around at what other people are charging (for a lot of them it's very little--value your art, people!) and thought through what would make it feel worthwhile to me, and I've settled on $30 per thousand words. The price will be based on the length estimate we agree upon after we've discussed your prompt. I won't change the price if I write extra, but I will reduce it if the story ends up being significantly shorter than estimated.

What will I write?

Hockey RPF is the simplest answer. If you want something else and think I would be a good person to write it, get in touch and we can discuss.

If you're commissioning me, chances are you know the shape of stories I like to write. If it's something really far afield from that--e.g. something really dark, or with an unhappy ending, or a non-hockey setting I don't know anything about, or a story that doesn't focus on romance at all--I'm less likely to say yes to the project, but there's only one way to find out!

Mpreg (short for male pregnancy) is a plot device in which men become pregnant. It occurs with some frequency in slash and very rarely in het. In these fanworks, the man who gets pregnant is usually human and cisgender. There is often no explanation for the phenomenon, although it may be explained by magic, medical experimentation, or simply the existence of an alternate universe where men are commonly pregnant. In some dystopian mpreg AUs, the role or status of males able to get pregnant may differ markedly from that of impregnating males

Looking for an RP partner

So... lately I have been having an itch to write/RP... it's been years since I last wrote anything substantial... but I want to hop back onto the "bicycle" so to speak, so here's to some self advertising and info about myself.

Before you proceed, keep in mind I'm 29NB and any future partners willing to RP with me MUST be 21+. I would prefer it if they were 25+ as it would mean they are closer to my age, but I'm not going to be nit picky about the age range as long as they are 21 years old.

I have some RP experience both in tumblr and discord, but as I previously stated, it's been years. I also written a fic here and there, years ago.

My replies tend to vary from one liner sentences to multiple paragraphs in one go or in-between depending on my creative juices. You don't need to match my length (if I get crazy and reply you in one too many multiple paragraphs) if the creative juices aren't flowing.

I am looking for a casual partner, someone who feels comfortable with me and vice versa. Someone who wants to have fin with me and making up stories for our favorite characters/ships.

Also very important for me, communication is key. Specially before starting a RP and during. We have to know each other's squicks, hard no's and anything that could be potentially triggering to either one of us.

I am very open minded and I am willing to RP almost anything for example: smut, GL, BL, HET, dark stuff, violence, gore, bdsm, a/b/o, mpreg/fpreg....etc. Thinking about it, I might just RP about anything as long as it's talked to beforehand, there might be some instances where I might say no, depending on the characters and the story being written. (I'm saying like if the situations call for it I might bre willing to write vore, which I personally don't like)

I shall only RP in discord and discord only. It's easier and cleaner. I ain't going back to tumbr RPing, unless I get begged to go back to that mess. I don't wan't create a character tumblr blog ever again, or do I?

I am an ever loving multi-shipper and love many ships, however I do have my OTPs.

I don't mind doing RP with OCs, whether they be OC x OC, or MC x OC. I do have some OCs that live mostly in my head. (I might share them one day to the world, maybe, maybe not.)

And now... it is time to put down the list of some of the fandoms I am willing to RP and the characters (muses) I am comfortable to RP as and some of the ships that go with it. (Bold means I feel way more comfortable than usual writing for the character, don't know why, some characters just sing to my soul I guess?) Regardless, I'll RP as anyone and I'll do any ships, unless they are a NOTP. This is just a sample list, if you decide to RP with me, we can talk more in depth about it.

Jujutsu Kaisen -I am all caught up with the manga- (muses: Gojo Satoru, Itadori Yuuji, Nanami Kento, Zenin Maki, Todo Aoi) (Ships: Any/Yuuji, Maki/Nobara, Satoru/Suguru, Nanami/Vacation, etc...)

Chainsaw Man -I am all caught up with the manga- (muses: Denji, Power) (ships: any/any)

Gintama -I am feeling nostalgic- (muses: Shimura Shinpachi, Sakata Gintoki, Kondo Isao, Okita Sougo) (ships: ginshin, kondo/okita, hijikata/okita...etc)

Dragon Ball (muses: Son Goku, Vegeta, Bulma..etc) (ships: any)

Demon Slayer (muses: Kamado Tanjiro, Agatsuma Zenitsu, Rengoku Kyojuro, Uzui Tengen) (ships: any)
