I am brain rotting so hard over the trent and colin dynamic rn, I love them so much, football kiddos au or canon, I adore them

ok so the THING IS.......... the Thing Is. i could talk about trent and colin forever. they are just. they are soooooooo!

it's the way trent was the first one to realize that colin is gay. it's the way he, a reporter of Many Years and known gossip fiend, kept that secret for colin without even Telling Colin That He Knew. and he could have! he very easily could have approached colin at any point during the season and been like, yo. i know what you are dot png. but he didn't! he chose to give colin the space to keep that secret, UNTIL he felt that colin was actively putting himself in "danger"/isolating himself to a concerning extent from the rest of the team. (i also think his Rainbow Mug TM was absolutely his subtle way of signaling to colin that he is a safe person, but colin is one of the himbos so we know how well that went). and then. and then!!! amsterdam!!!!! this was trent putting his foot down and being like. okay. you don't want people to know, that's fine. but i know, and you are not alone. You Are Not Alone. WAUUUUUUUUUGH.

ok this is getting Incredibly Long so i've put my football kiddos au-specific thoughts beneath the cut.

so........yeah. yeah!! for the football kiddos au, i ABSOLUTELY had to have trent and colin be a fabulous da and son duo. in my mind, colin was adopted when he was around 5, so the two of them have been in each others' lives for almost half of colin's life. and to me, trent is, like. Thee Ultimate Cool Dad. he's dorky as HELL but has just enough journalistic swagger that kids overlook his obscure literature references in favor of his Hella Fantastic Hair, etc. except colin. colin sees STRAIGHT through his da and he is Not Impressed. he has made it his life's mission to ensure that trent understands precisely how Uncool He Is. but if anyone else dares to tell colin that trent is weird, colin WILL bite their face off. there's a fierce protectiveness on both sides, and colin vets absolutely every single person who makes an attempt to date trent, and trent is fairly chill to let colin roam around and mess up and have fun and generally just Be A Kid. i also have a Lot of feelings abt how growing up with trent will lead to colin being a much more secure person, not only in regards to being gay but also just in generally aspect of his life, because colin is a Very Insecure Person! he doesn't have a lot of belief in himself, and he's not the best footballer, and.......and etc., etc. trent being colin's da will let colin grow up far more confident in Every Way, and i think colin being trent's son allows trent to in turn accept and discover his own sexuality much earlier, simply because. hey. i have this kiddo, and i want them to understand that it is okay to be who you are in this world. wait a minute. i should take my own advice. hmm.

and then there's the random mustachioed american next door and embarrassing flirting rituals and colin is banging his head into the wall because da. Da. Stop Being So Shameful. and then there's the dude with angry caterpillar eyebrows and his tiny five year old brother and trent is shoving colin down the hall because son. Son. There Is a Friend. Go. and they all meet and become a family and all is right in the world!!!!!!

I'll offer up two variants for some of the answers, using my main OC file (Ashe my beloved) and my 2nd one that I use to mess around (Atlas who I have mentioned like... Once-)

TRAITS:

Your "canon" trait combination? Ashe: Mystical/Hot. I will take any chance I get to use my attractive OC son- (2nd best to go option tho via) Atlas (maybe I just like 'A' names lol): Mystical/Street Smarts. Let me break all the rules and lie my way thru everything pls- (basically, I like it if it can help me socially and Street Smarts has its perks there too haha)

What third trait would you add for hardcore mode? For Ashe I'm tied between Talk to Animals and Street Smart. Animals to go down the full something is definitely up with him kind of vibe vs the one he'll actually likely have due to his personality/bad boy roots lmao. Atlas gets Book Smart, to be deceptively like the type where he doesn't look it.

What trait are you least drawn to? Powerful Build. Strong? My vain bb Ashe who would never chip a nail? I promise you if he looks like he has muscle it's purely for show lol. And Atlas is a stick. Aside from achievement hunting, I'm also just not down to throwing hands/go for physical strength to solve my problems haha. Nice if you want your MC to lean more to himbo if you pair w/ hot, but if not for that then nah :p

Coolest trait? Mystical. I know I'm not alone on this haha. Aside from enjoying lore and slapping it on almost all my runs for my OC army, I feel like it fits best for SH's setting.

ROMANCE:

Who are you romancing? Reese for Ashe and Wayne for Atlas (me slapping the two Monster Lover achievements like DO YOU SEE THESE)

What romance are you least interested in? Dr Kelly. I do not hate her per say, I am just emotionally reactive to the *motions to the whole revelations of Episode 4*

Who would you romance if every single character was eligible? Isaacs or Harrison, likely? Like, I know Bo is a popular choice and I do like him, but considering it's 50/50 if he loses his dad, I wanna give the poor guys space to grieve first cause he's a sweet fellow.

MISCELLANEOUS:

What character would hurt you the most if something bad happened to them? Not including Reese who I am deeply hoping is ok on the endings where he's still breathing, I gotta say Kaneeka and Tabitha. For Tabby, I'd put my MC thru hell if I have to (and I legit yelled when she choose to take on those years the first time I played Episode 3 like Tabby NO I'LL DO IT PLS); for Kaneeka, god her whole situation is just shitty I just want the best from her and someplace that she can go very far from her mom p l s I will cry if something happens to her-

Would you stay in Scarlet Hollow when the week is over? It's too early to say. Very likely no because SH rn doesn't strike me like it will let you burn the root of whatever looms and haunts over the holler. If anything, I wanna drag people OUT of Scarlet Hollow by week's end.

Who would you vote for dog mayor? Scraps. I trust Gretchen and I just think Scraps is cool.

Din was stood over a counter in the cockpit of the Razor Crest, wiping down and cleaning his weapons with expertise and care. He was so immersed in his cleaning that he slightly twitched at the sound of your feet hitting the floor.

Tilting his head a little to see you through the visor of his helmet, he looked over your form. You were slightly disheveled, most probably from dealing with the child being fussy and cranky, and a bit tired from wrestling the babe to sleep. He turned his whole body towards you, showing that you had his full attention.

"Is the kid ok?" He asked with his raspy voice filtered through the modulator of his helmet. You smiled and nodded, stepping closer to where he stood. Din fought the urge to step back from you; Recently, he had noticed that he felt... different around you. Different in a way that he treated you with more care than before and that he watched you more often now behind the tinted visor. He didn't quite know how to deal with whatever he was feeling, but he'd be damned that you found out before he did.

"Yup! He's out like a light, snoring and all," You said, chuckling and stopping just right in front of him. Din gulped as you stared at him, your eyes flicking back and forth his own as if you were searching for it. You rested your hand on the counter surface, leaning in your head slightly towards him.

Kriff, were you trying to kiss him? Did you know about the kedalbe kiss? Perhaps Boba told you about it fleetingly and you wanted to do it with him. Wait, you want to kiss him? Him? Surely not, but there you were, inching closer and closer towards his helmet.

Breath in, breathe out, Din told himself, gathering the courage to close the distance between your foreheads. But, perhaps, he leaned in too fast, too strong, because the next moment, you jerked away from him and rubbed your skin with a small 'ouch'.

Din froze, not knowing what to do; He hasn't kedable kissed anyone since Paz stole his first when they were mere adolescents, fresh into the creed. He observed your expression, finding it twisted in confusion and amusement.

"Din? What was that for?" You lightly laughed, your hand falling from your head and looked up into his visor with bright eyes. He took a sharp breath in before responding:

"I, uh, fell asleep... Probably lulled my head, uhh, forward... yes.."

That brought out the heartiest laugh he's ever heard from you, awed at the sight of you bent over with your arms around your belly and your wide smile cracking your lovely face. Din felt him smile back, his lips unable to stop from curling upwards despite you not seeing it.

"Oh, Mando, whatever will we do with you." You said teasingly and rested your hand on his shoulder. For a moment, he thought you were about to brush it off as an accident, but- "If you just wanted to kiss me, you should've said so."

Oh. Well. That was unexpected. But very much welcome. So Din tilted his head forwards again, whispering and asking for your consent, and you happily give it to him. You both stayed like that for a moment; Your arms wrapped around his shoulders and his wrapped around your waist, foreheads touching.

Din could really get used to this.
