Star Wars and Fate
"I will not turn, you will have to destroy me" "If that is your destiny" Darth Vader & Luke Skywalker ROTJ
Wrote this as an answe to this post:
I love when Lucas talks about Luke having an hero´s journey while Anakin is pretty much the tragic hero greek style whose story was completely dominated by fate, the one thing the greek gods feared because they could not change it and were subjects of it, this is why I think Vader is the only character on star wars who fears fate, bassically everybody else is carefree about fate and believe in making their own choices, even the Emperor, in fact he says he can "control fate", while Vader, whose life, birth and tragedy is directly linked to prophecy and visions, fears his own prophecy powers because he knows they can´t be stopped and they so often are about death and tragedy that he can´t help but be pessimistic about it.
Vader had visions about Luke attacking him before ROTJ(acording to the comics) and probably also had visions about the Emperor attacking Luke, which helps to explain his deppresive nonchalance in ROTJ, I think he wanted Luke to live even if it meant he was going to become his replacement, Luke was right, Vader loved his Son, he wanted him to live, he didn´t want to destroy him and that´s why he told Luke the Emperor was "His master now" because for all he knew, there was no defeating the Emperor until he realized he could not let Palpatine kill his Son, he had to stop him, no matter the consequences for himself, the Emperor or The Empire, he could do something about this and for the first time in a long time, he felt like he could change fate without selling his soul, it would only mean his life and he was already ready to give it up.
Anakin´s life was dominated by fate the moment he was born, his birth was a prophecy on itself and his life always was going to have strong consequences for the entire galaxy given the force send him to stop the Sith "Great Plan"by any means.
This is why I also love to read Darth Plagueis take on the chosen one prophecy, he was a sith with centuries of experience, Palpatine´s master who developed the whole "Clone army plans" and his reading of it was that Anakin was made by the force to stop them yes or yes, he even had visions of Vader and resolved he had to kill him and even then, he thought they were too late When Anakin was just a child, because Anakin´s existence meant the force was going to destroy their plan anyway, he just didn´t know how.
Palpatine was more arrogant, he thought he could stop the prophecy by making Anakin fall and also had the idea the Sith were owned the chosen one because they were the reason behind his birth but he forgot that while there are prophecies that can be changed, in fact he was an expert at manipulating events and making his own "prophecies", there are also prophecies that can´t change and are going to be a reality wheter he likes it or not and the fall of the Sith was one such prophecies.
Palpatine was like prometheus who was able to prepare for almost any kind of event but ultimately also had a fate while Anakin was like Cassandra and the oracle of delphi, he always dreamed about prophecies and there was a chance he could change some of them but often people didn´t believe him and was tortured with the certainty that his prophecies were going to become a reality.

The Magnum Opus as Alchemical Journey.
There are lots of variations of the processes of alchemy, but they essentially all reflect the four stages, so I worked off of that as Jung interpreted them. They're not sequential, but they could be, as you can see they easily reflect hero's and heroine's journeys cycles.

Story Prompt 90
"Even if you're seen as the hero, someone's gonna paint you as the bad guy," she said with a wry grin, her words dripping with the weight of experience.
Amidst the bustling chaos of the city, she moved like a shadow, unseen yet ever-present. Her actions spoke louder than words, a silent symphony of defiance against a world drowning in its own corruption.
"You're a legend in their eyes, you know," remarked a voice from the shadows, barely audible over the distant hum of traffic. "But to some, you're nothing but trouble."
She chuckled, the sound mingling with the gentle rustle of leaves in the wind. "Trouble finds me, darling. It's just a matter of time before it catches up."
As night fell, she prowled the streets with purpose, a lone wolf in a concrete jungle. Each step carried her closer to her goal, her determination unyielding in the face of adversity.
"Are you not afraid of being labeled a villain?" asked another voice, this one tinged with uncertainty.
She paused, the weight of the question settling like a cloak around her shoulders. "Fear has no place in my world," she replied, her tone as sharp as the blade hidden beneath her coat. "I'll be whatever they need me to be, as long as it serves my purpose."

Storytelling and the Andriani Cycle. Marrying Dan Harmon Story Circle with John Truby’s Techniques. A Metamodernist Approach
Dan Harmon, John Truby, and a Twist of Joseph Campbell For those of you that have been with me for some time, you know how I feel about the traditional three-act, Aristotelian storytelling structure: to put it nicely, I don’t feel for it. And as someone who believes that any valuable critique requires a valuable alternative, I’ve been working on my own iteration of the plot cycle. The following…

"oh wah cant belive spiderverse is doing a cashgrab and just making another movie for mone-" NO SHHHH SHUT UP!!!
This is how trilogies are SUPPOSED TO WORK!
Think abt the first 3 star wars, lotr, hell even hungergames!!
First movie is your introduction to these characters and world, and might cap off with its own small self contained "happy ending", the death star is destroyed, katniss wins and saves peetah, they stop kingpin and miles feels confident as spiderman
movie two is ALWAYS where shit hits the fan and we end on the *lowest point*, Han is frozen and luke looses his hand, frodo is led into the spiders den, the games fall apart and katniss looses peetah, Miles is Trapped On Earth-42 with no escape and the multiverse is crumbling
its been so fucking long since weve gotten a proper film Trilogy not trying to weave itself into an expanded cinematic universe where you gotta watch 2 seasons and another movie before part 2 dont Forget that Three is the magic number and this is how trilogies Work

Story Prompt 86
"Why bother being a hero, ya know? You end up just saving the very ones who caused you pain," one of them remarked, stirring his coffee absentmindedly.
The other, leaning forward with a furrowed brow, countered, "But isn't that what makes being a hero worthwhile? To rise above the hurt and still extend a hand to those in need?"
A cynical chuckle escaped the first person's lips. "Sure, but why put yourself through that? Why not take the easier route, embrace the darkness, and be the one pulling the strings instead?"
"Because being a hero isn't about taking the easy route. It's about doing what's right, even when it's hard," the second person insisted, their gaze unwavering.
The first person leaned back in their chair, a sardonic smile playing on their lips. "But tell me, what's so right about not being able to save everyone? Isn't it better to be in control, to have the power to shape your own destiny?"

Himmel is such a profound character and no amount of articulation can tell y’all how much I ADORE him. He knows damn well that he and Frieren were never meant to be, and that it would be beyond his lifetime if she ever reciprocates—but he’s so wholehearted, honest, and unapologetic in the way he loves and cares. He doesn’t let the knowledge of no reciprocation deter him from showing her that she’s loved in all these different, beautiful little ways; he does it all so that if/when the day comes that Frieren DOES realize her feelings, she’ll also doubly see that he’s loved her just as much all this time.
