Coconut Crab (Birgus latro)

Conservation Status- Vulnerable

Habitat- Indo-Pacific Ocean

Size (Weight/Length)- 4 kg; 60 cm

Diet- Fruits; Nuts; Seeds; Carrion; Reptiles; Crustaceans

Cool Facts- The coconut crab is the largest terrestrial crab on the planet. The largest individuals can grow to a meter long and weigh heavier than a newborn human. Surprisingly, coconut crabs are hermit crabs but when fully grown adults stop carrying a snail shell and grow a tough exoskeleton. Coconut crabs generally do the majority of their feeding on the ground but have been known to climb coconut palms, up to 10 meters high, to knock down coconuts to eat. Through a period of several days, the crab rips open the coconut with its massive claws. However, these crabs won’t turn up their antenna at tortoise hatchlings and smaller coconut crabs. Conservation projects work towards protecting egg-bearing females and massive breeder males from human hunting.

She’s against pets in general but if she had to pick one she’d choose a monkey

But after researching it and realizing she doesn’t have the adequate amount of time to care for one she lets booth get a dog

Has to be one that’s known for its intelligence tho

It curls up in her lap while she paints or draws

Has the hedgehog with Angela obviously

He lets sit on his shoulder when relaxing

Built it a fucking MASSIVE enclosure in their house

This lil thing has so much to play with it’s insane

After a year or two of owning the hedgehog, he convinces Angela to get a tortoise

He bought a beta fish one day bc he thought a pet would make him less lonely but he was scared of all the other species at the pet store

He named it Archimedes

Originally just had it in a glass bowl

Bought it a proper tank after Hodgins explained how bad that is

Honestly I’m not really sure

Maybe a hamster when she was young

But never got another pet after it died bc she was so sad

Says hi to it every time she stops by his office

He brought him into work once and cam made him put it in Hodgins’ bug room

Takes it for walks

It wears a black spiked collar with its leash

He has two ferrets and and a set of Guinea pigs

Talks to them for hours telling them all the facts that pop into his head

Carries the ferrets around his body (neck, shoulders, arms, etc)

Talks about them like they are his human children

Carina (right) invited her friend Jane over to see her new aquarium and her three pet fish! She loves animals, and over the years has learned to care for many small pets, including frogs, geckos, hermit crabs, and a tortoise. But this is her first time raising fish.

She has been wanting an aquarium for a long time. While she did extensive research about the proper care of fish, I used the time to brainstorm and come up with a way to make a realistic tank.

The tank itself is a clear plastic container from a Calico Critters baby play set. I mixed some glitter with a scoop of sand, and put it on the bottom. Then I filled the tank with hair gel. The fish are spoiler shad fishing lures, which cost me under $2 for a packet of 3. The gel is thick enough that the fish don't rise or sink, and has real bubbles in it. To finish it off, I added some faux leaves for the aquarium plants, which I got at the dollar store.

You got the Koralie ship part right. My crewmate was @official-kenralie-fanbase. The friend that was Never seen was @rayniscatstatue. You were right about @you-have-been-frizzled being the friend who gaslighted the fandom about her hair color. @winterfireice was the friend whose name contradicted itself (remember my constant hints about snow and heat? after which I outright told you to look in the snowy season). I said my crewmate was not a water source (River, since she was your guess) or the ship would've sunk. I said my ship had no Hollies aboard it (Holli is not involved!). "We had no stowaways" meant we were not the Stinex ship, which has 4 people - we were the Koralie ship of 2 people.

I sent Frizzle a list of animals with shells (mollusks, hermit crabs, lobsters, sea turtles, tortoises, snails) with a sentence where she had to fill in "shell" to get "Pete is but a shell of his past self."

"In addition, the tongue-twister REALLY matters. My mystery would be blown away if you ever found out. Report even the most mollusk-ule - I mean, minuscule - progress. My lack of Fins was not the only clue there. -That Anon" was telling you 2 things: You have not extracted everything from the first paragraph by figuring I'm not Fin, plus another hint at mollusks.

"Do not trust what people show you" - Frizzle seemed to think that because I sent an ask to River first, that meant I generally sent more asks to River than to Frizzle. Had a dream they released the new ancient, and it was a hermit crab dragon with a tortoise head, upper body, and legs. The secondary gene would cover the shell patterns. We also had lineart-breaking tertiaries called coral and seaweed, so you could literally put pieces of coral on the dragon. I'm scared the actual water ancient design will disappoint me now.

deff love bearded dragons a lot even if they have sharp side I pick em up like nothing and just carry em on my chest walk around n stuff

Current job: corporate paralegal for a multinational corporation.

Dream job: writing comic books/graphic novels, adult sci-fi novels and possibly even a TV show or movie.

Pet: Yes! Many a pet. Six cats total so far, hermit crabs, fish, a tortoise at one point. Currently it's just my Siberian husky and the unnamed betta fish.

Dream hobby would be making elaborate dresses. I never learned to sew but I love fashion and want to learn but just don't have a time.

For a while this was figure skating but then I got a stable job and could afford to do it so it's no longer a dream ❤️

I have! And I am very intrigued. I'm also really surprised that the products appear to be in the later stages of development and that they might be released much sooner than we expected a 90's character to be.

That's all I'm going to say about them for now. The reason I haven't posted about them or reblogged any posts about them is because about 11 months ago Mattel made two copyright strikes against my blog for daring to speak the name Corinne Tan. Which was ridiculous because that was already public information on Trademarkia, but I think an employee accidentally leaked a huge chunk of information somehow, and so to cover for that mistake, they started striking against any social media that was using the trademarked names. Unfortunately one more strike against me means my blog gets terminated. So to keep my blog alive, I do have to avoid using trademarked names or discussing any identifying info until the dolls are released. The copyright strikes remain in place for 18 months, so it'll be June 2023 before they're lifted.

In the meantime, I did two things. First was to vow not to buy anything directly from American Girl until June of 2023. Or maybe never again. They can't just give my blog a near-death experience and still expect me to be a loyal paying customer. My second action was to get myself an Our Generation doll and name her Carina Tan. Mattel can't stop me from doing that, it's totally legal, and so I did it to remind them that we here on Tumblr really are that petty. I figured if they're actually going to copyright strike me for saying the name Corinne Tan, then I'm gonna say Carina Tan a lot and just enjoy the thrill of not getting in trouble.

Unlike Corinne Tan, Carina Tan has a pet tortoise, hermit crabs, geckos, and frogs. She's actually Filipina-American. I read that Tan is actually the most common Chinese surname in the Philippines.

I also have an Our Generation doll who shares a first name with the upcoming 2023 Girl of the Year. Because I can. And I'm considering making my own 90's character with a similar name to theirs, just to rub it in Mattel's face that I can do what I want and name my dolls what I want.

So yeah. I read every single post that everyone here makes about the potential 90's character. I don't dare reblog them, but I enjoy reading each and every one.

I’m back! I had previously been using this account for mouse enrichment, but no longer have a mouse. Now it will be a personal blog/a place to share my animals!
