5. Sustainability!
When I first found out we had no blog post prompt this week my immediate reaction was to panic. I am someone who absolutely loves structure and knowing the subject of the task I have to complete so being able to write about anything was something that kind of threw me for a loop. I ended up deciding that I wanted to talk about sustainability.
Sustainability has been something near and dear to my heart for honestly as long as I can remember. I credit a lot of that to my grandma, who instilled the importance of protecting and preserving our planet from a very young age. I remember her teaching me what could be recycled and how to clean things properly, as well as teaching me how composting was not only great for avoiding throwing food waste in the garbage, but also super helpful for gardening. I’ve also always found sorting and cleaning things quite relaxing which I will say also probably contributed to why I enjoyed it.
Fast forward into high school and I was really starting to get more interested in sustainability. I remember reading into the implications of anthropogenic change on habitat destruction and climate change and being really motivated to change my actions to help reduce this. I became really into avoiding single use items, like plastic bags, saran wrap, and straws, and replacing them with alternatives like beeswax wraps, reusable containers, and metal straws. It was such a simple change yet so gratifying. I was also lucky enough that I lived close enough to walk to and from school every day, avoiding using transportation which would contribute to my carbon footprint. I think the biggest change I made in high school was becoming mostly vegan ( with exceptions to bee products and fish which my family would catch). I also began to engage with sustainability on a political scale, attending a bunch of Fridays for futures! At this point I also really started to realize I had a passion for sharing sustainability with others and thinking of it in a career aspect.
Now fast forward to university. I’ve really made an effort to live my most sustainable life possible. I am vegan diet wise ( I still use bee products like beeswax wraps and lip balm which family friends that own an apiary make, shoutout Honey Pie Hives and Herbals in Prince Edward County). I avoid single use as much as possible. I use reusable containers, my straws, wraps, and reusable grocery/ produce bags all the time, and make an effort to shop at more sustainable stores to get food (mainly the farmers market as much as I can). I use public transport if I go anywhere, I can’t walk to. I also got a job where I can share sustainability with others! I am the RA-LLC for Eco House, which is an on-campus residence community dedicated for students who want to engage with sustainability and environmental related topics/ conversations. I get to help facilitate conversations about environmental and social issues and share knowledge and resources with students on how to engage with and live more sustainable lifestyles! I also volunteer for the sustainable residence committee, which is a committee for students living in residence to have conversations and share knowledge about sustainability with like-minded individuals, whilst planning and running iniatives relating to sustainability for residence students! I find both of these experiences to bring me a lot of joy, and to encourage me to continuously learn more and keep living this lifestyle.
I know I wrote a lot but its because I am genuinely so passionate about it. For those of you who might be interested in checking out your own carbon footprint, theres a really cool tool called carbon-calculator which can tell you, and let you know what you’re doing that’s really good and areas where you can approve! ( mine was 1.3 tons CO2e)

-->It was finally back to the store! Where once again they all had to wait outside while I fiddled with the layout. XD At least this time it wasn't thunderstorming! Let me take you through all the changes I made --
A. As you can see, the major change I made was to replace all of the double-sided shelves with single-sided ones on either side of a large half-wall (with a glass half-wall trim on top to stop Sims trying to put plates or other objects up there) -- I was having some trouble getting everything to face the right way on the double-sided shelves, and I genuinely do believe this looks better. More like what you might actually SEE in a grocery store.
B. I also reduced the number of shelves overall slightly by rearranging the first "produce" aisle -- now when you walk in, you have Brazen Lotus's produce stands on one side, and the more traditional Get To Work refrigerated displays on the other holding various oversized crops on the other! Fewer slots to fill, and it means all the fruit and veg aren't bunched up together right next to the door.
C. I also added another refrigerated display next to the meat section -- this one is for fish, with Brazen Lotus's "Iced Fish Retail Fridge" (which requires her mod to allow fish and herbs to be placed in a retail fridge) in the bottom section! (I tried putting it on a counter, but it looked kinda weird and wouldn't slot correctly -- and then I discovered it fit near-perfectly into the bottom of the regular refrigerated display and went with that! It doesn't fit so nicely into the top bit, so fresh fish will be placed there to be bought directly.)
D. Along with that, I added the fossil displays from @somecreativecc as "endcaps" for the aisles, as the perfume bottles Victor can make from Simsonian Library's "Perfumery" mod fit on them, and they were the best-looking shelves I had for the purpose. *shrug* If anyone can suggest anything better, please let me know!
E. I also started trying out some "color-coding" on the SrslySims consignment shelves to try and see at a glance what should go where -- like, the shelf with Smiler's synthetic food tablets and herbalism potions from Simsonian Library's "Apothecary" mod is white because that's the "pharmacy" section, and the shelf with the canned green beans and green peas is bright green to represent "veggies."
F. Oh, and you may notice that I've started spacing out the various items on each individual shelf a lot more, so I'm not trying to cram multiple products onto one single shelf in any particular display and wondering how I'm going to fill the others. . .now, one display can hold a shelf of canned green beans, a shelf of canned green peas, and the boxed versions of said products on the bottom. Makes my life easier and makes filling up this grocery store a hell of a lot faster!
-->Okay -- once THAT was all done, it was time for the gang to spread out and get to work! And everybody had their specific jobs:
Smiler: Since we now had a fish fridge, I sent Smiler down to the fishing spot behind the store to angle for some big catches to fill it up! They managed to land a pufferfish and a tilapia to display above the fridge, and a betta to put in it -- it's a start!
Alice: Her thing today was bulk food processing and canning -- specifically, I had her make some more canned green beans and green peas to fill in a couple of gaps on the shelves, then move onto making jars of meat substitute for the discerning vegetarians who may come by. Gotta have something for everyone, after all! :)
Victor: Victor started out making perfumes, in "Focused" (bluebell) and "Playful" (daisy) scents, which (along with another bottle of the deodorizing scent) got him to level 2 of the Perfumery skill and allowed him to make "Happy" and "Energizing" scents if he so wished. However, his REAL job was to head upstairs and start Copypastoing everything that could be Copypastoed. XD Because while I DO actually want them to make some of the stuff they sell themselves, I am not above using Victor's magic to make the process easier on them and me. Victor's such a skilled spellcaster now that he's basically in no danger of the spell failing, even when he gets to a pretty heavily charged state -- and hey, I found out during this Copypasto spree that he can in fact copy the plates of raw meat Alice brings back from her hunts! So THAT is going to be freaking handy! :D

Seven Snippet Sunday
it’s monday afternoon but I wouldn’t worry about that. tagged by @bumblerhizal-art, tagging @guzmascanary, @cryptidpiers, & anyone else who wants to do this. taken from various in-progress pokemon fics
1) I Just Wanted To Illustrate A Headcanon About Possession And Delayed Amnesia And Now I’m Researching Folk Medicine, How Did I End Up Here
You turn your attention to the hearth where you’ve left a soup broth bubbling for your guest; kelp and dried fish, something simple and nourishing that he should be able to keep down even if his stomach isn’t cooperating. You leave it be and go about preparing an herbal tea to soothe his fever as well as any pain he might be in. Lady Sneasler sniffs the curling steam and recoils, giving you an offended look that can most politely be interpreted as You're not seriously feeding him that, are you?
"Oh, pardon me, I didn't realize you’d become an expert in herbal remedies. I've seen you eat Stunky carrion, My Lady, don't go acting like you have some kind of refined palate." Lady Sneasler gives a mollified sniff and stations herself at the head of the stranger’s cot.
2) Fun Times With Outsider POVs
You're about 6 inches from the door when someone calls out "Excuse me!" You turn to see a shy-looking girl jump up from the bench and follow you to the door. Your immediate impression of this girl is paaale, from her flax-colored hair to her all-white outfit to her suspiciously pristine shoes.
"You were able to beat the gym leader, right?" She points at the Cerulean gym badge pinned to the strap of your bag. "That means you're strong, right?"
"Sure, I guess so." You shrug. It's only your second badge so far, but if she wants to flatter you, you're not going to stop her.
"Then would you mind having a battle with me? I need more practice." The girl enunciates very carefully, and speaks with a noticeable accent. Probably foreign, then.
3) Lunch Time With Selene And The Champion Of Alola
"It's some bullshit that Goli can't learn U-Turn, though," he grumbles. "Fuckin' obscene is what it is."
"You gonna do League Regulation about it?" You half-tease. You take the basket and start helping yourself to the fried squash. "You're the law until I feel like taking my title back, and all. 'Can he get all the paperwork processed before being ultimately dethroned?' Think of the new layer of challenge that would add--"
"Shaddup, brat." He yanks the basket away and starts rooting around for any onion pieces you've left behind. "Pretty sure it don't work like that. You can't exactly regulate a Goldeen into bein' able to use Fire Punch, you dig?"
"You can if you're not a weenie!" Guzma beans a piece of eggplant off your forehead. "Fi-i-i-ine, but does Kukui know you know that?"
There is a moment of thoughtful silence before a wicked grin spreads across his face. "I think I'm gonna have to give the Professor a call after this."
4) The Existential Implications of Parasect
There might be Parasect in Galar somewhere, but if there are, they wouldn’t be anywhere near Spikemuth. So this is the first chance you’ve ever had to get familiar with one. You're struck suddenly by its eyes; what you’d taken from a distance to be cataracts is actually a film of fuzzy, fibrous growth that completely covers the creature’s eyestalks. managing the family grocery budget and making sure there was always good food in the house, recoils in horror. Mold! That’s mold, you idiot! You shut it right up. It’s not a strawberry that’s gone past its sell-by date, it’s a pokemon, and it belongs to your very good friend. Even if it is a creepy little thing.
“Cute, ain’t he?” Guzma sighs, touching his cheek to yours.
5) Real Cahoots Will Change Your Life
It is far from a secret that the two of you came from another time and place, but there are many aspects of that experience that you simply do not refer to in mixed company. In some cases your shared status as outsiders allows others to overlook social missteps, and in others, it is an excuse to look at them twice as hard. There are feelings you don't acknowledge, opinions you do not voice, because doing so in mixed company would serve no purpose but to emphasize that you are not truly one of them. The atmosphere it creates is as oppressive as a hand on your throat. And for the two of you, strangers in a strange land, mixed company is thus far the only kind you've had.
That, you suppose, is why you said yes. It is a kind of loneliness that cuts straight to the bone, and persists even as you find yourself surrounded by people.
6) I’m Pretty Sure This Is How Everyone Reacts To Seeing Leon For The First Time
The guy’s about Kukui’s height with a pretty similar build, but where Kukui is attractive in a relatively ordinary way, this guy is—there’s no other word for it—boy band pretty, with miles of shiny purple hair and absurdly sparkly gold eyes. He looks like a Disney princess and he’s wearing lime green running shorts and an awful tacky souvenir tee-shirt that reads Hulbury Aquarium over its stretched-out decal in giant orange letters. What the fucking fuck.
You know you’ve been staring too long when he clears his throat and asks “Are you alright?” His brows are creased slightly with concern. Fuck, those eyes. How are they so expressive? You force your jaw shut and try to come up with something non-obnoxious to say.
“Yeah, m’fine.” You are not fine, you’ve got twigs in your hair, dirt all down your front—that shirt was white, fuck your hot life—the pokemon you wanted to catch is long gone, and you’re apparently too brain-scrambled to manage complete sentences in the presence of the most stupidly pretty person you’ve seen in the last ever. Fuck this trip, you’re going home.
7) Cyrus Goes to Space & is Only 75% as Much of an Asshole
It’s night when you finally arrive on the island of Melemele, which suits you both just fine. After so long in the dark and gloom of the Ultra Beasts’s domains, the daylight of this world is like a sawblade to the eyes. While you have every intention of fulfilling your promise of delivering your companion back to his team, it quickly becomes apparent that neither of you are in any condition to do so. You’ve both been away from this world for weeks and you need to readjust, to light, to noise, to being in a world with people in it. Guzma is faring much worse than you in that regard. Even the minimal amount of human contact he had to endure on the voyage left him overwhelmed and glassy-eyed. You have no idea how long he had been in those dark, smothering caves prior to your arrival; you never asked.

Happy Blood ᴺᵉʷMoon 🩸
I'm so tired but I still have to make a Venison Pie for dinner tonight, and I'm pretty sure my Husband wants to make cookies when he gets off work, too (because I very dumbly mentioned to him yesterday that I was craving sweets, ha).
It's been raining, though, and so my bones hurt and I have a low level headache setting in again and all of my nerves are just on fire- on top of my not having quite recovered from Saturday's outing to Enid just yet; my left wrist (my cane wrist) has also been in so much pain. It was messed up before the trip, but Enid seems to have really screwed it up badly for some reason and I genuinely don't know why. So I had to put in a delivery order for groceries that included a wrist brace that'll hopefully fit because it just won't heal.
Plus stress in general, because my final test for my Master Gardener qualification is tomorrow, and I really need to study but my brain is just not holding onto anything right now. It's just a puddle of goo. And the car's in the shop still. And I'm all pacey and stuff, like I want to shed my skin but not quite yet.
Then the Halloween party with my old Covenmate's coming up on Sunday, and I still need to make the bread I promised I'd bring for that- on top of being worried the last few herbal supplies I ordered won't arrive on time for the ritual that same day (though I did see a Tik Tok of Jewitches packing my order so 🤞 there's hope for one part of it at least). Plus being worried that I've run myself too thin- or will run myself too thin- to actually attend the party or even do the ritual at all at this point ... And also still having no idea what I'm doing for Hagging Out this month.
I'm also pretty sure I missed last night's round of medications, which isn't helping- on top of not getting anywhere near enough sleep. And just. Ahhhhhh. Today is just a lot for me right now.

November 1 2021 Barcelona
Tumblr media
The weather is still mild and I enjoy very much all the walking I get to do every day.  After Zumba class I hoped to visit the shop where I usually get my vitamins and herbal teas but it was closed.  That gave me a chance to capture the lovely mural painted on the doors!  I’ll come back tomorrow when I’m grocery shopping at a later time and hope it’s open then.  They have the best selection of natural products I have found and the woman who works there is quite nice so we have interesting chats.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tonight Bruce and I visited a restaurant in Barceloneta, a barrio near the port, that we hadn’t been to before.  The ambiance was quite different and the food was excellent.  The name is Restaurant Barcelona, which is pretty nondescript but at least the decor is more colorful and creative.

Sick Day
Just posting an old fic from my AO3 account. You can read it on that website here, it was a gift for someone who reviewed one of my other stories (I have been known to offer bribes in the past).
Summary: When Jack is stuck at home recovering from bad chest cold, all he wanted was for someone to spend time with him. And with Sam and Dean on a case and Cas working on an angel problem, that leaves Mary...and Rowena. Now, if he can only convince them to stop trying to out-mother each other and just be his friends maybe he would actually feel better.
...
Having the flu, as Dean put it so succinctly, sucked.
Never mind that Sam had scolded his brother up and down the bunker that Jack didn't have the flu, that what he had was a serious chest cold, Dean had kept calling it the flu until Sam stormed off to dig up a hunt to shut his brother up. After all, Mary was planning on spending a few days at the bunker brushing up on some current affairs and helping with some translation work for a novice hunter out in California, so it wasn't like they were leaving him alone.
Except, Jack reasoned as he tucked his blanket a little tighter around this legs, it would be nice if Sam or Dean had acted like they wanted to stay with him. Castiel was helping Heaven—they'd found an angel hiding on earth and he was trying to convince them to go home to help power up Heaven, but Naomi was refusing to send anyone else so he was the only one who could do it. So it was just Jack and Mary left in the bunker, and without the noise of the other hunters or one of his dads the whole place just seemed empty and sad.
Jack loved Mary, he really did, but just...he really wanted one of his fathers. Sam had said their case would only last a few days and Cas was coming home as soon as he could (and called or texted whenever he was able) but it just didn't compare to having someone here. His phone rang, pulling him out of his thoughts, and Jack's face lit up when he saw Rowena's name on the ID screen. “Row-” he broke off to cough away from the phone, “Rowena?” “Jack? Oh, poor boy, you sound awful,” Rowena's lilting accent was colored with sympathy, and Jack wiggled further down on the couch and closed his eyes. “Yeah, I'm sick.” “Oh no, that's just awful. My poor wee lad.” “I'm okay. Sam says I should be better in a few days.” Dean, of course, said he was probably going to be sick for the rest of his life, but even through the haze of NyQuil Jack had realized that was a joke. “Yes, Samuel. Is he there? I've tried to call him but he isn't answering,” “No, he and Dean are on a case,” Jack twisted away from the phone to cough again. “I see. Well, how about Castiel?” “He's been gone on angel business for a few days, but he should be back soon.” Rowena was silent on the other end of the phone. Jack frowned and pulled the phone away, checking that they were still connected. “Rowena?” “And...they left you there? Alone? And sick?” “Oh, no, I'm not alone. Mary's here.” Rowena was silent again for a few minutes. Jack turned the phone away to cough into a tissue, careful to throw it in the trash can to limit the spread of germs. “Well, if the boys aren't there, I suppose I can stop by myself for what I need.” Jack was blowing his nose, but he picked the phone up again as soon as he was done. “You're coming?” “Just to look for a few things,” the witch commented, but there was something warm in her voice. “I'll bring you some of the remedies I used to take when I was a lass. We'll have you back on your feet in no time.” Before Jack could argue, Rowena had hung up on her end. He let his phone drop into his lap and rested his head against the couch. At least it would be nice to see her again, he thought. He was pretty sure there weren't really any cures for a cold (at least Sam had said so, and even Dean admitted Sam was probably right about almost everything), but the bunker seemed so empty with just him and Mary that he was looking forward to another visitor. “Jack?” Mary was leaning into the doorway, a steaming mug in her hands. “Did Cas call again?” “No, that was Rowena,” Jack replied. He drew his feet up so the blonde woman could sit at the other end of the couch and pass him the mug. It was herbal tea laced with honey—the warmth always helped ease the ache in his chest while the honey soothed his scratchy throat. “She said she needed some information, but since Sam and Cas aren't here she's just going to stop by to look for it herself.” “Oh.” Mary's lips tightened into a thin line. He knew Mary had grown up viewing witches as nothing more than another monster, but he held out hope that she could someday at least see Rowena as an ally. After all, Bobby and Jules and most of the hunters from the apocalypse world had learned to accept Castiel, so there had to be hope for Mary and Rowena. “Thank you, Mary,” he said, after taking a sip of the tea. “You always make it so strong, I like it.” Mary's cheeks reddened. “Well, herbal tea isn't really my strong suit,” she replied. “If you wanted coffee, now...it would still probably be pretty strong.” “I like it like this,” Jack repeated after another sip. “Sometimes when I make it I just leave the teabag in while I drink it.” “You rebel,” Mary teased, patting his knee. “How are you feeling?” He shrugged. “Okay, I guess.” Mary leaned forward to rest her hand against his forehead. Jack closed his eyes, leaning into the touch just a little. Her hand was cool and dry, and just a little rough with callouses in the same places as Sam and Dean. She smelled nicer, though. He still didn't understand why it was somehow a taboo for boys to smell like strawberries, no matter what Dean
said. “You're not running a fever,” Mary commented. “At least not a high one. Is your cough any better?” Jack started to answer, but had to turn to the side to cough into another balled-up tissue. Mary's smile was sympathetic and she patted his knee again. “Maybe a little. Just get some rest, Jack.” “Wait,” Jack caught her wrist as she stood to leave. “Sam downloaded some old movies before he left, do you want to watch one with me?” “I wish I could,” Mary replied, gently brushing some of his hair out of his face. “I just have so much work to do right now. Maybe later.” He tried to keep the disappointment off his face as she left the room, but as soon as she was gone Jack sunk back down into the couch and picked his phone back up. Movies were just less fun by himself, and he didn't always understand the references. Cas had sent another update, at least—the angel he was talking to was living near a bird sanctuary, and he always sent Jack colorful pictures of parrots and songbirds and an old, scarred pelican the sanctuary workers had named Admiral. Not as good as having his father here, certainly, but it was nice to know Cas was thinking of him. Jack closed his eyes, letting his phone rest against his chest. Later couldn't come soon enough. * * * “Jack?” A cool, soft hand on his forehead gently pulled him out of sleep. “Mary?” he whispered. “No, dear. It's Rowena.” He cracked his eyes open to see the witch leaning over him, brilliant red hair cascading over one shoulder. “What time is it?” She glanced down at the gold watch on one wrist. “Almost seven in the evening. How are you feeling, Jack?” Jack grunted and shoved himself up, rubbing his eyes with the heel of one hand. “Better?” Rowena gave a little laugh, sitting down on the edge of the couch near his knees. “Was that a question or an answer?” “Both?” She gave another of those little, tinkly laughs and patted his knee. “Well, now I'm here, I'll have you back to health in no time at all.” He smiled at her, but had to bend over to muffle a cough in one hand. “Sorry.” “No apology necessary, Jack,” Rowena assured him. He fumbled for the tissue box but found it empty and jerked back in surprise when Rowena offered him a handkerchief. “It won't bite you, my dear. And it can be washed.” “Ah...thanks.” Gingerly, Jack covered his mouth and nose to cough. Rowena shifted around to place one hand on his back and rub gentle, soothing circles. “You poor thing,” she murmured. “And the boys just left you all alone?” “Mary's here,” Jack reminded her, when he could speak again. Rowena sniffed daintily. “Yes, of course. Lady Winchester. Well, Jack, I'll just pop over to the kitchen and put this on the boil,” she said as she stood up, picking up a paper grocery bag. “I've got a few things to check while it's stewing, but we'll have you right as rain soon.” Jack swung around to put his feet on the floor, fighting a wave of dizziness. “Rowena? Sam told me to just keep taking this stuff,” he explained, gesturing to a package of extra-strength cold medicine. “Maybe...could you just bring your research in here and we could watch a movie instead?” The witch scoffed at the packaged medicine. “Nonsense, Jack. Trust me, I'll have you up on your feet in a matter of hours.” With that, Rowena marched out of the room with the paper bag clutched close. Jack slumped back against the couch, head pounding and sinuses clogged. He really, truly was feeling better compared to the last few days. Just...lonely. A crash from the kitchen had him sitting back up, and with a sigh Jack shuffled to his feet and pulled his robe closed. He could hear raised voices as he got closer and realized Mary and Rowena were in the middle of a heated argument over something. “...need your...witches brew,” Mary was saying as Jack approached the door. “We were doing just fine without you.” “Oh, fine, of course,” Rowena's voice was sharp with scorn. “Explain how you burned tomato soup, then?” “It's harder than it looks,” Mary protested. “And it's not burned, there's just stuff stuck to the bottom of
the pan. That happens every time.” “This?” Jack could hear something scraping, and really hoped Rowena hadn't just taken a metal spoon to one of Dean's prized nonstick pans. “This is burned, dear. See how it's gone all dark and bitter? You actually burned the soup, no wonder the poor boy is ill!” “What would you know about taking care of a sick child?” Mary demanded. “I have raised a son of my own.” “Who became a demon! At least my boys have never done that!” Rowena gave a dark laugh. “Oh, dearie, there's so much you don't know.” “And what's that supposed to mean? Sam and Dean are good men.” “Oh, no one's disputing that, Mary. I'm merely suggesting that they became good men because of your absence, rather than in spite of it.” That was enough for Jack. Before Mary could make her retort he shoved his way into the kitchen, his dramatic entrance made somewhat pathetic when he stumbled into a chair and had to hang onto it for dear life. “What are you arguing about?” “Jack!” Mary rushed to his side, turning the chair around and trying to push him to sit down. She was trying to be calm, but he could see the angry flush in her cheeks and feel her hands shaking. “What are you doing up? You should be resting!” “Did we disturb you?” Rowena asked, straightening his robe and brushing his hair back. She almost appear unaffected, but her lips were tight and she kept glaring over at Mary. “Poor boy. I apologize, it won't happen again.” Jack shook them both off. “Why were you fighting?” When neither woman answered he folded his arms, though he did sit down as his cold made him feel weak, and attempted his best Dean-stare at them. “I want to know.” “Mary burned-” “Rowena was-” They started at the same time, but both stopped to glare at each other. Jack sighed and rubbed the bridge of his nose with one hand. “I really don't need all of this.” “I'm sorry, Jack,” Mary rested one hand on his shoulder and squeezed lightly. “We'll keep it down.” “Aye,” Rowena placed her hand on his other shoulder and pressed a kiss to his cheek. “You just trot back to bed. I'll take care of the mess here and bring you something in a wee bit.” “I was making soup,” Mary replied, her grip tightening just a little. “I'll bring you some soup.” “If you can call it soup,” Rowena sniffed. Her hand was tightening as well. It was almost uncomfortable. “I'll clean up this disaster and bring you some real food.” “Okay, that's it!” Mary leaned over Jack to get in Rowena's face. “I've had it with your little insults! No, I'm not a cook, but John and I survived just fine even if I burned the soup now and then!” “Oh, yes, of course,” Rowena replied. She leaned over Jack as well, until his vision was all but blocked by the two women. “That would by why you had such a long, happy marriage, hmm? Oh, wait...you died.” “Enough!” Jack stood up, pushing the two apart. He swallowed down another cough and took a few steps away so he could turn around and face them, waving his hands to include the two of them as well as the disaster in the kitchen. “It's all of this! I don't need this! Cas is away on important business that couldn't wait, and Sam and Dean wouldn't have left if I wasn't going to be fine. I don't need you to do this much for me!” “Jack,” Mary held her hands out, trying to soothe him. “I'm sorry, I got carried away. We just want what's best for you.” “But you never asked me! You just keep trying to be my mother!” Jack pushed both hands through his hair and turned away. He hadn't meant to say that...hadn't meant to express the awful, bitter feelings that kept bubbling up. “Jack?” Rowena was at his side, one hand on his elbow. “Is something the matter?” He sighed, turning around again so he could face both of them. “I already have a mom,” he explained, feeling that little twist of pain and love and regret that formed in his stomach whenever he thought of Kelly. “A really, really good mom. And I have Cas, and Sam and Dean. I just...I don't need another mom. I really...I just wanted a friend today.” Mary had looked down, blinking back tears.
Rowena had looped her arm through his and was studying his face with a gentle expression. “My poor lad,” she finally murmured. “I never meant to try to replace your mother, Jack. You just seemed so lonely...I just wanted to take care of you.” “Yeah,” Mary came close enough to take his free hand. “I guess...we just thought we knew what was best and didn't even think about what you really wanted.” Jack let out a relieved sigh, letting the two of them guide him back to the chair when his legs started to shake. “Can we please just watch a movie together? That's all I wanted.” “Of course,” Rowena said soothingly. “I'll take care of the dishes here, and maybe Mary can find some snacks.” “And make tea,” Mary offered. “Nice and strong, just how you like it.” Rowena pulled a face, but this time Jack knew it was because the witch didn't approve of the way he drank tea. “That would be great,” he said. “I'll set up the projector.” * * * “Hey, Cas,” Dean greeted the angel as he got out of the Impala. “You're back early!” “Susanna agreed to return to Heaven,” Cas explained. “How did your hunt go?” “Oh, just the best,” Dean replied. He hefted his bag up to his shoulder and rolled his eyes. “Poltergeists are just so much fun.” “Do you need me to heal you?” Cas asked worriedly, looking over Sam and Dean for injuries. “He's just being a baby,” Sam said. “The poltergeist didn't hurt his shoulder, he just won't admit that he's old and can't take the cold as well as he used to.” “I am not old,” Dean retorted, leading the way into the bunker. “Besides, if I'm old you are too.” “That doesn't even make sense,” Sam complained, but fell silent when his brother pulled up short. “Dean?” Dean held a finger to his lips and gestured to the small office they'd been using as a kind of family living room. There was a projector running one of the old black and white movies Sam had found. Jack was on the couch, fast asleep, head tipped back at an awkward angle and breathy snores rasping out of his open mouth. To his right, Rowena was curled up on the couch beside him with her head pillowed on his shoulder. Mary was at the opposite end of the couch from Rowena, her feet resting in Jack's lap and her head down against her chest. “Think he's feeling better?” Sam whispered. “Hope so,” Dean replied, turning away from the room with a grin. “Looks like he was in good hands.” Sam shook his head, casting one more look at the sleeping trio. "I don't know, I kind of feel like it was the other way around."

can u do a part 2 to the pregnancy angst, maybe something sparks inside of him and he comes back to sincerely apologize
Tumblr media
part 1.
“fine. i’ll see myself out”
You sobbed in your shared bed for an hour. You really thought he left, you really thought he left his baby. The baby that he fought so hard for and loved with every ounce of his body.
you really thought he was gone.
“just you and me now baby, i guess” you cry rubbing your stomach and laying your head back down on the pillow. you wished you just kept all the problems to yourself, maybe they would’ve fizzled out or they could get worse but at least grayson would be here with you — with the baby. “i’m sorry, petal” you whispered closing your eyes and soon drifting into a deep sleep.
Grayson walked around the town for a bit and then did some work in the local cafe to calm himself down.
turns out being away from you and the baby made him anything but calm. anxious and upset, more like it. He couldn’t believe what he’d said — it was like an out of body experience. that he was there but couldn’t control anything he was doing or saying. He wanted this baby so bad, and he loved you and now his son more than life itself.
so how was he going to fix this?
He stopped off at a grocery store near by the apartment complex you both live in. you moved in there a month before you found out you were pregnant, a good thing too as this apartment is way better for a kid than the other one you had. And this was near both of your families and most of your friends too, so it was a win win when you found this complex. You could both see yourselves living here for a couple years. Grayson misses that time, when he wasn’t so work absorbed. when he was actually home to have dinner with you and talk about you day vice versa.
While he was in the grocery store he picked up some flowers, chocolate and your favourite herbal tea. He knew this wouldn’t get your forgiveness, but it’s a start.
He arrived home quicker than excepted, his heart beating out of his chest.
grayson hoped you’d forgive him. he couldn’t bare see another day, no second without and his son.
“baby?” grayson called out closing the door. “in here” a tired voice called out from the living room. he walked in to where you were, covered in blankets and hot water bottles and the crown on in the background. Grayson thinks you talked to your mom.
You’d be right too.
“i’m sorry” grayson sobbed making you frown and pat the seat next to you. “i don’t deserve you or baby. but i’m begging you to give me another chance. i’m sorry, honey.” he cried handing you the gifts.
“i’m so sorry. i’ll never do this again”
you sighed and looked at your husband, you could tell it was genuine, but you were still scared. so scared that he would just get to stressed and forget about you or the baby again. you wouldn’t be able to take it another time.
“this is the last chance. no more” you warn and grayson nodded quickly pecking your lips multiple times before making his way down to your big bump.
“daddy loves you. and you are his main priority. i adore you, son”

Oooooh pumpkin tea recommendations?? 👀
For real pumpkin flavor? Personal favorite is Celestian Seasonings' Sweet Harvest Pumpkin.
Harney & Sons' Pumpkin Spice Herbal Tea and Tazo's Pumpkin Spice Chai (also available as a latte version) are both easy to find (in the US) and very good, and have real pumpkin.
There are some local places that have good ones, but sadly... I don't think I know anyone near me. And most no longer have them, since Halloween is over. So the above are easy-to-find bags/mixes (I can find them all at local chain grocery stores - and Target).

"Don’t do that. don’t shut me out” and / or “We can talk through the door” - from the trauma sentence starters :)
Okay so this started as a one-off but, as usual, it spiraled outwards! The actual line will be in the next chapter. (That’s right, this bitch has two chapters! AND A PERSPECTIVE SHIFT)

It had been hard for Martin to adjust, after the Lonely, after the months of spiraling into the quiet, cold dark, imprisoned in an ever-expanding labyrinth of his own isolation. A therapist he had years ago told him it takes three weeks to manifest a habit, and in the months without his mum, without Jon, Sasha, Tim, god without even Elias to irritate his last fraying nerve, he had time to form hundreds of new habits, his habits of loneliness.
When Peter had given him Elias’ old office, under the guise of space, focus, and mental health (Martin could spit at that looking back, the cruel irony), the room had been rearranged. The desk, which had previously sat in the center of the room, with two slightly uncomfortable chairs positioned in front of it, chairs Martin had been eager to burn in celebration of his new space, had been rearranged. The room was starkly empty, the chairs removed on his behalf, and the desk had been moved to the side of the room, out of view of the door and in fact behind the hinges, so the door swung open in front of his desk, blocking anyone who may sneak a peek in his office a view of him at work. After a while, it was natural to be in the corner of a room closest to the hinges; where the coatrack or a rubbish bin would typically be, there instead was Martin Blackwood, comfortable, solitary. Alone.
The habits expanded outside of the office. Soon enough he was shopping at markets in the quietest hours: during the airings of football matches, at the early-morning markets, at two in the morning because he couldn’t sleep, couldn’t get warm under his duvet. His warm conversations with cashiers and barkers turned to solemn nods and gruff thank-yous, the refreshing smiles they associated with the sweater-clad figure reduced to slow blinks and nods of acknowledgement, and then not even that. They didn’t even wonder what had happened to that nice auburn-haired man who worked “down the street at the old spooky building, did-you-hear-about-those-worms?” Even takeout was too much to bear. The nights where leaving his flat was unconscionable, his delivery requests would always add, “leave outside the flat, tip is under the doormat.”
His neighbors didn’t remember him after a while. Mabel, the kind woman who lived across from him, introduced herself to him, asked when he moved in. Eventually she stopped noticing this new auburn man she hadn’t seen before. Hadn’t seen at all, actually. No one lived across the hall from her, not in her memory. And she had an excellent memory, didn’t-you-know? It was all those crosswords.
Martin started locking his doors. That had been after Jon had returned. He knew that distinctly. Most of these habits loomed over his life slowly, like an ever-expanding fog, until he didn’t realize where they had begun, but the doors? That was a choice.
He wasn’t one for locks overall; his childhood home had forbidden them, save for the exterior doors. It hadn’t bothered him back then, though, and as he grew up and out of the shadow of his mother it never occurred to him that he could just shut people out like that. So easy, so simple, but so unnecessary for so long. Martin was the one breaking down those barriers, especially at the Institute. Getting Sasha to talk about her anger when they first moved into the Archives, her quiet confession that she had wanted that job for so long, had been told by Gertrude she was a promising candidate. That had been fixed with a cup of tea and the promise that he would support her if she wanted to quit, but that it seemed like Tim needed her, Jon too. Getting Tim to open up about Danny, his sorrow that had been simmering so long under the surface, a grief Martin didn’t quite know how to fathom. But he tried, with comforting touches and warm voice, trying to ease Tim back from the precipice over which he had been hovering. Not enough. Never enough. Even Jon had begun to be kinder to him, after Prentiss, after Martin had proven he wasn’t a waste of space in the Archives, begun to be honest and open about his take on the weird things they experienced here. He had even texted him rather frequently, towards the end, updating him on his trip to America and of the occasional sights that caught his eye (‘In Pittsburgh they put chips on sandwiches and salads, Martin, look at this! Image_0102 attached’ Even in text, his grammar was impeccable.) But after Jon recovered from his coma, lapse with death, whatever it had been, Martin had been too far gone. He couldn’t risk Jon bursting in, bothering him, worrying and fussing. So he’d called in a locksmith to install the simple bolt, enough to stop a distracted, harried Archivist (who had never quite learned it was polite to knock) from bursting into his office at all hours.
But after all that, after the Lonely and Peter Lukas and “look at me and tell me what you see,” it was hard to break the achingly comfortable habits. For the first few days in Scotland, Martin didn’t really remember what had happened. While out of the domain itself, he was still trapped in its cloying embrace, and everything felt too real, too looming, too much; it had been easy to slip into silence for hours in Daisy’s safehouse. Too easy to pull the fog around him and watch himself sit, drawn up behind the door, as he watched and listened and waited for Jon to forget about him. It had never happened though. No matter how many hiding places he found, cold and dark and solitary, Jon always found him, blanket and tea in tow (always a little too sweet for Martin’s liking), and his scalding embrace was enough to drag him back to reality, shivering and sweating, whispering apologies.
-
They needed supplies. Daisy had left behind plenty of MREs in her pantry, stuff they could theoretically rely on, but it was all very basic nutritionary needs and both Martin and Jon were vegetarians, (more or less, Martin had stopped eating red meat as a teenager and Jon entirely after working in the Archives) and the dehydrated pasta alfredo was gone, seemingly the only vegetarian item in Daisy’s stock. Martin hadn’t even tried to touch the canned fruit, the orange-yellow of the peaches haunting him.
Martin suspected it was also a desperate attempt for the pair to practice feeling normal again. To be just two friends? Companions? Coworkers? Boyfriends? people stocking up their fridge and going on with a normal, non-horror filled life. A secluded, bare safehouse was certainly not helping them adjust any quicker, though neither man had dared leave quite yet, be it the risk of losing what little security they had accrued here or the inability to leave the other alone quite yet.
“Is-Do you know if it’s busy today?” Martin had asked, trying desperately to shape his voice into calm curiosity.
Jon considered the question for a minute, expression soft, and dear lord Martin wasn’t sure he would ever get used to the way Jon’s shadows seemed to darken and solidify when he Learned, his whole form shifting in and out of focus imperceptibly like the background was blending into him and not the other way round, the way Martin was accustomed.
“Mm, not bad. No one interesting. A couple families shopping for the week, twelve customers, four employees, total-oh, fourteen, mum and son just walked in…” Martin’s eyebrow was raised. “Ah,” Jon cleared his throat. “Sorry. Fourteen people. If that’s too many, I can go by myself, you know. I’m not going to force you.”
“N-no, no. I should go. Exposure therapy, right?”
Jon had smiled warmly and tentatively rested a hand on Martin’s shoulder, before sliding the hand, scarred and calloused, to squeeze Martin’s own cold one.
-
The grocery was small, a locally run place playing tinny jazz through the speakers. As Martin stepped through the doors with Jon, he was struck by how warm it was in the store. He could feel the prickle of anxiety burning under his skin, bringing a flush to his cheeks. He could hear the whine of the electric lights piercing his skull and settling behind his eyes. He gripped the trolley’s handle tight, firmly keeping his eyes forward. He was fine, he could do this.
Martin was not fine. They had worked their way through the aisles quickly, Jon using his Knowledge to figure out where every item they needed had been located. Martin was on autopilot, quietly steering the cart and flinching when anyone came to close to him. The heat of life was radiating off everyone in the store, even Jon, and it was scalding, blinding, debilitating. He hadn’t noticed Jon asking him a question until, Jon carefully, gingerly, brought his hand to hover near Martin’s cheek, not touching, just waiting for a response.
“Martin?” he heard distantly, calling him back to reality, where fog didn’t drift over the aisles and the soft rush of waves didn’t echo in his ears.
“-mm?” The hand was gone, his skin tingled with the rush of cold returning to his face. He wished it would come back, to hold his face and promise it would be alright.
“I was wondering what tea you wanted to buy? I’m no expert and I know you have your preferences. I miss-” Jon cleared his throat. “I’ve missed your tea in the Archives. All the staff drank coffee after you left. Disgusting.”
Tea. This was something Martin could do. He took a step away from the trolley, his life raft, and studied the aisles, trying to will his mind to focus.
Tea, tea, tea. Rooibos and chamomile for sleepless nights. Herbal for variety. Jon likes caffeinated teas. Maybe some chai? That’ll be good when it gets really cold…god how long will we be here? Through winter? Forever? He could stay here forever if it meant Jon was there too.
He grabbed a couple of boxes of familiar brands, throwing them in the trolley, as well as whatever felt familiar, what he’d usually pick up.
“I thought you didn’t like oolong.”
Martin frowned, glancing down at the box in his hand. “I don’t. Uh, force of habit I guess.” He set the box back quickly, as if it was burning his hand. “M’mum liked it so I would pick it up for her. Guess its been a while…” he trailed off, uncertain of what he was about to say. He’s bought tea since she died, hasn’t he?
He thinks back, through all his months in Elias’s office and at home.
Oh. Guess not.
Had he really not drunk tea at all? God, he had really changed more than he thought under the influence of Peter. Tea had been such a staple of his life, his personality, he was the one dragging Jon and Sasha and Tim to teahouses for his birthday and insisting he make a cuppa for everyone on the days that felt too dark. The last time he could remember holding a warm cup of tea in his hands was when he was sitting at Jon’s bedside in the hospital, reading him Keats in the desperate hope he would hate it so much he would wake up, even if just to scold his assistant.
Martin knew serving The Lonely had changed him. But here, in the aisle of a Scottish grocery, he was realizing how entirely debased he had become. Was he even Martin Blackwood anymore?
Martin blinked to see the grocery around him cloaked in fog. No, that wasn’t right. He was cloaked in fog. The world was a pale blue-grayscale, slightly translucent. He hadn’t been here in a while but the cool balm over his anxiety settled like cool cloth and he felt distantly quiet. Calm.  He left the store in a haze and began the slow trudge up to the safehouse. Jon wasn’t here in this place, which was probably for the best. Martin couldn’t hurt him here, couldn’t burden him with whatever pesky emotions he had felt in the grocery, whatever they had been. They were a distant memory now, oolong and guilt.
-
By the time Martin had hiked up the hill to the safehouse, he felt safe enough to leave the Lonely, and felt the cool numbness drift off him like steam as the world sharpened around him. With the world came the sharp sting of his realization came with it; the understanding that he wasn’t the same person he had been when he had said goodbye to Tim, Melanie, and Jon, and certainly not the same person he had been when he had backed through the doors to the Institute and let that dog in, what felt like decades ago now.
Martin Blackwood let the door swing shut behind him as he made his way inside, hearing the rumble of Jon’s car rolling up the gravel driveway. He moved quickly through the house, looking desperately for a place to escape as he heard the faint call of his name outside. He couldn’t-he just couldn’t talk to Jon right now; he didn’t know how to explain how betrayed he felt and by on fault but his own. The closest room was the bathroom, dark and clean, and pressed back against the door as he clicked the door shut, turning the latch on the door.
Click.
The bolt slid into the mechanism of the door frame, and that sound was what sent Martin spiraling.
he was alone he was alone he was alone.

What is Bubble Tea?
Bubble tea, often referred to as boba tea, is a Taiwanese-originated beverage that has gained immense popularity worldwide. It's a delightful concoction characterized by its sweet, flavored tea base, chewy tapioca pearls, and the unique addition of bubbles. These bubbles, also known as "boba" or "pearls," are made from tapioca starch and give the drink its signature texture.
What is Boba Made Of?
Tapioca pearls, the star of bubble tea, are made from tapioca starch, which is extracted from the roots of the cassava plant. To make tapioca pearls, tapioca starch is mixed with water to form a dough, which is then rolled into small balls. These balls are cooked until they become soft and chewy, creating the delightful texture that bubble tea enthusiasts love. popping boba near me
How Do You Make Boba?
Making boba at home requires tapioca pearls, which you can find in many grocery stores or order online. Follow the instructions on the packaging for cooking these pearls. Typically, you'll need to boil them until they float to the surface, then simmer for a few more minutes until they reach your desired consistency. Afterward, drain and rinse them in cold water to prevent sticking.
What Are the Bubbles in Bubble Tea?
The bubbles in bubble tea are the result of mixing the tea with various ingredients, such as milk, fruit juices, or flavored syrups. When shaken vigorously or blended, these ingredients create a frothy layer on top, giving the drink its bubbly appearance.
What is Bubble Milk Tea?
Bubble milk tea is a popular variation of bubble tea that includes milk in its recipe. It combines sweetened tea, milk, and tapioca pearls to create a creamy and slightly sweet beverage that appeals to many taste buds.  what is bubble in bubble tea
How to Cook Tapioca Pearls for Bubble Tea
Cooking tapioca pearls is a simple process. Boil a pot of water, add the pearls, and stir occasionally. When they start to float, lower the heat and simmer for about 15-20 minutes. The pearls should become soft but still have a chewy texture. Drain and rinse them in cold water to cool them down.
How to Make Boba Bubbles
To create the characteristic bubbles in bubble tea, you'll need to vigorously shake or blend your beverage. You can use a cocktail shaker, a blender, or even a sealed container to achieve the desired frothiness.
How to Prepare Boba
Now that you have your cooked tapioca pearls, you can prepare your bubble tea. First, select your tea base, whether it's black, green, or a fruit tea. Brew your tea and let it cool to room temperature. Then, add your choice of sweeteners, milk or non-dairy alternatives, and flavorings, like fruit syrups or purees. Finally, add the cooked tapioca pearls, ice cubes, and shake or blend to create the bubbles.
What is Pearl Tea?
Pearl tea is another term for bubble tea or boba tea, often used to describe the drink's unique appearance due to the tapioca pearls.
What is in Boba Milk Tea?
Boba milk tea typically consists of brewed tea (commonly black or green tea), milk (regular or non-dairy), sweeteners (like sugar or honey), and, of course, the star ingredient – tapioca pearls.
