Every little thing they did somehow made his voicebox glitch and his system overheat, making so far that he trips once or twice
that day, was the happiest day on his life, meeting them felt like a blessing, really, maybe its love at first sight? he cant tell
His eyes glued to (name) who is currentky chatting away with the kids, helping them make some arts and crafts, while help those who wants to go to the slide
Colourful paints stuck on their hair, mix of blue, yellow and red, their eyelashes surrounded by glitter, bloches of glitter glue on their face while some googly eyes stuck to their aprons

Sun only watches in happiness, his permanent looking smile relaxed lightly, he feels a warm numbing feeling in his chest, a tint of red on his face because of his slightly overheating system

everything they do, he adores, every smile they give, he returns, every comments they made, he takes it into heart, even if he doesn't have a heart

Snapping out of his little lovegaze, (name)'s son (son's name), called out to him, he turns his head to the side and replied with his smile
"Yes! What is it friend?!"
He replies excitedly, (son's name) fiddles a little before pulling out a sheet of paper

Sun jumped hapily and (son's name) complied, trailing behind him holding his hand and made their way to hung tye drawing
"Oh? Hello sun, hello (son's name), where are you guys going?"
"Oh! Mom/dad/parent! We're going to hung my drawing!"
(Name) smiled at the drawing, their eyes soften at the cute messy crayon colored paper before asking to join them
the three made their way, small talks and little stories is said and heard, (name) laughs at (son's name)'s little story, while sun just stares at them with heart eyes

Monster Hunter Rise: 2nd Trailer and news blowout
Hey guys this is Gaijinhunter. I am uploading this as a text post since I caught a cold and have been unable to edit a video.
There was a huge second wave of news for Monster Hunter Rise with the reveal of the 2nd trailer the other day during the Game Awards 2020 show. Keep in mind the actual full length trailer is much longer and better than the shorter edit they showed during the show so makes sure you watch it. It showcased a second map, 2 new monsters, several returning monsters, and more. They also updated their official website with a ton of information so instead of doing a trailer reaction or breakdown, I am going to give you all the info they shared but split up by category, trying to focus only on the new stuff.
New Map
Director Ichinose hinted in an interview that one of the new maps would be nostalgic and boy he wasn't kidding. The Flooded Forest from Third Generation has been massively remade and is back in MH rise. Of course given this game’s focus is verticality, there is no underwater combat sections but they really nailed it from what I can see. One of the most iconic parts of the forest was the ruins in the backgrounds, and now you can scale up it using the wirebug. How cool is that.
With the new map we also got the reveal of 2 new monsters.
First up is the mermaid wyvern, the Somnacanth. This marks the much hyped return of the leviathan class of monsters which were missing in world and iceborne. This Monster looks so wild. It has a special breath that will put you to sleep, is super aggressive, and has this crazy taiko drum like chest in which it will grab oysters and other things and bust them against it to break them open and buff itself. The Japanese name is quite a mouthful and is called Isonemikuni. This is the monster that Ichinose teased with his cute drawing on twitter.
Next up is the tengu beast, Bishaten. This monster is really unique, it looks like a mix of a monkey, bat, and bird. It has a huge and powerful tail it uses for massive mobility and it will chuck various fruits at you as well. One of the most iconic fruits it throws are persimmons, which are very Japanese and if you haven’t had them before, they are kind of an acquired taste. It’s Japanese name is Bishutendo.
For returning monsters we have a few. First is our favorite sponge, the Royal Ludroth. This is a fan favorite and a great early to mid game monster. It has one of the best move sets in my opinion, very telegraphed but it can still catch you off guard even if you are super used to it. Strategically figuring gout where to stand in order to cut off its tail or break the sponge has always been really fun and intersting so I’m delighted to see this monster return, also look at that texture of the sponge!
Then we got the return of the Great Wroggi, the anti-poison skill tutorial monster. This thing really messed me up back in MH3G until I spent the time to get the materials to craft anti-posion decorations and even then, like the Great Izuchi, it fights really well with its sidekick small wroggis and I cant wait to see the improved cooperative AI that they are making for the Great Izuchi applied to this monster as well. It’s armor also spots a really cool Crocodile Dundee hat and look in the trailer and you can see the palico armor as well. So cool.
Finally, we got a small scene that appears to show a snow map and a group of baggi getting hit by a Khezu lightening shot. Does this mean the Great Baggi will return? Not sure. But that scream 100% is a Khezu, and I cannot wait to see how it looks with higher resolution texturing, I bet it will be creepy as heck. So while not technically confirmed, I’d say it’s safe to say Khezu is returning in some form. The balance of all these monsters is so great, I love the selection so far.
As far as other returning monsters that might return, I think we all expect nargacuga and zinogre. These are flagship monsters from games directed by Ichinose and he even tweeted his palamute and palico both named after these two monsters. Especially given the Japanese aesthetic, I think it’s pretty much guaranteed they are returning. Then I think mizutsune is also highly likely given its Japanese design, the fox theme, the kimono armor. Plus the model for it doesn't look that far off from the new Somnacanth. Anyway I have super hyped.
Interaction with animals and endemic life
One of the huge features of Monster Hunter Rise is the focus on wild life and animals to buff your hunter or be used as tools during a hunt.
There are 4 major types of Endemic Life: Temp Buffer, Permabuffer, Hunting Helper, and environmental.
For Permabuffer, we got a new render of the Spiribirds, which will buff your hunter if you move near one, and the effects depend on the color of the pollen it is carrying. Green increases your max Health, Orange increases your defense, red increases your attack power, and yellow increases your max stamina. There is even a special rainbow colored one, which I assume will buff all 4.
Via their website, Capcom announced a new item called the Petalace, a bracelet made of a plant called a Sending Sprig that each hunter has equipped. This is what collects the pollen from the birds and buffs your hunter. There is a variety of Petalaces in the game and some may increase the amount in which an attack boost is applied from a single Spiribird, raise the max value that health can be boosted, and more. Here in the screen shot we can see the caps for each and the amount gained for each buff. Just a quick note but this is not going to be replacing charms as we know that they are giving away a talisman for pre-order.
For Temp Buffer creatures, they revealed the name of the Clothfly, a butterfly that will temporarily increase your defense once you interact with it and cause it to generate a cloud of dust. In previous videos we have seen Peepers that reduce stamina usage, birds that raise your base stats, and a dragonfly that boosts your affinity and I had calculated it out to being applied for 90 seconds but we’ll have to wait for hte final game to see if that depends on the effect or if they change it, but it sounds about right.
For Hunting Helper creatures, we got an adorable new render of the Stinkmink. You can carry up to 5 Hunting Helpers and use them like items. The Stinkmink can be used to cover yourself in a special pheromone that will attract large monsters to you, even allowing you to lure one monster toward another to cause a turf war. I personally can think of other applications like luring a monster toward a trap and stuff like that.
And for environmental endemic life, they didn't show it in the trailer but there are also wildlife that can be used like environmental traps. For example, use raw meat and the giganha fish will go crazy, damaging anything nearby be it a hunter or monster. I can’t wait to see someone hunt a Great Wroggi using only raw meat. I love that we finally will have more use for this item.
NPCs
In the new trailer we got to hear several of the NPC villagers talking and on the website they go into a lot more details. They have quite the star-studded cast in Japanese and the English voice actors are also very interesting picks. This really marks the first time in Monster Hunter that the main cast of villagers will all be called by name and speak, which I think adds a lot of personality to the game.
First we have Fugen the village elder of Kamura and skilled long sword user.
Then we have Hinoa the Quest Maiden, a cheerful and optimistic girl who serves as the quest giver in the village while her twin sister runs the gathering hub. While not announced in any other language, the French and Italian language sites for the game list her sister’s name as Minoto. Hinoa’s name is Hinoe in Japnaese and for the rest of the cast their names are identical between the two languages.
One thing I am excited for is that they said that one of the ways they will help communicate the uniqueness of Kamura is through songs and they shared a sample of one of them in the full trailer. This one is sung by Izumi Kato. If you remember back in Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate they featured songs by the wyverian Diva, and I am so happy they decided to do songs again, they add so much richness to the world and are just lovely to listen to.
Next up is Yomogi, our village chef. In this game you will eat meals at her Tea Shop, where her speciality is the Bunny Dango she makes along with the help of some palicoes. I love that we’ve seen her in past videos with a heavy bowgun, so the idea that all the villagers are active participants in the story is great.
Then we have Hamon the blacksmith. He used to hunt alongside Fugen back in the day but now creates weapons for the hunters of the village. His grandson also appears in the game and is a kind-hearted youth that loves your hunting companions.
Next is Kagero the merchant. Despite his mysterious appearance he is actually very warm and kind. If there is a sale going on, not only can you buy most items for half off, but you can also participate in a lottery where you spin a wheel and it dispenses a colored ball. Get a rare color ball to win a rare prize. You can do it once per sale, but you can also scan an amiibo to spin two more times, but only once per day per amiibo you own.
Finally we have Komitsu the sweet-tooth, she sells candy apples in town. What these do is still not yet revealed.
Companions
We got an adorable render for the Cohoot, the pet owl that shows the positions of monsters on your map. You can interact with it in the town and even dress them up in fancy outfits.
Kamura Village
We got gameplay showing that the entire village is open to the 4 person multiplayer session and you can even ride around on your palamute and use your wirebug while in the village to zip around and have fun. There is still a gathering hall but the ability to see each other in the village as well as jump around and really explore it is a lovely change they are making.
Story wise we got more info about the Rampage, both a story mechanic and new quest type. For some reason the monsters will sometimes gang up and attack the village all at once and no one knows why. They call this a Rampage. There was a really bad rampage 50 years ago that nearly destroyed the village and in response the town has created a Stronghold to stop further invasions. This looks like a new quest type with multiple monsters all at once, and a slew of different artillery options at your disposal. I could see this as being a really fun type of quest to do online with other players.
And of course the most exciting news was that there will be a demo in January with more details to come later. That is far earlier than I expected and I now have to finish up my back catalogue of games in like the next month.
And that about wraps it up. Cpacom said that they will be sharing weapon preview videos for all 14 types very soon and if they do the way they used to do it, we’ll get one new video a day for 2 weeks. Waiting to love you a latte
Here’s hoping I can actually do this whole month. Sorry this fic isn’t the best, hopefully tomorrow will be better.
Coffee Shop
Keith mindlessly cleaned the coffee machine, trying to do something to occupy himself in the very empty shop. Lance had his head resting on the pastry display case. They were the only ones on schedule and the only ones in the store. The weather wasn’t even bad outside but the shop was completely empty of any caffeine deprived people, leaving the two workers with nothing to do.
“That machine any cleaner than it was 20 minutes ago?” Lance asked.
“Have you finally made an imprint on the case yet?” Keith sassed.
“Leave me alone, I’m bored.” Lance whined. “There’s nothing to do and we can’t go back home cause Kolivan will kill us if we close up early without his permission.”
“Which we won’t get.” Keith moaned.
“Exactly.” Lance said, finally getting off the display case and using his hand to smooth the smug out. He wasn’t in the mood to actually clean it. That was a problem for later. Now though, he wanted to find something to do. He pulled open the drawers and pulled out all their markers and then went to the back and grabbed a new sleeve of hot sleeves. Keith gave Lance a confused look as he dropped them on the counter and dragged one of the stools behind the counter over.
“What are you doing?”
“Well we have to refill the hot sleeves at the end of the day anyway, let’s have some fun with it.”
Keith knew this is where he should reject the idea, but…he was really bored. Besides, he and Lance would be doing something together, like it wasn’t enough that they had shifts together. Keith wouldn’t deny his crush on Lance. Not when he knew that Lance felt the same, and he wasn’t being smug about that. Lance had promised his mother that he wouldn’t date anyone during the school year and they figured out their feelings near the middle of the semester. Lance was keeping his promise but would still flirt with Keith, paying him compliments or insist on pressing up against him more than necessary during their busier hours.
“Only a few more weeks till the end of the school year.” Lance would say more often now, like he had to remind Keith only a few more weeks before they had a chance to finally date. Part of him worried it wouldn’t be the same, but until they got there, he wouldn’t question it. Just look forward to it.
Keith started a complicated layered drawing of a flower while Lance passes by with cat faces, music notes and mermaid tails. Lance had started a drawing of a detailed blaster when he leaned over and opened the pastry case and pulled out an apricot and blueberry tart.
“You’re gonna get in trouble for that.” Keith said.
“You gonna tell on me?” Lance teased.
“If I don’t get any I will.”
Lance let Keith take a bite of the pastry before taking a bit out of the same spot, staring Keith down.
“Do you ever wonder,” Keith asked as he finished his flower and moved on to a flame, “if the wait will be worth it?”
“What do you mean?”
“I mean with us. We know we like the other person but what if the wait wasn’t worth it?”
“I think of it like an actual relationship, you never know how it’s gonna turn out and besides, this way we have more time to get to know each other.” Lance pointed out.
Keith couldn’t disagree with that. He knew that Lance was scared of big dogs so he had slowly introduced his own dog Kosmo instead of just letting him surprise Lance completely. Lance learned that Keith hated having to wait for a really time. With getting the chance to know the other person’s flaws, it made things pretty clear if they were right for each other. Keith would agree that even with their differences, he still really liked Lance. So as much as he complained and worried about having the wait, he admitted it helped him like Lance more.
“’Sides, most people give up about two weeks in, you’ve stuck around for a long time. Trust me, if that doesn’t make you think I still won’t want to be with you, I don’t know what will.”
“Guess it’s good I don’t like to give up.”
“Thank goodness for that.” Lance said feeding Keith the last bite of the tart.
They continued drawing on the hot sleeves when someone finally came in. Shiro and his boyfriend Adam were regulars who kind of knew that the two baristas liked each other.
“You two look like your having fun.” Shiro said, watching Lance draw a chibi version of Keith’s dog Kosmo and hearts.
“There’s nothing to do, leave us alone.” Lance whined, as Keith got up like a responsible barista.
“Then can we get our regular orders?” Shiro asked.
Lance pulled out the cups and let the two patrons choose a marked hot sleeve before handing it to Keith to make the drinks before going back to work on the different hot sleeves.
“So, have the two of you started dating yet.” Adam asked as he watched Lance continue his dog drawing.
“It’s not the end of the school year yet. But don’t worry,” Lance said, looking over his shoulder at Keith, “it’ll happen soon. Until then, I guess I’ll just have to be happy with this small coffee shop flirting.”

Ocean Soldier (Part 3 out of ?)
(A/N): Haaaaa, this one is so bad and it changed perspective between (Y/N) and Bucky a lot so I'm so sorry about that...
Summary: (Y/N) happens to come across a rather friendly mermaid

You were frozen with shock, your face completely numb as Bucky speaks his first words to you.
His blue eyes bore into yours and you swear you can see a smudge of guilt in them, or perhaps that was your wishful thinking.
"B-Bucky," Your voice shakes so much you can barely get the words out but Bucky's soft coos gently begin to soothe you, enough to the point your tears began to dry and your breathing evened out and you could finally speak properly.
Even with your now calmer state, the dry cheeks, the steady breaths, Bucky keeps his hand on your cheek, his thumb gently swiping along your skin.
"Where did you go?" You ask softly, not so brokenly anymore, just sad and distraught.
"I-I panicked, I didn't know what to do. I-I shouldn't even be here right now, it's against the rules and-"
"Bucky, you're not making any sense," You look at him with furrowed brows and a cocked head, showing your confusion. Bucky sighs gently, the cuts on his neck puffing in and out as he does so.
"(Y/N) I can't keep visiting you, it's dangerous, for both of us. That's why I was so scared the first day, the day you rescued me. I'm not even supposed to be by the docks, much less caught in a net. I was afraid someone of my cove was going to come and-"
"wait...a cove? Like a- like a cove of a fish?"
"I've said too much already..." Bucky's hand slides from your face, leaving you feeling more hallow and alone than you had felt in a long time. "I should've just stayed away-"
"Bucky wait-" You slide to the end of the dock, desperately trying to cling onto him. "Where are you going?"
"I can't tell you...you know too much already-"
"Bucky I hardly know a thing-"
"They'll hurt you if they find out I've been up here?"
"Who's 'they'?"
"(Y/N), I really cant stay-"
"Bucky please don't leave me-" You stop short when suddenly two hands cup your cheeks, the same slimy, cold ones that you had grown to love but what truly takes you off guard was the fact there was another pair of lips pressed to yours. Bucky was kissing you. He was finally kissing you.
His lips were soft, wet, cold, but they were oh so perfect, they felt like they were made to fit directly with yours, like two pieces of a puzzle.
You sigh against his lips, scooting a little closer as his lips move against yours so sweetly and so softly you could almost weep but before you could Bucky was pulling away and disappearing into the water once again, leaving you all alone.
You sit there dumbfounded for a few minutes, staring a the spot he had just disappeared to but no matter how much you stared at it you simply couldn't make sense of what had just happened. A man you had known for a total of three weeks just kissed you after he went on and on about how dangerous it was to even be talking to you, and then suddenly he disappears again? You hadn't seen him in three fucking weeks, he shows up for a minute and then leaves again? You groan angrily as you flip back against the dock, staring up at the sky as tears burn at your eyes. Only this time you knew that a certain dark haired man wasn't going to show up to wipe them away.
(Bucky’s p.o.v)
Bucky watched from afar as (Y/N) packed up their things, angrily wiped their tears and stomped away, limping on their still shredded feet. He felt horrible, of course he did. He'd grown to love- no, not love, love wasn't permitted among his kind, only survival and lust- he'd grown to care for (Y/N) very deeply and to see them so hurt over something he had done truly hurt him. Watching them those three weeks was absolute hell, he could barely stand to watch from a distance, to watch them sing and play whatever they had been playing, to watch them give up on drawing, to watch them slowly lose that smile they always held. He had to do something- he had to apologize, tell them what was wrong-
"Bucky-" A sudden voice hisses to him, making the merman flip around.
Floating just a few feet beyond him was the all too familiar face of Natasha, the most cutthroat fish in the sea. Nat was a part of his cove, as was a number of other mercreatures, but she by far was the scariest. Not even Steve, the leader and commander of the cove was as fear inducing as Nat.
"What the hell are you doing up here?" Her gills fluttered as she breathed in angrily, making her much more intimidating than usual.
"Nothing," Bucky whispers back, hoping that she wouldn't notice that he was lying.
"Rogers will kill you if he finds you up here, it's broad fucking daylight,"
"I know that Nat, Bucky mutters through gritted fangs, restraining himself just enough so he didn't end up ripping Nat's throat to pieces.
"What if someone sees you? What then?"
"I know Nat, I just needed some air, I'm still human after all,"
"Yeah," Nat mutters in disgust. "I know. Now lets get going before Steve has both of our asses," Natasha sucks under the water, her shimmering red tail surfacing from the water for only a moment before disappearing back under the rippling waves.
"Neither of us even have asses," Bucky grumbles as he takes one last look at the docks, at the place he once used to be happy. He'd find a way to apologize to (Y/N)- he just needed time.
(Your point of view)
You knew coming back to the docks was wishful thinking, Bucky had told you he wouldn't be coming back and yet every morning you found yourself drawn to the same dock.
For weeks, much longer than the precious three, you rose at sunrise and came down to the docks, sat on your designated piece of wood and waited. You'd sing, draw, maybe read a little bit but no matter what you did Bucky never came back. You even tried at night and still there was no sign of your friend. After weeks of waiting you were starting to lose hope again, no matter how hard you tried to hold onto those last glimmers of it it was just slipping away.
At this point it was pointless to even wait for Bucky anymore, it was obvious we was never coming back and yet you kept on coming. Perhaps your persistence would pay off in the end? Maybe Bucky really would come back, he'd apologize and explain why he'd left and then the two of you would go back to being Friends? You scoffed as you walked down the docks for who knows what time. Wishful thinking hadn't gotten you anywhere so far so why should it suddenly start now-
Your train of thought stops immediately as you stop at your dock, the dock. You didn't know what you were expecting but a large, white seashell most definitely wasn't it. You furrow your brows as you stoop to pick the shell up; It was shiny, pearly white, and absolutely gorgeous. You smile softly as you run your fingers along it's smooth layers, nearly shivering at it's cold temperature. It must have just come out of the ocean- You stop once again, looking down at the shell in shock. There was only one person who could have done this; Bucky.
You knew it was a long shot but you couldn't help but think that your ocean loving friend had left a little present for you. You smile as you hold the shell close to your heart, being careful not to break it.
"Thank you Bucky," you whisper to the ocean, hoping your dark haired friend could hear you and it may have been your imagination but you could've sworn your heard the ocean whisper back, "You're welcome," From that day on every time you came to the docks there was a little prize waiting for you, a pearl here, some cool knickknack there, maybe a plant of some sort another day.
That’s when your truly knew it was Bucky, who else was considerate enough to Leave little trinkets for you to find, no one.
Your collection was really starting to grow, you'd been accumulating quite a bit of sea treasures form your mysterious friend. You did feel a bit guilty, he kept bringing you all these amazing gifts and yet you had nothing to give him. You could draw him something, maybe write him a song, bake him some food, anything would suffice. You thought about it for a bit as you sat on the dock on particular day, listening to soft waves of the ocean as you plucked at some strings on your guitar.
Your parents had always had some more- eccentric kind if foods. Perhaps you could bake him a little something and bring it by, that is if the gulls and fishes didn’t get to it first. You smile victoriously as you pack your guitar up, a new kind of determination running through your veins. Millions of ideas raced through your mind as you walked back home, perhaps a nice bread, maybe some form of desert or pasta? You figured it had to be something that didn’t spoil easily, something that could withstand the poor beach temperatures.
An idea came to mind and you smiled as you scurried home, wasting no time in baking your little surprise.
(Bucky’s point of view)
Bucky looked up at the rippling water, the sun shimmering through the deep blue. He missed the surface- he missed having legs, being able to walk around, eat natural foods, he missed being able to interact with a species that wasn't so vicious. Bucky sighs, or sighs as well he could as a mermaid could in the ocean. His lungs burned slightly as he tried to breathe in, as he hated to remind everyone, he was still partly human.
Years ago, back in the 1940's he had been a soldier for the US military and one day a mission ended up going poorly and he found himself stranded in the middle of the ocean. He was freezing, his crew was dead, he was the only one left, just floating in an endless expanse of hell. Luckily (or so he thought at the time) a blonde haired man came to save him (again, or so he thought at the time). The man had looked so kind, with blue eyes and a warm smile but Bucky quickly realized that it was no warm smile, it was full of hunger and malice but before he could truly find time to be scared the man pounced upon him and dragged him down below.
There was a sharp sting in his neck and Bucky realized that the deranged man was biting him, he was fucking biting him. He remembered struggling but the man was far stronger, he kept on dragging Bucky down until he couldn't breathe, until his lungs ached and burned, until he thought he was going to die of the pressure.
His world was slowly fading to black, he could see the sea above him slowly fading, he could feel his entire body go numb but just as his body was close to giving in to the comforting dark everything suddenly snapped back to life. He could suddenly breathe, he could see the rippling sea and the pieces of wreckage floating above, he could see the blonde man swimming, no, floating, beside him except Bucky quickly realized that it was no man. Not a single man Bucky had ever met had a tail and yet this man did. It was shimmering silver, just like his eyes; It was long and thick, just like he was and it gently flicked back and forth through the water, helping the man float. Then Bucky remembered looking down at his own body and seeing a tail just like the man's only blue, shimmering blue. That's how Bucky came to be what he was today, some kind of ocean freak. Only there was one small setback, he was still partly human.
Steve, the mermaid that day, hadn't bitten him correctly, leaving some wiggle room for his human form to creep back in. That meant that at any given moment he could change back into a human. He had wanted to do it a billion times but every time he so much thought about it his cove would threaten him into staying, they'd intimidate him, beat him some more, make threats that sent shivers down his spine. In the end he decided it wasn’t worth it to try and be human once again. Since he was a mutt, as so gently put by the Cove's second in command; Sam, He wasn't like the other mercreatures, they were pure breads, he was a mutt, a filthy piece of bottom feeder scum who amounted to nothing in sea life.
Other members of his cove often liked to remind him of the fact that he was partly human, that he was a disgrace to their cove. They treated him poorly, he was abused, starved, left to fend for himself half the time. His cove hated him, the people who had damned him to this life hated him. (Y/N) had never hate him, never treated him poorly, they made him feel wanted and safe, they made him feel like he mattered. They were sad for fucks sake when he disappeared, that's more than his cove had ever amounted to.
(Y/N) was something special, that's why he couldn't be with them, that's why he had to stay away. If anyone from his cove found out that he was talking with a surface dweller it would be the end of them, and it'd be all his fault. He couldn't risk losing (Y/N), he'd do anything to keep them safe, even if that meant going against his every instinct and leaving them alone. Thankfully he had some way of staying connected with them, the little prizes he left them every night. (Y/N) still came to the dock every morning even though Bucky had stopped coming. Every morning they'd stop, smile at the small gifts he'd leave them, then utter a quiet "thank you" to the ocean and every damn time Bucky would respond with an equally quiet "You're welcome."
Bucky's grip unconsciously gripped the small necklace he held in his hand, the next gift he had for (Y/N). It was his dog tags, the ones from the war. They had his name printed on them, his position, and his number. It was the only thing he had of his old self but he wanted (Y/N) to have it, they'd benefit from it more than he ever would.
Bucky's eyes roamed up to the watery sky, it was almost pitch black but luckily he could see as though it were broad daylight, one perk to being a merman. It was night, maybe midnight or sometime later. It was illogical that anyone would be out at such a time but as Bucky rose to the surface, his head popping up from the dark depths he was more than surprised to see someone sitting on the docks; aka (Y/N).
Bucky bit his lip as he surveyed them, shivering, a blanket of some sort wrapped tightly around their body. Soft lights twinkled around their body and it was impossible for him not to swim closer. He knew he shouldn't have, he had just told them he couldn't ever return and yet he found himself venturing closer and closer until suddenly his webbed hands were upon the dock and he was staring up at (Y/N)'s face.
"You came back," (Y/N) whispers, almost in disbelief if Bucky thought about it. Bucky nods softly, biting his lip as he stared at the dock sheepishly.
"I wanted to thank you for the gifts," (Y/N) suddenly smiles, a smile Bucky had longed to see for weeks, nearly months. Bucky smiles softly, his pale, wet cheeks dusting a soft pink.
"Did you like them?" He asks quietly, meekly.
"I loved- love them, especially that shell," Bucky smiles, his blush only growing.
"I thought of you when you found it. I remember thinking how beautiful it was, just like you," Now it was (Y/N)'s turn to blush, their cheeks dusting a rather dark red.
"Really?" Bucky nods, smiling softly at the fact that he- a filthy human as stated by his cove- was able to make (Y/N) blush and smile.
"I never thought I'd get the chance to tell you in person..." Bucky whispers as he stares at his hands, at the web in between his fingers.
"I think you're beautiful too," (Y/N) whispers back, their tone soft and full of a kind of fondness that Bucky hasn't experienced in years. Bucky looks up from the dock, his eyes wide and full of surprise.
"You really think so?" (Y/N) nods, smiling at Bucky in a way that had his stomach up in knots. "From the moment I laid eyes on you," Bucky could feel his entire face heat up, straight to the tip of his pointed ears. (Y/N) thought Bucky was beautiful, the most amazing thing he'd ever laid eyes on thought he was beautiful.
(Y/N) looks to their hands, biting their lip as a wide smile threatened to overtake their features. Bucky had distracted them so much they had almost forgot about the "gift" they had brought him. Almost.
"But um- I wanted to thank you for the gifts by giving you one of my own," (Y/N) slides a plate of something towards Bucky, smiling at him gently. "Unfortunately I don't have any cool little knick knacks like you do but I sure as hell can cook so I figured why not bake you something?" Bucky looks at the plate of food longingly; it'd been so long since he had a proper human meal and since he was the weakest link in the cove he was rarely ever fed so having something so tantalizing placed just a few feet before him was pure torture. "I wanted something simple so I just made some fish. I uh- I hope you eat fish..."
"Wait...I'm allowed to eat this?" (Y/N) chuckles softly, nodding their head once again.
"Yes Bucky, I made them for you,"
"...It's really okay?"
"Yes Bucky," (Y/N) nudges the plate closer. "It's really okay," (Y/N) gives Bucky a reassuring smile as he reaches a webbed hand out to the plate, casting one more glance at (Y/N) before gingerly picking a cooked fish up. It looked...different from how he remembered but god- he wanted to eat it so fucking bad. He raised it to his lips and took a tentative little bite. Almost immediately flavor burst in his mouth, something he hadn't had the pleasure of eating in years (the sea didn’t offer many spices). A soft moan of delight pushed past his lips as he took another bite and another and another until all the fish was gone.
"Does it taste okay?"
"Oh my god yes," Bucky moans, nodding immediately. "I haven't had food like that in years," (Y/N) smiles victoriously, proud of their own little accomplishment.
"Tomorrow I'll have to bring you some other food, that is, if you're still here..."
"With cooking like this hell yeah I'm coming back," (Y/N) smiles and laughs, making Bucky's heart warm within his chest.
"Glad I've persuaded you to stay, I've really missed you,"
"I've- I've missed you too..." Bucky whispers as he licks his lips, looking up at (Y/N) with a fond look in his eyes.
"I'm sorry I scared you away...hopefully the food makes up for my mistake,"
"no, it was my fault really, I shouldn't have left so abruptly, I should've given you an explanation first."
"Was it-" (Y/N) sighs, looking at their hands as they do. Their mood had immediately dropped, going from happy and bubbly to nervous and remorseful. "Was it because if what I asked?" Bucky knew it was coming. He knew sooner or later he was going to have answer their question. He was constantly in the water, he had gills for fucks sake, he was surprised (Y/N) hadn't asked earlier but now they were and this time he had to tell the truth.
(Y/N) was the only person- both on land and sea- who treated him well, it was time he started doing the same. Bucky nods softly, casting his gaze down towards his webbed hands.
"I'm so sorry Bucky- I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable,"
"No," Bucky whispers, interrupting (Y/N) before they could say anything else. "The answer to your question is no," (Y/N) falls silent for a moment, obviously taken aback by Bucky's intrusion. It takes a few moments for it to click but when it does (Y/N)'s eyes widen and their lips part in shock. They gently clear their throat, closing their lips and blinking a bit to compose themself.
"Can you- can you tell me what you are then? You don't have to answer, I don't want to scare you off again-" No. Bucky needed to tell the truth. He needed someone to know who he was, what he was, what had happened to him, he needed to let someone in, he needed to stop hiding and he needed to start telling the truth.
Bucky sighed, opened his mouth to answer but before he could the water around him became frantic, as though swarmed with a million fishes. The water crashed against the dock wildly, making it impossible to see a single thing. Bucky ducked under the water, in. No mood for the waves to smack him against the dock. The strange thing was underneath the water he could barely see a thing either, the sea was dark and murky for once and it was impossible to even see his own hands. Eventually the waves settled and Bucky rose back to the surface, shaking his wet hair out of his face.
"(Y/N), are you okay?" Bucky asked as his eyes adjusted to the not murky atmosphere. He squinted as he looked around, trying to spot his land walking friend only there was a problem; they were no longer there. The waves had settled and when they had (Y/N) was no longer sitting on the dock....

Hey! Regarding your mer!Lance AU, Blue claim him and stuff but... How will he pilot her with his fishy tail? Does he sort of can dry it to make them shift to legs or will they... idk fill Blue cockpit with water?? (this idea is stupid I know... it was funnier in my head actually) I'm kinda curious about this part! And also, will Pidge be extra curious and ask a ton of stuff to Lance to try to understand his species because "holyshit he's a mermaid!"?? Love your AU btw and the cute doodle for it!
OKAY SO BE WARNED BUT THIS IS BASICALLY SPOILERS FOR HOW THE MER!LANCE AU ENDS
So in the begining of the Mer!lance au, lance really cant pilot the blue lion. Both in the sense he doesnt know how to pilot anything and he cant actually get in the cockpit
So the story goes is that while blue has choosen her pilot, allura remains piloting her till ajustments can be made. Alongside waiting, lance is taught how to pilot the lions, through a serious of simulations on the castle-ship ^ 3^ (hint: he tries tO thread the needle kek) lance also bonds with blue on the side, especially whenever theres water nearby lel they end up growing really close during that time, tho it seems to bum lance out alot because hes heard the stories of voltron and heres the blue lion right infront of him, he just wants to be a hero and be important too. Not only that but he feels like he isnt contributing to the team, since hes her pilot and allura still pilots her.
I know some people has said “Maybe blue can fill the cockpit with water to help Lance” and i can totally see them trying that as like a last ditch attempt, but the way i see it is that the second blue opens up to let him out, the pit would empty out onto the bay floor and he’d be a fish out of water again >
(note: i still cant draw the blue lion all to well so i had to trace a bit of the face cause if i didnt, i’d never finish this post ; ; forgive me, one day i’ll be able to draw her)
At one point or another, Lance would be reclaimed by Prince lotor (reminder that lotor wants lance for his own personal zoo,because lance is hella rare and cute) and is put under lock and key in his dungeons till he can be accomodated into a tank (lance is nOT happy about being put in a tank) time goes on and he starts drying out (because up until recently, lance has had plenty of water to swim in) and this is no bueno for our fishy friend ; ; Shiro and keith find him, sick and stressed out and as theyre leaving lotor finds them, and hES FUCKING PISSED THAT THEY TOOK LANCE KEK
fighting happens and lotor has his own little group of druids to attack keith with while he fights shiro. Meanwhile lance is put in a corner away from the fight, and told to wait till hunk and pidge get to him. More fighting happens, maybe even a monologue from lotor about how lance is his, and then boom shiros had enough and pins lotor down. Keith is still holding his own against the druids, until sHIT KEITH GETS HIT aNd shiro goes dad mode for half a second
Lotor laughs and pulls out one final trick from his sleeve and yells at the closest druid to do “it” whatever it is kek
The druid ends up hitting lance with some sort of magic that leaves him screaming and shaking on the ground. And lotor, being the kek he is just whispers “if i cant have him, no one can” and then poof the druids and him disappear bye bye!! Hunk and Pidge make it and they are both freaking out like “SHIRO WTF IS GOING ON???? ” and shiro just tells them to pick up lance and keith and to get to their lions as quick as possible. Hunk picks up Lance, whos now gone freakishly quiet and Hunk is like gotta go fast to my lion, my friend is probs dying shIT, while pidge and shiro hold Keith up and walk him out.
Once they all get back to the castle ship Keith is put in a cryopod, Meanwhile Lance still hasnt woken up! They put him back in the pool and at this point Shiro is hella worried, thinking about whatever the druid did and what it could be doing to Lance ; ; and Lance cant be put in a cryopod since its not a physical injury. Shiro ends up spending the night with lance, just kinda watching over him, poor babu is just so worried about him ; ; not only that but since he just loves him so much he starts planning on telling lance how he feels c ause fuck this the boy could be dying??? he’s gotta tell him his gay feelings ; ; but after a few hours shiro sorta falls asleep (cause fuck he already doesnt get enough sleep, and that rescue mission was too stressful)
Come morning, Lance wakes up and everything seems totally normal up until he tries to get out of bed. (because at one point, both shiro and lance were moved to a room, you’ll find out soon in a second)
Boy realized he got feet???? like WHAT HOT DAMN WHERES MY TAIL WHAT THE PISS?????
At first this boy is completely devastated, even crying a bit, and Shiro holds him all the while, comforting him and never letting go! the two share a cute moment together and then everyone else comes in, having heard lance crying ; ;
They all attempt to comfort lance and once he’s calmed down, and thanks everyone, Allura points out one benefit to having legs ^3 ^
guess what it is…
HE CAN PILOT BLUE NOW!!
Lance legit just gets up, all wobbly and weak, cause kek he’s never walked before and just starts to try and book it over to blue! granted poor kid doesnt even make it a step before he falls over, hes JUST SO DAMN EXCITED THAT BLUE IS FINALLY HIS AND THAT HE CAN PILOT HER!! Shiro laughs at him, holding Lance up and gives him a little kiss and tells him to slow down, that he still needs to learn how to walk properly first, and lance is now just!!! sO READY TO LIVE HIS LIFE WITH THE PALADINS AND BLUE!!!

I have better drawings in my physics notebook so I may post a picture of those later. A mermaid guideline for my Drown story. For those who cant read my sloppy handwriting:
-Tail fins are flowy and elegant.
-Theres a skirt to cover their genital slit as mermpeople only have one
-They have fins under their arms to help them glide in the water
-Scales on their cheeks, shoulders, and normally around where the fins are attatched
-Fins behind the ear because I think it looks cool
-Pointed ears and sharp teeth

Evaluation guidance.
What were the requirements of the brief?
To compose a digital art using my own photographs and any other media. I also allowed to paint, illustrate, find different objects and shoot them to be able to add the on my art piece. I must to use different range of tools in the Photoshop, such as pen tool or masks, to cut different objects so it will look more professional on the composed image.
What was the creative process you followed?
I decided to create an art based on marina theme. I cant say, that the image that I created is very surreal, but it is interesting to look at, as I haven`t seen something similar to it from the photographers who I made research about.
How did you develop ideas for this project? Which idea generation techniques did you use?
Which sources of inspiration did you use?
I found it slightly hard to think of your own art piece, as my imagination is not good enough. However, I did some research on photographers and just some random surreal work that has been made in Photoshop and this helped me a bit to think of something for myself. I saved all examples that I like, and I tried to choose a style of theme for my art from them. At the end, I decided to combine some examples together, and see how they`ll work together.
At the beginning, I decided to create a girl on the swings in the galaxy looking down on the planet. But looking through some examples, i realized that there are a lot of that kind of images, so it would not be interesting to make. So i decided to add this girl some wings, like the ones that angels have, and make her trying to catch some balloons. However, when i draw in on the paper, I decided that I don`t like how it looks like and the main idea overall, as it still looked too similar to the examples in the internet.
After, I thought to make an image on the theme I will definitely like, and that will look beautiful anyway. So, I decided to create something on marina theme, and I picked to create a mermaid sitting on the stones using a technique that is shown on the last two images.
What planning did you undertake?
I didn`t do much planning for my art piece, because a lot of photographs were impossible for me to take, so I just started to look through different images in the internet after i decided what exactly i want to do. However, as a mermaid i planned to take a photograph of my sister, but i as decided with my idea too late, my sister went to another city, so i thought to take some photographs of one of my classmates or friends.
What post-production techniques (Photoshop) did you use and why?
In Photoshop I used masks and brushes, pen tool, quick selection tool, adjustment layers, clone stamp, spot healing tool, patch tool. First of all, i used a pen tool to cut out the pages in the book, so i can place two photographs (one is mine and one i took from the internet) of the sea inside. Then, I cut out the stones using a pen tool, and placed it on the water. Using mask and brushes i blended the bottom edges of the stones, so it look more natural. After, i found two images of the different waves and placed them on the stone to make an effect of the splash. To cut out waves i also used pen tool, and mask to blend them out. After, i found a sitting women, i used pen tool to cut her out from the white background, then a selected and masked it to cut her hair properly. Then i used clone stamp and spot healing tools alternately to remove the watermarks, so i can use the image properly. I placed the woman on the stone, then i cut out the mermaid tail used a pen tool again, and placed it on the women. Using a wrap tool i made the tail sit properly on the body, and using masks and brush tool i blended up the top bit of the tail, so it looks more realistic. After this process, i linked up layers by highlight them and right click. After, i cut out hair using pen tool again, I selected and mask it to be able to cut the hair properly and make them look more naturally. I also used wrap tool to make them sit properly on the head. Then, i cut out a safety ring and placed it on the women`s arm. I used mask to bring the arm and the hair on the top of the ring, and transformation tool to make the ring sit more naturally. Also, i applied levels and exposure adjustment layers on the safety ring, so the brightness of it suits the rest of the objects on the image. Then, i made some shadows under the mermaid on the new layer to create a 3D effect. using a brush a draw a black line and took the opacity and fill down. Using the same way that i created the shadows, i also created some sun light on the top right corner o the image, and applied some yellow shadows on the mermaid to create a warm effect of sun light. Fially, i cut out a whale tale using a pen tool again, and placed it on the left page, so the image would not look empty, and placed the background image by dragging a photograph under all the layers.
