the lyrics i was referring to on that post are the chorus. “everybody everywhere/put your guns up in the air [...] /yalla yalla eh.” she said in interviews that this is supposed to be BOTH a fun club jam because she loves music so much etc. AND a liberation anthem for kurdistan because music is her weapon etc.
then the whole ISIS situation got more intense and i guess she and her management decided to double down on the “music is my weapon” thing:

i’m not sure how much detail to go into because as previously mentioned i have 40 pages of thoughts on her whole Thing, but basically you need to know that her record deal is (was?) with an american company, this is all very much produced for an international audience by americans, and there is an obvious exploitation of the fascination with female peshmerga (kurdish fighters) that was peaking in 2015-16 happening here. the attempt to mesh the illusion of something politically meaningful with selling “the kurdish shakira” is deeply weird.
