As someone who was very curious as to how Mammon was going to be presented in Helluva Boss, you can probably imagine I was looking through the new episode very closely.
And while I may have been off the mark with my theory that Mammon would follow the trend of Asmodeus and Beelzebub and NOT actually be antagonistic, I nonetheless think it is VERY interesting how Vivzie and the team handled and presented him.
Tumblr media
Specifically, in just how PETTY Mammon is shown to be in this episode.
Like really think about what you might generally expect from a character like Mammon just from a basic background description: He is one of the seven rulers of Hell, lord of the seven rings and embodiment of GREED. Likely a fallen angel who helped to create hell as it exists today, is matched in power only by his five fellow Sins, and is functionally only truly outranked by Lucifer himself.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And yet, Mammon’s characterization in this episode presents him as this petty, selfish, manipulative asshole interested in little more than money and attention. He acts more like a shitty, full-of-himself asshole celebrity than a demon lord. Just look at how he manipulates Fizzerolli, not through lording power and authority over him but through emotional coercion like an abusive parent, ex-, or boss, which is precisely WHAT he is presented as. fi
Tumblr media
What makes this even more interesting is that despite Mammon being characterized as Fizz’s petty, manipulative boss, we nonetheless see him display all the POWER and experience we’d expect from one of the seven rulers of Hell. Asmodeus mentions earlier in the episode that he’s known Mammon ‘since the START of Hell’, confirming they were both involved in its creation, and when the two square off at the end, it’s clear that Mammon is very much Ozzie’s EQUAL in power, and that everyone else present is pretty much an insect in comparison.
This is what I think makes the inclusion of that one creepy, obsessive fan of Fizzerolli’s in this episode so significant; he serves as a point of comparison to Mammon.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
For all the power and authority that he might wield, Mammon is characterized as being no different/better than a creepy, manipulative, entitled and obsessive stalker.
I think this might be the true common ‘thru-line’ connecting all of the seven sins through Helluva Boss and possibly even Hazbin Hotel: That despite essentially being ‘God-Emperors’ of Hell and outclassed in power likely only by the most powerful angels of Heaven itself, the seven sins are characterized in a very grounded, down-to-earth and for lack of a better term, ‘human’ way.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
All the times we’ve seen them, Ozzie, Bee and Mam haven’t presented themselves as these all-powerful beings lording themselves over their subjects like we might expect or even what we’ve seen of the Goetic nobility. They don’t present themselves as ‘royalty’ but rather more like celebrity performers, which is certainly in keeping with Vivzie’s comments about how Hell is meant to represent a circus.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It really gives this fascinating dichotomy to the Sins as characters, where they’re presented as these big wacky celebrities with big, over-the-top personas which in turn hide very grounded, down-to-earth people underneath. While at the same time still being these monstrously powerful and ancient beings whose dominion over Hell is entirely uncontested.
It also gives them a nice contrast with the Goetic Nobility and the Sinner Overlords. Like those two groups actually do act and present themselves like demonic ‘royalty’ who lord themselves over those considered ‘beneath’ them, while in reality they’re at best the ‘middle-managers’, and instead it’s these wacky characters who are the TRUE masters of Hell.
It may even continue into what we might see in Hazbin Hotel, what with Charlie being this bubbly, happy-go-lucky Disney-esque princess who also may very well have power outclassing literally EVERYONE else in the show apart from her parents.
Overall, I loved this episode and I think we may now have a good idea what we might expect from the other Sins, and possibly even Lucifer himself in Hazbin Hotel.

Just Look My Way
Can we please talk about the way the lyrics have changed from the original to showcase Stolas' growth and character development?
I was already surprised that what originally looked like it was just going to be a fan video ended up becoming canon content, but when I heard the different lines my mind exploded, you guys.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Note the difference, the major difference, in treatment!
In the original version, which released back in season 1 but before Ozzie's, Stolas' line was actually:
"Come now, my little impish plaything, we've both made our choice."
Keep in mind the original most likely included this line as a reference to what both Striker and Stolas said in regards to Blitzo's relationship with Stolas. Even our dear owl boy referred to him as just a plaything while saving him from D.O.R.K.S! Which most likely only helped cement Blitzo's internalised belief that Stolas would never see him as anything other than a cheap thrill.
Here, however, Stolas is cementing him as his dearest! A loved one! Someone he values and cares for! That is a huge difference from being just a sexual partner!
And the second line. OMG, THE SECOND LINE.
Unlike the original, where Stolas speaks of a choice that, realistically, was never there (as it usually is the case with relationships where there's a power imbalance and, moreover, were born out of transactional needs), this time he is reaffirming Blitzo's agency and independence. The implied choice is clear: Stolas will present the asmodean crystal to him so he no longer relies on his Grimoire and sleeps with him out of necessity. All that's left for Blitzo now will be to choose if he wants to remain by Stolas' side even then. And the choice is his.
Tumblr media
As a quick aside, I also love the constant symbolism between Blitzo and the Moon.
Technically, compared to Stolas and the Earth, both are just satellites, nowhere near as important as a Goetia demon and member of Hell Royalty or a planet brimming with life and where beauty and wonder happen at every corner. And yet, without them neither can thrive. Stolas is as fascinated and dependent of Blitzo as the Earth is with the Moon. Without the Moon, there's no tides; it brings inspiration and romance to countless souls, brightening the night sky, just like Blitzo brightens Stolas' life.
Blitzo is Stolas' moon, and I just think that's beautiful.
Tumblr media
Every word in this line in particular just oozes character development, too.
The original was:
"What's left for me in this broken house if I cannot have you?"
This is no longer about Stolas using Blitzo to escape his boring routine and his horrible marriage to Stella, it's about Stolas being deeply and hopelessly in love with Blitzo and not knowing what to do to convey that in a way that will reach him.
Once again, Blitzo has stopped being a mere plaything or boy toy and become so much more. He has become an essential part of Stolas' life he doesn't know what he'll do without but knows he'll have to let go of if that's what Blitzo wants!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now, I must admit I am not exactly a fan of this change in these particular verses. On the one hand, I understand it's meant to reflect Stolas is trying to understand Blitzo and see things from is point of view, but I also feel it robs the moment of the raw feeling the original conveyed:
"Is this how she'd feel? Abandoned, all alone, left to fend for herself, for a semblance of happiness that doesn't have to end?"
"She" clearly referring to Via.
I just think it would have been more powerful to keep it and allow that juxtaposition between the most important people in his life to help Stolas understand Blitzo better. After all, he loves them both dearly and unconditionally, but his actions have also hurt them both very deeply.
I just think it'd be fitting if one allowed him to understand the other better.
Nevertheless, if there is something this song has taught me, is this: we are so not ready for the next episode.

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
In the music video, Blitzø is represented by the Moon, while Stolas is associated with the ocean, initially walking on it before being submerged in it. This is actually very symbolic of their dynamic. The Moon controls the tides, but at the same time, it orbits around the Earth. Blitzø relies on Stolas and is drawn to the force of his power that he needs to accomplish his goals. However, Stolas is controlled by Blitzø's gravity as well, to the point of drowning in his emotions for the imp. They both profoundly affect one another.
Even the string that ties Blitzø and Stolas together is deeply symbolic. The majority is Stolas's blue, which is representing how much he's put into the relationship so far, as well as the massive amounts of feelings he's going through dealing with possibly losing Bitzø once he gives him the crystal. He has so much length to it because he's being so much more open about his feelings as well.
Meanwhile Blitzø's red is barely there because he doesn't, and possibly can't, put more into the relationship than he currently does. He has so much self-hatred that it's almost impossible for him to love anyone romantically, considering he doesn't even love himself. That and he's scared to put himself out there only to be hurt. He shows so few emotions and so his portion of string is immensely shorter. When it snaps, it all goes back to red on his end as all his trauma and repressed emotions about it flood back and envelope him in the moon once more.
Pay attention to the size of the moon. At first the moon was small, that is, these "walls" were thin or insignificant (this can be recognized from the childhood of Blitzo and Stolas, Blitzo was full of enthusiasm and hope, but now it is slowly fading away). Previously, Blitzo was more open, but after many events in his life, his walls began to increase (he was used by his father for profit, his best friend Fizzaroli suffered because of him, etc.), and eventually became huge and impenetrable (he does not share many things, not even with his own daughter, and he's afraid to trust Stolas on purpose). Even Stolas, with his tall stature, cannot compare with them. This literally shows that Blitzo can't trust anyone.
Stolas sees this and tries to break through them, but until they talk, the walls will not be possible to get through. It is precisely because this "barrier" cannot be destroyed that Stolas will give Blitzo the opportunity not to depend on him because of some kind of grimoire. The Moon's increasing size may also indicate that Blitzo is becoming a significant figure to Stolas. He wants to be with Blitzo not only physically (by type of sexual attraction), but also emotionally. In other words: Stolas fell in love with Blitzo seriously, not in childhood, when it was just sympathy, but real love, which is difficult to get rid of.
The symbolism of Blitzo as the Moon is very reflective of his and Stolas' relationship. Not only is it a callback to the fact that they mostly see each other once a month on a full moon to do “the deed”, but it it's also just a great metaphor for Blitzo as a character. Humanity has been fascinated by the Moon for a long time and tried to reach it for centuries and it was only in 1969 (relatively recently) that they managed to do it. The moon had always been this gorgeous, desirable, yet unreachable thing and that's exactly what Blitzo's love is from Stolas’ perspective.
Stolas' love for Blitzo is represented by the moon. First small and bright, something he can hold close and dear. Then larger, something harder to hold but something still fully within his grasp. Then at the end, impossibly large while also just out of reach
The moon also mirrors the power dynamics between Stolas and Blitzø, at the start with Stolas holding all the power, then Stolas putting himself at Blitzø’s level when he finally tries to look deeper and see what Blitzø needs and his walls. Then the moon grows larger than Stolas as he intends to give Blitzø the crystal so he doesn’t have to depend on him anymore. And now the power in the relationship shifted towards Blitzø. Whether the relationship continues is now up to him.

You know, when you think about it, it makes sense Mammon is such a jerk. Out of all the sins, Greed is arguably the most selfish.
Ozzie always says that lust should be natural and enjoyed together. In fact, most of his establishments outright discourage indulging in lust on your own. You should get out there and indulge in your sick twisted fetishes with as many people as possible. As long as it's consensual. Because if only one person is enjoying it, that's not lust.
Bee always throws huge parties and encourages everyone to have fun indulging in Gluttony. But you shouldn't use it as a way to ignore your problems. That's not helping you, and it's just going to ruin everyone's fun. Don't be that jackass.
Even Lucifer, the embodiment of pride encourages you to stand up for yourself. "Don't take shit from other demons."
Greed? There's really no way to indulge in greed without hurting people because its very concept is taking what you want at the expense of other people. It's prioritizing your own needs over everything else.
So if you're wondering why Mammon is such a prick, it's because greed really is just inherently worse than Pride or Lust.

Why Blitzø Likes Stolas
Tumblr media
I've made jokes about Blitzø liking Stolas bcuz his type is tall, rich, powerful demons with musical talent, and that's probably kinda true, but I wanna talk about the real reasons Blitzø likes Stolas. Tldr at the end.
I think one of the major reasons Blitzø likes Stolas is how kind, sincere, and affectionate he is. Stolas is always making sure he is okay and is very passionate about litterally everything he does (dramatic little bitch, lol). And while he's ignorant ("my impish little plaything"???), he does mean well. Taking Octavia to Looloo Land to make her feel better, Going full demon mode to save IMP, his attentiveness to Blitzø during his mental breakdown in Seeing Stars, him absolutely adoring Octavia, him helping Ozzie when he gained no real benefit, etc, etc.
Also, expanding more on the affectionate part, Blitzø is shown to not get much affection or love in his life at all. His family situation was a giant mess (his dad literally sold him for 5 bucks and a condom Jesus Christ-), and Stolas is a very loving and affectionate person. Obviously, this is shown with Blitzø, but also with Octavia ('my precious little starfire', always staying patient with Via, even if he can be a bit dismissive, going full demon mode when Blitzø said he lost Via), and even his plants (he raised the flesh-eating plant since he was a kid, he pets the plant, on his insta he called a puprle rose "a handsome little rose"). And yeah, he's going to be affectione with Via, that's his daughter, but in Hell, (or maybe just from Blitzø's perspective, it'a hard to tell honestly) that's shown to be a rarity. So obviously, he's going to admire that about him.
And also, compare that to Blitzø's life. His dad saw him as less than, something happened that made his sister hate him, his mom seemed to be a good parent, but she's dead, his best friend and former crush hated his guts for 15 years, his daughter does care about him but she also mostly just shows anger and annoyance with him, and even Moxxie, who'd I'd argue is his best friend, gets annoyed with him constantly (I would too tbh but this isn't about that). Stolas just being his loving and affectionate self and being so happy to see him and always being so sweet to Blitzø is like a breath of fresh air to him.
Another thing is that Stolas shows clear interest in the things he likes. Take horses as example, bcuz we all know Blitzø is obsessed with them. Most of the time, his friends are pretty passive about it, but Stolas actually indulges him. Some of this is from their instas, but Stolas got him a horse Hoodie, he draws horses with him, and Stolas even got inspired to draw because of Blitzø.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Also, plz note that in another post he commented that it smells like Stolas, and I want everyone to appreciate how happy he looks in this photo while smelling it again)
Blitzø probably admires Stolas's theatrics as well because despite growing up in a Circus where you were supposed to be dramatic and showy, he was still always taught to ignore or hide his true emotions (Cash ignoring that he didn't want to go to the Goetia Palace because "MONEY"). And while Stolas was raised the same way, he still wears his heart and emotions on his sleeve and is always showing them, whether it be positive or negative
And we all know thst Blitzø has major self hatred issues, but Stolas was genuinely interested in Blitzø as a person. Laughing at his jokes, asking how his day went, and with all of this, you can't help but wonder if Blitzø was figuring out that he did too. I think that's why he was so heartbroken about Ozzie's. Because to him, Stolas hiding his face was just proof that Stolas didn't care. That he was just a little plaything. But, Blitzø liked that Stolas liked him for who he was, and that he didn't have to pretend to be someone different.
Yes, ik Blitzø wasn't here for some of them, and he thinks that Stolas is just faking all of this. BUT, Blitzø can notice things subconsciously, and the stuff that Blitzø wasn't there for was to talk about Stolas's character as well. That's why I wanted to talk about this, to talk about what Blitzø sees in Stolas and his character.
Feel free to add anything if you want! I'd love to hear your guy's opinions, takes, and thoughts on the ship. I'm probably gonna a make a post on why Stolas likes Blitzø at some point, lol
Tldr; Blitzø likes Stolas because he's kind, sincere, loving, affectionate, passionate, caring, dramatic, and likes Blitzø for who he is.

"Queen Bee doesn't look like a properly designed Beelzebub! There's nothing on her design that says Glutony!"
Ok... so we're talking about the sin about over self-indulgence, about seeking satisfaction through something you ingest, waste of food, eat or drink stuff that is bad for your body, waste money on overly expensive food....
I wonder is there is a type of escenario where all that happens at once.... oh yes. PARTIES.
So.....

A party queen. One with hair and tail made of the HONEY SHE MENTIONS DON'T STOP ON HER THEME SONG.
Tumblr media
A belly that I bet can digest everything so she's NEVER EVER FULL of food or drinks. Also, works as another big clue.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Offers food and drink non-stop, is always up to get something in her, and has a pool full of what seems to be magical honey that she can turn into sweets.
.....nope. Not a convincing Glutony Queen at all. XD

Alright here are a few things that stood out to me in the Stolas music video because it's a masterpiece.
"But dearest, I know better now, I must give you this choice." Finally, he realized that this whole arrangement was kind of forced onto Blitz.
"I can give you everything you need, or do you want to hear me plee?" <3
The line "I don't care that you're of lower station"?? Ughhhhhhhhh because we know from Blitz's fever dream in s1e6 that he sees Stolas as above him, this higher figure, and while it's sweet that Stolas doesn't see that, it's something he needs to recognize for Blitz's sake
"It's not enough to get through the walls you've conjured up to live" Stolas knows and recognizes that Blitz is in pain, and in the video Blitz is in the moon curled into a ball, like, Stolas knows that Blitz is suffering right now and it's heartbreaking because he thinks it's his fault (which it partly is but not as much as Stolas thinks)
"So I'll grant you this mercy, this bind on our souls needs to end." I don't have anything to say, this is just a fantastic line
"And if there's something that I don't know, I'll save us both before we grow cold." As he sings this, he sinks into the water that he's been walking on, drowning in his emotions.

Okay guys hear me out- this has been floating around in my head since watching truth seekers.
We know blitz is going to be given an asmodeus crystal, it's been pretty explicitly built up and shown to us at this point, but that means we have the perfect opportunity for a horrendously delicious separation of characters.
Like regardless of how mutual and healthy it's going to be (and it's not going to be pretty) I 100% expect Stolas and Blitz to go their separate ways and spend some time separated as Blitz just isn't ready to be vulnerable yet (probably). BUT. This means Blitz will have access to the mortal realm at any time for whatever need in the meantime.
BUT. WHAT IF. THE NEED. IS THE CONTINUATION OF DHORKS CONTENT.
Like they have extended camera footage of a step by step guide for how to summon Stolas directly- and they've had PLENTY of time offscreen to prepare for some type of containment unit designed to summon him and do anything they want with him.
SO. WHAT IF. Right after their separation Stolas is yeeted to the human world against his will and is once again trapped in a serious situation where he requires help. This could branch many ways, such as asking for help/ not asking for help, asking for help from someone other than blitz since it was made clear he needed space/ and or having no one else to turn to chooses to remain contained/ doesn't want others to get put in danger, etc etc.
BUT the foundation for a plotline like this has been laid out so thick I'm DESPERATE for any dhorks related content. BUT CAN YOU IMAGINE BLITZ'S FIRST USE OF THE CRYSTAL BEING GOING TO GET STOLAS?? LIKE I'M SORRY I WANT TO SEE THAT SO BADLY 😭😭
And in a best case scenario they can trauma bond afterwards since that would allow each to open up more after Blitz being bluntly reminded of his drug trip last time he was here, and tied with his recent realization that Stolas can in fact get put in real danger and die 🫶
Literally watching a real life version of his drug trip in real time would be so traumatic I would explode just like his will to live 😩
I've been running in circles about the next episode but I'm really hoping something related to dhorks happens soon 🎉🤸‍♂️🎉
✨ {since there have been some leaks please don't tell me anything about them I've been avoiding them like the PLAGUE} ✨

A long post about the establishing and foreshadowing of Blitzo's character in Helluva Boss (and a Stolitz rant)
A lot of people tend to criticize character development in Helluva Boss, So I wanted to discuss the development that HB gets right, which is that of its main character, Blitzo. Firstly I want to lay out every instance of Blitzo getting some form of development or foreshadowing.
S1; EP2- Loo Loo Land.
This is only one line but it's still important to point out because 1, It shows how Blitzo thinks of Fizzarolli, and 2, It foreshadows Blitzos history with him and his (maybe) first failed relationship with someone close to him.
Tumblr media
There's also this line where Robo asks "Does anybody love you" and Blitzo responds with "No." While this was clearly a joke, I think Blitz genuinely believes nobody loves him. He scratches his face out in photos and says "I'm going to die alone aren't I,' So he very clearly has issues with his self-worth and how he views himself. Maybe this is a punishment he inflicts on himself to remind him that he's a failure and that he doesn't deserve the people in his life
S1; EP3- Spring Broken
This one is clear as day. His relationship with Veronika is at the forefront of this episode. We don't know much about their breakup or what led to it, but it's safe to assume that it was caused by Blitz.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
In Ozzies Verosika states Blitzo didn't reciprocate in their relationship, and says he's selfish both in bed and in public. In Spring Broken, she says Blitzo didn't do his job well as a bodyguard and explains how Blitzo dumped her by leaving and stealing from her.
This is the first real glimpse at how Blitzo has ruined his relationships with people. If my current timeline theory is correct, with Verosika being the last serious relationship Blitzo was in before he started sleeping with Stolas, his breakup with Verosika could've been one of the first instances in his life where he pushed someone close to him away out of fear. My theory is that Verosika was a fallback after his relationships with Fizzarolli and Barbie Wire ended on bad terms, and that's why he never truly treated her right when they were together.
S1; EP5- The Harvest Moon Festival.
This one delves more into Blitzo's views of himself rather than his relationships, but it does become important on that front too since in Truth Seekers, this is flipped to reflect how his self-worth affects his willingness to be with people.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
S1; EP6- Truth Seekers is going to be a long one because of how much is said and shown during Blitzos hallucinations.
S1; EP6- Truth Seekers
Firstly, what "Moxxie," says is telling because this is Blitzo's own brain explaining his character flaws to him through someone who he constantly belittles.
Tumblr media
Blitzo responds with "I don't need you," which obviously isn't true due to how often he fucks up and leaves things to Moxxie and Millie (Which is what fake Moxxie says)
Tumblr media
Striker saying "But you don't want to do things alone" is his mind using striker, the person who confronted him about his self-worth, to say he doesn't want to be alone.
Tumblr media
I don't know if this was an intentional decision but it's indirectly using a figure that shows he views himself lowly as an explanation for why he pushes people away despite not wanting to. It's basically saying "You want to become better, you don't want to be alone, but you think you're undeserving so you push everyone away from you."
Moving to fake Fizzarolli, again this section will be longer since I have a lot more to say.
Fizzarolli's design is something I theorize a lot about, mainly because the other two renditions look pretty close to their real counterparts, but Fizz is cartoonish and sort of looks like rubberhose-style animation. I think this style was chosen to represent how long it's been since Blitzo and Fizzarolli have been friends.
Tumblr media
Another thing about his design is the heart on his forehead. I don't think it was just to make it look simpler because the design is already pretty plain. I think this is supposed to show that Fizz and Blitzo had a romantic relationship that ended poorly.
Tumblr media
I don't know when this SS from the 2022 trailer is supposed to take place in univ. The trailer was released after "Ozzies" so it could be a shot in the present in the upcoming S2 EP6, but I don't know if Blitzo would allow this to happen after what happened at Ozzies, not unless he has (or had) a major soft spot for Fizzarollli. Fizzarolli's language in Ozzies suggests he hasn't seen him or heard from him in a while (he says "That Blitzo? So you're showing your face?")
Tumblr media
Of course, this was just a setup to make fun of him for his keychain so It could be from after Ozzies, but this is just a clip from a trailer so It's not going to be a clear answer until we get the episode it's from.
Finally moving on to Verosika, the heart on her cheek is now broken as well, and her makeup is smeared. This design of her is showing how upset and hurt she is, and how bitter it's made her.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Lastly, moving to Stolas and the ending of the trip,
I believe these chains removing the weird goop is meant to represent how he views his relationship with Stolas. The goo represents his past problems and flaws, and Stolas is someone who can help him deal with that. But the chains are his fears and flaws negatively effecting him.
Stolitz Rant Incoming
I see people use this as a reason to say Blitzo doesn't like Stolas and doesn't want to be with him, yet no one points out how Blitzo was the one to crawl towards him, granted it was to escape from his past, but he still made the choice to go forward.
Stolitz discourse is something that always divides people. On one hand, people say Blitzo is manipulating Stolas by pretending to want to fuck him just for his book, and on the other, people say Stolas is harassing Blitz by not taking the hint. These arguments aren't too far off, but there isn't any INTENTIONAL manipulation.
Blitzo does care about Stolas. This isnt something that just happened suddenly, the show is trying to establish how he feels about Stolas, yet there's always a crowd that says "Where did this come from? Why is this the first time we're seeing this?" as if thats not how shows work.
This is the first we're seeing of Blitzos true feelings because this is the ESTABLISHING period of the show. There haven't been any more indicators because there wasn't any show before this. Sure you can make the argument that there were more opportunities to put more ground beneath this story but you cant then fault the show for trying to establish ground AT ALL. It's like not studying for a test and crying when you fail.
Blitzo is uncomfortable because he's currently in turmoil. For years he's been in a constant shit storm of pushing his loved ones away and isolating himself from them until he's left alone. And now it's coming back to bite him in the ass because he doesn't realize how badly hes hurt people. It took hallucinatory drugs and a musical number to get him to see that he's truly hurt the people he loves and that he has a trail of bitter and angry exes.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Stolas is just the one who's made him understand what intimacy means to him, and why he's afraid to have that. He WANTS to be with Stolas, but years and years of isolation have left him afraid of a new partner.
It's why he stalks M&M, its why he looks for Barbie, its why he pours so much love into Loona. He's looking for a way out of his cycle of pain.
In Stolas's defense, he's just doing what he thinks Blitzo would like. The texts in Western Energy show that Stolas is genuinely trying to make an effort to make their relationship less transactional, and Blitzo isn't reciprocating at all (something we know he's done before).
I'm closing this off now because I don't want this Stolitz rant to drag on but I will return to this with more on Stolas's behalf. This post was mainly about Blitzo and his character.
In conclusion, I think that #HelluvaBoss deserves a lot more credit than its given. Stolitz is a toxic relationship, but it's only toxic because Stolas and Blitzo have major character flaws that prevent them from having a healthy relationship. And that doen'yt make them evil people. Theres no real malice or abuse, just misunderstanding that lead to toxicity and no comunication.

So here’s something interesting:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Did anyone else notice that despite his concern for and wanting to reconnect with his sister, at no point does Blitzo try to apologize or otherwise take ownership of whatever it is he did that clearly HURT Barbie Wire so much in the past?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Which I think makes for a very notable and interesting contrast to how Moxxie handled his relationship problems/screw-ups this episode.
Like I’m starting to think that the M&Ms posing as siblings this episode wasn’t just setup for a joke, but also so they can act as a foil to how Blitzo is handling, and screwing up, his own relationship/family issues.

I was rewatching Ozzie’s today, specifically the scene with Blitzø and Stolas, and I realized something.
When Stolas hides his face in the menu, it’s a gesture that says to Blitzø that he’s embarrassed to be seen with him.
Tumblr media
Before this, everyone is heckling him about “sleeping with an imp”, and he doesn’t defend Blitzø. He just hides his face in shame.
Tumblr media
I see this frame as Blitzø waiting to see how Stolas reacts. He’s waiting to see if he does anything. When he doesn’t, he goes from anger at Stolas for hiding,
Tumblr media
to shock that he would even react like that in the first place, because he was finally, finally believing Stolas viewed them as equals,
Tumblr media
To complete dejection. Like, “of course he’s still ashamed of being with me. How could I think otherwise?”
Tumblr media
He’s always viewed Stolas as being above him. In Truth Seekers, he literally thinks of Stolas as being on a golden throne, while he’s in chains.

And when he finally starts to hope that they could be equals, his hope is completely shattered. This power dynamic will always be Stolitz’s biggest issue.

Blitzo's Hallucination Scene
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Blitzo's dream reveals much about his psyche along with why he acts the way he does...
Take note of how Verosika treats Blitzo. Striker and Fizzaroli throw around and mock him for his loneliness, while she crawls towards him and calls him out for pushing away those that get close, at most grabbing his face for emphasis. This hints heavily that Verosika really loved Blitzo and Blitzo knew, but then he sabotaged the relationship.
The hallucinations of Striker, Fizzaroli, and Verosika speak with Blitzo's voice rather than those of their voice actors. Blitzo is criticizing himself for his own insecurities and toxic behavior.
Adding to the above, Moxxie's voice is unchanged, but his body flickers between his normal art style and the crude drawing style Blitzo's used in the past. While the other hallucinations speak to Blitzo's insecurities about himself, Moxxie just blathers on in fancy language without really saying anything of value. Much as Blitzo wants to think that that's how Moxxie is, he knows it isn't true, hence the flickering between real and unreal. Also, why is Moxxie phasing in and out of Blitzo's drawing style? Looks like Blitzo is still upset about Moxxie criticizing his art skills...
None of Blitzo's family shows up during the hallucination, not even his disapproving father who would presumably be a big source of Blitzo's insecurity. That's because his interactions with Robo-Fizz, Verosika, and Striker were all very recent, meaning that the emotional wounds they inflicted were still fresh in Blitzo's mind. Not to mention that the Truth Bomb gas dissipates fairly quickly. It's possible that it could have dredged up Blitzo's family had it lingered for longer.
Blitzo's mind is drenched in mud. Aside from signifying how Blitzo feels lower than dirt, mud in dreams symbolizes insecurity, uncertainty, and an inability to find your footing. All things that Blitzo has been struggling with. The mud disappears once Stolas arrives, though some of it coats the staircase for a little longer. Stolas is a reassuring presence in Blitzo's life on some level, but Blitzo still isn't one hundred percent sure if he will stick around.
Blitzo climbs the golden stairs to get away from Fizzaroli, Verosika, and Striker only to see Stolas waiting at the top, being fanned by two clones of himself. Rather than run in another direction, Blitzo keeps climbing, almost crawling towards him. The clown outfit that Blitzo had been wearing is replaced by his normal outfit, but golden chains form around his wrists and neck, led by a chain pulled by Stolas.
This single scene explains so much about Stolas and Blitzo's relationship to one another; Blitzo gained a new life and dignity (the clothes) thanks to Stolas, but his entire assassination business is now dependent on Stolas' grimoire, making Blitzo feel trapped (the chains) under the owl's whims. Stolas might actually be in love with Blitzo, but because of this dynamic, Blitzo feels like it's nothing more than a master toying with their pet. It also explains why Blitz seemed so reluctant to be near Stolas in the past: his self-deprecation and tendency to push people away makes him believe that once Stolas grows bored of him, he'll discard him and he'll lose everything, so he doesn't want to get attached.

I can’t with critical fandom blogs sometimes like I enjoy analysing shows and looking at there gaps and flaws but some people are really either giving not constructive criticism or just telling people who like a particular theme or ship that they’re a horrible person
Fandom is suppose to be FUN right you shouldn’t have to scroll through so much hate like if u hate the show so much u can leave
Note: I’m not saying no one is allowed to criticise shows I’m just saying sometimes it’s more destructive than constructive
