I was competing in Hell’s Kitchen and wasn’t doing too well. Gordon asked me, “Do you know what you are?” and I told him something so aggressively self-depreciating that it was censored and he just stared at me. He made me stop cooking and pulled me aside but I don’t remember what he told me, just that it was something comforting/encouraging.

I love how, I don’t know the best word for it, but “gimmicky” the Falling Devil is.
Every devil and fiend we’ve seen has been rather straight forward in how they presented themselves, but the Falling Devil really went the extra mile. After assembling itself from a collection of human body parts, it could have just left it at that and gone about her job of throwing people into the sky, but no, she looked down at herself, decided it was indecent to be naked, and so she created for herself a bespoke chef outfit that fit her new, malformed body, and is just running with the bit, saying she’s going to cook something up for the residents of Hell.
There is no reason for her to be like this, no other devil really did anything like that, but I love that she’s just running with this bit.

Kids playing in the first of the Tot Lot playgrounds, ca. 1935. The doors are only 42 inches high, and in the shape of a small girl dancing, so only young children can squeeze in. This one is on West 49th St between 9th and 10th Avenues.

I was a contestant on Hell's Kitchen but instead of sending the chefs Gordon Ramsay was mad at away, he'd just pull out a gun and shoot them.
