#OTD in 1889 – In the last official bare knuckle title fight ever held, heavyweight boxer, John L. Sullivan beats fellow Irishman Jack Kilrain in a world championship bout which lasts 75 rounds.
John L. Sullivan, the celebrated 19th century fist fighter embodied the spirit of a fighting Irishman. Sullivan left behind more than just a legacy of 40 wins, 2 draws and 1 loss. The Boston pugilist was a transformative figure who helped usher in a new period in ring fighting. He was the last bare-knuckle champion and also, arguably, the first heavy-weight titleholder of the gloved era.  As a…

A BOXER* and his GLOVES! Former Heavyweight Israeli Boxer ROMAN GREENBERG. MASSIVE "HARD-ON" OOOOF!" 02192024 Yeah I've been AWAY for a while. Granted some of YOU FOLKS have Surprised me, in You Guys going back through the feed again to look and select other photos. YES! I've had a few more BOUTS since the last time I mentioned getting to put on the GLOVES! The NEWBIE (he isn't much of a Newbie anymore) and I are currently using RINGSIDE 10 oz Boxing Gloves (we started out with 18 oz, then dropped to 14 oz, then to 12 oz) and up to Bout #12. He is still learning but he has managed to OUT SCORE me on occasions during any number of Rounds. Granted, THE FEW that know my "TRUE STORY" are likely STILL SHOCKED that we are STILL Boxing in this Unusual Way! To each his own! As long as a Dude is willing to Trade Punches for Fun/a Good Workout, it SHOULDN'T make ANY DIFFERENCE from what physical position we are throwing our punches from.
I will try and get back to posting more photos from Yesteryear - 2000 forward.
Greenberg's Active Career from 2001 to 2008, had a total of 38 Bouts. 6'01 230ish. - TxAmpBoxer

Jersey Joe Walcott, was an American professional boxer who competed from 1930 to 1953. He held the NYSAC, NBA, and The Ring heavyweight titles from 1951 to 1952, and broke the record for the oldest man to win the title, at the age of 37. That record would eventually be broken in 1994 by 45-year-old George Foreman. Despite holding the world heavyweight title for a relatively short period of time, Walcott was regarded among the best heavyweights in the world during the 1940s and 1950s. BOXING RECORD: Total fights 70.. Wins 49.. Wins by KO 31.. Losses 20.. Draws 1
Joe was born Arnold Raymond Cream and died on February 25, 1994 at the age of 80.

Who was gonna tell me the Challenger II’s field armor package makes that thing nearly 80 tons? 80 tons??? Britain what are you doing 😭 the Challenger II is already the heaviest & most underpowered NATO tank without all that. 1,200 horsepower for 80 TONS?? That’s 15 hp/ton. I mean that’s not…that’s not pitiful, but your contemporaries are pushing 23.2/t (M1A2) and 24-26.9/t (Leopard 2A5). Please babe, I’m begging. Be better. Even the Z-mobiles are beating you brother: 23/t (T-72B +), ~24.7/t (T-80U/BV), 21.3/t (T-90M). This is ignoring other ground vehicle types such as IFVs, surface-to-air missile defense, etc. that we have also seen fielded.
(((One should strive for a power/weight ratio of 18-20 hp per ton. Ideal is 20+. Most NATO tanks come in at 60+ tons with engines running 1,500 horsepower to the sprockets. This is a good place to be for mobility’s sake; get to positions faster, leave positions faster, being mobile when in potentially target-rich environments. Cold War Soviet & modern Russian Federation tanks tend to be a lot smaller than NATO counterparts (often in the 45-60 ton range) and, though their engines are smaller (1,000-1,250 horsepower), they are just mobile relative to weight.)))
In other news, Ukrainian armored forces are being incredibly resilient and resourceful in attaching their own homemade ERA (reactive armor; against chemical & kinetic threats) to their freshly delivered Leopards. I’m assuming they’re doing it to their Challengers as well, but I haven’t seen the pictures like I have for the Leos. Leo 2A4 with added on ERA:

In other, other news, the Kremlin is pulling T-54s and T-55s out of mothballs and reserves to be sent to the Ukrainian front. Guys, these are tanks that started service in 1948. If you’re too lazy to do math, these are 75-year-old heaps that probably haven’t seen the touch of a mechanic in two decades despite the T-54 technically still being in-service.

Bonus pics just because they look goofy: M1A2 vs T-72 & T-55 vs. Challenger II
