genuinely killing undyne in a neutral run and then walking through hotland later and seeing alphys' posts go "just realized i didn't watch undyne fight the human... well i know she's unbeatable i'll ask her about it later v . v" completely unaware of what's happened is one of the most unpleasant and harrowing experiences in undertale and i am not kidding even a little bit

Been on an ATLA animated series rewatch lately and the storm episode in S1 ATLA has me STOMPED BC IT NARRATES THE DARKEST MOMENTS OF BOTH ZUKO AND AANG'S LIVES PARALLELLY-
(SORRY I KNOW THIS MAY BE OLD NEWS BUT FOR SOME REASON I THOUGHT THESE WERE SEPERATE EPISODES BUT NO.)
But Oh, the parallel of an airbending boy who ran away from his destiny vs a firebending prince who rushed towards it too soon. With both ending in a tragedy where they were left alone grieving what they've lost..
I believe they're more of the Yin & Yang Duo of the series. (I know ppl associate that with zutara or something but they're more alike than people seem to think 🤔)

We have two series about freaking PACMAN and they're both 40+ episodes. And you're telling me CASTLEVANIA didnt have enough plot to make less than 40 episodes ?? CASTLEVANIA ????
You're really trying to tell me that someone had the inspiration to create a whole ass cartoon about pacman with only "yellow circle flees from and eats ghosts" as a premise, but "an ancestral clan trapped in a cycle of violence, trauma and grief must defeat the Dark Lord Dracula, the most powerful being to have ever existed, every 100 years. They cant escape their fate, for they are the only men capable of killing him, due to their superhuman abilities and their main weapon, the Vampire Killer, wich both have been passed down for generations since Leon Belmont, the Dark Lord's old friend, who sworn for his clan to hunt him for eternity." Is "NOT ENOUGH PLOT" ???
AND THIS IS JUST A SHORT, GLOBAL SUMMARY. THERE'S SO MUCH MORE TO CASTLEVANIA CHARACTERS AND GAMES.
Y'all need to stop insulting the original media to defend your stuff (wich wouldnt exist without said media). Dare I say, if you need to bring the games down to lift the serie up, then there's a problem with your serie. And you also need to stop giving stupid excuses to incompetent writers.
Castlevania has a heart, it was possible to make a serie out of it without butchering it.

Actually, that reminded me of the other cracky fix-it I came up with. Sarah Livsey gets a broken Shard; instead of conflict drive, it has a conflict resolution drive. However, Sarah/Lisa is even more of a little shit here than in canon, for Mentally Ill Reasons, so once she escapes her parents she sets up as an independent villain(?) aiming to verbally destroy the lives and psyches of every powerful parahuman in the Bay.
(You want to see what driving someone to suicide really looks like? Fine! I'll fucking show you!)
However, "powerful parahumans" means a lot more villains than heroes. Her first target is Bakuda, and it goes something like 0:35 to 1:26 of this:
youtube
(except Lisa is genuinely trying to insult Bakuda.)
It turns into one of those [Character] Gives Everyone Therapy fix-its, except Lisa is completely furious that her villainous rampage keeps accidentally making parahumans' lives better. At least until her own mental stability improves, thanks in part to the capes she's accidentally befriended.
And, much as my Lisa has Mentally Ill Motives, this helped me hit on my favourite way to characterise her in humour fics: "It's a beautiful day in Brockton Bay, and you are a horrible Thinker".

I'm watching Triple H and Undertaker's final match and the raw emotionality of their fight is about to make me scream. There is such passion with every move they make and dedication to a craft that a person cannot really understand until they are in it. The knowledge of knowing that you're just about at your physical limit and the wisdom to let this be your last big bang before you take a bow. The clear mutual respect between the two men and love they have for each other outside of kayfabe shines through even the storied hatred between HHH and The Deadman. In that ring were two men who are as close as brothers fighting for one last blaze of glory to put a seal on one of the largest and, arguably, most meaningful chapter of their lives.
If I'd been there in person I would have sobbed.
The way Hunter starts genuinely sobbing after doing their second to last spot, he and Taker collapse into each other truly at their physical and emotional limits...Shawn pacing outside the ring waiting until his spot is up but also tearing up watching his two closest friends have their very last match together. It was all just so poetic.
For the pin, Hunter didn't even have his eyes open and once the count was up he rolled over and kept crying. I'm sure he was mourning the end of an era.
Shawn crawls into the ring and Paul (Hunter, but at this point, he is Paul Levesque) rolls over and reaches his arms out while Shawn meets the embrace and cradles his head. This is not kayfabe. Paul Levesque just had the match of his life with one of the greatest performers to ever step foot in a squared circle. Shawn holds him while sitting for awhile before they eventually stand but they never break contact and once on their feet continue to embrace as Paul falls apart in Shawn's arms.
It's one of the few times that Shawn Michaels appears physically bigger than his best friend. In that moment he was responsible for Paul's heart, his emotion, letting him know that he was still the King of Kings and that The Undertaker now knew that. That was something that would never change. The Deadman respected him, saw him as an equal after that bout. He'd never have to battle like that again with the ferocious beast that is The Undertaker.
Even after Undertaker and Kane betray their newfound bond by attacking Triple H and Shawn Michaels, Paul is lying on his back in the ring, his eyes closed just taking in the sound and feeling of what was probably the greatest fight he had ever had with one of the greatest fighters he had ever known. With his bitter rival. Yet also, one of his closest friends.
It's all so beautiful and moving to witness. I wish I could capture that feeling in a bottle. I know it's warm, sweet, a little heady and altogether something you want to experience more than a few times.

Honestly if im not going for a Gen, then it’s either: give me an established relationship because i have no time to read about their getting together shenanigans OR give me the most complicated, complex, impossible situation for them to be together then somehow they end up together against all the odds. There is no in between for me

So, I've been reading this really intense (AOS) fanfic where McCoy gets held captive and tortured by Khan. It's so stressful that it's 81 chapters long!!! I've had enough hurt, now where's the comfort???? 😭 I started reading it 2 days ago and I'm still not done since I want to take breaks. Poor McCoy... of all the fics I've read, this is probably the most upsetting one since it's WAY longer. It's up there with "Ghost of Yourself" to how damaging it was to McCoy's psyche, but GOY mostly focuses on the aftermath. The title of this fic is "Safe"- what a contradiction! I'm ready for McCoy to get rescued now!!!

thinking about how the hunger games were designed to prove that without society, order, government, someone to rule, we devolve into little more than animals, and how the games themselves prove over and over again that this is not true. We see it in every single game we witness.
Katniss placing flowers around Rue's body in the arena. Thresh sparing Katniss because she was kind to Rue, even though he was making it that much harder for himself to win.
Haymitch going back for Maysilee after hearing her scream even though their alliance had been broken. Haymitch holding her as she dies the same way Katniss did Rue.
Coral's "I can't have killed them all for nothing" when she realizes she's not going home. Lamina cutting down Marcus at great personal risk. And, my favorite moment in tbosas, Reaper collecting the bodies of his fellow tributes, his peers, even the ones who tried to kill him, into a pile. Taking the weapons from their hands. Closing their eyes and crossing their arms in the best approximation of a proper burial he can manage, covering them with the Capitol flag as a makeshift shroud.
The Games bring out the worst in people, yes. But despite the extreme circumstances, despite the exterior pressure of the Capitol, despite the fact that it could mean pain and heartbreak and death, it also shows that people have an enormous capacity for goodness. That even in a situation purposefully designed to make empathy impossible, people can't help but have it anyway.
Snow looks at the Games and all he can see is what's inside himself-- this pure animalistic drive to conquer and defeat. He kills and it feels good and he thinks that everyone else must feel that way too. He doesn't realize (maybe can't realize) that he is the exception, not the rule. He cannot see outside himself, outside his own warped perspective, to realize that the fact that people do show humanity in the games proves his entire worldview wrong.

gale's reaction to mystra telling him to blow himself up is obviously heartbreaking but on the other hand it is deeply DEEPLY hilarious when Gale, Learned professor of renown, is like "if there was another way to defeat the absolute don't you think the goddess of magic would have thought of it" and the band of badly socialized half-feral murder children he's running with just go "well maybe the goddess of magic is stupid, gale"
