The longer you stayed at a party, the more boring it got.
Sure, getting drunk and high and fucking around with your classmates was a good time. But after hours of huddling together with sweaty drugged up teenagers and having generic music blasted into your ears, it got a bit boring.
But Billy always found a way to make it more entertaining. Normally by pulling off a rather impressive keg stand. For once, he’d offered to be the designated driver (mostly because you’d done it for the past four parties and refused to do it again), so you were downing your second drink, talking to some junior you barely knew. The buzz of a high was clouding your head, though it wasn’t enough to impair your judgment.
But apparently your boyfriend felt like pissing you off tonight.
Eventually the junior wandered off, probably to flirt with someone interested. Billy, on the other hand, was chatting up some girl from your math class. You didn’t remember her name, but you most certainly remembered the way she talked to Billy.
She gave a fake laugh, making sure to lean forward and give him a decent view of her cleavage. Not that you blamed her for trying to sleep with your boyfriend. Billy was pretty, and it’s not like she knew he had a boyfriend. So no, you didn’t hold any resentment toward the girl.
Billy, on the other hand, was in a world of hurt.
He had every chance to turn her down. Every chance to make up some half-assed excuse or just plain tell her he wasn’t into it. But no. He joked and gave her some cheesy pick-up line. The brat even had the nerve to look your way while he was doing so, giving you a wink.
You watched for a minute longer, waiting for him to make some excuse to leave. But when it was obvious he had no plans of doing so, you decided to step in for him.
“C’mon Hargrove, you’re my ride home.” Luckily your head was clear enough to make walking out easy.
Billy frowned, trying to look as disappointed as possible. “Already? But I was having fun!” The girl next to him looked sad as well, as if begging you to let him stay longer.
“Sorry, I gotta get up early tomorrow,” You said, shrugging. Tomorrow was Saturday, neither you nor Billy had anything to do. But she didn’t need to know that.
“Fine, buzzkill.”
Billy, tap dancing on your last nerve, gave the girl a wink, causing her to let out an airy giggle. You rolled your eyes, stomping out of the house. You could hear Billy mumble what was most certainly a sarcastic comment under his breath.
You sat in the passenger seat the second he opened the door, waiting as he slid into the driver’s seat a second later.
After a second of him realizing you weren’t going to speak, he started driving, the music from the party fading into the background as he did so.
“Your mom and that bastard home?” You knew the answer was no. He’d made quite a big deal about getting the house to himself while Neil dragged his step-mom and Max on a ‘family outing’. Even with Max asking, Billy was left home alone.
“No, why?” He asked, glancing over to you before his eyes returned to the road. He was perfectly aware of ‘why’, you knew that much.
“Gonna let me stay over, pretty boy?” You asked, your tone low. He nodded, quickly taking a turn to head toward his house.
The trip was short and Billy got out of the car almost immediately after you arrived. You chuckled at how eager he was, fumbling with his keys in an attempt to get in quicker.
You followed closely, heading to Billy’s room without much hesitation.
The second you got in, you closed the door, pressing Billy up against a wall.
“You got some fuckin’ nerve, Hargrove,” you spoke quietly and quickly, though you knew he heard you from how he shivered. “You tryna get my attention, or just tryna whore around with some poor girl, hm?”
He shook his head rapidly, gulping down a breath.
Billy tried his hand at being a brat often. Always teasing you, getting your attention in public. But the second you were behind closed doors, he practically melted.
“Words, baby boy.”
“No, Daddy.”
God he knew what buttons to press.
“Then why were you flirting?” You spoke softly, loving how his eyes glazed over with lust when you did so. “Giving her hope for no reason. That just seems mean, baby.”
He made a noise of disagreement, shaking his head again. “Didn’t mean to, just wanted your attention.”
You chuckled. “No, you knew exactly what you were doing.”
He opened his mouth to protest, but you slammed your lips into his before he could. You took over the kiss quickly. His arms twined around your neck, one of yours on his hip and the other gripping his hair. You gave a soft tug to his hair, forcing a loud moan out of his throat.
You slotted one thigh between his legs, giving him the chance to messily rut against you. Both your pants were tight, his jeans no doubt uncomfortable at this point.
“Pleeease just fuck me.” He was practically begging, arms tightening around you. “Please, I’m sorry for flirting with her, I won’t do it again.”
You both knew damn well he’d do it again.
“I don’t think I feel like forgiving you yet, baby.” He huffed at your words, hips still moving against your clothed thigh.
“How about this,” You suggested. You placed your hands on his shoulders, lowering him to his knees and placing your boot between his legs. “You cum in under two minutes, and I’ll fuck you so hard you won’t remember your damn name.”
He nodded rapidly, head collapsing into your leg.
He moved his hands towards his jeans, only stopping when you firmly questioned what he was doing.
"I can't use my hands?" He asked, looking slightly hopeful. As if he'd get off that easy.
“If you really want me to fuck you, you can cum like this.”
He paused for a moment. “Like ‘this’?”
You smirked, tilting his head up slightly with one finger. “You think you can cum in your jeans for me?”
He shivered, nodding fervently.
"Good boy."
He started off slow, moving his hips against the firm leather of your boot. It was just enough stimulation for his sensitive cock. He was burying his face into your jeans, mouthing at your dick over the fabric. You just let him, watching as he desperately tried to get you to force your cock down his throat.
"One minute left." He whimpered.
His thrusts sped up, messily humping your boot in an attempt to get off. Barely decipherable mumbles of "please" "Daddy" and "more" tumbled out his lips, the words jumbled together and high pitched.
"You gonna cum, whore?" You asked, spitting out the term as if it was his name. He moaned, nodding.
"Please can I? Please Daddy? Wanna cum for you so you'll fuck me, please?"
You'd barely said yes before he buried his face into your thigh, hips stuttering and slowing. Cum slowly seeped through the fabric of his boxers, and suddenly he was thankful you'd waited until he was home to ruin him.
"Good job handsome," you said, leaving down and placing a surprisingly soft kiss on his forehead. "You get your reward now."
He was practically buzzing already.

Waiting on the dial tone as you called home, Steve was alone with Teddy. So you knew to wait and give him a few rings before trying your hand again.
“Yello, Harrington Residence! Teddy ‘member what we talked about when the phone rings?” You could hear the faint giggles and little voice respond ‘Yes, Daddy.’
“Hi babies, it’s me.” You responded, tired voice evident of your distress.
“Teddy go in the living room and get your stuffy.” Steve asks him with sicky sweetness a small distraction “Hey, what’s going on? Are you okay?” Steve voice lowers his voice,
“I’m not feeling to well Stevie, boss let me off early. Could you come pick me up?”
“Yeah-yeah of course-. No not that stuffy the other one, we’re gonna go on a car ride to Nana and Pop-pop’s.” Shriek of Nana Joyce rung through the phone, splicing straight through your skull. “I’ll be there soon, just hold on for us. I’ll bring you home.”
“ ‘Mkay, love you. Don’t break any traffic laws.” You leaned against the cool metal of the phone box.
“I love you most. I’ll see you soon.” With that the dial-tone rang back and you set off to sit on the curb of the diner, waiting for your husband. He came not even 20 minutes after your phone call, parking job shoddy at the very least but all in one piece nonetheless. You stood slowly, Steve sprung out of the car opening the passenger door just shy before you could reach the handle. You leaned against him as he hugged you, arm limp at your side. Fatigue overtaking your body when you finally sat down in the car, mostly.
“You okay, Sweets?” Steve knelt down to eye level, putting his hand on along the roundness of your knees lovingly. You sighed, hunching over.
“I swear if this is the first trimester of pregnancy aches, I don’t think I could possibly give birth again without an assortment of drugs lined up at the ready.” You tried to joke, blowing a laugh out your nose. Which made Steve smile bright and big.
“Well unfortunately we burnt up the singular Russians lab years ago, so I can’t get you anything foreign.” You both laughed, “Have you eaten anything yet?”
“No, everything makes me want to puke my spleen out.” He got up and set your bag in the back, shuffling for something else behind the seat. You got the courage to swing each leg into the car. Leaning into the leather seats, it was pretty muggy outside. Steve’s head came into view again with antacid and water, along with a brownie he’d made the other night with Teddy. Dancing to Bob Segar’s greatest hits. You smiled taking the pill and the brownie, he opened the water bottle placing it between your thighs. He leaned over placing a kiss onto your forehead, unnecessarily aiding you with the seatbelt and gently closing the door before hopping in the driver's seat.
“Stevie, you shouldn’t be driving this late give me a minute. I was just scared to be by myself.”
“I’m fine, scouts honor.” You furrowed your brow at him, he was beat up so much in high school his vision and hearing is slightly impaired on one side. “I know the way home like the back of my hand, I’ve gotten used to the blurriness.” Hunger subsided but the pain slightly increased as he was driving home, something felt wrong. Pressing yours eyes shut to aid in the nausea, wringing your knuckles into the leather seats as waves crash over you they stopped with a sharp inhale.
“Hey what’s going on? Not sleeping already are we?” his eyes flickered between you and the road, placing a hand on top of your thigh. Shaking your head, realizing that probably wasn't the best idea as you fought not to get sick in Steve’s BMW. Not that it hadn’t happened before, you were both 21 for a whole year.
“I think I just over did it today, I bet a bath and definitely some sleep and cuddles will help. I’m all dizzy and cramping.” Groaning, pushing the back of your head into the cushion behind it. Holding his hand tightly, breathing through the cramps.
“Do you want to go to the hospital?” Steve asked, rubbing his thumb along your knuckles.
“It’s okay, just wanna go home and be comfortable.” You assured him as he turned to go home. When finally seeing the dim parking lot relief oozed for your shoulders as he pulled into the assigned spot. You unbuckled, he held tightly to you walking through the apartment complex, up the stairs to the apartment. Only letting go as he started a bath. Sitting on the edge of the already made bed slightly confused, everything was dizzy and blurry until Steve knelt down in front of you. Helping you to the bathroom, sitting on the toilet while the steam clouded the mirror.
“Okay, here I set everything up. If your okay being alone for a minute. I’m going downstairs to make some dinner quickly. I’ll check up on you, then we can go get Teddy from the Byers if you’re feeling better. Otherwise you know Joyce and Hop love the company now.” he kissed the top of your head closing the bathroom door behind him.
Beginning to undress, moving the water between your fingers to see how hot it was. Taking off the now ever tightening diner uniform, stopping at your underwear there was a small red spot. You’d had a rough birth with Teddy, your doctors weren’t concerned for later pregnancies. The cramps came over you once again distracting, nearly knocking the wind out of you. You quickly sunk deep into the rose scented waters, moving your hands through your wet hair. Beginning to massage your abdomen, it was extremely hard, the pressure was unbearable. Then white shocks of pain started flowing through your center, twisting relentlessly. You groaned and thrashed slightly in the water, you couldn’t catch your breath. There was burning going down your legs, you opened your shut eyes to see the water turned a bright red. You yelled for Steve in shock, pain and so many other things bottled up inside. Hyperventilating, when the door crashed open you were barely able to keep your eyes open as Steve rushed to you. Diving over your frame, lifting you out of the water and a towel wrapping around you. You saw lights flickering to and from each eye, small pinches in your arms. Darkness came over your consciousness, pain subsided.  Waves of movement and lights came about once in a while, as well as voices. Several voices through time and time again, until you opened your eyes to strange surroundings. Waking up from a really good nap, taking in your surroundings; beeping of monitors, extremely bright lights, a sickly clean smell with a mix of sale metal. Moving just your eyes around you could tell it was a hospital, there was warmth to your left hand. You dizzily tried to move your head to look over, Steve had one hand in yours while the rest of himself was toppled over leaning on the other propped up by his legs. Rubbing and scratching at his scalp,
"Stevie?" You said just above a whisper, his eyes met yours. He jumped forward on his feet, leaning over the bed.
“Baby? Oh my god,” he brushed your hair from your face, endlessly kissing everywhere. Feather light kisses on your hand, cheek, temple, jaw and forehead, “I thought I wouldn’t see those beautiful eyes soon enough, Jesus Christ,” he pressed a button on the wall and a faint red light flickered. You yawned with a dry mouth, suddenly aware you are hooked up to the beeping machines. Along with an IV and Blood bag, there was also something taped to your leg. You shifted trying to sit up comfortably when an extremely tall older man pushed the curtain open.
"Woah, hold on there Mrs. Harrington. You're quite freshly out of the ER. I'm an anesthesiologist, just checking you feel alright before I get Dr. Kerr. Any confusion, chills or feelings of vomiting?” you shook your head, feeling some drowsiness but overall not terrible.
“Great, and any pain I should alert your charge Nurse of?” you shook your head again, moving your taped up hand over your stomach feeling excessive fabric there. You looked at Steve who held tension in his eyes, “alright well, I wish you a speedy recovery ma’am, I’ll let my colleague know you’re ready.” the man wrote something on the clipboard, before walking out and shutting the curtains again.
“Hey, you’re here. That’s the only thing that matters-” Steve started.
“What happened? Is the baby okay?” you asked him scared, his face contorted with pain. Sitting back down pulling his tiny chair closer, hanging his head in shame. Red, all I saw was red. Those words were so similar to ones said to you, what seemed like a lifetime ago. They rang through you like a séance but desired something else this time, you felt Steve’s other arm reach up holding yours fully in place. He was shaking before he came up for air,
“I’m sorry Sweetheart, there’s nothing I could do. I-” The curtain ripped out to reveal a stout man your primary doctor and a even tinier woman full of gusto. Who you knew to be Dr. Kerr and a probable Nurse,
“Evening Mr. and Mrs. Harrington. Just wanted to give you a final diagnosis as well as some time for us to discuss after care.” Steve wiped his face, you looked at the wrinkles in the curtain. Dazed with all the drugs you were probably on, everything felt dry. You didn’t even realize you were smacking your lips until a cup appeared in front of you. It was ice chips with a spoon added to the top, the woman handing it to you nodded before stepping back behind where Dr. Kerr had sat across from Steve. “Mrs. Harrington, do you remember much?” you shook your head in response, Steve reached out to hold the cup as your free hand scooped up ice slowly. The cold crunch sent a shiver down your spine, a hand still tangled with Steve’s rings rolling against each other. “Then please know that I’m giving you the facts and that it may indeed be hard to hear.” you took another scoopful, making short eye contact with Steve before putting the spoon back into the cup. "We weren't able to save the baby, it was an ectopic pregnancy. Have you heard of them before?” You shook your head. “It was the main cause of the abdominal hemorrhage or severe bleeding, so you unfortunately miscarried…” You swallowed hard, looking at Dr. Kerr for the first time since giving birth to Teddy. His eyes were a dark blue, rich with knowledge and no doubt pain. You felt your heart grow heavy, breathing then swallowing. Repeating the word over and over again.
“Miscarried.” You said out loud, out of body only stating it as he did without hesitation.
“Yes, there would have been no way to save it. It's very important that you know it's not your fault, as well the risks moving forward fertility wise are concerning but always possible." You felt so many things at once; numb, angry, relieved more than anything from the pain. Steve’s voice churned you from your thoughts,
"Why's that?" Steve asked, holding your hand a bit closer to his chest.
"More often than not after one ectopic miscarriage, the risk for another one is extremely high. About 1 in every 10 women, which is more than a simple miscarriage. As well, since we did have to expel the rest of the fetus. We have no way to measure fertility until the future, it determines how suitable the uterus will be unless we simply try other means of procreation. Those I'm afraid are very expensive but worth the health and wellness of your partner. If you wish to continue to have a child once she’s healed, you're both fairly young. There will be plenty of time for you Mrs. Harrington." Your heart was shattering, tear slipping into the collar over your starchy hospital gown, Steve pinched his nose sniffling with you.
"I would like to keep you here for at least 24 hours if that's alright, you may stay with her unless they run a test or scan Mr. Harrington. Otherwise, you'll be shown some exercises by physical therapist to prevent blood clots. To just give us more peace of mind that you will not hemorrhage again. Since the blood loss was towards the extreme as well as the circumstances. I do not want to take any chances, despite how much I enjoy your family.” Looking at Dr. Kerr you gave him a hopeful smile, “You'll be moved into a private room shortly for the remainder of your stay, I have walks scheduled every four hours for you to do with a Medical Assistant. Until they clear you from a one person assist, please do not try to do much but the assigned walking and of course eating in an hour would be fine. Is there anything else I can do for you tonight or questions that you have?" He reached out holding your shoulder comfortingly, like a father figure would.
“No.” You shook your head, tears hadn't stopped since he entered but your breath finally catching when you spoke clued the other into your own misery, guilt swarming between all of you.
“Our family is in the lobby, when can they see her?” Steve asks for you, you look up from the curtain across the walls to his face. His eyes, red, heavy with dark circles and so swollen, lips dry and his hair a mess. He looked so young next to you, you were both so young barely 25.
“As soon as she is completely aware from the general anesthesia, and moved to the private room. However, now that she is awake I will need you to step outside into the hall Mr. Harrington.” You shoot your eyes to the doctor.
“Why?” you ask, your voice is so quiet and hoarse.
“Just a precaution while my nurse asks you a series of questions. Because of how tragic the event was we just need to ensure somethings.” You start to speak, but Steve squeezes your hands.
“It’s okay, Sweets. They probably just, just want to confirm my story. I’ll be right in the hall waiting for them to be done.” Steve stands from the chair pulled next to your bed, and places your hand on the side of the bed before walking out with the doctor. You finally notice Steve is in light brown scrubs, they open the curtain where dozen of others are either alone or holding their sick loved ones.
“Oh I almost forgot, sorry it’s my on-call night. But healing should be about 2 to 4 weeks, so nothing should be inserted into your body after they remove the catheter.” You curtly nodded at him again as Steve walked with him shaking Dr. Kerr’s hand. Shortly after a tall dark skinned woman in dark blue scrubs comes over and closes the curtain.
“Hello Mrs. Harrington, I’m Nurse Maywood. I need to ask you a series of questions, are you alright with that?”
“Yes, ma’am.” She moves to the foot of your bed so you don’t have to strain to see her.
“Alright I need you to answer as truthfully as possible each time. First one, how are things going at home?” You almost laugh, until her raised eyebrow shows signs of extreme seriousness.
“We’ve been working a lot, both my husband and I. While taking care of our young son, until tonight things have been blissful.”
“Has any of yours or Mr. Harrington’s behavior's changed due to this pregnancy?”
“No.” Her brow raised again, (blanking) you to continue. “I’m sorry, is Steve in trouble?”
“Mrs. Harrington we just want to ensure your health and safety.”
“Steve is a wonderful husband and father, he picked me up when I started having pain tonight despite taking care of our son as well. He has never emotionally or physically hurt me or my child.”
“That’s enough for me, Ms. I am truly sorry for your loss, and do recommend postpartum therapy for all women I see. You are not alone.”
“Yes, I appreciate the gesture. I just need my family now.” She smiles, respectfully leaving bringing Steve to you again. Followed by more Nurses in scrub but the original pitete Nurse from Dr. Kerr.
“Hey, you needed me? Did everything go okay?” you nod at him, with a somber smile. The two people look at your chart, one walks away before one begins to speak to you.
“Y/N Harrington? We’re about to move you to a private room now, if you just step aside for a minute Mr. Harrington.” You push yourself up on the pillow a little, still extremely numb in your abdomen. The woman comes back with a large wheelchair, then takes your IV and other monitors and puts them on the tall pole attached to the back of the chair. Steve pats your head and moves out of their way, the man who spoke to you draws the curtain. They both put on gloves, Steve staying by your head as they removed your catheter. Running his hand through your hair, soothingly. They wiped everything, before coming back up to speak to you.
“Alright honey, we're going to do a two person assist to get you into the wheelchair. Since you're still quite numb and drowsy, each of us is going to take hold of the support under you, you’ll sit up completely, she’ll move your legs off the side of the bed while I hold you upright. Then we’ll use a belt above your sternum and pivot you to the wheelchair. Sound like a plan?” You nod and do exactly as they instruct, to their surprise you have more strength than they thought. “Thanks Shelby. Alright Mr. Harrington if you’ll just follow us.” it’s quite a way before he carts you into a room. The belt still strapped to your chest he pivots and assists you into the bed by himself while Steve watches from the foot of the bed. The man leaves you two alone, closing the door behind him. Steve doesn’t move, until you reach your hand out to him. He forces a smile, walking around and grabbing it with both hands. You pat the side of the bed, and try to scootch over making room for him.
“Hey, hey. I don’t want you hurting yourself, careful.” He stops your hips,
“I just want you to hold me,” you say innocently through your lashes, Steve instantly melts. Putting his arms under your legs and behind your back moving you over just enough that he can lay sideways next to you. You have to lay on your back but it doesn’t mean you can’t turn your face to his. You brush the hair away from his eyes, caressing the side of his face, he sighs as his heavy eyes close.
“We should let them know you're awake,” he whispers to you, eyes closed. Holding the forearm caressing his face, the other had the IVs still attached so you kept it against your midsection. His free arm draped across your lap, below.
“We should get some sleep first, where’s Teddy?” he props his head on his hand with his elbow flush against the bed, trying to avoid sleep.
“He’s with Aunt Robin and Dustin at home. So just Joyce and Hopper. Nancy and Jonathan have been keeping the others updated. Everyone went to the Wheelers to wait for news.” he yawns huge at the word news.
“So you haven’t slept for like, over 36 hours?” he shrugged.
“I was terrified, Robin kept me updated on Teddy I was able to say goodnight to him. He-he doesn’t know yet, I didn’t know what to say. I don’t think-”
“Steve, one thing at a time. You need to sleep. It’s okay we’ll figure it out, this is not good for you.” he groaned neck cracking as he rolled off the bed.
“And I will, but first. I’m going to go get them and get us some refreshments and gross hospital food.” grabbing his wallet from the front of his brown scrub pants. “Also Joyce brought clothes for us and these are a little ripe.” He pulls at the collar of his scrubs, and grabs the call button clipping it to your pillow. “I’ll be right back, promise.” You take hold of the hand he was using and press the side of your face with it.
“I would kiss it but we’re in a hospital, and I don’t know when you last washed them.”
“Yeah that’s fair,” He leans down leaving you with the impression of his kiss on your temple and thoughts. Caressing the side of your face before walking out the door. After a minute of contemplating you pull the sheet down and slowly bring the nightgown up. You of course weren’t wearing anything except this thin gown, ribbed gray socks and a ginormous diaper they slipped on after removing the catheter. Holding your mouth to quiet the sobs, you needed to calm down before they came back. They were all already so worried about you, so much you can’t imagine how Steve was still standing. You let your mind wander until feeling like you had to go to the bathroom, it hurt to let it sit in your bladder so you pressed the call button. After a few moments there was a knock on the door, someone announced themselves before entering, “Hello, Mrs. Harrington, what can I help you with?”
“Am I allowed to use the restroom with assistance or do-do I have to pee myself?” You asked quietly,
“Great question, if you're uncomfortable standing right now. You can most definitely use the alternative, but it is good to start moving right away. Just like you normally would postpartum.” She helped you use the restroom, changing the pull up as you continued to bleed. She assured you, it will likely occur for a couple days until your hormones balance again. There was a small shower and everything in this room, you were probably in Labor and Delivery now.  You were able to wash your hands and wipe your face off a bit, before leaving she helped you to an upright position in the bed and got you some ice chips. It took about 15 minutes total. She made you feel more human. Instead of overwhelming you with information she was making you as comfortable as possible. Knocks clambered the door, opening to reveal your family. The answer to salvation in the darkest of times.

Cw: small mentions of past sexual assault by a priest
Tumblr media
Everything had been set for New Years.
Having learned his lesson about inviting the Riley-De Souza-Rosales and other surnames attached to Eva’s family over for thanksgiving, now most major celebrations were to be held in Rockwood Hall now that it has become the seat of the Riley Clan.
Gina had come once during the summer but then got into a tiff with one of the younger girls over something stupid like all teenage girls do. It had been irritating, getting interrupted in the middle of the night because Gina had learned the hard way quiet little Nayeli was the daughter of a professional spy and assassin.
He loved his niece, his only family besides Eva and the children, but she was even more of a handful than their four children at seventeen.
“Will you two be good boys for Nanny?” he asks the twin boys who turn five in May. Joseph was the more active of the two, but Junior made up for his sickly nature by being the brains.
It had been Junior who decided their mama’s pearls and daddy’s pocket watch were going to be the buried treasure when playing pirates, that they should hide in the washing machine to scare Alice the maid and even worse, switch places.
Luckily Jack knew his namesake was slightly shorter than his older identical twin brother and Eva was magical and read auras or some shit like that.
Most people, especially Eva’s older relatives like her bitch aunt Livia or her uncle Benito with the bad eyesight confused them to hell and back.
Little Jack, being his father’s son, used that to his advantage.
“Yes, sir.” The boy said as he had taught them too and for good measure Jack asked to see their hands so they don’t cross their fingers.
Even Rosie made her trouble despite her delays in growth. Took longer to walk and talk and do things other children did, but she could give most nannies a run for their money if she didn’t like you.
“Rosemary, sweetheart, daddy didn’t hear you.”
She smiled mischievously and batted her eyelashes as she bit her new sleeve to shreds, a habit they found cute even if a bit concerning, and only nodded in response.
Didn’t help at all that Rosie looked like Gina, not his niece, but his baby sister who died of consumption so she got away with things the boys could never.
“Alright, if you don’t feel like talking this morning, I’ll let it pass this once.” The gangster turned millionaire relented as he always did.
Besides the most trouble Rosie would cause would be wanting to sleep with them because of those nightmares she has of the man in the white coat.
Jack wouldn’t begrudge her that, he still has nightmares about the priest who raped his sisters and tried to do the same to him.
“How long do you think they’ll behave for, husband?” Eva asks as she settled with one year old Katherine in the passenger seat of their car.
“Won’t even make it out of the street.” It’s not that the youngest bank president in America didn’t trust their word, he just knew he and his witch would never make angels.
And sure enough they hear one of the maids find a fake spider in Kitty’s basinet as Jack pulls out of the driveway.
“It was me! It was me!” Rosie admits with joy knowing damn well she won’t get disciplined for it.

Rockwood Hall is/was the country home of JD Rockefeller and until it was demolished, the second largest house in America. Was sold in 1922 after he died, and in this universe the Rileys bought it since they were all exiled from Mexico by then.
Rosemary Kennedy was disabled and lobotomized in the 1940s at the age of 23 after her impairment worsened, we don'tknow what she had as her family kept everything including her very hidden after the lobotomy left her permanently disabled. Rosie Nelson is disabled since she is based off her.
Jack's famous first meeting with Tommy, he tells him his first kill was the priest who tried to sexually abuse him, in the fic the priest had already sexually assaulted his older and younger sisters.

I saw you photo of the ship you sail in response to Lucy Bellwood’s sail anatomy and would love to hear more about it! I’ve never seen a square rigger with … is that a tiny crane for loading? So cool!
What's this? An excuse to talk about The Best Barque In The World, SV Tenacious? Well, I don't mind if I do!
Tumblr media
First, yes, that is a tiny crane. She actually has two of them, for launching the two RHIBs.
Tumblr media
She also has a more traditional derrick, essentially a human-powered crane, which is used for loading heavy stuff and setting up the gangways.
Tenacious is far from being a traditional ship. She was launched in 2000, and is the only tall ship currently operating* that was designed specifically to be sailed by a disabled crew.
This means:
wheelchair lifts throughout the ship
decks wide enough for wheelchairs**
a talking compass, so people with visual impairments can't avoid taking their turn on the wheel!
power assisted steering and a joystick for people with limited dexterity
wheelchair clamps by the wheel, and seating for those who can't stand for long periods. (And for those who just don't want to, when there's a perfectly comfortable chair right there!)
rigging for a harness to allow people with limited mobility to get into the RHIBs
ascender systems that allow wheelchair users to take themselves up the masts. (Here's a photo of someone doing just that last week.)
Tumblr media
On the more mundane side, there are showers with seats, handrails and adjustable showerheads. There are two or three clos-o-mat toilets, and the majority of the toilets are wheelchair-accessible. There are bunks which have anchor points for wheelchairs, and lifts to get in and out of the bunk.
More than that, however, is the ethos of the ship. There are no passengers on Tenacious. Everybody is part of the crew. Everybody stands their watch (and if I could get out of the morning watch, 4am-8am, I absolutely would). Everybody does their mess duty. Everybody takes part in happy hour (cleaning the ship - both the romantic stuff of the scrubbing the deck and the less so of scrubbing the toilets).
Everybody is assigned a buddy when they join the ship. If you're disabled, this is the person you turn to when you need a bit of extra help. (I have CFS. On my first voyage, I pushed myself so hard, because I wanted to get the absolute most out of the experience, that I ended up curled up on my bunk and sobbing because I was too tired to go and eat dinner. My buddy went and spoke to the cook and brought me a meal in my bunk.)
However, if your buddy isn't around, you can ask absolutely anybody, and they'll do it without making a big deal of it.
The Tenacious ethos is that everybody has something to offer, and everybody sometimes needs help. It doesn't matter whether you're disabled, currently able-bodied, or just completely unable to remember which bit of string to pull. You'll never be shouted at, and you'll never be made to feel a burden.
If my hard sell has worked and you want to sail on Tenacious - guess what? YOU CAN!
She's owned and operated by the Jubilee Sailing Trust and you can book a voyage on their website. There are bursaries available to help with cost.
*JST used to operate two tall ships. Unfortunately, COVID and financial issues meant the STS Lord Nelson was taken out of service, and is currently sitting semi-derelict in a Welsh dock, hoping for a buyer.
**Unfortunately, she can only take manual wheelchairs. Powered chairs are largely too heavy and too bulky, and also class as a fire risk. (Batteries and a lot of water aren't generally a good combination.)

as a blue ridge rock festival 2023 survivor i’m imagining l&co going to a rock/metal festival and it’s CARNAGE right (this is based on my experience with festivals in the u.s. i’ve never been to any in europe LMAO) also obligatory @wellgoslowly tag <3
the three of them go for all 4 days with on-site camping but they decide to share a single tent because “it’ll be cheaper and we already live together so how bad can it be?” BAD VERY BAD. fortunately, the weather was good but lucy forgot to take into account how much she and george snack when they get stressed. her and george take turns driving to and from the festival (lockwood is a registered passenger princess i love him but also don't trust him behind the wheel), but lucy is the one to park in the campground as george made several domestic and international terror threats if he had to pull into "that shitshow of a lot, are you mad?? who's idea was this, anyways? not mine, that's for sure. park the damn car without killing us, please and thank you." their three sleeping bags barely fit the floor of the tent, so the first night they spend practically curled up together. george, unable to handle the sheer amount of LocklyleTM, decides to sleep in the car for the rest of the weekend. lucy and lockwood try to sleep in an inconspicuous/non-awkward way, but somehow find themselves tangled up in each other's arms. neither of them comment on this, but they also don't separate right away (they make me sick). they all wear matching noise-muffling headphones that lucy made for them (lucy's hearing is already somewhat impaired and she takes care of her body; george bitches about his hearing being fine despite staying close enough to be able to touch the stage for every set he attends and complaining about a "weird ringing noise" constantly; lockwood never takes his off, even sleeping with them on - lucy drew little hearts on his). the three of them also spent the week leading up to the festivals making kandi bracelets to hand out, which earns them some friends they keep for years.
lockwood (the masochist that he is) has the time of his life all weekend. he’s thriving on the loud music and shitty overpriced food. he desperately wants to mosh but doesn’t realize that you don’t really have to ask to join, and his first few attempts just result in him either acting as a wall or getting pushed out of the way entirely. once he finally pushes his way into a decent-sized pit, he instantly gets sucker punched and george has to take him to the first aid tent (they give him a small bottle of water and tell him to “take it easy”). he doesn't sing along for any sets he attends, instead enjoying hearing the combination of the band and the audience. he stays on the festival grounds from first set to last, and when he returns to the campsite he spends several more hours chatting with their neighbors. he loves discovering new bands and genres despite how picky he is and gets along great with the people he stands around (except the person that kept talking shit about metallica). music is a great escape for him and helps him pass the time in his everyday life. it acts as a grounding force in his life, and something about the heavy bass provided by the live music gives him a sense of reality. despite his increasing lack of sleep each night he somehow is more energized each day. this baffles lucy and george, who are running on the fumes of fumes. hypothetically his positive attitude would make him an ideal tentmate, except for the unfortunate fact that not only are the showers largely inaccessible but he gets it into his head that “there aren’t showers in the wild; therefore, i don’t need to take any.” lucy and george set him straight the second night with some not so thinly veiled threats.
lucy is the one to suggest the festival as a “much needed vacation.” she is also the first to regret actually following through on it. she spends the hottest parts of the day in the shade of their campsite, usually only showing up for the headliners at the end of the night as well as some smaller bands she researched ahead of time. although george teases her for "hiding," she ends up being the only one to make it out without any medical issues or injuries. she makes sure to pack the right amount of food for the three of them as well as budgeting for festival food but she would rather die than pay $13 for a slice of pizza. she designates herself as the merch martyr, standing in line for two hours to get the three of them anything and everything they could afford (one shirt each and a magnet for their kitchen). however much she complains, though, she fully enjoys herself the whole time. she allows herself the freedom to relax in what would otherwise be a stressful environment for her, and she makes a few good friends. like lockwood, music is an escape for her, but instead of giving her a sense of reality, she finds it gives her an outlet to be someone she usually isn't. in a large crowd, with no one's eyes on her and any internal thoughts muffled by the loud music, she can let go and lose herself to the experience. she doesn't mosh but instead stands to the side and observes the moshers and crowd surfers. she becomes so wrapped up in the performances that, despite knowing all of the songs, often doesn't sing along.
george, like myself, has a myriad of health conditions, so the fact that he survived the entire weekend is surprising enough. lucy enlists lockwood's help to hold a gun to george's head to force him to take his binder off periodically. he hasn't had a drop of water in months and certainly isn't planning on starting now, which frustrates lucy to no end. the only compromise he makes is purchasing a case of gatorade, which he chugs half of and promptly vomits up all within the first day. he isn't a huge fan of moshing but he gets dragged into a few energetic ones and finds himself having fun. although he, like lucy, researched and planned ahead on who he wanted to see, he prefers to spend most of the day wandering around the grounds and sitting in on groups he didn't know if he has the time. for the groups he plans for, however, he's a bit of a scary fan. he knows all the lyrics, the band members' names, details of their careers, etc. he knows the setlist ahead of time even though he could sing each all of their songs perfectly from memory and excitedly tells the people around him what song was coming next. he starts arguments with a few people on the subgenres of metal, but also manages to get a cute guy's contact info after crossing each other's paths at a few different sets. to him, music is the only way he feels understood. he often doesn't know how to verbally explain his feelings, and there's something about music that he finds accesses deep within him. he passes out three times during the first day (lucy was there for the third one and exploded when he told her about the other two) but manages to only pass out one more time over the rest of the weekend.
skull is forced to stay home by himself despite insisting on being taken along [he will remember this]. the magnet lucy gets, however, satisfies him.

A drunk driver who crashed his car in Whitehorse in 2019, killing two of his passengers and injuring a third, wants his impaired driving convictions overturned.
The Yukon Court of Appeal heard Anthony Andre's case Thursday, with lawyer Vincent Larochelle arguing the trial judge didn't fully consider the evidence before him — including evidence Larochelle claimed should have raised a reasonable doubt about Andre's guilt.
Judge Peter Chisholm found Andre guilty last year of two counts of impaired driving causing death and one count of impaired driving causing bodily harm after a judge-alone trial.
Andre, now 25, had twice the legal limit of alcohol in his system and was driving four of his friends along Hamilton Boulevard in the early hours of May 13, 2019, when his car left the pavement and slammed into a light post before coming to a stop in the opposite lane. Eighteen-year-old passengers, Stallion Smarch and Faith-Lynn Papineau, were both killed and another passenger was seriously injured, while Andre and the fourth passenger were relatively unharmed. Talcott- Noise-Induced Hearing Impairment HC1
It’s specifically a noise-induced hearing loss in his right ear.
Got tinnitus in both ears at the age of 9 from being constantly exposed to loud noises like Cid’s weapon machine, the outpost generators, being near the hunters’/glaives’ training area where the use of firearms is allowed, etc. In that first year the high-pitched ringing in his ears came and went occasionally and hardly bothered the boy so he initially never addressed it as an issue, until it worsened over the next few years.
Tagging along one day with a hunter/glaive who wielded firearms caused the beginning of Tal’s hearing loss at the age of 12. While another case of tinnitus happened in both ears lasting another few weeks, it was only his right that experienced the gradual hearing loss. Dustin was the first to find out about his being hard of hearing when the man was near the boy’s right side, almost yelling Tal’s name out and still couldn’t get his attention. By age 13 his hearing is completely gone in his right ear.
Fearing he may lose hearing in both ears eventually, Tal had Iris teach him Galahdan sign language during their free time (since she’d learned it thanks to Axis Arra) and over time he’d also gotten quite good at lip-reading-- which actually helps him greatly during most social interactions because he embarrassingly struggles with looking people in the eyes. He finds signing with close companions incredibly helpful during hunts and assignments, too, especially when they need to keep noise to a minimum.
These days if people are unable to sign to him during conversations, he makes sure to stay on his companion(s)’ right side if possible so that he doesn’t miss out on anything they say. It’s different being the driver in his truck, though, since the cabin of the truck is small and enclosed, he can still hear the those on the passenger side with his left ear, so long as they speak out clearly over the vehicle’s noises.

What Is a DOT Physical?
Tumblr media
A DOT physical is a comprehensive physical examination that the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) requires for people who hold commercial driver’s licenses (CDLs) and are employed as commercial vehicle drivers.
CDL drivers must take and pass this exam every 24 months. It is required to protect public safety by ensuring commercial drivers are physically and mentally fit to drive.
Who is Required to Get a DOT Physical?
The following drivers must get a DOT physical exam:
Those who transport hazardous materials are required to affix a placard to their trucks
Those who operate vehicles designed to carry 15+ people
Those who are employed to operate vehicles carrying more than eight passengers
Those who operate vehicles with gross weights of more than 10,000 pounds
What Does a DOT Physical Consist of?
1. Vision Test
CDL drivers must have a minimum 20/40 visual acuity in both eyes. This can include corrected vision with eyeglasses or contact lenses.
The examiner will also test to ensure the driver has a minimum peripheral vision of at least 70″ in both eyes.
2. Hearing Test
Examiners test the driver’s hearing to see whether he or she can hear a “forced whisper” from five feet away or less.
A driver can pass the hearing exam with or without the use of hearing aids.
The forced whisper test checks to see whether the driver has a hearing loss in their good ear of fewer than 40 decibels.
3. Blood Pressure and Pulse Checks
The blood pressure and pulse rate of the driver will be taken.
The examiner will check for irregular heartbeats and hypertension.
4. Urine Test
Drivers must undergo urine tests as a part of the DOT physical.
The examiner will analyze the sample for indicators of underlying health conditions, including diabetes.
5. Sleep Apnea Test
Drivers who report the following symptoms might have to undergo a sleep apnea test:
Daytime fatigue or drowsiness
Headaches in the morning
Sore throat/dry mouth upon waking
Gasping while sleeping
Heavy snoring
6. Physical Examination
During the physical examination, the medical examiner will check the driver’s:
Overall appearance
Eyes (to check for specific conditions, including glaucoma, cataracts, macular degeneration, and others)
Ears (to check for problems such as perforated ear drums, tympanic membrane scarring, and others)
Throat and mouth (to check for swallowing or breathing problems)
Heart (to listen for extra sounds, heart murmurs, and other issues)
Chest and lungs (to check for respiratory conditions)
Driver’s abdomen (to check for muscle weakness, liver enlargement, and visceral issues)
Vascular system (to check for abnormal pulse rates, varicose veins, and carotid problems)
Genito-urinary system (to look for hernias)
Extremities (to check for limb deformities or defects that could interfere with driving)
Spine and musculoskeletal system
Neurology (to check for neurological impairments and reflexes)
DOT Disqualifying Medical Conditions
Drivers with certain physical or mental health conditions will be disqualified from driving.
Depending on the disqualifying condition, however, they might be able to get an exemption from the FMCSA based on a statement from their doctor that they are safe to drive.
Disqualifying Physical Conditions
Loss of a hand, foot, leg, or arm unless they have received a skill performance evaluation certificate
Hand or finger disorders that prevent grasping
Limb defects or impairments that prevent drivers from safely operating a commercial vehicle
Diabetes mellitus, including insulin-controlled diabetes without an exemption
Cardiovascular disease or congestive heart failure
Respiratory disease that could result in loss of consciousness
High blood pressure that could interfere with the safe operation of a commercial vehicle
Musculoskeletal disorders that could interfere with the safe operation of a commercial vehicle
Epilepsy and other conditions that could result in a loss of consciousness
Visual acuity in either eye with or without correction of greater than 20/40
Peripheral vision of less than 70″ in either eye
Red/green colorblindness
Hearing loss that can’t be corrected to less than 40 dB or less from five feet away
Disqualifying Mental Conditions
Drivers must also meet the DOT mental health requirements, including rules for taking certain prescription drugs such as antidepressants.
Some disqualifying mental conditions include the following:
Major depressive disorders with a history of suicidal or homicidal ideations, psychosis, or suicide attempts
Psychotic disorders
Antisocial personality disorders
Obsessive-compulsive disorders
Bipolar disorders
DOT Disqualifying Medications for 2024
Under FMCSA rules, drivers will be disqualified if they use any Schedule I controlled substance. This prohibition includes marijuana even if the driver has a prescription for it.
The FMCSA also states that a CDL driver who takes a prescription medication without a valid prescription will be disqualified.
In addition to the DOT physical, CDL drivers must submit a urine sample for a DOT drug test, which checks for recent use of the following illicit substances:
Marijuana
Cocaine
Amphetamines (methamphetamine, amphetamine, MDMA, or MDA)
Opiates (heroin, oxycodone, hydrocodone, morphine, codeine, oxymorphone, hydromorphone)
Phencyclidine (PCP)
Drivers can also be disqualified for taking any other scheduled drug, including amphetamines, benzodiazepines, and others that are habit-forming or narcotic.
When a CDL driver has a valid prescription from a licensed medical doctor for a non-schedule I drug, they won’t be disqualified if the doctor has advised them that the drug will not adversely affect their ability to drive after reviewing their medical history.

Accessibility and EasterCon
I belong to a discussion forum called Ship of Fools, and recently they have been discussing accessibility issues under the title "What would a disabled-friendly world look like?"
So I gave them my impressions of accessibility at EasterCon:
I've just come back from EasterCon at the Telford International Centre, which seems to have done quite well on catering for a range of disabilities. The passenger lift was reserved for mobility scooters and those who had trouble with stairs, though one lady with a larger than usual mobility scooter was using the goods lift - she said that the staff were very helpful there. There was also a Quiet Room, and a Silent Room, for anyone who wanted to get away from the hustle and bustle for a while. For some reason, the building had been designed with a slope between two levels of the upper floor, and one chap with a manual wheelchair needed help to go up it. The building also has high ceilings and good ventilation, which helped with Covid mitigation - attendees were asked to mask but only about half of them did, meaning that some vulnerable attendees were reluctant to go to panels in the smaller rooms. Some of the Glasgow WorldCon committee were there - that's happening in August - and I think they will be taking note of what worked and what didn't for their event.
There is a different committee every year for EasterCon - but next year's committee will be led by James Bacon, who was the Chair of Dublin WorldCon, as the Con will be in Belfast. Dublin WorldCon worked very hard to be accessible. He and Tommy Flanagan made a presentation at the EasterCon business meeting, and they are very keen to be accessible next year too. EasterCon had the use of several mobility scooters which had been provided by Dublin WorldCon, and I presume they'll be used next year, too. As far as air quality goes, there was a generous donation of CO2 monitors, which were in all the smaller rooms. I've been following the discussion on Discord for the Con and only one person has reported a possible positive test for covid - which is quite different from last year, when people were reporting covid during the Con itself (and following the panels from their rooms virtually). Most of the panels are available for catch up virtually, and some people were attending virtually. In fact, one of the guest speakers was in Washington, and another was in Amsterdam. There was an Indian guest speaker too - I'm not sure where he was speaking from, but it may have been India. For hearing impairment, there were seats set aside in each room for a hearing loop. I'm not sure what was done for blind or partially sighted people, but I did see a couple of blind people at the Con.

How a Collision Avoidance System Can Keep Your Fleet Safe?
Tumblr media
The collision avoidance system emerges as an innovative technology with the primary objective of averting potential injuries and ensuring the safety of passengers. Undoubtedly, underscoring the significance of road safety is imperative in curbing the incidence of accidents resulting in harm. However, the utility of collision avoidance extends beyond the realm of highway-bound vehicles.
One of its key applications in industrial context is related to forklifts operating within workplace environments. By adopting the anti-collision warning system, both the operators and the forklifts experience a heightened safety level.
Diverse workplaces encompassing factories, warehouses, construction sites, mining facilities, and shipyards are swiftly recognising the indispensable value of the collision warning system. Projections indicate a substantial increase in the worth of the forklift collision avoidance system by 2028. This technology's escalating significance might instigate companies' inquiries regarding how precisely the collision avoidance system can safeguard their fleets.
Without further delay, let us embark on a journey into elucidating the operational mechanisms and merits of the collision avoidance system.
How Does the Collision Avoidance System Work?
The fundamental objective of the collision avoidance system centres on averting collisions involving forklifts. This is achieved by integrating a collision detection system and a proximity alert module, which jointly furnish real-time location awareness to in-motion forklifts. Consequently, when two forklifts approach each other, an automatic reduction in speed or a complete halt occurs.
This positioning awareness extends beyond forklift-to-forklift interactions and encompasses the interplay between pedestrians and forklifts. In scenarios where pedestrians manoeuvre around forklifts, the forklifts' velocity is diminished, and pedestrians receive timely notifications. The overarching goal is to establish a workplace environment that prioritises the safety of operators, pedestrians, and forklifts, all facilitated by accident prevention measures.
The collision avoidance system can be implemented for both pedestrians and vehicles, encompassing specialised equipment for pedestrians and fixed readers installed within vehicles. Pedestrians are alerted to their proximity to vehicles through the utilisation of high-frequency technology integrated into the vehicles. This system holds particular significance within loading zones frequented by trucks, forklifts, and other vehicles. As a testament to its emphasis on health and safety, the accident avoidance system continues solidifying its presence within the overarching regulatory frameworks companies adopt.

Indoor, outdoor, and cooler applications
Significant loss prevention benefits
Collision Avoidance System Between Forklifts
Utilising cutting-edge high-precision technology, the anti-collision warning system imparts precise location awareness to forklifts. Within this framework, predefined proximity thresholds are seamlessly integrated into the forklifts, orchestrating speed adjustments and halts based on these thresholds. The collision avoidance system employs a combination of visual cues and audible alerts to furnish vital information to operators, enabling them to navigate their vehicles with heightened safety awareness, especially when encountering neighbouring forklifts.
The synergy between artificial intelligence and this technology seamlessly functions across indoor and outdoor environments. Incorporating specialised map systems driven by artificial intelligence further enhances the operational scope within workplace premises. These systems can also impose certain restrictions within hazardous zones, ensuring enhanced safety protocols.
Given that the crux of collision avoidance revolves around forklift safety, managerial oversight is facilitated through dedicated platform tools, allowing for comprehensive monitoring of forklift movements.
Collision Avoidance System Between Forklifts and Pedestrians
The central objective of this technology is to ascertain and manage the proximity between pedestrians and forklifts. When pedestrians traverse predefined safety thresholds, an integrated visual and auditory alert is activated, effectively cautioning pedestrians and forklift operators. This collision avoidance system proves particularly invaluable in areas with limited visibility, fostering heightened awareness and interaction between forklifts and pedestrians. In instances where pedestrians might not perceive the visual and auditory cues, the wearable equipment employs tactile vibrations as an additional alert mechanism.
Crucially, the effectiveness of this system is accentuated by the often noisy settings encountered in environments such as factories, shipyards, or warehouses. Moreover, the collision avoidance system plays a pivotal role in ensuring the safety of employees with visual or hearing impairments. The wearable devices can take the form of watches, badges, or cards suspended from lanyards, designed with a keen focus on comfort through their lightweight construction.
Key Benefits of Collision Avoidance System
Factory, warehouse, and shipyard environments abound with intricate passageways, sharp turns, intersections, and zones housing hazardous materials in concentrated quantities. Ensuring security within such operational landscapes is imperative for companies striving to cultivate a serene and gratifying workspace that is characterised by safeguarding personnel and assets.
The Collision avoidance system harnesses the prowess of artificial intelligence technologies to engender optimal safety within these dynamic work settings. Integrating emerging technologies into our operational fabric is an inescapable trajectory for corporate advancement. Adopting the collision avoidance system is a strategic imperative, positioned at the nexus of safety enhancement and cultivating a brand committed to staying abreast of contemporary developments.
The advantages presented by the Collision avoidance system encompass:
Zone-Centric Forklift Speed Regulation: This feature substantially diminishes accident risks within blind spots, narrow passages, and bustling zones by dynamically controlling forklift speeds.
360-Degree Proximity Sensing: Equipment fortified with comprehensive proximity sensing capabilities ensures the well-being of both forklift operators and pedestrians from all vantage points.
Versatile Wearable Equipment: Wearable gadgets and equipment, harmoniously integrated into forklifts, seamlessly operate indoors and outdoors; their resilience to environmental factors such as dust, dirt, and water guarantees uninterrupted performance.
Enabling Real-Time Forklift Tracking: Integrating systems that underpin the collision avoidance setup concurrently lays the groundwork for a real-time forklift tracking mechanism.
Proactive Safety Measures: Anticipating potential hazards, operational constraints can be enforced upon operators and pedestrians. Carrying specialised cards, they receive visual, auditory, and vibrational cues upon breaching these limitations.
How SharpEagle Helps
SharpEagle's Collision Awareness System (CAS) stands as an advanced early-warning solution designed to promptly notify equipment operators and pedestrians of potential collision risks with other vehicles. This innovative system significantly enhances operators' safety awareness, effectively mitigating vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-pedestrian collision risks. These commendable attributes have garnered recognition from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

The CAS uses precision-engineered predictive algorithms to evaluate critical parameters such as vehicle positioning, velocity, and trajectory within the monitored vicinity. This rigorous analysis ensures that alerts are triggered solely in the presence of genuinely perilous conditions, thereby minimising the occurrence of false alarms. The result is a system that fosters operators' unwavering trust by consistently delivering reliable alerts. This, in turn, elevates operators' overall situational awareness and bolsters their confidence in SharpEagle's CAS, thereby contributing to the establishment of an injury-free workplace ethos.
