I have a lentil soup recipe for when I feel I need more prosperity and gratitude in my life:
1 C Lentils (washed and soaked for 15 mins)
Fry in pot with olive oil:
6 C of spinach (washed) 🌿
1 whole onion 🧅
1 tbs minced garlic 🧄
1 bag of baby carrots 🥕
After 15 mins or until carrots are soft ADD
Basil, onion powder, garlic powder and mix.
Then add 4 cups of veggie broth, pour lentils in, cook for 1hr 30mins.
Add more spices if wanted, sharing it for whoever would like to give it a try :)

[ SELF - CARE ] A Daily Ritual to See You Through This Fall & Winter Season
Hi everyone, I hope you all are doing well. Today I wanted to discuss something that’s very important — self-care during the fall & winter. As I’m sure many of you already know, seasonal depression hits so many very hard during this time. I have been there plenty of times and want to talk about some must-dos that I use to help me continue to check in with myself, my mental wellbeing, & my physical wellbeing.

1. Love + Environment
This probably sounds so silly but it’s number one for a reason. If you are not surrounded by love around you (not just people) you need to implement that immediately. The cooler seasons can really be such a drag and shed a really gloomy light on life and our environment. Make sure yours is warm, inviting, and loving. If you’re able - allow yourself the freedom to see your favorite space as a blank canvas for creativity to flow. This space is what I call my love corner. In that corner of my home — I fill it with everything that brings me some joy or reminds me of love in my life. Fill it with memories, pictures, your favorite books, etc. And when the world seems to be a little too much — go to your space and allow love to fill you. It sounds silly, but everything you love - loves you back and waits for your return. 🤍 Spend 20 mins here everyday before you start taking care of everything else. Put yourself first.

2. Nourishment
Eat. This is a non-negotiable. And don’t just eat something meaning anything - eat what fills you in more than one way. Eat for the thing you’re mourning, missing, loving, etc. Eat for the memory of cooking with your grandmother, a friend, a lover. Prepare it slowly and with the intention that it will being you peace and some comfort. This has to be done once a day. Morning or night. Taking the time to show yourself you still deserve nourishment in spite of how you feel is an act of love your future self will appreciate.
*** I’d also heavily advise you to up your vitamin D + K12 as well as vitamin B during this time although I’m not a health professional so always check with your doctor.

3. Move Your Body
30 mins of movement minimum. Doesn’t need to be strenuous and even better if it isn’t. You have nothing to prove - this is all an act of kindness and showing yourself YOU are important & that the outside world can take its hands off of THIS part of your life. This is your freedom. Your release. Cry. Scream. Yell. Rage. Get it out.

4. Pause
Before bed, pause. If you have a journal grab it and take it to your love space & write. All of your thoughts, all of your feelings - even the ones you won’t tell yourself (nobody is going to see it - promise). You have to begin to process your pain, your mood, your emotional body. We’ve made the space in the earlier steps within your physical body - this is when we take care of the emotional need. Write until you’re ready to rest.

5. Warmth & Rest
Bed time! Make sure you’re comfortable and in a comfy position and go to bed. Put down your phone. It will be there in the morning - close your eyes. Breath deeply. And try your best to get 8 hours. This is SO incredibly monumental to mental health I promise. If you cannot rest - go to your love space with a warm blanket and a pillow and allow yourself to be comforted until you fall asleep.

5•25•23 || made dandelion cakes for no reason other than I didn’t want to throw away the dandelions I I picked into the composter. I tried to make dandelion tea but the Brita filter worked a little too well so it was just regular water. 🤦‍♀️ I’m making mixed flowers into a tea and just going to strain it with a colander like a normal person lol.

I feel I’m getting into the swing of these now.
This morning, I wanted to get started on work bright and early and I happily did so just before 8am. Even though the weather has been generally grim recently, the morning sky still blesses me with a golden sunrise during yoga, which always feels like a gift. Today, it was another shorter flow with Allie Van Fossen, which gave me the satisfying stretch I was looking for.
For breakfast, I had some wholemeal avocado toast (don’t let the angle of the picture fool you into thinking there was a single slice there) and a strawberry protein smoothie from the protein works. I thought that the strawberries and cream vegan protein powder was gritty in a smoothie I made a few days ago but today I blended with simply a small banana and some almond milk - I swear that the banana is the key to creaminess.
As planned, I finished my functional analysis work and sent some samples to a teacher to assess my rigour. However, there was one question which escapes me which the teacher considers to be ‘straightforward’.
This morning, my arms were rather achey and fatigued so I decided my daily movement to be a lower body pilates workout… The video I followed was a lot of fun but that was definitely full-body with emphasis on the arms.
I’ve been feeling rather lightheaded and *hungry* so I thought that a hearty lunch was the cure: pan-fried plaice with leftover risotto from last night, babycorn, and asparagus. I also snacked on two vegetarian meatballs while cooking. Lo-and-behold, this made me feel better but the dizziness made reappearances so Mum and I postponed our planned swim until another day. Rather, we walked to get ourselves some matching pyjamas with a photo of Winnie the Pooh… I may have a small obsession with that fuzzy yellow beast but this top is going to look so cute with some ripped blue jeans during the warmer weather.
As necessary, I came home and had a level-3 shower (hot water, face mask, leave-in conditioner) and put on my new pyjamas afterwards. This relaxed me more than anything could have and while under the jets of hot water I realised how okay I was feeling.
When I came out, I had the blessing of receiving a message from my number theory teacher that he had changed our assignment questions to some more approachable things and was then able to finish the entire thing immediately!
For dinner, again my mother blessed me with her cooking and my brother so kindly washed the dishes while I finished the number theory exercises I wanted to accomplish this evening. Perfect. This has rounded itself off delightfully and I shall now go watch Live at the Apollo with my mother. Sleep tight!
