Everett was beyond excited for his first tee ball game, and he insisted on wearing his jersey to school on Friday. He wanted to wear it to bed on Friday night as well, but you made him change into pajamas.
"What time does my game start?" he asked for the millionth time.
"Sweetie, I already told you. Tomorrow morning at 10:30. And that's why you need to get in bed and get a lot of rest."
After six bedtime stories and a cup of water, he was finally dozing off to sleep, and you were about to check your work email.
But when you looked at your phone, you saw a few texts from your sister and a text from Bradley.
Bradley Bradshaw: I can't wait to see you tomorrow. I'm probably allowed to spend a little extra time with the Team Mom. Maybe you'll keep your Kitten claws tucked away and let me buy you something from the snack bar after the game?
"Oh my god," you whispered as you sat on the edge of your bed. You lay back and literally kicked your feet up in the air as you wrote back to him.
I'll keep my kitten claws away if you buy me an Icee and a soft pretzel.
Then you sat up and gasped before running downstairs to the kitchen. Everett's tee ball schedule was hanging on the refrigerator where you and he could both see it. You took it down, sending a magnet flying in the process. You were right; Monday's practice was dress up day. The kids were supposed to come to practice in costumes, and there was a note encouraging the parents to dress up as well.
With a squeak, you found the magnet and hung the calendar again before running back upstairs to your room.
Bradley Bradshaw: Sounds perfect. And maybe you can fill me in more about what else Kittens like to eat and drink. For future reference.
You buried your face in your pillow to keep from screaming too loud. You felt like you were seventeen again and about to get asked to prom by Kyle Jenkins. Except this was even better.
You sent back a cat emoji before you opened your Amazon app and searched for what you needed for Monday.
You found a cat ear headband and a cat tail to make an adult cat costume. Then you dug around in your closet for something to pair them with. You had black jeans, but couldn't find a suitable top. After a few minutes of searching, you added a black bodysuit to the shopping cart along with some washable face paint. Before you could second guess yourself, you charged everything to your credit card with next day shipping, and started to get ready for bed.
You needed to be well rested for Everett's game. And for the snack bar.
----------------------
Bradley took a quick shower while his coffee brewed. The bathroom was right next to the kitchen and living room, and his bedroom was the only other room. His apartment was kind of small, and he kind of hated it.
Last night, he had spent hours thinking about bringing you back here, but it was so boring and bare, it made it look like he had no personality. Then he started thinking about what your place might look like. Then he started thinking about what your bed might look like. Then he was just imagining you in a nondescript bed with him, and he started touching himself.
He wasn't really surprised. You were such a treat to look at, and he was more attracted to you than he had been to the last dozen women he had hooked up with combined. There was just something about you. The combination of wholesome mom vibes were mixing with the way you responded to him when he called you Kitten. It was a lot for his brain to process how sexy he found those two things when put together.
For a brief moment he thought about masturbating again in the shower, but he didn't have enough time to indulge in that like he really wanted to.
He quickly toweled off and finished getting ready. He sipped his coffee and scrolled through his text messages with you, being extra careful not to spill anything on his white baseball pants.
God, you were so flirtatious. That little kitten emoji threw him last night.
He rubbed a hand across his mouth and mustache and grabbed his gear for the game. He'd never make it through the day if he didn't try to stop thinking about you.
He arrived at the field early and started setting things up with Bob, but he kept glancing around, looking for you. And if Bradley thought you looked good when you came to practice directly from work, that was nothing compared to how you looked today.
"Oh, fuck," he groaned as you made your way across the assigned field with Everett in his blue jersey. Your jeans were tight, and you had them paired with a Padres shirt and cap.
When you looked over at him, you smiled and mouthed, "Hi, coach."
Bradley handed the cones he was holding to Bob and headed directly for you.
"Hey, we still need to mark off the outfield!" Bob called after him, but Bradley didn't pause until he was next to you.
"Kitten," he whispered as you took Everett's cleats out of his bag.
You glanced at him over your shoulder, and Bradley made sure you could tell he was checking you out.
"Coach," you whispered back just as Everett launched off the bleachers.
"Coach Bradley! Are we playing against the orange team?" he asked, pointing to the kids in the opposing uniforms.
"We sure are. Those are the Tiny Hawks. Much less intimidating than a Tiny Eagle," Bradley said, adjusting his cap. "You ready to play? We're going to need our top power hitter if we have a chance at winning."
"Yeah!" Everett yelled.
"Start warming up for the game," Bradley said, patting him on the shoulder as he ran toward Bob. Then he turned toward you and smirked. You were chewing on your bottom lip as you looked up at him like you were about to kiss him. "You look cute, Kitten. And on that note, I'm going to go cool down for the game."
Your laughter followed him as he went to meet with the referee. When the game started, he could hear you cheering loudly for Everett, your voice reaching his ears over everyone else's.
-----------------------
The game was honestly pretty exciting for a bunch of first graders hitting a ball off a vertical stick. Everett had two hits and even made it to third base during one inning. And whenever there was downtime in the game, you still got to look at Bradley in those tight, white pants.
The moms behind you started whispering, and you were trying not to laugh.
"I'll bet Coach Bradley could bench press me. His biceps look like fire hydrants."
"Tara, he's got to have a girlfriend. There's no way something that meaty is still on the market."
Then Everett hit the ball so hard, another player on his team scored a run. "Go Everett! Run!" you shouted, jumping out of your seat and cheering.
Bradley turned around and smiled at you as Everett won the game for his team. You waited for the kids to shake hands with each other, and then Everett gave Bradley another high five before running to you.
"Mommy!" he shouted as you caught him in your arms. "I'm a power hitter! Just like Coach Bradley said!"
"You really are! You were amazing!"
Then he wriggled out of your arms and said, "Can I play on the swings with the other kids?"
There was a good view of the swings from the snack bar, and now Bradley was heading your way with his gear bag slung over his shoulder and some dirt on his white pants.
"Yeah, Ev. Just stay on the playground."
Bradley stopped in front of you. "I have a little team business I'd like to discuss with you, Team Mom. Would you join me on a bench near the snack bar?"
You rolled your eyes and tried not to laugh. "Sure, Coach Bradley." So you turned and walked next to him for the first time; Everett was usually tucked in the middle when he walked you both to your car. Bradley was so tall when he was right next to you that you had to tilt your head up to talk to him. The other moms were right. He was definitely something to look at.
"Congrats on your perfect winning record, Coach," you told him, earning a deep laugh that made your lips part as you sucked in a breath.
"Thanks, but I guess I should really be thanking Ev. He won us the game."
You just smiled and glanced at your son as he played. "He's doing so well. I can't believe it."
Bradley just shrugged as he led you up to the window to order some snacks. "He's talented, and he's fast. Does...his dad practice with him?"
You glanced up at him and shook your head. "No. Danny barely sees him at all."
A crease appeared on Bradley's brow and he immediately looked kind of angry. "Why not? He's not local?"
You snorted as you gave him a pitying look. "He lives in Mission Beach. He's just not interested."
"What the fuck?" Bradley asked, earning a glare from the woman who was trying to take your order at the snack bar.
You just nudged his arm as you ordered your soft pretzel and cherry Icee. He ordered himself a soft pretzel and a lemonade and paid before you could get to your wallet.
"I already told you, it's my treat," he said, grabbing both drinks while you grabbed the pretzels. "Now I need you to explain to me how Everett's dad lives in San Diego but never spends time with him. I don't understand."
You just shrugged and sat down on a bench in the shade. "It's just one of the many reasons Danny and I are divorced. He never showed much interest in Ev, even when he was a baby."
Bradley settled in next to you and handed you the Icee. "I mean... babies are kind of scary. But Everett is fucking great."
You just looked at him, his pretty brown eyes flashing with anger and annoyance.
"Yeah, Ev is the best. We're better off without Danny."
Bradley took one of the soft pretzels from you and ate half of it in one bite and chewed it up.
"Does that mean you're single, Kitten?" he asked without hesitation. "Been wanting to know."
You grinned at him as your phone vibrated in your pocket. "You've been wanting to know?" You ignored a text from Frank and set your phone down on the bench between your thigh and Bradley's.
"Come on, Kitten. Just tell me. You're playing with me like I'm a ball of yarn."
Your grin gew as you nibbled on your pretzel and tried to figure out what to tell him. Essentially Frank was nothing. Inconsequential. In fact, he was really irritating you at the moment as another text came through after you'd already told him you were busy this weekend.
"Well," you started. But now Frank was calling you. As you tried to ignore the call, Bradley looked at the screen.
"Who's Frank?" he asked, looking up at your face with a forced neutral expression. "Someone you're dating?"
"No," you replied, scrunching up your nose.
"So you're single?"
"Yes."
"Good. Because you've got some salt on your lip," he whispered, brushing your bottom lip with his thumb. Without giving it a second thought, you licked the salt from the pad of his thumb. Bradley froze with his eyes wide, staring at your mouth. "Jesus, Kitten."
Your face had the decency to grow warm as he leaned in a bit closer and whispered, "Next time I'll kiss it away."
You let out a tiny squeak as your phone started ringing again.
"Damn it, Frank," Bradley growled as he scooped up your phone and answered it. "This is Kitten's phone. How can I help you?"
"Bradley!" you gasped, lunging for the phone as he switched ears. You watched him sip his lemonade as he looked at you, keeping the phone firmly out of your reach.
"Yeah, I hear you, Frank. But she's at a tee ball game right now. Want me to relay a message?"
"Give it back," you scolded him, reaching for it again.
Bradley shook his head, but you just climbed across his lap to get your phone, your chest pressed against his. But now he was holding your phone out in his massive hand with his arm extended, and smiling a few inches from your lips.
"Bradley!" you said with an exasperated laugh. "You're terrible!"
"And you're wonderful," he replied as you anchored one hand around his neck and reached for the phone. You planted your right knee between his thighs and reached, but he finally relented by handing the phone to you.
"Frank?" you asked a bit breathlessly when you had the phone to your ear. You were touching Bradley in the weirdest assortment of places, but neither of his hands were on you. You wished they were.
"Frank, I'll see you on Monday," you said, paying no attention to what he was saying before ending the call.
"Who's Frank?" Bradley asked again, his breath ghosting across your cheek as you eased yourself off of his lap. But his hand came up to your waist to hold you in place and your eyes met his.
"A guy from work. Who doesn't know how to take no for an answer."
"What the hell does that mean?" Bradley's voice was tight.
"Oh, just that I told him I'm busy this weekend, but he's still bugging me." You swallowed hard. You were going to need to completely end things with Frank. Soon. Because as you eased your knee over Bradley's thigh, you had to fight the urge to kiss him. You never craved kisses from Frank. "But maybe he'll leave me alone now that you answered my phone."
You were sitting on your knees on the bench facing Bradley when he turned toward you and asked, "Do I need to worry about Frank?"
Your lips parted in a silent smile, and you laughed. His eyes looked a little hurt as they met yours.
"You don't need to worry about anyone, Coach."
His face eased into a soft smile. "Have you given any more thought to that Phillies game, Kitten? It's my treat if you and Ev want to go."
"That's not necessary," you insisted. But you wanted to go in the worst way.
But if you told Everett that this was even a possibility, he would ask about it nonstop for the next month. Letting Everett spend time with Bradley outside of tee ball was just asking for trouble. Spending time by yourself with Bradley outside of tee ball was probably just as bad.
"I know it's not necessary, but I'd still love to take both of you."
His eyes were so sincere. You had never been interested in a guy who you allowed to be around Everett before. But Bradley was in two categories: Everett's Coach and a guy you really liked. And it would be impossible to separate the two now.
"I want to say yes...."
"Then say yes," he replied. "And you should say yes when I ask you out on a date without Everett. And you should say yes when I ask you if I can practice tee ball with him since his dad sounds like such a tool."
You felt soft inside. "All of that sounds nice, Coach. And I do the best I can with helping him practice, but I don't know that much about baseball."
"I can teach you," Bradley said softly, stroking your knee through your jeans. "Over dinner? What do you like to eat, Kitten?"
"I'm not picky."
"What's your favorite?"
You kind of shrugged. "Cheap burgers and expensive champagne."
Bradley laughed. "I love that, too."
Then Everett came over and squeezed onto the bench in the small gap between your knees and Bradley's thigh. "I'm starving," he whined.
When you checked your phone, you were surprised to find it was a lot later than you thought. "Ready to head home for lunch?"
"Yes," he said, and just when you were about to remind him to thank his coach, Everett threw his arms around Bradley's neck.
"Thanks for making me such a good player."
You watched Bradley return his hug, something you couldn't ever remember Danny doing.
"I didn't do much, kiddo. You're a natural," Bradley told him with a smile.
"I don't know what that means, but it sounds good," Everett said, standing up and collecting his gear bag.
"Thanks for the snack," you whispered as Everett took your hand and started pulling you toward the parking lot.
"Bye, Kitten."
-----------------------------
Bradley watched you walk away, looking like a real treat in those jeans. The bench was suddenly too quiet and lonely without your attention for him to bask in. So he just sipped his lemonade and tried to figure out how to make you feel more comfortable.
Clearly you were hesitant to tell him who the hell Frank was. That was a potential problem. But Bradley had to smile at the memory of Frank sputtering in confusion when he answered your phone.
Frank was going to have to go.
You also needed some reassurance about Everett. Bradley genuinely liked your son, and he could picture himself tossing a ball around the park with him. If he wanted to play real ball in the fall, Everett was going to need to get better at fielding. He seemed to love baseball as much as Bradley did at that age. And honestly baseball was the one thing that really helped him deal with losing his dad.
It was funny how Everett reminded him so much of himself, but Bradley thought perhaps Everett had it worse than he did. Nick Bradshaw was just gone from Bradley's life by the time he was in first grade. Completely wiped away. No chance of ever seeing or talking to his dad again. But Everett's dad lived a scant five miles away from this bench and never spent any time with his kid.
"Fucked up," Bradley mumbled to himself. Especially since you and Everett's dad had been married. Who does that shit to their family, divorced or not? Bradley had to roll his shoulders to help himself calm down.
If it was okay with you, he would take Everett to the park one day. He thought they would both have fun.
As he finished his lemonade, his phone vibrated in his pocket. It was a text from you.
"Okay, Coach. Take us to the Phillies game. We both really want to go with you."
He smiled and opened the internet tab where he had been looking at tickets. He bought three seats in the outfield and took a screenshot of the receipt. Then he texted you the image along with a promise.
"I really want to go with both of you, too."

Would it be possible for a Steven grant x reader where you are stood up for a date the same night steven missed his date with Dylan? Maybe you start talking to each other and it’s like a date? It’s fine if not. Have a nice day!

A/N- hellooo! Thank you for the request. Sorry this took forever. I did unintentionally alter the day in which this takes place. In the show it’s a Sunday and he’s supposed to have met Dylan on the Friday. My brain just held on to Friday and when I finshed if mentioned Friday far too many times to bother to change it so. It’s Friday. Anyways. Enjoy.
Warnings: none.

Friday nights were one of the busiest of the week. All of the 9-5 office job types, that London seemed to be overflowing with, heading out to relax at the end of their work weeks. You'd always thought that kind of job must be boring as all hell, sitting at a computer all day typing away nonsense emails about god knows what. Though on Fridays you did sometimes wish that was your job.
Rushing around like a headless chicken delivering hot plates of food, standing burning your fingertips off as the customers fannied around about who ordered what, complaining their steak was too cold. Or too hot. Or too small. Or ' not how I usually have it! '. Or when you asked who ordered the side of sweet potato fries and being told ' oh they're Adams!' Like you knew who the fuck Adam was.
You'd kill for a cushy office job on Friday nights.
But thankfully the night was nearly over. You could clock off at 10:30, one of your coworkers wanting the overtime of doing the clean down and close up at the end of the night. Usually you'd have taken it, the extra money was always needed, but you were far too tired today.
You just wanted to drag yourself home, maybe snatch some leftovers from the chef and lock yourself in your tiny little flat until your shift tomorrow. But it's barely 9:30. So it would have to wait just a little longer.
The restaurant was beginning to clear out as close drew nearer, your section empty as you cashed out the last table. There was a couple of tables occupied in your coworkers sections and a table outside. But you guessed you were hopefully done for the night now.
You wiped down the table and debated on asking to leave early seeing as your section was empty, before heading over to the entry desk just to double check no one had a late reservation. That was all you needed. Or the Karen's that liked to appear two minutes before close and demand a table for 12 all wanting steaks.
" table 4 still out there? " you listened in on the conversation as you joined two of your coworkers at the entry desk, making yourself look busy by putting away some menus.
" mhm. He's been there hours now. Kinda sad. Defo been stood up poor guy " she said with a frown.
“ well honestly I’m not surprised. He didn’t even have a reservation. What would he have done if we’d have been full? That’s no good on a date is it “
“ but look at his little flowers! He’s a cutie!”
“ a cutie that’s been stood up “
" what's that? " you asked, curiosity getting the better of you instantly. Your coworker, Amy, turned to you with a sympathetic smile on her face.
" guy out there table 4. Think his date stood him up... thought he'd have gotten the picture by now though. Kinda sad to still wait. She's clearly not coming is she " your eyes followed to where she had nodded. By the window there was a man sat alone at his table. A slightly sad looking bouquet of flowers on top of a chocolate box in front of him.
You'd seen your fair share of poor men and women stood up by dates to recognise one. Sometimes it was quite entertaining to listen in on first dates, cringe at the awkward ones and feel a slight longing at the good ones. You hadn't had a date in... well. You didn't even want to think about how long it had been. Though the poor ditched dates were always heartbreaking to see.
" one of us should go talk to him. Kitchens shutting soon. If he wants food-"
" I'm not doing it " the other waiter said before Amy could even finish her sentence.
" we'll I'm not! Poor little guy. I'm no good with the heartbroken ones. Remember when that one woman started sobbing when I told her the guy had called and cancelled the reservation without telling her? God I’m no good at it " they both glanced at you then. You had a reputation for being so unbelievably nice it was inhuman. Of course they wanted you to go talk to him " y/n? What do you say? Go see if he's alright? You're good with the mopey ones " you glanced back out the window at the man before sighing.
" fine. But but then I'm going home. My sections done "
" superstar! " Amy said and squeezed you in a hug " you got this. I'd probably just make him cry or something "
You grabbed a spray and cloth to clean the tables out there seeing as you were heading out there anyway. And headed for the door to the tables out front, hovering on the doorstep outside when you got a better look at him. He actually looked kind of optimistic still. Like the one he was meant to meet would still arrive. Some poor excuse for being hours late. He looked the type to probably forgive them for it too. It made your heart ache.
You liked to think you were good at reading people. The restaurant offered ample people watching opportunities after all. You could spot the snooty customers a mile off, the kind ones, the couples going through a rough patch, the awkward dates, the good ones. All before anyone ever opened their mouth.
And that hopeful puppy dog expression on the man's face was answer enough for you to decide he was too sweet to be being stood up so brutally.
His leg was bouncing under the table, fingers fiddling restlessly. He was a bundle of nerves clearly. Yet still he had waited for his date to turn up. Your skin prickled with upset. It always hurt seeing people stood up. You’d been stood up a fair few times yourself and it never got any better. Humans wanted to be loved, went on dates to attempt finding love. Only to be left alone. It hurt. It would always hurt.
Maybe that’s why he was still there though. In denial. Desperate to have some chance at love that he was clinging on to a tiny chance his date may appear.
You usually just went home and drowned your sorrows in cheap wine and a Chinese takeaway. To each their own.
You made your way over to the man and put on a smile.
" good evening " you greeted softly " are you still expecting one more? " it felt quite cruel to ask even though you knew the answer already. But you had to be sure. And you couldn't make it obvious you'd all just been watching him and talking about him. He wasn't having a great day as it was. No need to make it any bloody worse.
He looked up from where he'd been staring out to the street, looking for his date no doubt, and your heart practically melted. He looked like a kicked puppy. Big brown eyes filled with a mixture of sadness and dwindling hope that he tried to hide with a small smile, probably starting to feel somewhat embarrassed.
" yeah... not looking too good is it? " he said with a small chuckle but there didn't seem to be much humour in it. Pity flooded your chest and you tried to think of something helpful to say to him.
" maybe give them a call? You know what the traffics like in London" it was a pretty shit suggestion when you thought about it. Yes London traffic was notoriously shocking. But not really at night. Brixton was lively at night but it would be no excuse as to why his date was hours late. Still, he smiled at you all the same and gave a nod.
" yeah... yeah traffic " you excused yourself to clear up the table behind him as he picked up his phone and called whoever it was that had left him sat alone. You tried not to listen in as you sprayed the table and wiped it down. But it was impossible. You were too curious.
" what? What do you mean? It's steak. It's steak time " he said in a joyful voice into the phone. You closed your eyes for a moment, your heart aching for him. His optimism. He hadn’t even said hello so clearly the other person hadn’t either. You wondered what their excuse would be. To be honest you were surprised they’d even answered the phone. Most didn’t " thought we said Wednesday? Wednesday. Today " your brow furrowed. Wednesday? It was very clearly Friday. God if it was Wednesday again you'd slam your head on the table " come on. I think Wednesday still comes after Tuesday doesn't it " was he genuinely convinced it was a Wednesday? No wonder he'd missed his date. No wonder they hadn't arrived.
He brought the phone down from his ear slowly, staring at it for a moment.
" scuse me? Excuse me " he turned to you and you put down the cleaning cloth and headed over. He looked distressed, brow furrowed and eyes slightly wild.
" can I help? "
" what day is it today? " he was. He was convinced it was Wednesday. Was he okay? How had he gotten the day so wrong.
" it's... Friday " you said slowly, almost waiting for him to laugh and say the entire thing was a big prank. You were on one of those 'what would you do' hidden camera shows. But no. No camera jumped out to surprise you. His face just fell, wide eyes going glassy as they appeared to fill with tears.
" Friday " he whispered to himself, looking down at the table and away from you. You didn’t quite know what to say as you stood there slightly awkwardly. He was shaking his head in disbelief, muttering quietly to himself.
You spotted Amy inside tapping her wrist as if to indicate the time and you sighed, closing your eyes again hating that he was clearly upset. Yet you still had to do your job.
" the... the kitchens closing in a few minutes... would you like to order anything or.. " He looked up at you with those puppy dog eyes of his, still glassy with tears that he was clearly fighting to keep in. He seemed to take a second to realise what you'd asked him, before slowly nodding
" yeah I will... I will have a steak " you pulled your pad and pen from your apron, clicking the pen. You watched as he sat up more, still not looking at you but that confusion morphing into a solemn look as he looked out towards the street.
" okay that’s fine... And what cut would you like? " you weren't being as formal as you usually would have been. Talking to him like an Injured animal you weren't a hundred percent sure on how to approach.
" the best bit. I'll have. I'll have the best bit. That's the bit that I want " had he ever ordered a steak before? Or was his upset clouding his thoughts? Either way you just wanted to drop your pad and pen and give the poor guy a hug. He looked like he needed it.
" centre cuts filet? " you asked waiting for him to confirm but he simply sniffled and you realised he really was crying now " how would you like it cooked? " you needed to get away from him before you risked it all and pulled him into your arms.
" very good very good yeah " he'd dropped his gaze to his lap again and you had to walk away before you really did hug him. He clearly needed a moment on his own, needed to gather his thoughts that were clearly so very scattered.
You headed back inside and gave his order to the chefs.
" so? What's happened with him? " Amy popped into the kitchen practically bouncing to get some gossip.
" he. He thought it was Wednesday " you said it as if you didn't quite believe it yourself, because honestly? You didn't. Amy frowned and raised her eyebrows.
" think he's not the full ticket? Bit. You know? " she twirled her finger in a circle next to her head, insinuating he was loopy.
" how should I know? I didn't ask his full life story " you actually felt a little bristled that she'd suggest it. The man out there seemed too sweet, too flustered. Not loopy. Just... confused? Maybe? Either way you didn't think he was crazy.
" how do you think it's a Wednesday. It's Friday. It's like, the best day of the week! Wednesday is like. So shit. Why Wednesday " she popped her head out into the restaurant as your other coworker called for her before sighing and heading back out.
It was odd. Of course it was. Of all the excuses and the reasons people had stood up dates. Getting the day wrong by 2 days had never popped up before. He seemed flustered, confused. 1000% convinced that it was in fact Wednesday. Maybe he'd had a bump on the head. Maybe he was just one of those uni students who crammed revision for hours on hours, simply not leaving his home for so long he really did get the days wrong. You guessed there was many explanations. But you weren't going to accept Amy's suggestion of loopy.
You decided to make true on your statement to leave early and headed for the cloakroom to grab your bag and jacket. Ready to go home and binge watch some shitty tv show until you fell asleep, let the poor man sat at table 4 fade into the mass of hundreds of others you'd seen stood up.
" orders up! " you heard the chef call as you headed back through the kitchen again " oh. For you " he handed you a to go box filled with food. You didn't even need to ask. They knew you too well. You smiled and took the box with a thanks, giving the chef a half hug as you balanced your belongings and your food.
Amy appeared back in the kitchen to take the mans steak out but you stopped her.
" I'll take it on my way out it's fine " you said and draped your jacket over the arm that held your bag and balancing your own food too. You didn't like the idea of Amy giving him the food. She wouldnt be as gentle as you had, didn't know how to handle upset people in the slightest " seriously. I've got it. It's okay " you said before she could even attempt to protest, then taking the man's plate in your other hand.
You headed back out to him, in some mild hope he might have cheered up a little bit. You didn't like seeing people upset. Especially people who seemed as sweet as the man sat at table 4.
" centre cut filet, well done " you said softly as you placed it at the table, but even with your gentle approach he startled slightly as you spoke.
" oh. Oh. Right. Thank you " he eyed your jacket and bag, then his eyes flitted to where your coworkers were beginning to clean up inside " should i get this to go? You're closing " he nodded towards where the final customers were leaving, the waiters inside already beginning the close down.
" no you're alright. I sometimes sit out here and eat after my shift, they clean it last. You've got time " you said with a warm smile. He seemed to be thinking of something, his mouth opening slightly like he was going to speak but was still trying to figure out the words. So you waited. Slightly awkwardly but still. He probably needed a talk after the night he'd had.
" do you.. do. Wanna sit with me? " he asked slightly sheepishly, his eyes flickering down to the to go box of your own food in your hand " i mean. You don't have to like if you wanna go home or something- gods sorry that's so weird innit? Sorry- " you couldn't help the smile spreading on your face as he rambled, sitting down opposite him and effectively stopping him in his tracks.
" thanks " you said and opened up the box containing a baked potato and varying other bits the chef had thrown in " would've been cold by the time I was home anyway. Not the same when you microwave stuff is it? " he was looking at you in a mild awe that you had actually sat down with him, but you tried your best to put him at ease.
" i- yeah. Yeah not the same " now you could get a proper look at him you realised he was actually pretty cute. Definitely your type. All fluffy curls and bronzed skin. Dark bags under his eyes but he somehow made them work. Big brown eyes that caught you in your examination of his face. But you simply held his gaze for a second before he looked away. Almost trying to tell him ' yes. I am looking at you. Your date isn't here but that's okay. There's plenty more fish in the sea that'll look at you and see how pretty you are'
Because. Well. He was pretty. Quite possibly the prettiest face you'd come across in London. And those eyes... it was shocking to think he'd still need to be dating. Surely he'd have been snapped up ages ago. You'd come to discover that all the guys that you find even remotely attractive always ended up being taken already.
Or just complete dickheads.
He was hunched in on himself a little. Almost like he was concerned he was taking up too much space, like he wanted to feel and look as small as he could. Like he wanted to fly under everyone's radar, to appear invisible. Unnoticed. A silent nobody.
Maybe that was why he was single. He was shy. Nervous. And couldn't remember his days of the week
You took a bite of your food and watched as he pushed his steak dejectedly with his fork, his nose crinkling slightly.
" not how you like it? You did say very good I just assumed well done... "
" no no. It's just. Well... m' actually vegan " he said with a slightly awkward scratch to his head and you couldn't help the laugh that left you.
" a vegan in a steak house. That's a new one " his shoulders relaxed a little as you laughed, almost as if he was just waiting for you to make fun of him. And relieved when you didn't. Frankly he seemed to relax a little everytime you spoke " Whyd you get a steak then? We have salads, potatoes. Steaks not exactly vegan is it " he shrugged and cut a small chunk of the meat, examining it on his fork for a moment.
" fancied a change? "
“ I don’t think I could ever be vegan. Chicken McNuggets are my go to hangover food “ you said with a grin that made him divert his eyes from the meat and to you. He was smiling too. And it was beautiful.
“ maybe this steak will convert me back “
“ you never know unless you try “ you said, still smiling as you took another bite of your food.
“ right. I should broaden my horizons, yeah? “ he seemed a little hesitant as he put it in his mouth, seemingly thinking extremely hard as he chewed before giving another shrug. He was trying hard not to scrunch his face in disgust as he broke what was probably a long running stint at living vegan.
" well? " you asked, already knowing the answer but humouring him.
" yeah not bad " his terrible lie had you laughing again, shaking your head slightly as you tucked in to your own food. He was unbelievably cute. You felt his eyes on you as you laughed. He seemed to like it. You got the idea he didn't often make people laugh.
" I'm sorry about your date " you said after a minute or so of silence as you both ate, Steven avoiding his steak and picking at the side salad and basket of chips instead " totally their loss. You seem nice " his cheeks flushed at that, not sure whether it was from embarrassment or the compliment. Maybe both. You got the idea he didn't receive many compliments either.
" my fault. Messed up the day. Wednesday. Brain like a sieve " he mumbled and tapped his forehead with the handle of his fork lightly " forget my head if it wasn't screwed on " now he did look embarrassed, the kicked puppy look gracing his face again as he looked down at his plate.
" me too. Should see my phone. Take a picture of my front door everyday to remind myself i actually locked it. Or my hair straighteners to remind myself I unplugged them. Always forget and then panic I’ve burnt my building down " he looked up again at your attempt to console him, those puppy eyes making you want to melt into a puddle in your seat.
" s'alright I guess. Never been very good at like dating and that " he mumbled with a shrug and pushed the steak with his fork, his nose scrunched up in mild disgust " don't even remember asking her out " you raised an eyebrow at that and took another bite of your baked potato.
He forgets the day. And then forgets even asking her out. A mild concern was starting to mount now. How was one man so confused.
" are you sure you were actually meant to be on a date? " it was a bit of joke but he seemed to take it seriously, his eyes widening and he scrambled to unlock his phone.
" yeah yeah look see. See that? Dylan " he shoved the phone towards you with a contact named ' Dylan ' on the screen " never even spoken to her before but I have her number? Bit weird innit? " he'd never spoken to her. Yet he had her number. He'd seemingly missed a date by two whole days. He was an odd one that was for sure. But he was cute. So maybe you could look past it " I messed this one up didn't I? Bloody useless I am "
" her loss " you said warmly and reached across to give his hand a light squeeze. His cheeks flushed slightly again and you wanted to just jump over the table and squeeze him. Show the clearly lonely, affection starved man that there were people who cared.
" got to talk to you though didn't I? Maybe all worked out quite well in the end " it was probably the most confident thing he'd said all night and it made your heart flutter " might be a bit awkward though with Dylan. Work with her so... "
" where do you work? " you asked, part generally interested and part trying to change the topic of Dylan. You were beginning to like his smile, you didn't want the kicked puppy face back again.
" i work at the National Gallery, y'know in Trafalgar Square? " he has perked up in a instant at the mention of work, clearly very much enjoying his job.
" oh cool, you're a tour guide? " he deflated again just as quickly and you wracked your brains for what you possibly could have said wrong.
" er no. Gift shop. I'm a gift shop-ist " he perked up slightly again " I'll be a tour guide one day though. Know more than all the current ones put together " a smile spread across your face for the millionth time that evening as he spoke " applications open up again in a couple months. Gonna apply again I think. I get to talk to people in the shop, give em little titbits of knowledge you know when they buy something? But I'd love to actually be a guide you know? "
He seemed to be bursting to use the knowledge that was so clearly going to waste in a gift shop, even there in his chair he looked like he wanted to explode and tell you something interesting.
" maybe you could give me a tour " you suggested " if you're not too tired after your gift shop-ist duties of course. Only ever been to the gallery once, school trip when I was 12 " he was looking at you like you'd just told him he'd won the lottery. Dylan was a fool for not meeting up with him, though you guessed it was good in a way. If she had met him then maybe you never would have.
" y- yeah! Yeah I'd love that " he was practically bouncing in his seat, all that knowledge ready to explode right at the table. You wouldn't even need a tour at this rate. You'd know the name of every single Greek, Egyptian and Roman to ever live before you even made it home.
" great. Let me... give you my number " you said and rummaged around in your handbag for your phone, plucking it out and unlocking it before showing him your contact information. He scrambled for his own phone and copied the number in " I don't work on Sundays or Tuesdays. So if you're up for a one to one tour those are the best days for me, If they're any good for you as well "
Your phone pinged as a text came through so that you had his number too
Unknown
Helllooo. It’s Steven :) ( with a v )
Your cheeks were starting to ache from how much he had made you smile. In fact it simply made you smile more just seeing that Steven was no longer sporting that puppy face.
Dylan long forgotten. Thankfully.
" Sundays and Tuesdays. Got it. Right. Wicked " he was beaming at you, the nerves he'd had all night still very much there. But maybe a little less so now " I think Sundays best? Donna doesn't work Sundays "
" Donna? " you questioned, finishing the last of your food and leaving it neatly for Amy when she came to clean up outside.
" my boss... think about locking her on one the sarcophaguses at least three times a day " he said with a small chuckle, picking up your empty box and cutlery and stacking them onto his own plate. It was a practical wet dream for a waitress to see, a customer that kept themselves near and made the waitress' job easier " always calls me stevie , always yelling at me cause im a bit late sometimes. Bloody annoying "
" don't like stevie? " Stevie actually sounded quite cute if you were honest.
" not when she says it " the slight avoidance of your eyes and the flush in his cheeks, almost told you he may have hated it from Donna. But he'd quite liked it from you.
" we'll do a Sunday then. No Donna " he smiled and nodded, eyes looking over you and cheeks flushing again.
Had you just planned a date? Was that even allowed? For you to go on dates with customers?
That was an issue for future you thought. Right now you were quite content to have someone who was a customer twice your age- or even more sometimes- eyeing you up. And to have someone who was actually decent on the eye. And nice. A shy little gift shop-ist who got his days mixed up and hated his boss.
" y/n? We really need to clear up out here now " you turned you head as Amy stood by the door. You two had been out there longer than you'd expected and it wasn't fair to keep the others any later.
" yeah sorry. We're off now give us like. 2 minutes? " she nodded and headed back inside to grab her cleaning stuff, as you put your phone away and stood up. Steven followed suit and looked down slightly dejectedly at the flowers that were still on the table.
" you can have these " he said softly and passed them over " to say thank you. For being so nice I mean " it was your turn to blush now, a small heat creeping over your cheeks as you accepted the slightly squashed flowers.
" thank you Steven "
" you live near here? Or you getting the tube or? " he asked, fiddling slightly with his hands.
" tube " you nodded.
" can I. Can I walk you there? Bit late innit? Dodgy people around " your heart fluttered at the never ending kindness pouring out of this man.
" I'd like that "
You walked side by side in a comfortable silence as tiredness seemed to creep up on the both of you. You couldn't help but steal a few glances at him as you walked. He seemed even more handsome out of the artificial restaurant lights. The moonlight falling on him perfectly.
Dylan's loss.
You did for a brief moment think about all the questions you'd be asked at work tomorrow. You'd practically had a date with him and you'd only gone to deliver him his food. You knew Amy and the others would have been having a field day watching you, gossiping and spying on you. But that didn't matter right now. Because you'd met quite possibly the loveliest man in London.
“ do you live close? “ you asked as you the tube station came into sight.
“ yeah not far. Like 10 minutes walk. Gonna take you long to get home? “ he asked, hands in his pockets as he glanced at you.
“ no. Streatham “ he nodded and you looked over at him again. You did have the slightest of concern with yourself at how easily you’d let a stranger walk you from work. He could’ve been a serial killer for all knew. But in your defence. He’d been lovely all evening. He was evening walking on the side of the path closest to the road.
Once you reached the tube station you came to a halt and for the first time that evening it was ever so slightly awkward. Neither of you seemingly knowing what to say to the other.
" thank you " you broke the silence " for walking me here. And the flowers. And well, for a lovely dinner. Beats my original plans of eating alone on my sofa " you smiled and he gave a small shrug.
" thank you for saving my evening " he was fiddling with his hands nervously and you had the urge to reach out and hold them.
" text me okay? Still want my tour "
" of course! Of course. Maybe we could do this...Sunday? " you nodded and there was a small silence again. He seemed slightly tentative in asking. Perhaps questioning if you had been genuine. Or worried that you'd maybe meant next week and Not two days away.
But if you were truly honest you'd see him again tomorrow. You'd only spent a short while in his presence and yet you already liked his company.
" that'd be perfect. I'm not doing anything " he seemed relieved at your answer, goofy grin on his face and his shoulders relaxing. Eyes practically glistening with happiness " well. I'll see you Sunday then? "
" yeah absolutely. I'll text you yeah? " you hesitated for a slight moment then leant forward and placed a soft kiss to his cheek. You knew his cheeks would be on fire before you even looked at him again and not to cause him any embarrassment, you turned and headed into the station. Already looking forward Sunday.

LETTERS FROM AN AMERICAN
November 25, 2023
HEATHER COX RICHARDSON
The second exchange of hostages taken from Israel by Hamas on October 7, for prisoners held by Israel took place today. Hamas released thirteen Israelis and four Thais into the hands of the Red Cross at the Egyptian crossing into Gaza, and Israel dropped off nearly three dozen Palestinian prisoners in the West Bank. In the first exchange, on Friday, Hamas released 24 of about 240 hostages it took during its October 7, 2023, attack on Israel: 13 Israeli women and children, along with 10 Thais and a Filipino who were working in Israel. In exchange, Israel released 24 imprisoned Palestinian women and 15 teenage boys. Israel holds more than 6000 Palestinians on grounds they are a security threat; on the list of 300 prisoners Israel is willing to release, most are awaiting trial. Less than a quarter have been convicted of a crime. The hostage-prisoner exchanges are at the heart of a four-day truce finalized yesterday, on November 24, after five weeks of what a Biden administration official described as “extremely excruciating” negotiations between the leaders of Qatar, Egypt, and Israel, under the strong influence of the United States. According to Ayman Mohyeldin, Anna Schecter, and Corky Siemaszko of NBC News, the U.S. and Qatar began to try to get the hostages released hours after the October 7 attack. But Israel was not willing to talk to Hamas, and Hamas officials maintained it had taken only about 70 Israeli soldiers and 50 women and children, saying they did not know where the rest of the missing captives were, although some, they said, had been kidnapped by individual Palestinian gangs. When talks began, Israel wanted all the hostages released, but this was a nonstarter for Hamas leaders, who need hostages for their own bargaining power. Then Israeli airstrikes so pulverized Gaza that the Biden administration insisted on halts to the bombing so relief agencies could deliver food and aid, as well as the construction of humanitarian corridors to permit Palestinians in northern Gaza to travel to the south. Officials from Qatar, where many of Hamas’s leaders live, stepped in to broker talks. Those talks began to gain headway when Israel gained more control of northern Gaza and began to negotiate through U.S., Qatari, and Egyptian officials for the release of women and children. Finally, yesterday a deal was hammered out that over the course of a four-day truce, Hamas would release at least 50 hostages and Israel would release 150 Palestinian prisoners, all women and children. More aid trucks are supposed to be allowed into Gaza, and Israel is supposed to stop drone surveillance flights over Gaza for six hours a day. Israel has said it is willing to extend the truce an extra day for each additional 10 hostages freed. Still, Israel prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his right-wing supporters refused to agree to the terms of the truce until U.S. President Joe Biden pressured them to do so. “This deal was a Biden deal, not a Netanyahu deal,” a senior official in the Israeli government told the NBC reporters. Biden administration officials have been constantly engaged with the region’s leaders to help hammer out the agreement.
Yesterday, when the deal was finally firm, Biden spoke from Nantucket, where he and his family were celebrating Thanksgiving. “I have consistently pressed for a pause in the fighting for two reasons,” he said: “to accelerate and expand the humanitarian assistance going into Gaza and…to facilitate the release of hostages.” Once again, he emphasized that “this cycle of violence in the Middle East” must end. And, once again, he called for “a two-state solution where Israelis and Palestinians can one day live side by side…with equal measure of freedom and dignity.” He told reporters, “There’s overwhelming interest—and I think most Arab nations know it—in coordinating with one another to change the dynamic in their region for a longer-term peace.” He noted that he was “working very closely with the Saudis and others…to bring peace to the region by having recognition of Israel and Israel’s right to exist” when Hamas attacked on October 7, a move Hamas leaders told reporters was intended to make sure the Palestinian cause did not get forgotten. While two Americans were released on October 20, no more Americans were released in these first two groups under the truce. Holding Americans keeps the U.S. deeply involved in the struggle, and since pressure from the U.S. is key to moderating the behavior of Israel’s right-wing coalition leadership under Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, continuing to hold Americans provides leverage for Hamas. Yesterday the United Nations delivered the largest convoy of aid, fuel, and cooking gas to Gaza that it has been able to since it started sending aid convoys into the war-torn area on October 21. Still, after seven weeks of fighting, far more is needed.

You Didn’t Have a Choice
Tumblr media
Notes: I started working on this one a while ago and was suddenly inspired to finish it. Enjoy!
Word Count: over 3k
Warnings: Whump because it’s what I do, blood, injury, some angst, medical drama, some swearing (also because: me)
Summary: Carlos agrees to help TK with a charity event, but finds himself in the middle of a “mass” shooting. There will be whump and when you think the whump is done, there will be more.
Carlos briefly opened his eyes, squinting as they met the mid-morning Texas sun shining through the cracks in the blinds. He was completely exhausted. A few hours earlier, he had finished his 5th night shift this week. The overtime was mandatory, but he didn’t mind, as long as he had off to help TK with the annual AFD charity event tomorrow. He closed his eyes again and nestled further under the mound of pillows and blankets occupying his bed, allowing his thoughts to drift. He had every intention of getting several more hours of sleep, but he was suddenly struck with panic. Carlos’ eyes shot wide open. “SHIT!” Today’s not Friday. It’s Saturday. With all the extra hours he pulled this week, he completely lost track of what day it was. He grabbed his phone. 10:30. No messages from TK. He breathed a sigh of relief. He had 30 minutes before he was supposed to help set up the event.  TK was relying on him to pick up pamphlets from the printers across town. Carlos threw on a plain white tee and jeans before rushing out the door. He was only a few minutes late and TK either didn’t notice or didn’t mind. Carlos let out an exhausted sigh as he sat the box of pamphlets on the table next to TK. The adrenaline from the morning rush was wearing off and fatigue was hitting him hard. “You okay?” TK asked as he studied the dark circles under Carlos’ eyes. “Yeah. Yeah, I’m fine. Just tired.” He managed to get out before stifling a yawn. “Are you sure? You look like shit.” TK cracked a smile as he reached out to squeeze Carlos’ hands. “Gee, thanks.” Carlos responded with an eye roll.  “I had to pick up another shift last night.” Their shifts hadn’t been matching up much the last couple of weeks so they caught up with each other as their schedules allowed. “Aw, babe, I’m sorry. I never should have asked you to help with—“ TK started. “TK. I told you I would help you with this weeks ago. I want to be here. I promise.” The corner of Carlos’ mouth curled up in that half-smile TK can’t resist. TK leaned in for a quick kiss before getting back to work. Carlos kept himself busy with whatever TK needed help with. The park was beginning to fill with people and even though Carlos wasn’t as mentally sharp as he’d like to be, the interactions were enough to keep his eyes open.  The temperature was peaking, and TK left to grab a couple of drinks from a vendor a few booths down.  Carlos took this opportunity to find a chair and close his eyes for just a few seconds. That’s when he heard the unmistakable sound of gunshots, followed by screaming. His blood ran cold. He couldn’t see TK. Where was TK? His police training kicked in as he took cover and unholstered his off-duty pistol. He frantically scanned the crowds of terrified people as they scattered, not knowing which direction to run. Eventually, his eyes focused on what he was praying he wouldn’t find: a victim. She was lying face down on the ground and Carlos couldn’t tell if she was breathing. He needed to get closer. With a final scan of the field, he was about to run towards the injured woman when he spotted TK, ducked behind a display. Before he could even fully process that TK was alive and well, Carlos watched as TK bolted towards the woman, followed by Tommy rushing in from a different direction. He silently cursed them for having no regard for their own personal safety, but knew deep down, they were doing their jobs, same as him. He ran as quickly as he could towards TK. He reached them within a few seconds, his eyes making contact with TK’s for a moment brief enough to watch the relief wash over TK’s face at knowing he was okay, before scanning the area again for the shooter. “I don’t like this. We’re out in the open. Can she be moved?”. The words rushed out of Carlos’ mouth as Tommy and TK continued to assess the woman. TK and Tommy exchanged glances before Tommy made the call. “Let’s do it. Quick and easy.” TK hooked his arms under the woman’s shoulders while Tommy grabbed her legs. Carlos watched as they made a beeline from the open field to take cover behind a food truck. What Carlos didn’t realize was that the gunman had been watching him. He stayed low to the ground as he moved, eyes searching the park, as more gunshots echoed through the air. He couldn’t tell where they were coming from. There were so many people running and screaming, he didn’t know where to focus his attention. Then he heard a noise that didn’t fit the chaos that had unfolded. It was a voice. Calm and assertive. “Think you’re better than me.”, followed by an unhinged bout of laughter. Just as quickly as he heard the voice, a chill ran through him and he turned his body to face it, gun taking aim. Everything happened within a few seconds, though it felt like time had slowed. Carlos spotted the shooter emerging from the crowd several meters away, his rifle pointed directly at him. Fuck. He started to squeeze the trigger when he heard the other man’s weapon discharge with a loud and violent bang. The large caliber bullet struck Carlos in the right side of his chest with enough to force to knock him off his feet. His pain-filled howl was cut short as his back slammed hard into the ground, knocking the wind out of him. Carlos took a ragged breath, trying to gather his strength. He stretched out his arm, weakly dancing his fingers through the grass trying to find his gun, to no avail. Panic rose in his chest. Carlos knew the gunman would be on him at any moment. Dizziness washed over him as he struggled to take in each breath, straining his neck and arching his back in an attempt to fill his lungs.  He was starting to feel very tired when his attention was drawn to the sound of hurried footsteps approaching him. This is it. He should have paid more attention to his surroundings, been more alert. Maybe if he had, none of this would have happened. He wouldn’t be laying here, with a bullet hole in his chest, waiting for the shooter to come finish the job. He couldn’t move, didn’t have the strength. He closed his eyes, willing himself to accept his fate. “Carlos? ……CARLOS!” That voice…is….familiar. But Carlos couldn’t find the strength to open his eyes. He felt himself slipping further away. “Shit….Tommy!” TK? That’s TK. “Carlos! Baby, open your eyes!” A sudden grinding pain on his sternum pulled him to the surface, compelling his eyes to open as he curled his arms into his chest, a groan escaping his throat. “Carlos! Look at me, baby. I need you to stay awake.” “TK…” Carlos managed only a whisper. Why was it so hard to breathe? Something happened, but he couldn’t quite remember the details. He blinked a few times, trying to clear his blurring vision.  Hands placed an oxygen mask over his face. His mouth felt dry, and he thought he tasted something metallic in the back of his throat. A dull, aching pain in the background was instantly given his full attention as TK applied more pressure to the wound on his chest. The now searing pain seemed to shoot across his chest and down his side.  A groan emerged from Carlos’ throat, and he clenched his jaw as tears slid down the side of his face, disappearing into his hair. “I’m sorry, baby. I know it hurts-just breathe, okay? You’re going to be okay.” TK’s voice cracked at those last words. “RA is two minutes out.” A different voice, but also familiar. Tommy? Carlos’ eyes slowly searched his field of vision until they landed on Tommy. Then he noticed the blue tourniquet on his arm. Tommy was inserting an IV into the crook of his left elbow. He couldn’t feel it, which might have concerned him if he had the strength to care…… “Hey. Hey! Keep your eyes open!” TK urged, tapping his cheek. Carlos opened his glassy eyes ever so slightly. He didn’t realize he closed them. He’s tired. He’s cold. His chest hurts. He can’t breathe. HE CAN’T BREATHE. If breathing was hard before, it felt impossible now.  A wet cough forced its way out of his lungs, splattering the oxygen mask with blood, staining his teeth and lips. As the edges of his vision darkened, he glanced up at TK, selfishly admiring his blue-green eyes. If these were his final moments, he wanted TK to know how much he loves him. “TK…I…-“, he started. Carlos couldn’t get the rest of the words out before his vision became black and he slipped into unconsciousness. —————————————————————————————————————————————— TK kept one hand firmly pressed to the wound on Carlos’ chest and reached to grab the bandage scissors from Tommy’s jump bag. Several ambulances and police units arrived at once. A couple of paramedics that TK didn’t recognize came rushing to his side. “Take over pressure,” TK instructed. As he prepared to cut Carlos’ shirt open, he noticed his hands were trembling. He hesitated at the sight of Carlos’ blood covering his hands and soaking through his white t-shirt, the stark contrast only accentuating the growing patch of red.  He swallowed hard, fighting back the urge to vomit. He forced himself to finish cutting open Carlos’ shirt when— “TK….I…-“ TK looked up at Carlos’ face and gazed into his beautiful, brown eyes. Eyes that, then, unexpectedly, became unfocused and vacant. “Carlos? Carlos?!?” He’s not breathing, TK realized. “He’s not breathing!” TK immediately placed his fingers on Carlos’ neck. “Still has a pulse, but it’s thready.” Tommy had already positioned herself at Carlos’ head. She gently lifted his chin and opened his mouth, using the laryngoscope to visualize the tube advancing down his throat. Another paramedic connected the Ambu bag and began breathing for him. Meanwhile, TK was connecting the LifePak leads to Carlos’ chest. “He’s tachycardic…lost too much blood.  BP is 86/52. He’s in shock. Bolus the fluids. Cap, we need to go now!” They rolled Carlos onto his side long enough to slide the backboard in place. By that time, the other paramedic had come back with the gurney. “On my count,” Tommy started. “One-two-three.” They quickly made their way into the back of the ambulance. It was only when the doors closed and they started moving, that TK felt the gravity of the situation come crashing down on him. He didn’t realize tears were already streaming down his face when a sob ripped from his chest. Tommy put her hand on his knee to comfort him as she methodically squeezed the bag, watching the rise and fall of Carlos’ chest. They sat in distressed silence, eyes flicking between Carlos and the heart monitor. TK was the first to notice the sudden spike in Carlos’ heart rate. He looked down and saw Carlos blinking his eyes open, the confusion painted across his features, turning to fear. —————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————— Carlos was dreaming, he thinks. But he can’t remember what he was dreaming about. It felt like random memories coming together, but not making any sense. All he can focus on now is this incessant beeping. He feels drawn to it, somehow, and as he gets closer to this sound, he becomes more aware of other things. He feels a strange sensation in his chest and there’s something in his mouth- no- his throat. Carlos pries his eyes open. He doesn’t recognize where he is. His legs and chest are strapped down and he can’t move. He becomes painfully more aware of something stuck in his throat. He feels like he’s choking. He wildly brought his hands to his mouth, fumbling desperately to remove whatever he was choking on. He, then, felt someone grab his wrists and hold his hands down. His eyes flickered upward and he realized it was TK. “Carlos! Baby, you gotta calm down. You stopped breathing so we had to intubate you.” Stopped breathing? What the fuck? What happened? Carlos tried to search his memories, but came up empty. He suddenly noticed a funny feeling in his chest and his eyelids felt very heavy, then…..nothing. ———————————————————————————————————————————————————————————— “Carlos? You still with me?” TK prompted. But Carlos gave no indication that he heard him. The Lifepak monitor began to alarm, startling TK. “He’s in V-tach! Lost a pulse. TK- start compressions!” Tommy ordered, as the ambulance stopped at the entrance of the emergency department and the back doors swung open. TK quickly jumped onto the gurney, straddling Carlos, breathlessly counting to himself as he continued chest compressions. A tear escaped down his cheek as he felt one of Carlos’ ribs crack under his hands. He didn’t dare stop or ease up as they rolled through the doors of the ER. “What have you got?” “28 year old male, off duty APD, at the park shooting. Through and through GSW to his right upper chest from a large caliber rifle. BP was 90/56. We had to intubate in the field and he went into v-tach as soon as we arrived.” TK hopped off the gurney so the trauma team could take over. Tommy guided him to an empty hall, just in time for TK’s knees to give out. He reached out his hand and caught himself, crashing into the wall and sliding down to the floor. That is where he stayed, sobbing uncontrollably. He couldn’t hold it back any longer. Tommy kneeled down beside him, rubbing small circles in his back. “Carlos is strong, TK. He’s going to make it.” Tommy affirmed, silent tears now gathering in her eyes. TK didn’t look up at her to notice. He felt himself disconnecting as he stared at the blood starting to dry on his hands. ————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————— Several hours later, TK found himself shifting uncomfortably in a plastic chair. He glanced up at Carlos, who lay motionless in a bed in the intensive care unit, still intubated, still unconscious. The doctor had left a few hours ago, but TK couldn’t help replaying the words in his mind over and over again.         We were able to shock his heart back into sinus rhythm and the surgery went well. He did lose         a lot of blood; he’s stable for now, but still in critical condition. TK reached out and held Carlos’ hand, giving it a squeeze and praying for a response. He got none. He studied the features of his face. His skin was pale, lips dry. There were still spots of dried blood on his neck and ear. TK shuddered as he remembered the feeling of Carlos’ blood slipping between his fingers, the way his eyes went blank and the feeling of breaking his ribs as he tried to pump blood through his body. Carlos was able to be extubated the following morning, the intrusive tube being replaced by a nasal cannula. TK refused to leave Carlos’ side for longer than a few minutes at a time. He eventually drifted off to sleep the following afternoon, resting his head on the bed, but it didn’t last long as he was awoken by the harsh sound of someone gasping for air. __________________________________________________________________________________ Carlos first became aware of a dull pain. It was quiet. He tried to open his eyes, focusing all his energy on this formerly simple task. He first glanced down at his chest, the source of his pain, noticing it was covered in bandages, stickers and wires. He shifted slightly, but abruptly stopped when this caused pain to flare in his ribs. His eyes drifted to the IVs in his arms before falling to TK’s sleeping form by his legs. Oh, shit. He recognized that he was in a hospital, but he had no recollection of how he got here. Regardless, he worried about TK. How long must he have been here to have TK sleeping at his side like this? Feeling slightly more alert, he reached out a hand to run his fingers through his boyfriend’s hair. TK stirred at the touch but didn’t wake. Carlos gently cleared his throat, preparing to speak, but found he couldn’t get the words out. The dull pain in his chest quickly became a sharp, stabbing pain and he found himself feeling short of breath. He removed his hand from TK’s hair and brought it to his chest, trying to rub the pain away. Carlos took a sudden sharp breath in that caused TK to wake and turn his head to him with wide eyes. At the same time, the monitor beside his bed began to alarm. TK looked at Carlos, whose brows were furrowed. His eyes gazing forward but were hazy. Looking at the monitor, TK saw the oxygen saturation dropping. 94……90….87….84…….
“Carlos?! Baby! Tell me what’s going on! Are you having chest pain?”
Carlos snapped his eyes to TK’s and weakly nodded before adding, “…can’t….breathe…” It was barely a whisper. The room was suddenly flooded with nurses and doctors, and when TK turned his head back to Carlos, he saw his eyes start to close as his head fell back against the pillow, his arms laying limply by his sides.
TK was guided to the hallway as Carlos was worked on. He stepped back until his back hit the wall and he slid down, pulling up his knees and resting his head between them. He knew Carlos wasn’t out of the woods yet, but it felt like this nightmare would never end. He balled his shaking hands into fists, gripping the hair on the back of his head. He’s not sure how he stayed in that spot when he felt a hand on his shoulder.
The following day, Carlos opened his eyes again. This time, TK was awake and watching him.
“What happened?” Carlos croaked.
“Which time?” TK challenged playfully, a half-hearted smile hanging from his face. He was met with confused eyes.
“Babe…you scared the hell out of me.” TK dropped his head slightly and sighed before continuing.
“We were at the AFD charity event and there was a shooter. You were shot in the chest and…um…you almost died. I got to you, but then you, uh, stopped breathing and..um…then you arrested on the way to the hospital…..God, Carlos, I thought I was going to lose you..” TK choked back a sob.
“I’m sorry,” Carlos offered and squeezed TK’s hand.
TK laughed lightly through his tears. “Did you just apologize for almost dying?”
“Yeah, sorry,” he breathed, closing his eyes to rest for a moment.
When TK was sure Carlos was still conscious, he continued. “That was a few days ago. But, um, yesterday….your lung collapsed again. So you are the owner of a brand new chest tube.” He tried to smile.
“Was anyone else hurt?”
“Uh, yeah, but they’re okay. It was only 2 others. We actually have you to thank for that.”
Carlos turned his head to look at TK. “What do you mean?”
TK paused a moment, considering how to resume. “Apparently, you were able to fire a round just before you were shot. It hit him center chest. He was pronounced at the scene.”
TK watched as Carlos’ face shifted from confusion to disbelief to remorse, his eyes darting back and forth, remembering. No officer ever wants to have to take a life. Carlos could suddenly feel the grip of his pistol in his hand, the slight kickback after squeezing the trigger, the air rushing out of his lungs when he hit the ground. The panic. The fear. The taste of blood. The pain. It all came back to him at once.
“Who…..who was he?” Although, Carlos didn’t think the answer would make him feel any better.
“He was ex-military. Applied to the APD, but was turned down after failing the psych eval. Turns out, he was dishonorably discharged from the army…..Babe..this could have been so much worse. He was out for blood, targeting officers. One of the other wounded was also an off-duty officer and the other just got caught in the crossfire.”
“How did he- if we weren’t in uniform?” Carlos hoped he understood what he was trying to say.
“They think he was scoping out the station, after they rejected him. He had been planning this for a while.” TK frowned as he thought about how much worse this could have turned out.
“Oh my God..” Carlos couldn’t get a grip on his emotions. He was glad everyone was okay; he was glad there weren’t more people injured and no one was killed, but wait. That’s not true. Someone was killed. He killed someone. Someone is dead because of him.
TK could see him spiraling. He knew exactly what Carlos was thinking and it broke his heart to see him struggle.
“Hey, Carlos…no. Look at me. Don’t do that to yourself. You didn’t have a choice, okay? He was going to kill you and so many more people if you hadn’t stopped him. You did what you had to do, what you were trained to do.”
Carlos nodded his head as tears spilled over and streamed down his cheeks. TK was now leaning over him, embracing him as gently as he could, attempting to offer whatever comfort he could. Carlos had a lot of healing to do, not just physically, and as TK looked down at him, gently pushing his brown curls away from his face, he knew he would never have to do it alone.

Songs referenced: Bark at the Moon by Ozzy Osbourne and Time Warp from Rocky Horror Picture Show.
Shoutout to @realeddiemunsonstandup for helping me come up with this chapter MONTHS AGO. Like I'm talking back before I even had chapter one written. This chapter is my favorite so far to have written and I hope that you all enjoy it. As always, if you like the series and wanna be added to the taglist, please let me know in the comments. Shoutout to my bb @mvnsoneddie86 for reading over every chapter and making sure I don't sound like an illiterate mess
Masterlist:
You woke up and were already in a terrible mood thanks to the fight you had with your mother last night. She was going on about applying yourself in class more, being more accountable at home and needing to take on more hours at work: The Good Ol’ Mom Guilt Triple Threat. On top of it all, today was the anniversary of when Rob cheated on you with that bitch Misty. You just had a sinking feeling you would see them today so you debated playing sick and decided to get out of bed. You got dressed in a pair of black jeans, an oversized sweater and your lace up boots. You went downstairs expecting to see your mom but instead found a note on the counter in her place.
Went in to pick up an extra shift. Try to have a good day sweetheart. I love you
Happy Halloween
Love, Mom
Of course she was hiding after the shit she said last night, you thought. You decided to say fuck it and not go to school. You laid back down on the couch and tried to fall back asleep but after a few hours, you groaned checking the time. 10:47AM. You got up and grabbed your keys and headed out the door, your day completely changed by your shitty mood and spontaneous decision making skills. You got in the car and almost laughed at the song choice. Somebody’s Watching Me blasted through the speakers. You backed out of the driveway and took off towards Family Video. The drive was quick thanks to the lack of traffic. You arrived right at 11 as Steve was unlocking the door. He looked up at the sound of your car and looked at you with a confused smile.
“Hey Y/N aren’t you supposed to be in school?” Steve asked as he looked at you.
“Yeah but I wasn’t feeling it today. Can I rent some movies before everyone comes in and takes everything for granted?” you ask as Steve opens the door for you.
“Yeah of course. Is everything okay?” Steve asked as he took a look at you. You seemed sadder than normal and Steve hated seeing you like this.
“It’s a rough day Steeb. I just need Rocky Horror, candy and sleep,” you say plainly as you head to the shelf where your favorite movie waited. You grabbed Carrie, Alien, Friday the 13th, Day of the Dead and Evil Dead as well as a bag of popcorn and some assorted candies.
“Do you want any company? I can come round when I’m off at 4 if you want to hang out,” Steve offers, knowing exactly why you feel the way you do.
“No it’s okay I’m not gonna be very much fun to be around today and plus it's Halloween. I know you’ve got plans with Ali so don’t worry about me,” you say.
“Y/N you’re one of my best friends so I’m gonna worry about you. I just wish I could do more,” Steve said.
“Thanks Steve. I think I just need a day to myself. We can hang out tomorrow though?” you offer him.
“Sure Y/N” Steve says as he hands you back the tapes.
“I’ll catch you tomorrow okay?” you say, sliding him a 5 dollar bill for the snacks.
“Okay Y/N; I’m holding you to that.” Steve says as he waves you goodbye. You wave back as you leave. You got back in your car and started to drive towards home, mind racing over what had happened last year. You had never been hurt like you had when Rob made you feel like a fool who was at fault. The betrayal you felt when you walked back to that old wooden garage. You wished you hadn’t investigated those noises that night. The hurt you felt from Rob’s harsh words calling you a prude, a bitch, ugly and many, many other untrue things but at that time you believed it. You thought about the rage when you punched him the way your brother told you to: thumbs in, follow through, push up if you’re aiming for the nose in order to sever the nerve. You thought about how you ran to the fire in tears that night and how the one person who made you feel okay that night was Eddie Munson. What would’ve happened if you had stayed with Eddie instead of going with Steve? Would you and Eddie have become friends sooner? Would you be friends now? Either way, you got a better group of friends and your sense of self back. You changed trains of thought thinking how blessed you were with Ali, Robin, Steve and Eddie. Whenever you were with them, you were so much happier and able to be yourself. You didn’t have to hide parts or aspects of yourself
When you arrived at home, you were in a better mood. You grabbed your movies and snacks and headed inside, putting everything on the coffee table. You choose to start off with Evil Dead and got yourself set up with the candy in bowls and your drink on the coffee table while the popcorn popped in the microwave. Norm hopped up on the couch and took his spot at where your feet would be. You grabbed the popcorn and put it in its own bowl before returning to the couch right as the movie started. You got comfortable and watched the film to completion, enjoying the peace and quiet of the house to yourself. You were about to put in Day of the Dead when the phone rang. You were confused as to who would be calling and even debated sending it to your answering machine since you weren’t feeling like dealing with people. The answer machine beeped.
“Hey you’ve reached the L/N’s. Sorry we missed your call. Please leave your name, number and a detailed message and we will get back to you. Have a great day!” the machine said in the recorded message your mother recorded when you first got the device. When the machine beeped again, you heard a very familiar voice belonging to your best friend.
“Y/N? Are you there? Come on, pick up the phone. You didn’t come to school so I got worried Ali and Robin hadn’t seen you since yesterday. Are you alive?!?” you laugh at his over dramatics as you got off the couch and go to the phone, picking it up and ending the voice message.
“I’m fine Eddie. I just don’t wanna deal with people today,” you say into the phone.
“Oh thank God! I thought you were hurt or dying,” Eddie breathes. You laugh at his reaction.
“I’m fine, Eds. I just don’t wanna be at school today because it’s a hard day,” you admit.
“Want me to come over and cheer you up?” Eddie asks.
“Sure Eddie you can come over after school,” you say, “Also how’d you get my number?”
“I pestered Ali into giving it to me with the promise of checking in on you,” Eddie admitted.
“I’m not at all surprised,” you say.
“So what are you doing for the day if you’re not here?” Eddie asked.
“Movie day. I rented a bunch of horror movies and I’ve got snacks,” you say.
“Sounds like a good day to me Y/N. What? Okay fine. Hey Y/N I gotta get to class but I’ll be over as soon as class gets out okay?” Eddie says as you hear a bell ring.
“Okay Eddie sounds like a plan. I’ll see you later,” you say as you hang up the phone. You went to your living room again, switching the tape to Day of the Dead and you go to lay down on the couch, Norm warming your feet as you lay down, covering yourself with a blanket. It didn’t take long for you to get relaxed and fall asleep to the sounds of the horror.
Eddie’s pov
12:45pm
School couldn’t be any more fucking boring without Y/N. I hadn’t realized how much she makes the day go by easier. I’m really worried about her. She never not comes to school. I always see her before lunch at least once but she was nowhere to be found. So here I am at lunch, marching up to the smart kids table to ask her best friends about her. This ought to be a fucking sight considering some of them are already staring at me.
“Hey Ali?” I ask as she turned to look at me with a smile.
“Hey Eddie. What’s going on?” she asked.
‘I haven’t seen Y/N today and I was just wondering if you had seen her in class,” I said with concern. Fuck don’t give away too much.
“No, she wasn’t in class either. Maybe she took a sick day,” Ali says.
“Do you happen to know her number so I can at least call and check on her?” I ask. I knew the second I did ask that, it changed everything and I didn’t care. Y/N was one of the most important people in my life and in high school’s eyes, she’s my girl.
“Yeah. Hang on a sec and I’ll write it down,” Ali said as she fished out her notebook and a pen from her backpack.
“So what’s the plan for Halloween?” Robin asked.
“I was gonna hit a party for work then go see what Y/N was doing. What about you guys?” I ask.
“We’re going to some party over off Cherry Street that we promised we’d show up at but we might stop by if you guys are gonna be there late,” Robin says, “And send her our best obviously.”
“I’ll let her know Robin. What are you going to be this year?” I ask curiously. Robin was nice and fun to be around and I didn’t have anything against her personally.
“I’m gonna be Stef from the Goonies and they’re gonna be Andy and Brand,” Robin said, gesturing to Ali implying Steve would be Brand. “What are you gonna be?”
“Let’s just say it’s gonna be a surprise,” I say, flashing a wicked smile. Ali handed me the note with her number on it.
“Give her my best and I’ll call if we’re about to come over,” Ali says with a smile.
“Thank you ladies. Have a spooky Halloween,” I say as I walked back to my table.
“What was that about?” Gareth asked as I took my seat at the table.
“Nothing, just needed to ask Ali a question,” I say, hoping they wouldn’t push it.
“So what are we doing for D&D tomorrow Eddie?” Mike asked as everyone’s eyes turned to me.
“You’ll have to wait and see Wheeler,” I say with a smirk.
1:15pm
As soon as I got off the phone with Y/N, I knew something was wrong.  She doesn’t just not show up for school, that’s not her. I’m going over there and I’m gonna make that girl smile. I headed to the parking lot and got to my van, thinking about how I was gonna make her day one way or another. Wait, I’ve got it! She literally said she was gonna be watching her favorite movie and dressing up as a character from said movie. I started the van and the sounds of Ozzy started playing as I got the hell outta there and headed towards home to go change. She better smile after this shit…
1:45pm
How the hell do girls do this shit? I’ve literally almost ate shit like four times getting from my bedroom to my van. Don’t even get me started on how long it took me to get down the three stairs I do have. I’ve gotta give women more credit when I see them in this stuff. I’m finally on my way to her house and I couldn’t be more anxious to see her. I try to zone out to the music that’s playing but my nerves are running rampant because I’m so excited and nervous to see her. How will she react when she sees my costume? Will she laugh? Will she smile? Will she be freaked out? Well there’s no going back now. I zone out and start singing along to the song playing.
“Those that the beast is looking for Listen in awe and you'll hear him bark at the moon. Years in torment buried in a nameless grave. Now he has risen miracles would have to save. Those that the beast is looking for Listen in awe and you’ll hear him bark at the moon . Hey yeah, bark at the moon.” I sang as I finally turned down her street and slowed down, checking to see which of her neighbors were home. Luckily, none were since it’s only 2 o’clock.
I parked in her driveway behind her and got out, grabbing my backpack. I walked up to the door, humming to myself and tried to open the door but it was locked. I knocked a few times, hearing Norm bark but no one came to the door. Anxiety settled in from being out in public dressed like this, I walked back to the van and took off the heels, storing them in the backpack. I was not about to break my neck doing this. I took a deep breath and looked at the garden ladder and tested its sturdiness. It didn’t seem to have any problems supporting me as I started to climb up the ladder to the roof. God I hope no one is outside or driving by right now. I made quick work getting up but when I swung my leg over, the sliding snagged my fishnets and ripped a hole in them. I huffed in frustration before moving on, moving quickly to what I thought was her window, the second from the left. I looked in and saw her Steve Nicks poster, confirming it was her room. I jimmied open the window with ease and slid in. She wasn’t in her bed so she had to be here somewhere. Norm came bounding up the stairs in alarm but deflated his aggression when he saw me.
“Hey buddy. Sorry to scare you. We cool?” I ask as I extend my hand. Norm immediately comes in for pets of affection and I close the window with my free hand. I stop after a minute or two due to the sounds of screaming. I book it down the stairs to the source of the screaming only to find Y/N asleep on the couch with her hand still in a bowl of candy and Day of the Dead playing in the background as someone is being torn apart by zombies. Y/N had at least bothered to get dressed today in a pair of black jeans and a big sweater. I laughed a little at the sight before me. I almost felt bad for trying to wake her up but here we go.
“Hey Y/N” I tried. She grumbles and turns to face me, eyes closed as I crouch down to meet her eyes.
“Hey Y/N. Wake up sweetheart,” I say, slightly shaking her. She moans slightly.
“Mmmm Eddie is that you baby?”
Holy fuck. She just mumbled my name in her sleep with the pet name baby. Holy shit. God I wanna kiss her so bad right now and just say fuck his friends thing. Fuck I wanna take her right here, right now but I can’t. I can’t cross that line yet. Soon but not now. Fuck but she’s so pretty and so innocent looking. Fuck.
“Hey Y/N. Wake up,” I say, shaking her one more time, harder than this time. Her eyes open this time, meeting mine in surprise then contentment as she relaxed.
“Hi Eddie.” she says in a small voice.
“Hi Princess. I told you I was gonna check on you,” I say with a smile as I brush hair out of her face.
“Thanks Eddie, you really didn’t have to,” she says.
“Nonsense, I absolutely did have to. You’re my best friend plus I don’t dress up like THIS for just anyone,” I say, standing up in my fullest glory. She starts to look at me from head to toe. God now I’m shivering with anticipation.
YOUR POV
I literally couldn’t believe what I was seeing. Eddie “The Freak” Munson showed up at my house dressed up as Dr. Frank-N-Furter from my favorite movie. IN FULL DRAG REGALIA. PEARLS, GAUNTLETS, FISHNETS, CORSET. He really went all out with it and I’m actually losing my shit right now. Okay I admit it: I have a crush on Eddie Munson.
“You look absolutely amazing Eddie! Oh my god! Is this what you were planning and you kept it a total secret from me!” you say totally shocked.
“Yep! Took me weeks to get the details right but I wanted to make you smile because I know today is a hard day for you,” Eddie says. You feel touched he went through all of this for you.
“Thanks Eddie,” you say.
“Do you wanna talk about it at all? It might help you feel better,” Eddie offered. Part of you wanted to just swallow in on yourself rather than talk about your feelings but it was Eddie asking and he wasn’t one to judge someone.
“I couldn’t deal with seeing Rob and Misty today. I’ve been fighting with my mom over college for like a week and I feel like I’m under so much stress I could just break at a moment’s notice,” you ramble.
“I get it. Is there anything I can do to help you?” Eddie asks as he sits down on the chair closest to me.
“Just stay. I can’t deal with people today but I wanna hang out with you because you make me feel better. I guess in a way you always have,” you realize.
“What do you mean Princess?” Eddie asks, eyebrows quirking up.
“Do you remember last Halloween? How we met?” you ask.
Eddie’s POV
Did I remember it? Fuck it was the night that changed my life. She came up to the bonfire, similar to how she had a few weeks ago, but the first time she was in tears, holding her hand in pain as she kept repeating the word “Bastards” over and over again.
“I remember a little witch emerging to the bonfire from the woods holding her hand in pain and she asked me if I had a cigarette. I gave it to her and lit it for her. She told me she was having a tough night and I listened to her story of heartbreak,” I recall.
“You listened Eddie! I spent the last year before that with a man who didn’t listen. You even helped me stop my knuckles from being broken by resetting that one,” she recalls.
“Oh my god that’s right! Sorry about that by the way,” I say, remembering her scream when I did reset her finger since she forgot to throw with her thumb tucked in.
“Don’t be. I needed it in more ways than one,” she says. I continue to relive that night and I remember how hurt Y/N was and to this day, it infuriates me how someone could do something so cold-blooded to someone who fits the cookie cutter mold. It’s almost like this girl was the girl I’ve spent the last year searching for and she’s this close to being mine.
“Anyways. What are our movie options since we’re not paying attention to this one?” I ask, changing the subject so I could stop thinking about her for a little bit.
“Um, some basics like Alien, Rocky Horror, Carrie and Friday the 13th. I already watched Evil Dead,” she says
“Could we watch Friday the 13th?” I ask as I get up to take out the current tape. She wolf whistled when I had my back turned.
“Nice ass Munson,” she complimented and I thanked Satan for having my back turned to her because I was definitely blushing as I shook my ass a little extra.
“Enjoying the show?” I tease as I replace the tape.
“Oh yes. More please,” she joked. I continued for a minute while the previews started, getting really into my dance before making my way back to the couch.
“Make room” I say as she scoots up and makes room for me behind her. I squeezed in and wrapped my arms around her, pulling her in close. We watched as the opening scene started: a pair of camp counselors sneak off to have sex and get stabbed. She jumped a little of the jump scare so I pulled her closer.
“I got you Y/N. No reason to be scared, pretty girl,” I say as I brush her hair softly from the back. The movie started to explain the backstories but I found myself thinking about her. How I was able to make her happy and make a bad day for her turn into an okay day. I hope she knows she does the same for me. We watched Friday the 13th, Carrie and Alien. I tried not to laugh when Y?N hid her face in my corseted chest during the chest burster scene in Alien but protected her nonetheless.
“Alright. Go put your costume on. If we’re gonna watch Rocky Horror; we’re gonna do it properly.” I say to her, patting her on the thigh to signal her to get up. She laughed a little but complied, going upstairs to go change I assume. I grabbed my backpack and started to grab my lunch pail out when the phone rang. I debated answering it but it wasn’t my house.
“Could you get that?” Y/N yelled down the stairs.
“Sure!” I say back as I got up to run to the kitchen. Fuck!
“L/N residence,” I say as cheerily as I could muster.
“Uhhh..Y/N?” a voice said that I could recognize a little bit.
“She’s busy at the moment. Who could I tell her is calling?” I ask seriously.
“It’s Ali. Who the fuck is this?” she sneers. I laugh in relief.
“It’s Eddie. She’s getting changed right now into her costume. She’s doing okay now but I’m not sure how she’s gonna be feeling later,” I admit.
“Oh thank God, it’s you. I thought it was some stranger. Okay I’m glad she’s doing okay. We’re about to go to Jimmy Gershwin’s party then we might stop by afterwards,” Ali says as Y/N walks down the stairs in a bedazzled gold blazer, matching top and bow tie with striped shorts, black tights, blue socks and black heeled shoes. She looked amazing, it made me super glad I decided to match her costume.
“Well if you end up not being able to make it, meet us at the movies tomorrow at 8?” I say as Y/N got closer.
“You got it” Ali says as she says she’s gotta go and hangs up.
“Who was that?’ Y/N asks.
“Oh it was Ali saying she was going to some party but was checking on you,” I say taking in her costume again.
“Well I feel better now thanks to you,” she says with a smile.
“You look amazing,” I say to her, earning a bigger smile.
“So do you Eddie,” she says. “Want a drink or something?” She offers, going to the bar in the kitchen, heels clicking against the linoleum.
“Sure surprise me?” I ask as she grabs a few bottles. I watched as she started to mix up some of the liquor into a shaker thing.
“How do you know how to do this?” I ask.
“My dad taught my brother and I early on so he didn’t have to make his own drinks,” she admits.
“Where is your dad now?” I ask.
“With Sharon,” she says venomously. “I’m kind of the reason my parents' marriage ended but I couldn’t just sit on the lie and see my mom live a lie,” she said as she walked to the fridge and grabbed an orange.
“I think you did the right thing,” I say to her as I sit at the counter.
“I do too but like I miss having a dad” she admits sadly.
“At least we’ve got awesome uncles who can fill that role” I note as she looks at me with a sadder smile.
“You’ve got a point” she says as she slices two big slices of orange and puts them on the rim of the glasses.
“I’m sorry you’re going through so much,” I say genuinely.
“It’s okay. At least alcohol exists,” she says as she shakes the drink for a few seconds before pouring the drinks perfectly. She puts the shakers in the sink and walked towards me with drinks in both hands.
“You ready for this?” I ask taking the drink from her dominant hand. She nodded and led the way towards the living room, putting her drink down on one of the coasters as she started the last movie. I followed her lead and put my drink down as I settled into my spot on her couch. She returned to my side, leaning forward to get her drink. We watched as the floating lips introduced the film and she sang along to every word. When the Brad and Janet storyline started, I grabbed my drink and took a few big gulps. Damn, it was really good. She really did know how to make a drink. When it came time for the Time Warp, Y/N put her drink down and grabbed my free hand.
“Dance with me?” she asked with her best puppy dog eyes, I couldn’t resist. I got up, putting my drink down and following her instructions. When the time came, I did exactly what she said: I jumped to the left, stepped to the right, put my hands on my hips, put my knees in tight, did my best pelvic thrust and rolled my hips in circles before jumping back and forth with her.
“Perfect! You did great Eddie.” she complimented as she kept dancing. We continued to dance for the rest of the song and smiled at each other when we finished.
“You definitely are Frank-N-Furter tonight Eddie Munson. I really can’t believe you did all this just for me. Just…thank you.” she said emotionally. I immediately pulled her into my arms, hugging her closely.
“I just want you to be happy Y/N” I say honestly.
“I am, Eddie, for the first time in a really long time.” she says into my chest.
“Good. Let’s toast to it in fact.” I say, pulling away enough to grab her drink and hand it to her. She takes it and I grab my own, raising it.
“To my best friend in this world. May she have all the happiness in the world because she deserves it. May she find more happiness in the upcoming months and find herself even more than she already has,” I say, bringing my glass to hers to clink. I notice tears in her eyes but she says nothing as she drinks a big swig of her cocktail. I do the same before setting it down and sitting back down on the couch. Y/N joins me and takes off her heels, pulling her feet under the blanket and laying down into my side. I wrap my arm around her and rub my thumb along her bicep in circles. We stay like that for the rest of the movie, only moving to drink our cocktails which were finished before Frank-N-Furter slept with Brad and Janet. I could feel her putting more support on me, signaling she was tired. I debated carrying her to her bed now but decided to wait until the movie was over. By the time it did end, she was almost asleep again.
“Hey Y/N” I try.
“Hm?” she answers.
“Hey we’re gotta do those dishes before bed otherwise your mom will know that we got into her stuff,” I warn and she slowly raises off the couch, stretching out her body. She got up and went to the kitchen, filling the sink with soapy water.
“I’m gonna go change real quick” I say loudly to her, grabbing my backpack and getting out my spare change of clothes. I went to the bathroom and started to take off the bottom part of my costume, undoing the garter belt and stripping off the black leather underwear and fishnets, swapping for my boxers and pajama bottoms. Much better, I thought to myself as I tried to undo the corset but couldn’t reach around my back. I sighed in frustration before exiting the bathroom and going back to the kitchen. Y/N was almost done with the dishes.
“Hey Y/N? Could you help me out?” I ask. She looks up and sees me motioning to the corset. She nods and comes behind me. Her hands, warm from the dish water, made quick work of getting the thread loosened and within minutes, I was freed from my trap and able to breathe normally again.
“Thank you,” I said, taking it off fully and putting it in my hands.
“No problem. I’m gonna change into my pajamas. Are you gonna stay the night?” she asked, eyes lighting up.
“If that’s what you want” I say.
“It is,” she says as she goes upstairs. I smiled at the thought of her wanting me around as I started to clean up the rest of the living room, putting the tapes back in a stack and putting all my stuff back in the backpack, making sure to hide my costume well. When she returned in her pajamas, she called for Norm and let him outside. I followed her with the joint and lighter in hand. She was seated in one of her patio seats and I took the other one, lighting the joint as I settled in.
“Are we going to school tomorrow?” I ask as I exhale my hit.
“I wanna say no but I already know my mom is gonna be here in the morning so we kind of have to,” she says.
“Well it should be easy. Everyone will either be hungover or worried about the football game,” I say, passing the joint to her. She takes it and hits it, holding the smoke for a bit before exhaling.
“Do you ever think about leaving Hawkins?” she asks before hitting the joint again.
“Like all the time. What’s on your mind?” I ask as I take the joint back from her.
“How everyone is so worried about reputations. What would it be like to be in a town where your reputation didn’t mean shit? Like a –”
“Fresh start?” I offer as I exhale my hit.
“Yeah exactly,” she says, “Maybe college can be my fresh start away from here but my mom wants me to stay close and go to Purdue or University of Indiana or some shit like Leo did. The perfect fucking song,” she spat at the end with an eye roll. “I think I’m good on that actually. You can finish it,” she says as she sits there in silence for a few minutes, clearly trying to work something out for herself. I smoke the rest of the joint and stub it out before tossing it somewhere in the yard.
“Ready to go lay down?” I ask as Norm comes back to the porch. She unhooks him and opens the door for us, Norm leading the way as we went to her room. She laid down in her bed first, taking the right side. I turned off the light and made my way to the bed, crawling in before pulling her close.
“Goodnight Y/N. Sweet dreams” I say as I get comfortable.
“Goodnight Eddie, thank you again for today,” she says in a small voice.I leaned forward and kissed her head.
“Anytime Princess” I say as we both drift off to sleep, my mind racing with thoughts of her.

Cam girl (George Weasley x reader)
Warnings: Smut and swearing
Summary: George logs onto his computer every week at the same time to watch his favourite cam girl because she reminds him of a girl he used to have a crush on at Hogwarts. One day he decides to pay to private message her and she responds.
Tumblr media
George logs onto his computer at 10pm, the same time every Monday, Tuesday and Friday. Today’s Friday, the last day of the week until he has to wait until Monday. For the past month George has been watching a cam girl, she goes by Honey but that’s not her name. The thing that excites George about it all is that she’s anonymous, no one knows what she looks like under the mask.
You setup your computer so the webcam can get everything, you find all the toys you want to use and line them up. You put on your mask and watch the time as it hits 10pm and press stream. The viewers get transferred to your livestream. People assume everyone there is old men but you’ve seen pictures in private messages and some of them are quite good looking. Your job isn’t all sex, for the first 10 minutes you have conversations with the viewers and sometimes people just want to private message you to have some company.
George has never typed anything in the chat before because he’s too nervous too, he doesn’t know what to say. He watches you as you sit on the bed and answer comments from the live chat. He originally clicked on your stream because you reminded him of a girl he used to have a crush on at Hogwarts. She was in Hufflepuff and he had said only a few words to her but he knew so much about her.
You stop answering questions when you check the time and get ready. You ease into it by touching yourself over your lingerie. George tries to stop himself from touching himself so early in the show but the way you moan and mutter dirty things makes his mind go insane. You start to strip first revealing your breasts and you see the chat comments speed up as more new comments roll in and more viewers tune in. You get an average of 5-25k views, it all depends on the day.
You strip until you’re fully naked and lay down spreading your legs out. You use your fingers to spread your pussy open and tease your clit. George starts to palm himself through his pants. You get out a pink dildo, the men prefer 6-8 inches and bright coloured so you tend to use them but you have a large collection. You get closer to the webcam and lick up the dildo putting it in your mouth and making it wet.
You put it inside you once you’re satisfied with how long you’d been deepthroating it. George pulls his pants and boxers down and touches himself right away, wasting no time. He usually cums twice, it doesn’t take too long for him to get hard after once because he watches the whole show.
You liked doing the show because it is a way to let out all your stress and you have a desirable body that thousands of people want to see and you get generous donations during the livestream and to pay to private message you. You stay up for a few hours after your stream to talk to people because the more you talk the more they spend money on you.
Once you’d cum a few times and filled up the time you end the stream by reminding people about private messages, $5 to talk the whole night. George felt an urge to message you but he decided not tonight, he had to go to work the next day and help Fred with the shop. He took a shower and couldn’t stop thinking about you, he got ready for bed and closed his eyes and realised he couldn’t sleep if he didn’t attempt to message you. It was a couple hours after your show had ended and he decided to message you. You probably get hundreds of messages a night.
Ha pays the money to send a message he types in something simple “Hi, I watch your shows every night” he presses send and waits a bit doing other things, the notification pops up on the corner of his screen and he sees you answered. “Thank you, it means a lot, we haven’t spoken before, have we?” it was polite but George was thrilled you actually answered. He immediately types back “No we haven’t but I’ve been watching for a month now, I never got the courage to even send a live chat until now.”
George stayed up for hours talking to you. You signed off for the night to all the other men in your chats just to talk to him. He seemed like one of the guys who was nice and you were both the same age, he’s 25 as well but you don’t give out your age or actual name. You could pass for younger or older. Every night even when shows weren’t on you’d talk, the more detail you knew about him and the more sexual the conversations were the more you liked him. You’d stay up extra late to talk to him and you found yourself realising you’re getting attached and giving him false hope that you’d meet up one day.
“What’s your real name?” He asks “I can’t tell you, it’s apart of the mystery, besides you haven’t told me your name yet” “I understand and I do prefer not knowing, my name is George just so you know.” Your heart skips a beat and you feel as though you’d been transported back to Hogwarts, you had a huge crush on George Weasley, you didn’t know him well but you fancied him and your friends knew, you had common friends but never became friends. You used to be so shy and that is the one thing you wish you got over sooner so you could become friends with George. As far as you know he’s been doing very well for himself at Weasley’s Wizards Wheezes. You always thought about going in there but thinking about how shy you were makes you feel insecure and shy.
“I love that name, I used to know someone with that name, he was a great person, just like you” you reply “I’ll admit I’m so surprised you’ve been talking to me everyday for a week” “I’ve grown to like you, George.”After talking for another week you couldn’t get him off your mind and you knew that you were in too far.
“I don’t want you to keep paying every night, here’s my number. I trust you enough.” George just assumed you talked to everyone the same as him but you seemed to like him. He saves the number in his phone under Honey.
As the weeks went by, you were talking more than just at night. You became friends and you started to hate that George was calling you Honey. “I wish I could talk to you in person” he types “Why don’t we do it then?” “In person?” “Lets meet up, we can hook up at my place if you’re comfortable” you couldn’t believe you were doing this. “Are you sure? Neither of us know much about each other’s physical appearance, you don’t even know what I look like.” “I don’t care, I’ve fallen for you and we should meet up.” You send him an address to meet up a couple blocks from your house just in case he isn’t as sweet on the internet.
You get there early and stand on the busy street, each man that goes by you get hopeful until you see him, George Weasley standing there looking around for someone. In a matter of seconds everything clicks in your head, you’ve been talking to George Weasley, no wonder you were so in love with this guy you’d just met online. You apparate out of there before he sees you. You get into your apartment and send him a text “I’m so sorry George, I just threw up and I’m not in the mood to see anyone, I hope you know I’m not an asshole.” He texts back almost immediately “I get it, don’t feel bad we can reschedule” “Thank you for understanding.”
The next couple days you ignored his messages and he even tried to contact you on live chat but you wouldn’t message back. “I’m sorry if I wasn’t what you expected, I think I got the message” George knew it seemed weird she would text right as they were supposed to meet, she definitely saw him and ran. Your heart breaks and you feel obligated to message “Are you free right now?” You text back “Why?” “Let’s meet up, same spot and I promise I’ll be there to explain everything” “I’ll be there soon.”
You use magic to clean up your house just in case he isn’t grossed out by you and does want to come back to hook up. You apparate and see he is already there waiting, he seems shocked that you apparated “Honey?” He asks trying to get closer to see your face in the dark. You take a deep breath and get closer to him so he can see your face “Y/n?” “Hi George” “Did you know?” “No, I had no idea until I saw you and got scared so I apparated home.” “What do you think?” “I could ask the same” “I asked you first” “I’ve always fancied you, since about fourth year but I didn’t know you so I didn’t say anything.” “We knew each other just weren’t close” “So what do you think?” “I’ve fancied you since fifth year so I’m happy, I’m shocked though, you were so shy.” “I’m a different person to what I used to be” “I can tell” “So what do you want to do?” “Love, this makes this so much better, let’s go to yours.”
You take his hand and apparate him into your apartment. You help take off his coat and lead him to your bedroom. “Wow, this looks so much cooler in person” “It’s probably because you’ve only seen one wall of the room.” He walks around “Do you want to see the toys?” He nods and you open up a few drawers full of them. “Wow, that’s a lot, do you ever use magic?” “Sometimes if I’m tired of doing it myself but never on camera.”
You make the first move and kiss George, his lips are cold but your warm lips pressed to his feels nice. “Can I undress you?” “Of course, just promise me you won’t treat me differently now you know I’m me” “No way, I get to fuck you on the bed I’ve seen for months, I’m not going to treat you any differently than how I told you I would.” You smile and bite your lip trying to hide your excitement as he discards your clothes.
“You’re just as beautiful in real life” he kisses down your neck to your breasts and sucks on one of your nipples and you let out a whimper, he kisses down your body and hovers above your pussy. “Please George” you moan, he licks from your core up to your clit. He fingers you with two fingers first before sucking on your clit and curling his fingers inside you. Your fingers grasp his soft hair and pull on it while the other grips the side of the bed,
“George! I’m going to cum” you yell and he pounds his fingers into you “Fuck” he pulls his fingers out of you and licks them off. He takes off his shirt and unbuttons his pants while you’re recovering from your high. “I’m ready, I need your cock in me, George” you palm him through his pants and slide a hand into his boxers, jerking him off. He pulls them down “Lay down” you do as he says while he strokes himself a few times before lining himself up with your core.
He slides himself in and groans at the feeling “Fuck” he moans and slowly picks up the pace until he gets used to the feeling. “You’re so fucking tight, Y/n” he pounds himself into you, you feel yourself sink into the mattress with every stroke. Your eyes roll to the back of your head and you let out a loud moan. “So fucking hot” You grip onto his bicep and look into his eyes when you are about to cum. Without saying anything he already knows “Come on, you’re so close” he rubs your clit with his other hand and you finish around him. “Holy shit, feels so good, you’re throbbing on my cock” you feel him finish and he lays beside you.
You lay your head on his chest “Thank you” he says “No, thank you, that was great” “I know you don’t do this for everyone so thanks and if you you did like it and want me to come around again I’ll be happy to.” You kiss his lips “George I want to see you again, a lot more often but also do other things like go to dinner or something.” You wait to see what he will say hoping he will agree. “Are you asking me on a date?” “No im asking you to be my boyfriend” “Really?” He sounds surprised “You don’t have to say yes I was just saying I’d like that” “Yes.”
George was fine with you doing your job, your shoes ever night and private messaging other guys because he knew that’s what you had to do to earn money. If he couldn’t be at your apartment one night he’d just watch your livestream.

mr. worst cup
CollegeBarista!Jaemin x Reader
summary: Jaemin messes up your order and in turn messes up any chance at any sort of relationship with you (or so he thinks)
word count: 4.3k
A/N: I really hope you guys like it!
Taglist! @eggbutnotyolk
Mornings, Jaemin hated them. Yes, that was beyond cliche, but it was the truth. Especially right now. At approximately 7 am, Jaemin also hated being awake, Jeno, being cold, people, Jeno again, and work.
Jaemin and Jeno both worked at a cafe near campus where Jeno worked the morning shift, had time for a quick workout, then went to school, all because he enjoyed mornings. On the other hand, Jaemin hated mornings, so he slept in, went to class in the afternoon for a few hours, and then came to work in the evenings. It was a schedule that just worked for the both of them, no downsides- usually.
But Jaemin was not in the comfort of his bed, dreaming, drooling, and snoozing away like he could have been this morning. No, he was working Jeno’s shift because Jaemin was the best friend on the planet and he would do anything for Jeno anytime Jeno wanted- no. Jeno had woken up with a high fever and a sore throat, and it was easier to wake Jaemin, his roommate, to ask for him to cover his shift than to text another coworker. Anything for the health of the general public, gag, Jaemin hated how nice Jeno was sometimes.
So after opening at a bright and early 6:45, helping only one customer in the 45 minutes that he had been open, Jaemin was starting to feel that anger from being up so early. He should have some coffee to give himself energy and help with the anger, but his brain just couldn’t seem to send the signals to his limbs to make him move. His eyes were locked on all the empty tables and chairs of the cafe, tables and chairs that were always filled during his normal evening shift. The emptiness paired with the godforsaken jazz song playing over and over and over again were driving him insane. After a five-minute war between his mind and body, he got to work making a drink for himself. His specialty iced americano with his precious eight shots of espresso. His priceless, liquid gold. He was so concentrated while making his drink that he didn’t even hear the door open to reveal his second customer of the day.
“Oh my god, Jeno! Eight shots?” He heard a voice exclaim. “Oh, you’re not Jeno, I’m so sorry.”
“Just a minute please, I’ll be right with you,” Jaemin replied.
He couldn’t keep you waiting forever, so he set his prepared drink aside and made his way to the customer at the counter. Oh, this cute customer. He quickly turned to the register, asking you for your order with a polite smile.
“Just a medium iced caramel latte with almond milk, double the caramel drizzle, and an extra shot please.” You recited your order.
He nodded, took the money, and began working on your order, but unfortunately, his mind was not on your order. He just wanted a sip of his coffee, for the energy to kick in. His body was craving it, the taste, the energy that would make him feel normal, like a human. He could have gotten a quick sip in if the bell over the door hadn’t distracted him. Another customer, same routine: smile, I’ll be right with you, finish one drink, new drink to make. He distractedly reached for the cup on the counter, calling out your name before turning to the new customer.
You approached the counter hesitantly, this did not look like your drink. The bell over the door sounded again and again as you hesitantly reached for the drink that was supposedly yours. You could just ask him to remake your drink, but the line was getting longer with the morning rush beginning and you had to get to class soon. That and you would feel awful asking him to waste supplies to make a simple drink again.
Okay, you reassured yourself, hopefully, this wouldn’t be too bad. Maybe this barista just makes it differently, much differently, than Jeno does. You grabbed the drink and a straw, calling out a “thank you” as you walked out of the cafe. Stopping beside a trash bin you unwrapped the straw and took a sip of the pitch-black drink. Your face scrunched up in disgust, you could barely fight back the urge to spit out the coffee, no matter how hard your body was screaming at you to get it out.. You could not bring yourself to even look at the poison in hand so you tossed it into the bin, what a sad waste of money and his work.
The next morning you walked in a little later, as your first class of the day had gotten canceled. You joined the line, looking at the menu because you could not and would not order your usual today. Normally you wouldn’t have to look at the menu, Jeno knew how to make your drink perfectly, but Jeno was not there. The take on your drink yesterday had scarred you, perhaps a hot tea today.
“Hello, the caramel latte again today?” The same barista from yesterday asked. Where the hell was this guy getting “again” from?
You smiled almost apologetically with a hint of apprehension, “No thank you, just a mint green tea with honey please.”
He nodded, tapping away on the tablet, taking your money, and getting straight to work. The bell over the door became the background noise as the rush of professionals and early risers came in for their morning caffeine fix. Jaemin looked at the clock quickly, just 10 minutes before another coworker would show up to help him, this rush was too crazy. He quickly stirred the honey into the cup, called your name, and got to the counter to continue taking orders. It was too bad he didn’t get to make more conversation or look at you longer. Not in a weird way, he felt like he had barely had a chance to even get a glance at you today.
You had barely made it on time to class, sliding into your seat just a minute before your professor walked in and began a quick review of your last class. You sat back with a sigh, taking a sip of your warm drink.
Well, this was odd, your tea didn’t taste like tea at all. Maybe it was just the first sip? No, the next sip tasted like nothing but honey. Confused, you took the lid off the cup to take a look, only to be met with the sight of steaming water mixed with honey-no tea in sight.
After class, you sent a quick text to your usual barista and friend, Jeno, to let him know that you had notes for him. Time to carry on with your day, sadly caffeine-free.
Jaemin had had no idea that he had messed your drinks up so badly. When he had given you his americano the rush had just come in so when he went to look for his drink later he had figured that his coworker had just accidentally tossed it. The second day, he could blame the rush again. He had haphazardly tossed a tea bag in the general vicinity of the cup before passing it in your direction. So it came as a surprise to him that for the rest of the week that he covered Jeno’s shift, the cute customer that came in right before the rush, that would be you, had stopped coming in. It was a shame, but he could continue on with his life with little to no regret. Maybe he would see you again or maybe another customer would catch his eye. There was no use in dwelling on something he had no control over or wasting time letting his mind run wild with anxious thoughts of why you hadn’t come back.
That was until he came home one day a week later to find Jeno on a loud call. Jeno smiled and quickly mouthed to Jaemin that he was on the phone with a friend. “Jeno, I’m telling you. That was the worst coffee I have ever tasted. Never in my life have I had a drink that could be used to run a car. I just don’t understand how you could mess up a caramel latte that bad.” He heard.
Caramel latte? The voice sounded familiar but he was hopeful that maybe, just maybe it wasn’t you.
“And the next day, god Jeno, I ordered a tea because I was so nervous to order a coffee and all I got was hot water, then I stopped going until you went back.” It was you, This was the worst-case scenario and it was you, the cute customer that he had developed a tiny, little crush on. He tried to remember how he had made your orders, and he swore he made them the way he asked. But how was he supposed to remember anything correctly when he was up before 10 every day and coming in contact with a hundred people?
“Yeah, I can do Friday morning, see you then.” Had Jaemin missed the rest of the conversation? It seemed so.
“So Mr. Makes the Worst Cup of Coffee, how was your day?” Jeno smirked.
Jaemin scoffed, “We don’t even know if it was me.”
Jeno burst out laughing immediately going to explain that those were the days that he was sick while Jaemin yelled over him stating that perhaps, perhaps, it was another barista you were talking about. But they both knew that no one else that worked in the cafe drank anything nearly as strong as Jaemin’s iced americano. Jaemin sighed having clearly lost the argument, “How do you know them anyway?”
“We’re the same major,” Jeno answered with a simple shrug. Maybe it wasn’t too late for a change in major.
This customer was so close to home and he had somehow ruined one of the things he prided himself on. He was so proud of his barista abilities, it was a passion of his. Customers constantly came back for his drinks specifically, left him tips (for his drinks or looks- he didn’t care), asked when Jaemin would be back on his days off, and he had gotten employee of the month a few times.
After that night, you had not left Jaemin’s mind. It was like all he could think about was you. When he saw Jeno, every day, he wondered if Jeno had seen you. When he woke up every morning he remembered that you were up early, bright-eyed and ready to take on the day. At work, he constantly wondered if maybe you would come in and order something. Walking across campus he wondered if he maybe had a class in the same buildings as you. At this point, it was no longer a little crush on the cute customer that came in twice a couple weeks ago, it was a crush on a friend of a friend, someone that he could actually potentially meet one day.
Maybe he could run into you on campus, leaving the library after studying so hard that he could offer to buy you a cup of coffee. There could be a party soon that the two of you would magically bump into each other at where he could blow you away with his bartending skills. It was such a weird thing for Jaemin to experience, imagining what might be with someone he didn’t know beyond being a customer. He had been in relationships before but never had there been a person that consumed his every thought.
Granted the day after the call, Jaemin did feel a little- or really a lot of anger towards you saying he made the worst cup of coffee that he did actually let his anger fuel his day. He was flipping violently through textbooks, punching away at the keys on his computer, nearly ripping through sheets of paper with the pressure of his pencil. He didn’t like this feeling, he had to remind himself to calm down and take deep breaths. No one had ever made him feel this angry, if it was even anger that he was feeling or maybe just sadness poorly masked as anger. That made much more sense, it really did pay off to have taken that psychology class his first semester.
You had become so involved in every part of Jaemin’s day that he just wondered if in this very moment he was imagining you walking out of Starbucks while he sat at a red light on a sunny Friday morning. Had his mind become so powerful that he could now make things and people appear out of thin air? He hadn’t tried that since he was a kid, but maybe he had just become more powerful. It couldn’t be you though right? He knew there was no way he had super powers, but there was also no way it actually was you, it would be the biggest coincidence. He rolled down the passenger side window, leaning closer to the sidewalk where you were walking towards the parking lot and gasped when he realized that his imagination was in fact, not playing tricks on him, it really was you.
“Are you cheating on us?!” He screeched. Uh oh, he wasn’t supposed to say that out loud. The stupid mermaid was just staring at him mockingly, he couldn’t stop himself from saying it. It was the worst word vomit he had ever experienced.
You stopped and squinted trying to look at who had just yelled at you, lucky for you Jaemin was still in shock from actually yelling that he was frozen still with a hand clasped over his mouth. Yup, that would be the person that yelled. You looked him dead in the eye and took a long sip of the drink in hand. “Tastes better than yours.” You cheekily called back.
Jaemin’s jaw dropped, he was so ready to defend his barista title, his locally-owned cafe, but the car behind him seemed to think the opposite thanks to its incessant honking because the light had been green for more than 10 seconds. Once again, you had plagued his thoughts, not necessarily in a good way though. You had betrayed him-no, you hadn’t but he was dramatic.
He could at least spend some time away from you, it’s not like he saw you out in public very often, ever saw you on campus, or came in during his shift. He was lost in his thoughts as he walked through the door to his apartment. He heard Jeno laugh, then a new voice. Very odd, but he put on a smile and reminded himself to be polite.
“Hi- oh you,” Jaemin said.
“Nice to finally meet you properly, please don’t yell at me again.” You smiled playfully.
Jeno’s eyes widened comically in shock, immediately interrogating Jaemin. Why would Jaemin think it’s okay to yell at someone he doesn't know? Much less one of Jeno’s friends. Jaemin really did try to defend himself, but every time he tried to make a point it just didn’t make sense. He sounded so stupid. “I am so sorry about him.” Jeno apologized, elbowing Jaemin’s rib.
“I’m sorry too, it was inappropriate and rude of me to yell at you.” Jaemin recited. This was not the first time he had had to apologize for yelling at someone in public.
You waved the both of them off, “I was messing around, it’s nice to match a name to a face.”
Jaemin made his way to his room like a scolded child while you and Jeno returned to the screens in front of you, already typing away before the bedroom door even shut. Jaemin made a promise to himself that he would stay in his room until you left. There was no way that he would go out there and risk even more embarrassment in front of you, not just the customer he had a small crush on but the innocent pedestrian he yelled at that very morning. His mind was swirling with regret and thoughts of how badly he had messed up any chance he had with you. He could not go out there and ruin any remaining chance of friendship or even acquaintanceship, or even risk you going to Starbucks every day and never going back to the cafe. Half an hour later he pulled a pillow over his face to muffle his groans, these thoughts were making him crazy, one groan from his throat and a rumble from his stomach. There was no way he could wait until you left now, he had to get food.
Jeno looked up as the door opened, “Right on time, does chicken sound good for dinner?”
Jaemin nodded, ready to turn back and relax on his bed but instead he lingered in his doorway. He ignored the nerves in his stomach and decided that the best decision as a host in his home would be to not leave you alone while Jeno called in the order. Even if he did think you were a little bit of a treacherous snake- from a business standpoint of course.
He cleared his throat, effectively grabbing your attention, “So uh, what are you guys working on?”
“Jeno and I are partners for a project in a communications class so we have to analyze a bunch of sources and then explain why the audience could interpret each source in different ways.” You answered simply with a shrug, as if you had just told him how to make toast.
“Well that’s cool…”
It was now or never. He could talk to you now and clear the air in hopes of perhaps forming a friendship or he could stay quiet and try his best to enjoy the awkward environment. He let out a breathy, nervous laugh, drawing your attention back, “So I think I heard you say I make the, what was it? Oh, the shittiest cup of coffee you’ve ever had.”
Your eyes widened, “No, no, no! I didn’t say that exactly, I did say though, it was the worst coffee I ever had.”
“How badly could I have messed up your order? So badly that you had to go to Starbucks apparently.”
“I had ordered an almond milk caramel latte and received a coffee with not only no milk at all, so it wasn’t even a latte, but also no form of sweetness. On top of that, I had one sip at the beginning of the day that kept me awake and energized until midnight. And! You gave me tea with no tea. Surprisingly though, you are not the worst barista in the cafe.” You responded with a playful roll of your eyes.
Jaemin choked on his spit, “What do you mean? I remember the first day you came in while I was making my coffee… you got my coffee.” He dropped to his knees, “Forgive me, please.”
You threw your head back with a laugh, “Get up, I’ve already forgiven you. Jeno talks about you a lot, so I was actually looking forward to meeting you anyway, even if we did start off on not so great terms.”
“They said about 20 or 30 minutes, you good?” Jeno asked as he reentered the room.
You smiled with a nod, “We’re becoming the best of friends.”
Jaemin blushed, ready to get your attention off of him, “So, you said I don’t carry the title for worst barista.”
“Wait really? Who is it then, best to worst go!” Jeno exclaimed.
“First, is your owner, Johnny, right? Man, he makes a delicious caramel latte, the best I have ever had. Next, I guess would be Ren-”
“Renjun?!” Jeno and Jaemin interrupted.
“Well yeah, he’s super nice and added caramel syrup to the milk I think? Not sure, it was really good, and he added the cutest little drawing on my cup. You guys aren’t last or anything though, Haechan is.” You told them with a shudder.
You all burst out laughing as you recounted the time that Haechan had yelled at you while taking a phone order and ended up sliding a half filled, kids size cup of water across the counter with your name. Another time he was so busy flirting with another customer throughout the whole process of taking and making your order that he had given them your drink too and just given you a pastry instead. Jeno told you guys about a time that Haechan had poured coffee beans on the floor, not once or even twice, but three times in one four hour shift. Jaemin added his own story where Haechan had convinced a handful of customers that they were out of coffee until Johnny came in from the back with a bag of coffee beans.
You all wiped the tears from the corners of your eyes as you tried to catch your breaths from laughing so hard. Jeno sat up when he heard a knock on the door. It was probably the delivery man.
Jaemin looked over at you, a happy smile still on his face. “You know, I would really like it if I could actually make it up to you.”
“Free coffee?” You asked excitedly.
He laughed awkwardly, “Uh no, I uh, um- I think you’re really... cool?”
“This is fucking painful. Jaemin thinks you’re cute and this is his lame attempt at asking you out on a date.” Jeno jumped in, setting the bag of food on the dining table.
You flushed, immediately feeling hot, “I would actually really like that.”
The dinner was clouded with awkwardness, little glances here and there paired with a little conversation. Now that you both knew you at least kind of liked each other, and were interested in one another there was no way he could ruin his chance by saying something embarrassing. All the conversations were basic, surface-level, first day of class icebreaker, boring. What’s your major? What do you want to do with your major? What year are you? How long have you and your best friend since birth lived together?
“Maybe it was better when you hated each other, I can practically feel the tension.” Jeno sighed, reaching his hands forward to “grab” the tension. Maybe Jeno would eat his words when the sparks began flying after the first date, maybe. Yeah, probably.

BONUS
“I’ve had a really good time with you.” Jaemin smiled down at the ground. The blush on his cheeks was hot while your hand in his was warm.
“I’ve had a great time with you too, you really made up for all your little mishaps.” You replied.
Jaemin laughed, “Which reminds me, I have to finally show you that I am in fact the best barista, ever. Would you mind if we stopped by the cafe?”
You shook your head, holding his hand tighter on the walk to the cafe. He held the door open for you and guided you towards an empty seat close to the counter so you could both still talk to one another.
“Welcome! Oh, Jaemin was this your date? I’ve seen you here before right? I’m Johnny, the owner.” Johnny greeted with a smile.
“Nice to meet you too, I love your cafe. Jaemin is making me a replacement drink since he ruined the first couple of drinks. He doesn’t have to, but he practically insisted.”
“And you didn’t call and complain? You must have really liked him.” Johnny laughed.
You couldn’t fight the heat creeping up your neck, so you quickly looked away from the owner standing in front of you to avoid more embarrassment.
“Ah, I’ve never made you this nervous! Here is your iced caramel latte with almond milk.” Jaemin teased as he set the drink in front of you. He looked at you expectantly, awaiting your verdict.
You took a sip, pleasantly surprised with the familiar taste of your favorite drink. “It’s so good! Thank you.”
“Better than Johnny and Renjun?” Jaemin asked.
“Maybe stop the questions while you’re ahead buddy, there’s no way it could be better than mine. Hope to see you soon.” Johnny smirked as you both left.
Jaemin pouted the whole way back to your apartment, you had to reassure him that it was so good that soon he would get sick of seeing your face around the cafe.
He stopped in front of your door, “I don’t think I could ever get sick of your face, so I would really like to take you out again.”
“I would really love that, goodnight Jaemin.” You smiled, pulling him in for a hug before making your way inside.
Jaemin smiled, stepped back from your door and slowly began to make his way home. Walking slowly as his thoughts were filled with date ideas, your face, and just how amazing you truly were. He was so in his head that he didn’t even realize you had come back out to see him again until he felt you tug on his wrist so he could face you.
“Can I kiss you?” You asked breathlessly.
He smiled widely, nodding energetically as he placed a hand on your waist to pull you closer, inviting you to do as you please. Your hands came up to the nape of his neck, nervously playing with his hair before you finally pressed your lips to his own. A short but passionate kiss, it was like your lips were made for one another.
“I’ll see you soon, text me when you get home.” You told him bashfully, holding onto his hand until it eventually fell from the distance between you two. He agreed, locking eyes with you until you were out of his sight and there was no possibility of you ever leaving his mind. Sparks indeed.

Hungry Like The Wolf | soft!dark!Ari Levinson x reader
summary: when you need ari’s help for a secret mission with the CIA, he expects gratitude from you— and he wants a lot more than just a thank you card.
word count: nearly 6.5k
warnings: smut (dub con/coercion/sex as bartering tool), oral sex (f receiving) and vaginal sex, overstimulation, possessiveness/very very slight yandere vibes?, some violence and gun use, mentions of human trafficking/warfare, religious discussions and traditions but not particularly orthodox ones, vague discussions of sexism and misogyny with implied religious background, overall just lots of global politics and all that fun stuff
(a/n: I went ahead and wrote the hebrew and arabic in english lettering because tumblr doesn’t support right to left text so just a heads up.  my arabic is very weak so I apologize if there are any errors.)
Tumblr media
Taking a deep breath, you ran through your pitch in your head again.  Sure, you’d had plenty of time to go over it on the plane, but one last recitation couldn’t hurt, right?  Unable to stall any longer, you turned the knob and entered Ari Levinson’s office.
You’d heard he was good-looking but his appearance still surprised you; his long hair and thick beard made him look like he’d fit in with a rock band better than an intelligence agency, and his half-buttoned shirt put his Star of David necklace and muscled, hairy chest on display.
He must have caught your gaze trailing down because he smirked at you, making your cheeks feel a bit warm.
“Mr. Levinson,” you greeted as you looked up to his face again.
He greeted you as ‘Ms.’ instead of ‘Agent,’ but you let it slide since you were about to ask him for quite the favor.  When he motioned for you to take a seat across from him, you did so with a nod and a quick smoothing of your skirt.
“So, what can I help you with?” he prompted.
This was the easy part; this was the part you’d rehearsed a thousand times.  “There is a group of trafficked women and girls who have been rescued from all over— Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Kuwait— and gathered in Riyadh.  We are working on a plan to move them to Cyprus and, eventually, Greece where they will be accepted into a camp there.  Maybe they’ll end up in the States at some point, if we can swing it, but… Cyprus is step one.”
Ari nodded, listening to your story with more patience than anyone else had so far.
“As you can imagine, it would be a lot easier to move through Jordan and Israel and use your ports, rather than go around through Egypt or Syria…”  He stared at you expectantly as you trailed off, and you cleared your throat before finishing:  "The CIA would greatly appreciate Mossad's cooperation in the movement of these refugees."
"How much would they appreciate it?"
You paused, unsure what he meant.  "Um, quite a lot, I'm sure…"
"I just mean that we have missions the CIA could be a useful assist for, too,” he clarified, interlacing his fingers and resting his hands on his lap.  “You guys have a lot more resources than we do.  If we help you out, is this going to be an allyship we can rely on?"
You swallowed dryly, pondering if there was a way to get out of this before you sighed and slumped down in your chair, leaning a little closer to him.  "Alright, I have to be honest with you: it's not really the CIA that's asking for your help."
"Then who is?"
"Me.  Just me.  I'm the only one who believes in this mission; I'm the only one fighting for these people.  The CIA won't help you because they won't even help me and I work for them."
He slumped his shoulders a little bit.  "Then I'm not sure if I can afford to say yes to you."
"Please," you implored, "I know I can't offer you as much as they can, but I'll do whatever I can to make this work.  Please," you repeated as you laid your hand over his, noticing the way his expression shifted a bit, "help me."
"I've been the one person fighting for a mission before," he remembered, voice a little softer.  "I know how hard it is to go it alone."
You smiled gently at him.
"And, I know how far I would've gone to get my people to safety."
His hand flipped around suddenly and grabbed yours tightly, pulling you closer as you gasped.
"How far will you go?"
You shivered, the darkness in his eyes burning right through you even when you tried to look away.  "Mr. Levinson, I—"
"Call me Ari," he instructed gruffly, grip tightening around your wrist until you yelped softly.
"Ari," you corrected, "I have money—"
"Don't want it."
"I can offer you my assistance in—"
"Don't need it."
"Tell me what you need,” you requested softly.
"I need to know you're gonna show me this 'great appreciation' you promised,” he answered quickly.  “I need to know that if I take care of you, then you'll take care of me."
You gulped but nodded.  "O-of course…"
"Good."
He released you from his grip and stood up, smiling at you like nothing had even happened.
"Pleasure doing business with you, madam."
You stood up and left his office in a haze, unsure if what had just happened was a dream or reality.  But, sure enough, he showed up the next day where you’d told him to meet you, and brought some money and fake passports that you desperately needed.  Frankly, just having a man around was going to make things smoother for you, even if it was a white man who didn’t exactly blend in by any stretch of the imagination.  Seeing him again the next day only reminded you how big he was, tall but moreso heavy with muscle; he looked pretty cramped in his tiny coach seat on the plane to Dubai (your connecting stop where you’d spend the night before flying out to Riyadh).
“Bloody mary, please,” he requested from the stewardess with a gentle nod, turning to you.
“Uh, just water, thanks,” you ordered quickly with a tilted smile.  You had brought a book to read, but Ari insisted on barraging you with personal questions about your job, your personal life, your favorite things— he seemed fascinated by the most mundane things, and disinterested in giving his own backstory.
Of course you considered that it wasn’t a great idea to tell him so much about yourself, let him in your head and under your skin.  But then again, you’d put your trust in him enough for the mission, so you ought to trust him completely, right?
So why did his stare send shivers up your spine?
//
There was room for you and Ari at a CIA safehouse outside Dubai; it wasn’t exactly luxurious or anything, but at least you weren’t going to have to share a room… or a bed.
Normally staying in a safehouse meant sharing common areas with a random assortment of other agents, but it being a Friday night in Dubai meant they were all out enjoying the local nightlife while you two stayed in.  Hoping to review a game plan for the mission with him, you found Ari’s door open, peeking around to see him on his knees on the floor, a candle burning before him, and his hands raised to cover his eyes and face.
“Shema Yisrael,” he sung to himself below his breath, “Adonai Eloheinu, Adonai Ehad…”
He jumped a little when he uncovered and opened his eyes only to find you standing there.  “Shabbat Shalom,” you greeted.
“Shabbat Shalom,” he nodded back.
“I’m sorry you’re forced to take your Shabbat alone,” you apologized, “and that there’s nobody other than me to appreciate your vocal chops.”
His cheeks tinged pink at that.  “It’s all part of the sacrifices we make for our missions, eh?”
“Then I suppose you don’t mind that you’ll be doing plenty of work tomorrow,” you presumed.
“You probably realized by now that I’m not actually so traditional,” he chuckled, extinguishing the candle and standing up.  “I work on the sabbath quite a lot.”
“I hear work is permitted if it is needed to save a life.”
He smiled, but he looked a little sad; maybe not sad, but tired.  “With me, it always is.”
The silence was thick as you tried to reconcile that this was the same man that had grabbed and threatened you— was it a threat?  You couldn’t even tell anymore.  Apparently he wasn’t going to take whatever it was that he wanted until you’d finished the mission, and that should’ve made it easier to procrastinate your worry, but the extra time to ponder what it was actually going to be only brought further anxiety.
Of course, you had an idea of what he was going to ask of you, but the fact that nothing too untoward had happened in his office when you first met him was throwing you off.  In that moment, you were just waiting for him to tell you to get on your knees and show him how bad you wanted these women rescued, but he didn’t.  Wouldn’t have been the first time somebody tried to bribe you into sex; it would’ve been the first time, however, that you actually considered doing it.
Now, the anticipation just made it worse; you were working with him every day and he always acted normal, as if there wasn’t this looming threat of whatever favor he was going to ask from you in return.
Once you actually got to work the next day, it was easier not to think about that.  You barely had any extra brainpower to think about anything except survival and extraction.  Still, each time you looked at him only to find him already looking at you, your hands shook a little.
//
“You’ve been driving for 10 hours, you’re sure you don’t want me to take the wheel?” you offered, watching him blink a few times to clear his vision.
“Not worth getting arrested,” he frowned.
“We’ll only get arrested if we get caught.”
“Not worth the risk of getting caught.  And I don’t know about you, but if I get arrested here, I’ll probably be killed, too.”
You chewed your lip as you appreciated that it was probably worth avoiding as much trouble as possible.  It’s not like the CIA was popular in these parts, either, and for good reason.
“What’s that up ahead?” he asked, leaning further forward against the steering wheel and squinting.
“Um,” you stalled as you unfolded the paper map in your lap, “I’m… not sure.”
“Looks like a barricade,” he announced, and it did; a gate with two guards and barbed wire on either side.
“There isn’t supposed to be a stop here,” you reminded him as you frantically shuffled around the map, making sure you were where you thought you were and that there wasn’t a mark indicating a vehicle stop on the road.
“What do we do?” he asked, looking around as if he was considering veering off the path even though that would be equally dangerous.
“There isn’t supposed to be a stop here,” you repeated, more anxiously.
“Well, there is,” he replied, his own agitation clearly increasing, “so we’ll have to go through it.”
“They’re going to pull us over.”
“Probably,” he admitted.
“And they will search the back of the truck.”
“I’d be surprised if they didn’t.  How well do you think they’re gonna take it when they see eighty-something women packed like sardines?”
You chuckled a little even though you were anything but amused.  “Um, not good.”
As the men at the stop waved to signal your car to slow down, Ari sighed a little.  "I'll ask once again: what do we do?"
"Act natural," you suggested quickly as you lifted the scarf draped around your head to cover your nose and mouth.
Ari slowed down to a stop, lowering the window to talk to the officer outside and putting on a fake English accent.  “How can I help you, sir?”
“Identification please,” he requested sternly.  Ari smiled as he grabbed his and your passports, handing them over through the window.  It was a long, awkward moment as he flipped through the thick papers slowly, his partner leaning down to look through your window but never taking his hands off his gun.  “What brings you out here?” the man finally asked.
“My wife and I operate a restaurant in Jordan, and we get most of our equipment here because the workmanship is better,” Ari explained.  “Just passing through with our new stoves and oven hood.”
The officer glanced back over your truck, his expression mostly unreadable but overall not necessarily friendly-looking.  “Could you step out of the vehicle please?”
“Hal hdha daruri?” you asked quickly; Is this necessary?
“Alsamt,” he replied in a hiss; Silence.
Ari looked around like he was thinking but nodded and reached for the handle to his door.  You did the same, the second guard stepping out of your way so you could swing open the rusted metal and step out.
The men guided for you to circle the car with them, stopping at the back and staring at the metal sliding door that was latched shut.
Turning to address Ari, the guard’s face dropped completely as he got a bit more serious.  “What am I going to find in your vehicle?”
“Kitchen supplies, like I said,” Ari insisted.
As the officer reached for the latch on the back of the truck, Ari shot you a wide-eyed look and you gave him a quick nod.  He lunged at the second guard, wrestling him for his gun while you went after the first, who was much easier to take down with him being distracted by trying to unlock the back of the truck.  Your CIA instincts told you to shoot him once you’d grabbed his weapon, but thankfully you knocked him out with the butt of it instead.
Loud pops of gunfire beside you made you fear the worst, but Ari had managed to push the gun toward the sky before pulling it out of the officer’s grasp, swinging it wildly until it made contact with his head and he fell to the ground.
Gun in hand and panting heavily, Ari looked back at you with a grin.  “That wasn’t so bad.”
“You almost got shot,” you reminded him.
“A little more than almost,” he corrected, showing you a gash where a bullet had grazed arm.
“Shit, Ari!” you yelped, running over to him and inspecting the wound.  The way he looked down at you as you clutched him made you sort of regret it, though.
“It’s fine,” he assured you, but he made no effort to push you away.
“I… should check on the girls,” you decided, a little bit distracted but making your way back to the truck to roll up the metal back and examine the women inside, who looked scared at first but relaxed when they saw you.
“Kli shay' ealaa ma yaram,” you assured them that everything was fine, “nahn taqribaan 'iilaa al'urduni, wasawf nasil 'iilaa alsafinat allaylat.”  We're almost to Jordan and will arrive at the ship tonight.
They relaxed a bit and smiled at you, a few muttered ‘shukraan jazilaan’s (meaning ‘thank you’) echoing from inside.  You hated to shut the back and plunge them into darkness again, but they had assured you before that they would brave any conditions for a chance at freedom.  You hoped they meant it.
“Please, let me drive, you’re injured,” you offered to Ari as he started to make his way toward the driver’s side door.
“It’s not even that bad, and we’ve had enough run-ins with the law today,” he dismissed.
“Then let me patch you up first, okay?  Is that so terrible?”
He smiled a little.  “No, I guess not.”
And that was how you ended up leaning on him in the passenger seat, supergluing his arm shut, trying not to think about how his bicep was probably bigger than your head.
“You’re a pretty good medic,” he observed, speaking quietly since you were so close.
“When you’re as clumsy as I am, you have to be,” you responded, sounding monotone due to focusing mostly on your work.  “It shouldn’t scar too—”
You stopped when you looked up at him, because the way he was staring back down at you made you completely devoid of the ability to speak or even conjure words in your mind.  You’d never seen him so close before and those piercing blue eyes made your head spin.
“What were you gonna say?” he asked softly,
“It… shouldn’t scar too bad,” you finished, “as long as you keep it clean and dry.”
“I generally aim to keep my entire body clean and dry,” Ari chuckled.
“Right, yeah, well— keep up the good work, then,” you stammered as you wrapped some gauze around his arm and rolled his sleeve back down over it.
“Let’s hit the road before we waste any more time,” he suggested, and with a nod you leaned back into your seat.
//
The radio blasting was the only thing keeping both of you awake as you drove through the dark.  The border to Jordan was easy enough, and both of you sighed with relief as you crossed into Israel.  It was by far the biggest blockade you’d seen so far, but of course, Ari got you in faster than you’d moved through anything else.
“Good to be home?” you asked when you saw Ari smiling as he looked around at the streetlights through the windshield.
“You could say that,” he answered.  “Think we have time to stop for falafel before we get to the port?”
“Not unless you plan on buying for all your passengers,” you laughed, motioning toward the back.  “If they have to wait until we reach the ship, so do we.”
“Yeah, that’s fair,” he relented.  “Besides, probably better to be seen by as few people as possible.  Even if we’re in friendly territory, it’s still a covert operation and all.”
“Wow, so you do have some desire to play by the rules,” you gasped in faux shock.  He smiled and shrugged a bit.
“More like the rules and my desires occasionally overlap.”
It was past midnight when you pulled into the port, surrounded by ships so big that you couldn’t see the tops of them from inside the car.  A cargo ship was waiting for you, along with some Navy men who helped you escort the women onto the vessel.
Since it wasn’t meant to accommodate this many people, the refugees occupied extra crew space while you and Ari were given sleeping bags in an unused office; you were so tired, though, that it actually looked enticing.
As soon as you’d set your pack down and shut the door, you heard a distant horn and felt the ship begin to move.  You let out a long sigh as you leaned against the desk, watching Ari take a seat in the chair and start laughing exhaustedly.
“We did it,” you smiled, “we fucking did it.”
“We’ve still got a long boat ride ahead of us,” Ari mitigated, “but yeah… we should be in the clear, and tomorrow afternoon we’ll be in sunny Cyprus.”
You were so elated from the high of a successful mission that you forgot to worry about Ari’s vague request all those weeks ago; it was probably the first time you hadn’t thought about it since then, truthfully.  That changed when his smile fell as he looked up at you, eyes darkening a little and scanning your body.
“You’re a great agent,” he nodded slowly, “and an incredible woman.  You saved a lot of people tonight.”
You shifted nervously under the weight of his stare, but tried to hide your discomfort.  “I… couldn’t have done it without you.”
“I know,” he informed you coldly, standing up and approaching you.  “I think I’ve gone above and beyond on my end of our deal.”
A pit formed in your stomach, growing with each step he took towards you.  His eyes stayed trained on you except for when he glanced to the side to flip on the radio, American music suddenly piping through the speakers.
— discord and rhyme, I’m on the hunt, I’m after you…
You looked to the radio as well but his hand gently guided your jaw until you looked back at him; he was closer than ever, and you had to look up to meet his gaze, shivering as he ran his thumb over your bottom lip slowly.
“Are you good for your end of the deal?” he asked lowly.
And I’m hungry like the wolf…
You swallowed, hoping it would somehow ease the ache in your gut as you realized what was about to happen, before nodding meekly.
He smirked a little.  “Good girl,” he praised, only a bit louder than a whisper, as his hand moved to cradle your face.  “You want me, don’t you?”
Your brow furrowed as you tried to figure out how you were supposed to answer that.  “I want to repay you, for all you’ve done for me.”
“No, not just that,” he disagreed, “you want me.  I know you do.  You don’t need to hide it, we’re alone…”
Hesitant but catching on to his desires, you nodded a little.
“Say it.”
“I want you, Ari,” you whispered.
It felt like forever waiting for him to kiss you as he leaned in slowly, eyes half-lidded and dark but never leaving you.  As his lips brushed against yours, you finally let your eyes flutter shut and reciprocated his kiss.  His hands felt especially big as one slipped behind your neck and the other rested on your waist; in fact, with the way you had to crane your head up to kiss him back, all of him felt big.  Including the part you were pretty sure just bumped against the inside of your thigh.
His kiss was soft and patient but determined, slow but somehow still moving faster than you were ready for.  You gingerly reached up and rested your hands on his shoulders; they were strong and warm beneath your touch, even through his shirt.  You couldn’t think of the last time you’d been kissed like this, or held so tenderly like this, but then again, you were also sure that nobody had scared you like this in a long time, either.  For a woman who always knew what to do in a dangerous situation, you couldn’t seem to get a read on Ari Levinson— mostly because you didn’t truly believe he was dangerous.  But maybe you should.
When his hands reached up to start unbuttoning your blouse, you pushed him back a little.
"N-not here," you protested, "someone could hear, or walk in."
"There's nowhere else to go, and I'm not waiting 'til Cyprus.  I need you now."
He kissed you again before you could respond, more forceful and desperate.  You let him work open your shirt this time, his fingers dancing over your skin as he pulled it off your shoulders and tossed it aside.  The feeling of him working your bra open made the hairs on the back of your neck stand up, but his tongue slipping into your mouth distracted you and before you knew it, it was gone as well.  Your nipples hardened in the cold air— or maybe they’d been that way already, for whatever reason— but they reacted even stronger to his thick fingers gently pinching them as his palms cupped your breasts.
You gasped against his mouth a bit, your breathing getting heavier as he moved his hands down to your trousers.  The idea of being naked when he was still fully-dressed scared you, but you didn’t have time to think about that anymore when he pulled back to drop to his knees, taking your pants and underwear to the floor with him.
He looked back up at you with a mischievous grin as you cautiously stepped out of them.  After guiding you to sit up on the table, neither of you stopping to consider how rude it was to put your bare ass on somebody’s desk in a borrowed ship, he slowly parted your legs.  As he kissed a trail inside your thigh, you felt your hands clutch the edge of the table tightly with anticipation.  You felt so exposed with his face right there, to the point that your cheeks were burning with embarrassment, and yet you couldn't manage to tear your eyes away from his as he leaned in to lick you teasingly with the tip of his tongue.
"Fuck," you shivered, feeling your inner walls quiver as he moved so delicately.  You kept waiting for him to really get into it but he was determined to stay gentle and slow, circling your bud for one glorious moment before stopping again.  "Ari, please," you whispered without even realizing you’d said it.
"What do you want, baby?" he asked darkly, his voice deep and gravelly as he ran his hands up the back of your legs.
Your begging whimper was so pathetic you could hardly believe you were hearing yourself.  "More, please…"
He dove right in after that, suddenly latching onto your clit and letting his tongue explore every fold, every wrinkle, every sensitive spot with thick, wide licks.  Your head fell back and your hands jumped to weave into his hair— that gorgeous fucking hair that had driven you halfway insane.  It was soft between your fingers, and in this light you could see the touches of red, blonde, and maybe even grey scattered into the brunette.  Better yet was the way he moaned against you when you accidentally pulled it, your hands clenching into fists against his scalp each time he sucked on your clit just right.
"Ari, baby, fuck," you groaned, feeling your hips shift a little as if to try to get more of yourself in his mouth.
Sensation was sparking under your skin faster than you knew what to do with it, faster than you had ever figured out on your own, and definitely faster than anybody else had ever managed.  You felt your body shaking and couldn’t suppress it at all, every part of you (inside and out) quivering uncontrollably.  It would’ve been embarrassing except that he seemed to be enjoying it quite a bit, egging you on with his tight grip on your thighs, and his deep moans that reverberated over your body, and the way his brow furrowed like it almost pained him to see you like this.  Your back arched so dramatically that he had to hold onto your hips tight to keep you in his mouth, but he managed to maintain what he'd been doing— in fact, he didn't stop even when you started to whine and cry, feet digging into his back as you tried not to explode from the overstimulation on your sensitive clit.
"S-stop, s'too much, can't take it," you pleaded, looking down at him.
He looked back up at you with dark, dilated eyes that said 'you're gonna take it.'  His tongue lapped at you with renewed vigor, sending you tumbling over the edge again and again and again.
Tears were streaming down your face when he finally relented, standing up slowly and staring you down as he wiped his face with the back of his hand; your arousal had coated his mouth and most of his beard, too.  You bit down on your lip to stop it from shaking as he slotted himself between your legs again, slowly unbuttoning his shirt and smiling as he watched your gaze trail down every inch of newly-exposed skin.
You knew he was in good shape, because it was always obvious, but you still shivered a little when you were greeted with chiseled muscles, dusty-blonde hair, a few stray freckles and scars, and last but not least, the gauze wrapping on his arm where you’d patched him up before.  It was nice to see a piece of your handiwork on something so flawless, like how it must feel to design the frame that holds a Monet.  Your mouth was even watering as you followed the trail of hair down to where it was interrupted by his jeans, which were misshapen with the unmistakable outline of his neglected cock.  Either you could actually hear it throbbing, or that was just your heartbeat in your ears as he made a show of undoing his buckle and fly slowly.
A breath caught in your throat as he slid the jeans down and kicked them off with his boots, his cock bouncing up against the bottom of his abs once he’d freed it.  You hoped to hide your intimidation, but you must have failed from the way he smirked and licked his lips as he stepped forward and pressed it against your stomach; you felt a little dizzy seeing the head of it reach past your bellybutton.  "That's how deep I'm gonna be in you, baby."
For all his delicacy and tenderness in everything before now, he must have had a change of heart; with a little growl, he pushed all the way into you with one brutal thrust, watching darkly as your head fell back in a choked scream.  He didn’t stop for very long, either, setting up a pace that was slow but unyielding, his length filling every part of you and then some with each slam of his hips into yours.
He grabbed your hair tightly and suddenly, pulling your head back to expose your neck to him.  He licked and sucked along your pulse until you were shaking against him, nails accidentally digging into his shoulders a little bit as you held onto him.
His lips trailed up to pull you into a frenzied, sloppy kiss, your mouth slack wide for him to explore however he wanted.
"Tell me how it feels," he growled against your lips.
It feels like my body is on fire but I like it.  It feels like you're shaping my insides to fit you exactly how you want.  It feels like you might split me in half before you're done with me, but if you stop now I'll fall apart even worse.
His grip on your hair tightened at your lack of response.  "Gettin' fucked too good to answer me, huh?  So full of my cock you can't even speak.  Is that right, pretty baby?"
You nodded as you buried your face in the crook of his neck, your hoarse moans and sobs muffled by his skin.
"Aw, poor thing," he purred, wrapping his arms around your back.  His lips brushed against your ear as he spoke to you in a deep mumble, the bass of his voice sending shivers down your spine with each word.  "You don't have to tell me, I know how it feels… you're so wet that you're fucking dripping, your needy little pussy is clamping down on me like it's the end of the fucking world, and you're screaming for me so loud I bet half the ship can hear you.  I know how it feels, baby; it feels so good that you're already about to come for me."
You gasped as he pushed you to lay back on the table, hoisting your legs up over his shoulders; you felt a bit whorish seeing your legs up in the air like that, especially when he leaned to the side to plant a wet kiss on your calf.
Soon he was letting your legs slip back down to his hips, leaning over you and caging you in with his thick arms, watching your face as he started to fuck you harder.  His long hair was at risk of tickling you as it fell down beside your face, but it was that Star of David necklace that was dangling from his neck and swinging right in your face with every thrust.  Slightly annoyed by it hitting your face from time to time, you stuck out your tongue to catch it, holding it between your teeth and finding that biting down on it helped you cope with the slight pain of him so deep inside you anyways.
"Baby," he moaned, inspired by the sight to grab your hips even tighter and slam into you even harder.  "Fuck, I'm close," he hissed.  "Gonna fill you up so good, baby, gonna ruin you for anybody else, huh?"
"Yes, Ari," you whimpered.  "I'm close, too…"
"Go ahead, pretty girl, wanna feel how tight you get when you come— when I make you come."
Trying to hold it back only made it hit you harder, and as your moans grew louder and your body began to shake, you felt your walls flutter and flex intensely.  He pulled his necklace out of your mouth and kissed you suddenly; it kept you grounded as you feared that the rest of you would float away, lost in pleasure so thoroughly that you'd never come back to reality.  His moans mixed with yours as they moved between your tongues, and just when you thought you'd break into pieces if he didn't slow down, you felt his movements stutter and his cock pump inside you.  You couldn't feel the warmth of it because you were already so hot all over, but the way his cock swelled as he came was unmistakable and overwhelmingly erotic.
He broke the kiss but didn't pull away, catching his breath while he stayed inside you, resting his forehead against yours.
After cooling off for a moment, he scooped your limp body into his arms and lifted you into his chest; you wrapped around him and let him carry you to the other side of the room where he set you down on the pallet sleeping bags and blankets.  You whimpered as he pulled out, his softening cock still big enough to make you wince.  The gush of warm, sticky come made your cheeks burn even if it also sent a dulled tingle of arousal up your spine.  He was gentlemanly enough to wipe you off with a towel, mumbling something about how pretty you looked stuffed with his come, but you couldn't really focus on any of that because you were still waiting for sensation to return to your numbed extremities— brain included.
He turned his head and laid it on your chest, and you found yourself absent-mindedly scratching his scalp with your nails.
"That's nice," he whispered, but you could tell that already by the way his skin was erupting into goosebumps, and the way he held you tighter.
You must've laid like that for hours, or maybe it was just a few minutes, but it was one of those moments that felt like a piece of forever.  He lifted his head to look up at you, pulling you down a bit so his face hovered over yours.
"What's next for you after you get these women to Greece?" he asked quietly.
You chewed your lip as you thought about that.  "Back to DC, I figure, and then wherever they send me next.  I hear they might want me undercover in Cuba or Russia…"
"How often do you end up in Jerusalem?"
You squirmed a little beneath him, but he slipped his arm under your neck and pulled you closer; how were you supposed to think with his bicep right by your face like that?  "Uh, not often, but if I'm in town I'll give you a call—"
"Come with me," he requested softly.  "Get to Cyprus, go to Greece, and then meet me in Tel Aviv."
"Ari, I can't—"
"Why not?"
You laughed a little, but he clearly wasn’t joking.  "Because I have a job?"
"You won't need a job," he shrugged, "I make good money and you can just live with me."
Your throat went dry as you stammered, trying to figure out if he had seriously just asked you to quit your job and move in with him.
"You'll like Israel.  You speak some Hebrew don't you?"
"Uhh, yeah but—"
"Then what's stopping you?"
You couldn't answer because you didn't even know where to start with all the things that were stopping you.  Your mouth opened and closed silently like a fish out of water, and he laughed at you lightly.
"Just say yes," he encouraged gently, and your heart twisted as you wondered if this was part of the deal, if you needed to do everything he wanted to keep him on your side.  You were on an Israeli ship, sailing international waters; if he changed his mind now, he could still sell you out and have these people arrested or worse.  But he wouldn't do that, right?
Perhaps the more important question was not 'would he do that?' but rather 'are you willing to find out?'
"Yes," you heard yourself answer before you even realized you were considering it.
He grinned, hugging you tightly.  He was already rambling about how great it was going to be and how he would spoil you all the time and maybe find a way to get you hired as a contractor at Mossad so he could bring you along on missions, but you couldn't hear it past the ringing in your ears. You desperately needed sleep, and his arms were warm and welcoming as you drifted off.  He kissed your forehead before letting his eyes fall shut as well, joining you in unconsciousness.
The swaying of the ship was like being rocked to sleep, so much so that you slept for an uncharacteristically long time: you were just a few hours out from your destination when you awoke, in fact.
Instead of getting up and attempting to acquire some food, you laid there staring up at the ceiling as his heavy arm draped over your chest.   Even in his sleep he had power over you, refused to let you go.  You tried to remember how you'd ended up in this situation but instead you found yourself fantasizing about a chance at love.  After running around the world for so long, there weren't many good men left to settle down with.  And Ari was maybe not an entirely good man, but you believed him when he said he would treat you well.  You'd shacked up with a lot worse in your time, when you were young and reckless and thought the worst thing you could be was alone.  Still, a long-suppressed desire for companionship was awakening in your mind and you weren't going to swallow it back down this time.  Smiling, you lifted his hand to your lips and kissed his knuckles.  If what he wanted in exchange for his cooperation was your affection, you could do that.

The Burger Chef Murders
Tumblr media
July 26, 2021
On November 17, 1978 between 11pm and 12am, four Burger Chef employees in Speedway, Indiana disappeared. Jayne Friedt who was 20 and the assistant manager, Daniel Davis, 16, Mark Flemmonds, 16, and Ruth Ellen Shelton, 18 were all found on Sunday, November 19, 1978.
The night of November 17, another Burger Chef employee had come by the restaurant around 12am to visit the four employees but found the place empty, the money safe opened and the back door was left ajar. When police arrived, they found two empty currency bags and an empty roll of adhesive tape next to the open safe.
At first the police did not take the case very seriously because they found no signs of a struggle and only $581 had been reported as missing. This is approximately $2,300 in today’s time and police believed that the employees had taken the money to go out partying. There was more than 100 dollars in coins left in the registers.
Jayne and Ruth Ellen’s purses and jackets had been left in the shop, though police went with the petty theft theory, and since they didn’t believe there was any reason to be alarmed or any foul play was involved the burger shop was cleaned early the next morning, on November 18. The burger shop re-opened the next day as normal and no photographs of the scene were ever taken, leading to be a huge mistake.
No one heard from Jayne, Daniel, Mark or Ruth Ellen the next day, and Jayne’s car was found partially locked in town. People began to grow concerned and many started to believe that the four must of been abducted Friday night while closing the shop, most likely getting attacked while they removed trash bags out the back door.
On November 19, 1978, Jayne, Daniel, Mark and Ruth Ellen’s bodies were found over 20 miles away In the woods of Johnson County. Daniel and Ruth Ellen had been shot execution-style multiple times with a .38 caliber firearm, and had been found laying side by side facedown just off a gravel path. Jayne had been stabbed twice in the chest and was found nearby. The handle of the knife had broken off and was missing, the blade was later recovered during the autopsy. Mark had been bludgeoned, possibly with a chain, and had died from choking on his own blood. He was found the furthest away from the others, about 75 yards away and was closest to the main road. He was found laying on his back near a creek. All four employees had been found still wearing their Burger Chef uniforms.
Where Mark was found struck some people as odd, as he was found very far away from the others. It is also suspected that he may have run into something, possibly a tree trunk. Many believe that Mark escaped or had broken free from the killers and had begun to run away, but had run into a tree trunk, knocking him unconscious where he had fallen down a hill which resulted in him choking on his own blood.
Police found money and watches on the victims, leading them to believe that robbery may not have been the sole motive for the murders. The most popular theory is that the four were kidnapped during a botched robbery, and maybe one of them had recognized the perpetrators. Mark Flemmonds was covering another employee’s shift that night and was not initially scheduled to work. Investigators believe that he possibly recognized the killers, since they had not planned on him being there that night.
A 16 year old witness came forward and said they saw two suspicious looking men in a car outside the Burger Chef just before closing on November 17. Both of the men were white and in their 30′s. One of them had a beard, the other was clean shaven with light coloured hair.
Later in 1978, a man in a bar in Greenwood supposedly bragged that he had been involved in the murders. Police questioned him, but he passed a polygraph test and police had no other grounds to charge him. This man provided them with the names of the others, which he said belonged to a fast-food robbery gang and who investigators believe could be involved in the Burger Chef murders.
While following leads, police saw a man who looked very similar to the “bearded man” described from the witness. The man was asked to be in a line up but he had shaved his beard which he apparently had always had for the past 5 years the night before he was to appear in the line up. A neighbour of this man, who had been named as a suspect from the Greenwood man, went to prison for some strong-armed robberies he committed with a shotgun. Another man, also named by the Greenwood man, went to prison for other armed robberies of fast food restaurants. However, there was no confessions and no physical evidence so the police could not formally arrest anyone.
Investigators followed many leads in many different states but were not able to find any promising leads. They also were never able to find the firearm, the handle of the knife or the chain used in the murders. None of the supposed perpetrators made confessions, however, the son of the bearded man claimed his father had confessed to having been involved in the murders before he died.
The Greenwood suspect and the bearded man had died from suicide and a heart attack, which one of the investigators noticed happened close after the release of the armed robber named by the Greenwood suspect.
In 1981, Jayne’s brother James was investigated after he was arrested for unrelated drug charges, but was soon cleared.
In 1984 Detective Mel Willsey received a call from an inmate at the Pendleton Correctional Facility named Donald Forrester who was serving 95 years for rape. Forrester claimed he was involved in the Burger Chef murders and was willing to confess to avoid being transferred to an extremely violent Indiana state prison.
Forrester indeed had been living in the Speedway area when the murders took place and was not incarcerated at the time. Forrester admitted to shooting Daniel and Ruth Ellen and also led the police to the crime scene in the woods where he accurately described the location and position of the bodies when they were found. He also had knowledge of the broken knife handle which had not been widely known to the public.
Forrester claimed that Jayne’s brother James owed money on a drug deal, so he and three others had gone to the Burger Chef restaurant to threaten Jayne. Supposedly Mark intervened to protect Jayne and a fight broke outside the restaurant where Mark fell and hit his head on the bumper of a car. They thought Mark was either dead or dying so Forrester and his accomplices decided to abduct and kill the other employees to eliminate them as witnesses.
Forrester gave police the names of the three other men who had killed Mark and Jayne and led them to a spot where he claimed he threw the gun into a river. The river was searched thoroughly and no weapon was ever found. Forrester’s ex wife was also interviewed and she claimed that days after the Burger Chef murders, Forrester had driven her to a wooded area where he left her in the car and got out to retrieve several firearm shell casings from the ground. He then drove them back home and flushed the casings down the toilet.
Investigators got a search warrant to search the septic tank of the house, which was now owned by someone else. During the search, several spent .38 caliber shell casings were found. Soon after, someone within the Sheriff’s office leaked details of Forrester’s cooperation and he suddenly recanted his confession, saying he was coerced into confessing. Forrester was never charged and died in prison from cancer in 2006 at the age of 55.
Burger Chef offered a reward of $25,000 to anyone who could capture the murderers or provide information about their whereabouts. The police spent thousands of hours investigating this case but have never found enough physical evidence to link anyone to it. The case is still opened and remains unsolved 42 years later.
In the summer of 2018, a few months shy of the 40th anniversary of the murders, the community and friends and family of the victims raised money to plant four red oak trees in the victims’ honour. Each tree has a plaque with a short biography of Jayne, Daniel, Mark and Ruth Ellen. With the extra funds raised there is now a marble bench added and dedicated to their family and friends. On November 10, 2018, just one week before the 40th anniversary, a small dedication ceremony for family and friends was held at the memorial site at Leonard Park in Speedway, Indiana.
Police are looking into the possibility of DNA analysis and tracing with the evidence that they do have, which gives hope in the future for this case to be solved.

The Cowboy - Part 10
Tumblr media
Summary: Leaving the city for a rural area called Blayne seemed simple enough. Your task was to convince the people to agree with selling their land for a resort redevelopment. But once there, you soon realise that your city ways are entirely different to theirs. Winning their trust was going to take some effort, and when you start to fall for a local cowboy, you wonder if you really needed Blayne more than the city life after all.
Pairing: Jung Jaehyun x female reader
Genre: cowboy au / drama / romance / if you squint there’s some enemies to lovers up in here.
Warnings: Jung Jaehyun is a cowboy, need I say more? (a bit of angst and drama, and it sometimes might feel like you’re reading a Nicolas Sparks book, so I’m told lol) -- swearing, and I’ve never been to a rodeo in real life so I probably didn’t make a fully realistic scene, so don’t hate me, it’s fiction lol
Word count: 2281
This series will be updated every Thursday and Friday.

It truly was another world. The country music was playing live from the stage nearby and the endless row of stalls selling assortments from horse gear to food overstimulated you. You had lost Avery in the crowd, the tall man crossing paths with a group of women from high school.
Jaehyun smirked. “He’s always been the popular one.”
“And you the troublemaker?” you offered and Jaehyun laughed, shaking his head.
“You’re the troublemaker. How do you propose I deal with worrying about you when I’m warming up Trickster soon? Maybe you should come with me.”
“I’ll be fine exploring whilst you do that. I’ve seen you ride so much now, I’m convinced your butt is a perfect shape to mold to any saddle seat.”
“Well, you should know, having seen my butt how many times now?”
“Jaehyun!” you gasped, slapping his upper arm and looking around yourselves. You relaxed, realising you saw no familiar faces nearby.
He seemed to read your mind. “Avery knows about us. He’s helping me out by keeping his mother clueless.”
“Would anyone else come from Blayne today?” you asked, and Jaehyun shook his head.
“Not really. It’s more so people from the town over that will. And whilst you’re a household name in Blayne, you’re not on familiar terms yet with others. Which means…”
“Which means?” you repeated, grinning when Jaehyun reached for your hand, interlocking your fingers. You looked down at the gesture. “I felt that tremble, Jaehyun.”
“What tremble?” he feigned innocence for only a moment. “Maybe I have some butterflies about today. I want this to go well.”
“It will. I know it will.”
“Because I have your support?” he teased, and you shook your head, trying not to roll your eyes.
“Because it’s a passion of yours. I can tell you want this opportunity.”
“It would be real nice. Joey told me if I qualify, he can help me with the training. I’ll need to find extra time to do it, maybe travel to his barn a few times a week for evening training but it’s doable.”
“You’re so cute, you know that?” you said, recycling one of Jaehyun’s lines. He picked up on it and laughed. “I like seeing you this hopeful.”
“I’m hopeful about us too.”
“You are?”
“If I win today, my Dad will be pretty chuffed. Maybe we could tell him about us.”
“No more acting like teenagers over this. We’re grown adults, Jaehyun. Regardless of if you win or not, let’s tell him. I’m planning on meeting with him on Thursday for my business proposition, so if that goes well, I doubt he’ll have any concerns about us.”
“This is my Dad we’re talking about. There’s a whole lot about him, about us, that you don’t know.”
“Are you hiding someone in the attic?!” you asked, gasping dramatically. Jaehyun rolled his eyes. “You’ve got an entirely different life kept behind closed doors? How about being the culprit to-”
“Here you two are,” Avery interrupted, eyeing your linked hands with high interest. “Is this why you wanted to come today, Y/N? Away from the prying Blayne eyes, you can finally go on a date with your beau?”
“A date?” you pondered before looking up at Jaehyun. He grinned. “We’ve been on a few of those already in Blayne.”
“And no one knows that you two are together? Woah, I’m impressed with how well you’ve covered them up.”
“Not for long,” Jaehyun announced and you smiled happily, nodding in agreement. “But I am mighty glad you’re back, Avery. Can you keep an eye on this one? I’m sure if left to her own devices, some of the sellers in the market here will have her pulling out money she doesn’t need to spend.”
“You’re insulting my judgment so easily!” you called after Jaehyun’s departing back.
Avery grinned. “Well, you chose him over me. I’ve been doubtful of your taste this whole time.”
“Avery McConnell?”
Spinning to see another woman approach you both, you grinned. “He’s all yours. I’m going to go watch from the stadium.”
Tumblr media
An hour had passed by, and you were struggling with the concept of being at a rodeo. On one hand, it was thrilling to watch but also reckless. You knew there was a danger behind the sport, as there was with most sports. But you didn’t realise how easy it was to fall off at this calibre of competition.
You gasped as a young girl, no older than fifteen hit into a barrel and her horse was deep in the turn, losing its footing and the pair fell, the horse landing on top of her. With bated breath, you watched as she managed to get back to her feet, albeit with an evident hobble.
“Your first time?” an older woman asked knowingly, and you nodded. “Not from around here?”
“Originally from the city,” you admitted sheepishly, and the woman laughed.
“Called that by a mile.”
“Do I stand out that much?”
“You’re no country pumpkin like me, that’s for sure.”
“Ah.” You looked her over and smiled. “I think you’re lovely.”
“I wasn’t meaning how we look, love. You’re here to support your boyfriend, aren’t you?”
“How did you know?”
“And he’ll come out here soon, and you’ll be the type to cheer. Don’t. It’s really tacky and could throw him off. Do you even know what barrel racing is about?”
“Some. There’s three barrels, and you have to make it through the sequence with the fastest time and without touching them.”
“It’s a dangerous sport. The horses are trained athletes. It might be all over in fifteen to seventeen seconds, but during that time, it’s a race against their life. They need to move without any issue, carry the weight of their rider perfectly, and dig deep to get around and then gallop off again. And the riders are just as focused. It’s more than just a sequence. Everything counts.”
“Wow, and he had a chance to go pro for this?”
She laughed loudly then. “All cowboys will tell you that, sweetie. Who are you rooting for?”
“Jung Jaehyun,” you mentioned and her amused expression dropped, scooting closer to you. Leaning back from her sudden invasion of your space, you laughed weakly. “Is that a problem?”
“Oh, he’s good. He’s back on the circuit? He took time off ever since the fire. I didn’t think he’d be back to this level.”
“What fire?”
“Blayne’s fire,” she replied, her eyes now peeled to the catalogue, checking out Jaehyun’s details. She gasped. “Joey Newman’s horse?! He didn’t come to mess around today.”
You smiled politely at the woman, slipping into your thoughts. You knew this was a big thing for Jaehyun, but was he that big of a deal in this world? The new information explained the nerves, but he had downplayed this to you all day long. The barrel racing was one of the last sports on the schedule for this rodeo, and for hours beforehand, Jaehyun had assured you it was like a training event. Yet, this woman now had you believing otherwise.
“Can I ask something?” you enquired, coming out of your reverie and the blonde woman nodded. “What happens if he makes the top five today?”
“He’ll be scouted. Perhaps he already is getting calls. He held the fastest time for five years straight in this region. Everyone wanted a piece of him before his father pulled him out.”
“Pulled him out?” you breathed, blinking rapidly. “Why did he-?”
“How about you ask your cowboy that you’re having a fling with all about it, once he’s done racing the clock, if you have further questions.”
“It’s not a fling,” you corrected and she smiled sadly at you.
“Darl, I was dating Billy Burke. You might not know that name but everyone around here did. He went pro, won the Nationals and become a million dollars richer.”
“A million dollars?!”
She shrugged. “I was pregnant with his baby at the time he got offered to go pro. We were supposed to get married. But, you know, it was his dream to go pro. When given the choice between love and the race, he chose the latter. So what if he has money? He has all that fame now too. All I have is his kid who hasn’t met his Daddy once. Let me warn you, cowboys might charm you with their country hospitality but they all have bigger goals than the farms they run back home. Once Jaehyun is given the chance, he’ll forget that Blayne even exists.”
“I doubt that,” you defended. “I’m sorry to hear of your circumstances, and even if Jaehyun and I end, I can confirm Blayne means more to him than-”
“You really don’t know what he did to Blayne, do you?” Pity for you emerged in her eyes. “What do you know aside from his body then?”
Getting up, you stormed out from the bleachers you had been sitting upon, feeling foolish for being so worked up by a stranger. Before you could leave, however, Avery leapt up towards you and clapped his hands together. “He’s next up. Where are you going?”
“Oh, I uh, need fresh air.”
“Worried about him falling off? Don’t be. He’s the best here today, you’re about to see it. No one else can go from being a farmhand to a decent barrel racer without practising than Jaehyun. Come on, you can get air after his run.”
Nodding numbly, you allowed Avery to push you along, taking a seat again. Avery greeted a few of the people around you, and you watched the horse and rider before you now, finishing their run with ease. You looked to the sidelines, wondering where Jaehyun was.
“I thought you said he was next.”
“He is. He’ll be making his way in any second now.”
The grating voice of the commentator muted as soon as you saw the spotted horse come racing into the arena, your eyes peeled on the pair heading towards their first barrel. Clasping your hands together, you watched on intensely, praying Jaehyun and Trickster would make it around safely.
The woman had been right. It was a sport that relied on precision and speed. You had always considered a minute to be such a short period of time, but as the seconds went by, you found yourself changed. Every second counted now.
Jaehyun and Trickster rounded the final barrel and galloped to the exit, Avery’s screams and sudden shaking your arm jostled you out of the blur that had been your vision towards the end.
Fifteen seconds was all it took to give you clarity on your feelings.
“He made it! That lucky son of a bitch!” Avery rejoiced, and you stood up jarringly, walking down the aisle to the exit. Avery was still full of energy at your side. “He’ll be cooling Trickster down, Y/N. Come this way to the holding pen.”
You followed along in a slight daze, your heart thumping with the thoughts within your head. You disregarded all the information, the warnings that stranger had given you. When you saw Jaehyun walking the heavily breathing animal around and patting his neck, you almost broke into a run to reach the side of the pen faster.
Noticing your arrival, Jaehyun grinned and walked the horse over. “Well, what did you think?”
“I think I’m in love you,” you announced sincerely.
“After seeing only one run?!” Avery joked, but Jaehyun’s expression grew serious, not shifting away from yours even as he continued to walk the horse around.
Distractedly, Jaehyun called out for the groom of Joey’s ranch and dismounted, walking over to you and ducking under the metal bar that separated you from him. “You mean what you say?”
You nodded, choking on the sudden emotions that had come with your confession.
“You can’t take it back after I give you this chance, Y/N. You mean it?”
“I love you,” you repeated, and that was all it took for Jaehyun to crash his lips upon yours.
There was no thought to the professionals around you, nor Avery who had stepped aside to give you albeit a tiny amount of privacy. You didn’t care at all who watched you lock lips with Jaehyun right now.
Because it felt right.
You hadn’t expected to arrive in Blayne and find yourself looking in different directions for your life. It had always been well-planned out. You would build your career and work hard during these years, so when you had achieved all you set out for you could relax into love and create a family.
The country didn’t work like that. The values were so different from what you had experienced in your fast-paced life. And now that you had been given the opportunity to slow down a little, to take in the world outside of an office and not be attached to a screen day in and out, you were finding your desires were changing too.
You liked the idea of waking up in someone’s arms and falling asleep whispering sweet nothings to one another. During those fifteen seconds, you imagined your life without Jaehyun in it, and it made you want to do absolutely everything in your power to remain at his side.
You meant the love confession. You had never spoken of love to another person before. It was liberating, fulfilling. As Jaehyun burned his lips into yours, you knew he felt the same.
It hadn’t been long between you. But this summer romance was shaping your world more than you believed it had for his parents all those years ago.
You couldn’t imagine going back to the city now.

nct as dads.
a discussion i had with my universemate @haoluvver ~~ ot23!
taeyong
honestly i see him more as that uncle that everyone has that isn’t really their uncle more than a dad.
BUT IF HE DID HAVE KIDS— i think he’d be like so gentle with them </3 in that sort of “i don’t wanna break them” way </33
he’d also take them out A LOT. like anything outdoors? taeyong will do it with them. amusement parks? yep camping? yep. to the park around the block? a b s o l u t e l y.
also all of his kids would be male. 100%. like that man is 1000000% XY chromosomes.
kun
yall know that disney breakfast you see in the shows with 20284692 dishes? yeah kun is the type of dad to cook all of that.
he’d also be the type to help with their homework— like this man would research the absolute hell out of algebra or something.
dad jokes. awful dad jokes. but would he ever stop? absolutely not.
if he had girls he’d be SO overprotective of them— “that dress is too short”
taeil
please his kids would literally be duplicates of him and you know he’d revel in that every single day 365.
he’d 100% show off his kids achievements and be super proud of them for literally anything.
i can also see him being a little bit strict on grades, but would never yell at them for like getting under a certain percentage yk? he’d always express that he’d want them to do amazing.
johnny
johnny would be the cheesiest, most embarrassing father ever. but his kids know he loves them more than anything.
he’d definitely blast music when he’s picking them up from school— and if his kids had s/os he’d definitely show them his kids baby pictures.
TELL ME HE WOULDNT BE VLOGDAD. johfam... but literally.
he’d be that dad that other kids would want while his own kids would be like “you’re kidding right?”
dilf. we all knew it was coming 🏃🏼‍♀️
yuta
unlike taeyong— all of yuta’s kids would be girls. 100% like there is no doubt in my mind.
i honestly see him being so strict on dating just because he knows how people can be like. like no dating until you move out.
but the rule would probably fall through by the time his kids are like 16.
he’s ABSOLUTELY give his kids all freedom to like get piercings and tattoos and such (tattoos when their like 17 or something) but piercings? you want a helix? go right ahead. a septum? don’t have to ask him twice. a belly button one? the world is yours.
doyoung
he’d be such a protective dad omg. not overprotective but you know.
only certain members are allowed around his children— with his supervision. sorry lucas and hendery :')
he’d be an old fashioned dad— like he’d buy his kids an ipad and they’d probably know more about it than he would by the end of the day.
he’d prolly have three kids max plus a dog/cat or whatever pet his kids want. more than likely a fish because he’d be so burnt out by the third kid :')
ten
listen— this man is 50/50. he’d either have a bunch of kids or none.
i can definitely see him adopting.
he’d be so supportive of his kids with literally anything that isn’t life threatening.
he. is. a. soccer. mom. do not question me. he is at EVERY SINGLE event that his kids participate him and BEST BELIEVE he has a nice van to drive them in.
jaehyun
similar to ten he’d either not have any kids or just one— personally i see him with like one daughter.
this daughter literally has him wrapped around her finger. if she wanted a lamborghini dipped in gold jaehyun would probably buy it for her.
he’d be such a music dad. like he and his daughter would listen to music together and he’d take her record shopping. concerts are an absolute definite.
unlike yuta, jaehyun would stick to that no dating rule. as in anyone that looks remotely too close to his little princess will be getting doxxed right there on the sidewalk.
sicheng
he’d baby them. absolutely.
he’d probably be the type to have to approve of his kid’s friends so they don’t fall into the wrong crowd.
if his kid asked him to do like some extra curricular activity he’d want that kid to give it their all. his kids would probably want to be like him though.
he’d probably show off his kids for the smallest of things </3
jungwoo
this man would 1000% take his kids shopping. all of the clothes his kids own have been approved by him.
movie nights every month </3 please he’d turn his kids into such movie buffs.
i think he’d be big on grades not gonna lie but he wouldn’t curse them for going under the bar he’d set for them.
he is a road trip dad. he’d literally wake them up at 5 in the morning and tell them to pack because they would be driving for the next five hours or something.
lucas
LUCAS WOULD HAVE TWINS. ITS JUST A LUCAS THING TO DO.
when his kids are babies he’d be so scared of touching them </33 mainly because he is so much bigger than them and doesn’t want to accidentally hurt them.
he’d probably kiss them goodnight up until their late teens :')
he’d also be so chaotic please— he’d chase them around the house and would probably hide around the place to scare them.
all of his social media would be filled with his twins.
mark
CHEESY. DAD. #1.
just kun— like dad jokes ALL DAY.
he’d prolly be the one dad out of all of them that actually knows about his kids’ lives. “wait i thought chad was dating meghan?-” yep. mark knows everything.
his family would be a very frequent guest in johnny’s vlogs. please they’d be so chaotic.
his kids would be those cute-awkward kids and also that cute kid you see at hotels that you’re never gonna see again? mark’s kids.
xiaojun
his kids would be accidents no cap. but they’d be wonderful accidents. his little blessings.
okay but dejun would love his kids. like i know all parents are supposed to love his kids but dejun absolutely loves his kids— like they’re his whole world.
he’d probably be the type to impress his kids— he tries to be that cool dad but he’ll ultimately come off as cheesy.
hendery
he’d be such an embarrassing dad HELP.
he is that loud dad screaming at your football games. that dad that walks out with no pants when you have a friend over. that dad that claps ridiculously loud when you’re receiving an award.
he is also, somehow, a dilf as well— his kids’ teachers probably flirt with him ._.
he probably would have his midlife crisis early too.
renjun
i CANNOT see this man being a dad. like taeyong i see him as that family friend “uncle” that everyone has.
unlike taeyong though he is the rich uncle that comes along once a year.
BUT IF HE DID HAVE CHILDREN— he’d probably be the busy one ngl. he’d come home late monday to friday and tuck them in if they were still up.
but he’d definitely make it up to them on the weekend and any day he’s free— i’m talking trips anywhere, in and out of country and all that.
jeno
d i l f.
he’d help with his kids’ homework even though he has no idea what it is— it’s the thought that counts.
would probably call kun to help with the homework after thirty minutes— “hyung help i don’t remember trigonometry”
he seems like the trip dad. like his kids would come to school every month with like pictures from a new country.
haechan
HIS KIDS ARE 10000000% THEATRE KIDS.
he is regina george’s mom.
he’d embarrass his kids by being dramatic. in front of their friends, in front of family? doesn’t matter haechan will embarrass them.
tell me haechan wouldn’t drape up his kids everyday. that’s his form of love.
jaemin
jaehyun but make it ✨spicy✨
he’s that dad that will not speak to his children unless he has his coffee.
he wouldn’t be embarrassing but he’d probably drive his kids up a wall— energetic :D
his kids would probably make frequent visits to jeno’s or renjun’s (if he doesn’t have any kids)
yangyang
low-key rivalry with ten with their kids (it’s very one sided)
one of his kids is nicknamed 11. we all know it.
he’d probably be good with homework not gonna lie— anything but math. i cannot see yangyang liking math at all.
his kids are definitely multilingual and he talks to them in all of them at once. fluent in chi-kor-nglish
shotaro
will literally base his parenting on making sure his kids don’t find his tiktok account.
he’d spoil his kids to a point.
he is that dad that doesn’t age. he’d probably look like -10 years his age. he’d look the same age as his kids when they’re full-fledged adults.
his kids would definitely be best friends with sungchan’s, and would definitely make frequent trips to yuta’s house.
sungchan
i think he’d be the most laidback parent out of all of them— like a regular dad.
he’d probably do anything with his kids— if they asked him to make tiktoks with them consider it done. if they want to go roller skating? done. literally anything he loves spending time with his kids
his kids would probably be the golden kids out of all of nct’s— besides taeyong’s and kun’s of course.
chenle
if he does have kids, his kids are accidents. like come on. happy accidents though~
he’d be the cool dad— the members would most likely envy him for it (johnny)
he’d probably reward his kids for their hard work and wouldn’t be the hardest on grades but he doesn’t want his kids failing either.
jisung
every day is a new adventure— he is the dad that didn’t bother to ask for advice or read parenting books :')
i can only see him with like one son that is literally he and chenle combined.
he and chenle would probably live together if they were single dads.
he is the dad that you’ll find collapsed in bed/the couch after work or after his kid goes off to school.
(low-key puts alcohol in his coffee)

Tumblr media
A/N: I don’t know if anyone has seen the video of those girls throwing water at Harry’s car but first of all fuck them and second that’s so not chill. I got a little upset but then I started thinking about going home with H and having him take it out on you. And then I started writing this piece which was supposed to be for BFHarry’s fic challenge and then it turned into husband and soon to be dad H with Beatrice and Harry! I am forewarning you that this is filthy and I hope you enjoy.

Sometime in the fall of 2022
Friday, 6:00 PM, London
Being home in London felt good.
As a little girl, I always dreamed of living in the land of the Queen. I perfected my English accent by the time I was ten, whipping it out at parties and sometimes school plays. When I was 15, a freshman in high school, I auditioned for our school play that would take place in Kent, England. Our sister school would accept us in their homes for six months of the year while we rehearsed and learned together. I was crushed when I didn’t get the part and I was utterly terrified that I would never get the chance to see London or Brighton. But after meeting Harry, it was one of the first serious conversations we had. The third night of our relationship, we were cuddled up in his Malibu home, talking about forever. He mentioned going home to see his Mum after his first solo world tour and though I was upset that he would be so far, I was happy for him.
“I’m gonna tell her about you, you know?” He kissed over my wet cheeks as I sniffled. “Gonna tell my Mum about the girl I met in L.A and how she’s gonna be my wife someday.”
Three days.
That’s how long we had known each other when he said that.
And he wasn’t wrong about it.
I stepped out of my London car with my purse and to go coffee mug in hand. The car was far too expensive for my taste, but Harry insisted on having me drive the safest car on the market. Wanda, my very first Audi SUV, was big enough to fit myself, Harry, and the car seat he had installed for our future son. I dropped a free hand to my stomach, softly caressing my baby bump with a smile on my face. Ellis was kicking up a storm as he normally did around this time. I was done with work and the sun was setting which meant that a talk with Daddy would only be moments away.
“It’s alright little love,” I winced at a particularly hard kick. “Daddy's home, just give me a moment to get inside.”
I let out a heavy sigh, walking up the few steps to our newest home.
It still wasn’t quite ready yet, walls unpainted and furniture askew, but it was home.
I was still working in Milan with Vogue for at least three more weeks and Harry was on his European leg of the tour. I was in town for my doctor’s appointment scheduled for Saturday, and Harry was free of any shows or interview obligations for the weekend. In three weeks, I would officially be home in London and on maternity leave. I would be working from home, skyping with Anna and talking with the board about the new London office, but it would be nice to enjoy some time with Ellis and Harry without any work obligations getting in the way.
“Darling,” I called out, shutting the door behind me with a smile. “Are you home?”
“Just in the kitchen, honeybee!” Harry called out.
I dropped my purse on the table by the front door, dropping my keys inside so they wouldn’t get lost before tomorrow. Next, I slipped off my shoes and then peeled myself out of my jacket. It was by no means freezing in London, but the fall chill was starting to set in. I made my way towards our kitchen, my hands pressed into my bump as my nose picked out the scent of oregano and tomato. Harry’s back was towards me, his hands working on something on the countertop. He looked delectable, as always, his back covered by a black t-shirt and a pair of highwaisted trousers settled on his tiny little hips. With a happy hum, I moved around the kitchen island.
“Hiya squid.” I pressed my lips over his shoulder, pressing my hands to his hips.
“There’s my girl.” He peered over his shoulder, dropping the knife he had been using before reaching for a tea towel. “Gimme a kiss.”
He turned around as I puckered my lips out, kissing him a few times before his hands took over resting on my bump. For a split second, we had a moment to ourselves. But it was over the moment Ellis started kicking around again, angry that he wasn’t greeted by his Daddy before me.
“Ellis, little man, you’ve gotta stop that.” I frowned, glancing down at my belly. “Mummy and Daddy are trying to say hello.”
“Is someone being a little bugger today?” Harry hummed, crouching down until he was at eye level with my belly. “That’s not very nice, Ellie, is it?”
Our son calmed down seconds after hearing Harry’s voice.
“I think he needs you to fall asleep.” I whispered, brushing my fingers through Harry’s hair as he looked up at me. “He’s been kicking around all day so I know he’s tired.”
“S’alright little one.” Harry kissed over my belly a few times before standing up. “Why don’t you get changed into something more comfortable and then settle in on the couch. Dinner is nearly done and I’ll be right there.”
“Alright.” I smiled, humming happily when Harry pressed his lips to mine again. “I love you.”
“Love you too, honey.”
Saturday, 10:00 AM; London
Harry and I’s pregnancy wasn’t news to anyone.
Working for Vogue and being Harry Styles’ wife meant that a lot of eyes were on me constantly. Anna suggested biting the bullet and doing a spread for the magazine would be our best option. A few months ago, we agreed. There was a maternity shoot done in our L.A home with me barefoot and pregnant and Harry doting on me as he always did. We did a quick interview on paper, a quick photo shoot, and a small video tour of our home before Anna called it quits. The world went crazy when it all came out, the official announcement on my Instagram promoting the video. Since then, it had been quiet. There wasn’t a lot of fuss over me and Harry was still getting his usual amount of fans at the airport and other places when he traveled, but other than that we were fine.
Until today.
“Mr. Styles,” The receptionist at our OBGYN’s office in London looked nervous. “There’s quite a large crowd of people outside of our building.”
“Bloody hell.” He grumbled under his breath, letting out a heavy sigh. “I’ll have it taken care of. I’m very sorry about that, love.”
“S’alright.” She said quickly. “We’ve locked the doors so no one is permitted in and our other patience won’t be her until after lunch. It should be fine.”
“Thank you.” She nodded before retreating from our exam room. “I need to let Jeff know. We need someone to have the car pulled around when we leave.”
“You can go talk to them while we wait, Harry.” I said softly, reaching for his hand. “Or after, even, I don’t mind.”
“M’not really in the mood today.” He mumbled, reaching for his phone. “I want you in the car, untouched and safe more than anything.”
I didn’t argue with him, nodding along as Ellis moved around in my belly.
Harry spent most of the wait typing on his phone, no doubt talking with Jeff. I sat there anxiously, twiddling with my fingers while I waited for our doctor to come in. Another ultrasound would be happening today and we would be going over the final steps of my pregnancy and birth plan. When Dr. Hillcrest stepped inside, my heart rate increased. Harry put his phone away, reaching for my hand as she greeted us.
“So, how have you been feeling Mummy?” She asked, sitting down on her stool with her clipboard in hand. “Any braxton hicks?”
“Once or twice.” I nodded. “First time I thought I was in labor, scared the hell out of me.”
“It is quite scary when you’re not used to it.” She chuckled. “As we’re nearing the end of your third trimester, there are some things we need to go over. We’re doing tests for Glaucoma, Anemia, Hep B, and a few other things. We’ll be going over the final steps of your birth plan today as well. Have you toured any of the hospital’s in Milan?”
“Yes, I did a few last week.” I nodded. “I’ve decided on Mangiagalli.”
“Perfect.” She said. “I’ll get in contact with the head of the Maternity Ward today and I’ll make sure they have all of the information.”
“We’re really hoping he’s not born in Milan.” Harry chuckled softly. “It would be a bit odd to have him there while Beatrice is trying to close out the office.”
“Odd is a very nice way to say it.” I laughed. “But I’m glad we’re prepared.”
“Babies wait for no one.” Dr. Hillcrest let out a soft chuckle. “I hope you don’t deliver there either, I would love to be there with you when you deliver.”
It took another hour or two before we were finished in the office.
I was told that in about four weeks, I would need to stop flying.
That gave me plenty of time to get things finished up in Milan before making it home to London. Harry had plenty of questions for Dr. Hillcrest and I was thankful that he remembered all the ones I wanted to ask as well. When we were done with the testing and the ultrasound, Harry helped me slip back into my comfortable clothes before lacing his fingers with mine. The nervous smile he gave me meant there was still a crowd outside that we had to deal with. I squeezed his finger, reassuring him that no matter what happened, we would be fine.
“The car is up front.” He said softly. “We’re getting you in first and then me. No stopping, no talking, just get in the car.”
“Alright.” I said softly. “We’ll be fine.”
“I know.” He kissed me quickly before leading me outside.
The cheering increased, loud screams and Harry’s name being chanted nearly shocked me. I hadn’t seen a crowd this big outside of a building before. I glanced over at Harry, my heart rate picking up a little as he talked to a man dressed in all black. Harry glanced back at me, pulling me closer to his side before ushering me to the car. He opened the passenger side door for me, shielding my body from the crowd as my hands started to shake. He reached for my seat belt, his eyes full of worry and anxiety.
“I’m sorry, honey.” He cooed, pressing a quick kiss to my cheek. “S’gonna be alright. Just give me a minute, yeah?”
“I love you.” I said, reluctant to let his hand go.
“I know, honey.” His lips pressed into mine. “You’ve gotta let go so I can get in, okay?”
I nodded weakly, loosening my grip up.
Harry shut the door and I tried to avoid looking out the window, but there was a crowd of girls moving in closer and closer. I was afraid that they would get to the door before I did, but I couldn’t lock Harry out. I gasped when the drivers side door opened, snapping my head around to see Harry. He locked the doors before flipping the car in drive. Seconds after we started moving, I heard thudding against the side of the car door. My anxiety was washed away by anger, water splashing against the side of the car as they continued to throw their bottles at us.
“Fucking hell.” I snapped, my fingers balling up into fists. “That’s just ridiculous.”
Harry didn’t say a word, peeling out of the lot and onto the streets of London.
He was careful not to speed the entire way home, but I could tell that he wanted to.
At some point, his hand landed on my thigh, squeezing firmly as his jaw clenched. I watched the profile of his face, worried more about how he was taking it than myself. These were his fans that had pissed him off. They had come to close for comfort and they had crossed a line when they started throwing things at us. When we made it home, he slammed the car into the park before getting out. Gently, he helped me out of the car, his hand landing right on my bump as my feet hit the ground. The small action sparked something in me, a pool of wetness beginning to form between my thighs. When we made it in the house, Harry started to move away from me.
“Wait,” I said, holding his hand tightly. “Where are you going?”
“Gonna go blow off some steam.” He said. “I’m fucking livid.”
“I know.” I nodded. “Take it out on me.”
“What?” He said, his wild eyes growing wider as he let out a bitter laugh.  “I’m not gonna do that, Beatrice.”
“I want you to take it out on me, Harry.” I stepped forward, reaching for his other hand. “Fuck me.”
“Beatrice, no.” He said. “What happens if I’m too rough? What happens if I lose-”
“As if I would let you do anything to harm me seriously, Harry.” I scoffed. “You’ll be fine and I promise to tell you if it’s too much. But please, fuck me.”
His chest was heaving as he looked down at me, his lips shiny from licking and biting over them nervously in the car. He let out a soft curse before lunging forward, his hands grabbing my face firmly. I whimpered in relief when he pressed his lips into mine, his tongue showing no mercy as it explored my mouth. It had been weeks since we made love and months since we’d had a proper fuck. Things were more tender for us in the bedroom, Harry’s fear of harming me or Ellis ever present at the front of his mind. When my bum collided with the couch, I knew I was going to get what I wanted from him. Harry pulled his lips from mine, tugging my shirt over my head quickly.
My leggings were next to go, my hands pressed into his shoulders as I clumsily stepped out of them. I didn’t bother with a bra or panties, knowing that our only stop would be the doctor's office today. When Harry’s head disappeared past my bump, I whined. Seconds later, I felt his teeth scraping over my thigh before lightly biting down. I welcomed the sting, a rush of warmth flooding over me as my pussy began to throb before him. Harry pulled back when I started to move my hips closer to his face, wanting to feel his tongue caressing my clit.
“Not now.” He growled out, standing up. “Upstairs, on the bed.”
“What?” I squeaked out, sure that I would get my proper fucking right here. “What’s wrong with the floor?”
“Now, Beatrice.” He gripped my chin with his thumb and forefinger, his voice stern. “On all fours.”
When I turned around reluctantly, pouting at the missed opportunity for floor sex, I felt a sharp smack on my ass. I cried out, glancing back at Harry as I pressed my hand over my bum. Harry smirked at me, crossing his arms as I waddled away with narrowed eyes. I had asked for it and I was definitely going to get what I wanted. I climbed up the stairs slowly, waddling towards our bedroom. When I made it to our bed, I did as I was told. My hands and knees pressed into the plush mattress, our duvet soft on the skin of my knees. Maybe this was better than the floor.
After a few moments, Harry was pushing into the room behind me. He wasted no time stripping himself down before kneeling on the bed behind me. I opened my mouth, prepared to make a smart comment about him being eager, but I was cut off before I could even speak. The head of his cock pushed into me first and then the rest followed. I gasped, dropping my head forward as his hips collided with mine. I clenched my eyes shut, welcoming the feeling of Harry’s length.
“Always squeeze me so good.” Harry moaned out behind me and I could imagine he’d dropped his head back in bliss. “Hold tight for me, yeah? Tell me if it’s too much, Beatrice. Promise me you will.”
“I promise,” I gasped out as he pulled away, his cock leaving my walls vacant and begging for more. It didn’t last long before was fucking into me again, harder this time as his fingers dug into the flesh of my hips. “Oh!”
Harry’s soft grunts and the force of his thrusts had me sitting on cloud nine. I was enjoying the pounding I was getting, his hips slapping against mine as he gave me everything he had. I was a babbling mess below him, begging for more, harder, faster, please! Harry met my every need, angling his hips perfectly so that he was hitting every spot within me that I needed to be satisfied. It didn’t take long for me to cum around him, my walls fluttering without warning as my arms started to grow weak. Harry was quick to mold his chest to my back, pulling me up until my head was dropped back on his shoulder. He had no problem fucking me just as hard as I came around his cock.
“V’got you honey,” He nipped at my ear. “I’ve got you. Gonna make you cum again for me, okay? Can you do one more for me?”
I nodded, but that wasn’t enough.
“Say it.” He grunted, sliding the hand that was holding my  belly up to my throat. “Use your words.”
“Please, Harry.” I whimpered as his fingers rested over my throat. “Make me cum again.”
“Good girl.” His teeth raked over the skin of my shoulder before he bit down on me, a loud moan tearing from my throat. “There’s my girl, so fucking good for me all the time.”
“Yes, yes.” I cried out as he delivered a few thrusts that were harder than the others. “M’gonna cum, M’gonna-”
“Do it.” He said. “Cum on my cock honey. Give me a good one.”
A flash of white took over my senses as I tightened around his cock.
I wasn’t sure if I had moaned, my mouth dropped open as I reached out for Harry’s hand on my hips. My body jerked against his as he stilled inside of me, grunting loudly in my ear as his hips flexed forward. He pushed his cum inside of me, almost as if he was trying to put another baby in me. When I finally came back to my senses, Harry was slipping out of my walls and I was crying.
“No, no.” I sniffled, reaching back for his hips. “Stay.”
“Honey, I’m...I can’t.”
A soft sob ripped out of my throat and seconds later, Harry was guiding my body to the bed.
“What’s wrong, honey?” His hands were flying all over my body, pressing into my skin to make sure I was fine. He settled his palm on my belly, his eyes wide with fear. “What hurts?”
“I just wanted you to stay in me.” I sniffled, reaching up to wipe under my eyes. “I’m so empty now.”
“Oh, honey.” He collapsed on the bed next to me, kissing over my face. “It’s alright, it’s gonna be alright.”
I curled myself into his chest, digging my fingers into his sides as he covered our naked bodies with the throw at the end of our bed. He pressed gentle kisses over my forehead, brushing his hand up and down my back in soothing circles to try and calm me down. Rationally, I knew it was pregnancy hormones, but I still felt empty without his cock in me.
“Turn around fo’ me.” He whispered, patting my thigh. I did as he said, turning on my side as another sob pulled from my throat. “It’s alright, honey. Lift your leg up and put it on the pillow.”
He guided one under my leg, brushing his hand softly over my thigh as he moved his front closer to my back. Seconds later, I felt the head of his cock at my entrance.
“Hold on, sweet girl.” He whispered. “You ready?”
I nodded my head, reaching back to hold onto his hip as he slipped inside of me, harder than he had been earlier when we started our little escapade.
“So fucking tight, honey.” He whimpered into my ear. “S’that what you wanted?”
“Yes.” I gasped out wetly, nodding my head. “S’full.”
“Love you so much, Beatrice.” He whispered as I started to drift off. “Close your eyes for me honey, go to sleep.
“Love you, too.”

Fanfic Friday #10
Welcome to Fanfic Friday! Each Friday I will post a new fanfic here and on A03. Enjoy x
Read and save it on A03 here
{peter stark and a no good very bad day}
Ship: Steve Rogers/Tony Stark, Tony Stark/Steve Rogers & Peter Stark
Warnings: swearing, fluff otherwise :)
Wc: 3,984
Today, everything had gone wrong. He stayed up way past his bedtime the previous night and had gotten barely three hours of sleep by the time he arrived at school. He forgot his Spanish homework in the lab and that was the one grade he needed to pull from an A- to an A. He chugged a couple shots of espresso, and his usual store on the walk to school was closed. Meaning he had no redbull to sustain him through his classes.
Also, guess which class was straight bangout first, Spanish. So he hadn't done the homework and had no time to do it. Great. Fortunately, he made it through first period Spanish, only getting slightly scolded for not handing in the assignment. Then he had a break, and the kid desperately needed a pick me up coffee and muffin. He went to the closest cafe, one he’d come to love, only to find the whole football team there. Which would have been fine, if he wasn’t so goddamn awkward. He stood there for a solid five minutes before he asked the jock in his way to move so he could order.
Then, when the kid did get to ordering they ran out of fuckin chocolate muffins. What kinda cafe runs out of chocolate muffins at ten am? This one apparently. So coffee and blueberry muffin in hand, he headed back to the student lounge to get some work done.
The next portion of his day went as planned, a welcomed change of pace. Well Flash was a bitch, but what was new there. And his senses were through the roof. But other than that. That was all until the last period. To start, he got a text from his boyfriend, explaining that he’d no longer be arriving this Friday, but instead the following Saturday. Peter wanted to cry. He missed his boy. Leaving Harley on read, he tried to focus on chemistry, but he’d done the stuff they were going over about 100 times with Dr. Banner. He zoned out the entire class.
Finally, the bell rang and put him out of his misery. He quickly texted Ned asking if he was coming in the following day. He had been sick that day. He went to leave, but the class was stopped by the announcement of a test and more homework. For fuck sake.
He did get out, though. And he got straight in the car, barely pausing to say hello to Happy. Noticing the boy's unusual quiet, he didn’t press for more details about Peter’s day. Happy, though he’d never say it, enjoyed hearing about the kids day. He had come to really care for Peter, and his accomplishments made the older man happy. Ironic, he knew.
They had arrived at the tower in almost record time, and Peter was glad to have avoided extra time in the car. What he really craved was a couple hugs from his dads, a chat with his boyfriend, and to get through the stack of busy work that weighed him down.
Happy went round to the private entrance, wished the kid a good day, and headed off to some other errand. Peter exited, scanning his pass at security and being recognized and let through by Friday. So, he’d finally made it upstairs and there the sofa was, filled with a few avengers. Luckily his parents were among them. The two were sitting close to each other, as normal.
Peter simply put his head in his pops lap, and he laid his feet on his dad. Neither Steve nor Tony said anything, but they gave each other the look. Steve ran his hands through his son’s hair lovingly. “Pete?” Tony asked, “What happened kid?” “Nothin’” Peter replied, still buried in his Pop’s lap. “You sure about that?” Steve pressed. “Just a bad day,” Peter mumbled. “What happened паук?” Nat spoke up. She is very protective of Peter. “What didn’t happen?” he sighed dramatically. “Well you mope for as long as you like, Pete,” Tony joked. “Thanks dad,” he said, closing his eyes again in search of sleep. “Teenagers I tell you,” Clint said, rolling his eyes. “Fuck you Barton,” Peter mumbled before falling asleep properly. “He really is your child, Tones,” Clint laughed. “Hey Peter just said a bad language word,” Nat remarked. “God I hate all of you,” his Pops groaned. Then Peter fell into peaceful, safe sleep.
“Pete?” his Pops said, entering his room. He moved around, noticing he’d been moved from the sofa to his own room. He groaned. “Hello to you too.” “Yes, Hi, father, Captain America, Leader of the Avengers, Man of Strengt-” “Ok relax,” Cap rolled his eyes. Peter sat up, smirking. “Wanna tell me what actually happened today?” “J-just everything that could possibly go wrong went wrong.” “Did that start with you staying in the lab way past a normal sleeping time?” “Perhaps. How did you kn-” “You are aware that your dad designed that whole lab situation, right?” “Fair enough.” “Do we have to initiate Insomnia protocol again?” “God no, it was one night.” “Promise.” “Swear. Just an awful day. Spidey senses all acting up, being annoying, no chocolate muffins. Speaking of which, can I have the day off tomorrow? I have basically no classes.” (he wasn’t sure why, but all but one of his classes were cancelled.) Steve thought for a moment. He knew the kid had been through a lot always, and a day off never hurt anyone. Also, he was far too smart to be there anyway. “Yeah. Let me just double check with Dad, okay?” “Thanks.” “We’re eating dinner now so get cleaned up?” “Yep. Coming.”
The next day
Peter awoke at 10 with a smile on his face. He’d peacefully regained energy. He’d finished his school work the previous night, and he was happy to just relax for a day. He pulled on some SI sweatpants and a hoodie he’d stolen from Harley awhile back.
“Hey parentals,” he greeted, still holding his smile. “Morning,” his Pops said as he cooked breakfast. “Morning? Is it already?” I bet you can guess who that came from. “Tones,” Steve said, voice full of its normal concern. Peter just laughed, taking a stool at the bar. “What? I’m fine. I’m having fun.” “You promised you’d at least take a nap.” “Oops,” he smiled, heading back in the direction of the lab. “You’re a great role model to our son!” “You really are dad!” Peter added. “Love you both dearly.” Steve rolled his eyes and Peter chuckled. “Where’s the rest of the team?” Peter inquired. He’d come to realize that saying team was easier than naming all the residents of the tower. “Nat, Clint, Wanda, and Pietro are training. Thor and Loki went back to Asgard last night, and Bruce is in his lab.” “Oh, Loki didn’t tell me he was going back.” “Some emergency. Sorry kid.” “Yeah, i-it’s fine.” “He told me to assure you they’d be back soon.” “Good.” “Keaner getting here soon?” “Nah coming tomorrow now. Something about something, I don’t really know.” “Ok. Made grilled cheeses and tomato soups. It's almost done,” Steve offered. “Thanks,” Peter said. “What’s with Loki leaving that's got you so down?” “I just miss him a lot.” Steve knew that his Kid and loki had come to get on surprisingly well. They were as close as he and Nat. Not even Clint had managed to get that close.
Peter practically inhaled a couple of sandwiches. “I’m going to go work with Dad.” “Have fun!” “I will.” “Love you.” “Love you, too.” He sped down to the lab, where he could hear his Dad’s ACDC blasting as usual. “Heyo, what you working on?” “The suit nanotech. Wanna give your old man a hand?” “Always. Bring up the blueprints. What adjustments have you made so far? “Just the molecule distance and expansion weight. Trying to help stabilize the structure.” “What about the build construction stacking?” So they dove into work, Peter easily keeping up with the genius.
“Nicely done, getting too smart for me. What are you even doing in high school?” “Being bored and failing my humanities classes.” “You're not actually failing your classes are you? Grades are not everything bu-” “Relax father, I’m doing well in all my classes.” “I should probably know that. In fact I’ll actually show up to your next parent teacher conference.” “Please don’t,” Peter smiled. His father was generally very embarrassing. “Friday, make sure I’m at the kid’s next conference?” “Reminder set.” “Thanks, Fri.” “Anytime boss.” “God Fri please remind me to not show up for my next conference.” “Heyyyy,” Tony said, faking offence. “Dad, you can be very overbearing.” “I know, but-” “No.” “Fine, guess I’m not coming. Trying to be a good father and parenthood isn’t for me.” “I beg to differ,” Steve said, coming in to check on us, “realise you're no match for Peter’s intelligence yet?” “No fucking way. I’m a genius. Many PHDs. Kid hasn’t even finished high school, plus he has an A- in Spanish,” Tony laughed. “How did you-,” Peter rolled his eyes. “Friday just sent them to me.” “You’re awful.” “Hey watch it, MIT is still your dream school?” “I fucking hate you so much,” Peter really did loved this kind of banter with his father. “Maybe I do agree that parenthood isn’t for you, love.” “Capsical, you are a traitor. You’re supposed to always be on my side.” Steve kissed Tony’s cheek and ruffled Peter’s hair before saying, “Pepper needs you. Something about important business.” “Really important?” “She says if you don’t come she’ll lock you out of the company.” “That important then. Fri, tell Pepper that I’m coming.” “She has been notified, sir.” “Thank you. Bye then, Peter don’t fuck anything up.” “The same to you Mr. Stark.” Tony left the lab with a chuckle. “You two will be the death of me.” “Almost certainly.” “You staying in here?” “Nah, I have some projects in my lab waiting for me.” “You know your dad was joking about the grades right? Because grades really don’t mean anything, and they don’t define you. Nor does your intelligence. You are so much more than all that. And all these suits and mechanicy genius things-” “Pops. I’m fine. I know,” he smiled at his dad. “I just read in this parenting book that something smart or gifted kids can feel like th-” “Pops, you and dad are the best parents a kid could ask for. Stop worrying too much or you’ll turn grey like dad.” Captain America just smiled at his kid because he was the best. “Right. Good. Have fun.” “Will do.”
He messed with the design for the 100th millionth time but he couldn't get the vibrainim to synthesize with the web fluid. “Fri, get me another cup of coffee, please.” “For fuck sake, why isn’t this working,” he said to himself. He began to mess with the 3d hologram again. He typed in Mock 32 for the design and started trying again. “Pepper Potts is requesting access to the lab.” “Access granted,” he said to Fri. “Hey Pete, how’s it going?” “Badly, but it's fine. IS THAT COFFEE?” “White mocha latte, triple shot espresso,” She said, placing it down on the desk. “Ok..back up. What do you need?” “What, I can’t just bring my favorite stark a coffee?” “Aren’t you busy?” he asked skeptically. “Yes. Incredibly. So it is a peace offering. I allowed a tour access to this lab to look around, and see what a higher ups lab looks like in action. Fri will hide all of the classified things, and I thought you’d be at school. Tony just told me you weren’t so, here we are.” “He actually showed up to your meeting?” “Yes, and it wasn’t my meeting. He just needed to be there, and I didn't.” “I take your peace offering. It’s fine, I don’t care. So long as they don’t touch my shit.” “Good. Greet them, let them look around. Smile your cute smile. They’ll be up in five.” “FIVE MINUTES?” “Yep. Sorry, Hun, got to run. Thanks.” “You owe me one!”
As promised, the class showed up in five minutes. He was fine with the concept of a class showing up, he was not, however, good with his class showing up. “Is that Penis Parker?” He heard Flash. “Holy hell that is Park?” “IS THAT PETER?” “Did Peter break in?” “How is Peter here?” He couldn’t exactly kick them out. So, embracing his inner Tony Stark charm and Steve Rogers kindness, he opened the lab door, stepping into the corridor.
“EVERYONE PLEASE BACK UP AND BE QUIET!” The tour guild, Aliah, yelled. They were a kind person who Peter knew a bit. The classes quieted down.
“Hello, Aliah.” “Hi Peter,” they greeted, “Sorry, I hadn’t realized you’d be in today. I’ll just take them to our next stop.” “No, no it's fine. If it’s alright, I’ll give them a little tour sorta thing. I don’t mind, plus I kinda promised Pepper.” “That’d be really cool. Thanks.” “Yeah. Call ‘em over.” “Yeah. We’re just waiting on their teacher, he’s in the restroom.” “Course.”
Mr. Harrington showed up, questioning Aliah about the next stop. Then, he saw Peter. “Mr. Parker!” he exclaimed angrily, “How dare you show up here without a permission slip and claiming to be sick. What is this? We will be speaking with the principal and your parents about this! I am so sorry Aliah. Peter shot Aliah the “I got this” look. “Hi Mr. Harrington, I was unwell this morning, but I felt better so I came into work. Yes, I do have an internship here,” he said, loud enough for the class to hear. “The next stop on your tour,” they said, “is to Peter’s lab. He’s been so kind to give us a run-down.” Peter simply point at the door which read “Lab #55: Peter Parker.” “Right, uh, um, sorry Mr. Parker, please let us continue.” Peter smiled through his nerves. “Right, hello there class! I will be giving you a tour of my lab. I do some pretty important work, so I’m going to ask Friday to activate the ‘Guest Protocol’ to hide the classified stuff. It’s also very dangerous, so please do not touch anything.” There were nods from the class. “Right, Fri complete guest protocol and allow tour of Aliah to enter.” “Yes miniboss.” He re-entered his lab. “So, most of the time I work here,” he said, pointing to the biggest holograph table, “I work on designs, changes, and any mockups that need to happen. I then make them a reality. I can also run simulations on any formulas to see if they would be successful.” “Fri, please pull up the WFV project I was just working on for Spiderman.” “Right away mini-boss.” “So as you can see I’m trying to get the vibranium intertwine itself with Spiderman’s web fluid. This would allow the webs to be almost 47 times stronger, and also would allow them to conduct electricity, which has many uses. Anyone have any questions?” Ava raised her hand and Peter nodded at her, “Hey, so how did you learn all this? Like, it seems really complicated and you're in my chem class, so.” “I’ve worked a lot with both Mr. Stark and Bruce Banner, who’ve taught me most of what I know throughout the years. I also took a few online courses to solidify some subject matters I didn’t quite understand,” Peter, satisfied with his answer, asked if anyone else had inquired. “How did you get an internship here?” “Mr. Stark found me on the internet and took a liking to my projects. He met me and decided I’d fit right in here,” Peter explained simply. It was a lie of course, but it functioned as their cover story. “Anyone else? No. Cool, so moving onto some other sections in the lab. Over in that corner are the testing rooms. I have some more equipment scattered around for certain projects or just overall help on making things. Feel free to look around for 5-7 minutes and ask any questions you may have.” Some kid, Peter wasn’t sure of their name, raised his hand. “Why do you have cars in here? Are they yours?” “Some of the cars are mine, courtesy of Mr. Stark, who claims no lab is complete without some collection of cars. I can’t even drive them, to your point, but I guess I will when I’m eighteen. Some of the cars are Mr. Harley Keener’s, who I occasionally share my lab with. He doesn't do Avengers related projects, but he does love to tinker here and there. ‘Specially on the cars. See that red one, yeah he bought it for 5k and fixed it up. It’s actually an electric car, he just likes the old timers look. Guess that’s on him and da-Mr. Stark.”
No one seemed to have any other question, so he allowed them to look around. MJ nor Ned seemed to be in this class. He guessed they were in another group that wasn’t coming up here, or they went to a different location.
The tour went smoothly, and Flash seemed too shocked to say anything. “Peter! Peter!” Bucky came in yelling. Peter ran over to him. “Please keep it down uncle Buck.” “Oh shit your class is here!” “Yes now please don’t embarrass me.” “Won’t do! Just wanted to ask where Loki went.” “Asgard official business,” I said with a frown. “Really? He didn’t say a thing!” “I know.” “That little shit.” Peter laughed alongside Bucky. “Did you need anything else?” “Yeah, my arm's a little fucked up. Need a hand.” “Happy to give it a look. Dad in a meeting?” “To all our shock, yes.” “Ha. Give me a sec to get my class outta here.” Bucky nodded. “Right everyone, thanks for visiting. Please head towards the exit. The lovely Aliah will take you to your next location. They are awesome!” A murmur of “thanks Peter” and “is that the winter soldier” spread through the room. “See ya round,” Aliah said to him personally, “And thanks for this.” “Anytime. Bye!” They smiled a warm smile before leading the class out.
“What’s not working so well?” Peter asked. “Just some tightness in the finger motion. “Alright, okay. Fri, get me an update of the schematics, please.” “Yes, sir.” They appeared on the holographic table Peter was working at. “Right, can I please get a current scan of Uncle Bucky’s arm?” “Yes. Shall I place them next to the schematics?” “Yep. And highlight all differences.” “Yes miniboss.” “You gotta stop with that Fri.” “Name unable to be changed under the authority of Tony Stank, Badass Boss, God of Mischief, and Fiance.” “Glad the whole team is against me living a good life,” Peter remarked with an eye roll. “You drama queen.” “Thanks,” Peter smiled. “You know what’s wrong yet?” Peter opened up the schematics, looking at the highlighted section of the 3d arm model. He didn’t speak for a moment. “So I reckon, you fucked up the wiring and section T4’s minigears. None of the important tech is messed up, it’ll be fine. Maybe a half an hour fix. Max.” “Good, good. Thanks kid,” Bucky said with an appreciative smile. He nodded, disconnecting the arm carefully. He placed it onto his table next to the holographic model. He gave a skeptical look. “Something bad?” “No, no, I was just thinking. Thinking, hmn.” “Care to share with the class?” Buck said with a sense of humor lingering in his voice. “Well, you’re not on mission all that often, and this is quite a bulky arm. Ever think about getting one that’s your skin colour, lighter weight, more, I don’t know, arm like. Less hydra murdery vibes. Help get rid of that, that time.” “I have…” “So can I make it?” Peter said excitedly. “You mean it?” “Of course Uncle Buck! No clue why dad hasn’t offered before!” “Guess he never thought of it. Maybe thought I liked the scary metal thing,” he suggested weakly. “Well that’s stupid,” Peter said casually. Bucky never understood how the kid could be so compassionate so easily. “Thanks. Really.” “No worries. I’ve been looking for a new project to throw myself into. It'll be fun. And as much as I hate to admit it, I need to work on my smaller scale mechanical work.” All Bucky could do was smile his beaming smile. “Bucky!” the voice of the Black Widow shouted. “Hey Nat,” Buck replied. “Wanna train?” she asked. “As much as I want to,” he said, pointing towards the area his arm would have been. “Oh, what happened this time?” “Nothing to major, some gears and wires,” Peter filled it, “Give me twenty minutes I’ll be done.” He’d already opened the arm and gotten to the section where the wires were screwed up. “DAN-E get me the soldering kit, please,” he asked the robot, “Oh and some new T6YU wires. Red and purple.” The robot gave a vaguely human nod. “Right, I'll be waiting. Test the adjustments out on me?” She suggested. “Alright,” Buck said. “Oh and I’m in charge of ordering food. What do you want?” “Burgers?” “You boring, bland little boy,” Nat scolded. “Thai?” Buck requested. They looked over to Peter, “Sure, yeah.” Nat headed out, greeting Tony with a “Hey Stank” on the stairs out of his lab. “Yours is so much smarter than mine, why is yours so much smarter than mine,” Tony fake (real) whined. “I’m the superior mechanic, father, deal with it.” DAN-E, almosting proving his point, dropped the materials on his desk, and he continued to work. “I’m donating DUM-E,” Tony glared at him, “What happened to the arm Buck?” “Stiff fingers isall.” “Oh, ok. Pete, need a hand?” “Nah, I’m good. Not much to do. Some wires got fucked up, just replacing them now. Going to look at the minigears in the palm too, just to make sure the oil regulation and gear’s aren't broken. I think one of the gears is, but it's one of them that's easy to replace,” Peter replied, not looking up from his work. “Right, sounds good. Your pops and I are going out for the night. Be back around 12 let’s say.” “Cool. Can I borrow some vibranium from your lab?” “Sure thing kiddo. Call us if you need anything. Fri, give Peter access to vault B3 in my lab.” “Thanks,” Peter smiled. “Anytime. Good luck with ya know.” “Shouldn’t he ask you what you're going to do with a substance that costs 10,000$ a gram?” “Something about trusting me.” “Parents trust their kids with going out later or or doing their homework not fucking multimillions of dollars.” “Uncle Bucky, my parents are Iron Man and Captain America. There was never a shot at normal.” “Fair enough.”
Peter finished up the adjustment on the arm by changing a gear. “Thanks a lot kid.” “Of course. I’m going to work on your new arm now.” “Alrighty, I’ll get out of your way.” “Oh could you ask Auntie Nat what time she’s ordering dinner for? So I know when to head up, just get Fri to tell me.” “Will do.” “Thanks.”
So Peter was left to making some blueprints and drinking many red bulls. The red bull mini-fridge was actually a gift from Shuri, and his fathers had many words with him about it. He managed to convince them that he should keep it, god knows how. Well, he used the whole Princess of Wakanda and making peace and Stark Industries relationship with Wakandan products and companies as well as international relations and blah blah. It worked, who cares.
After a few hours he was called up for dinner, and he sat there and enjoyed the absolute chaos of his family.

Friday Night by: mldrgrl Rating: PG Note: Set during season 10, erasing any season 11 from the table
Fridays are full of anticipation nowadays.  At first, when they were just starting to get back on track, more often than not he was going home alone.  But, now, he can’t remember the last time Friday rolled around and she didn’t have her weekend bag with her.  There’s nothing he looks forward to more than a Friday night.
They take one car out to the house, usually his, leaving the other in the parking garage at work until Monday.  The ride is long, but comfortable.  Scully rests her hand on his arm across the seat and they talk about mundane things that aren’t about work.  Mulder wants to cut the grass if there isn’t any frost in the morning.  He loaded the crock pot with the stuff for that stew Scully likes this morning.  Hopefully he remembered to turn it on before he left.  That new thing Scully found online to weatherproof the windows came in.  He needs to put in the order for the wood for the stove to be delivered soon.
“An hour and change,” Mulder says, stopping the car in front of their gate.  “New record.”
“You really need to think about installing the remote.”
“I like the exercise.”  He leans close to her as he unbuckles his seatbelt and gives her a peck on the cheek.  She cups his chin with a backwards hand for a moment and then unbuckles her own belt.
Scully takes over in the driver’s seat as Mulder handles the gate.  She drives down the dirt road slowly, avoiding the dips and bumps up to the front.  She’s got her overnight bag from the trunk and Mulder’s dry cleaning that they stopped to pick up weighing her down by the time he’s made it to the car.  He takes the dry cleaning from her and places a hand to the small of her back as they ascend the porch steps.
“My nose is telling me I didn’t forget to turn the crock pot on,” he says, opening the door for her.
“Gonna change first.  Looks like we’re in for a beautiful sunset.  Want to eat outside?”
“Sure.”
He puts the dry cleaning away while she puts on a pair of sweats and a long-sleeved shirt.  He turns on the radio.  It’s still on the classical channel Scully last had it on and he leaves it be, coming into what sounds like The Planets Suite.  He thinks he recognizes Jupiter.  He thinks about setting up the telescope.
While Scully dishes out the stew, he changes into jeans and a light sweater.  Noticing a bit of a chill, he brings one of the blankets from the couch with him after he grabs the bowl left for him on the counter to join her.  She tucks it around her and they eat to the strains of Holst in the background as twilight begins its takeover.
They head back inside when it turns grey and too chilly.  Scully separates the leftover stew into two containers, one to store for leftovers for the weekend and the other to freeze for later.  She washes the dishes and Mulder dries.
“Did you bring the paper in?” he asks.
“In my bag,” she answers.
“We need under 36 minutes to beat last week.”
“36 minutes and 14 seconds.”
“Across or down?”
“Down.”
They huddle close on the couch and Mulder opens the newspaper to the crossword.  He folds it appropriately while Scully starts the timer on her phone.  Mulder starts with the clues running across and Scully starts with the clues running down.  They have a goal of beating each week’s previous time.
“Oh, they’re being cheeky,” Mulder says.  “They’ve got the question marks in here.”
“You like the cheeky ones.”
“When they’re clever.”
After ten minutes, they switch directions.
“Life source?” Scully asks.  “Is that the cheeky one?”
“You get the answer?”
“M-I-blank-blank-blank-N-blank-R-A-”
“Milton Bradley,” he answers, before she finishes.
“Clever or not?” she asks, filling in the blanks.
“They’ve done better.  Hey, you’re supposed to fill-in all the Latin clues.”
“Mulder, do you know how many 3-letter Latin 101 words there are?”
“How many end in O?”
“Too many.”
“I think it starts with an E.”
“Ego.”
“I should’ve known that.”
“I’ll say.”
He bumps her shoulder with his and she chuckles.  They switch for a second time a few minutes later and then they’re racing against the clock.  He puts down his pen when there’s nothing but a corner left.
“You always leave the Tolkein monsters clue blank,” Scully huffs.
“I didn’t have 5 down yet, it still could be orcs or ents.”
“Ents.  5 down is Etsy.”
“What the hell is an etsy?”
“Online craft store.  You know it, it’s where I got those bath bombs you liked.”
“The eucalyptus ones?  You should get more of those.”
“I’ll see if they still have them.  Time!”
“33 and 51 seconds.  High five g-woman!”  He grabs her hand when she slaps his and laces their fingers together.  “Seriously, though, you need to go to the etsy store and get more of those bath bombs.”
“Remind me tomorrow.”
“Movie?”
“I’m thinking a shower and then bed.”  She moves to stand, but he pulls her down to his lap.  She chuckles and drapes her arms around his neck.
“Scully, do you remember back in the day when we used to pull all-nighters like it was nothing and now we’re lucky if we make it past nine?”
“Seems we used up all our reserve energy when we were young.”
“Younger, don’t go calling us old.”
“You brought it up first.”  She gives him a brief kiss on the lips and then he lets her go.
While she showers, he takes the newspaper to the recycle bin and sets up the coffee maker for the morning.  He checks the locks on the front door and the back door and pulls the shades in the living room and kitchen.  He pulls his sweater off as he heads upstairs and tosses it on the bed before he goes into the bathroom.  Scully has finished her shower and sits on the closed toilet in a towel, massaging lotion into her legs.  The room is humid from the shower and the mirror is fogged over.
“I set the coffee for 7,” he says, pulling his toothbrush and toothpaste from the medicine cabinet. “Too early?”
“It’s fine.”   She makes a noise and he turns.  She has her hands held out to him and he puts the toothbrush and toothpaste on the side of the sink and gives her his hands so she can massage the extra lotion into his hands and arms.
“Is this new?  It smells like oranges.”
“Yeah, some vitamin C thing a salesperson at the mall talked me into.”
“You hate the mall.”  He pastes his toothbrush and starts brushing his teeth.
“I do, but sometimes the Labor Day sales are too hard to resist.  2 for 1 bras at Victoria’s Secret, I had to go.”
“What, now?”  Mulder turns towards her and pulls the toothbrush out of his mouth.  Foam coats his lips.  She laughs lightly and shakes her head.
“Kidding,” she says.  “But, good to know you’re still interested in my lingerie.”
“I might be old, but I’m not dead.”
Scully smiles and stands on tiptoes to kiss the corner of Mulder’s mouth.  She pats his chest lightly and then rubs a bit of toothpaste residue from her bottom lip.  He turns to finish brushing his teeth, wiping fog away from the mirror to watch her move comfortably around the room and get ready for bed.  He waits until she’s dropped the towel and slipped her t-shirt on to spit and rinse.
She tosses his shirt at his head when he steps into the bedroom.  He grins and hangs it up and then they turn the bed down together.  He sheds his jeans and then opens the window just a crack to let some fresh air in.
“Almost time to pull out the flannel sheets,” she says, as he gets into bed.
“I’ll keep you warm,” he answers, wrapping an arm around her under the covers and sliding her into his chest.  She laughs and wiggles out of his hold as he tickles the back of her neck and shoulder with his lips.
Briefly, Scully turns her head back and after several soft kisses, she pulls away to turn over and shut off the lamp.  Mulder rolls onto his back and she settles on her side after punching the pillow flat a few times.  Five minutes pass and then she sighs.
“Are you still awake?” she asks.
“Mmhm,” he answers.
She turns over to face him and he turns his head towards her.  “I’ve been thinking about something,” she says.  “Something I think we need to talk about.”
“Okay.”  He turns over as well and folds his arm under his head.
“The lease on my place is up at the end of October.  I don’t think I’m going to renew.”
“Oh?  So, what are you thinking?”
“The commute out here is not ideal.  Especially with winter coming.  I was wondering if you might want to find a place in the city.  Or closer to the city.  Together.”
“Get rid of the house?”
“No, never.  This is...this is our home.”
He nods in agreement.  He’s always thought of it as their home, whether she’s been in it or not.
“I was thinking just a place we can be at during the week,” she continues.  “And we’ll still come out here on the weekends.”
He mulls it over.  As much as he wants to be with her and wants to return to the life they once shared, he has some reservations.
“Mulder?” she asks.  “You’re never this quiet.  What are you thinking?”
“You know I want this more than anything,” he answers.  “But, what if this is only working because you got the space you wanted?  And we’ve never done the living and working together thing before.  It would be new.  What if we recommit and then it becomes too much?”
She contemplates the ceiling for some time and he reaches out to stroke her hair and cup her cheek.
“I thought, at the time, that leaving was the right thing to do,” she says.  “I know that I accused you of being a weight that was pulling me down into your depression and despair, but in hindsight, it was the other way around.”
“I never felt that way.”
“I know, but I did.  I thought returning to medicine would be satisfying.  I thought it was the key to happiness.  Something normal.  Instead it just made me sad.  And then I thought leaving was the only way to fix it, but I was wrong.  Really, what I missed was us.  Being with you, working with you, just you and me.  I don’t feel whole without you.”
“Hey now, that’s my line,” he whispers, running his thumb over her cheek.
“It’s true.”
“So, we’re doing this?  Full time?”
“I’m ready for it if you are.”
“Bring it on, honey.”
She chuckles and they slide closer to rest their heads together.  Their legs tangle and arms move to hold on to each other.  He’s filled with a new sense of anticipation.  He won’t ever have to wonder anymore if she’ll be coming with him Friday nights.

Friday the 13th Part IV: The Final Chapter ( 1984)
Did You Know?👇👇👇👇🤔
The strange dance which Jimbo performs at the party was contributed by actor Crispin Glover and was based on the eccentric way he actually danced in clubs. On the set he was dancing to "Back in Black" by AC/DC as the scene was filmed. In the film however an edited version of "Love Is a Lie" by Lion was dubbed into the scene.
Last film in the series to pick up immediately where the previous film left off. At 58 years old at the time Ted White is the oldest stuntman/actor to portray Jason Voorhees. On a budget of $1,800,000 the film made $32,600,000 at the box office.
At the time, this installment of the series contained the most nudity and gore. The film was released on Friday the 13th: April 13, 1984.
In Turkey, this film, and the next sequel, Friday the 13th V: A New Beginning (1985), were released at the same time. People could watch both films back to back. Even the posters for both movies were displayed next to each other.
(at around 1h 2 mins) In one scene, Rob talks to Trish about his sister, Sandra. Sandra was one of Jason's victims in Friday the 13th - Part II (1981).
(at around 10 mins) The workout video Axel watches is Aerobicise (1982). It stars Darcy DeMoss who went on to have a role in Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives (1986).
This is the only film in the series to shoot new footage using sets and locations from a previous film. The beginning takes place on the set of Friday the 13th - Part III (1982), before moving to a new location.
Director Joseph Zito was opposed to using clips from previous installments at the beginning of the film.
(at around 9 mins) The nurse's name tag reads "R. Morgan, RN," an homage to actress Robbi Morgan, who played Annie in Friday the 13th (1980).
During filming Kimberly Beck, who plays Trish, experienced strange occurrences including a man watching her while she ran in the park and strange phone calls at all hours. This stopped when production was over.
Though he disliked being involved with the film, Ted White is considered by many fans to be one of the best Jasons.
(at around 9 mins) The moment where Jason's hand moves in the morgue was done by Ted White after Joseph Zito had called cut on the scene. However, the camera was still rolling, and caught this movement, and it was included in the film.
Writer Barney Cohen originally wrote a scene involving Jason fondling Trish's breasts but the producers vetoed it. Director Joseph Zito also disliked the scene because it made Jason seem too human and less menacing. The scene was excised.
Joseph Zito had previously directed The Prowler (1981), but they wanted him to both direct AND write Friday the 13th Part 4. He said, "But I'm not a writer," to which they said, "Here's a contract paying you double to write and direct," and then he responded, "Yeah, I'm totally a writer." Zito used the extra salary to hire Barney Cohen to somewhat secretly write the script. Their process entailed Zito taking nightly one-hour phone calls with Phil Scuderi to discuss the story and script for Final Chapter. The next day Zito would meet Cohen in an apartment in New York to relay what notes and ideas Scuderi had offered, which they would then turn into new script pages to be sent later that day to Scuderi in Boston to be discussed again over the phone that night.
Camilla More actually read for the role of Samantha, but when the producers discovered she had a twin, they offered both sisters the roles of Tina and Terri.
It is played for humor throughout Final Chapter that young Tommy Jarvis (Feldman) is suddenly surrounded by horny teenagers renting a cabin he can see into from his own house. However, the reality of the situation is that those actresses were indeed very or partially naked, and Corey Feldman was still young enough that Erich Anderson and Kimberly Beck took him trick-or-treating the first day of filming since it happened to be October 31, 1983. So, they shielded 12-year-old Feldman from most of the bad stuff, using tricky editing when necessary. What they could not control was the power of a low-cut top sans bra underneath. According to Feldman, in the scene in which Jodie Aronson's character bends over to greet Tommy's dog unbeknownst to anyone but Feldman he could see down her low-cut top.
It has been suggested that the only reasons Tom Savini worked as make-up artist on this film was in order that he could accurately age and properly kill the character he created from the first film.
Barbara Howard used a body double for her shower sex scene.
After Jason actor Ted White finished his scenes for this film, he immediately started work on Starman (1984). While on set for the night's filming, a group of reporters were waiting to interview Jeff Bridges, but he was unavailable. Therefore, director, John Carpenter, told the reporters to talk to White about the film he had recently finished. After telling the reporters he had just finished playing Jason in the latest Friday the 13th film, the next day's article was entirely about him, and that night, numerous "Friday" fans arrived at the set solely in order to see White.
Jason actor Ted White and special effects artist Tom Savini at first were confrontational with one another. But once White found out Savini had experience with stunts, the two became friends.
Rob was originally supposed to have high-tech equipment which he had used to track Jason, but the props for this looked cheap, and the idea was scrapped.
The film takes place on Sunday the 15th and beyond which makes it the second "Friday" film not to actually take place on a Friday at all. While the beginning with the coroners takes place during the night of Sunday the 15th, the rest of the film takes place on Monday the 16th, with Tuesday the 17th being the climactic night.
Even though he plays her son, Ted White (Jason Voorhees) is actually 11 months older than Betsy Palmer (Pamela Voorhees).
Rather than making masks, Tommy was originally going to have been an inventor. One of his projects was a device made from a microwave oven, which would have been what he used to kill Jason. Some of this is seen in the final product in a scene where he helps repair a car.
Amy Steel talked Peter Barton into doing the film. By the time the Final Chapter offer came around Matthew Star was off the air, and Barton wanted no part of horror films, having hated working on Hell Night in 1981. Amy Steel somehow talked him into it, selling him on the notoriety of starring in the final Friday the 13th film.
Director Joseph Zito wanted Jason's hockey mask to explode apart in the opening credits, but there was not enough time in post-production to pull off this gag.
Paramount was originally going to release the film in October, 1984. After filming wrapped in January Paramount studio head Frank Mancuso Sr. screened footage of the film to much enthusiasm. After a window opened up the release date was changed to April upon confirmation from Joseph Zito that he could complete the film faster than planned. This led to Zito, producer Frank Mancuso Jr., and a crew of editors essentially remaining locked in a house in Malibu editing around the clock in order to finish the film on time. This marked one of the only times that Paramount actively helped in the production of a Friday the 13th film, as they were generally produced independently, with the studio only handling marketing and distribution.
The house used for the Jarvis home was later used as the Anderson home in the film Ed Gein (2000) where serial killer Ed Gein is apprehended.
Bonnie Hellman's agents told her about a possible role in this film - the hitchhiker - but then told her that she would not want to do it, as there were no lines. However, she ended up taking the role anyway.
Kimberly Beck stated in the Crystal Lake Memories book that she does not like the horror genre. In addition to this, she also said that she feels this film was not even a B-movie, but rather a C-movie.
Distinguished film critic Roger Ebert called this film "an immoral and reprehensible piece of trash."
The Jarvis family's dog, Gordon, was named after a recently deceased dog which a friend of director Joseph Zito owned.
Peter Barton was talked into taking a role in this film by his The Powers of Matthew Star (1982) co-star Amy Steel who played Ginny in Friday the 13th - Part II (1981).
The female hitchhiker was called "Fat Girl" in the original draft of the script.
The poster shows the hockey mask with a knife on its left eyesocket. Jason is defeated with a machete going through his left eye.
Kimberly Beck is the only Friday the 13th actress that appeared in an Alfred Hitchcock film. She worked on Marnie (1964), exactly 20 years prior to this. She plays the little girl that Marnie's mother babysits.
The film was shot entirely in California.
Carey More's audition was to simply read one line.
Lisa Freeman, who played Nurse Morgan, and Crispin Glover, who played Jimmy Mortimer, both would go on to be in the Back To The Future movies. Crispin Glover played George McFly in Back to the Future (1985) and Lisa Freeman played Babs in Back to the Future (1985) and Back to Future, part II (1989).
(at around 20 mins) The Jarvis family sandwich hug was based on a group hug that screenwriter Barney Cohen's family did.
Jason's death won the Golden Chainsaw Award in Dead Meat's "Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter" kill count.
This is considered by many fans, to be the best and most popular Friday the 13th film.
The Jarvis family car is a 1970 Dodge Polara.
Rob's rifle is a Winchester Model 70.
Rob looks to be the main male hero of the film to work alongside Final Girl Trish. Instead he dies almost immediately after encountering Jason, with the real Final Guy of the film being Tommy
The ambulance driver played by Antony Ponzini & Axel and the coroner played by Bruce Mahler both appeared on the sitcom Seinfled. Ponzini as Jerry's barber Enzo and Mahler as the Rabbi in Elaine's building.
Was released in theaters, directly a week before Crispin Glover's (Jimmy) 20th birthday.
Tracy Jarvis' fate and death would have been more further explained in a deleted scene that had been cut from the film. An alternate ending to the film, included in the 2009 Deluxe Edition DVD, shows a dream sequence where Trish and Tommy wake up the next morning after killing Jason to the sound of police sirens. Trish sends Tommy to summon the police who have arrived next door. At that point she notices water dripping from the ceiling and goes to investigate. She enters the upstairs bathroom, and finds the body of her mother floating in a tub full of bloody water. Trish lifts her mother out of the tub, prompting Tracy's eyes to open, revealing them to be solid white and devoid of irises. Jason suddenly appears from behind the bathroom door and prepares to attack Trish. Trish then suddenly wakes up in the hospital in a scene reminiscent of the ending of the first movie.
Ted White was uncredited as Jason Voorhees by his own request.
The twins are played by real life sisters Camilla and Carey More, who both also appeared on the daytime soap opera Days of our Lives as Gillian and Grace Forrester. More stars from the soap DAYS also appear in further Friday The 13th sequels like Renee Jones in Part 6, and Kevin Spirtas and Staci Greason in Part 7. Other soap stars that appeared in Friday The 13th films include Kevin Bacon, Russell Todd, Lauren Marie Taylor, Dana Kimmell, Kimberly Beck, Peter Barton, Jennifer Cooke, Michael Swan, and Scott Reeves.
Paul's car is a 1973 Chevrolet Caprice Estate station wagon.
According to Ted White, he and director Joseph Zito did not get along very well during filming.
The actress playing Trish's mother was only 14 years and 1 day older than her.
Both Corey Feldman and Crispin Glover later appeared in different films with actor Kiefer Sutherland in the same year: Feldman in Stand by Me (1986) and Glover in At Close Range (1986).
Pamela Voorhees' first name appears on a tombstone.
