Do I love Severus Snape, the character from the HP series, with all my heart? Yes.
Have some of my artistic endeavors and most of my headcanons featuring him gone completely off the fucking rails to the point where I should just create original characters and stories for all my bs? Also yes.
(But is it not the very point of transformative work to explore things outside of canon in order to engage with its themes on our own terms? Perhaps my feelings about my fan work being an inadequate outlet are actually the tension between my fear of producing wholly original work without any outside demands to constrain me, the false (but hard-to-shake) belief that fandom is infantile and therefore my work here has no actual value, and my discomfort with being a fan of HP despite its many problems.
Will I keep using Severus Snape as my muse because I have found a sense of community in the Snapedom and I just feel like it right now? You betcha.

500 Queer Scientists raises the visibility of queer and transgender people in science and technology
500 Queer Scientists is a  visibility campaign for LGBTQ+ people and their allies working in STEM and STEM-supporting jobs (STEM as in “Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics”).
So far they have been publishing 1,317 stories.
Since this is a transgender blog, I take the liberty of sharing some nonbinary and transgender life stories here.

L.K. Tuominen
He/him, they/them, or s/he/hir
I’m transgender and pansexual and I’m a botanist.
My main research interest is in plant secondary metabolism. I have contributed to research on growing food during spaceflight, defense and cell wall pathways in a biofuels crop, and (in my current postdoctoral position) adaptation of desert plants to challenging soil conditions. I have also completed training in environmental ethics, applied in ecological modeling research. After completing the PhD, I took a five-year career detour for my transition....Beyond creating transgender- and intersex-informed biology content, I have led workshops on creative career problem solving for scientists and developed a course exploring how science has both reinforced and disproven racist ideas over time.

They/Them, Ze/Zir
I am transgender/ genderqueer/ queer and I am a neuroscientist.
I am a postdoctoral fellow and neuroscientist at the University of Washington. I seek to understand the cellular, molecular, and genetic mechanisms underlying chronic stress and depression. I volunteer with the Pacific Science Center sharing my love of science with the public, and at Ingersoll Gender Center in support of the transgender community. Additionally, I lead projects to provide medical providers early career training on how to provide better medical services for LGBTQ patients. My passion for science and the brain developed while seeking explanations for my gender dysphoria...

They/Them
I am queer, genderqueer, transgender and I am a PhD candidate in evolutionary biology.
I fell in love with science through pursuing my insatiable curiosity about the world around me, flipping over rocks to look for salamanders and cataloging the texture of different leaves in my backyard. As a biology major in college, I decided to commit myself to studying plants because of their incredible plasticity, resilience, and generosity in the face of stress, disturbance, and environmental change. My graduate work focuses on local adaptation to environmental stress in a widely distributed species of wild grass. Through studying ecological variation, I’ve come to see myself as more deeply a part of our worlds incredible biodiversity as someone who is other, neither, and both male and female...

I am trans and I am a mechanistic organometallic chemist.
I am a queer, trans chemistry professor at the Keck Science Department of Claremont McKenna, Pitzer, and Scripps Colleges in southern California. My primary research interests are in the field of mechanistic organometallic chemistry, specifically studying C-H and C-C oxidative addition/reductive elimination at platinum centers. I teach classes ranging from first year seminar courses to inorganic chemistry. I have been a membership of the Leadership Council of IONiC, the Interactive Online Network of Inorganic Chemists since its founding. I’m a proud member of the greater Los Angeles transgender community and of the Trans Chorus of Los Angeles.

He/Him
I am trans and I am a geographer.
I am a transgender man, a mom, a husband, and an enthusiastic geography geek who is working on my 30th year at a federal science agency. I came to realize who I was late in life, and transitioned at work. For the most part, it was successful. There were a number of bumps in the road which would have been rectified had there been someone who had gone before me to show me how to stay safe, advocate for myself, and continue to stay enthusiastic about my work. I feel that I am now that person, and am still excited to be a geographer! ...

I want to write a Happy doctor who fic lmao all of my ideas are lowkey or not so lowkey depressing . Artist au has gotta be happy right? 13 is sad but she has so many people who love her!! Is she adopted? Siblings? I love it when 10 & 11 & 13 are siblings but it would be fun if 9 was their sibling too bc everyone is like oooh he’s so cool n goofy look at this big eared man he’s got kind eyes. They’re all adopted, I think by maybe 12 & his partner. Maybe sarah jane? Just. An extremely intense & clever & compassionate pair who have a lot of love to give. 12 & 13 are quite similar (in this fic, since I haven’t watched 12s seasons). 9 is named… Nathan/Nate. He likes his leather jacket & saving lives, he’s a paramedic & often takes breaks to go travelling. He’s caused probably 8% of 12s grey hairs. 10 is named… John I think is necessary, that’s the name he used. He’s got a fondness for pinstripe & his long trench coat. He’s a professor, an art teacher & therefore is very close to 13 bc they’re an artist & art restorer & so they often studied together & far more often used to argue together. 11 is goofy, gangly, excitable. He’s close to 13 as well bc they’re both genderqueer - he/they to 13s she/they. They share bow ties. They share braces. She’s shorter than him otherwise they would also share clothes. Some clothes. 11 is more proper (trousers n blazers) to 13s overalls or flannels or printed tees or goofy short shorts. They also share a birthday but not the same year - he’s a year older but it’s very cool to both of them that they share the day & just pretend that they’re twins. 11 is a perpetual student, studying heaps. He also has this secret job 13 thinks for like??? space science or smth??? Like he does engineering or maths or smth in secret which is WILD.
13 is a sculptor. the baby of the family. Fairly well off, after having many jobs through teen years & uni & renting the smallest cheapest place with a bunch of other art friends, a lot of dumpster diving & hunting through the tip for pieces for her artwork. Plus an inheritance they haven’t touched. Who does 13 live/work with? Donna Noble I think for sure. The most ordinary & brilliant person in the world, I think she rents the house out to 13. It’s like a duplex situation I think? 13 has a shed out the back that is their sculpture workshop (she had to promise Donna not to mess up the house after all). They have a door that lets them between the houses that isn’t locked but largely respected—they’ve been neighbours forever, & often eat a meal together at least every couple of days.
I think she has a few flatmates. Jack and Clara maybe? Clara works for 12 at idk a law firm maybe. Jack is a pilot & is often away flying, his routine fairly flexible.

Harry Potter logyn
I’m so sorry Anon, I have zero idea how many years ago this prompt was sent, because it has almost definitely been years, but I just skimmed past this ask today and honestly can’t remember seeing it before… But let’s not dwell on that - I wrote 1400 words in one (5hr) sitting. Go me.
And yes, I know we may not be loving a certain author right now, but I may have also made Sigyn trans, for certain reasons.
I also made Loki genderqueer using they/them pronouns. I usually write Loki as he/him and kept reverting back to that as I wrote, so if I missed any in editing I apologise.
Transfiguration
Loki had hated almost every minute of their last five yearsat Hogwart’s, and considering they’d gotten detention their first week back, theirsixth year wasn’t shaping up to be any better.
It started when they’d been sorted into Ravenclaw, which wasboth a blessing and a curse. It rankled them that they hadn’t been sorted intoGryffindor like their adopted brother, Odin’s golden child, Thor. And they were somewhat ashamed to know they weren’t worthy enough (pure bloodedenough) to have been sorted into Slytherin like their half-brothers Helblindiand Býleistr, who had thankfully graduated by the time Loki had entered their thirdyear.
All them of them were assholes who ignored Loki at best or knockedthem off their broom during a quidditch match, breaking their arm in threeplaces, at worst (Odin had sent a raven congratulating Thor on his victory).
But being sorted into Ravenclaw, as much as it made Lokifeel lesser than their brothers, at least allowed them some time away from them.Things might have been better if Loki had managed to make some close friends, rather than just the occasional study buddy/academic rival. And it might haveall been tolerable if only Frigga was still alive to remind them of theirworth.
The arrival of the perpetually grim Professor Snape pulled Lokifrom their depressing musings. It also brought the presence of another student to Loki’s attention as she filed in behind Snape andquickly took a seat.
“You were almost late, Ms Anderson.”
“Sorry Professor. I got lost,” the Hufflepuff girl admitted bashfully with light eastern European accent. “The stairs at Durmstrang don’t move.”
“You’re not in Durmstrang anymore, so I suggest you get usedto it. Quickly.”
Loki bristled at Snape’s tone but kept their mouth shut. Onedetention their first week back was more than enough.
“Now, for the rest of the evening, for however long ittakes, the two of you will be returning these old textbooks and reference booksto the library and reshelving them for Madam Pince – without the aid of magic,”he intoned, gesturing at a small bookshelf crammed full of books.
Loki didn’t give him the satisfaction of groaning.
“What is it Ms Anderson?”
“I’m sorry, professor, but… where’s the library?”
Snape sighed. “I’m sure Mr Borson can show you. I want thisbookshelf empty before my first class in the morning.”
Loki glared at Snape’s retreating back before turning it onthe pile of books. When the sound of Snape’s footsteps finally faded, only thendid Loki get out of their seat. They put together a stack of books, as tall as theydared carry, and almost lost them all when they turned right into Ms Anderson.
“Watch it,” they hissed, stabilising their books.
“Sorry,” the girl muttered as she ducked behind Loki to graba stack of books almost as tall as theirs.
“Come on,” they groused, leading the girl away from the dank Potions classroom.
Halfway to the library Loki broke and attempted to makeconversation with the new girl.
“What was your name?” they asked, loathed as they were tocontinue using the same name Snape called her.
“Sigyn,” she puffed as she tried to keep pace with Loki. “Yours?”
“Loki. I don’t think I’ve heard of a student transferring infrom another school before. It’s quite unusual.”
“There were unusual circumstances,” she replied vaguely.Loki was intrigued didn’t think she’d be more forthcoming if they pushed.
Silence fell between until they reached the library. Loki, ignoringMadam Pince’s stern gaze, led them over to the Potions section. They stared atthe two stacks of books now sitting in front of them and thought about thebooks still waiting to be collected.
“What do you think about us splitting up? I’ll got getanother batch of books while you shelve, then we can trade on and off until weshelve the last of the books together? Might be faster.”
“Okay,” she agreed.
“Can you figure it out?” they asked, gesturing towards theshelves.
Sigyn rolled her eyes. “Yes. They have libraries atDurmstrang, you know.”
“Did they now,” Loki teased before racing off back to the Potionsclassroom.
Within forty minutes they had ferried all of the books overand only had a dozen or so left to shelve. It was then, as they stood in closequarters, that Sigyn made her own attempts at conversation.
“So… what are you in detention for?”
“The usual; talking back to Snape. I kept telling him to usemy preferred pronouns – or “your majesty” if “they” was too hard for him - andhe kept insisting on being an ass.”
“Pronouns?” Sigyn asked with no hint of revulsion, onlycuriosity.
“Mm… They/Them. I consider myself genderqueer. And thisstupid school won’t let me wear makeup, or a skirt under my robes, you’d thinkthe least they could do is respect my pronouns. Most professors and students doit without making a fuss, but some people,” they growled, shoving a book ratherforcibly onto the shelf, “just like to be assholes.”
Sigyn was quiet for a moment, her eyes flicking between Lokiand the book in her hand.
“I’m trans,” she admitted. “Durmstrang and my mother wouldonly accept me as a boy, so my father moved us to Ireland and arranged for meto transfer to Hogwarts. So now I get to be Sigyn,” she added with a softsmile.
“Is that why you’re in detention? Did Snape give you shitfor being trans?”
“What? Oh, no,” she said with a shake of her head. “I don’tthink he knows – only Professor Dumbledore and Madam Pomfrey had to beinformed, as far as my father told me.”
“Huh… one point for Hogwarts,” Loki muttered. “Then what didyou do to get detention?”
“I punched someone,” Sigyn blushed. “There was this 7thyear boy and his friends casting some sort of wind spell to blow girls’ skirtsup as they walked passed. All the girls were mortified and the boys thought itwas great fun. When he tried to do it to me, I walked right over to him andpunched him in the nose.”
Loki had a feeling they knew who would do something sorepugnant and looked downright gleeful at the thought of him getting some comeuppance.
“Who did you punch?”
“Um… I think his name was… Thot?”
Loki laughed so loud it drew the ire of Madam Pince.
“Sorry,” they called back, not remorseful in the least. “Thor,”they corrected.
“You know him?”
“Regrettably. He is my brother. Adopted.”
“You needn’t get defensive,” Sigyn smiled as she slotted thelast book into place. “So far I think you have little in common with such abrute.”
Loki smiled back. “So… all finished. Do you think you canfind your way back to your dormitory from here?”
Sigyn winced. Loki chuckled.
“Come on, I’ll show you.”
“Don’t make fun of me,” she pouted as she followed him outof the library. “Durmstrang was not as large as this place, and the layout mademuch more sense.”
“You’ll figure it out eventually,” he smirked. “What yearare you in?”
“Sixth.”
“Really? Me too. I don’t think I’ve seen you around though.”
It turned out that they were both taking Charms, Herbology, and Defence Against the Dark Arts, but Sigyn’s Herbology class and Loki’sPotion’s class caused a scheduling conflict so they would rarely be in the sameclasses on the same days. But they would be both be taking the sameTransfiguration class, they happily discovered, first up the very next morning.
“I’ll see you then,” Loki said as they brought her to thestairwell that would lead down to the Hufflepuff dormitories. “Presuming youdon’t get lost.”
“I’ll try not to,” she smiled bashfully before wishing Lokigoodnight with a kiss on the cheek.
Loki waited until Sigyn was out of sight before making theirway back to Ravenclaw Tower. They couldn’t stop smiling. In less than an hourthey’d found a new study buddy, quite possibly made a new friend, and maybe, ifthe way Sigyn blushed when she kissed them meant anything, they might just finishthe term with a girlfriend who liked them just as they are.

Dominion Headcanons
What people would think to learn that when I first wrote a fanfic Damar had to appear in, I nearly wrote him as a woman because it bothers me so much that we got the most generic depressed Cardassian guy ever as the resistance leader instead of Professor Natima Lang... and that the main reason I didn’t ultimately choose to do this wasn’t because it might confuse my readers, but instead because I figured no woman would ever be able to work that closely with Gul Dukat! XD Instead, I decided Damar just realizes he’s genderqueer later... being a male Cardassian with engineering skills is a sign lol  I also choose to write Breen as if their civilization has no concept of gender, and think the Founder Leader only looks the way she does and uses she/her pronouns because she wanted to prey on Odo’s longing for Kira and for a people. Weyoun I write as genderfluid (I imagine he had female clones in the past, too... I mean, why not?) and I imagine the Founders just order all Vorta to claim to be whatever gender foreign dignitaries assume them to be.

Things That Are True
and that psychological trauma, depression, and anxiety have told me are just me thinking I’m “special” when really I am nothing:
1.) I write beautiful poetry.
2.) I sing beautifully.  Multiple people have told me they cried or got goosebumps when I sang.
3.) I am an excellent knitter who could start a business doing it right now if I wanted to (well, not RIGHT now as I’m a noodle, but you get the idea)
4.) I am loved so hard by so many people.  My family and friends would go to the ends of the earth for me because I am a radiant human and I deserve it.
5.) I have synesthesia, like almost every form of it, constantly.
6.) I have severe mental illness that has disabled me.
7.) I am genderqueer.
8.) I can talk to animals. (via body language and tone)
9.) I can talk to my plants to figure out what they are needing.
10.) My dog and I are so in tune she anticipates my panic attacks with no training whatsoever.  I am an excellent dog mom. We are saving each other.
11.) I am very attractive to many people of all genders.
12.) I think I might be a concertina savant as I started playing it regularly in January and now in May it already feels like I can hear a melody in my head and it comes out of my fingers on the instrument. It feels as easy as singing or talking.
13.) I can arrange a shape note song in an afternoon.
14.) I’m wicked smart and resourceful.
15.) I am hilarious and witty
16.) I have changed people’s lives by being compassionate and listening to them.  In the psych ward I spent about an hour just talking and coloring with the youngest patient there by far (she was 19 and I was the next youngest at 30) and she said I got her to open up more than she had since she got there.  I often can just sense what people need to hear.
17.) I saved my brother’s life.  He needed to go to the hospital for a bad depressive episode but he was so scared because his previous hospitalization was so traumatic for him.  The strictly controlled environment is incredibly stressful for him.  I talked to him on the phone, talked him through why he needed to go, and stayed on the phone with him until he was literally getting in the Uber.  If I hadn’t done that, he would not have gone to the hospital.
18.) Overall I am a very good writer.  One of my college math professors said my senior honors project was better than most writing he sees from his peers.
19.) I am wise and people respect my opinion because of that, and because I treat all people with respect.
20.) I was bullied when I was a very small child.  This is on the list because I had so little self-worth that I didn’t even recognized I was bullied.  I just thought I deserved it.  I didn’t know it was bullying until I was 27 and my therapist told me.
21.) My presence is a gift to everyone on this earth.

Why I Do What I Do, Part 2: Every Good Writer Reads
When I was little I read everything I could get my tiny fingers on. I read my way through my elementary school library– the librarian wouldn’t even bother sending me back to class after a certain point, because she knew that if she did I’d be back for another book by the end of the day. I read a lot, and I got fast at it, and I loved it.
I especially loved the Warrior Cats series by Erin Hunter. Gail Carson Levine was a staple for me; I never read Ella Enchanted, (because I didn’t know that had a book counterpart yet, I just knew the movie), but I loved Fairest. I can’t remember the title, but I remember a book about a girl who was a genius, but intentionally flunked all her tests so nobody would separate her from her only friend in her grade. I remember a book called Savvy, about a family with inherited preternatural abilities that don’t always work quite right. I read Girl in Blue over and over and over again. I loved Greek mythology and fairy tales and folklore, and I read that whole shelf of the library twice. Until I was twelve I loved every book I came across.
I can only remember reading one book that I didn’t like– I don’t remember the title, but it was a very slice-of-life novel about a teenage girl and her mom not agreeing on where the girl’s life should go, and bickering about what kind of sweater she should wear– and I hated that book. It took me three years to slog through it.
Everything else I chose haphazardly and read voraciously. Fantasy, sci-fi, action, school life, home life. I didn’t go to bookstores very much because there weren’t any close by, but when we did I spent hours picking one promising-looking book– because I knew reading was an expensive hobby, and I’ve been a little frugal since I was young.
A lot of it was probably escapism as a coping mechanism, but I just knew I was having a blast even when my neurochemicals didn’t really want to cooperate with me, or when getting out of bed was too much.
When we moved to California, I stopped reading as much, but I still read some in middle school. The Found series was great until I lost one of the books. I read a biblical fiction book, Lineage of Grace, which was an unexpected treat– and it should be mentioned that I first read the Bible in sixth grade, and understood next to none of it. I discovered my two favorite book series of all time in middle school (I think in eighth grade): the Monument 14 series by Emma Laybourne and the Unwind series by Neil Shusterman. Both of them have been my favorites for a long time, and still are.
In seventh grade, I saw an advertisement for the movie adaptation of Atlas Shrugged, and I asked my mom if she knew what book it was based on. She said she’d heard of it, but that I probably couldn’t read it because it was very long and very difficult to get through. So, being who I am as a person, that was the book I bought next time I found myself in a book store, and I read Atlas Shrugged in a month or two– I’m still proud of that because there have been several people (all grown businessmen, which grinds my gears even further, personally) who scoffed at me and told me that middle-schoolers can’t read that book, because they couldn’t. It pissed me off so much once that I dragged the offending man into a philosophical discussion of Ayn Rand’s point– I don’t agree with all of her philosophy, but I wanted to piss that man off as much as he had pissed me off. I was an angry seventh-grader, but I digress.
By high school, with three AP classes each year and accelerated classes as part of my high school’s trimester system, I was reading less and less “traditional” literature in my free time, except for my assigned reading for my English classes. Lucky for me, I loved most of those too. “Chronicle of a Death Foretold,” “The Yellow Wallpaper,” Jane Eyre, and everything written by Jane Austen (admittedly, I haven’t read much of her yet, but I’ll get there) were all instant loves. Catcher in the Rye was interesting, if not as much of a favorite as some others. Hamlet was good, if only because I appreciated something (anything) that I could interpret as homosexual or homoerotic (yes, I am talking about Hamlet and Horatio). The only thing I can distinctly remember reading and disliking was Romeo and Juliet– all the characters were a little too short-sighted for my tastes.
However, I discovered a new reading love in high school– and you may cringe when I say: Fanfiction. I fell in love with fanfiction, and I still love it just as much as Unwind or Pride and Prejudice or The Hobbit. I won’t spend a whole lot of time here talking about fanfiction and why I appreciate it just as much (if not more) than traditional literature, but I may give y’all an update down the road about it, because I am genuinely passionate about treating fanfiction as a genre of literature just like any other written piece. For now though, I will move on.
In college, I spent one semester knocking out all my prerequisites, which meant mostly math and science classes, and one English 201 (my AP classes let me out of 101 and 102). That English class was miserable, probably one of the most miserable classes of my life. Everything we read was misogynistic, at least semi-racist (of course, under the guise of “historical realism,” because we all know people of color were first seen in 1963), and depressing to top it off. Whatever literary, technical merit the works had as representations of the craft of writing was entirely washed out by the abysmal or just plain repulsive subject matter and themes. This English 201 class did teach me, however, that there is a world of difference between being good at writing and being a good writer. I hope to be the latter.
My last three semesters at my current college have been significantly kinder to me. My major, Creative Writing, means I get to take a lot of literature classes, even if my community college only has one writing class.
I’ve taken a Shakespearean literature class, and loved it. My teacher opened the class by calling herself a heretic, and that some of her opinions about Shakespeare (he was not an illiterate wool merchant, he had male and female sexual interests, he was a feminist despite him writing “Taming of the Shrew,” and he was absolutely insufferable to be around) are borderline psychotic, as far as some other academics are concerned. So, of course, I love her to death. I followed her to two more classes in subsequent semesters, both being one half of a British Literature sequence from the inception of the English language to modern-day. My favorite works from these classes are Shakespeare’s Merchant of Venice (again, you’ve gotta love the queer representation, and the hilarity), Austen’s “Plan of a Novel, according to Hints from Various Quarters,” and Mill’s “On Liberty.”
I took a similar literature sequence for American literature with a different professor, but I took the “Civil War to Contemporary” section before the “First Contact to Civil War.” This professor is another whom I love to death– he majored in English with an emphasis in Queer and Gender Studies, and wrote his dissertation on video games as a form of literature (also, he’s written peer-reviewed academic essays on my favorite video game series, Bioshock). So almost everything between these two semesters of American ltierature had a focus on people of color, indigenous people, genderqueer and nonbinary people, and queer people. We read Passing by Nella Larson, and I met some girls in the class and we got so excited about the book that the professor told us he’d let us come in to talk about it to future semesters. I also loved reading Benito Cereno with the class, mostly for the discussion and the essay I got to write about it.
This semester, I’m taking a World Literature class, and I’m currently in the second half of that British Literature sequence– which means, after this semester, I will have taken every literature class my community college offers except one– as well as a philosophy class, my final semester of required Spanish, and a creative writing class.
You have two out of the three pieces of the puzzle of where I’m from now. You know about me as a person, and you know about what I’ve read. I’ll see you here, same time, same place, next week to tell you what I’ve written, and then we can move on to the present.
I can’t wait to see you guys again. I hope everyone is staying safe, healthy, and happy.

my self inserts
things that are always the same:
my name is charlie, i’m genderqueer, pansexual, and romantically polyamourous. i have autism, narcolepsy, cataplexy, depression, anxiety, ocd, ptsd, adhd and an auditory processing disorder.
marvel/x-men si:
powers:
//regeneration//superhuman strength, senses, and durability//iq of over 300//prehensile hair//levitation//manipulation of color//psychometry//empathy//telekinesis//telepathy//aura reading//portal creation//
their powers are based on sleep so the more they sleep, the more powerful they become
adoptive child of tony stark and a complete idiot. loves literally everyone and exists solely to receive hugs from beefy men.
superhero name is kid universe
supernatural s/i:
completely and most definitely a mortal. there is definitely nothing weird about any of the things that happen here. the fact that they’ve avoided death so much that they literally outnumber the winchester bros combined is,,,completely a coincidence. the fact that they met team free will at eleven and have only aged like,,,,,four years is,,,,,just a weird character trait!!! there is completely nothing going on here. now that you know that they are (completely) human, we can move on.
they kinda just,,,,slipped in to the bois lives around season two. like the bros saved them from a vampire and they just,,,kept showing up. eventually the bois just handed charlie a flannel and called it a day.
they don’t really like killing things but they could literally kill god. (not really, they just like to talk loudly about that in front of chuck)
usually they spend their time hanging in the bunker and other various places
they have the uncanny ability to just...be places. like they just hang with crowley in hell and death likes to go out for food with them. like, they’re just endearing enough to make everyone not hate them.
harry potter s/i:
muggleborn slytherin who probably belongs in hufflepuff. probably could smash hermione to the ground with their grades if they actually handed any assignments in. they most definitely suck up to their professors.
they were killed at like sixteen in the marauders era, then reincarnated but like they still had their memories. obviously they couldn’t do anything about their own death so they just chilled.
they would probably punch dumble-bore if they had the balls
criminal minds s/i:
child prodigy who literally got through high school by smoking weed and asking their teachers extensively uncomfortable questions.
cuts open bodies for a living and has never been shooketh by an unsub in their life. they did cry extensively when derek gives them a stuffed animal though.
sherlock s/i:
does literally all the drugs, could probably qualify for the book of world records from the amount of doors they’ve walked into. they ran away from home and ended up in london sobbing their eyes out to a very confused john watson. sherlock thinks they’re the shit.
lord of the rings/the hobbit s/i:
diplomatic representative of the fae. a deer centaur that literally just wants to be held. gives zero (0) shits. a pacifist but will punch smaug of he looks at their baby bois. no one really knows how to deal with them cause they’re technically an eldritch being. they refuse to wear shirts so they just walk around titties out.
umbrella academy s/i:
number eight, also known as the only hargreaves child who has any of their shit together. they can feel and manipulate emotions, and their hair changes color with their mood. they got a job as a teacher, and their kids think they’re the bomb.
an absolute meme lord.
their ‘dad’ made them drive people to suicide and they could feel the people dying so thats hot.
they fuckhing hate luther with a burning passion.
klaus thinks they’re dope. mostly cause they smoke weed with him.
doctor who s/i:
an absolute mad lad.
every other word they say is profanity or a meme.
the tardis loves them with so much force that one time charlie saved the day by sweet-talking her.
they’re basically just a kid from earth who tagged along and when the doctor finally realized they were there,,,,the gang was already surrounded by aliens and charlie was talking so fast and so rudely that they annoyed the aliens into putting them to death. at which point they decked the leader and smashed a chair over another dudes head.
percy jackson s/i:
kid of hecate who fights with a full on axe. just...a battle axe. the head of it is almost as big as their torso. they have big dick energy and also big axe energy.
they spend most of their time in arts and crafts. you know those beads that everyone’s got? yeah charlie be making those.
they should probably be a kid of demeter for the amount of plants they have.
dc s/i:
ch’laey was part of an alien species that was enslaved in a similar way to the concentration camps. their species was kept for fourteen sun rotations until ch’laey came into their powers, at which point they fought their way out of the camp. the enslaving force massacred the entire camp, and ch’laey escaped to earth, where world war one was in full swing. they hooked up with diana prince, and the rest is funnier.
one time they punched superman in the face and broke his nose.
called batman a furry and now he can’t look them in the eyes.

Ash Parker is 36 years young with a birthday on September 10th. They hail from Huddersfield, West Yorkshire but now live in New York, New York. They are a Professor and look a bit like Jodie Whittaker.
Full Name:
Ashley Jodie Parker
Pronouns:
They/Them
Gender:
Genderqueer
Sexuality:
Queer
3 Positive Traits:
+ Curious + Kind + Determined
3 Negative Traits:
- Hyperactive  - Quirky  - Clumsy
Biography:
triggers: transphobia, depression
Ash is the oldest child of Charles Parker. They were a product of a fling their father had with a woman by the name of Jodie Doyle when he was eighteen. Charles would raise Ash on his own for many years, until eventually marrying. Ash would be eight years old when the first of their siblings was born, and fifteen when the youngest was born. Their faith is something that keeps Ash grounded. Growing up, it was something Charles instilled in them. While their father wasn’t a fan of organized religion, he taught them to have faith in God. A God that was accepting and caring. He taught them that, above all else, they needed to have faith, even if it wasn’t in God. This led to Ash studying multiple religions. Oddly enough, it was in deciding what they believed that they came out as genderqueer.
[Transphobia, Depression] When they came out as genderqeer, they lost just about everything. Marie, who had never properly liked them, disowned them and tried to push their father to do the same. The partner they’d been dating at the time and many of their friends turned on them. They also almost lost their job. It was a very dark time in their life and they spiraled into a depression that took a long while and a lot of help to recover from.  Growing up, Ash was obsessed with how things worked. Technology especially. They were big on taking things apart and learning how they worked. This led to an engineering degree, with a secondary fascination with computer science, particularly how it related to security. They received their master’s degree based on their combined interest and then went to work for the British government, thanks to a post-graduate internship.
For years, Ash worked for the Defense and Science Technology Laboratory. It was a government job and served them well, but eventually, their moonlighting as a tech specialist was earning them more money and it was no longer required. Thus, they became a freelance tech specialist, able to secure contracts many companies around the globe. Curiosity was always big for Ash. They went looking for their birth mother and found her. The other mystery for them was why their father never spoke of his family. So, they decided to figure it out. In looking into their father’s family, Ash came across a cousin in New York City that could be a possible step in the right direction, along with information about the rest of the family. Their job allowed them the ability to move to New York City, since multiple companies they worked as a technical specialist had offices in the city, and the job could be done remotely anyway.
When the connection fell through, the cousin deciding they wanted nothing to do with Ash, they considered returning home. However, someone at Columbia had gotten word of their skills through their job as a freelancer, and, in return for paying for the continuing of their education, and the taking on of their visa, Ash was offered a position as a professor for the following fall semester. With many of their overseas contracts coming to a close, and a need for a better lifestyle, Ash decided to accept the position, as well as start the schooling for their Doctorate.
Around the same time, Ash found out that their new found friend, Flora was possibly the younger sister of their father’s best friend as a teen. While it’s still up in the air, on whether it’s just a coincidence or not, Ash is excited for any hint to their family.

Trans Snape Week Day 1: Reflection
(I wrote this a while back, thinking about a depressed and closeted genderqueer Severus teaching and eventually becoming friends with the absolute treasure that is trans girl Luna Lovegood)
When Luna Lovegood first arrives at Hogwarts, Severus has no idea what to make of her. She is so unflappable and confident and despite the way the world treats her she refuses to engage with its cruelty. Instead, she sees the wonder and beauty in absolutely everything, including Severus. This is understandably distressing for him. How can this lonely, bullied child not become terrible and bitter, all sharp edges and jaded eyes? What’s more, Luna is unwaveringly kind, not just to others but to herself. Severus is resentful without fully understanding why. He lashes out at her in class, but then she just looks at him with those big pale eyes like she can see the exact shape of his pain. That terrifies Severus. Whatever it is that’s reflected in her gaze is so unthinkable that he flinches away from her. He slams up his occlumency shields and tries ignoring the girl instead.
That strategy doesn’t really work with Luna, however, and eventually Severus gets to know her better through making her transition potions. He has to familiarize himself with a whole new area of magic and the process is both enlightening and deeply uncomfortable. Severus wonders if maybe this is what he wanted as a child, before Tobias’s sneers, and the Marauders’ taunts and Lily’s bemused laughter made it clear that femininity is not something he was allowed to desire like that. No, perhaps not this exactly, but something...
It’s no use wondering anyway. What Severus wants has never mattered. It can’t matter. There is no room in Severus’s life for anything other than a quiet self-loathing which allows him to keep doing Dumbledore’s bidding, and eventually return groveling into the clutches of the Dark Lord. No, there isn’t room in Severus’s life for anything vain or sweet or self-indulgent.
At least until Miss Luna Lovegood waltzes into her first Potions class and forces Severus to confront the possibility of kindness.
In her second year, Luna becomes good friends with the Weasley girl after Ginny hexes some boys for throwing around slurs. Severus feels like he is losing his mind – the werewolf is back, Black is a murderer on the loose, Potter Jr is as insufferable as his father ever was, and there is a bullied little outcast being defended by a feisty redheaded Gryffindor. Everywhere he turns, the castle reflects his bitter past at him. He knows he can’t ever escape being that angry miserable boy who confirmed everybody’s worst thoughts about himself, not while he’s still here. His one hope is that Luna is simply too good to make the same mistakes he made. A wannabe Death Eater she is certainly not.
Luna is, however, a rather good hand at potions. She doesn’t have the same academic rigor as Severus but she is similarly intuitive in her experimentation. Every few months she turns up at Severus’s office hours with the most bizarre idea he’s ever heard and which, on second thought, might just work. As the years go by their conversations about potions and gender magic become something deeper. Oh, it’s still on those subjects, still strictly professional, but the words also hold promises of understanding and acceptance. Without so many words Luna tells Severus that he is not only deserving but also capable of happiness. Severus watches out for Luna and ensures that she gets the chance to live up to her potential. Luna never calls Severus “sir,” just “Professor.” Severus runs interference with the other staff, especially when Umbridge decides to get nasty. Luna sees Severus in a way that nobody has ever bothered to look before. Severus doesn’t push Luna away.
Metamorphosis is a slow and painful process. Severus cannot jeopardize his work as a spy, but somewhere along the way, he begins to care whether he lives or dies at the end of the war. Throughout it all, and especially in that terrible year when Severus is headmaster, Luna Lovegood is the one person who never loses faith in him. That faith keeps him sane and keeps him hoping against all hope for a future beyond all this.
Things get ugly, but Severus comes out of the final battle alive. As the survivors of the war begin to pick up the pieces of the last few years, Severus begins to pick up the pieces of a lifetime.
Three years later nobody knows what became of Professor Severus Snape or how to find him. Nobody is motivated to search very thoroughly. Harry Potter may have testified as to Severus’s innocence, but most people are only too happy to say “good riddance.”
Every weekend, Luna Lovegood apparates to a small house on the coast of Italy to visit an old friend. They walk along the beach, enjoying the sun and the feeling of the ocean breeze whipping their skirts around their ankles. Luna is happy to see that with every passing week her friend moves more loosely and their smiles, though still rare, come more easily. One day she will invite them to attend her and Ginny’s wedding, and they will graciously accept.
The future can be kinder than the past, despite time’s cyclical nature. All is well.

More US teens are rejecting ‘boy’ or ‘girl’ gender identities, a study finds
(AP Photo/Jacquelyn Martin) People with the Human Rights Campaign hold up "equality flags" during an event organized by Rep. Joe Kennedy, D-Mass., in support of transgender members of the military, Wednesday, July 26, 2017, on Capitol Hill.
By Mercedes Leguizamon and Brandon Griggs CNN
(CNN) — More teenagers are identifying themselves with nontraditional gender labels such as transgender or gender-fluid, according to a new study.
The research, published Monday in the journal Pediatrics, found that almost 3% of Minnesota teens did not identify with traditional gender labels such as "boy" or "girl." That number is higher than researchers expected. A UCLA study from a year ago estimated that 0.7% of teens identified as transgender.
A 15-year-old student killed two classmates and hit a dozen others with…

Lead researcher Nic Rider of the University of Minnesota said the main purpose of the new study was to examine health differences between gender-nonconforming teens and teens who are cisgender, a person whose gender identity aligns with the sex assigned to them at birth.
The study found that transgender and gender-nonconforming (TGNC) youth reported "reported significantly poorer health" — including mental health — than cisgender teenagers. TGNC teens also were less likely to get preventive health checkups and more likely to visit their school nurse, the study found.
But more surprising may have been the rising percentage of teens who say they don’t fit traditional gender norms.
The study supports prior research suggesting "that previous estimates of the size of the TGNC population have been underestimated by orders of magnitude," wrote Daniel Shumer, a specialist in transgender medicine at the University of Michigan, in an accompanying opinion article.
Two studies
Rider is a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Minnesota’s Program in Human Sexuality. For their research, Rider’s team examined data from a 2016 survey of almost 81,000 Minnesota students in the 9th and 11th grades.
Nearly 2,200 of these teens — about 2.7% — answered yes to the question: Do you consider yourself transgender, genderqueer, gender-fluid or unsure of your gender identification? The term "genderqueer" describes a person who does not subscribe to conventional gender distinctions and may identify with neither, both, or a combination of male and female identities.
That’s a big jump from the UCLA study, which was published in January 2017 and estimated that 0.7% of American teens ages 13-17 identify as transgender.
That study was based on government data on adults collected by 27 US states in 2014 and 2015. The survey’s researchers used the adult data to estimate the percentage of transgender teens.
Rider’s new study only focuses on Minnesota teens, but researchers hope to expand it into a national study to get more accurate data.
‘A window into high school-aged youth’
Growing awareness and visibility surrounding transgender issues in recent years may make teenagers more comfortable with steering away from traditional gender labels, experts say.
Shumer, an assistant professor at the University of Michigan, believes that the growing percentage of gender-nonconforming youth should serve as a lesson to schools and physicians to abandon limited views of gender.
"Of particular interest is how the researchers in this study were able to provide a window into how high school-aged youth understand and redefine gender," he wrote.
"Continued work to build understanding of how youth understand and express gender is a critical step toward reducing health disparities in this important and valued population."
Rider hopes this study will help improve health care for transgender teenagers, adding that doctors and parents should help gender-nonconforming youth feel more comfortable about seeking medical help.
