Threads of Boston's Intimacy: Crochet, Cotton, and Connections
So I've been tracking and locating most of the outfits that each character has been wearing since episode 1, mostly because I like the choices that wardrobing department made (and wanted to know the brand of the pieces) and also because some of the shirts worn were so incredibly on the nose (looking at you Drake).
I've seen so many talk about Mew's own fashion transformation and how much it says about his style transforming from his own to Ray's. But Boston has a bit of his own transformation in his style since he lost Nick and the rest of his friends.
This week, we finally see Boston back in his crochet shirt when he pays a visit to Nick's electronic store. And it got me thinking as to why Boston style went through such a switch up at the exact time that he lost his friends, Nick, and he was no longer actively "hunting" around for someone else to sleep with.
Crochet Tops Pre-Audio Leakage
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Fashion and the wardrobe that characters wear typically tell a story. We've seen that the Only Friends team has deliberately chosen specific tops to accompany the actual visual and verbal story-telling that occurs. Drake's infamous nude-painting collage button up, which I'm still unable to locate, immediately comes to mind. Boston's fashion is not an exception to this, and I'm leaning on to the side that not only the visual prints on the clothes he wears is important but also the textile of the garments are communicating his emotional landscape. For the first arc, while Boston did wear some ripped cotton shirts, they were sparse and far between as he mostly wore some variation of a crocheted or knit top. (Please keep in mind, that going forward, when I refer to crochet tops I also include his knit shirts but opted to not to state it in favor of being succinct and avoid repetitiveness.)
Crochet tops are known for their intricate and openwork patterns, because of those open patchworks, most crochet tops are, at some degree, see-through. I can't help but think that it symbolizes Boston's willingness to be transparent, he's very much up-front with what he wants physically and takes on an attitude of 'what you see is what you get.'
The very nature of crochet is delicate, it's one of the few methods that is unable to be recreated by machinery due to the intricacy and complexity, which the same could be said about the complexities it takes to manage the multiple sexual encounters that Boston has. There's an ease and comfort that Boston finds in his one-night stand, because he's used to it, he's able to navigate the complications, whether that's people catching feelings. Even with all his non-committal connections, he's transparent and authentic to himself, he navigates the intricate landscape of all his entanglements how he saw fit.
The crochet tops encapsulate Boston's ability to weave the threads of his emotional connections with transparency and authenticity, even if they are fleeting moments since he has no expectation of remaining in Thailand. The crochet tops he wore were a poignant symbol of his approach to his relationships.
Solid Cotton Tops Post-Audio Leakage
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The last time we saw Boston in his colorful crochet tops, prior to episode 10, was during his confrontation with Mew at the pool in episode 7. Now Boston's full transition to mainly wearing solid cotton tops following cutting Nick out of his life and concurrently being cut out of Mew's, Cheum's, and Ray's life is another substantive symbol that his clothing is an emotional response to his emotional state. Solid cotton tops are known for their practicality and sturdiness, which a stark contrast to the intricate and delicate features of any crocheted garment.
Boston's choice of solid cotton tops, we witness a visual and symbolic withdrawal into a more guarded emotional state. Boston is very much detracts himself from the lives of his friends as they had wished, only appearing when he has to. His tops and leather jacket, act as an armor, protecting Boston from the sudden emotional turmoil that he was subject to with the use of his sex tape and audio as revenge by his friends. It's as if Boston uses these shirts to construct a barrier between himself and the outcomes of his actions, a means to cope with the distress and instability that had suddenly appeared in his life. Intimacy wise, Nick had been the only consistent person he had and he had trusted him. Meanwhile Mew used his sex-tape as a threat to out him to his father, Boston took hit after hit. The solidity of the cotton fabric is a reflection of his resilience in dealing with those emotional challenges, he creates an emotional boundaries explicitly when it came to Nick.
The solid cotton shirts, in this context, show us Boston's need for a protective layer against the turbulent emotional waters that the revenge inevitably brings, it's his only sense of stability in an arguably tumultuous period. He had no plans on creating connections in Thailand because he knew his time was fleeting, his sexual prowess was more self-sabotage, even IF it brought him momentary bliss and happiness. But he had made those connections, with Mew, Cheum, Ray, and even Nick. It's why he withdrew, it's why he finds himself realizing that he has destroyed every good thing in his life.
Return to Crochet Tops and His Return to Nick
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Boston is going through a journey of self-realization and self-actualization. He's more than his body and his body count, he wants more than that. I swear, his decision to return to his crochet tops when he sought out Nick was purposeful. The crochet-top, characterized by intricate and openwork patterns, is seemingly back to take center stage in his wardrobe, now signifying a complex shift in his emotional landscape.
There are hundreds of phone repair shops that he could have gone to. There are millions of other pictures that he could have used for his lock screen. He still chose Nick. He's still transparent. Boston has always been self-assured in who he wants and who he is, and even though to some degree he reaped what he sowed, he was also a victim. He was hurt by Nick, but he still wants the one man that sees him more than good lay. Nick saw him for who he was and still loved him for it, he wouldn't necessarily change him for it. Nick saw him for his talent, for his interest in photography, as an actual three-dimensional person in all his hypocrisy and sharp words. Nick verbally acknowledging this and choosing to let him go unknowingly moved Boston.
It was a significant step in Boston's journey of personal growth and self-awareness. He's realizing that he self-sabotages and purposefully hurts the people he cares about. He chooses to reintegrate himself into Nick's life, with all the complexity and vulnerability that comes out of their past relationship. He might not have said it directly, but the moment he handed his phone to Nick with the lock screen showing his favorite picture of Nick, he was being crystal clear.
When Nick seeks him out on the rooftop, Boston is back in his cotton shirt, because that's when he fully realizes that he created his own consequences. He finally realizes how much it hurts to lose his friend group, even though he though he had kept people at arm's length since he was always going to end up in New York. When Nick finds him, he's completely in thought on the verge of realization that he's self-destructive (not to dissimilar to Ray). So he has the protection back on, because dissecting yourself and your problems are painful and exhausting. He realizes that his actions resulted in his friends of three years either thinking he's low enough to blackmail and SA someone or smug that he's being accused of such. That's his breaking point and he needed that protection. It'll be interesting if we see more of his crochet tops from now on.
Final Thoughts
Tumblr media
Since episode 1, Boston has always fascinated me. Now this isn't a 'in defense of' or 'look at my poor meow-meow' post either, but we as viewers have an omniscient-type of view of everything that has been happening and until today's episode, I wasn't really sure what pushed Boston to be so volatile. For the first time, we saw Boston be truly and completely vulnerable with Nick. He's finally the one that looked for Nick, who reached out to him, and he did it while being in his crochet top, just like when they first hooked up.
I'm not fully part of the camp that thinks that Boston likes sleeping around, and this isn't because of some personal moral scorn for "sexual promiscuity" and preference for "sexual purity", but more because it seemed like Boston was doing it more for the company while avoiding any really human connections that would make him miss Thailand if he were sent to New York. It became comfortable, it became easy, so while I do think he got momentary gratification, I don't think it truly made him happy. We have two episodes left and I'm truly excited to see where Boston's story and wardrobe leads us next.

The conflict inherent to Stoliz is a feature, not a bug.
To preface: these are two demons who want to be together. That really isn't in question. They keep pictures of each other on their phones, help each other out when it comes to what's important (their daughters), and save each other's asses. Stolas thinks Blitzø's jokes are the height of comedy, and Blitzø has in Stolas someone who appreciates his fascinating attempts at humor; this, more than anything else, speaks to a base compatibility.
Why aren't they together is the question, and, happily, it leads to an interesting answer! If you're holding your couple apart, there should be good reasons for that. Nothing turns one off a couple like forced conflict. If conflict is convoluted, one can start questioning: why are these characters so incompetent? If they can't figure out something so simple how can we expect them to navigate an established relationship? Stoliz, well... they have so much shit to navigate I really can't blame them for fucking it up.
Yes, there's the external pressures. Striker is a reflection of it; he highlights the class divide between Blitzø and Stolas every time he comes on screen. Something Blitzø is deeply aware of and Stolas is coming to realize.
There's also major personality characteristics that mesh so poorly one might want to bang their head against the wall. Luckily, these characteristics are actually things that Blitzø and Stolas need to grow out of to be more functional for themselves. The fact that it will lead to them being capable of holding a relationship together is a sweet consequence of the fact, and, if I dare say so, damn good writing.
Stolas is a character who is haunted by inaction. He's passive and has been since childhood. His relationship with Stella is a reflection of that. It's not something to blame him for, but it doesn't serve him in getting what he needs. It makes him fairly miserable, in fact. The show isn't subtle about it; he needs happy pills to get through the day.
You can see this trait come out in his relationship with Blitzø when, confronted with his obligations, he hides behind a menu at Ozzie's to avoid dealing with the repercussions of standing up for himself and his wants. This is something he's been working on, and we can see it in his relationship with Stella: against his father's wishes and royal society, he demands a divorce and engages in a not-relationship with Blitzø. This puts him in active danger; Stella wants his head. Things with Octavia become more complicated. And yet: he needs to do it, in order to make life more than merely bearable for himself.
Stolas is also someone who is not great at reading other people's emotional states. His relationship conflicts with Octavia are a reflection of that. There are multiple episodes where he doesn't catch onto her sadness or dislike. But he always, always, apologies and attempts to empathize the second he is made aware of his ignorance. He loves very deeply and very much, and he wants what's best for those he cares about. Octavia is a teenager, so it's understandable that she has trouble conveying what she needs from her father as her family fractures around her. But this brings us to...
Blitzø. Because Blitzø struggles heavily with communicating his needs. Worse, he seems to only be semi-aware of what his needs are. He shies away from even acknowledging he has a thing for Stolas, because it would force him to acknowledge other things that are hard for him: that he's vulnerable, that he's hopeful, that he wants to try despite everything. He holds everything in, denying himself, until it bursts out or reveals itself in twisted up ways. Such as obsessing over Millie and Moxxie's loving relationship, something he can't bring himself to admit he wants, or his near breakdown in the car after Ozzie's, where he finally reveals parts of himself he's been holding separate from Stolas.
Blitzø also has severe self-worth issues and barricades his heart behind two tons of concrete. It's not something to blame him for, but it doesn't serve him in getting what he needs. He almost requires that Stolas be a towering figure incapable of getting hurt, someone who only wants to use him for sexual favors, because it confirms his worldview. The belief that he's not able to hold a loving relationship and that everything he touches is made a mess. We hear him tell Fizz that Stolas has been asking over him, trying to connect, but Blitzø in unwilling to consider positive meanings for any of it. He’s stuck inside his bubble of critical reflection.
Mid-way through season two, and we've reached a delicious crossroads. Stolas is aware, now, that their arrangement has been hurting Blitzø, because of his outburst after their date at Ozzie's. He's been reflecting on it ever since. We can glean this through his songs, and the way he's been looking into obtaining a crystal for Blitzø that will break-off their arrangement all throughout season two.
Neither of these two are good at being upfront and honest. Their text-log that's shown following Stolas' hospitalization is a lesson in writing miscommunication and fits their particular brands of communicative failure perfectly (it's a bit of a crime they're so blink-and-you-miss-it). They've been avoiding the very real break in their relationship following Ozzie's... until. Now. Soon. Stolas is going to give Blitzø the crystal. And it’s going to be a hard tilt into something real that frankly they very likely are not ready for.
It’s prime drama. It’s necessary tension. And it’s compelling as fuck. Both characters are sketched out nicely, and it tickles to see them bump up against each other. It's because they're both so fully realized, with their own individual flaws, that they're able to have this conflict. I love them for those flaws. I love them because it’s a struggle to get on the same page. It does not come naturally, and yet they keep trying because they’re pulled to each other. Mwah. The effort, the mutual effort, they have to put in makes it more special.

I don't think there should be a Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot and I don't have any reason to believe there is going to be a Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot and I would not watch a Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot.
But, that said, if there were to be a Buffy reboot I think a big (small) change that would improve the show a lot (especially in its first season) would be to have a much broader pool of recurring student characters from the very beginning.  Not just the Scooby Gang and Cordelia, but ideally almost all the students we see in the first season should appear in multiple episodes and, if they die, they should be talked about at least once afterwards.  As it is, Season 1 is full of ghosts: characters like Amy and Harmony who will go on to be somewhat recurring but aren't quite there yet, and characters like Jesse and Cordelia's boyfriend Kevin (remember him?) who only exist to die and are not mentioned before or after. Most of the show's recurring minor student characters will only be introduced in Season 2.
In particular, I think the characters most ill-served by this in canon are, in order of first (and often only) appearance:
Jesse
I actually think the concept of Jesse – as a sympathetic character who is killed in the opening episodes before we really get to know him – is a good one.  Beyond any possible shock value of his death, it's a useful way of establishing that people can and will die in this story, and of stating out loud the setting's rules for vampires ("you're not looking at your friend, you're looking at the thing that killed him").  On the other hand, the execution is pretty awful because it is immediately clear that Jesse is not the same status of character as Willow and Xander (he isn’t even in the opening credits), he is not actually sympathetic at all (he seems to exist to answer the question "what if Xander Harris but Worse?"), and large parts of the fandom (and later writers of the show itself) will decide to completely ignore what the show is telling them about how vampires as a concept on Buffy work and why Buffy is not only justified but morally obliged to Slay them.
But the most egregious thing about Jesse is, of course, that after his death in The Harvest he is never talked about again.  I honestly think that just a couple of lines of dialogue spread out over Season 1 (Buffy blaming herself for Jesse's death while worrying whether she’s making a positive difference as a Slayer, say, or Xander mentioning Jesse as a reason for disliking vampires, or Jesse being named as one of several mysteriously missing students by Principal Flutie) would go a really long way to fixing that.
A brief cameo appearance in Nightmares wouldn't have hurt either.  (Just months ago Xander failed to save his best friend from vampires and was taunted by the demon wearing his corpse and had to watch him turn to dust in front of his eyes, so of course he’s terrified of … clowns.  OK.)
Amy
OK, for real, if I were in charge of creating a Buffy reboot I would be very tempted to just add Amy to the Gang after Witch.  She knows that magic is real!  She knows Buffy knows magic is real!  She seems to be on friendly terms with both Buffy and Willow when the episode ends! And yet she vanishes after her first appearance more quickly than Marcie Ross.
But, failing that, having Amy show up more than once a year in the high school seasons would be a start (especially since the show implies so much is happening to her behind the scenes each year).  Let her be a friend of Buffy's who doesn't know anything about Buffy being the Slayer.  Have Willow at least think about asking her for help with Angel’s soul curse!  Pull the trick the writers used in The Wish (and never used again) of having Willow talk about her as if they're friends even in episodes she's not appearing in.  Show us Willow spending time with her rather than Buffy during Dead Man's Party!  Remember that this character exists even when she’s not on screen!
Lance (and his various bullies) from The Pack
Hapless victim Lance is basically a proto-Jonathan and, if I were remaking the show, I would just lean into that fully and simply replace him with Jonathan from the very beginning.
It would be tempting to do the same thing with Kyle and Heidi and the others, too: rather than retroactively introduce multiple new characters who apparently used to bully Xander in Seasons 2 and 3 that we’ve never met before and never will again (how big is Sunnydale High meant to be?).
The obvious problem with that is that the show tells us that the Pack remember eating Principal Flutie alive, which means rather than hanging out in school giving Xander and Willow a hard time when the plot requires it they should probably all be in therapy for years.  But you can fix that while fixing The Pack as an episode by just ... not having the fact Xander not only remembers assaulting Buffy but lies about it to her face presented to us as a punchline?  Have Xander forget what happened to him. Have them all forget what happened when they were possessed, and then Kyle and Heidi and the others can be conflated with Inca Mummy Girl's Rodney and School Hard's Sheila as and when required.
Owen
This requires slightly more work, but I think Owen and Scott work better if they're the same character too.  Rather than Owen promising to stay friends with Buffy and then never appearing or being mentioned again, or Willow telling Buffy she "wasn't ready" to date Scott before Season 3 as if he even existed then, just make Scott somebody that we've already met and who Buffy had previously briefly dated pre-Angel.
The challenge here is that Buffy breaks up with Owen because she doesn’t want to get him hurt and she’s still very focussed on keeping her identity as the Slayer secret and only letting a handful of people know.
But that fits into the wider theme of Season 3 perfectly.  By this point, Buffy’s let far more people know than just Willow and Xander.  Xander’s girlfriend Cordelia knows, and Willow’s boyfriend Oz knows, and Buffy’s own mother knows, and none of this has caused the world to end.  Why shouldn’t Buffy try dating a normal guy who knows she’s the Slayer?
(And I think everything about Scott works better if he’s somebody we’ve seen before – somebody we’ve seen Buffy be romantically interested in before – rather than suddenly appearing only to disappear almost as quickly. Scott is meant to represent Buffy trying to reassert her claim to a 'normal' life after everything that happened with Angel last year..  What better way to do that than to try to start things over with the one person we do see her trying to date on the show before Angel? How much harder would Scott's rejection of Buffy hit if we'd seen that the pre-Angelus version of Buffy really did get on well with him and would have expected to make things work?)
Kevin
The end of Season 1 features, back-to-back, two of its best episodes.  In Out of Mind Out of Sight, we focus on Cordelia Chase.  We're reintroduced to Cordelia's friend Harmony and we meet Cordelia's current boyfriend, Mitch.  (Who is attacked by Marice Ross, but survives.)  In Prophecy Girl Cordelia briefly bonds with Willow while talking about how much she likes her current boyfriend, Kevin, only for the two of them to discover him dead, killed by vampires on school grounds.
Wouldn't the death in the latter episode work much better if those two "current boyfriends" were the same person?  Wouldn't we care more about Kevin's death if he was somebody we'd actually met before?
But let’s go further than that: at the start of Season 2, in Some Assembly Required, we meet Chris, whose brother used to date Cordelia but tragically died. Chris tries to bring him back, and his brother pursues Cordelia.  The show doesn’t mention – or doesn’t remember – that Cordelia already has a tragically dead ex-boyfriend, one who died only two episodes ago.  Why not fix that?  Why not identify Chris’s brother Darryl with Kevin as well?
Make Mitch/Kevin/Darryl a single character, and then we would achieve that rarest of sights on Buffy: a minor character who we meet an episode before they die and who is mentioned again in an episode after they died.
And wouldn’t that almost make a potential Buffy reboot palatable?

Exploring the dofus-la-serie.com website - Part 1
The website is kind of broken, which makes me quite sad. Though that's life for you.
Character Profiles:
Tumblr media
I am not translating this because as fans of this franchise, you probably know all of these words. (Well, except gouvernante. That can mean "housekeeper". He isn't calling her their governor. Though she should be.)
I am not even going to mention that Kerubim is here twice. Sometimes, a second Kerubim appears in a random spot among the characters while going to this page or refreshing it. Just another one fun thing about this being an eleven-year-old website for a series that has been over for years.
Tumblr media
I wonder if, in-universe, he's the one who drew on their portraits, or if it was Joris's doing, influenced by Kerubim's stories?
Tumblr media
Love how Atcham isn't mentioned, but his pandawa drinking buddy is. Also, that neither of them have commentary by him.
The character pages themselves have unique character art:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
As well as short descriptions of the characters.
Because the entire site is saved on web archive, and probably won't go down anytime soon, (despite its buggy state,) and these not offering any new, groundbreaking information — I will not be posting most of them here, save for the main ones:
Joris:
Tumblr media
Kerubim:
Tumblr media
Also, a note: this calls him a "papa poule", which I decided to google, to hilarious results:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Thank you, dofus-la-serie.com... for everything. I already noticed, in the past posts, that it's actually weird and off-putting that Joris has no friends, and that it might be Kerubim's fault, but we never really see him make parenting decisions (COUGH-COUGH-COUGH besides the decision to constantly endanger and neglect Joris but EHHH I spent 50+ posts talking about that in the show liveblogs) in the series due to its slice of life format.
I'm glad to know that at least one canonical source describes him as overprotective, bearing, and anxious parent, (but not to a helicopter-parent level). That's actually quite valuable!
Simone:
Tumblr media
Pupuce:
Tumblr media
Multiple notes here:
The description does not seem to use explicitly masculine pronouns for Pupuce, who, as we know from Joris, is a girl. This is just an error on the Google Translate's part.
PUPUCE IS A CAT KIN/CAT FURRY????????????
You know what, actually considering Joris himself is a cat furry, but in a much more subtle, subdued way, her being his pet is a match made in heaven. Two creatures who wish they could be cats, breaking bread and drinking tea together. Love wins.
The broken "find the object" minigame:
Tumblr media
One can only be thankful that it's not more broken — because 2013 was prime time for flash games, and yet, this game does not seem to use flash technologies.
When you click anywhere on the screen itself, instead of the UI, the game, and the page itself freezes. It's a shame — I bet the game was fun, back when it worked.
I had taken it upon myself to download and archive the music from the minigame, so, here it is:
Using archive.org I was able to get to the next page, the link to which is usually invisible and also unclickable in the minigame:
Kerubim's Collection (link included so you don't have to suffer like I did)
Tumblr media
It's quite a long list, with many items, but I am not Ronik, this show's biggest, and probably, by now, only fan, if I don't read all of this and bring the most interesting parts to you.
Firstly, thankfully, all of these are, for the most part lore-less. Just little blurbs of the episodes those appear in, whether you can find them in-game, and a hint as to where to find this in the broken minigame. But there are some gems:
Tumblr media
Kerubim doesn't like Joris's photography hobby (...I sure do wonder why!)
Tumblr media
HE'S A SORE LOSER ABOUT WHAT HAPPENED IN THE NOFFOUB EPISODE. LMAO. "Deceitful Osamodas"....
Tumblr media
"I'm cautious" "Simone whyyy did you put it here??" How these two people hadn't killed Joris fr is still beyond me.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He's genuinely insane.

Almost 3am trigun brianrot time! This is long so be prepared
Tldr: it's about my idea of trigun 98 being the body, stampede the mind and trimax the soul
Ok so I was thinking about how TF I'm gonna handle trimax for @vashsscoreboardofpain (follow that is gonna be funny) and then I remembered an idea for a master post I wanted to do. I still want to make it but sadly I'm not at a stable position rn to do so. Maybe one day. But I still wanted to put that idea cuz it's slowly taking more form
Now, when I mean X is Y I mean it in a "this version of trigun has everything yes, but highlights Y the most and I think that's neat." Also it applies for all the characters but tonight I'm gonna focus on vash cuz im a vash enjoyer first and a person second. Yes my favorite character is the main one sue me.
Anyway, let's go
Trigun 98 is the body and vash encapsulates this idea in an interesting way. Plant powers aren't really a thing in this version so he is more like a super human with a fucked up arm. This makes him the closes to humans he's ever gonna be. But even if he doesn't have powers on this one, it was his and knives' bodies the cause that one guy's fear (its 3am I don't remember). He's afraid of how fast they grow and how much they learn. 98 also highlights vash's body being like everyone else's. He gets hurt multiple times, he needs nurses and kind people to look after him. Not only during the eriks episode but also on the episode after he kills legato. He also shows vulnerability by getting so drunk he needs to really focus to aim. He needs food and water. 98 Vash is really the closest one to humanity than the other 2, but only because of his physical attributes. Only because of his body, which bring him trouble most of the time. His vulnerable body is the cause of his misery, but it also allowed him to get close to people
Stampede is the mind cuz yeah, they had a specific mind palace episode (which I loved I ate that shit right up) but also because it does give us an easier access to everyone's mental state. We get to see this vash speedrun so many psychological problems in 12 episodes and is not gonna slow down. We literally get to see the guilt and terrors that plague his mind and how his mental fortitude exists thanks to other people. Also if you notice it, people just diagnose him left and right on stampede. Roberto picks up the ED signs, most characters tell him he has a death wish, nai straight up tells him he's doing good things out of guilt and vash allows himself to think about his contradictions outloud in episode 12 and why does he do the things he does (something that would be a therapy exercise I wanna say). Stampede is the mind cuz everyone is getting retrospective
And finally, trimax is the soul because it has more time to dwell on the characters emotions than any other version will ever give us. Instead of straight up diagnosis, trimax will give us panels to show us how vash feels about a situation. Instead of showing vash hurt from the horrors done to his body, trimax will focus on his pain. On his eyes that refuse to look at his own terrifying body that we can see, but only he can feel. What I mean is trimax is designed to drown us with emotion. The other versions are emotional af too, but trimax has that raw emotion up its sleeve. Trimax does nor dwell on the multiple scars vash has or his many Many mental problems. It shows us how fucked up vash's thoughts are about his body and his sins and we get to say "ohhhh...oh no". Trimaxs emotion is so heavy to bear that the body nor the mind are still present, but in comparison to the soul, they aren't highlighted. People say eyes are the windows of the soul and honestly I feel like you can learn so much of vash just from looking at his eyes. Once you focus on his soul and emotions you just can't let go of the feeling that this man will be drowned by his own emotions. Both positive and negative.
I want to rewrite this one day. Fuck, I'm pretty sure I got the Google doc somewhere. But I also wanted to put that idea out there. Because this doesn't mean one version is better than the other. It means that they all highlight different parts but they all end up in the same conclusion: trigun is about connections and alienation and love and peace
And vash needing therapy. Desperately.

I don’t think we give Pipkin as much credit in the TV series as we should. Let me tell you why this little rabbit is one of my favorite characters. Literally one of the bravest and strongest child characters I know.
Pipkin deals with so much for his age already. But despite all the hardships, Pipkin remained nothing but kind, compared to Woundwort. The parallels between them were great and I wished we could have seen more of it, including another interaction between them. I feel like out of anyone in that show, aside from Campion‘s death that perhaps Pipkin could have gotten through him. Or at least helped.
Prisoner of Efrafa is one of my favorite episodes. Woundwort tried to manipulate the child but that backfired on him because it turned into something more genuine. Woundwort even admits it himself: killing Pipkin would be like killing a part of himself. Woundwort sees himself in Pipkin.
Genuinely, I don’t think anyone got to hear his backstory personally aside from Pipkin.
Maybe, if Woundwort didn’t end up in a cage or had other rabbits to rely on at a young age he wouldn’t be what he is today. Like Silverweed said: without the suffering he went through, Woundwort would be happy.
Pipkin could have been in Woundwort‘s situation after his parents got killed by a weasel. Just like Woundwort saw himself in Pipkin, the young one also could relate to the tyrant. What if he never had Hazel and the others after his parents died? I’m sure that’s a thought that keeps him up at night after talking with Woundwort.
Even when the war starts, Pipkin says that the reason Woundwort hurts others is because he was hurt once upon a time so that it made him hate the whole world. But he says they shouldn’t hate him. Instead, they should pity him.
Pipkin is a child. A child that looked a tyrant into the eyes to say that he should just kill him now because he refuses to tell where his warren is. Bribery? You can give him as much food as you want and treat him decently, it’s not going to work. Pipkin made that clear the moment he encountered Woundwort and he was sticking to it.
Pipkin flat out tells Woundwort that he would rather be like Hazel and Bigwig when he tries to offer for Pipkin to join his Owsla. Not only that, but when Woundwort was all like bet Hazel isn’t that strong, the younger rabbit bluntly states that Hazel can just think his way out of trouble.
He tells Woundwort that the reason he is so strong is because of fear.
Another statement was made in front of Woundwort. His Owsla only follows him out of fear, not because of true loyalty. Pipkin is smart in that episode. He gets kidnapped and figures Woundwort and his warren out. He does not fall for Woundwort‘s kindness.
It almost seems like Pipkin isn’t frightened, not shying away to address the issues in Efrafa in front of Woundwort. But when asked about it, Pipkin admits that he is afraid - for his warren. Note how it’s only the warren, but not about what’s going to happen to him.
Woundwort compliments him that he is hiding his fear well.
And it is all because in an earlier episode, Bigwig told him to use his fear because it can make him stronger. Pipkin only managed to endure his stay in Efrafa because of Bigwig‘s advice.
Pipkin looks up to both Hazel and Bigwig, but I do believe that Bigwig is his favorite. He is constantly trying to prove himself to him, repeating what he said. Fear can make you stronger, running away isn’t the answer to anything, fear can make you smart.
In general, it feels like Bigwig took the role of the father figure toward Pipkin in that adaptation.
But that is not all. In Bark‘s first appearance Pipkin runs away after being attacked by the badger, leaving Fiver behind. In that episode, Pipkin was probably reminded of when the weasel got his parents. First Fiver, then Hazel later with the owl.
It isn’t like he wanted it to keep a secret of what happened. During the episode, Pipkin tried to reach out multiple times. But every time he wanted to talk, things happened. When he goes to Hazel first?
He gets scared because of the mentioned thrashing, so of course fear takes over him and he changes his mind. Primrose notices something is up with Pipkin, so she asks about it. But the other kids are fighting so she settles it first.
Later, Primrose says how she hasn’t seen him eating. Pipkin response is that he is not hungry. Primrose says if there is anything she can do for him, he should tell her and hops away. Pipkin has not realized that she hopped away, so he yells out in tears what happened. But when he turns around, Primrose is already gone. He desperately tried to tell them, Pipkin didn’t even hide it. It’s just that other stuff happened that prevented him from telling.
And then in season three?
Campion put this child under pressure by making him promise not to tell everyone he is alive. Can you imagine what a struggle that is for a child? Everyone is grieving for Campion and he cannot tell anyone. Pipkin had to deal with Campion’s angst all on his own, trying to make sure he does not give up on life and get him back into shape.
I both love and disliked it. Because who’s better to bring Campion back to his spirits than Pipkin? He is good at talking to people, probably what Campion needed but at the same time, Pipkin shouldn’t have to deal with Campion’s mental and physical condition. Especially considering Campion's headspace at the time.
And when Blackberry finds out?
“Blackberry is gone. And I broke my promise to Campion. I did everything wrong.”
You know how he thought that everyone was going to hate him when he left Fiver? Likely the case here too. He thought Blackberry was going to hate him for keeping it a secret, as well with the others. He thought Campion was going to be mad for breaking his promise and also putting Blackberry in danger.
This kid went through so much and yet never once did it let him sour his good nature. Instead he let it strengthen his resolve. The world is hard enough for everyone as it is, no point in giving aid to it. So he chooses kindness.

BS Theory no. 2: The “Dark Side of the Moon” is Society™️
“There is no dark side of he moon really. Matter of fact, it’s all dark”
Hey guys, I am back from my essay-writing hiatus, as I’ve recently had the time to have some Ideas circulating in my brain. One of the things I’ve been thinking about, and been able to formulate into something semi-comprehensible, is on the matter of Pink Floyd’s seminal work, the 1973 album Dark Side of the Moon. This album is far from being a niche, obscure album: it’s one of the best selling records of all time, and you have more than likely seen the album cover on t-shirts, posters, pins, stickers, or referenced in other media. The album kicks of what I will refer to the “main sequence” in Pink Floyd’s discography, which consists of their 4-best selling albums: DSOTM, Wish You Were Here, Animals (underrated tbh), and The Wall. All of these are indeed concept albums to varying degrees, with most being a Level Two Concept Album, and The Wall generally being classified as a rock opera (Level 3). With this in mind, Dark Side of the Moon most people would likely classify this album as a Level One, due to only a musical concept being present (all the songs flow into each other, and the album loops back on itself), however I argue that it is a Level Two due to there being multiple thematic concepts that may not be immediately apparent: society’s affect on mental health due to modern lifestyles.
I won’t go into too much background on the band itself, as they’re one of the most popular bands in the prog fandom, to the point where it could be argued that they are their own fandom (they even have their own confessions blog), just that they were formed in the mid-1960s, and had a substantial psychedelic rock/pop following before this album’s debut. I will note that the theme of mental illness has been greatly present in many of their works, as one of their former members, Roger "Syd" Barrett, suffered through an undisclosed mental health episode, which had him leave the band. As this is the case, it is not much of a stretch to assume that this work deals heavily with mental health issues as well.
One of the theories suggested, by Drew and Destin of the Prog Notes podcast (which I HIGHLY recommend) is that the album’s thematic concept is about all the different things in life that can cause a person mental stress. This theory begins with “On the Run”, as they suggest the first two songs are about beginning life. The theory proposes that “on the Run” is about the fear or anxiety of trave and moving on, “Time” is about… time, or rather realizing that one’s time is limited, “the Great Gig in the Sky” is about death anxiety, “Money” is about financial and material concerns, “Us and Them” is about conflict, and the last two songs “Brain Damage” and “Eclipse” are about finally breaking under the pressure of modern life. This would mean that the “dark side of the moon” referenced in the title could be all the downsides to modern life that are too taboo to talk about, or are perhaps hidden from public consciousness.
Honestly, I agree with their interpretation of the album. I do think, however, there’s some loose ends that need to be tied up with their series. For example, if their interpretation is the case, why would Pink Floyd have the album loop back on itself? What’s the symbolism of the heart beat pulse? Why do all the songs flow into each other? How do these things enhance the themes of the album? Why did Pink Floyd specifically choose these common anxieties (travel, time, death, money, and conflict)?
Let’s address each of these questions individually:
The case of the album loop:
Following the interpretation that the album is about society and the taboo of mental health related to common stressors, the album looping back on itself could symbolize one of two things. One could be the metal health cycle of relapse-breakdown-recovery, until one slowly spirals or until they finally reach a state of recovery. The other could be that this is something that happens to multiple people as a result of system we live in. People get broken down by their insecurities, by fear and anxiety and hate, and there’s no clear answer to stop it. This could also be tied into the heart-beat pulse that can be heard both at the very beginning of the album, and at the end, which could represent all the people being born and living out their lives under these stressors.
The flow:
As commonly noted about the album, each song flows into each other so well that the album often feels like one long song. This could represent the way stress about one area of your life can impact all the others: anxiety about time, for example, could impact the way one views their own mortality, the way they feel about travel, the way they feel about financial concerns, and the way they feel about conflict. Simply put, most of the time, when a person is stressed about something, it causes them to be more easily upset and stressed by other things as well, causing a cycle.
Common Anxieties:
As for why these common fears and stressors were chosen can be left up for debate. The most likely reason, in my opinion, is because they’re endemic to the human experience in modern society. Almost everyone has been stressed, in one way or another, about moving on and change, about the passage of time, about their own mortality and what happens when we die, about financial security and greed, and about conflict. These are the things that can cause people to go, as the album states, “mad”.
So, what is the “dark side of the moon”? Is it all dark? The “dark side” referred to in the album’s title (and the quote played at the very end of the album) refers to all the things that stress people out in modern society that we keep hidden from each other, just how the view of the far side of the moon is hidden from view from the Earth. The moon, in a lot of Western mythology, is associated with emotions, and the “dark side” could be associated with negative emotions. As for it being “all dark”, that’s a question that one has to answer for oneself. Either way, when viewed through this lens, Dark Side of the Moon’s meaning becomes apparent, and remains insightful commentary about the world we live in. (also, for Prog Notes, you can find them on Spotify and apple Podcast for sure! You’d have to check about other streaming services though!)

Oh.
Honey.
Honey, no.
Tumblr media
Alright. Spoilers for 'Sun has a Plan to KILL ECLIPSE in VRCHAT'.
This is gonna be a fun one.
Trigger Warnings Below for: Cursing.
They really gotta set up, like, a teleporter or something so they can get to GF's faster. I know they don't have magic but, like, get a car? Something? Marathoning over here to the point that an animatronic is losing it's breath is, like, just do something so your not dying every time you have a magic question that's gonna take less than ten minutes to answer.
I know GF wants his privacy and also he's being hunted by every government in the universe or something, but also, like, come on man. Are you really hiding all that well at this point? You get visitors at least three or four times a month, you know? You have kids who wanna come see you.
Oh! I ALSO thought GF wouldn't be affected by the wish. He'll probs figure out real quick what's going on.
That or he's fucking with Sun.
Oh yeah there he goes, literally not even a second later.
I never thought the fucking 'bippity boppity' could be threatening. I'd be nervous too.
"My boy! How ya doin?" Awwwwwwww.
*serious conversation about the power of the Newton Star* *Golden Freddy jamming out on the stairs* Sometimes you just gotta boogie down, I guess.
"You'll need to find another primordial source" Like this one I conveniently have in my backyard!
Sun does not care for magic lore. RIP Sun
didn't they say at one point that there was only one Star per universe? And, that's, like the reason you can't use it in another universe because it's tethered to the universe it belongs too or something?
Newton Star out here with the most confusing backstory of any character on any of the FNAF reactsverse shows.
Maybe it's more of a 'the folks in other universes who have acquired a Star have used it's power so that no one could oppose them.' Lord Eclipse, Lord Lunar, Lord Monty are all the most powerful people in their respective universes, I'm sure they would have just eradicated any other stars/ returned them to their source form so they couldn't be utilized.
Maybe it's different objects. There's just ONE Newton Star. There's Just ONE Star of the North. There is only one object that can do a thing, one star that can grant wishes.
bit cnfoosed.
"You are *dolphin noises* me!" LOLOLOL
Ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm wasn't a faaaaaaaan of the Stan Lee thing mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
Look, okay. The magic shit is always so out of pocket, because, like they just keep adding onto the rules and stuff of magic in the FNAFreactsverse. It's probably one of, if not THE most complicated system in the whole thing because it's built by just slapping more stuff onto this ball of what magic is and how it can be done and stuff. So every episode where they talk about magic or they meet w Golden Freddy is a treasure because I can't take ANY of it seriously.
They just make shit up and it's so fun.
LIKE, DRAGON BALLS NOW EXIST IN THE FNAFREACTSVERSE THEY JSUT MAKE SHIT UP IT'S GREAT
GOLDEN FREDDY IS LAUGHING LOLOLOL
aaand then they ruined it by bringing up the submarine god dammit.
two for two on jokes that were maaybe not so great
Ayyyyyyeeee do you know who ELSE would have the knowledge to make the star via residual memories and stuff because they were in the same body? Someone who has outright been stated to have absorbed all of the magical knowledge Moon had? HMMM?
Golden Freddy is so fun too. He's like. He's timeless. He's been around for a long ass time. He's been divorced, multiple times I think. He's a dad. He has several kids, all of whom are magically inclined. He's lived through the events of the shows more than once and knows what's going to happen. He's from a different universe. He lives in the middle of bumfuck nowhere in a spooky house where it's always raining. He's surprisingly nice. He's the most powerful entity across several universes. He's nearly omnipotent. He charmed his house to jumpscare people randomly because he thinks it's hilarious. He laughed at Moon getting punched in the face. There's a Dragon Ball under his bed.
Sun did the thing! Where you accidentally use a different name casue you've got too many siblings/family members to keep track of and then have to correct yourself. My family does that all the time!!!
Killcode's off enjoying life to it's fullest. I hope getting dragged back into all this shit doesn't end in tragedy for him. We only want good things for Killcode in this house.
It only has to be a good enough reason for Eclipse. Eclipse's reasoning doesn't have to make sense to anyone else. It just has to make sense to him for it to be the thing that drives him.
Sun bobbling his head while he's sarcastically asking GF "Hey! Freddy! Can you zap me home?" was great lol.
Sun this man is a GOD. WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU NEVER THOUGHT TO ASK?
DID YOU NOT THINK HE COULD?
HE SHARED A PIECE OF HIS SOUL WITH YOU DUDE TELEPORTATION IS A BABY SPELL TO HIM
WHAT WAS THE THOUGHT PROCESS HERE Im laughing lol
What fucking voodoo doll?
What?
Is this going to become a legit plot point in the future? I fucking hope it does that sounds real funny.
Poor Sun he's so fucking stressed. He even looks stressed in the thumbnail. Of course the second Moon's gone he's out trying to solve the problem.
That was less stressful than I thought it was gonna be. This was a fun episode. Lore heavy, moving the plot forward, but like not heavy heavy you know? It's a nice reprieve.
I CANNOT take the serious moments w GF seriously at all. I can't do it. "How do you know this?" "Maybe it's because I lived through it once already." "You're not from here are you?" "i'm from many. I'm an amalgamation. I've seen a LOT." My DUDE. You are a FREDDY FAZBEAR. This cryptic shit DOES NOT WORK.

Spoilers for Ep 6 of Rings of Power, Udun:
Wow.
Just...Wow.
I really enjoyed watching this episode. Probably one of my favorites so far. It's just...beautiful. The fight choreography, the cinematography, and that cliffhanger of an ending! I can't stop thinking about it. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time.
This entire episode reminded me so much of the Battle for Helm's Deep from the Two Towers, which has to be one of the greatest battle sequences in all of cinema. The whole battle is extremely well done, even if quite gruesome at times. I truly cannot count just how many things I love about this episode, but I will try to focus on a few of those things.
First and foremost, and obviously the most important:
ARONDIR AND BRONWYN FINALLY KISSED!!!!!
AND HE BASICALLY PROPOSED TO HER AT THE SAME TIME!!! 🥰🥰🥰🥰💕💕💕💕💕!!!
Tumblr media
(Oh, and a nice Yavanna reference too, even if she wasn't referenced by name)
The scene with Bronwyn and Theo had me legit tearing up. It matches almost perfectly the passage from Return of the King, and has to be one of my favorite parts of the book. "In the end, this shadow is but a passing thing. There is light and high beauty forever beyond its reach. Find the Light, and the shadow will not find you."
I loved the battle, although I wish it wasn't as, well, gorey. Like, did they really have to show us that orc blood is black by it literally gushing out of the dude's eye? Did they really have to show us the torturous process by which they're trying to heal Bronwyn's wounds? I kinda wish I hadn't seen that, even if we did get a nice little family moment between Theo, Arondir and Bronwyn.
Oh, and I absolutely adore Isildur's bond with his father, and am glad to see that Aragorn is indeed descended from a long line of horse girls lol.
But its the scene with Adar and Galadriel in the barn that has to be one of my most favorite(and the part I'm going to ramble about the most) scenes in this episode. For one, it's when we learn just who Adar really is. He is indeed one of the first elves ever twisted into orcs by Morgoth, making him one of the oldest characters in this show. Galadriel calls them Moriandor, meaning "Sons of the Dark". So the orcs he leads and calls his Children may very well be his literal blood descendants. (I gotta admit, Im pretty proud of myself for getting that one right)Not only that but he apparently split Sauron's body open because he did not want to sacrifice any more of his children for Sauron's aspirations?! This is the kind of stuff that's got me so invested in this series. I don't care what you think about the show, you have to admit the writers killed it when it comes to exploring the nature of orcs.
But aside from the Adar reveal, the scene actually reminds me somewhat of the Athrabeth in that it's a philosophocal debate between two people and an exchange of beliefs. In this case, it's a debate about the origin of orcs, their nature and their place in the world. I find the whole thing extremely clever in that it addresses how Tolkien couldn't decide on the origins of the orcs. At first they were written as purely evil and created by Morgoth, only for Tolkien to realize that it wouldn't make any sense given his philosophy of "The Shadow can only mock it cannot make" and that only Iluvatar can create life. He went through multiple different possible origin stories for the orcs, from corrupted elves to corrupted men, but he never really decided or stated which one he preferred. Galadriel and Adar's debate on orcs and their place in the world is just such a clever way of acknowledging the many contradictory writings of Tolkien on many different matters.
Adar represents the side who believes(and the side that Tolkien seems to prefer)that the orcs are living beings, and thus creations of Iluvatar who are deserving of life and a home of their own. Adar seeks only to create a new home for his "children" where the orcs can live and thrive in. While his methods of bringing that reality about are certainly questionable, it's honestly quite a noble cause, and one anyone can sympathize with. I wouldn't exactly say he's a good person, but you can't deny the thing he is fighting for is pretty darn selfless compared to the things that Morgoth and Sauron fought for.
Tumblr media
But in Galadriel we see something very different. We see perhaps the most hateful, cruel, vengeful and bloodthirsty part of her we've gotten so far in the series.
I think this scene shows better than any other just how far into darkness Galadriel has ventured. Just how badly she's allowed her obsession with hunting down Sauron to twist her. This Galadriel makes Adar look like a Saint in comparison. I found this on reddit made by someone who was reminded of a certain dark lord and you'll see what I mean:
Tumblr media
Talk about cruel.
Like lady, if you seriously think you can say things like that and still think yourself the good guy, no matter how good you believe your cause to be, no wonder Gil Galad feared you would cause more harm than good. This lady's acting like a sadistic, genocidal maniac. And we can't help but nod our heads at the response Adar gives.
"It would seem I'm not the only Elf alive who has been transformed by darkness. Perhaps your search for Morgoth's successor should have ended in your own mirror."
Ouch.
Absolutely obliterated in just two sentences. Hit em' where it hurts, as they say.
And the worst part? It's all true.
Galadriel has become so blinded by revenge and hatred, she has fallen so far into the dark she's failed to recognize just who she's become. And Adar's mention of a mirror reminds me of ep 1, when in the ice fortress Galadriel finds herself looking at her own reflection in the ice, only to punch through it and find evil there.
She certainly seems to feel bad about it later, and perhaps it's this moment when Galadriel really begins her transformation from a bloodthirsty warrior to the wise sorceress we come to know from Fotr. And of course the crushing defeat at the very end may very well speed up that transformative process.
Speaking of the end-

A Distant Shore thoughts
Tumblr media
Alright well I wanted to talk about a distant shore over the weekend since we didn’t have a new ascension episode come out but for some reason I just never got around to it. I don’t know for me this episode like exceed my expectations. Like I remembered that I liked this episode but it’s literally been 5 to 6 years since I actually sat down and watched the whole show
Tumblr media
As I have said like multiple times in other tags I do have quite a few thoughts on this episode but I’m gonna try not to make the post too long. So a very brief synopsis but the episode starts with a man named Gar Revelle telling about the burning world aka the surface. He talks about riches and adventure and is trying to convince people to come to with him on this journey.
I’m really shortening the story here but Eli tries to find out how Gar knows about the surface and he tries to do it alone but his friends come along only to get into a shoot out. He sends them back to the hideout and finds out how Gar knows about the surface; through his great uncles journal. Eli steals the journal and makes it back to the hideout only to be followed by Gar and his followers. The episode ends with Eli burning his great uncle’s journal and telling his friends about the surface
There were so many little moments in the episode that just shows that slugterra can have some deeper topics. Like when Kord says we trust you Eli we just wish you could trust us to Trixie not even believing Eli at first after he just told them one of his families greatest secrets to even Eli saying the that shane gang is his family. That scene where Eli has to burn his great uncles journal was so heartbreaking to watch. Like how he can’t even look at it and how Burpy closes his eyes it’s so heartbreaking
Tumblr media
All these moments and more show how close they are too each other and how much they care for Eli. I mean they constantly talk about how they are a team and that it doesn’t matter what they are fighting for they just want to remain together. I feel like that’s such a weirdly strong message for a kids show for ages 6 to 10. Maybe I’m reading way too much into it but this episode seems to be about not pushing people away and that it’s okay to open up your darkest secrets with the ones who care about you. And I don’t think I’m wrong in that assumption if you consider Eli’s father
I find it interesting that this episode came right after inheritance because it almost mirrors what happened to Will and Tom Por. Again brief synopsis but Will Shane was keeping secrets from Tom Por who Eli stated was a good friend of his dad’s until he betrayed him. Will was keeping secrets from his friend and when his friend confronted him he lied and instead got into an argument with him and from the looks of it either killed Tom Por or greatly injured him. All of this just to keep the Shane secrets well a secret.
Tumblr media
Will values keeping the secrets of the Shanes more than his friend which is heartbreaking. I feel like you can even see it in his face where he knows that this is the way that things have to be. I don’t think he wants to get into a duel with his friend but if that’s what it takes to keep the shadow talker a secret then that’s the way it’s gotta be.
Eli almost does the same thing even in that episode with the shadow talker when he hides it behind his back but his friends say it would be better if they all helped him out together as a team. And the same happens in this episode. He tries to hide what he’s doing to his friends and he tries to push them away but they don’t listen and they even want to fight for him even if they don’t know what it’s for. Like damn that’s loyalty.
Tumblr media
I think this shows that while Eli and Will look scarily similar they do have very different personalities and different approaches to how to be a Shane. I mean the core principles are there but Eli tries to open up. You could argue it’s because he’s a kid but I think it could speak to Eli having such good friends and wanting to keep them around. Like Eli was left all alone for so long on the surface after his father disappeared and his mother left him that maybe that’s why he wanted to open up to them because he was afraid to lose them. He would rather risk a few people knowing about the biggest shane secret as long as he’s not alone.
But Will didn’t do that he pushed them all away and that caused him to do almost every thing by himself and make impulsive decisions like with Twist’s and Dana’s father. It’s a little messed up that Will expected that Eli acted the same way he did but maybe that’s the only way Will knew. Maybe if Will had a Shane gang his approach would have been different but he didn’t

WTNV quick rundown - 92 - If he had lived
Check out my other rundowns for episodes, shows, book etc here!(or using the tags)
Which came first? The chicken, the egg, or airplanes? Welcome to Night Vale
This episode is about NV's 'National Alternate History Week', in which they celebrate history that could have happened. The Night Vale Historical Society sorts through the local submissions, and the best story gets placed into the elementary school curriculum.
Cecil's submission/story he chooses is wondering what would have happened if Kennedy had lived. Which (according to Cecil) is - first: he would have eaten lunch, he would have gone to Austin, he would have been reelected, he would have pulled the the US out of Vietnam earlier resulting in a different culture landscape and higher population, Jackie Kennedy would have felt no grief (but also be ageless, emotionless, changed).
In 1973: Kennedy is finishing his third term, an embargo in the Middle East results in soaring gas prices (but America is still confident in Kennedy), he saw them through the Cuban Missile Crisis (1962), the Svitz-Franchia Standoff (1967) and the rise of the Blood Space War (1971), he has learnt to multiple himself and visits every single gas station to smile at the long lines of people and fill them with confidence.
He continues to be president through the 70's and 80's where: a bio-pic is made of his life staring mid-level movie star Ronald Reagan (who would soon be washed up), Paul Simon releases his unsuccessful Graceland album about Kennedy's 1982 visit to Graceland, Jackie Kennedy has not aged (may even be younger) and she walks alone at night with anyone who tries to approach pushed back by a faint mist that smells of apple and spice and feels like thousands of needles (witnesses claim her feet don't touch the ground and her arms and inhumanly long).
In modern times, You are our biggest problem and Kennedy (who has been president for decades) wishes to solve you.
In 2080: the coastal regions of the US are being swallowed by the sea, the eighth siege of the great NV temple rages on, the scion of the Dark Order appears, Kennedy brokers a deal with the Sino-Soviet super state to provide safe passage for climate refugees, he says the sea level won't rise any more but it does and millions are displaced, Jackie Kennedy is lying in the rose garden and allowing moss to grow on her feeling like she can almost tell that this alternate history and not what really happened.
Eventually there is the heat death of the universe and everything is reduced down to it's average (beige). The Kennedy's float through space, both vaguely aware that something else was supposed to happen, Kennedy haunted by headaches and vague memories of being shot, Jackie numb to all emotion.
Other alternate histories that were presented this week included: what if Germany had won WWII, what if the South had won the Civil War, what if bathmats were never invented and what if somehow Germany had won the Civil War.
The winner however is that the Beatrix Lohman Memorial Meditation Zone was never built, so it will be demolished to match the new reality.
Weather: "Opposite House" by Cass McCombs
Earlier in the episode Cecil states how bad it would be to lose the meditation zone and that you can go there to be 'relaxed and harvested'.
The Weather Service says that the persistent thunderstorms over west NV might actually be the movements of the Distant Prince. Or just perisistent thunderstorms.
Apparently the moon is jealous of the sun.
OW Josie has fallen and injuried her hip but is recovering well in hospital, despite hospitals being poorly understood. Despite which NV apparently has ghost ambulances and a ghost wing which treats ghost patients and is better quality than the ghost hospital in Pine Cliffs which is a town entirely inhabited by ghosts. Pine Cliffs citizens apparently come to NV's ghost hospital all the time because of this. Cecil says he wishes they'd solve their own problems instead of taken resources away from NV's ghosts.
Stay tuned next for a hypothetical history that we are all making up together, continuously, just by living it. Good night, Night Vale. Good night.

Confused on your takes now?
C said they're the issue cus yikes
But your vent says otherwise?
Were they bad or were you just pissed off because I know them but I'd still like both sides? Any time I try to ask I get directed here
*everybody* was an issue
We get triggered and fall into guilt spirals and bpd episodes/psychosis episodes. We couldn't trust that they weren't just saying things to get us to leave them alone. That has always been a problem we have, the entire time. We've stated and given them multiple times to leave or step away, we have asked them to tell us when we are being too much. They have always said it's okay, so we believed it was that or cause more problems by shutting everyone out. How we react and how we blame ourselves and how close we've been to kxlling ourselves multiple times, the shame and hiding and all the other bullshit. I don't agree with whoever wrote our vent on their final conclusion because it's not something we've ever tried to just dismiss. We've always apologized and had plans to avoid it happening again. But when we're being triggered every damn day and everyone aside from 1(now 3) fucking person was telling us we weren't to blame for how we've been treated. Its fucking hard to believe the one person, so we'd constantly second guess if they were also telling us the truth. That isn't their fault, it was the house we were living in and the trauma we'd been going through since we were like 4? 5?
They were reacting to all the shit that was happening by closing us off, putting the pressure of ending the relationship on us alone, ect. They were also in a bad place, a bad house, a bad life. They are also a traumatized person who *was* trying their best to be supportive, even if it wasn't how we'd asked/needed they were trying to be there. We have never once fucking thought of them as abusive. We know why they reacted how they did. We know why they felt they had to go about it that way. We *were* pissed and the way everything came out on this blog was definitely dismissing the good they have done. We were still in a very triggered mindset and not thinking about how they had helped us. We probably wouldn't have put as much out there if we'd been thinking clearly. That doesn't make what we posted before invalid, we still agree with the message just wish it hadn't been so harsh.
What they did was too close to how we were treated by our actual abuser. We reacted in a fully traumatized way and did a lot of shit that also wasn't okay. We almost kxlled ourselves because the number of lies and hidden shit coming out suddenly at once, often times completely being the opposite of what they assured us was okay. If it had been like one thing or something fucking fine. But to go from "everyone's partners are asleep and have been for who knows how long"(and all of them being ones who had helped with our struggles on top of that) to "we haven't been reaching out to anyone for months"(even though that was *literally* the reason we tried to be okay with opening up more to them) to "how could you call me him? I'm a stereotypical angry protector, you mightve made him angry but that doesn't excuse how he treated you"(but you're treating us how he treated us(minus the rxping) so???? Which is is???) to "oh everyone's awake, they're here again you can talk to them" because "you think we're like him" *when that wasn't even the point we were trying to make*
We hit our breaking point, quite literally. No, we don't think they were abusive, no we don't think we were abusive, we were two fucking traumatized systems who's reactions to being triggered were not being handled well enough. Who's triggers lined up in a bad way that would have continued down a bad road.
They weren't doing it to hurt us, we weren't doing it to make them feel responsible for our inability to regulate ourselves. It just wasn't a relationship that we could continue knowing we'd still be doing all the work to have things be healthy. When every big Talk recently has left us feeling horrifically guilty and like an asshole for even bringing them up
We wanted it to work, to be able to work through it but it was too much for us after everything we'd just gotten out of. Everyone was an issue. Neither side is in the right or wrong. Everyone involved needs to do the work to be a better person.

Explosion boy-critical rant, or more like a comment on fanfiction's interpretation of him but I'm going to tag it as character bashing and censor his name anyway so that ppl who don't wanna read it won't okie
It's really laughable to me how some fanfics interpret the bullying thing as "I hurt you because if I didn't do so others would have done it 3 times as bad, I was doing it to protect you" and such logic was surprisingly not an one-time thing?? That I've seen in multiple fics??
While there were a few (mostly fics that deviated greatly from canon) that managed to pull this off and make b*k*gou's incentive look at least a little convincing within the fic's context, the majority of them baffled me greatly. The top student in aldera with a whole bunch of minions (<– canon) most definitely did not need to do that to shield anyone. If dude would boldly state that whoever crosses his friend crosses him? no one would dare lay a finger on Izuku, at least not when he's around. But because he took such a leading role in the bullying, people jumped on the train to get included and not become the next victim. If there's one person, just one person in the class who dare to speak against it vocally, you could almost guarantee that it would temper down. That's how the psychology of group bullying typically works (as far as I'm concerned), that a few main bully start shits and others whose fear of isolation outweighed their sense of justice follow suit. Would there have been other bullies who's gonna step into Bak*g*u's place as the lead bully if firecracker boy didn't do it? Almost undoubtedly. But as the school's popular guy since kindergarten, I'm also 100% certain that if he wanted to "prevent others from bullying someone", it would've been as easy as breathing.
Now, I'm not chastising the character with durian inspired hairstyle, because the fandom had gone through that many times (though I might again), but that one would need to put up a better argument if they wanted an excuse for certain behaviours. Because this? This is not a convincing one (but I also feel the need to reiterate that fanfiction doesn't have the responsibility to be realistic, I'm just expressing my irritation at lackluster logic). I couldn't help but feel like some people just... Perhaps got too used to the idea of "boys are rude to you because they like you" or they have never witnessed group bullying situation. (Which is fine btw and I don't wish anyone in that situation) I guess it's just a bit of my pet peeve and if b*kug*u could at least admit it was his insecurities (still much work to do ahead) you could too my dear
Also, just a side note, Bak*go* redemption fics where Izuku tried to convince others that "it's the school that failed him it's not his fault"? Like, I'm not excusing the school obviously they deserved to be burnt to the ground and it did feel in character for Izuku to ask others to forgive mr dynamite, but also have you considered that just in the beginning of the story, in the midoriya origin episode, it was pretty clearly stated that the bullying and name calling started way before their quirk manifested and before they went to kindergarten even. Of course also before the whole "falling into river" shebang. So tbh I have a very hard time to wrap my head around why he would bully Izuku (and evidently others, as we saw Izuku tried to stop bkg and his friends from kicking another kid) aside from being born like *that*, and in general I just find the "his school failed him" argument also lacking in some way.
Anyways this has just been on my mind today and I wanted to rant a bit to someone that's not my sister (who is unfortunately subjected to a lot of my mha rantings while not into it) lol

Ep. 11 Angelstone
The longer Apotheosis progresses, the more concerned I am for Peter and Rumi’s relationship, and after episode 11 I’m super interested to see where their dynamic is taken. Cue Angelstone rant:
Rumi is always showering Peter with praise, telling him how he’s perfect, he’s all Rumi wants, he’s more than Exandroth, he’s destined to be great and loved and powerful. And Peter, of course, preens under the praise. He’s a normal-to-below-average dude who has been constantly ignored and cast aside his whole life, and suddenly a gorgeous, tall perfect-looking celestial figure with magical powers and a sparkly sword shows interest in him-- of course he’s going to respond! It’s understandable! But this sudden influx of praise from one person, particularly one he’s in a relationship with, can be dangerous considering his overall mental state because Peter is slowly becoming used to being appreciated. It’s easy to fall into trap of feeling like he may owe them something in return for their love-- favors, loyalty, a relationship he may not fully want or one that isn’t good for him. From Peter’s perspective, the only people who are willing to appreciate him in this way will only stay with him if he helps them, submits to their will, or spends time with them. He may try all manner of things to win their favor out of a fear of rejection by the only people who have reciprocated his love. Although this may not happen, and if they handle it right in the future, it makes their relationship more volatile to become toxic.
Peter’s codependency from a past of emotional distance and dismissal makes him reliant on Rumi--although he genuinely loves Rumi, that love is shaped by his past and it may influence Peter more than he thinks. For instance, Charlie has said multiple times out of character that Peter is only following along because he wants to be with Thanatos and Rumi, the only people who have ever given him the time of day. (remember, he may be doing this because he feels that he has a debt to the both of them, although I’m speculating bc it hasn’t been discussed much in canon) In episode 11, he challenges their goals outright and says he disagrees with their motives, but he stays anyways. He compromises his own values for Rumi and Thanatos because he’s lonely and he won’t stand up for himself. If he’s showed a propensity for bending to others’ (especially Rumi’s) wishes, he’s definitely primed to do so in the future--and that could be dangerous, especially in a partnership, because it leads to an imbalance of power.
Plus, Rumi’s dynamic with Peter is becoming more and more concerning, especially after their relationship became explicitly romantic in episode 11. A bit after the hour mark of that episode, there’s a moment that stuck out to me: Rumi and Peter are discussing their goals with Thanatos, and Rumi makes a comment that there’s no point to arguing with him, because obviously Thanatos will never understand Peter the way that Rumi does. And later in that episode, Rumi becomes competitive with Thanatos for Peter’s attention, becoming easily jealous and giving Peter gifts so he doesn’t feel closer to Thanatos than to Rumi. Rumi, whether he realizes it or not, has a significant amount of influence over Peter because he controls a majority of his life, (leading their adventure, choosing him, claiming to have divine sight that shows him the future, which he needs Peter for, emotional stability with a lack of loneliness or dismissal, etc). By separating Peter from Thanatos, the only other one in the group, he is isolating Peter and making him more reliant on Rumi himself. He is assuring that no one, not even Thanatos, can be trusted above Rumi. These are not the only instances of this either-- a lot of Rumi’s dialogue after the Fade to Black in episode 11 is truly unnerving to watch.
tl;dr: Although they may not be trying to establish one, Angelstone is showing signs of building an unbalanced power structure in the future, with Rumi on top, that will probably lead to a toxic environment for them both down the line.

Come chat with me about the episode below the cut:
So we learned just an inkling more about Beau this episode. He talked a bit about the differences between Montana and Texas, which I found entertaining. We still didn't get anything about his ex-wife or his divorce, which I'm dying to know about.
Can I just say how much I'm loving the empathy he shows to the suspects they deal with. Like how he was in the first episode with the Mom who just wanted to see her daughter before she was taken away. He told Hoyt to give her time to hug her daughter and say goodbye.
Then in this episode the way he was with Ivan was very sweet. In the beginning, the way he took the chance that Ivan wasn't going to shoot them, putting his gun away to show that belief and his encouraging little, "Come on Ivan." we're so sweet. Then at the end, convincing him that the swindler wasn't worth going to jail over. I love that empathetic streak in him.
I have to say I was very disappointed that Beau didn't get to punch Avery In the teeth and that he doesn't even know what happened!! I certainly hope he discovers it at some point and gets to use him like a punching bag!
I like Emily a lot and I like that she tried to reach out to her Dad with the Sat phone that she was denied. I really like how tenacious she is, and that she went after Avery for being super sketchy. I also love the little dig she gave Avery when she was saying she wanted to go back for knife because it was special to her. "My FATHER gave it to me." Loved that.
Oh, and Avery is sketchy af!! I so wish Emily could reach Beau because if she could reach him, her concerns might even end up helping Cassie and Denise reach the right conclusions.
Ooh, the scene where Cassie almost saw the backpackers body in Walt's truck?!! She was so close! That was a great tense scene!
I don't know what to make of Cormac, he kinda skeeves me out, but I can't tell whether the show wants me to feel that way, because he's a red herring, it because there really is something up with him! Aaahh!!
All the scenes with Walt and Sunny continue to be creepy af. Their dynamic is so dysfunctional and weird!! Love it!
Now to the stuff with Jenny x Beau x Cassie!
I appreciate that they're trying to do a slow burn with Jenny and Beau, and as I stated, I will take Jensen Ackles in a love scene with ANYONE!! But I really prefer him and Cassie. I like their relationship more, but I also just prefer Cassie's character to Jenny's. I just can't really like Hoyt. It's partly my issues with Kathryn Winnick, but also, I just find her character kind of abrasive and unlikeable most of the time. With Cassie, she's a badass and she gets the job done, but she's also warm and caring. Jenny always just makes me wanna slap her a little. Lol!
I did find some sympathy for the character though in this episode when she was talking with her Mom, cause you can see she really wants to trust her and a part of her wants to think her Mom came back, at least partly, to see her. So when she finds out, nope it was just a scam, I felt bad for her.
Anyway, those are my thoughts on the episode, please let me know yours!
P.S. I had to "rewind" and rewatch a couple great shots of Beau's ass - multiple times in this episode. I also found it remarkably hot when Ivan was telling him to get back down, or he'd shoot him, and Beau was just like, "No." And then when Ivan is like, "wtf did you say?" again Beau is just stone faced, and like, "I said, no." It was just such a badass move!!
I reiterate, Beau Arlen is gonna kill me.

Tgamm S1 E3  ¨Getting the Band (Shell) Back Together/ The Greatest Concert Ever¨ episode analysis
Tumblr media
The first double part episode of the series introduces more of Brighton history and its citizens as well as exploring Scratch’s place in the Mcgee family. It’s also a musical episode, having more song sequences that your normal episode.
The first segment ¨Getting the Band (Shell) back together¨ highlights Molly’s desire to help other people and make the world a better place. This was previously explored in ¨The Unnatural¨ with Molly trying to help the local softball Brighton team. In this episode we see that she really wants to restore an important part of the town that was destroyed decades ago.
It’s nice to see Molly genuinely trying to connect with her own community and bringing people together to rebuild the bandshell. Both segments deliver well this message of trying to work together with friends and neighbours to fix issues you find in your town or city through charity events for example. It does it in a way that it doesn’t feel preachy to the people watching it.
On that note, this episode gives us a bit of Brighton lore. There are multiple things through out the series that hint that the town used to be a happier place but for some unspecified reason this sense of community and joy started to dissappear over time. That’s why it is sweet seeing the elderly and the teenagers from the softball team hanging out together after they finished rebuilding the bandshell at the end of the first segment.
Another important theme of this episode, which is the more emotional conflict of the characters, is Scratch starting to consider himself part of the Mcgees. Throughout the two segments Scratch states multiple times that he isn’t a Mcgee and he is ¨one name icon¨ yet he is seen playing with Darryl in the first segment, inviting Molly to go to the park and trying to help with Molly’s project in more than one occasion.
Scratch at the start of the show is clearly someone who has a hard time opening up to others. He struggles with expressing his affection and part of him fears that others find out that ,in fact, he cares about others. He tries to be in denial of how he truly feels but as much as he wants to ignore it, he wishes to have friends. I would even argue that in this episode he doesn’t realise he is genuinely starting to like the Mcgees until he sees Molly giving up in the second segment. He tries repeating to himself that he doesn’t care care about anyone, grabbing his head and flying in circles. He finally comes to terms with the reality that he doesn’t like seeing Molly being sad and that he wants to find a way to help her.
In this occasion, Molly and Scratch’s relationship has developed into a sibling/ uncle-niece sort like relationship. Scratch teases Molly a few times with how her plans aren’t going to work out but he never attemps to stop her. From Molly’s side, she likes to mess with Scratch doing a ¨told you¨ dance when people end up coming to help with building the Bandshell. It gives the impression that she has become familiarized enough with him that she knows his bad habits and has no issue with showing when she doesn’t approve of something that Scratch does.
The rest of the Mcgees have some good moments as well. Darryl making sounds with his toy, Sharon revealing a few things about her past (which i hope it does gets explored in Season 2!) and Pete being supportive of Molly.
On the songs, i enjoyed the music from both segments quite a lot. Although, if i had to chose, i would have to say that ¨Just Give¨, both the normal version and the reprise version, are some of my favourite songs from the show. There is something very sweet about them. They have a nostalgic feeling that makes me happy when i listen to them.
In conclusion: For being the first double part episode, it’s a solid one. It introduces the themes of the series and some minor characters, the songs are nice, there are some hilarious moments and great character development. I’m not sure if i would put it under the same quality as other double part episodes, still, it’s great.
