Aight, new headcannon that I'm sharing here:
Gus looked up to Adrian Graye as a master illusionist well before Labyrinth Runners.
I imagine Gus got inspired by his dramatic flair and theatrics when he was younger, which helped him to gain a further interest in illusion magic.
This is not to say that he wasn't already interested. I think Gus just really liked illusions for the creative aspect as well as the trickery behind it. (As well as having a natural talent for it)
Then along came Adrian Graye and Gus started to see them in a different light. A way to wow and amaze people with dazzling displays of showmanship.
It would explain why he introduced illusions as "magic with a hint of showmanship" as well as why he likes to entertain crowds of people as shown in Enchanting Grom Night.
Then it all takes a turn for the worst during Labyrinth Runners. Where his world comes crashing down further as he learns that the person he looked up to is loyal to Belos/evil.
Then its gets worse for him when Graye tries to brand him with a sigil, then later try to locate the galdorstones by basically hacking his way inside Gus's memories.
I think hypothetically, if we got a full season 3, we could've got a scene where it addresses Gus's feelings about the person he admired helping the villain the whole time and the awful things he did to him too.
Kind of similar to how it was explored with Norma and Pauline Phoenix (although minus the singing lol)
This could also go for other Hexside students too. I guess maybe Skara and Raine, Willow with Terra, and even Amity and Darius. Although for Amity it would be different since Darius is a part of the rebellion which would have been really interesting to see.
Everyone. We could've had something like this in a full season 3. Again, we were robbed and I'll keep saying it.

Do I have brainrot or is Normal Oak a Starkid-coded nerd? Like, this chipper cheery mascot kid WOULDN'T sing "Cool as I Think I Am"??!
To me, Nerdy Prudes Must Die is a tonal match for the teens...

like yeah sebastian if not turned in becomes an auror to repent for killing solomon blah blah blah but i raise you
defense against dark arts professor sallow.
spent all day at work thinking about it so now yall gonna listen to it.
so, as a dada professor, sebastian is pretty much a mix between crouch!moody and lupin.
hes still a firm believer that all magic is a tool and the outcome depends on person using it, and every spell can be deadly.
there are people that have bad intentions, like rokwood. and then there are also people too prideful and too ignorant, to truly understand and respect the power theyre wielding, like him.
and how is a killing curse any worse than blowing someone up with bombarda or burning them alive with incendio?
theyre all deadly in wong hands.
now hes here to make sure his students understand that power they have access to, and be responsible about it.
so hes a humble mentor, concious and filled with respect for his power, like lupin. teaching his students to be like that too.
and hes also the first to show what a spell is able to do with a person, and that includes unforgivables. because what are you gonna learn from the book?
"unforgivable curses are called unforgivable because they are very bad"?
theory doesnt sound very convincing to a sixteen year olds, does it now? hed know.
so he shows his students, like crouch!moody did. and theyre scared, perhaps. at least he made sure he showed them what it really means to cast a curse on someone. made sure theyll remember and understand. because it changes you, hurting someone like that.
because he doesnt wish for his students to deal with what he had to.

I鈥檓 obsessed with Godzilla -1.0 now.
As you can maybe tell by me reblogging posts about it throughout the week lol.
Like oh my god. That movie. That movie.
That climax was the first time my heart was legit beating out of my chest at a movie climax. Most likely because I cared about the characters so much.
Because the human drama. Man, it got me good. My words can鈥檛 do it justice, and others have done it way more justice. Go watch it. I beg you. GO WATCH IT.
I commissioned plushies of Shikishima and his found family from a Colombian because there was only merch of Godzilla it was so good and I like the human characters so much. It was so expensive but so worth it. 35000+ yen, guys. And counting!
Unfortunately (fortunately) I can鈥檛 write much fanfics about it because it鈥檚 a self-contained story, but I hope this fandom grows.
