A/N: I ACCIDENTALLY DELETED THE DRAFT AND THEREFORE THE ASK WAS ALSO DELETED, IM SORRY— alright, hopefully you'll enjoy this nonetheless, thanks for asking! I'll try to find the person who asked for this prompt later.
And so, this ask is Raihan x Female! Reader, the prompt is displayed above.
━─━─━━─━「₪」━━─━─━─━
You sip your bottled tea as you watched Raihan battle the opposing gym challenger from the bleachers; to say you're amused was an understatement. The dragon tamer never ceased to amaze you everytime he's in a battle, regardless if he reigns victorious or fell down in the depths of defeat— his match is always wild, numerous of fans shouting for his side as he let the sandstorm take over the stadium, enveloping it in a rough weather.
The fans were alright though considering the stadium was perfectly designed for these type of things, protecting the said viewers from the harsh effects of the weather— which Raihan takes pride in, looking at how his technique consist of taking advantage of the weather to boost his pokemons powers.
This is what makes you baffled with his performance every time. Even if you already became a Champion that rules over Galar, you didn't look down on him, and you're not planning to.
Occasionally, the dragon tamer would lock eyes with you, sending chills down your spine as his cerulean eyes stare right through you, followed by that signature smug grin of his in which his fans has grown a liking to. You gave him a gesture of support by clenching your hands accompanied by a determined look on your eyes. He noticed your small action and gave you a thumbs up before focusing on the match infront of him once again.
Some fans mistaken it as him looking at them, and they immediately melted on the spot due to that misunderstanding. Though you didn't pay any mind to it, you dont want to ruin people's happiness anyways, just let them be.
After the earthshaking match, which Raihan managed to reign victorious, he gave a hug to the challenger, and telling them that there were no hard feelings involved. Luckily for him, the challenger was still determined to try harder for a rematch in the near future, and they can ensure Raihan that they'll be the one taking victory home next time they meet.
Raihan saw that as a challenge and he's going to get stronger, he wants to give his best at every match, that's his job after all. Losing just wont do for him.
When all of that commotion ended, you approached the said dragon tamer with a smile dancing on your lips and arms open wide, incase he wanted a good ol' hug after the match.
You know him so well, of course he wanted a hug, and its from you— you.. you're his crush, not that you know it, its a new thing for him too. He took an interest on you when he saw you battle at the Championship Cup, reaping the victory without any effort; you're strong, you're tough, you're more than what you seem, and Raihan liked that part of you.
Though on other times, you're also clumsy, careless, and mostly oblivious. These trait of yours just amplified your attractiveness level to Raihan; strong and oblivious usually doesn't match with eachother, yet you managed to make them mix well, creating... you.
"Good job on the victory!"
You planted your face on his chest, burying your head in the warm feeling of his hoodie, and trying your best not to get tiny little sand stuck in your head. It'll be a pain in the ass to clean up later if you did. Your arms wrapped around his lean waist, hugging him as tight as you could to show him your affection.
Raihan responded well by hugging you back and ruffling your hair, saying a light 'thanks' along the way. Maybe without your support, he would've lost this round, and other rounds from before— no matter, he should just focus on the present, where you're hugging him in the middle of the stadium... infront of his assistants. Not to mention Leon is also watching, accompanied by chairman Rosé.
The dragon tamer then pulled back after awhile, he knows this affectionate act of yours doesn't have any meaning behind it. Just a hug you gave to your bestie after his gruelling match; it has became a habit at this point, and you didn't even notice that. Raihan did though, he paid attention on every little details about you. From the way you dressed, to the way your expression changes over the time, that even he notices the smallest shift in your mood during the day.
Silence began spreading between you both, and its getting kind of uncomfy. So you decided to break away the tension by helping him dusting off the sand on his body, and his features. The amount was quite a lot, and it's going to take awhile if you really want to remove all of the tiny bits of sand from the previous match. You even thought about suggesting him to not use the sandstorm weather next time, it's really getting troublesome and somewhat irritating to handle. At least for you.
"Stay still im helping you clean up" you said as you reached for his headband. He didn't want any help in cleaning up this time, considering that Leon is here, and few of his assistants—lets not forget about chairman Rosé whos observing from the sidelines, possibly being held captive by Oleana because of work reasons.
Raihan then gripped your arm as he tilted his head a little bit back, preventing you from reaching his tangerine headband "No need princess, i can clean it up by myself" he grinned, trying to hide the embarrassment thats slowly growing inside him.
Sure he might be a man of confidence, pride swelling on his chest with each step that he takes, but the poor dragon tamer only could handle so much when it comes to you. All that pride and confidence washed away just like that, and thats all because of your damned adorable oblivious trait.
You were determined to take off his headband, even if that means you need to use all off your techniques on him. This time, you only relied on your obliviousness. You really dont know what effect it has on him— you didn't even know if your oblivious trait has an effect on him at all! But you saw him blushing a few times from you being genuinely curious about something, so its worth a try.
Raihan was completely caught of guard when he looked down at you and your determined eyes; it was different from before where you're supporting him, he cant tell whats really different, but it just hits diffrent. You reaching up with Raihan gripping your wrist, warm eyes locking with his followed by a small curl on the edge of your lips as you felt him slowly reducing his strength in the effort to prevent you reach for his headband.
This only resulted in him looking away, blush subtly creeping on his cheeks as he tried to avoid eye contact with you. The Great Raihan would never be embarrassed in such a situation, hell, he'd be the one to make you embarrassed! But this time, apparently the odds were in your side , and you're grateful for that.
The thing you didn't understand was; why is he blushing? You didn't do anything, you only tried to take off his headband in order to clean it, and yet when he locked eyes with you, a tint of blush appeared on his chocolate skin, in which he attempted to hide it by looking at anywhere but towards your direction. This was a great opportunity to make him blush more, dont you think? Its rare to see Raihan blush out of nowhere, and you got to see it up close! A way great opportunity, you couldn't bear to pass this chance.
With a gentle push forwards from your body and him being off guard, you two tumbled down to the ground below you with a loud 'thud' ; Raihan covered your fall by pulling you close to his chest, which makes you comfortably land on his body instead.
"Honestly," you trailed as you got up from your position, lifting your body up with your hands on each side of Raihan's head before looking down onto him with a joyful grin plastered on your face "You're cute when you blush, Rai" you chirped, followed by a soft laugh. The position you guys were in wasn't quite the best to see without context. But you couldn't care less, you two were only having a wholesome bestie moment— yet Raihan might be freaking out inside because, oh Arceus, what is he gonna explain to Leon and the Chairman himself? Him blushing just makes it worse and doesn't help him out at all.
His eyes finally dared to look into yours again while a sigh slipped past his lips "You're just teasing me," he exclaimed as his lips curl into his usual relaxed smile; shades of blush still not leaving his face "Again." He added, hands reaching up to pull you back down onto his body, loving the way you fit inside his embrace just perfectly. He's way taller than you, meanwhile you could be accused of 'tiny' compared to him. Thats why he liked hugging you so much, even if you're just teasing him.
He doesn't care if you know his feelings or not, he's just happy that he could hold you like this without any care in the world right after his tiring match. Though he still does have a lot of explaining to do the the Chairman later, and possibly to Leon too.

Pokemon Sw/Sh Hug Headcanons
my first time actually posting headcanons, just thought of this and it made me happy
(under the cut b/c it’s pretty much all important/recurring characters minus Swordward and Shieldbert b/c,,,i don’t like them)
Hop: Quick, tight hugs. He’s hyper, and doesn’t have time to have a long hug with one person, he wants to hug everyone right NOW! Only exception to this is if he’s comforting someone, or he’s being comforted himself. In times like that, he’ll just let the hug last a bit.
Leon: TIGHT HUGS, AND BEST HUGGER IN GALAR!! Who do you think Hop gets his tight hugs from? Lee will squeeze you, pick you up in the hug, and just hold on for a moment (i just really need a hug from lee, i think we all do). Will keep an arm around you after the hug, just to keep you close.
Sonia: Gentle hugs, usually a brief side hug. Unless you’re Nessa close to her, then it’s a full on hug, tight and with a kiss on the cheek. Pulls away so she can look at you and talk, but keeps her arms around you.
Professor Magnolia: She’s a grandma! Of course she gives good hugs! Very gentle since she’s old and kinda frail, if you squeeze her she’ll probably laugh, or demand you let go. Could go either way.
Bede: Oh, this bastard. He’d act like he hates hugs, like he’s too good for them, above some stupid show of affection...But as soon as someone he can tolerate hugs him, he doesn’t want them to let go. Loose hugs, just puts his arms around the other person gently. However, if the other person squeezes him, he’ll squeeze back tighter. He’s not losing to them in this “who can hug tighter” game.
Marnie: Very gentle hugs. She’s gotten confident since she started the Gym Challenge, but is still pretty timid. Basically just a shy kid/teen that feels kinda awkward with hugs, but also kinda likes them and wishes there were more chances to hug people (totally not speaking from experience here).
Chairman Rose: Gladly gives fans hugs, and accepts hugs if he has time...Usually he’s too busy though, having Oleana pull him away from anyone that wants a hug. His hugs are quick but firm, usually patting the other person on the back.
Oleana: Not a hugger. But if she does let someone hug her, she’s very light with her hugs. Just a quick embrace, probably just uses one arm, not even a full-on hug. If she’s hugged unannounced, she just calls for security. Do not hug her if she doesn’t explicitly tell you she’s okay with it (i mean, same goes for anyone tbh).
Milo: YOU ALREADY KNOW THIS BOY GIVES 10/10 HUGS. Do you see his arms? Those arms probably feel like pure comfort and affection. He HUGS his pokeball when he Dynamaxes, so I imagine he will hug you on sight. How dare you enter his line of vision and not prepare for a bone-crushing hug. Definitely pats the other person’s back, kisses their head, and lets the hug last a while, squeezing real tight before letting go (Piers and Rai may be my big faves, but Milo gives off Amazing Hug Energy).
Nessa: Kinda like Sonia, she gives gentle hugs. A bit firmer than Sonia, though. She’ll rest her head on the other person’s if they’re shorter, or rest her head on their chest if they’re taller. Gentle as heck.
Kabu: Grandpa time. Gives quick hugs, patting the other person’s back/shoulder before letting go. If you’re close to him, he probably hugs a bit longer and tighter (guess you could call it a warm hug??).
Allister: TIMID. Do NOT try hugging this boy, he’ll get uncomfortable. If he initiates a hug, he’s very gentle, and still extremely unsure. Hug back, but GENTLY. Don’t squeeze! He WILL get upset, and Gengar WILL come out to defend his trainer! Really comfortable with the other gym leaders, though. Will occasionally run to Melony, Bea, or Raihan for a hug.
Bea: Also not the biggest fan of hugs, but if you ask her for one, prepare for a tight hug. Will make you regret hugging her, squeezes until your back cracks.
Opal: Another grandma, but different hugger. Picky with who she hugs, and when she does hug someone it’s usually light. She’s frail, but don’t underestimate her. Will trick you with a hug sometimes, gentle at first...But will squeeze the HELL out of you...Just because she can. Worst part: You never know which hug you’ll be getting. Loves keeping people guessing.
Melony: For an ice type user, she give the warmest hugs. Very snug grip, pretty much cradles the other person in the hug. Will reassure the person she’s hugging if they need it, or just ask how they’re doing. If someone needs a hug, she’ll be there right after Lee. Her battle style is brutal, but her hugs are so, so gentle.
Gordie: Oh, you want a hug? Sure, he doesn’t mind hugging a fan! Gives pretty tight hugs, pretty quick ones too, definition of “bro hug”. Pats the other person’s back, will ruffle their hair when they pull away (he has like 4 siblings, he’s pretty skilled at hugging).
Piers: Big fave time. He has a lot of fans, and a little sister, so he’s become pretty comfortable with hugs over time. Quick hugs for fans, tighter and longer hugs for Marnie. If you’re close to him, he gets pretty flustered with hugging. If someone else initiates the hug, he gets pretty shy and flustered, but hugs back gently. If HE initiates it, expect a tighter hug (nothing bone-crushing, but just very firm), a hug that’ll last a bit before he decides that it’s been long enough. He doesn’t seem like the kind to be into hugs and touching, but actually probably craves it.
Raihan: SECOND BEST HUGGER IN GALAR (since he’s Lee’s rival). Will hug you tightly, pick you up in the hug, spin you around, and not let go for a while. Also expect videos and selfies, he’ll let Rotom fly around to capture the hug. Has probably recorded himself hugging every gym leader + Lee by surprise, just hug-tackling all of them out of the blue to get a reaction. This resulted in Gengar chasing him, Opal lightly hitting his head with her cane/umbrella, a very flustered Piers, and Leon totally expecting it, and hugging even tighter.
Avery: Ew, a hug?? Fine, but only because he feels bad that you’ll never be as great as him. Another case like Bede, except he’s genuinely somewhat uncomfortable with hugs. Only seems truly comfortable with hugging Mustard and Honey. His hugs are pretty light, nothing extreme.
Klara: I know next to nothing about Klara except that she’s similar to Avery. But judging from that, I assume she’ll hug reluctantly, very light, and shove the other person away when she thinks it’s been too long. If someone asks for a hug, she’s smug about it. Why, of course you want a hug from her, she’s the best!
Mustard: For an old man, he gives stupidly tight hugs. Hugs like a Bewear, blames that on being the Dojo Master.
Honey: Quick and tight hugs, will gush over the other person like a proud mom if they’re close. Actually, even if she’s not close to someone/has just met someone she’ll hug them as a greeting.
Hyde: He’s probably more of a high-five person. Only hugs his parents, and high-fives/fist bumps everyone else. Super chill inventor kid.

Out of all the evil teams I feel like gen 6’s team flare really lacks in comparison. Let’s compare:
Team rocket is the og bad guys. They wanna steal Pokémon and they’re essentially the mafia of Kanto and Johto. Giovanni is the og bad guy boss right up the street and it’s fitting he’s the final gym leader. I’m glad at least he wasn’t the champion.
I guess the new team rocket fam (Archer, Ariana, Petrel and Proton) are cool but not as iconic as Gio.
Team magma and Aqua have somewhat understandable motives but what makes them iconic to me is that it’s really clear that Maxie and Archie have no intention of harming any of their teammates. I think team Magma/Aqua are the only guys who show care for their admins etc.
Team galactic is iconic in the sense that Cyrus is a subtle nutcase. He doesn’t act insane but his goals are outrageous and each admin is iconic and differentiates from each other. Mars is the chill one, Saturn is the cool and restrained one whilst Jupiter is shrewd and ruthless. Also Pokémon managed to create a character in one of its manga series where they did the trope of the “ex-team bad guys member”. If you’re curious on who I’m talking about, I’m talking about Mitsumi from the diamond and pearl (not pokespe) spinoff manga. They lay subtle hints on Mitsumi’s strong battle prowess and her strange afflictions with Cyrus and the fam. Overall Mitsumi and team galactic are iconic for me as a gen 4 kid.
Team plasma raises the ethical issue of Pokémon battling and I like how they tackle it. Especially with N, who has lived a sheltered life and now after BW decides to define his own purpose, truth and ideals. It’s a massive step away from your standard “be king pin”, “create a new world” despite Ghetsis mostly using it as a guise to eventually seize control over N. The split dynamic of liberating Pokémon and letting them choose is really cool and now that I’m older, I can appreciate the story of gen 5. N reminds me a lot of Mitsumi in a way and I’m really intrigued if we get to see him more in the future.
I haven’t played Gen 7 but I’ll get to it eventually.
Team Yell are ok, they’re a nuisance to deal with but at least they’re not out right trying to kill anyone. I also like the twist they pulled with Rose and Oleana. I think it’s ok I guess.
And now we have Gen 6’a team flare. This is one of the most defining characteristics of Lysandre.
Sycamore: whattup “player character” this is my buddy: Lysandre.
Lysandre: ABSHKDIGOGKCBIE I WANNA KILL EVERYTHING AND MAKE EVERYTHING BEAUTIFUL HURR DURR
Sycamore: Isn’t he a charming chap?
Yeah thoughts on the bad guy teams of Pokémon?

“You really like that thing huh?” Raihan asked. Six o’clock on a Sunday morning and he had just gotten done with a meeting over a idea call. The rain was pouring down in Hammerlocke and both Rose and Oleana didn’t want Raihan braving the weather to come up to Wyndon for just an hour and a half before going back down.
Even all Corviknight cabs are no longer coming to Hammerlocke anyways, the rain pounding particularly hard. Though not hard enough for one pink God to brave just to get to Raihans warm humble abode at four-fifteen in the morning.
Mew purred in agreement. Lazily tolling back over to look at Raihan who was standing in his kitchen in nothing but a loose tank top and some camo printed pajama pants. She sneezed and her tail flicked wildly as her ring paws reached up and rubbed at her nose.
What Mew was laying in was something Raihan did as a kind of DYI craft thingy. It was a small hammock for smaller sized Pokémon that could be hung up around any kind of room in an apartment or house, and Piers has just accuse destroyed his small bean bag chair with his sharp ankle and arm brackets last week. It gave Raihan something to do in the city wide lock down. He had made the little hammock and made sure to hook it up by one of the windows in his house, no doubt and Applin or another smaller Pokémon he would gain from his many fans would love it before Raihan sent it off to his grandma in Alola to keep her company.
But it looks like Mew had laid domain over it. “Glad you like it,” Raihan reaches up and gently rubbed under the Goddesses chin, “I was kinda thinking of you while making it.
Mew started to purr extra loudly, like a small engine before turning back over so she’s facing the window and watching the rain try its hardest to pound against the plexiglass.
Raihan turned back to the stove, deciding to make some tea after a few months of just straight espresso coffee, and sighed while chill music drifted from the living room Tv speakers.

💡 (for any of your muses and either of mine)
Listen. Twitch streamer Oleana and ASMR artist Rose. They’re roommates.
Sometimes Rose posts a compilation of bloopers where he could hear Oleana’s muffled screaming through the wall and ruining Rose’s shot. Rose’s expressions during those moments have become popular reaction images on twitter.
Rose being a guest on Oleana’s stream and having No idea what’s going on in the game but he’s having a blast anyway.
Oleana and Rose being basically Game Grumps, with Oleana’s hair-trigger temper and Rose’s Endless Chill.
Hilda crashing Oleana’s stream by deciding that Now It Is Time For Hugs And Cuddles.
Hilda purring for 30 minutes being one of the most viewed videos on Rose’s channel.

Make It As Right As Rain- Pokemon SWSH Fic
Bede discovers the truth about what Chairman Rose has been doing behind the scenes of the League, and his world comes crashing down around him. Luckily, he has friends to help him pick up the pieces.
This is based on this post I made about the game’s potential conflict! You can also read the fic & give kudos on AO3 here!
The muddy, red dirt splashed against Bede’s knees as he collapsed to the ground. Rain sloshed down the sides of his coat, easily running off the surface but dripping down into his sleeves and collar as he reached up to claw at his scalp. The water seeping into his leggings was so cold, shocking his body as hot flashes burned white light behind his eyelids as the world turned to a sickly dark gray.
It was like a hoard of Wheezing had passed through, the sky was so thick, the air turned to smog as he struggled to breathe. He had stumbled away from the city, from the League in a daze. When the argument had exploded in Chairman Rose’s office, when Gloria had burst in with Leon and Hop and began hurling accusations he first thought it was all a big joke. Gloria had just lost twice to the eighth gym in the League, Hop hadn’t been doing so well either, and there were always tabloids spouting lies about his father, and he had laughed at the lot of them for such a pitiful display. Bede had defended Rose by saying that Gloria and Hop were merely trying to blackmail their way through battles they couldn’t win due to their incompetence, but inside he knew that wasn’t true. Leon was standing there, and although he was Hop’s older brother, Bede knew deep down that he wouldn’t stake his position and title on something like this if it was all a lie. Same with Gloria, as Bede watched the girl’s mouth twist into a frown and her recoil behind Hop with hurt at his words, something inside told him things were very wrong.
“I’m sorry, Bede,” Leon had said as he produced a pile of evidence, setting the items on Rose’s desk. Copies of photographs and contracts with the man’s signature on it caused Bede to freeze. His eyes skimmed over only a few of the titles, but suddenly all of the puzzle pieces came together in his head.
“Fa- Chairman…” Bede corrected as he swallowed the lump in his throat, and turned towards the man beside him slowly, “None of it is true, is it?”
When the man had merely laughed and gestured for Oleana to put in a call, Bede was horrified as his sister’s lifeless eyes glazed over the intercom system as she phoned for security.
He was brushing past Gloria and Hop and shoving his way through Leon’s stupid cape as he sprinted for the door. Men in black suits got to him anyway, even as he was racing down the stairs to reach the glass doors underneath the blinking exit sign. They picked him up by the collar of his coat and began to toss him around as he struggled violently in their hold, but then there was the noise of a Pokeball opening and the roar of a familiar Obstagoon and the men were reeling back in pain, dropping him down the stairs and Bede was crawling, scrambling to his feet before his palm was smudging the crystal clean door as he burst through it and out into the rain.
The city was a blur as he charged through it, head tucked as he banged into people, tripped over Pokemon on deliveries, and knocked over displays as he tried to find somewhere, anywhere, away from all the noise and screaming around him. Cars honked as he flew in front of them as lights turned green, someone set their hands on him when he slammed into their back and he tried to move around them swiftly. It was probably a kind person, with nothing but the best intentions as she spoke to him calmly, but instead Bede flailed like a child and ended up slapping her as he broke away and back into the storm of the city.
Eventually, through a long tunnel and over a bridge, he broke through into the Wild Area, the whistling of the wind through all the greenery tumultuous and loud as thunder picked up and Bede sunk down into the path. He didn’t know what to believe. He had spent his entire journey defending his father, deflecting any sort of gossip he heard on the road with a resolute, crushing victory over some pathetic trainers, breaking into fits of word play with reporters when some sketchy magazine broke through to comment about a suspicious event. Shady deals done in a warehouse behind one of the gyms connected to the League, why Rose decided to sponsor him of all trainers, and what he planned to do once he became the next Champion.
He spent his entire life hiding in a big skyscraper, hiding what he was, where he was from, who he was from. When he was given his first Pokemon and showed his strengths to his father in a test Oleana had arranged for him, he felt pride when he was handed the “deal”, a contract and sponsorship that even though it was “strictly business” equalled acknowledgement, pride, love.
Now those hexagons on his back were burning holes through to his heart, scarring him as he inhaled smoke and fought to breathe. His hands fell from his head and instead reached for his throat. He was choking on nothing, his face was covered in sweat and everything was mixing with the rain and falling down into his mouth as he coughed and inhaled and inhaled again as he sucked up more and more but the tight feeling in his chest continue to constrict and bind him.
He felt like he was going to die.
Something dark shot across his vision and then there was a splash by his knees and a hand on his shoulder. Someone was kneeling in front of him and trying to get him to lift his head. The hand on his shoulder was hot, like everything else. Like the air that was swirling around him, the air that he kept shoveling down his throat but instead it piled up like gravel. He continued to pant and gasp and the hand disappeared. Darkness kept jumping in and out of his vision as he blinked the tears away, eyes opening wide in desperation as he continued to suffocate.
There was pain across his neck and then the fire was on his hands. The person was tugging his wrists down and away from his throat, pinning them into his lap as they leaned forward and brushed his hair back causing him to flinch, a caress turning into a strong grip as they jerked his chin up and settled their thumb harshly against his cheek.
Gloria’s warm brown eyes bore into him as she stared him down, mouth set into a thin line. She was never much for words, he was shocked when over an hour ago she had the voice to bite at his father with such an unwavering confidence-filled tone. Now, that he was locked on her, she let go of his face, and gestured.
Watch me. Follow me, or something in between. Either way, Bede watched her shut her eyes and open her mouth, sucking in a deep breath. She waited a second, then let it out. She opened her eyes and waited. Bede tried to do the same. When he exhaled, his gaze dropped to his hands, which were tangled together and pinned down by one of her own. He froze up, she loosened her grip, but forced him to look at her again. She breathed in and out again. He followed. She smiled and nodded, beaming as she continued. Slowly, it got easier and easier for Bede, and finally, the air around him became tolerable again.
She let go of his hands finally once he had settled, her forehead pressed against his as they finished their last exercise before she pulled away, fishing through her bag for something. Bede merely watched her curiously, wrapping his arms around himself as the chill of being rain-soaked began to settle in. Gloria’s warm hand came up to touch his again and suddenly he was being pulled to his feet, and her gentle voice-
(Where had that been when they had been in the office? The one that had always spoke in whispers when they were huddled in caves, been nothing but kind to him even when he brushed her off with curt words and harsh, brutish shoves to any of her meager offerings of food or a listening ear.)
-Her gentle voice told him they needed to get out of the rain, and she tugged him along, a strong hold on his rough skin, covered by a glove that had been streaked in blood from scratches along his neck.
Interestingly enough, the shelter she chose was one of twinkling stone and red rocky walls, an old mine cart resting by the entrance, a few lanterns flickering on the walls. They had fought in this specific cave before, a few times outside of when they ran into one another in the waiting rooms of the stadiums. He liked it better here, in the quietness of the outdoors, the echo of the cave deflecting only the noise of their commands and their Pokemons’ shouts and attacks instead of the voice of authority stumbling in to stop their quarrel, telling them to save it for the big stage. There were no eyes in here, and as Gloria led him away from where the wind and rain still reached inside the cave’s entrance, she sat him down beside a boulder and dug out what she had been holding inside the bag since she found him.
A first aid kit.
She helped him take off his jacket and pulled out a sweatshirt from within her bag, setting it on the ground next to them as she reached forward with a cotton pad dabbed with some antiseptic and reached towards him. She spoke to him quietly, explaining what she was doing, and Bede tilted his head back as she rolled down the collar of his turtleneck, skin tight and waterlogged and beyond constricting even when she lowered it. He stared down at his bloody nails, long but jagged in some places from roughing it a few times on his journey. He must have broke through the skin when he felt like he was choking, but even now his brain couldn’t find any rationale behind that. Was he trying to create new holes for air to pass through? He didn’t even register the pain during the entire event, so it was a stupid, subconscious decision, really, he scoffed.
“It’s not stupid,” Gloria said, as she finished pulling out some band aids from the kit, and Bede realized he had spoken all of that out loud, “I didn’t… I shouldn’t have done that in front of you. I didn’t know you were in there when we went in but we should have requested a private meeting but we had already come so far and… I’m sorry,” she deflated finally. Bede shook his head.
“I can’t say that- that I’m happy that you did such a thing, but,” he swallowed, looking down at where her hands fidgeted with the wrapping on the bandaid. Her clothes were soaked through too, and her cardigan made from Wooloo wool was beginning to smell, “I’m thankful that you did. I… I always pretended to not know, but I had a feeling and… well I frankly don’t know where to go from here but I’m hoping you might have a better solution to all this than just stopping here.”
He looked up from underneath his wet bangs and she was grinning, and so he smiled back. Granted, it was still more of a smirk than a smile, as she pointed out much to his embarrassment, causing his arms to come up and cover it up, but it continued to grow wider and wider with each giggle from her throat.
After a short while, her brother Victor arrived, looking much more prepared for the rain as he tipped the Corviknight taxi before he stepped inside, shrugging off a poncho and handing over a spare pair of dry clothes for Bede to change into from his bag.
Behind the boulder, he tugged off the layers of water from his body and slunk them onto the cave floor, their weight instantly seeping out into a puddle as he slipped into the warm, clean clothes that were a bit too big or him. Gloria and Victor’s voices mingled over the firelight that spilled orange over the rock and shimmered angst the jewels on the cave walls as he rounded the rock and hung his clothes up to dry on a line they had drawn up over the fire. Gloria was still hanging something on her side, dressed in her damp, smelly clothes still. The rainwater shimmered golden in the glow against her as she turned to him. She was trying to hang his coat up, but the weight of the packs on it kept flipping it over and causing it to tug almost the whole line down.
He stormed over towards her, and gruffly nudged her away.
“You seriously can’t figure out how to take these off? You could have at least emptied them. Or just thrown the whole thing away, I don’t really want to look at it anymore anyway.”
His hands fumbled for a moment before he got the first pack off, letting it fall to the floor roughly before he worked on the ones at the sides. Gloria folded her hands behind her back, and stood beside him.
“But it’s important to you. I couldn’t just do that.”
Bede blinked twice in astonishment, before he turned back as the other two packs fell off and hit the ground.
“Go get changed already, I can take care of this,” he managed to hide his face as a blush spread across it.
Gloria just stepped away and picked up the sweatshirt she had folded on the ground, extending it to him to wear. He took it from her as she scampered off, scooping up her bag before she dashed behind the rock. Bede finished up and managed to lay his coat evenly on the line and buttoned it up a bit to help hold it on. They didn’t have any clothes pins, so it would have to do. Victor gestured for him to sit down and handed him a bottle of water. Once Gloria rounded the rock in her clean, dry clothes too, they broke out the food and began to “feast”, as Victor put it.
There was much to do tomorrow, like Bede had said, they couldn’t just leave everything be now that they had brought it all forward. Throughout the night, when things got quiet, every so often the list of worries would come to the forefront of his mind and he would begin to get worked up again, but each time, Gloria, and sometimes Victor, was there to calm him down, bring him back with a smile or a corny joke or a giggle or some food to give to him or his Pokemon. With Victor’s Wooloo in his lap and Gloria’s Obstagoon guarding near the entrance, Bede watched the firelight crackle and dwindle as they all got ready to rest, and he wondered why for the longest time, he rejected this warmth.
When the cave at last had gone dark and the noise had faded, he pulled up the hood of the sweatshirt and stretched his legs out, careful not to disturb Gloria who was sleeping against his shoulder. Victor stretched a blanket over the three of them and sat down, crossing his arms as both siblings walled him in. Bede leaned his head back against the rock and breathed in the scent of wet earth as the ceiling of the cave disappeared when blackness crept into his vision. This time it was gentle, soothing, and natural as his muscles relaxed and he succumbed to slumber as well.
***
I just wanted to hurt Bede, there’s no excuse for this fic other than that. Sorry, lol.

miss oleana! the plot rehaul for her is obvi making it look like shes connected or the real Big Bad, like oh she writes all his speeches and is like on your ass all the time and hes just a himbo figure head, when you beat early low level grunts theyll be like dont tell the boss i lost, she'd be soo mad! with midtiers ones being like please dont tell miss o-----!!! and high tier ones actually name dropping like miss oleana wont like this
Tumblr media
(Did You Know her name comes from olive and not oleander? like thats a clever bit of misdirect for the english audience only unless the characters used in olive can also double as a poison pun!)
(this pkmn is like macro cosmos aesthetic/rose’s aesthetic and a shiny! he has tons cause hes mega rich duh)
(ability: contrary, moves:wring out, giga drain, dragon tail, leaf storm)
Tumblr media
(dude the canon lore for her is wild shes the vice president AND the invented of the bands?? i guess she is in a lab coat, i think it be kind of suspicious to have  secretary also be a vice president so im going to drop that aspect of it? or maybe not, i mean, im also softening his overt tises to it, so maybe she can be straight up the president of macro cosmos with his intention for her to take the fall as Just the hapless owner, shes like the league secretary, ill decide fully for that later i do like her at the forefront of the science end tho thats fun! )
(ability: queenly majesty, moves: fell stinger, defend order, heal order, attack order)
Tumblr media
(her actual pkmn theme is bugs!)
(ability: shell armor, moves: twineedle, quick guard, x-scissor, megahorn)
Tumblr media
(her pkmn kind of tell the story of Her)
(i want to treat the standard form as the shiny! its like rose aesthetic)
(ability: telepathy (with an including avoiding physical attacks in single, real niche use abilities are so -_- sometimes and this makes the ability feel more formidable but gets weaker when theres More minds like more mental chatter?) moves: magic coat, infestation, protect, future sight)
(she dynamaxs this! and uses g-max gravitas of course)
Tumblr media
(in this nuzlocke rose has her take the whole blame for like the leon thing and fires her rather public like, so shes devastated enough to help you later)
(ability: aftermath, moves: strange steam, toxic spikes, toxic, self-destruct)
Tumblr media
(but cause shes fired like that, she isnt arrested when everything gets Known and she’s all like,,,wow,,,he saved me,,,,,)
(ability: corrosion, cross poison, gunk shot, belch, explosion)
(incidently she makes this one big as well and uses g max malodor and I CANOT BELEVIE HOW SMALL THEY MADE ITS MODEL FFDGDFDF??? like fast ignoring that, her double use completely drains the power of the tower)
(the air terrain is high altitude! fire attacks do less damage, ice attacks are boost, flying type pkmn have their speed increased while ground will have their speed decreased, or something like that!)
-----
battle 2
(im imagining some kinda Post Game plot where you can challenge her again, but its like, chill, with an updated outfit so its more obvi shes wearing a labcoat and her colorscheme is like blue and green! maybe there’s a good ending where she works with prof magnolia and maybe opal as prof poplar as a consultant and where hop interns? finding a non-dooms day event solution to the energy problem? maybe figure away to use pkmn energy in a way thats not like super fucked up, perhaps?)
Tumblr media
(ability: tinted lens, moves: whirl wind, poison powder, hurricane, draining kiss)
(i almost want to give it rage powder cause thats what her role is in the game a bit, if i do ill swap out draining kiss and have you fight a double with prof in training hop?)
(anyway im imaging it like, lets test out this renewable clean energy and she supersizes her butterfree!)
Tumblr media
(ability: telepathy, moves: helping hand, ally switch, after you, reflect)
(see! shes nice now! also this pkmn is kinda build for co-op ally helping which is interesting for a mad scientist themed bug?)
Tumblr media
(ability: battery, moves: sticky web, vise grip, charge, wild charge)
(this battle is probs taking place outside somewhere? its just as likely to think that prof m has a testing field in her labs basement or smthing)
Tumblr media
or
Tumblr media
(ability: contrary, moves (standard); petal blizzard, lazer focus, dual chop, leaf blade)
(moves (shiny): aromatherapy, solar blade, defog, safeguard)
(ooo sinister implications! i have an idea in Mind to give it branching endings with like interactivity? this sharing stuff im doing rn might be oversharing)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(type: fighting/bug)
(them not being bug without any like lore about them pretending to be a bug in while makes this feel like You Know Of Mario? What If!! Poke mon! and i hate that)
(ability: friend guard, moves(shiny): first impressions, heal order, no retreat, megahorn)
(ability: mold breaker, moves (standard): first impressions, attack order, no retreat, megahorn)
(this is kinda difficult cause most of her in game personality is wrapped up in working for rose, so i hope this gets across’d that shes her own person, but fell into stuff)
Tumblr media
(if the last two were shiny an abra will be here)
(ability: unburden, moves: protect, light screen, trick room, embargo)
Tumblr media
(if the last two were standard itll be a kadabra)
(ability: neuroforce, moves: miracle eye, psycho shift, telekinesis, future sight)
(i always felt they were like fckd up insects with the mammially stuff meant to look like withered skeletal flesh guts caccon rather than anything 1:1 animal like alakazam lacks a tail cause these two spent two gens removing them from their body, gen1 had like monster design coherency that newer gens sometimes lack and the coherency was All about those ears)
(i tried not to grab anything from mythos/plot pkmn from other gens but that kinda drives the altering pkmn for gains?)

Blind Shield Nuzlocke Notes 9
-After feeding him an ungodly amount of curry, Snowball evolved into a Frosmoth, boing HV the Toxtricity, Freight the Coalossal, Riot the Falinks, Echo the Obstagoon, and Nosferatu the Dreadnaw on my League team
-Side note, while I was grinding Snowball up to level fifty I swapped my main team for the backups so they wouldn’t get over leveled. Loraine evolves into a Centiscortch and Lord Tophat evolved into a Weezing
-Second side note, I just realized I accidentally used the letter L twice, ruining my naming convention
-On to Wyndon, which is based of one of the largest cities in Europe (the biggest?) and is so big it has a monorail to get around
-Oh god, there’s a guy offering a trade for a duraldon in return for Snowball. I am tempted, but no
-“Prepare to see all the forms of rotom” where’s fridge and fan you liar
-Idea: make a ground type bike rotom catchable next gen
-So an Alcremie almost one shorted Snowball but he held on because he has high affection. Thank god for curry
-“How many companies does Chairman Rose own?” He’s so obviously evil
-Screw What I said about Chirchester, THIS is a fancy hotel
-Ah man, no monorail animation?
-I gotta say, Windon is a bit of a disappointment. It looks amazing, but there isn’t a lot to do, especially when compared to Lumiose or Castelia. I can’t even ride the London Eye!
-“I feel like Challenger Blinkin has a balanced team, but he doesn’t have any way to decisively win” say that to my face bitch
-Hop and Marnie are at the stadium, bet I’ll face them and Bede in the championship
Team going in to the challengers cup, all level 55:
-Freight the Coalossal, caught in Galar Mine. Holding the rocky helmet. Knows Rock Slide, Heat Crash, Bulldoze, and Tar Shot
-Riot the Falinks, caught on South Route 8. Holding the Muscle Band. Knows Brick Break, First Impression, Close Combat, and No Retreat
-Nosferatu the Dreadnaw, caught in Giant’s Cap. Holds the Assault Vest. Knows Liquidation, Rock Slide, Crunch, and Ice Fang
-Echo the Obstagoon, caught on Route 3. Holds the leftovers. Knows Night Slash, Obstruct, Take Down, and Brick Break
-High Voltage the Toxtricity. Gifted on Route 5. Holds the Chiice Scarf. Knows Overdrive, Poison Jab, Boomburst, and Toxic
-Snowball the Frosmoth. Caught on North Route 8. Holds the Shell Bell. Knows Bug Buzz, Aurora Beam, Blizzard, and Quiver Dance
-Only four trainers competed the gym challenge. How interesting considering I have three rivals
-Wait, that means I won’t fight one
-Leading with Snowball because I have a feeling Marnie or Bede will be the first opponent
-And it’s Marnie, not surprising. I assume Hop will be next
-I just got quiver dance literally a minute before this battle (rare candies) and its perfect to take out Marnies dark team
-Also no healing or switch mode I’m deciding
Marnie
-First up is Liepard, predicting a fake out and going for quiver dance
-It used Torment. Gg, Marnie
-Next up is scrafty, dynamaxing to make sure aurora beam takes it out
-Marnie sent out Toxicroak, I did the same thing. should be able to take out all of the troublesome Pokémon before dm runs out
-Out goes her signature, more people, who goes down in one hit
-Marnie sent out grimsnarl as my dm ran out, going for another bug buzz
-And she gyantamaxed and almost killed me with snooze. But I lived
-Full sweep by the new guy
Hop
-And Hop is my opponent in the final. Am I the only competent trainer is this country?
-Predicting Corviknight as his lead, so HV is mine
-I honestly want to lose someone, just because Hop deserves a win
-Oh, he started with Dubwool
-Overdrive, cotton guard, full restore overdrive, overdrive, dubwool dead
-Hop switched to Snorlax. Riot would be better, but I’ll stick with the overdrive strat
-Oh shit almost killed me with high horsepower Riot it is
-And a brick break takes it out
-I think I’m a bit over leveled
-Hop sent out Corviknight, switched to freight, tanked a scary face
-Dynamaxed, took it out with heat crash after tanking a steal wing
-Pincuring barely survived a bulldoze. I took it out afterward, but I won’t have dynamax to take on Rillaboom
-Big monkey used mass quake, it almost killed freight, and somehow took no damage from heat crash
-Switching to Echo to stall the dynamax with obstruct
-Oh dynamax bypasses protect that’s fair
-Whatever, we’re on an even playing field now. Time to use double edge I learned from Beating Marnie
-Used obstruct to get a bit of hp because I was below half, took it out with two night slashed
-Well, he didn’t kill anyone, but he got close, so he should feel proud
-Now to take on Leon
-Or we can get takeout that’s cool too
-The apocalypse is going to happen before I fight Leon, isn’t it
-Fuck off paparazzi
-“Beating Hop was just luck” HAHAHAHAHA
-“Hop was just the rival a knew he was” a bad one
-“Think you can win the finals” Yes I’m the main character
-How does this work, plot wise, if you lose?
-Oh, Leon’s missing. Of course he is
-Leon’s at badguy’s base I was right apocalypse time
-Also, I don’t recall being able to go to rose tower. This implies windon is larger than I thought
-Piers doesn’t want the finals delayed...perhaps because the leaders are fought in the finals!
-That’s How we fight Bede because he’s balloon tower defense’s leader now
-TEAM SKULL ARE MY MINIONS NOW!
-The monorail goes through the Ferris wheel that isn’t safe
-Oh look Oleana is interfering because she’s evil
-Let’s go find the douchebag wearing sunglasses at night so we can mug him
-Okay, this dumb motherfucker decided to hide his sunglasses not by taking them off, but by staring at a goddamn wall
-God I’m over leveled
-Team skull helps me out!
-It took me 20 minutes to find the man in the phone booth
-Piers took our enemies with rock music!
-This tower is hella evil
-Murder elevator tower
-So I started this tower with Snowball out front and they only use steel types so I have to keep switching to Freight
-Also Hop starts with a dubwool the shit man
-Take a chill pill Ole
-Wait, you want to stop me so Leon can’t fight me so he’ll be sad and manipulable? Seriously?
-Frosslass, Salazzle, Milotic? So beauty/feminine pokemon
-Oh shit leg onion almost killed Snowball with acrobatics
-HER FINAL POKÉMON IS A GARBADOR YES!
-And I used my dm on Snowball so I’m taking this thing out with a non dmed HV
-It has boats it’s trash island just like galar
-Nevermind, HV’s almost dead. Switching to Echo
-Tanked two blows, time for night slash
-Ha! It uses toxic spikes!
-It did it again now it’s dead!
-Oh wow hand drawn image
-Leon’s still a good boy! Also disaster in a thousand years what
-Oh, Rose isn’t an evil coal baron. He’s an evil Elon Musk. So normal Elon Musk
-Wait, we aren’t fighting him? He’s...he’s evil! We know he’s evil! His minions tried to kill us five minutes ago!
-Whatever, it’s champion time
-I’ve been here before, Hop. I fought you here
-All of the leaders are in the lockers its rematch time
-Wait, no Bede or Opal
-I have no idea who I’ll be facing. Riot is up front I guess
-Bede’s back bitches!
-Oh shit, Riot is my lead. Wait I have a dark type I’ll be fine
-How did he even get here isn’t there security
Gym Leader Bede
-He’s starting with a Mawhile, Switching up his style
-Oh right Mawhile is a fairy type I should have switched. Whatever, it’s dead now
-I actually don’t have a good counter for gardevoir. Nosferatu cause he has an assault vest I guess.
-Dont use a full restore you little bitch
-Gardevoir down, onto Rapidash. The one that doesn’t explode when it sees a rock water
-This thing is so goddamn girly I love it
-I’m pretty sure it’s psychic, but I don’t know for sure so I’m cautious on switching to Echo
-Ha! Psycho Cut doesn’t affect me!
-Oh shit dazzling gleam. NVMD it did jack shit
-Good News: rapidash is dead. Bad news: my dark type only has 21 hit points
-Switching off Set makes the same so much more difficult I should have done this from the start
-Bede switched to hatterene and gygantamaxed
-OH GOD IT SMITED MY SNOWBALL AND ALMOST KILLED IT
-Okay, back to Nosferatu
-Okay, Nosferatu’s almost dead, back to Echo
-Switching to stall out dynamax is such a bullshit strategy
-Scouted with Obstruct, it used dazzling gleam
-Switching to Freight because she’s my only Pokémon who isn’t poison type or almost dead
-Took next to no damage, now for a max flare to end this
-GG, Bede. I know this is faint praise but that was the toughest rival battle in the game
-Okay, now for the real leaders
-I know I’m not fighting Raihan or Milo cause they’re fighting each other, so I have to worry about Water/Fire/Ghost/Ice/Dark for my first match. Nosferatu is the best for that lineup so he’s leading
-Okay, it’s Nessa. Not great, but I was tempted to go with freight instead of Nosferatu so it could be worse
Nessa
-First is Golispod. Eat rock slide
-It emergency exited to baraskewda, Switching to HV
-OH GOD DRILL RUN NEW PLAN RIOT I GUESS
-You know what? Not saving the dm. Riot flutterbied barraskewda to death
-Oh no, pelliper. Flying types are bad for riot. B: Drizzle
-It tanked a Max knuckle and used tailwind I’m fucked
-Switching back to Nosferatu. Took out pelliper but took a ton of damage. I’d switch, but the next Pokémon is a pelliper and I’m not a coward
-It almost killed by with waterfall but it’s dead now
-That leaves golispod and gm Dreadnaw. I’m going back to riot
-Killed golispod with first impression because irony
-Riots almost dead, but a close combat brought it low. Switching to Echo
-A powerful offensive move that lays stealth rock that’s broken.
-Onstruct to tank, then kill it with night slash
-OH GOD IT OUTSPED ME AND KILLED ECHO WITH LIQUIDATION
-HV barely survived the stealth rock, but Echo can Rest In Peace now
-Accidentally clicked away from the tournament screen, only saw that Piers went on. Going in pretty blind
-Replacing Echo with Warrior the grapploct. I know it’s doubling up on fighting, but it’s the only box Pokémon up to snuff
-Used some tms, current moveset Waterfall, Superpower, Brick Break, Dig
-You know, this tragedy would have been averted if I allowed healing
-Okay, making me fight the Ghost leader right after my Obstagoon dies is a dick move, game
Allister
-Is this a horrible set of working conditions destroying the games industry? CAUSE ITS CRUNCH TIME
-Duskinoir? CRONCH!
-Polteageist? CRONCH!
-Chandelure? Liquidation, actually
-Cursola? DYNAMAX CRONCH!
-Gygantamax Gengar? IRONIC VORR MONSTER CRONCH!
-So yeah, I griffin McElroy’d Allister to death
-Next up is Raihan, then Leon and Rose and box doggo and the ending. But I’ll handle that tomorrow cause it’s 2:30 AM and I got school tomorrow
-I mean, it’s in the afternoon, but I also have homework due at the start of class

Pokémon Sword Avatar Challenge Playthrough Part 12
This is it, folks!  Our second to last update and our last update of the main game (the pre-credits game).  It’s been an enjoyable playthrough using some fun new Poke-friends that I hadn’t gotten a chance to use before.
If you missed Part 1, it’s available HERE. If you missed Part 2, it’s available HERE. If you missed Part 3, it’s available HERE. If you missed Part 4, it’s available HERE. If you missed Part 5, it’s available HERE. If you missed Part 6, it’s available HERE. If you missed Part 7, it’s available HERE. If you missed Part 8, it’s available HERE. If you missed Part 9, it’s available HERE.   If you missed Part 10, it’s available HERE. If you missed Part 11, it’s available HERE.
Let’s go beat the Champion!
We gear up to go into battle against Leon, but oh?  Oh my. Rose has apparently lost his mind. Well, what to do.  I mean, obviously go stop him from absolutely destroying everything.  I’m telling you, if Macro Cosmos had just invested in renewable energy we wouldn’t be in this mess.  Now we have to save the planet.  Again.
We go with Hop back to the Slumbering Weald to find the Sword and Shield Pokemon of myth.  Gee, wonder how the games got their names. Amazing.  I love our mother watching us run off into the place we’re forbidden to go where we passed out last time after hearing that Rose is trying to recreate a storm that almost destroyed the region and she’s just smiling and waving like “I’ll make pot roast!”  Muuuuuuum….
We gather up a boatload of goodies laying on the ground, including TM86 Phandom Force, one of my favorite moves which absolutely no one on our team can learn.  Of course.  We meet up with Hop and as soon as he mentions the fog it gets even worse.  And out walk the two Pokemon of legend, all chill like “Yeah, what’s up?”  I’ve gotta say, the shrine for the sword and the shield is a gorgeous little cut-scene. That place looks really cool.
The sword and the shield are rusted and worn down, but I’m sure they’ll still be usable because plot.
We head to Hammerlocke to meet up with Leon at the stadium.  Raihan is waiting for us outside to basically warn us that things are bad.  I mean, Rose is trying to summon the Darkest Day, so yeah.  We head inside where Oleana has apparently decided to stop being crazy long enough to be helpful.  Helpful enough to drop the big name: Eternatus.
Does the basement remind anyone else just a little of where we fought Xerneas/Yveltal in X/Y?  Just me?  Okay.
Rose is so dedicated to protecting the future that he doesn’t care what happens to the present, which is astonishingly poignant in many ways right now.  At least he looks like he regrets it as the angelic choir kicks in.  (“Seph-i-roth!”)  His line-up is so Steel-type heavy that Okama the Centiskorch pretty much one-shots his way through with just a quick Hyper Potion from us since he’s a little slow. These Macro Cosmos battles were why we took the time to replace our Orbeetle and Vanilluxe to get a Fire-type on the team.
I’m so glad giving Rose a beat-down was enough to bring him back to his senses.  Too bad we didn’t manage it before he decided to cause the regional apocalypse.  We take the lift up to the roof and yeah, okay.  That dragon is… not intimidating?  Maybe it would have been before Giratina.  But whatever!  Leon’s got this.  He’s just got to toss a Pokeball and… oh, right.  It’s never that easy.  Thanks, Charizard, for the quick save!
When Eternatus wants to battle we take it down quickly with Aleyla’s Psychic blasts.  Easy peasy!  But, of course, Eternatus isn’t going down so easily.  It rises up into the sky like a black hole above the roof and, yeah, okay.  *That* looks much more intimidating!  Good job!
We just have to stick it out for a couple of turns while we’re unable to move.  This feels familiar.  Hop has the idea to raise the ancient Sword and Shield and, interestingly enough, it works!  The ancient Pokemon hear our call and teleport to our rescue or something.
Now it’s four-on-one with possibly my favorite version of the regular battle theme.  That high piano?  That guitar?  Dude. Xacian and Zamazenta are ready to fight, armed with the legendary tools of war.  It’s a good chance to see what each of the legendaries does with Xacian hitting a Howl and Zamazenta immediately putting up Light Screen.  Us nailing Psychic is doing about as much damage as the Behemoth moves, so Eternatus goes down in no time at all.  We get the chance to catch it, and we have one Premier Ball – I can’t resist.
The sun comes out, showing that we’ve ended the Darkest Day!
I think they could have really expanded this part of the story, personally.  But okay.  It is what it is.  Most of my complaints with this game are about the rushed legendary plot.
Three days later we’re back and ready for the Championship Match.  Before that, I do pause and take a look at our Eternatus.  Technically since it’s a Poison-type, we could chuck it onto the team.  But it’s only level 60, actually five to nine levels lower than our base team.  It’s Lax nature so more Defense and less Sp. Defense with the ability Pressure which is really not that interesting.  Oh well.  Just curious.
We go to the stadium and face off against Leon.  Stupid pose and all!  I send out Rajuna the Greedent again Aegislash to nail some Bites since we won’t need Rajuna for most of the fight and she can tank Sacred Swords.  The Attack drop from King’s Shield is a pain but not enough to keep us from taking Aegislash to a sliver before Leon uses a Full Restore.  On our very next attack we land a critical hit Bite, taking Aegislash down just like that.
The only option for dealing with Seismitoad is Makuda the Flapple.  One Grav Apple is double super effective and ends that Seismitoad before it can let off a single attack.  Makuda is just too good, you guys!  Team MVP.
Aleyla the Mr. Rime goes up against Haxorus, but we get hit with a brutal Iron Tail that brings us down to a single hit point!  How do we survive?  Our first Freeze-Dry freezes Haxorus!  We’re going to do this!  Except… Haxorus thaws on the first turn?  We only have one hit point!  Haxorus goes for the finishing Iron Head – and misses!  A second Freeze Dry takes it down.  That was a rollercoaster from start to finish!
We switch into Amal the Dreadnaw to deal with Cinderace, the evolution of the Scorbunny neither Hop nor I took at the beginning of the game, which is a precious little call-back.  Not so precious that we don’t destroy it with a single Liquidation, but still precious.
We go back out to Makuda to deal with the Dragapult, pitting dragon against dragon (dragon wins!)  We get some unfortunate Paralysis as we trade in and then awful luck getting paralyzed against Dragon Breath and actually have to pull Makuda out and switch Okama in.  Makuda, we were just praising you!  Okama can hit hard with Crunch, enough to end this battle.
The last Pokemon is his Charizard, and this is what we’ve been holding Haku back for.  Charizard is faster and Gigantamaxes, getting off a Max Rockfall that is very, very fortunately not a Ground-type move.  But then his next move, G-Max Wildfire, is enough to take Haku down.  That… didn’t go as planned.  We send out Okama to make the sacrifice as we use a Max Revive on Haku, but it wasn’t actually necessary.  In a moment of sheer irony, the sandstorm caused by Charizard’s own Max Rockfall does enough chip damage to take it down.
I’ll… I’ll take the W!
And just like that, we’re the new Champion of Galar!  Look at the pride on Mum’s face!  Look at Hop’s joy!  Of course Bede and Marnie are too cool to smile, but you know they’re feeling it too. Ooh, fireworks!
