A/N: Ah hi guys! I don’t really know where this idea came from, but as soon as I had it, I couldn’t let it go. Today was my first day of spring semester classes, and this helped me destress a bit. Enjoy :)

Harry,

I thought about calling you the other day, but you know me and how I get. I like to overthink, and that’s exactly what I did. I was terrified you would pick up, despite the part of me that aches with a desperate desire to hear your voice -- speaking just to me, whispering words meant only for my ears.

I’ve called before, as you’ve probably come to realize by this point. I used to tease you for holding onto that ancient landline, the one that rings maybe once a month with calls from telemarketers. Now I suppose it must ring twice a month, which remains insignificant, and yet you greet your callers with earnest each time. I’ve come to both dread and anticipate the click on the other end when you answer, and I await your cheerful, “Hello?” even moreso. No longer am I laughing in the background or placing soft kisses on the back of your neck as you set the phone back in its place, grumbling about “bloody advertisements” and how you wish they would just send promotions in the post instead.

And so here I am. Heeding your wishes. Your very own letter, Harry. Of course, you receive countless of these, but not to the same address. Collecting hordes of fanmail from the post office is not quite the same as the postman dropping one off at our your home. I suppose the clank of the mail slot is a welcome relief after the incessant ringing of phones.

I used to curse that landline’s shrill ring that always seemed to interrupt the best moments, but you loved it, said it was endearing. I hope you love the sound still now, even knowing that when you answer and your only reply is the click of the caller hanging up, it is my number on the other end.

All this to say that I could have called you, of course, but I was a coward. Quite reflective of who I was near the end. I couldn’t handle the issues we faced, which should come as no surprise seeing as I cannot even handle dialing your cell phone into my own. Perhaps a part of me fears that if I heard your voice -- the voice you saved just for me -- I would crumble. At least this way, you don’t have to respond. You may not even open this, and I could be writing only to myself and the universe.

But if you do -

If you do open this letter, I am writing to tell you that I listened.

I listened to your album, to the copy you sent me.

Your fans are going to love it. The whole world is going to love it.

I love it.

I must admit that I cried and yelled throughout most of it, listening over and over until I just felt . . . numb. It is perhaps worse, I think, when the tears begin to flow without any effort, when you hardly realize you feel hopeless.

And then, on every listen, the last track would begin to play. With the sound of the instruments, I could physically feel my heart swell, and I knew one thing for certain. I suppose you said it best: that we’ll be alright.

I could feel the heartbreak that you poured into every note, and I felt my own reflected in it. Even worse, it seems, were the moments of joy, of faith. I can only hope that they, too, are about us.

I should not be surprised at the magic of this album. Everything you touch is golden.

We’ll be a fine line.

This became incredibly long and poorly written im sorry lmaofhfn but I’ve been composing this story in my head for weeks so there’s so many details😭😭😭 well I put it under the read more <333 also pls picture either harry answering fanmail or harry in the golden mv but in a prince Philip from the little mermaid outfit for this lmaofejfn

Soooo hear me out Harry is a prince in a far away land and outside of his prince duties he loves to play music he loves art and he doesn’t like the high society life so everyday once he’s done at the castle he travels to the forest near by and there’s this enchanted place hidden behind the bushes deep in the forest and there’s a pond and a small waterfall and a big tree with a huge branch and it’s so beautiful and he comes here everyday to play music and write and sing and every day the nature around him in this little hidden haven responds; the wind blows to the rhythm of what he’s playing, the water dances around when he sings and he just feels so at home and safe in this place he leaves little offerings and gifts

he doesn’t know exactly what it is about this place but there’s something there that he loves and then one day he’s talking to himself about a song he’s writing trying to find lyrics and he feels water dripping down on his forehead and he catches a glimpse of someone perched up on the branch watching him but they disappear before he actually can make a form out of them and he tries to shake it off but everyday he discovers a little bit more of whoever is hiding there; he hears a giggle when he’s playing out of tune, humming when he plays the strings of his guitar, a foot print in the wet grass and everyday he talks to them without ever seeing them reassuring whoever lives there that he won’t harm them and that he wants to know them but they never show up

until one day the land is attacked and Harry is wounded during battle he runs to the refuge hoping no one would find him he tries to heal his wound but he passes out sure he’s going to die and when he awakes someone is leaned over him their lips so close to his he thinks an angel wants to kiss him but the moment his eyes open fully the person runs away from him he tries to stand up and ask them to stay but the pain of his wound hold him down he looks down on it and realize it’s almost completely healed he looks around him and he sees little pots and other items and food used to heal him he crawls to the water pond to drink and he looks at himself the peach fuzz on his face indicating that’s he’s been out for almost a week and someone took care of him all this time he’s so baffled he rambles thank yous endlessly he asks the person if he can at least see who saved his life and he promises over and over again he won’t hurt them but there’s still not a peep ....

he lays down and fall asleep bc he’s still very weak and when he wakes up again he keeps his eyes closed and he feels water dripping down on his forehead again he speaks before moving or he doesn’t even open his eyes, he’s softly greeting the person who helped him thanking them and reassuring them again,,, he can hear their breathing and the droplets of water still hit his forehead in the most gentle way so he knows they’re still here.

He decides to open his eyes very slowly and he finally sees the person perched up on the branch, their naked body laying on it and gazing down on him, water dripping down their hair and twigs and flowers inside their hair,, he can’t quite believe his eyes for a second but once they make eye contact he just stares silently, the nymph stares back; eyes big with wonder... they stay there like that silently for a while he doesn’t dare to speak by fear they’ll run away again but in the silence the nymph gets down of the tree.

Harry stays down on the grass his head looking at the sky not wanting to make a move,,, he can feel them walk around him, looking at him and he feels safe.... the nymph kneels next to him and touch his face with their fingertips, softly tug on the curl that’s falling on his forehead, they check on his wound and grimace at the look of it, they get water and plants to put on it and Harry flinches at the pain but doesn’t make a sound. When they’re done they make eye contact again but they don’t speak and the nymph leaves and as they walk away Harry tries to stop them and ask them for at least a name and they just turn around and smile at him before disappearing again....

Harry realizes his wound is finally healed and he knows he has to get back to the castle so he leaves promising to come back again the next morning he finally makes it back home and it’s a celebration that the prince has returned safely and the next morning he takes his guitar and some food to bring to the pond and he stays there offering the food to the nymph waiting for them to come out he stays there and wait all day but they don’t come out he’s starting to think that maybe he made the whole thing up in his head bc of the pain but just as he starts to leave he hears branches and twigs breaking behind him and the food he brought is not there anymore he takes a deep breath and looks up to the branch where he saw them for the first time and they’re there!! Laying on their tummy gazing at him and eating the food he brought.... before he can speak the nymph gets down of the tree and analyzes him, they walk around him in a circle looking to see if he’s maybe hurt, they check his wound and smile contently at the sight of it healed,,, Harry doesn’t move and doesn’t speak but the nymph touches his face before their name fall out of their lips....

They are finally talking and Harry couldn’t be happier he knew it was real!! He speaks ever so softly scared that if he speaks louder he might scare them away again,, he doesn’t dare to touch them not even their hands let alone their arms and he doesn’t look at their eyes too long he’s so intimidated by their beauty and grace he can barely make sense but he profusely thank them for saving his life and he rambles about knowing there was someone living here. The nymph interrupts him to ask him to sing bc they love to hear him and he’s so taken aback he can only say yes so they sit next to him and listen while he plays the guitar and sings songs about long forgotten love stories and heartbreak

He stays there for hours just playing and singing, the nymph doesn’t say a word they just listen... until it’s dark and Harry excuses himself because he has to go home,,, the nymph finally asks him if he would teach them how to play the guitar and he promises he’ll back tomorrow to teach them

And he comes back... every day for weeks, teaching them the guitar, writing songs, listening to them sing, bringing them food and flowers and other trinkets he finds that he thinks they would enjoy and everyday the nymph speaks more and more and they tell him how much they love the sun and their favorite flower and color

One day Harry comes back and the nymph greets him gleefully jumping on their feet so happy to see him and he stays there all day they play and sing and write and eat as they do and by the end of the day as the sun sets and the pond is washed over in golden tones he pulls out a gold necklace with a sun pendant,, he explains to the nymph that it’s a gift for them that he saw the sun pendant and it reminded him of them,, he asks if he can put it on them and the nymph agrees so filled with tenderness from his gesture,,, they tell him they love it and that they’ll keep it forever and once he’s done placing it on their neck as they turn around to face him their eyes meet and it’s like time is frozen, they kisses his cheek to thank him and wishing him a good night... Harry is slightly disappointed but he kisses their cheek back for the first time and the nymph gets so flustered and so Harry starts to leave but right before he could get out of the bushes the nymph appears in front of him and thank him again they caress his cheek right where they kissed it a few moments ago and in a deep breath Harry cups their face to bring it closer to his and as their lips are barely inches away he whispers can I kiss you to which the nymph only answers by pressing their lips to his,, when their lips finally detach they’re both blissfully looking at each other,, the nymph says good night and watch Harry walk away promising again he’ll be back the next morning

When he comes back the next morning bringing the nymph his usual offerings; food and flowers and crystals and rocks just things he knows they enjoy they spend the day again talking playing and singing they don’t mention the kiss but when the day ends and Harry is about to leave the nymph offers him a necklace they made out of pearls specially for him they ask if they can put it on him and as they’re done placing the necklace on Harry and he turns around to face them; they lean over to his face, eyes closed and lips pouted ready for a kiss... Harry giggles looking at their silly face expecting a kiss and they get embarrassed they explain to Harry that they thought it was custom to kiss after giving a gift and Harry cups their face and kiss their nose,, telling them how cute they are for being a little clueless on social norms,, he kisses their forehead and their eyelids and finally their lips before whispering that he loves to kiss them

From now on they make it a little tradition to kiss everytime they give each other something, making their own little social rules in their own little world

One day Harry arrives at the pond and the nymph is nowhere to be found but two other beautiful nymphs are there, they analyse him with despise talking among themselves that they don’t understand why the nymph of the pond would find interest in a human like him, they do refer to him as pretty and magnetic but that he’s a man and he’s never to be trusted... Harry doesn’t necessarily understands what’s happening but he just asks if the nymph is here referring to them by name and the nymph comes out and cast the others away, apologizing if their siblings were rude to him... Harry tells them that there’s no need to apologize and they keep their little ritual and learn about each other more

It’s only when the sun starts to come down that they’re laying on the grass, the nymphs head on Harry’s chest that they contemplate the sky in silence and the nymph kisses Harry’s chin and jaw and as the breeze passes them by they start to kiss, their hands traveling all over their bodies and their heartbeats synchronising... the soft evening air starts to feel heavier and it’s like there’s a wave of heat in the pond,, the nymph straddles themselves on Harry never unlocking their lips and when he breaks the kiss to breathe he’s suddenly very aware of what the other nymphs said about him; he becomes hesitant and shy away from the nymph’s mouth,,, he asks them if they really want to go further than a kiss, further than touches, if they’re sure they want him; if they really trust him

and the nymph only grabs his face to kiss him deeper to let him know that they never had a doubt and so they make love right there on the grass; the nymph on top of him, their hips moving to the rhythm of the water and their face gleaming in the golden hour and Harry can only say how beautiful they are, how perfect they are, how they feel so good.... Hes sitting up while the nymph rides him so he can make eye contact and kiss their lips, his hands resting on their waist, sliding on their hips and sometimes grabbing their ass, always moaning on the nymph’s lips about how magical they are and its when he picks them up to fuck into them that he finally hears them talk between muffled breaths and moans; repeatedly calling his name... he thrusts harder every time the word harry leaves their mouth until they both come undone on each other, the nymph first : waves of water covering Harry and a last moan of his name against his lips and barely seconds later Harry releases himself inside the nymph,,, thanking them time and time again

and now they’re staying in this position, their lips trying to find each other in the dark now that the sun has set, giggling in each other’s mouth its only after a while that Harry finally gets up to leave and the nymph is somehow terrified by the idea that he might never come back but right as he leaves, same as every night, he kisses them and promises to come back tomorrow....

so yeah thats about where im at in the nymph fantasy lmaodvnh from then he keeps coming back and they keep fucking in every possible positions so its just horny ass shit and then I thought maybe he’s gonna ask them to come to the city to visit the castle and attend a ball and since theyre a bit clueless on social cues it will be fun and awkward and maybe there’ll be conflict like he’s already promised to someone else or maybe he’s actually the god Apollo trapped in his human form and he’s found a new muse but now that hes in love he doesnt know what to do who knows my brain is full of possibilities lmaohsdvbhv

hi! just adding to your pile of fanmail for your quiz which first of all i loved! i wanted to ask you about your thoughts on the ideal self versus the actual self; i keep getting gryffindor, which resonates with me as the type of person i admire and wish i could be, but in real life i feel adrift and not at all like i have a wide-scope cause that burns in me. which is more important do you think, the person you want to be or the person you are? or are they eventually the same?

Hello friend c: first of all, I hope you don’t mind if I answer this publically, a lot of folks had similar experiences and I think the beauty of how many people took this little quiz I made is that it has really helped some people realize that they’re not alone. I actually had a conversation with my friend @dykepoetssociety about Amanda palmer and the difference between someone saying you aren’t alone and someone shaking you by the shoulders and saying “you are not alone, you are not alone, you are not alone and I will not let you be alone.” For me, this quiz has been an incredible demonstration of the power of the latter. I don’t think I would have gotten to talk to you without it, or to hear so many people’s stories, or even to really realize how I can connect with so many people. Hehe here I’ve gone making these asks my journal again, let’s talk about you, and not just you, but the universe of other yous in that universal you who are all going through the same thing.

Here are my thoughts on the ideal self versus the actual self: they are closer than we give them credit for. Of course, they are not always the same. My ideal self has shoulder-length red hair for one, and didn’t give up clarinet, but in terms of something as immense and complicated as a self, these are very trivial details. My ideal self is kind. My actual self is as kind as he can be, and when he isn’t, he wants to be kind. The question is then pretty obvious; doesn’t that make me kind? You want to be morally just and with a cause, aren’t you then morally just, and your cause is to find a cause? I think the reason we don’t find ourselves relating to the idealized version of a house is because they are just that, idealized. We are not in Harry Potter, as much as we would like to be, and Gryffindors in particular are often very lost in a world where there is so much good to be done in the face of so much evil that is never as black and white as it is in books. But Gryffindors are not inherently anchored with a clear destiny or purpose, because so few people truly are. Gryffindors, and all houses, are tied to what you want. I’m a Hufflepuff because I want to be, because I want to be loyal, because I want to be just, and so despite what I may be afraid of and the reality of my anxieties that sometimes stop me from being as just as I would like, I still do justice in the ways that I can (”Justice is what love looks like in public,” Cornell West) Lily is a ravenclaw because she wants to understand, because she wants to and feels the need to create and to know. And you friend are a Gryffindor because the very act of wanting to be brave and true is more courageous than you give yourself credit for. I think its a powerful moment for all of us when we allow our definition of the ideal version of ourselves to be synonymous with the real version of ourselves, and when we realize that we were already there anyway.

10. How would you describe your style?

Definitely comfortable chic. I’m not too crazy with my wardrobe, just the basics and I’m good. My style leans more on the tomboyish side - dark denim pants, white blouse, with loafers are my go-to style. I wouldn’t mind, though, putting on a dress once in a while. I do wish sometimes I’m more adventurous with my clothing style but I haven’t found the right pieces that are eccentric enough but still is comfortable to wear but I’m okay with my basic style on the daily.

35. Who is your celebrity crush?

Oooh, this is a nice one. I do admire a lot of actors and actresses for their talent, beauty, and work but I do have a few that are my most favorite...

Actor:

Zachary Levi - Probably the guy I would say would be my first - and still my - celebrity crush. I absolutely loved him on Chuck first, then as I got to know his work even more and his personality, I just love him, love him!

Sam Heughan - There’s a lot of criteria before an actor passes in my “crush” level but Sam just stunned me with his talent, beauty, and chivalry from the beginning and I just love him as an actor and person.

Honestly, these are the only 2 guys I “celebrity” crushes on!

Actress:

This is a much longer list because I admire far more actresses than actors but here are some that I admire most and hope to dream on meeting

Jennifer Aniston - Probably my first “girl” crush ever. She’s just stunningly beautiful and I just love her. Growing up in the Friends sitcom era, I just naturally gravitated to her (even though I think I’m more of a Phoebe than a Rachel, but still!)

Yvonne Strahovski - She’s killing it on Handmaid’s Tale now but I loved her on Chuck first, too! Her bad-assery is top level plus her gorgeousness, ahh, winner!

Caitriona Balfe - I didn’t know her before Outlander but damn the first time I saw her on the sceen, I was just stunned by her beauty. She’s one of those women that are just naturally and stunningly beautiful and I cannot look away. Add the talent and work she puts on as Claire Fraser and I am just in love with her.

Stana Katic - I first saw her on Castle and I just completely fell in love with how beautiful and badass she it at the same time. As the show went on, her beauty just evolved too to a point where I see a photoshoot of hers and go ‘daaaamn’ 🔥 She’s absolutely one of ultimate faves and glad her show, Absentia, is picking up!

37. Do you read a lot? What’s your favorite book?

Yes, I do believe I consider myself really a Bibliophile 😁 I always have a book with me wherever I go just in case (plus there’s hundreds of fanfiction, too!). I don’t have a particular genre, I really just base it if the plot is unique and interesting but I do tend to lean on more fiction and mystery.

Some of my favorite reads include:

Nicholas Sparks novels - The most in my collection. I haven’t read the latest ones but True Believer and At First Sight are my most favorite of his. The only time he came to my country for a book signing, I spent 12 hours on the line just to meet him for 5 seconds and it was awesome! :)

Robert Langdon Series by Dan Brown - I’m currently reading Origin - it’s the book I’ve been carrying around right now. I really don’t care much about the controversy on “The Da Vinci Code” and when I actually read it, I liked the mystery, the intricacy, the connections, I just loved it from start to finish. Ever since then, I read every book in this series and found it to be as amazing as the next.

Before Ever After by Samantha Sotto - I absolutely adored this book to a point where I just had to send a fanmail to Samantha to share how much I love it (and to clarify some plot points, haha!) She was so sweet to reply and I can recommend this book to be a great read.

Harry Potter Series by J.K Rowling - I grew up reading this books and watching the movies and I love it. I still come back to read it from time to time. These are the books I’ll have my kids read one day too.

Outlander Series by Diana Gabaldon - I knew the show before the book. I didn’t know this series has been going on for 20 years. But after watching season 1, I wanted to see how the show compared to the book so I started reading it. This is probably the first “historical” series I read and I must admit, I was adamant at first cause I know how looooog those stories go. Absolutely adored Book 1 to a point where I was highlighting all my favorite parts and lines, Book 2 is the one I come back most too, especially when I want something to crush me in the end, Book 3 and Book 4 was lovely, I was really looking forward to the reunion part. Currently reading Book 5 but I’m finding it to be very long at the moment so I’m dabbing here and here from time to time or I’ll probably just wait when Season 5 comes to condense it for me ;)

So you’re new to DramioneAsks?

Firstly, hi! Welcome! *waves*

Secondly, we are a group of dramione obsessed fan-ladies who use our free time to help other dramione obsessed fan-people find fics they’ve seemed to forgot, get fic recommendations, and rec their own suggestions. (This blog was not started by us, but by an amazing lady named Mandy who has generously left us in charge of things.)

As mentioned above, we take care of this blog on our free time. We all have lives and jobs and school and kids etc, so we don’t always be online all day. We cannot get to the asks within a day or sometimes within a few days. So we always ask that if you send in an ask, please wait until the end of the week to see if we have answered it before re-sending in your question. (Tumblr sometimes like to eat questions, so there will be times when we just never receive any asks from you.) We close on the weekend to give ourselves a little break, and give us a chance to answer all the asks we couldn’t get to during the week. This information can be found on our sidebar.

We close on Friday around 9-11 pm EST; and reopen on Sunday around 11 pm EST. (We do not accept any questions via fanmail on the weekend.) Come Monday morning, if you do not see your ask, that means we never received it, Tumblr ate it, and you can resend it again. We have a search bar, and we always tag tumblr users’ names on posts. So you can either scroll through the previous posts, or use the search bar to find your ask. Because sometimes we may have answered your question, but you just missed it. It happens.

So as you know Tumblr has three options for asking questions to a blog. We prefer that you always use the ask option when you need help finding fics, or want fic recommendations. Use the submission option to recommend a fic or if your fic search exceeds the ask’s word limit. And use the fanmail to send us, well, fan mail.

When sending in an ask, please only inquire about one fic or one request. If you have another fic you need help finding or another request you need fulfilled, send in another ask for that one. We have an extensive tagging system, so when an ask is answered, we tag it appropriately so that in the future anyone looking under a particular tag will see your post with a relevant fic for them to read and enjoy. We also ask that if you have a request for similar fics to another fic, you tell us what exactly you liked about the original fic and what you want to read more of. This way we will be better able to give you suggestions if we know what you are looking for, because as you know all fics have multiple tropes/themes. We don’t want to assume anything. You can also use the ask option to help us with the asks we didn’t know the answers too. The best way to do this is to send us the unique ID in the URL of the original post, along with the name of the fic. Each post, has its own unique URL. So by including that ID number in your ask, it’ll make things so much easier for us to find and update that post.

Our tags, as mentioned above, are our pride and joy! We take our time to carefully add tags to each post, and to update the various lists we’ve made. The tags can be found at the top of the page.

When you click on that, you get to our various lists. We have organized the tags to make things easier for everyone who uses it.

If you cannot find the specific tag you are looking for, we also have a Tag Cloud which collects all the tags we use on the blog. Unfortunately, the specific one we use only collects a certain amount, and only shows the most recently used tags.

For some unknown reason, our links at the top of the page do not work in the Tumblr app. So to combat that, you can load our page on your phone’s web browser or use the search feature in the app.

We ask that if you are looking for a specific type of fic to read, (a specific trope, or a certain character trait, a fic with one character being heavily featured, or a fic with a special side pairing), before you come to us, check out our tags and see if we already have that listed. If we do, click on it and you will see many recommendations for you to enjoy.

You can also use our search bar to find what you want if you don’t want to go through the tags. But the search bar gives you a broader search, so if you type in a keyword, instead of posts tagged with that word popping up, every single post with the word will pop up regardless of whether it was tagged as such.

We have two sister blogs; @dramioneficindex and @dramionediscussion. Both are run by some of the admin here. So from time to time, you will see posts here about those blogs.

We also look through the #dramione tag here on Tumblr where we reblog fic information from authors who post those types of things. Or sometimes authors come to us to tell us updates on their fics. Other than that we do not have any sort of relationship with any author, so we don’t have any insider scoop nor do have any contact with authors. We do not know what happens when an author deletes their fics, or why they leave the fandom. Your guess is as good as ours.

We also no longer share downloadable copies of deleted fics. So if you are looking for a copy of a fic, you may want to check elsewhere.

On the right top of our page you will see various tabs.

Under Fic Lists, we have a list of the most popular tropes and many fic recommendations, as chosen by our followers. Under FAQ, we have our frequently asked questions. And under the Fests tab, we have a list of all the Harry Potter fests to have ever featured dramione fics, and of course we list those fics for you to read.

Another 11/11/11 Tag Game!!

I was tagged again haha thanks @spilledinkpot for the tag, I really appreciate it! Again, sorry I took so long!

Her questions:

1. Are any (or all) of your ocs inspired by real people or other characters?

Not all of them, and much less so as I get older, but in my early writing every character had a real-life counterpart. Most often, my protagonist's best friend or most trusted person is based off of my parabatai. However, I do pretty much always imagine myself as the main character, or sometimes the villain. Also, imagining yourself as your OC aids the writing process SO MUCH I cannot stress that enough.

2. What is/was your inspiration for your current WIP?

I have a lot of current WIPs, I'm gonna go with my most recent, Flirting with Death. My inspiration was kinda morbid, I was literally sitting in the library at my college waiting on my mother to get me so we could carpool to a funeral. And a few guys were walking past where I sat, eyeing me up and down and I thought to myself, "I swear if one of them tries to hit on me right now I'm gonna make them regret it." And then Thana Carmichael was born. And those guys quickly escaped the death glare I gave them.

3. Do you prefer to plan your characters out, or develop them as the story progresses?

I normally have the base of my character and their personality and how they handle things worked out before I start writing them, but for the most part I develop them as the story progresses. I like to write them in such a way that I learn a little more about them as I go, just like the reader would.

4. How do you deal with writer's block?

I don't lol just kidding! It really depends, if I'm writing and I don't absolutely have to continue or get it done right then, I take a break. Listen to musical soundtracks, play video games, watch a film who's genre corresponds with the type of scene I'm writing. Anything with a story. If I do have to get it done right then though, I just keep writing. I write absolute shit that makes no sense and then take it out later. I once wrote a whole page of "blah" over and over again. I free write until I get my mojo back.

5. What/who first encouraged you to begin writing?

According to my earliest childhood babysitter, I've been writing since I learned the alphabet. I remember once when I was six, I wrote a whole six page book with pictures I drew about why I thought birds were pretty and cool (Update: I am now afraid of birds.) It was titled "BIRDS," yes in all caps, and I cried because my name was so long that I couldn't fit the whole thing on the cover. However, I didn't start really writing until about 6th grade. I was reading a book, and the ending was so sad that I got mad and rewrote it, and I realized how much I loved making stories, how much I loved choosing my own ending. In my life as a child, nothing was certain and I never stayed in one place for too long or made any lasting friendships, but writing was always a constant for me. And through writing I made more friends, and they helped me write and it was just incredible. I can't put into words how much writing has done for me.

6. Are you able to write everyday, or need a couple of days intermediate?

For my WIPs, I definitely need a day or two off before I continue the story but I definitely try to write something every day, even if it's just free-writing or ranting about my day or journaling, I write something every day. It isn't progress on my WIPs, but it helps.

7. How long have you been writing for?

In general, since about age 6 or 7. Seriously, about 6th grade, but I didn't like any of my writing until 8th grade, and at times I don't even now. So in general, 12 or 13 years, but seriously only about 7 or 8 years.

8. What inspired your first WIP?

The Percy Jackson series. I was 10 or 11, and I had just finished that series and I was mad there wasn't more, so I wrote myself into the books as like a spin-off type thing with the minor gods (btw in case anyone cares, I'm a Hades kid). Seven chapters in, my OC still hadn't left her house. It was not my finest work haha

9. Who are the authors that you looked up to, to develop your writing?

Lemony Snicket (yes I know that's a pen name, but I mean A Series of Unfortunate Events specifically), Neal Shusterman with his Unwind series, Marie Lu with literally anything she's written, Cassandra Clare with The Infernal Devices and The Mortal Instruments, J.K. Rowling with Harry Potter (I'm a huge Potterhead, Slytherin btw), Rick Riordan with anything he's ever written, Leigh Bardugo with anything she's ever written but mainly Six of Crows, and Oscar Wilde with The Picture of Dorian Gray. Probably many many more, I'll think of them later.

10. Is there a book that inspired you to write your own story?

Remember I mentioned that I didn't like the ending of a book I was reading so I rewrote it? That book was Bridge to Teribethia. If you read it, you know why I changed the ending. But also, I drew inspiration from books that made me feel like I was actually in the story, like I could see it all for myself. The stories felt real, and I wanted to be able to tell stories like that. To travel the world without leaving my room.

11. Do you include moral points in your writing, or prefer just the entertainment?

There is always something to take away from my writing, some lesson to be had, whether it be an emotion, a theme, a vice, or a virtue. I can't promise it's always moral, but it's always there.

If you could meet just one of your favorite authors, dead or alive, who would it be?

What is your number one goal as a writer? (i.e. have your books taught in schools as "classics," write a series that makes people cry, get fanmail, mine personally is to create the perfect villain that no one can hate no matter what they do)

With a groan, Hermione flops into their favorite armchair that they keep in the corner of their office. With a great rumbling purr, Crookshanks seems to appear from nowhere to leap on their lap, kneading his paws into Hermione’s thigh a few times before settling down. Smiling, Hermione automatically reaches down to pet him, smoothing through his thick, fluffy hair. “Where have you been all day?”

Crookshanks doesn’t answer, unless you count him nuzzling into Hermione’s hand. “Coulda used you to help round up all the nifflers.”

A knock at the door interrupts Hermione’s moment of rest. Not wanting to disturb Crookshanks - or honestly even have to get up - they simply call out, “Open, please enter.”

Thankfully, the intruder turns out to just be Percy. His normally sharp features soften a bit when he sees Hermione’s position. “Long day? I heard about the, erm, invasion.”

Hermione actually giggles. Just a bit. “Yes. Are you here to tell me it’s not over yet?”

“No, actually, I was just popping in to say good job. Have a good night, Hermione.”

“Night, Percy.”

Hermione’s relaxation doesn’t last long, though. Doing nothing has never been relaxing for them. With a swish of their wand, they summon the stack of fanmail that’s been waiting for an answer or autograph. It’s weird now that Harry’s not the only one in the spotlight, but these times when Hermione feels burnt out and exhausted, they can get through them without too much blushing or stumbling over how to respond.

The first few letters are, of course, about Hermione’s part in the War. Nothing new there. There’s some about how inspiring it is to have a trans Minister with the typical questions of wondering how they knew they were genderfluid and how they found the courage to come out. There’s a couple about how refreshing it is to have another Minister of color - one that even personally laments on Kingsley and another that asks how close they are to their Chinese heritage culturally and if they have any advice for someone looking to reconnect with their Chinese identity. Hermione’s favorites are a couple that they don’t get as much mail on, though. The ones from aro/ace kids who thank them for being out and proud about their demiromanticism and asexuality and how Hermione taught them these were things or helped them accept these things about themselves.

By the time Hermione has finished, they’re not sure how long it’s been dark out, they’ve been yawning for hours, Crookshanks is asleep, and their stomach is grumbling loudly. Hermione reaches into their emergency rations, summoning an apple and some of Molly’s cake from their bottom desk drawer. With eyes fluttering shut, Hermione considers the meal good enough, even though they know they’ll be starving come morning time.

Crookshanks grumbles and mrows when Hermione picks him up. They hate having to dislodge and wake him, but their back really can’t handle long nights in the chair anymore. They don’t have far to go, though, simply picking up and collapsing on the couch that Harry and Ron insisted they keep in their office if they were going to keep sleeping in it. Crookshanks quickly resettles as Hermione pulls the blanket down to partially cover themself. They’re out before they even remember finishing settling.

The strange days are always the best ones. At least, they always give Hermione the best nights of rest.

I wasn't on your blog for a bit, I am sorry about that and I know, I have to catch up with a lot of stuff, but I will change that soon. But seeing Harry 'best friend concepts' on my dash is something I can't get away from! I have this idea in my mind myself, but I would like to have your opinion on. His best friend is well known for some reason. Books or so and gets fanmail out of that, so as he visits her, she's totally drowning in fanmail trying to answer it and he helps her to go through it.

Firstly, Welcome back!

Maybe she’s a blogger or something similar and gets a lot of fanmail sent to her PO Box and every few months Harry comes over and they sort through it all together. They’d make a whole day of it, playing movies in the background eating cheese and dip while they read it all, but by the mid afternoon they’re tired and ready for a nap, so they snuggle up on the couch and fall asleep. And maybe there were a few that were really mean and hateful letters so he starts to scan them before she reads them to make sure they’re ok and if they’re not he just throws them out and doesn’t let her look at them at all. He’d help her respond to things and occasionally sign a few things because he’s a shit and knows that it would send fans into a frenzy.
