Unemployed and Uneducated
Summary: Peter is desperate for a job after months of living on his own
Warnings: none really, just a few mentions of loneliness and a lost relative
Tumblr media
“Peter Parker?” A woman from the unemployment office calls into an overall dejected lobby. Peter looks up from holding his head in his hands as his knee bounces anxiously.
The same few thoughts flood his brain:
* I’m pathetic
* I can’t do this much longer
* I can’t do anything
* I need help
- Who the hell could I ask?
- I’m fucking alone!
- I couldn’t save May, who else can’t I save?
* I am so fucked in the head
- Lost everyone
1. First my parents
2. Ben
3. Tony
4. May
5. Everyone else, including my best friend, my doppelgängers, and of course, the love of my life
Man this shit is gonna give me a complex
* I am so depressed
- I should get medication
- I can’t afford medication
- That’s why I’m at a fucking unemployment agency
* And I’m back to being pathetic
“Here,” Peter pushes away all of those invasive thoughts for the next fifteen minutes in that woman’s office. She types his name into her computer and pushes her glasses up, as if that will change the astonishing lack of… anything.
Peter sits there, awkwardly, eyes darting around the room as if he has no clue about what she’s seeing— not seeing on that screen.
“I’m sorry,” she starts, “I think we’ll just have to “build your resume on print.” The red haired middle aged—Gina, Peter reads the name on the plaque on her desk— grabs a pen and some paper.
“So where did you graduate?”
“Oh, I uh… I had to, uh… dropout…?”
Gina nods and writes something down on the paper. She kinda reminds Peter of a glorified guidance counselor… but maybe a little meaner. “Look Peter, I’m not gonna lie to you, this isn’t looking good for you. Without a GED and a diploma shits gonna get real difficult. I seriously recommend you getting that GED. I can’t give you some entry level jobs to start until you get that degree.”
Now it’s Peter’s turn to nod.
“So tell me about what you like to do.”
‘Apparently, I like to self sabotage a lot.’ He filters himself so he doesn’t projectile word-vomit all over this stranger’s office.
“I wanted to be an engineer. I had my sights set on MIT before I had to drop out.”
———
Trying to think of a time before a traumatic event is extremely difficult. A victim of rape can be triggered by something that once was innocent, like a lemonade stand; a son who used to be pushed by his father on the football field might not be able to play football ever again after they stop talking to their father; a victim of domestic violence might not be able to respond to sudden movements from their partners the same way. And for all of those people, looking back on their memories before the abuse might be difficult to do with a totally unbiased opinion.
Something’s you never forget, like the way Aunt May felt in Peter’s arms just before she died. Or the words she spoke in those final moments, the same words his uncle Ben said when he died.
‘Nothing will ever be the same.’
Peter can’t afford flowers for May’s grave, but he still visits her grave three times a week on average, no less than two in that span.
And that’s where he is right now. Sitting across from her grave stone with his journal between the hedge and him.
“So I’m still looking for a job, and I haven’t really had time to make friends, but it’ll get better soon…” as soon as he feels a tear fall down his right cheek, he sniffles, blinks. And uses his sleeve to wipe it all away.
“Good God, May. Why didn’t you tell me it’d be so hard to make it on my own?” He chuckled somberly, the same way anyone would when they were trying to hide their emotions.
“I don’t want to keep going.” He cries. “I don’t know if I can.”
“You can.” A familiar, yet unfamiliar voice says from behind him. “She’d want you to.”
It’s Happy.
Peter closes the journal and stands up as fast as possible for him.
“Sorry,” Happy starts, “I didn’t mean to eavesdrop.”
Peter hides his face and can’t even bring himself to self to glance at Happy even by accident, “No no, don’t worry about it. It’s fine. I should probably leave anyways.” He starts to step away but Happy takes hold of his jacket sleeve.
“Wait, let me take you to get something to eat,” He smiles, “please. My treat.
Tom takes a moment to consider the offer. The most surprising thing about his moment of hesitation is the fact that he thought about saying no.
“Why would you want to take a stranger out to eat?” He asks.
“I don’t know. You just remind me of someone that I can’t quite place.”
Peter smiles with a glint of hope in his eyes.
— — —
“So,” Happy starts as Peter munches on his cheeseburger, “what’s a young kid like you doing visiting someone’s grave instead of going to school?”
Peter puts down the burger, “I had to drop out actually.” Happy leans back on the booth bench.
“It’s not drugs or anything,” Peter reassures the older man, “I just don’t have the money for anything and I need to earn money for rent.”
“So was May helping you with that before she died?” Happy asks.
Peter debates being forthcoming about his past, but decides against it because he doesn’t have the strength anymore. He lost that at the Statue of Liberty.
“Yeah. My parents died and she always managed to find someway to help me.” Peter smiled.
“I was her boyfriend,” Happy begins, “she never mentioned you. Peter, are you hiding something?” Peter gets a l little nervous.
“I went to the soup kitchen after school. She helped so many that she probably had no idea the effect she had on me.” He covers his ass.
Happy is still suspicious but doesn’t push. “Well, Peter, you seem like a good kid. I’m sure everything will work out eventually.”
“Thank you, Mr. Hogan.”
“So where’s the first place on your list?” He asks.
“What?”
“You said you’re looking for a job, tell me where you’re looking and I can give you a ride.”
“Stormy’s Autobody.”

love you to the moon and to saturn (t.h)
Tumblr media
tom holland x reader
summary: tom wants to get matching tattoos with his girlfriend, but things don't always go according to plan
warnings: knives, mentions of injury from knife, mention of mutilation? threatening behavior, cursing
a/n: i want to preface this with two points:
i know tom has a tattoo already, and also would not be this much of a wimp lol. suspension of disbelief, guys.
this is possibly the dumbest thing i've ever written. it's pure stupidity. but sometimes you just have to write something to get you back into the swing of things, you know?
enjoy <3
・°☆.。.:*・°☆.。.:*・°☆
It was Tom’s idea. He waited until you’d sat down to breakfast with the rest of the boys, sliding his phone across the table to you as you took a spoonful of your cereal.
“I think we should get matching tattoos.”
Your eyes widened as you picked up his phone, examining the photo he had opened. It was a close up of two wrists, each with a tiny crescent moon and a delicate saturn, with tiny stars dotted around the image.
“Do you like it? I thought it was kinda like, ‘love you to the moon and to saturn’, y’know?” Tom continues eagerly. “I’ve been looking for a few weeks now and that one just came up and I was like yeah, that’s the one.”
Your heart swells at the thought of Tom sitting there, scrolling through his phone to find the perfect couple’s tattoo for you and himself, so you nod.
“Hun I love it, but are you sure you’re brave enough?” you tease. “I mean, tattoos HURT. Badly.”
Tom smirks, rolling his shoulders back and running a hand through his coffee-coloured curls.
“It can’t be that bad. I’ll be fine.”
You shrug.
“Alright then, speak now or forever hold your peace.
Tom nods. “Yeah, let’s get matching tattoos.”
・°☆.。.:*・°☆.。.:*・°☆
The five of you traipse into the nearest tattoo parlour later that morning, you, Tom, Harry, Harrison, and Tuwaine, the latter three who had insisted on coming with for ‘moral support’. You weren’t sure how much moral support they were really offering though, as they ambled around the small lobby, pointing at photos of completed tattoos pinned on the wall.
“Cor, look at this poor fucker’s tattoo!” Tuwaine guffaws. “It’s horrendous.”
“Harry, look you could get Eminem tattooed on your arm as an M&M!” laughs Harrison, earning himself a brief smack from Harry.
“Boys!” you say sharply to get their attention. Gesturing to the tattoo artist hovering a needle over your wrist, you ask, “are you giving support or what?”
The boys hurry over, gathering around you and watching in awe as the tattoo artist began to work, the design slowly taking shape. You grit your teeth, glancing up at the ceiling to distract yourself from the pain.
“Is it really bad, darling?” coos Tom, giving your free hand a gentle squeeze. “Squeeze my hand if it hurts too much, alright?”
“God, she’s not even wriggling,” Harrison whispers in awe.
“She’s like a statue,” agrees Tuwaine.
“A statue that’ll give you both a smack around the head if you don’t back up a bit and give me a bit of space,” you grumble, both boys recoiling quickly and giggling.
“Aaand, all done!” announced the tattoo artist, covering it in plastic for protection. He quickly explained the aftercare process and you nodded, half listening as you admired the delicate pictures on your wrist.
Tom presses a gentle kiss to your forehead.
“Did so well, love,” he whispers as you switched places.
“Alright, ready for me to begin?” the tattoo artist asks Tom as he prepared a fresh needle and situated himself near Tom’s wrist.
Tom nods, and everyone jumped quickly as your phone began to ring loudly.
“Shit, sorry,” you muttered, stepping away from the group as you answered it.
“Hello?”
“Y/N? It’s Emily.” the voice on the other end said impatiently. “From work?”
You rolled your eyes. Emily from work, on a Saturday? She’d better be joking.
“Hey Emily. Everything okay?” you ask politely.
“Not really.” she sniffs impatiently. “Both Martine and Tiffany have called in sick and it’s just me trying to hold down the fort over here. We really need you to come in.” she says, not bothering to ask if that worked with your schedule.
“Oh, really?” you say, pressing a hand to your forehead in annoyance.
“Yeah. Can you get here in half an hour?”
You sigh. You’d really like to tell her exactly where to stick it, seeing as you’re not scheduled to work Saturday and barely get to see your boyfriend as it is, but it’s also a reasonably new job and you’re still trying to make a good impression.
“Okay. I’ll be there in 25.” you say, and Emily hangs up without so much as a thank you.
Sighing, you turn back to deliver the news to the boys and the tattoo artist who hovers over Tom’s wrist, waiting to start.
“I’m sorry, I don’t wanna leave you baby, but you know it’s a new job and they really need me there today, I’l probably only be there for an hour or so-”
“Darling, it’s okay.” Tom interrupts your rambling. “You go. I’ve got the boys here, and it’s just a tattoo, I’ll be fine. I’ll see you later, okay?”
You nod, giving him a quick kiss, waving goodbye to the boys and thanking the tattoo artist again before rushing out the door and bracing the cold London wind, small tattoo protected by it’s plastic covering. As the door closes behind you, a loud squawk and a large thump echoes from the tattoo parlour but you’re in a rush so you can do nothing but shrug it off and hurry to work.
・°☆.。.:*・°☆.。.:*・°☆
Kicking off your shoes in the hallway and dropping your bag on the sofa, you’re surprised to be met with an empty house. You were only at work for around two hours, but still, how did you beat the boys home? You check your phone and see no missed calls or texts from them so you shrug, plopping down on the sofa and picking up your book.
Just as you begin to get into the story again, a flurry of yelling and stumbling, boys giving orders and complaining sounds from the hallway and you almost drop your book as Tom enters the living room, white as a sheet with a strange sheen of sweat on his forehead, half-dragged and half-carried by Harrison and Tuwaine, while Harry followed behind, chucking hysterically to himself at his older brother’s pain. Tom’s holding his arm out as if he’s scared for it to touch the rest of his body and you glimpse the tattoo on his wrist, not covered in plastic wrapping. Or…is that the tattoo? It seems smaller than yours- it’s half a tattoo?
“Oh my God, what happened?” you cry, eyes wide at the sight in front of you. “Did the tattoo artist mess it up? Did you have an allergic reaction?”
“He MAIMED ME,” shrieks Tom, panting loudly. “That FUCKER!”
“I didn’t think he was a fucker.” you say quietly. “I thought he was pretty good.”
“It was TORTURE” Tom moans, flopping unceremoniously onto the sofa in his state.
“He couldn’t do it,” chuckles Harry. “He was begging and pleasing for the tattoo guy to stop when he’d barely gotten a quarter of the way through.”
“Soon as the guy lifted the needle for a second so Tom would stop screeching like a fuckin’, a fuckin’, banshee, he was up out of that chair like a rocket and running out to the car. We had to chase him through half the bloody streets of London!” finishes Tuwaine.
As you stroke Tom’s hair, trying to hold in a giggle as you assess the situation, Harrison starts rootling around in the nearby drawer, pulling out a small, glinting object. He approaches Tom, brandishing it with a grim expression.
“Put your wrist on the coffee table.” he says calmly.
“The fuck? NO!” yells Tom, scrambling on the carpet to get away from his best friend. “Get away from me, you nutter!”
“No mate of mine is going to be the laughing stock of the internet,” says Harrison, crouching down and pinning Tom’s arm down using his knee.
“Harrison, get away from my boyfriend!” you yell, trying to push him off but to no avail.
“Mate, c’mon, maybe this is a bit excessive, yeah?” questions Tuwaine.
“DO IT, DO IT, DO IT,” chants Harry with glee.
“Okay mate, hand over the knife. There’s no need to brand the little guy.” says Tuwaine, worry crossing over his features.
“The…what? What knife?” says Harrison crossly. “I’m not BRANDING anyone! It’s Y/N’s blimmin’ EYELINER, which I’m going to use to DRAW the rest of it on. We’ll just take it in turns to draw the rest of Tom’s tattoo on before he leaves the house every morning.”
Everyone sucks in a breath of realisation as Harrison gently draws the rest of the tattoo on Tom’s wrist with surprising accuracy. Tom holds up his arm in victory as everyone admires his finished ‘tattoo’.
“Did you all really think I was gonna slice his skin off so it would grow back, un-tattooed? Or carve the rest of the tattoo into him with a knife?” asks Harrison in disbelief, glancing around the room.
You, Tuwaine and Harry are all suddenly very interested in examining the carpet and the pot plant on the coffee table, averting your embarrassed eyes. Tuwaine reaches underneath the coffee table and holds up a small cardboard box.
“Anyone up for a game of Boggle?”

If you had to describe your relationship with Harrison, you would say it’s complicated - really complicated. The two of you have been in the same friend group since high school, but you both never managed to become friends at all. You always had this bad gut feeling about the other, and that’s why you never seemed to enjoy each other’s company.
Much to the confusion of your friends. Especially Tom.
But the thing that irritated your friends the most was when Harrison and you started hooking up with each other. The first time was just out of frustration with the other, the second and third time because it was fun, and that’s why you continued doing it.
However, that did not change your feelings for the other. It’s just a friends with benefits relationship, without being actual friends in the first place.
But if it works for the both of you, why should you stop?
“Are you up for another round?” Harrison mumbles into your neck and places a few kisses there. You can feel his smile against your skin.
You shake your head, a smirk growing on your lips. “I can’t,” you reply and grab your shirt to pull it over your head. “I have to do some stuff for college.”
“Sad.” He lets himself fall back onto the pillow, his arms resting behind his head to give you a nice look at his biceps.
“You could come with me.”
Harrison’s eyebrows knit together, and his expression almost looks disgusted. “No, thanks. I’m just gonna stay here.”
“Why?”
He shrugs. “I don’t want to.”
You try to not look offended by his carelessness. “You mean, you don’t want to be seen with me.”
“That’s not true,” he rolls his eyes as if you’re getting on his nerves. “We’re not friends, y/n, so why should I come with you?“
“Right. We’re only sleeping with each other.”
A sigh leaves his lips, and you can see it in his eyes that he doesn’t know what to do. “We can stop if you don’t want to anymore.” A small smirk crosses his face, “but that would be a shame.”
You take a deep breath before standing up from the bed, and for a split second you hate yourself for saying your next words. “It’s fine, we don’t have to stop.”
Turning around to him again, you’re met by his satisfied grin. “See you on Friday?”
“Yeah.”
-
You click your bottle against the others, a smile taking over your face as everyone around the table shouts cheers. Taking a sip from your cold beer, you lean back into the seat, and Tom next to you turns his head to send you a gentle smile.
“Glad you came,” he mumbles and leans closer to you.
You raise your brows in surprise. “Why wouldn’t I?”
“You’ve been a little busy at the moment,” he smirks and nods his head in Harrison’s direction. The blonde notices your stares and sends a wink your way, which makes you roll your eyes.
“It’s not what you think,” you scoff at Tom. “I’m still a student that has to study for a lot of exams, you know.”
Tom raises his hands in surrender, a grin growing on his lips again. “I didn’t say anything.”
“But you were thinking about it!”
“I wasn’t!”
You narrow your eyes, but can’t hold back a small smile. “I don’t trust you.”
He laughs. “That’s a lie.”
After you finish your third bottle, Tom places a tequila shot in front of you, and you groan.
“Come on, y/n,” he wraps an arm around your shoulder, pulling you close, “I know you want to.”
You give the brunette a warning glance before you grab the small glass and let your head fall back to drown the liquid in one sip. Shots are your weakness, and you have to stay focused tonight.
“Another one?” Tom asks the second you place the empty glass down on the table again.
“I hate you!” you laugh.
Tom talks you into another two rounds before he finally loses his attention to his phone. You turn to him to watch him scrolling through his Instagram page, mindlessly scanning the pictures as you suddenly get a glimpse of the time.
“Can I stay here for the night?” you ask and lean closer to Tom.
He looks up from his phone and casually wraps an arm around your waist, smiling widely. “Only if you cuddle with me.”
“Of course, that’s like the only reason I always stay with you,” you laugh and nudge him with your shoulder.
Your phone suddenly lights up with a notification, and you grab it off the table in front of you to look at the incoming message.
Harrison: can’t believe you’re still sleeping with him
You knit your eyebrows together at his attitude, quickly typing a reply.
You: wtf??
You: I’m not sleeping with him
Harrison: but you’re sleeping in the same bed
You: we’ve always done that? what's your problem?
Harrison: I don’t have a problem
You: doesn’t sound like it
You look up from your phone, and Harrison does the same, your gaze meeting each other over the table. You narrow your eyes, staring him down, and Harrison’s blue eyes bore into your soul. Sometimes you don’t understand what everyone is seeing in him. But that’s before you remember that he only has this complicated relationship with you.
Tom thighens his grip on your waist to signal you to look at him, and you finally tear your gaze away from Harrison. Turning your head around to Tom, you’re met by his all too familiar worried eyes. Your mouth falls almost into a sad pout.
“Everything okay?”
You swallow the anger down and try not to look back at Harrison. “Course, Tommy,” you force a smile. “I’m fine.”
Your phone lights up with a new notification, gaining your attention again, and you know exactly what message is awaiting you, much to your disappointment - or maybe not. It’s always the same.
Harrison: bathroom in 5
Without looking up from your phone, you notice him standing up on the other side of the table and walking away, probably to the bathroom, without saying anything or even looking your way.
He’s almost too good at this game, and that disturbs you in a weird way.
When you open the door to the bathroom more than five minutes later, you immediately get pulled against a muscular chest. You look up and meet Harrison’s crystal blue eyes as he wraps his arms around your middle. His familiar scent envelops you and for a second you let yourself enjoy it.
“You’re getting on my nerves, y/n,” he mumbles, his lips so close to yours, almost touching, but he doesn’t give you the satisfaction yet. You want to stay focused and win this game, but you can’t hold back a smirk.
You bite down on your lips and try to look as innocent as possible before he turns you both around and presses your back against the wall, his grip on your waist tightening. “And I love it,” you smile.
“Just don’t exaggerate it,” Harrison whispers in between kisses, “you know I don’t like that.” He pulls you closer, his hands wandering over your upper body, arms, neck, cheeks, until they finally dive into your hair, and you know that you’re not coming out of this bathroom so soon.
You tilt your head and meet his lips for another kiss, your fingers pulling his blonde curls gently, and Harrison sighs into your mouth. You hate him, but you can’t get enough of his kisses and his hands on you. It’s a fact that this here is a mistake, but sometimes you need to do something wrong in life to have some fun.
“Oh, I haven’t really started, Harrison. You don’t know what’s coming.”
Harrison pulls away, smirking. “That sounds like a challenge.”
-
You’re standing in front of Harrison’s apartment, chewing on some bubble gum and typing a quick reply to a message Tom sent you some minutes ago, while you wait for Harrison to open the door. When he doesn’t answer, you send him a quick text too and knock again.
When the blonde finally opens the door after some minutes, he doesn’t look too happy to see you - maybe even a bit surprised. But let’s be honest here, he never looks happy when you’re around.
You push your phone into your pocket and smile. “Hey! I forgot my jacket last time and wanted to ask if you wanna chill a bit when I’m already here? Maybe watch something?”
Harrison frowns and slowly looks at something over his shoulder. “I’m busy right now. Sorry.”
Your eyebrows knit together at his words. Harrison doesn’t say sorry. And he’s never too busy for a quick hook-up. So something’s up, and you’re too curious to let it slide.
“What are you doing?” you ask and try to look behind him with no success.
Harrison closes the door a little more. “Nothing,” he mumbles, his voice sounding colder towards you than normal. “Why are you even here?”
You stare at him for a second, dumbfounded. “Like I already said, I forgot my jacket. Haven’t you seen my messages?”
“No, I haven’t checked my phone in a while.”
“So?”
You try to get past him through the door as you suddenly hear a muffled voice out of his apartment, and it’s a woman, with no doubt. For a second, the world stops spinning and all you can hear is your heartbeat in your ear.
“You have company?” you almost scoff and narrow your eyes slightly at the blonde.
His eyes are as cold as ice, and that hurts even more. “Why do you care?”
“I don’t care,” you shrug nonchalantly, even if you’re not.
“Good.”
You roll your eyes. “Good.”
The two of you stare at each other for a moment too long, and you could almost cut the tension with a knife. You’ve had your bad moments every here and then, but it has never been as intense as this.
You search for something in his cold eyes, but it’s as if you’ve never met this person in front of you.
“I should go then,” you say and turn around to walk down the hallway again. But not without shouting something at him with one last death glare. “Hope you have lots of fun with her!”
-
You haven’t talked to Harrison since… whatever thing that was, and for the first time ever it actually bothers you to not see his annoyingly handsome face. It’s already been three weeks and normally he would have texted you by now to ask you to come over, but nothing. Not even Tom has seen him in the last few days, and that’s weird for Harrison.
You would be lying if you said that your heart doesn’t hurt when you think about him being with someone else. It’s not like you promised each other anything, but it still hurts your ego to get left like this. Maybe deep down you thought there was a bit more than just hate and sex - maybe a connection.
No one has ever gotten under your skin like Harrison, and no one has ever made you feel so much anger and hatred. But also no one has made you feel so good about yourself and no one has seen you as strong as he does. Harrison sees you as a young independent woman and not someone you have to protect, like Tom always does. And that’s why you respected Harrison, under all the snappy insults.
From the start you knew that someone would end here and after all the nights you spent together over the last months, you would have sworn that it wouldn’t be you. You wouldn’t be the one that falls and gets hurt. It’s a risky game and only one person can win it, no matter what it takes.
The next time you see Harrison is at Tom’s birthday party and even if you try to look normal and careless, he does not even once cross your way. You’ve accepted the fact that your little thing ended the moment you walked away and that he and you would never talk about it again, but it annoys the hell out of you that he can’t even look you in the eyes now.
After a drink or five (Tom made sure you never had an empty glass) you don’t even remember Harrison’s name as you’re starring in the green eyes of a pretty brunette guy. Unlike Harrison he’s charming and kind, and he’s probably not embarrassed to go out with you.
You’re even too deep in conversation with him to notice Harrison’s stares and burning eyes on your skin. The guy’s touching your waist to pull you a little bit closer, and you smile up at him, not hearing a single word that comes out of his mouth.
You take a sip from your drink and finally meet Harrison’s gaze. His head turns slightly to the left and you know that he’s staring down the flirty guy in front of you, but you couldn’t care less. You look at Harrison from across the room and feel nothing but disappointment.
Life works in mysterious ways, but you learned your lesson with the blonde.
“Do you wanna go somewhere else?” you ask, still looking at Harrison before turning back to the brunette, “it’s too loud and sticky here.”
The guy nods without a second thought. “Sure. Where do you want to go?”
“Your place?” you say, even if you do not actually want to. But maybe a casual one night stand is exactly what you need to get over Harrison.
A lustful smirk appears on his lips, and it reminds you more than anything of Harrison. In that moment you realize you made a mistake. “Let’s go then.”
He wraps an arm around your waist as you’re leaving Tom’s house, and you cuddle yourself into his side to study yourself, trying hard to shake the weird feeling off you, but no matter what, you don’t feel comfortable with him anymore.
You listen to him talk and continue your conversation, and he doesn’t seem to notice your sudden disinterest. His hand wanders down to your lower back, and normally you would have kissed him right then, but not today. Today it just doesn’t feel right.
And as if he could see your thoughts, you hear his voice. “Y/n!”
An relieved sigh almost leaves your lips as you turn around, but then you see Harrison standing down the street. His face looks soft and sad, and you want nothing more than to kiss his hurt away.
“Y/n…”
“Haz?” you look at him with wide eyes, your heart racing in your chest.
He takes a step closer, and so do you.
“Don’t go with him.”
You swallow the lump down. “What?”
Harrison looks at the guy behind you, and you almost forgot that he’s still there. “Please don’t go, y/n.”
You turn around and give the obvious annoyed guy an apologetic smile. “I’m sorry. Maybe... we can hang out some other time?” you whisper, but he doesn’t want to hear anything of it.
“Or not,” Harrison mumbles as the guy turns around and goes back to the house. You bite back a smile.
When you look at Harrison again, he’s suddenly standing in front of you, not too close, but you can still smell his cologne. “What’s going on, Harrison?” You shake your head, suddenly feeling all the drinks you had tonight.
“I don’t want you to go home with him.”
“Why?” You take a deep breath, bracing yourself for whatever comes next. “Why do you suddenly care?”
Harrison clenches his jaw. “You shouldn't go home with someone you don’t know.”
“I can do whatever I want.”
“Y/n…” he steps closer, “I know you’re not like that.”
You frown and automatically look away to calm yourself down. “You mean, I can’t do what you’re doing? You can go around and fuck everyone, but as soon as I do it, it’s wrong? That’s fucked up, Harrison.”
“That’s not what I meant. Don’t turn this around, y/n.”
“So, what do you mean?” You cross your arms over your chest. “Are you scared that it’ll ruin my image?”
Harrison runs a hand through his hair and looks away for a moment, searching for the right words. “I’m just looking out for you.”
That catches you off guard. “You don’t have to. It’s enough when Tom does that.” You shake your head, suddenly feeling exhausted. “You know what? I always liked you because you didn’t try to protect me from everything. I thought you saw in me more than a little girl that can’t be left alone because something could happen to her.”
“And now you don’t like me anymore?” The corners of his mouth quirk up.
“No,” you spit out, “the little bit of respect I had for you died when you slept with someone else and didn’t talk to me again after that. You couldn’t look me in the eyes the whole evening, Harrison!”
“Why do you care so much about that?”
You clench your fists, your nails digging into your palm. This has to be a joke. “Because it hurt me, Harrison.” You shake your head, not believing that he doesn’t get it. “I know we never set any rules, but that’s just a fucked up thing to do.”
Punching your fists against his chest, you immediately feel the tears spilling from your eyes. “I don’t understand why you care so much about your reputation and your status and every fucking other thing, but not the people that care for you!”
“I don’t give a fuck about my status. I don't care about everyone else! I care about you, y/n!” he suddenly shouts and makes a wild gesture with his hands. “I care about you!”
You roll your eyes, tears running down your cheeks. “Then why the fuck did you sleep with someone else?”
Harrison takes a step away from you as if he suddenly can’t bear to be so close to you. His piercing blue eyes flickering around the empty street, looking everywhere but at you.
“Because I can’t have you.”
For a few seconds, it feels like all the air got punched out of your lungs and there’s only one thought jumping around in your head at full speed. Because I can’t have you. Because. I. Can’t. Have. You.
Almost an eternity pass before you can react. You open and close your mouth a hundred times, only staring at the blonde with wide eyes. “I- what?” you whisper, your brain still not ready to form a sentence. You place your hand on your forehead, feeling an headache built. This cannot be real.
“I never-” Harrison starts, but can’t bring himself to continue. “Y/n, please. Please let me explain.”
You raise your hand to stop him before it gets too much. The next words cost you all the strength you have left in yourself. “I’m sorry, but I can’t do this right now.”
Now he’s the speechless one. “Okay, it’s fine,” he mumbles, but the sad expression never leaves his face. “We can talk tomorrow. If you want.”
“I- I think I need more than tomorrow.”
You notice the way his left hand lifts a little, as if he’s thinking about touching you, getting closer again. But he never does.
“Sure. Text me when you’re ready.” He pushes his hands into his jacket, his gaze lingering a moment longer on your face. “I’ll tell Tom to bring you home.”
“Thank you, Harrison.”
-
You needed more than two days, in fact, you needed two whole weeks to be finally ready to talk to Harrison. You feel like you are swapped into another universe, because you sure as hell wouldn’t be talking about feelings with Harrison in this universe.
You had much time to think about everything in the past weeks, and you realized that it hasn’t always been like this with Harrison. Sure, you haven’t been friends, but you didn’t hate each other either. You remember meeting Harrison some time after Tom and his other friends, and you were actually excited to meet him.
Tom and you met each other in the school library and haven’t been separated since then. All of Tom’s friends were nice and kind enough to bring you into their friend group. Harrison however wasn’t as happy to see you sitting at lunch with his friends - and next to his best friend Tom. The whole atmosphere changed when you first locked eyes with the blonde.
But, after spending some time at lunch and in the library together, Harrison slowly accepted you, much to your surprise. You did get along for some time, even if you talked not more than two sentences in a week and sat as far away as possible from the other.
There wasn’t a specific reason why you didn’t become friends, it just seemed like it wouldn’t work. You had too different opinions and interests, while also being the same person characterful. Harrison became the popular boy at school that every girl had a crush on, and you became the popular girl that didn’t want him. In a way, you both despised the other for doing the same thing - you despised Harrison for breaking girls’ hearts, and he despised you for wrapping his friends around your finger.
You made it your mission to show Harrison as much as you could that he was just a player and you would never ever end with someone like him. While Harrison’s goal was to show you how big you were missing out.
You overstepped the line more than once with your teasing, and you know what they say about that - the people who tease each other, love each other.
Knocking on Harrison’s apartment door, you can feel your fast beating heart in your throat. You run a hand through your hair, trying to stop you from running away. It’s now or never.
Harrison opens the door a few seconds later, and as soon as his gaze lands on you, his eyes light up.
“Hi Haz,” you whisper.
“Hi.”
You rub your sweaty palms against your jeans. This is worse than a first date with someone you always had a crush on.
“I wanted to talk. Can I come in?”
“Sure.” Harrison opens the door wider to let you in.
You walk past him, quickly looking around. “You sure that no one else is here again?” you try to joke, turning around to meet Harrison with a smile.
“Send her home before you got here,” he replies, without letting the seriousness on his face wash away.
You press your lips together. “Alright.”
The corners of his mouth turn up. “Joking. Sorry.”
Turning around again, you ignore him. “Where should we talk?”
“Wherever you want. Make yourself feel at home,” he mumbles from behind you.
You sit down on the sofa, tugging your legs together. Even after all the tense moments you shared, it has never been this awkward. The last time you’ve sat right here was when you made out while watching a movie. Your gaze wanders to Harrison, and you know he’s thinking the same.
“I just-” you both say at the same time, making you smile. You make a hand gesture to mention for him to speak first.
“First of all, I never actually hated you, y/n,” he explains and stares right into your eyes. You raise your eyebrows, but he doesn’t give you time to say something.
“I was amazed by you when we first met, I was gone for one week and when I came back to school, there was a total stranger sitting at our table and laughing with my friends as if you’ve known them for ages. It wasn’t like everyone could come into our group and be friends with us.”
A smile takes over your face. That’s the first and only compliment he has ever given you.
He returns the smile for a moment. “And maybe I was a little jealous because-”
“-Because I stole your best friend.”
Harrison grins. “No, because he spent so much time with you and I wanted to do the same.”
“But you did not like me at some point, I saw it in your cold blue eyes,” you say, pointing at his face, and he lets out a loud laugh.
He grabs your hand to hold it, and you let him. “That’s true. At one point in our… complicated relationship, I did in fact not like you.”
“And why?”
For a moment he hesitates. “Because it felt like you could wrap everyone around your finger with just one smile. I saw you leaving parties or whatever with some of Tom’s friends or colleagues and I never said anything to anyone, but whenever I left with someone, I know that the others talked shit about it and I know you did say a few things too.” He sighs, looking apologizing. “That just didn’t sit right with me, so I made some comments to Tom about it and of course-”
“- he gave you a lecture,” you finish.
“Yes. I know it was a dumb reason, but every time I saw you leaving with someone after that, I grew more and more pissed, and at one point it got too much.”
You press your lips together. “I’m sorry for talking shit behind your back. I know it wasn’t right to judge you for something I did too.” You squeeze his hand, a grin forming on your lips, “even if you did it a looot more than me.”
“And you slept in Tom’s bed like every weekend.”
Your grin grows wider. “So you were jealous.”
“I already said that, y/n.”
“I know, I just wanted to hear it again,” you smirk.
He shakes his head, smiling slightly. “I’m sorry for all the shit I did in High school. You know, all that I’m trying to make you jealous stuff.”
You frown. “It’s alright, you know I tried to do the same.”
“Even if you always said you would never fall for me,” he smirks, “and look at us now.”
“You’re an idiot,” you nudge him with your knee, and Harrison pulls you a bit closer. “You never made a move.”
Raising his brows, he runs a hand through his small locks. “I couldn’t. And I thought you didn’t want me to make a move.”
“Did Tom forbid it?”
“No. Never,” he blinks in surprise. “He wouldn’t do that.”
A small smile crosses his lips. “He was actually our biggest supporter after we started hooking up. He was all like, Thank me at your wedding for bringing you together. And so on. You know him.”
That makes you smile. “That sounds like him.”
“So, y/n, do you like me?” he asks without hesitation.
A surprised laugh leaves your lips. “What question is that?”
“Just answer it.”
You narrow your eyes at him. “No, I don’t like you,” you answer with all seriousness.
He leans over to you and smiles, his eyes wandering over your face until they stop at your eyes again.
“Stop looking at me like that,” you scoff, but can’t hold back a small smile either.
His shy smile turns into a lopsided smirk as he leans even closer to you, his arm wrapping around your waist. Your body relaxes under his touch.
You turn your gaze away, rolling your eyes. “I don’t have any feelings for you, Harrison,” you mumble.
“I don’t believe that.”
You meet his burning eyes again. Leaning forward a bit, you tilt your head up to meet his lips for a small kiss. “See? No feelings. Nothing,” you smile proudly and try to turn away again.
But Harrison still doesn’t buy your bluff and continues to look at you with his beautiful eyes and gorgeous smile, and it’s almost too hard to stay away.
It doesn’t take long for your eyes to find his blue ones, and you can’t resist the urge to feel his lips on yours again. You both lean forward and your lips touch in the middle as if it’s the righteous thing in the world. You’ve been wrong a lot of times in your life, but this - this kiss right now - has never felt more right.
“You like me,” he grins widely against your mouth.
You kiss him again. “And you like me.”

Weekends at the frat were always busy. It was like as soon as five pm on Friday rolled around it was a revolving door of people. Some people the boys knew, some people they had seen but never spoken to, and some people that were completely strangers. None of them minded of course, part of being in the frat was throwing parties and they were determined to do it better than any of the other fraternities on campus.
Most of the occupants of the frat were sitting in an area they usually claimed as their own on nights like these. Talking to each other and ignoring the rowdy party goers aside from the occasional attractive girl that would saunter by catching their eye (or boy in Travis' case). Tonight was no different.
Harry always steered away from girls who were drinking, he had a very specific set of rules, no alcohol, no leading on, and absolutely no falling in love with him. He knew it was strange, but he had a rugby Career to think of, and he planned on going pro. So he was straight forward if he started talking to a girl, hence the no Alcohol rule. Which brings us to the particular topic of today's conversation amongst the boys.
"All I'm saying," Tom announced, "is that, you either suck in bed, or girls are really not into you," there was a collective round of oos from the other guys as Harry rolled his eyes.
"I tell them they can't fall in love with me from the get go, keeps them from getting all clingy," Harry reminded Tom with a smirk.
Tom sighed as he took a swig of his drink, "I'm just saying, I doubt you could get a girl to fall in love with you, you're too cocky," he told his younger brother.
True to Tom's word Harry just scoffed, "I could have anyone in this room fall in love with me," he chuckled.
Tom narrowed his eyes on his younger brother. "Wanna bet on that?" He asked with a smirk.
That caught Harry's attention. "Fine, what'll it be?" Harry challenged.
"If you can get a girl of my choosing to fall in love with you, you win bragging rights," Tom explained.
Harry nodded as he mulled the idea in his head but it wasn't him who spoke next. "That could take weeks," Sam pointed out with a worried expression, he always seemed to be the most level headed of the three Hollands (Four when they were back home).
"Maybe," Tom shrugged, "but Mr.cocky over here could probably get it done faster," Tom glanced over to Harry to see his eyes narrowed at him.
"Fine," Harry agreed, "who will it be?"
Tom's finger was up and pointing across the room before Harry had even finished his sentence.
Every boy turned to where Tom was pointing, and there you stood. A drink in your hand that was still full from when you had gotten it an hour prior, standing beside your cousin and flatmate, as you didn't know anyone else there. Harry had never seen you, and didn't know a thing about you, but Tom (who had been sleeping with your cousin Malory) knew exactly who you were and what had brought you here, and he knew that out of everyone in this room, you would be the last person to fall for his brother.
"Who is that?" Harrison asked, breaking the silence and causing all of them to turn their attention from where you stood.
"Mal's cousin, she just transferred here," Tom explained.
Harry watched you for a few minutes more before turning back to his brother and sticking out his hand. Tom grasped his with his own and shook. "Got yourself a deal," Harry announced before finishing the beer in his hand, and gearing up to make his move.
Meanwhile, you were as uncomfortable as you had ever felt. Malory had told you coming out tonight would be good for you, help you get out of the funk you were most definitely in. But the truth was, you didn't want to be here, you would rather be anywhere but here.
Mal was popular, so there wasn't a moment where she wasn't introducing you to another person, and socially you were drained. You didn't want to have to tell another person who you were, or that you had transferred over from the states, and you definitely didn't want to tell them why. You spotted a boy with curly red hair making his way towards the two of you, he was cute, with nicely styled Auburn hair, a cute smile, and a generous dusting of freckles on his cheeks.
"Nope!" Mal yelled as she pointed a boney finger out towards him, "turn your ass around Holland Jr. And go find someone else," she told him strictly.
His hands flew up to his chest as though he had been stabbed by her words and he feigned heartache. "Me? What have I ever done to you Malory?" He questioned as he walked up until he was directly in front of the two of you.
He cast you a grin, before turning back to Malory. "I'm serious Harry," she warned, "don't even think about it," she told him with a look that threatened death.
The boy, who's name you had just learned was Harry, nodded at her. "I was just coming to say hi, I've never seen you around before," he turned his attention to you.
"What about the other fifty people you have never seen around before?" Malory asked before you could even respond.
Harry shrugged, "none of them caught my eye quite like her," he told her before turning back towards you.
You had to give it to him, he was good, maybe too good, as though he had done this time and time again.
You smiled politely. "Y/n." You said as you stuck your hand out for him to shake.
He grasped it in his and brought it up to his lips, kissing the skin of your hand gently.
"Harry," he told you, though you had already gathered that.
"Ok, you introduced yourself, now go away. And tell that brother of yours to stay away from me tonight," Mal told him as she gave him a shove back towards a group of guys she had previously told you were the fraternity brothers.
A few to many people and an eternity later, you were standing alone, watching a sea of drunk people dancing like no one was watching. You had lost Mal about a half an hour ago and you weren't entirely sure what you were supposed to do. You wanted to go home, but the problem with that was you weren't sure how to get there or where exactly you were. You were the perfect victim for a predator right now you realized. "You don't look like you're having a good time," a familiar voice said. You turned to see the same curly haired boy from earlier standing beside you.
You shook your head, "my social clock stopped ticking, but I don't know where Mal went," you admitted.
"She and Tom ran off to his room," Harry told you with an apologetic smile.
"Oh," you mumbled as you looked at the ground.
"Are you going to be able to get home without her?" He wondered as he touched your arm.
"I uh, I don't know how to get there from here, and she has the car keys," you admitted, as you cringed at the idea that you were a sitting duck.
"I'll take you home," Harry told you like it was the simplest option.
You shook your head and glanced at his nearly empty cup, "you have been drinking," you pointed out.
He nodded and then chuckled, "I have, and I would never put you in a dangerous position, so I'll walk you," he said, "it's not to far from here, and I am all to familiar with Mal's place from how many times I've had to pick up a hungover Tom there the morning after," he told you as he lead you through the front door of the frat.
You stopped at the stairs and glanced at him unsure. This was a recipe for disaster, not only did you not know this guy, but you also didn't know the area, and your true crime loving brain was screaming at you to stay put and just wait for Mal, but something else was telling you you could trust this guy.
So despite every red flag you followed him down the stairs to the sidewalk. "Is that alcohol?" He asked as he gestured to the cup in your hands.
You nodded at him as you watched him take it from your hands and dump it into the grass beside you. "Don't want you getting in trouble for an open container," he explained.
You nodded and eyed him skeptically. He was handsome, that you could easily admit. And there was something about him. He seemed to have a cocky attitude, but you could see that maybe that wasn't all it was underneath, maybe this boy was as broken and damaged as you were, or maybe he was just a cute boy offering to walk a helpless girl home.
"Thanks for doing this," you said after a few minutes of walking.
He shrugged but smiled, "I'd rather you get home safe than feel partially responsible if anything happened to you," he explained.
"So what's the deal with Mal and -" you trailed off as you tried to remember the name of the boy Mal was most obviously involved with even if they did have real enemies to lovers vibes going on.
"I don't know honesty," Harry admitted, "Tom is- well Tom is Tom, and Him and Mal have some history, but it gets messy when they're together," he chuckled. "She poured milk on his mattress once and dragged it out in the sun so the milk would spoil, he says it's because he didn't take her out, but I have a feeling it was more than that," he told you.
You nodded as you wrapped your arms around yourself the brisk night air nipping at your skin.
"You're cold," Harry said as he slipped off his jacket and draped it over your shoulders.
You couldn't help but giggle.
"Thank you," you said.
You were finally approaching an area you were vaguely familiar with and it eased some of the tension in your bones. That is until you saw the steps leading to your apartment building, and who was sitting on them
"Oh no," you groaned as you went to turn right around and flee, you would wait for Mal at the fraternity you didn't care how long she'd be, anything to avoid what was about to come.
"Y/n! Y/n! Is that you?" Markus called from behind you.
Harry could easily see the tension in your body at the sound of the man's voice. "You want me to tell this guy to kick rocks?" He asked you.
You weren't a confrontational person, in the slightest, you didn't like dealing with problems if they had the possibility of becoming heated. But in this instance, you couldn't take him being here. So you nodded at Harry, thankful he was there with you.
"Hey, how bout you come by another time buddy, she doesn't want to talk right now," Harry called towards where Markus was standing staring at the two of you.
"And who the hell are you?" He demanded stepping forward.
"No one, but the lady doesn't want to talk tonight, so go on and go home, yeah?" Here Harry was, dealing with your problems with no back story or explanation, just the simple fact that he could tell you needed it.
"That's really nice y/n, you ran off and hopped on the first dick you can find, doesn't matter that I'm the only guy you've been with, right. You said it yourself, your lacking experience," he spat in your direction.
Harry recoiled back at the words before shaking them off. "Hey listen mate, just get lost," Harry told him.
At this point Markus had started to get closer to the two of you, only standing a few feet away, you had your face hidden behind Harry, who you were practically using as a human shield. "Yeah?" Markus asked dryly. "So you can go sink your dick in the slut standing behind you? I don't think so,"
The noise of bone crunching, Is a very distinct one, of course followed by a howl of pain.
You jumped back ready to call the cops if Markus had struck Harry, but were surprised to see Markus clutching his nose in pain as Harry shook out the hand he had just used to punch him.
"First off, don't call her a slut," Harry spat, taking a step towards Markus who began backing up, "and second, she doesn't want to see you, so get lost," he finished as Markus grabbed his coat and fled.
You stood staring at Harry with your mouth agape completely unsure at what had just transpired. "I- wha-" you shook your head in disbelief as you glanced over to see Markus' car peeling out of the parking lot.
"Are you ok?" Harry wondered as he looked you over.
"Am I- what? Me? Are you okay?" You stuttered out. You glanced at his hand to see blood and instantly felt guilty. "Your bleeding," you stated.
He looked down at his knuckles and shrugged, "I'll be fine," he assured you.
You shook your head as you told your brain to kick back into action, "come on," you told him as you walked past him and grabbed his uninjured hand. "I have a first aid kit upstairs, and alcohol, because I need a shot," you admitted as you pulled him along.
"I figured you didn't drink," Harry chuckled from behind you.
You glanced back at him with your eyebrows pulled together. "Why would you figure that?"
"You had the same cup all night and you didn't touch it at all," he explained.
You were shocked he had noticed that, he must have been watching you most of the night to even put that together. You nodded as you pulled your keys from your pocket. "I um- I don't like to let my inhabitants down around people I don't know," you admitted.
You unlocked the door and pushed it open and let Harry in before you followed.
First step was a shot.
Second, a first aid kit.
You chose to drink straight from the bottle of peach flavored vodka, the cheap liquid burning all the way down.
"You don't know me," Harry chuckled as he pointed towards the liquor.
You nodded, "well you just punched my shitty ex in the nose without having any explanation of why I didn't want to speak to him. Guess that makes us acquaintances, " you smiled as you rummaged around the cupboards until finding the first aid kit.
"I can work with that," Harry chuckled as he watched you.
If he was being honest, he wasn't one to act with anger, rarely ever getting physical with people other than his brothers, or opposing teams on the field, But something about how sour the word slut had been directed at you made him react without a second thought. He told himself it was for the benefit of the bet, but honestly, he just wanted to protect you from that, and he had no idea why.
"Oh yeah?" You wondered with a grin.
"Mhmm," Harry said, "step up from strangers, and a step closer to friends," he wiggled his eyebrows at you.
"Friends," you chuckled. "right,"
"You're going to need some of those you know, uni is hard enough as is, having people to talk to makes it more barrable," he explained.
You nodded, mulling over the thought of being his friend. "Yeah alright, tell you what, we're friends," you chuckled at him. He smiled wide at you before you interrupted. "On one condition,"
He narrowed his brows at you but nodded. "Shoot,"
"It doesn't go further than that, ever," if there was one thing you were sure of it was that you couldn't take another heartbreak, and Harry.. well he seemed like the perfect boy to break your heart. You had to protect yourself after all, even if you were selling short an opportunity.
Harry's eyes widened as he looked at you. All too aware of the bet with Tom becoming a whole lot more difficult. "Deal y/n, friends and nothing more," he stuck out his hand for you to shake and you rolled your eyes as you grabbed it and pulled it towards you to clean.
"Now let's get this cleaned up," you mumbled as you wet a gauze pad with some rubbing alcohol.
"Aww shit," he hissed as you pressed it to his busted knuckle. "So now since we're friends, what was that guy's deal anyway?" He Wondered as he winced while you proceeded to clean his hand.
"Basic story," you sighed. "Highschool sweetheart, lost my virginity to him, thought it was forever, only to have my heart crushed when my best friend told me that they had been sleeping together for months," you ripped a bandaid open and sealed it over the split in Harry's knuckle noticing a bunch of partially healed cuts and scars along with callouses. "He begged me to forgive him, and explained that I was an idiot if I moved to throw away all the good years we had had over a few months. So I packed a bag, left a note that said I was an idiot and flew to Scotland for two months, then Mal told me she had a room open and I enrolled here for school, picked up and completely upended my life," you explained.
"You're not an idiot," Harry said sternly.
You nodded with a smile, "no I'm not, I just, I know what I'm worth, and it's a whole lot more than that," you grabbed the bottle of vodka again taking a swing before offering it to Harry.
He eyed you for a minute before shrugging and throwing it back. "So what now? You have given up on love all together?" He wondered.
You chuckled before nodding. "Something like that, it's not worth the pain, you know, it feels good for a while, but then to have your heart destroyed," you sighed as you stared at the wall, "no one deserves to feel that, like you weren't enough, or you were just some means to an end," you told him.
Harry cringed at that last statement. He wanted to call Tom and call the whole thing off, there was no way he could go through with this and risk you getting hurt in the crossfire, especially with you being so open with him, this wasn't worth bragging rights, hell it probably wasn't worth anything Tom had to offer. He pulled his phone from his pocket seeing a text from Tom that read 'I expect a full report in the morning lover boy,' and suddenly the idea of throwing the bet out the window went right out the window instead.
Harry would come to regret this moment, and he knew that without a shadow of a doubt. You deserved more than to be part of something so childish without knowing, but his competitive cocky nature made him headstrong, and that, that was his problem.
"So," Harry sighed, sitting back and looking at you. "only guy you have ever been with huh?"
You groaned as you grabbed the bottle of vodka and made your way to the L shaped couch. "Yup, 23 years old and I've only slept with one person, which either makes me extremely sad or extremely lucky," you shrugged as you took another swig of the drink. "Guess it just depends on who you ask. What about you?" You wondered, your attention turned back toward where he was leaning against the counter.
"What about me?" He asked with a grin.
"Come on," you chuckled. "You must get around with a smile and face like that," you teased.
Harry just rolled his eyes before making his way to the couch beside you. "Nothing serious," he admitted. "A few flings, but that's it," he told you.
You nodded, offering him the bottle again which he gladly took.
You spent the next late hours chewing the shit and becoming fast friends. There was an undeniable chemistry between the two of you that you couldn't deny, but there was no way you would ever act on it.
You yawned as you glanced at the clock on the wall, it was nearly 3 am and between the two of you guys, you had nearly finished the vodka. "We should get some sleep," you mumbled as you let your eyes fall closed.
"We've been friends for only a few hours and we're already having sleepovers?" Harry chuckled as he sprawled out on the couch, his arm draped around your legs. "How scandalous," he mumbled before his breathing got heavy and passed out.
Harry's head pounded as his eyes fluttered open the next morning, to a terrifying sight. Harry gasped as he sat up seeing a very angry Mal standing above him. "I specifically told you no," she warned.
"I didn't do anything," Harry protested, and he was telling the truth, he hadn't done anything, which in and of itself was not like him at all.
"She's not another mark on your bedpost Harry," she told him with a sigh. "She's been through a lot in life and she doesn't need any of the drama that comes along with a Holland,"
Harry looked at Mallory with a serious face before he answered. "We're not all Tom Mal. I just want to be her friend nothing more," the lie felt heavy on his tongue as he said it, but it seemed to be enough for her.
She nodded and then looked at you still fast asleep on the couch. "I'll kill you if you hurt her," she warned.
"I'll hold you to that," Harry said honestly, because suddenly he was worried hurting you just might break him.
You awoke to the smell of something delicious. You pushed up from the couch to find Mal standing at the stove. "Morning you floozy," you chuckled as you stretched your arms above your head.
"I can say the same to you," she giggled as she looked over at you with a funny look.
"What?" You wondered with narrowed eyes, and then last night came flooding back into your mind. You glanced over to the other side of the couch to find it empty.
"He left this morning when I got home," she told you as she turned back to the food she was cooking.
"Oh," you mumbled as you stood up from the couch.
"Y/n, I meant what I said yesterday," she sighed as she turned around to face you again. "The Holland's, they are bad news, and Harry is the worst of them," she told you.
You shook your head. "We're only friends Mal," you assured her.
She nodded, "well Tom and I aren't even that and look what he does to me," she grumbled.
You felt bad. Honestly you did. But you and Harry were only friends, and you had agreed to be nothing more. So what was the danger there?
As soon as Harry had gotten home Tom was all over him. "So?" He wondered.
"What? You think I have a fucking magic dick or something?" Harry scoffed.
"You used your dick then? Noted." Tom chuckled loudly.
Harry was tired, and more than a little irritated. "No actually, I don't have to lead with my dick to get someone to talk to me," he spat at his older brother, before bounding his way up to his room.
"Well maybe if you did this would go faster," Tom chuckled, ignoring Harry's obviously bad attitude.
"Yeah, whatever Tom," Harry grumbled before stripping his clothes off to get in the shower.
"Call it quits if you want mate, I won't judge you none," Tom called through the bathroom door.
Harry should have taken that out, he should have called it quits, because he didn't see an end where this didn't end in a disaster, but he couldn't, he couldn't back out now. "piss off Tom," he called through the door.
The next few days were a blur, between beginning your classes and trying to get a lay of the land you barely had a minute to yourself. You walked out of your creative writing class with the full intention to go home, strip off your clothes, run yourself a nice bath and relax.
"Hey you," you heard from behind you.
You turned to see Harry standing there, with a gym duffle bag slung over his shoulder. "Oh Harry, hi," you said.
"I uh- I didn't get your number last weekend," he chuckled before holding out his phone to you. "Hard to get ahold of friends when you don't have a way to contact them," you smiled at him and took the phone from his hand, entering in your number.
"Here you go," you told him.
He looked over the screen and smiled "y/n/n?" He asked.
"My friends get to call me that," you winked before turning to head in the direction of home.
"Hey!" Harry called, running after you. "I was thinking, were having a party this weekend-"
"You live in a frat, aren't there parties every weekend?" You wondered.
"Touche," Harry chuckled. "Anyways, I'm not really feeling up to it and I was wondering if maybe you wanted to go somewhere with me?" He asked you.
You stopped dead in your tracks and looked at him. "Go somewhere?" You squeaked.
"Yeah, just two friends hanging out," Harry clarified.
You nodded, his words not really easing the sudden ache in your stomach. "Um, yeah. Yeah that sounds fun," you lied. It did not sound fun, if anything it sounded like a disaster in the making.
"Cool," Harry sighed in relief, "I'll pick you up Saturday morning at 8," and then he was gone.
"8am?" You yelled after him.
"Bright and early sunshine!" He called back before disappearing all together.
Recipe. For. Disaster.
So there you were 7:45 on a Saturday morning debating on what outfit looked the best to spend the day with Harry. You had been texting non stop since you gave him your number, and he had told you to wear something casual that you didn't mind getting dirty.
Mal was nowhere to be found having gone out last night to do something. That something being Tom, you had no doubt about that.
Having no one to ask about your current outfit, you Snapped a picture and sent it to Harry asking him if was ok.
His response was immediate.
H- dare I say you look edible?
Y/n- Harry! You can't say that!
H- ohhh, ok. Then you look perfect y/n/n
H- pulling up now.
H- get your edible ass down here.
You rolled your eyes as you grabbed your purse and made your way down to the entrance to your apartment.
Harry was out of the car and standing on the passenger side holding the door open for you as soon as you stepped out. "And they say chivalry is dead," you chuckled as you slid into the seat and buckled yourself.
"Whoever said that has obviously not met any of the Holland's," he teased back.
You let out a laugh before turning to him. "Do you know what is said about 'the Holland's'?" You asked.
He shot you a funny look before you continued, "you boys have a reputation for being bad news, absolute heartbreakers," you told him.
"Woah," he said as he turned onto a road you were unfamiliar with, "I'm very straightforward with all the girls I evolve myself with that they should not fall in love with me,"
You rolled your eyes at that, "it's not always that simple, sometimes it just happens and you can't even pinpoint when," you explained.
He nodded, "I guess I just wouldn't know, never been in love," he admitted.
You felt utter shock wash over you. "Never?!" You demanded.
He shook his head, "can't get your heart broken if you keep it hidden," he said. "Plus I'm a busy guy, between rugby and my classes, not much time or energy to keep a relationship,"
"Harry," you whispered, "that's kind of sad," you looked at him with his full attention on the road ahead of you, he nodded slightly before taking a deep breath.
"It may be, but I haven't had to try and pick up the pieces of my heart because someone else shattered it. If my heart gets broken, I want to blame myself," Harry admitted.
You sighed before sitting back into the car seat and staring out the window wondering where the heck he was taking you.
Eventually, Harry pulled the car off the road and put it in park in front of what seemed to be a giant canal, with an amazing view.
"Where are we?" You wondered as you unbuckled yourself and climbed out of the car.
"This is where I come, when I want to escape," he told you. "Come on, I have something to show you," he stopped at the trunk of his car before pulling out a large bag and then walking forward, grabbing your hand as he passed by.
The walk was short and when he finally stopped walking you were amazed. Underneath a bridge, that had a perfect shield of privacy all while still giving you a full view of the canal and all it had to offer.
"Wow," you said as you sat down on a large rock.
Harry nodded as he watched you take it all in, this was his place, the one he would come to anytime he just couldn't take it anymore and needed a way out. To be sharing it with someone felt so weird, but also right. He hadn't planned to bring you here, having a whole other day planned, but after the constant texts and getting to know you in the past week, he knew he wanted to share this with you.
"It's my favorite place," Harry admitted.
"You probably bring all the girls here," you teased with a smile.
Harry sighed, "actually, I've never bought anyone here," he told you. He rummaged around his bag before pulling out a few waters and handing you one. "I also made you a sandwich in case you get hungry," he told you.
You pulled your bottom lip between your teeth as you stared at him. A sudden onset of feelings you were not supposed to be feeling rushing over you. "Thank you," you whispered.
Harry nodded, before sitting next to you. "So," he said after a minute of silence. "Tell me something you have never admitted out loud," he told you.
You chuckled as you thought about it. There were a few options that came to mind, but most that were childish and not worth saying out loud, so you went with the one that had been eating away at you for the last few years. "I don't think I have ever had an orgasm," you admitted, staring ahead.
Harry's eyes flew open in shock at your words as he spit his drink out, effectively covering you in water. "I'm sorry, what?!" Harry demanded as he tried to help you wipe yourself off.
You shrugged, "you know how, like if your going to go to an amusement park, the day before your all excited because you have been hearing about this amazing ride, and you can't wait to ride it, and then you get there, and it's the carousel," you explained. "That's how sex always was for me, and I never have been able to get really into doing it myself," you admitted.
"So you don't know if you have? Or you never have?" Harry wondered.
You sighed as you thought about it. "I don't think I ever have," you laughed as you threw your head back laughing. "How sad is that?" You chuckled.
"Extremely," Harry chuckled before taking a deep breath. "I could uh," he looked over at you. "I could help you," he shrugged.
You felt your mouth drop open at that. Help you? With like… getting off? So you said the only thing that came to your mind. "Help me?" You wondered.
He nodded, "I won't touch you or anything, unless you ask me to, but yeah, I could you know, help I guess,"
"How?" You asked suddenly breathless with the situation at hand.
Harry's eyebrows shot up, "like you want me to show you?" He Wondered.
All you could do was nod. Stupid girly hormones.
Harry took a deep breath before nodding himself. "Just a friend helping a friend," he whispered to himself.
He grabbed your hands as he pulled you from where you were sitting on the rock and began to push you back towards the cement wall. You gasped as your back hit the wall and Harry's body was only a few inches away from you.
"I'm going to hold your hips to help you move," he told you with a husky voice, "but you're going to do all the work, I won't do anything you're uncomfortable with, and if you want me to stop, say the word and I will," he explained. You nodded as you stared up into his warm brown eyes, an ache forming in your stomach. "I need you to say the word y/n/n," he whispered.
"Yes," you whispered, Harry kicked your legs apart with one of his before slotting his knee between your legs and pushing his thigh against your core, his hands firmly planted on your hips as he began to help you grind against him.
It was almost pathetic, because in all the times you had had actual sex it never felt as good as this did. You stared into Harry's lust filled eyes wishing he would lean in and kiss you, dear God did you want his lips on yours.
He pulled you against his thigh firmly and you let out a moan as your eyes drifted shut and your head fell back.
"That's it," Harry mumbled as he continued what he was doing. "Just relax and let go," he cooed.
You couldn't help the way his words made you feel, making the whole situation that much better, you felt yourself begin to loose control as your breathing increased and your legs tightened around Harry's thigh.
"Oh fuck," you moaned out as a sudden wave of ecstasy washed over you, and you knew for certain, you most definitely had never had an orgasm before now, and you had just had your first one riding Harry Holland's' thigh.
How. Embarrassing.
As you came down from the high you opened your eyes to see Harry staring at you, his own eyes full of lust and unspoken desires. "That was the sexiest thing I've ever seen in my life," he admitted.
You felt yourself become all to aware of his thigh still pressed firmly against you. "Friends helping friends," you chuckled.
Harry nodded as he glanced down to your lips before shaking his head and backing up. "I need to- I need- give me a minute," he told you as he made his way out of sight, walking a little funny with an obvious problem in his pants.
You felt yourself exhale, completely shocked that you had let that happen. That happened.
Holy. Shit.
You shook your limbs as you made your way back to the rocks you had been sitting on before.
You could hear Harry mumbling off on the side he had disappeared off to. "Fucking div," he groaned. "Friends? Friends don't fucking do that. Fuck, friends don't look at you like that," he exhaled loudly before slowly returning.
You watched him as he rounded the rock to sit beside you. He took a deep breath before returning to you. "I have to be honest." He sighed. "I lied to you before," he admitted.
You felt your brows furrow as you looked at him, "about?" You wondered.
"Friends don't usually help friends like that," Harry explained.
You couldn't help the laugh that erupted from your chest. "Well they should," you teased with a smile.
Harry turned away from you with a smile before shaking his head. "So did I help you out? Or no?" He wondered with his bottom lip pinned between his teeth.
"You helped me out tremendously," you giggled.
He nodded before turning away to adjust himself.
"Fuck, tell me we can never do that again, for the sake of our friendship," Harry demanded.
"Ok," you whispered.
"Tell me now y/n, or so help me," he groaned.
"We can't do it again Harry, for the sake of our friendship," you told him with a smirk.
He nodded before looking at you shocked, "you didn't say never," he reminded.
"Didn't I?" You teased.
The next few weeks were spent together. When you weren't at class, you were usually with Harry, whether it be at the frat, your apartment, his practice, or your guys spot upon the canal, you had grown to be inseparable.

"WHAT!?"
Brian's white satin shirt was almost stained with a nice coffee stain which you almost choked out upon the question. What a morning. Outstanding.
"Yep, we're a little short on hands after Amelia's leave so" he left the sentence incomplete for you to understand it but soon continued in his defense, "the position can not be offered to just anyone even if its for a couple of days so ple-"
"what makes me so special?" you interrogated in hopes if you could get some answers as to why do you always get so weak in your knees and heart when you even go closer to the lift let alone the the 10th floor.
"Well Amelia wouldn't just anyone with her job as I said even if its for a couple of days." Brian said.
Of course. Honestly Brian would have never guessed he'd have to convince someone for that position that desperately. His thoughts were interrupted when you said,
"Yes, I'll do it"
The alarm clock had its own concert in the morning, but it stopped after being slapped to the ground. "Good riddance" you thought. Your back curled as you tried to wake up and sat on your bed staring at the wall. What a normal morning. ha! you wish.
After freshening up and taking a bath you moved to the dressing table for your skin care routine. Not long after you were done and raced towards the kitchen to see Olivia munching her cereal.
"You'll get sick you know, do you realize how much sugar it has?" you said on passing her by and patting her head. "Not everyone can cook like you, you know especially not in the morning ahhhh why can't it be night every time."
"Then how will the sun shine?" you passed her toast and juice to fill her up with actual food. She whined but enjoyed the meal nevertheless. Olivia never had such care taken of her. Your mom sending her bath bombs and your dad sending you guys food which would last you for seven generations. She never spoke much about her past and the long scar on her left hand all the way to her shoulders never gave you the guts to ask about it. But if you ever had a sibling, its nice to look at how she would have looked and how you guys would've been together.
You smiled at her childish grin while she ate, so cute. The morning went by peacefully until you met Brian in the café while waiting for yours's and Amelia's coffee. He told you she had taken a month long leave and dropped the bomb.
The fact that Brian found you trustworthy enough after meeting you for the first time was amazing and something you never guessed. But that pull you keep feeling someone you never knew will keep distracting you from your work and you couldn't have it. Do your work well or don't do it all; that was your moto.
So you agreed. Still hesitant but you did.
"Hello?" you asked on the phone.
"Yes, Y/N." you were lucky she answered. "Um Hi, are you okay? How are you?" Amelia wasn't one of those people who would take leaves for no good reason.
"Yeah I'm okay. I'm sorry I couldn't call you, I was just a little....occupied" the last part was stretched out.
"Oh okay its alright, but may I ask you something?" you were little embarrassed with your question. "Why you? Why are you covering for me? that's what you wanna ask right?" she guessed your question long before you could even ask.
"Look Y/N, I am usually never wrong about anyone let alone their personality so don't worry. Take up this chance well and prove yourself. Also we couldn't trust anyone enough" she was smiling on the other side of the call.
"than- wait a minute 'we'?" your eyebrows scrunched in doubt. You heard a couple of people quarreling and a few face palms. "Yeah me and Brian kiddo" she spoke in hurry.
yeah of course duh!
"Well thanks Amelia, I won't keep you long now. Bye" you concluded. "Good night"
"We were almost made out huh?" Brian spoke after a long deliberation and wait. "Yeah no shit, dumbfuck" Amelia threw a cushion at him.
They both chuckled.
"We'll have to be careful though" Tom said, alert on caution. "Yeah we can't have your mate run away now can we?" Amelia joked accompanied with Brian's laughter.
"Yeah no shit, dumb bitch. You almost scared her off the first day itself." Tom back answered. "You said intimidating" she grunted.
All three of them started to throw cushions at each other.
"Oh by the way, the council called." Brian informed.
"About the WIND? They have been meddling a lot haven't they?" Tom enquired. "Yeah, but they're taken care of, don't worry. I'll keep them in check" Amelia smirked.
"We know you will." Brian and Tom spoke together.
The three of them have been together and best of friends since they could remember. The council realized the importance of Amelia's and Brian's in Tom that he was supposed to be the next clan leader. Any disturbances were taken care of even before they were bought up in front of the council.
No one dared to challenge the alpha.
He was the leader even before he was crowned, for the people. When he said something, every one listened and followed.
But the only person, who could get him on his knees and make him go feral was you.
You wouldn't be able to concentrate in your work and he wouldn't be able to stop himself from going near you. Staying away was his only concern. He couldn't make himself being seen, not at least till you were safe.
After talking to Amelia, comfort and sleep took you in. You slept peacefully waiting for tomorrow and Tom slept thinking about you and how he had to keep you safe.
The two of you slept peacefully unknown of the mysteries and plans the rival clan, THE WIND was cooking up. But all that mattered right now was you
You only, for him.

Take One - H. Holland Blurb
NOTE: this is my first harry imagine, hope you like it! also harry works at a photography company in this imagine and is currently suffering baby fever mkay cool glad we’re on the same page
WARNINGS: eludes to smut at the end but other than that, none.
SUMMARY: husband!harry photographs newborns and contracts baby fever. fortunatley, you’re no better.
Tumblr media
“Angel!” Harry’s jubilant voice follows the unmistakable sound of your front door creaking open. You giggle to yourself as you continue folding the steaming clothes, still fresh from the dryer.
“In the bedroom!” You call out, already anticipating the feeling of his arms belting around your waist, and the familiar lens of his camera poking your back. While uncomfortable the first few times he forgot to remove his strapped camera from around his neck, the protuberance has grown on you.
“I just can’t help it.” You recall him mumbling on more than one occasion. “I get too excited to see you.”
This golden hour in your shared flat was no different. As soon as his heavy footsteps picked up on the house stairs, as did your heartbeat. The arms squeezed your waist next, then the camera nestled gently into your back, his unruly hair tickled your neck and–
You shivered at the newest addition–the cool exterior of his wedding band against your bare skin as his hands gilded beneath an old tee shirt you stole from the pile of clothes currently being folded.
“Today was so fun,” he never asked if you wanted to hear about his day because you always did. No matter if it was good or bad, his job always left him learning something new and coming straight home after to share it with you. Despite you being clueless about what EV compensation is or a stranger to white balance, you smiled and nodded anyway because his happiness was just that contagious. The tells that he’s suffered a phenomenal 9-5 were always there, too. He would bury his face into the crook between your neck and shoulder and plant a multitude of kisses there, while one of his hands glided to lock fingers with yours and squeeze it. And as a treat to himself–and you, as you will be listening to him jabber about his day in detail for the next hour–he always makes the same proposal.
“Let’s order Gregg’s for dinner.”
“Good day?” You query, topping the stack of folded clothes with a final sweatshirt before spinning to face him. He was practically glowing as he bounced on his toes–still clad in loafers with an unstoppable grin.
“Great day!” He corrects and reaches for his camera to bring up his most recent shots. We had these newborns come in today for their first photos.” You awe silently as he scrolls through some of the raw footage taken. Your eyes flickered from his work, back up to him. It seemed that with each colorful bow or animal onesie that flew past his eyes, his smile grew bigger.
“They were so cute!” He cooed, stopping at one in particular. The newborn child in the photo was presenting a sour face towards the lens. “This one reminds me of you.”
You yearn to argue, there is no denying the similarities. Especially towards the beginning of your relationship, Harry was keen on taking as many candids of you walking around your house, playing with Tessa, following your skincare routine, and several other mundane activities. The face the child is making in the photo is one, you too, have shown him on occasion. You simply laugh at the photo and elbow him in the side for the cheeky comment.
“In all seriousness, though. It got me thinking.”
“I never thought I’d see the day…” A gasp leaves you as you rest the palm of your hand on your chest.
“After they left, I couldn’t shake the thought of what you’d actually…look like.”
“As a baby? Because my mother has three albums worth of photos. And you’ve seen nearly all of them.”
“No, no.” He shakes his head, curls flopping around before he brings his fingers through them. “What I mean to say is…I wonder what your baby–our baby will look like.” He breathes out, not daring to meet your eyes. He is bouncing on his heels yet again, fingers nervously fidgeting with the buttons on his camera.
“Oh,” you hum. A few seconds of silence pass between you two, neither knowing what to say.
Until you finally beckon him, “just one?”
“Huh?” His whiskey eyes travel upward to meet yours, a bit of curiosity lingering in them.”
“You said, baby. You only want to have one?” You inch closer to him, hands silently snaking up his back to reach the clip to his camera. When it becomes unclasped, you gently set the piece on the edge of the bed.
“Well, actually I’ve always felt good about two.”
“Of course.” You nod understandingly. “You are a twin, after all.”
“Right.” He chuckles, before getting choked up as you take him by the back of his neck and draw his body closer to yours.
“That’s also double the chance one of them will get your freckles.” You whisper as your noses caress one another.
“Or your laugh.” He mimics your hushed tone.
“Or your curls.” You add.
“Or your dimples.” He suggests.
“Or your eyes.”
“Or your eyes.”
“Harry…” You start.
“Yes, angel?”
“Do you want to stop guessing, and try to find out?” Upon your recommendation, he begins walking forward until your legs meet the back of the bed and cause you to dip down, with his hand stabilizing your every move. When the two of you have proximity so near, his lips are smoothly brushing against yours. But before they can collide in a sweet reunion, he breathes out, just for confirmation:
“Take one?”
“Take one.”

Tom had told you to wear something nice but comfortable, so you tugged on some baggy jeans and tucked in a sweater, looping a belt around your waist and donning your feet with ankle boots. You did a little hair and makeup and put on simple jewelry and once you were done, you paced the living room expectantly.
“Honey, you look like you’re going to throw up. It’s just one little date!” your mom said when she passed by you to enter her office.
“It’s not just a little date, mom! This is the first time I’ve ever been out on a real date with a guy who I call my boyfriend, and I don’t want to mess this up!”
Your mom set down some papers and came back into the room.
“Based on the way that boy looks at you, I don’t think there’s a single thing you could do to mess things up,” she began, giving you a kiss on the head. The doorbell rang and you looked at each other. “Well go on, then. Don’t want to make him wait in the cold.”
You rushed to the door, taking one last deep breath before opening it. In front of you stood your boyfriend, holding a bouquet of dark red roses. You both smiled.
“These are for you. You look wonderful,” he said immediately, holding out the flowers, which you took happily. You led him inside.
“Wow, thank you. You don’t look half bad yourself,” you replied, going to set the flowers in the kitchen.
You weren’t lying, he really did look good.
He was wearing a pair of black jeans, a fitted black tee, and a grey felted coat over top. On his wrist was a silver watch you’d never seen and he’d finished the look with a belt and some black dress shoes. His curls were extra curly today and he’d pushed them back out of his face.
“It’s nice to see you, Tom! Congrats on the win last night,” your mother greeted. “And look at these! A man of good taste, I see.” she added, gesturing to the flowers before pulling a vase from the cabinet.
“Nice seeing you as well, Mrs. y/l/n. Is your husband around? I’d like to chat with him real quick,” Tom replied, earning wide eyes from you. Why would he want to talk to your dad?
“Oh, yes, he’s just in the office. I’m sure he wouldn’t mind chatting with you for a moment,” she said.
You led him down the hall to where your father was. The two men greeted each other with a handshake.
“I just wanted to say, sir, that your daughter is in good hands,” Tom explained. You mentally rolled your eyes.
This boy.
“Well that’s good to hear, but I know she can handle her own pretty well. That being said, you’re a smart young man with a good head on his shoulders, so I have no doubts that you’ll treat her right. Now go, have fun,” he said, then turned to you. “See you later, kiddo. Be safe.”
He kissed your head as Tom led you to the front door. You picked up your bag on the way out.
“So where are we going?” you asked the second both of your car doors were shut. He gave you a look.
“I was thinking that we go play a bit of topgolf, and then I’ve planned for us to have dinner at the steakhouse down the road,” he explained, cringing a little before quickly adding, “Is that alright? We can do something else if you want.”
You laughed lightly.
“Tom. That’s perfect. And you don’t have to spend all this money on me if you don’t want to. I’m very easily entertained.”
“That’s the thing. I really do want to do all this for you. You’re like, the woman of my dreams and I think you deserve to be treated as such.”
With that you headed off to the golf place. You were excited to know that his competitiveness wasn’t being threatened by your relationship.
“Alright, now I’m sure you know by now that I play golf on the side, so don’t be too discouraged if there’s a learning curve,” he explained confidently, a driver in hand. “Watch how it’s done a few times first, alright?”
He swaggered up to the tee box and hit a few balls, landing two in a far target. Even dating, you couldn’t help the natural banter between you.
“And that’s how you do it! Do you want some help on your swing?” he offered as you picked up a hybrid club. ‘You sure you wanna start with that one? Might be easier with an eight or nine iron.”
“Let me get one out of my system and I’ll go from there, alright?” you said. You lined up the club and looked out over the targets. With a smirk, you pulled back and swung through, sailing the ball right into a target.
“Huh. Must’ve been a lucky shot,” you said. Tom was looking at you suspiciously. “Maybe I should try another.”
You sent 3 more balls right into targets before Tom said anything.
“Now hold on here. Your form is perfect… Do you play golf? ” he asked. You burst into laughter.
“My dad taught me when I was a kid. I thought I’d be a little rusty since the last time I played was over the summer, but guess I’ve still got it,” you explained. His jaw dropped.
“You little shit! Just letting me believe you didn’t know what you were doing! And to think I was going easy on you. Well not anymore. No ma’am, the game is on!” he exclaimed, pulling you in to press a kiss to your cheek and tickle your side.
“Say you were letting me off easy all you want, I’m still gonna win,” you taunted.
“We’ll see about that.”
%
Between all the games you got in during your hour time slot, you and Tom had been pretty evenly matched. He had a further drive than you, though you were the more accurate one, so he ended up beating you by only a couple points.
You were joking around as he went to pay when an older couple from the family beside you came up to you.
“Hi there, sorry to bother. We just wanted to say that you reminded us of ourselves back in the day, and it brings us joy to see you two have so much fun together,” the man said.
You beamed at Tom as he pulled you tightly beside him.
“Thank you, that’s so sweet. This is our first real date together,” you shared happily.
“First date! Well, if you’re anything like us, you’re in for a wild ride,” the woman said with a wink. You exchanged a few parting words before heading back out and towards the steakhouse.
Your conversation with the couple had you thinking, though. Were you and Tom going to end up married like them? You hadn’t even dated a week and suddenly you were thinking about marriage?
Maybe this is moving too fast. But do I even mind it?
When you made it to the restaurant, Tom checked in and you waited for your reservation.
You were standing off to a corner watching the videos and commenting on the pictures you’d taken of each other at top golf when he had an idea.
“Oh, hey, we should get a picture together!”
He scanned the room and saw that nearby was a couple in their thirties just talking, so Tom approached them.
“Hi there, sorry to bother you, but do you mind taking a picture of my girlfriend and I?” he asked.
Your stomach fluttered. This was the first time he’d explicitly introduced you to anyone as his girlfriend. The woman grabbed his phone and you posed together in front of a decorative stone wall.
He thanked them and you were looking at the pictures she’d taken when the hostess called Tom’s name, leading you to a table towards the back of the restaurant.
The dinner was going well, the both of you laughing and talking like you had been in the past couple of weeks, except that now everything had a different intention behind it. You got a few glances as stares when you laughed a little too loud over Tom accidentally clinking his knife on a plate.
As you ate your entrees, you thought back to the pictures and videos you had taken of each other so far but not shared.
“When should we tell people about this? Us? I mean everyone already thinks we’re together, but… you know,” you trailed, stabbing your fork into your food and grabbing a bite.
“That depends on when you want to tell people. I’m happy to go shout it from a rooftop right now or wait until you’re comfortable. I only care about you.”
“Honestly, I want nothing more than to put your picture up on my instagram and tell everyone, but another part of me is afraid of what kind of rumors we’ll fuel.”
Tom chuckled as you went in for another bite.
“I’m pretty sure every move we make is under the microscope right now, but it's still your call. Who cares what other people think?”
You thought about it for a moment as you chewed.
“Yeah you’re right. I’m pretty sure it would be worse for us to tease it than just come out and tell everyone. I mean… you don’t think we’re moving too fast do you? Of course, I’ve never been in a real committed relationship before so I don’t really know what the normal speed is but… I don’t know,” you blurted.
“I don’t really know either. We’re in this boat together. Do you think it’s moving too fast?” he asked apologetically.
“No! No, I like the speed we’re moving, I just don’t want to be the one to scare you off.”
“Babe, I’ve told you before, I have liked you for so long that it would take a lot to run me away. I like this pace too. It’s our pace,” he reached over to grab your hand, rubbing his thumb over it.. “We’re doing things on our own time and that’s what matters, okay?”
“Yeah… yeah,” you breathed, then spoke in a normal volume. “I think we should go public. Everyone will get to gossip about us in their groupchats before school Monday and I’ll get to show everyone my incredible boyfriend.”
You both laughed at that last part.
“Well I am pretty incredible, aren’t I?”
%
You sat together in Tom’s car in your driveway picking through pictures to post on instagram.
Tom chose his cover photo to be one from homecoming night that his mom had taken of you two smiling at each other, along with the one from the date and a video he’d taken of you golfing. He captioned it “Been waiting too long to show off my lil disco ball” in reference to your silver dress.
You instead made your cover image one of him tossing you over his shoulder from your senior pictures and also added other pictures from the dance, homecoming parade, and your date. Your caption read “Finally decided to start dating my husband because married life just wasn’t cutting it,” knowing full well you’d get lots of surprised comments.
Both of you hit post and quickly turned over your phones so people could freak out while you talked some more. By now it was dark out (that darned winter sun) and the only light illuminating the car’s interior was from the moon and your house lights shining in.
You looked at Tom. Sure, you’d been on a few casual dates with guys before, whether it be a group thing where you and a guy just sat next to each other at the movie theatre, or maybe the one time you’d met a dude at the coffee shop only for him to freak out about you and Tom’s rivalry, or yeah, the foreign exchange student who’d asked you to freshman homecoming.
Either way, you didn’t really know how to end a date. So you mustered up the knowledge from every romcom and blurted out the one line every character seems to say:
“I had a really great time tonight.”
It’s true, you did. But, geez, could it be any more cliche? Tom smiled back at you.
“Oh yeah? I did too.”
“How is it that we were so awful to each other for years, but now I know that you’re one of the sweetest guys ever? I mean we were both total assholes,” you said, earning a laugh.
“The world works in mysterious ways, princess, but I realized a long time ago how incredible you are. It just took awhile for you to see it in me.”
“Why did you even like me? Obviously, yeah, you weren’t afraid to fire back, but what did you see when I was making passive aggressive comments and even sometimes actually insulting you?”
“It’s not hard to look past your tough shell and see who you really are inside, especially when we’ve been in the same classes and clubs and sports everyday for this long. When I look at you I see someone who is smart and beautiful and strong and funny and a million other things. That’s what I saw back then, too. I still can’t believe that you feel the same way about me. Since when did that happen?”
“Honestly, I have no idea. Consciously, I admitted it to myself, like, last weekend, but I’ve been denying it for a long time. I think I became aware of my feelings back when I got my period at your house and you were really cool about it. But I also think there’s a part of me hidden behind everything else that’s been attracted to you for years. I think that’s why our rivalry became this big thing between us.”
Tom hummed in response and reached to grab your hand, fingers interlacing.
“Well, whatever brought us here... I’m glad it did. I’m glad that I’m the one by your side through everything that’s gone on this semester and I hope things stay like that for quite a while.”
You both sat in silence for a while, just looking at each other much like you’d done that one evening in his room. After a while, you sat up to lean over the console and kiss him, your hands resting on his cheeks.
After your lips broke apart, his arms wrapped around your back and you snaked yours around him, too, resting your chin on his shoulder. With a little shifting, you were eventually sideways on his lap, legs stretched across the console and the passenger seat.
He started to press his lips to your neck when you gasped and stiffened. It was where Harrison had done the same thing. Tom immediately pulled his head away and squeezed your waist tighter.
“I’m sorry, I’m sorry. I forgot,” he whispered. You buried your face in the crook of his neck.
“It’s okay, it just. It’s still fresh. Try my shoulder.”
He moved the neck of your sweater a little and brushed some hair away, now kissing above your collarbone lightly. Eventually he moved up to your cheek and lips. After a while, you pulled away.
“You know I’d love to stay and do this for… ever, but I think I need to get inside and get some rest. I think Lex is coming over tomorrow. By the way, she mentioned that you guys made out at a party once?” you smirked. His eyes widened.
“Years, I mean years ago. I- I was drunk and basically imagined it was you and-”
You laughed at his small panic.
“It’s okay! She told me everything. I don’t blame her either. You’ve got some pretty kissable lips, Holland..”
He breathed a sigh of relief.
“I could say the same for you. And don’t tell her this, but I much prefer kissing you than her.”
%
You sat on your bed looking at yours and Tom’s instagram posts, reading the comments. Most everyone just said “knew it!” or “finally!”, but there were a few shocked commenters. Your dm’s were filled with people wanting you to spill tea, which you either ignored or gave a generic “we finally figured out we were right for each other” reply.
What stuck out to you was the text Grace sent you about it, reading:
Hey, y/n. I saw your post on instagram and just had to say that I can’t believe you and Tom actually got Harrison expelled just to turn around and start screwing each other (as if you weren’t already). Obviously I saw the damage on you, but he doesn’t deserve to have his high school experience ruined for that. I guess you two are meant for each other since you’re both snakes.
Your jaw dropped when you read her text and you were seeing red. After a few moments of contemplation, you realized something.
From the catcalling incident up until now, you realized how she had always seemed to defend Harrison for the smallest things. She liked him, and you were now the one responsible for “taking him away from her.”
It took you a few minutes to come up with a reply that wasn’t too mean and might prove her point about you, but you finally thought of something.
Look, Grace, I get it. You like Harrison and are pinning the responsibility of his expulsion on me, but he’s a dangerous person. He threatened to do a lot worse to me but luckily the right people were there to help me out. He’s the one who ruined his own experience by being a predator. As for Tom and I, we aren’t just “screwing around” and there’s a lot more to our relationship than what you or anyone else has seen and if you care to know about it why don’t you just be straight up and ask me? Now please, if you’re going to make unsubstantiated claims, at least do it to my face
In return came another angry reply that you just left on read. With that, you and Tom sent each other a goodnight and you let yourself fall into restless slumber.

The next day, Tom is chilling with Haz and Tuwaine.
“She was there yesterday.” Tom says. All three were mid-video game.
“Who?” Tuwaine asks.
“Rosalind.”
Almost immediately, Tuwaine pauses the game— much too soon for Harrison’s liking. “Fucking hell!” He throws the controller, nearly hitting Tom.
“Rosalind’s back from Paris?”
“Actually she was in New York.”
“Is she just back for the holidays?” Harrison asks. Tom shook his head, “I don’t think so. My mum said something about her being in a ballet company.”
“Well good for her.”
It gets quiet for a moment unto Tom speaks up once more. “I think I’m still in love with her.”
Harrison nods but says nothing, already knowing that Tom never stopped loving her.
“What are you doing about it?” Tuwaine asks.
Tom shrugs, “I can’t do anything. My brothers have basically banned me from it.”
“Well what happened at dinner? Did you even talk to her?”
“I couldn’t,” he runs his hands through his hair. “There was never time for a moment alone, and even if there was like two minutes, one of the twins took it from me.”
Harrison knows far too much about the situation to pay full attention, and instead suggests going out as a distraction. To which, Tom reluctantly agrees. Although Tuwain would rather Tom try to talk through his issue instead.
Tumblr media
The club is loud but not too crowded due to COVID
restrictions. In fact, the music was entirely too loud for the number of people in the building.
It’s nice at first. The alcohol and bouncing bodies distract him from his thoughts of his childhood crush.
The woman he dances with now almost looks like her, but without Rosalind’s freckles, green eyes, or grace.
Her hair is also a different color. Rosalind’s hair is a brunette color, and this woman’s hair is dyed burgundy. Her nose concave, but Rosalind has a Grecian nose— something she is, or was, insecure about, but Tom wouldn’t change it for the world.
This girl’s dancing was desperate and clumsy, a stark contrast to Rosalind’s disciplined coordination.
She puts her back to Tom’s chest and pulls his hands to her chest, then glides them down to her hips and thighs— one hand much lower and centered than the other. Tom could practically feel her clitoris under his fingertips.
She is certainly not the woman Tom wants to be touching like this, but they never are. Tom tries to find some pleasure in touching her, the way she wants him so desperately, how her ass finds into his crotch.
His eyes close as he tries so hard to see this girl the same way he sees Rosalind, but to no avail. The stranger doesn’t even notice when Tom slips away, his body being replaced with one just as eager as her’s.
He looks back for just a moment, and understands what a line meant in a movie he shot meant on a new level: “it’s just a little weird when you’re at the party with the girl on the table, fucking a ghost.”
He heads to the bar and asks for another brew. As he waits, he studies the bar tender as she mixes drinks, one way of trying to prepare for a role he’s meant to play in the coming year.
In a matter of minutes, he’s zoned out, thinking of the last time he saw Rosalind before leaving for carpentry school and not hearing from her for almost five years.
Tumblr media
At the age of 17 years old, Tom had completed his role in The Heart of the Sea, a movie he thought would be his big break simply because of some big names like Chris Hemsworth— instead, it just grew his ego the even bigger than the grinch’s heart by the end of the movie. He hadn’t known much about what Rosalind did during that time. He did know that the only two places she would go were school and ballet, she did anything she could to get into Paris Opera House Ballet School.
It had seemed like the only times Tom would test her was to ask for photos, not the instagram worthy photos, the photos that make you sweat when you sit at a church sermon for too long. He wanted to send her some back of him, but he’d lost an unhealthy amount of weight and Rosalind hated seeing him like that… it scared her. She was always worried that one day he might just pass out, out of nowhere. She sent him the photos when he asked, usually he’d reply with an ‘I love you’ or a ‘you’re so fucking hot, I miss you so much’ or even the occasional ‘I wish I was with you instead of here,’ but when he didn’t reply, she got insecure, just like any other girl her age. And it didn’t help that her classmates made comments about how often she ate, saying things like ‘Roz how is it that you are never full?’ One group of girls even said that she grazed like a cow. Rosalind knows that they didn’t understand she had a fast metabolism, and whatever excess calories she might have had would be burned off during her dance practices, and even Rosalind didn’t understand that her body needed her to eat as much as it could.
Tom had no clue about what was happening at school, and Rosalind didn’t want to tell him. If she’s being completely honest at that time, she didn’t even know if her would care.
He just seemed so excited about filming a movie with Chris Hemsworth, everything else just seemed so unimportant. And Rosalind was proud of him. He was fulfilling dreams, but part of her was also jealous.
Jealous that her boyfriend was off living the dream while she was busy being called fat and getting hit on and harassed by boys she barely knew.
Of course Tom would’ve dropped everything to make Rosalind feel better, which is one more reason not to tell him. She didn’t want a boyfriend that would make a husband and later, a father. She wanted someone she could be a teenager with.
Tom doesn’t remember much from the night they broke up, given the amount of alcohol he had consumed and the distraction of her body on his, which is why he had so much trouble coming to terms with it. What he remembers most, however, is her mental distance from her boyfriend.
“I’m so glad that I’m back here, love,” he said as he laid down next to her, “I wish I didn’t have to leave for carpentry school next week. At least we have now… ” he leans in for another kiss but she dodges.
“Im glad you’re back too…” she starts, “but we need to talk.”
Tom sits back up straight with his brows furrowed.
“Look,” she tries to sound calm as she breaks the news, “while you were filming, I had a recital—“ “I know, you got the lead for Giselle.” She takes a deep breath, “There were talent scouts there and I was offered a scholarship.”
Tom gets excited, “Darling! That’s incredible! I’m so proud of you!”
She sucks in a breath, “you didn’t let me finish… the scholarship is to Paris Opera House.”
Tom’s face drops a bit, “I thought wanted to go to Royal Ballet School? Here. In London?”
“Royal ballet was plan b. You know that I’ve always wanted to go to Paris.” She takes his hands in her own, but he pulls away and gets off the bed.
“What’s wrong with London?”
“Are you kidding? Tom, that’s like comparing London to LA for actors. It’s nice, but you learn a hell of a lot more in LA than London as an actor. I can’t believe you’re being such a dick! I thought you would be happy for me!”
“What about me? Am I supposed to wait until you turn 18 and then I just move to France for you?”
She waited for him to finish filming every single movie he’s been in. “I’ve been doing the same for you since you were in The Impossible. It’s not that big of a deal!”
“You’re asking me to give you my life!”
“The same way you asked me to do the same for you!”
“Yeah but in my career I’m not gonna have to retire by the time I’m thirty!” Tom knows he made a mistake as soon as those words left his lips.
Although it’s true that while women are the stars and symbol of the ballet industry, men are the ones who succeed in the industry. Women retire from the ballet industry by thirty-five on average, having made significantly less than their male counterparts. And male choreographers make more than females as well.
Rosalind’s jaw dropped and her eyes began to well. Tom takes a step toward her side of the bed. He extends a hand to her, but she pulls away and crosses her arms across her chest.
“Roz, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean—“
“No! Get the fuck out!”
“Roz—“
“I said get out you div! What the fuck is wrong with you! Get out of my house!”
Tom throws his head back to look at the ceiling before grabbing his bag.
“And don’t worry, Tom. You won’t have to worry about going to Paris, because we’re done.” She cries.
“And at least my career won’t turn me into some egocentric wanker who thinks they don’t have to try after they worked with one fucking name! No one gives a flying fuck that you worked with Chris Hemsworth! He sure as hell doesn’t!” She’s now screaming in her fit of anger.
“For future reference, you’re not big just because you worked with a big name, you’re big when big names know yours. Now fuck off, you wanker!”
Tom wants to say something— anything to keep her. But he loves her too much to keep her in a relationship with someone who hurt her.
After that fateful night, they never saw each other again. Tom wrote her notes, bought her flowers, but she never spoke to him again. So Tom threw himself into his work, which worked out for the best. If the two never broke up, Tom would have stayed in his hot headed era, letting his ego get the best of him. He might not have refined his talent to get his big break as Spider-Man. He has Rosalind to thank for his career, and she has him to thank for her trust issues.
Tumblr media
Tom has spent too many hours in his lifetime regretting what happened that night. And he’s doing it right now too. He barely even notices the guy next to him making advances at some poor girl until he gets the smell of her perfume, the same kind that she’s warn since she was a teenager, the same scent that’s been in Tom’s head since the two broke up.
“C’mon love, let’s get out of here and go back to my place.” The man nudged the woman. She stays calm and collected, “I already told you, I have plans in the morning, so I can’t. Maybe some other time.”
It’s Rosalind. Tom’s heart begins to race.
“Rozy, it’ll be fine. I’ll drive you to wherever you need tomorrow.”
“I’m sorry, Danny, but I can’t! I’m seeing an old family friend tomorrow. And besides, I’m just not sure you’re my type.” She laughs nervously.
“Oh ouch.” He laughs, “well then what is your type? Am I too tall for you?”
A dig at her last few relationships. Tom rolls his eyes.
“Danny just let it go. I’m not going home with you, you’re not going home with me. I have shit to do in the morning, and a dog to take care of when I get home.” She’s at another level of annoyed. Tom’s only ever seen Rosalind at this state twice before— when Harry cut the line and became the reason she had to wait an extra thirty minutes for a rollercoaster while he got to go ahead, and when someone got the dance solo she wanted and went all pick-me to Roz.
Danny continues to push and Rosalind continues to try to not sound like a bitch. The back and forth continues for another few minutes until Tom decides he’s had enough.
“Mate, she said she’s not going home with you. Give it a rest,” both Rosalind and Danny look over to see that it was who spoke up, Rosalind hadn’t even known he was at the club.
Tom sits there drinking a bottle of beer, not even looking at the couple.
Danny pops his neck, “I’m sorry, but this is none of your business, now is it bruv?”
Tom shrugs it off, “maybe not, but you made it this entire place’s problem when you decided to not let her fucking leave alone.”
Rosalind almost smiles— almost.
“Do you think that badgering her continually is gonna raise your chances of getting laid? Because I promise it won’t.”
Danny finally recognizes Tom, “Aren’t you Spider-Man?”
“Not right now.”
“Well come on, let’s go!” Danny puts his hands up. Tom just sighs, “You’re drunk, and you seem like you fight sloppy when you’re sober. I’m not gonna fight you.”
Rosalind finally speaks up, “Danny I’m leaving. Don’t call me.” She smiles sarcastically and walks away.
This time Tom follows close behind, “Roz, wait!”
She’s waiting for her coat.
“Don’t call me that! You lost that privilege.”
Tom puts his hands up in surrender, “I’m sorry—“
“And what the hell are you doing here, Tom? Did Sam tell you I would be here?”
“No, no. Sam didn’t tell me anything. I came with Haz.”
“Miss, here’s your coat.”
Rosalind takes her coat, “Look, Tom, I need to go.”
“Can I walk you home? I just feel like we have a lot to catch up on.”
She shrugs, “Sure.”
Tom asks the coatcheck for his. And the two walk out together.

The end of a tour was always a strange time. After so many weeks of living on the road with your closest friends, it was a shock to come back to reality. The end of this tour was especially hard, knowing it would be the last time you’d perform with your band for a while as you all took a well-deserved break.
Tom had witnessed the effect this had on you, and after spending a few days stroking your hair as you lay on the sofa binge-watching reality TV, letting you rest up he came to you with an idea. An escape from dribbly London, a holiday to celebrate and take your mind off of things. He suggested you invite the rest of the girls too, and once Harry, Harrison, and Tuwaine heard about the trip they were all too excited to crash it.
So here you were, the eight of you sprawled out underneath the blue Bali sky, listening to the gentle crashing of the waves and feeling the warmth of the sun beating down on your skin.
✧・゚: *✧・゚:*✧・゚: *✧・゚:*
The boys had eventually tackled each other into the ocean and you lay on a beach towel, surrounded by the rest of your band. In your relaxed state, you only half register the familiar giggle approaching your towel, accompanied with a grumbly, “watch it, Tom!” from Jade as he no doubt blocked her sunlight. Something cold and wet hit your shoulder, followed by a cascade of tiny drips pattering over your stomach and you shriek, opening your eyes to meet Tom’s crinkly ones as he stands above you, shaking out his wet curls over you.
“Toooooom!” you groan, shivering at the cold water.
“Y/NNNNNN!” he mocks, dropping down onto the sand next to you and wrapping an arm around your shoulders.
“What was that for?” you ask. “I was sunbathing.”
He shrugs.
“What’s the fun in having a girlfriend if you can’t bug the hell out of her?” he grins, knocking his forehead into yours.
You roll your eyes, inadvertently snuggling into his side. You can never stay annoyed at him for long.
“Anyway, I came over hear to ask you to play chicken with Tuwaine and I.” he says. “Otherwise I gotta have Harry on my team and he sucks at chicken.”
You snort into his shoulder, nodding.
“Harry does suck at chicken.”
Before you even have a chance to decide whether to play, Perrie is hopping up off her towel, grabbing your hand and pulling you to your feet.
“Pez!” you shriek as she tugs you towards the water, Tom laughing and jogging after the both of you. “What the hell is going on?”
“A game!” she cheers. “We have to hurry, I want to win!”
You wobble slightly, grabbing onto Tom as you try to stay on his shoulders with his arms wrapped around your legs.
“Ouch!” he screeches. “My ears, love, why are you grabbing my-”
“Oh shit,” you laugh, bending down to press a kiss to his red ears in apology and sticking your arms out for balance instead. “Sorry.”
“Come on!” calls Perrie as she approaches, balanced perfectly on Tuwaine’s shoulders. “Are you ready to loose?”
When you’re closer, you reach out and rest your hands on her shoulders and she copies your action.
“Ready?” calls Tuwaine.
“Three, two-”
Perrie gives an almighty shove before Tuwaine can even say one, sending Tom stumbling backwards and you sliding off his shoulders into the water.
“Perrie Edwards!” you shriek, coughing saltwater out. “He didn’t even get to one!”
Perrie laughs as she and Tuwaine high five. Tom has recovered at this point and wraps one arm around you as you stand up.
“Are you okay?” he laughs.
You nod, tapping his shoulders to signal him to crouch down. He obliges and you clamber back on determinedly. Tom puffs his chest out as you approach the other team, preparing to win this time.
“Is everyone ready this time?” laughs Tuwaine. “Alright. Three, two, one-”
“FIGHT!” you yell, pushing hard on both Perrie’s shoulders. She teeters backwards but regains her balance, pushing you back in retaliation. You both grapple with each other, and just as Tuwaine stumbles backward and you think that you and Tom have this one in the bag, she reaches out and pushes against your hip, pushing you off sideways.
You scream as you fly through the air, hitting the water with an almighty splash. You fall so forcefully you go right down to the blue bottom, scraping your knee against a particularly sharp shell. Before you can properly register what happened and resurface, a pair of strong arms reach down and pull you up into the sunlight. Tom gasps in relief, holding you close to chest bridal style as he checks you over.
“Darling! Are you alright?” he worries.
You nod, blinking against the harsh light and giggle slightly at his protective state.
“Tommy I’m fine! It’s not even that deep. I just got a shock, is all.”
Tom looks unconvinced and pouts as his eyes sweep over your legs.
“You’re bleeding, darling.” he says, gently holding your knee.
You glance down and see that he’s actually right. There’s a gash across your left knee and a steady stream of red blood streams out, fading into the clear ocean water. Perrie wades over, looking guilty.
“Y/N I’m so sorry babe! I got to competitive and you got hurt!”
You shake your head, pressing a kiss to her cheek.
“I’m fine you lot of worriers! It looks worse than it is, honestly it’s not deep. I’m fine.”
“I’m going to take you back up to the beach and have a look at it.” says Tom, wading out into the shallows. You roll your eyes but know you can’t stop him as he carries you up the beach, laying you on a towel near the rest of the group. Jade and Leigh-Anne have gone off somewhere and Harrison is out cold underneath his sunhat, but Harry shakes his head as Tom crouches over you, pressing tiny kisses to your knee and trying to wipe the remaining blood away, wincing whenever he looks to closely.
“This never would have happened if you’d let me play chicken, Tom.” Harry laughs.
Tom shoots him a death glare and Harry quietens, sensing how worried Tom is about you.
“Sorry,” he mutters, turning to you. “Seriously, are you okay Y/N?”
You reach out and playfully smack the redhead, rolling your eyes.
“For the last time, I’m fine! It’s literally a small cut and everyone’s acting like I’ve been partially beheaded or something.”
Harry snorts in laughter as he holds up his hands in surrender.
Tom leans over to someone’s large beach bag, searching for some kind of Band-Aid for you. He chucks items in his way behind him as he does so, a tube of sunscreen landing in the middle of Harrison’s stomach who wakes up with an “oof”.
“There’s nothing in here, darling.” Tom sighs. He stands up and reaches down, picking you up bridal style again. “I’m going to take you back to our room and we’ll find you something there.”
You nod, not even trying to protest as you know you won’t convince him.
Harrison sits up, blinking as he adjusts to the sunlight. He catches sight of Tom striding towards the hotel with you in his arms and frowns at Harry who only shrugs at him, opening up a trashy magazine you had left.
“Y/N!” calls Harrison. “Are you okay??”

“He didn’t swim into you on purpose, Y/N” sighs Leigh-Anne. “You just happened to snorkel right into his house, that’s all.” She tries to reassure you as you all crowd around a table in a tiny restaurant, you cosying up in the corner of the booth between her and Tom.
“I saw the bloodlust in his tiny fishy eyes, Leigh,” you say, shuddering at the memory of only a few hours ago. “He had an evil plan.”
Tom picks up his fork and brandishes it at invisible fish all around your table. “Back off!” he barks. “Back off, say I! Away from my girlfriend!”
You grab his fork, placing it down on the table and knocking your head into his shoulder as you try so hard to stay serious at his childish antics.
“Tom!” you hiss. “You’re making a scene.”
He shrugs.
“I’m an actor darling, it’s what I do. The other thing I do is protect my wonderful girlfriend against supervillain fish plotting against her.”
It’s at this moment that there is a simultaneous lull in everyone else’s conversations and all six heads turn to look at you and Tom, blinking for a second before bursting out in laughter.
“Evil supervillain fish?” splutters Jade, as Tom buries his head in your shoulder.
“You all heard it out of context,” he mutters sheepishly.
You’re deep in a conversation with Leigh-Anne about a recent performance when you notice Tom has been uncharacteristically quiet. You turn to see him leaning away from you, seemingly invested in a photo Perrie’s showing him on her phone. Looking closer, you see she’s proudly showing him pictures of baby Axel. “Oh, and look at this one with him and Hatchi,” she coos.
Tom gives ‘oohs’ and ‘aahs’ in all the right places, nodding and grinning with his eyes trained on the phone but he drums his fingers on the table, fidgeting and shifting in his seat. Before you can ask if he’s okay, you’re all distracted by the food arriving. Once everyone’s started eating you lean into his side and put your mouth near his ear.
“Hey,” you whisper, conversation drowned out to the rest of the group by the chatter of everyone else. “Are you okay? Did Perrie ambush you with baby photos?”
He laughs softly, resting a hand on top of yours.
“Don’t worry about me, love. Just seeing all the baby photos, it got me thinking and excited for the future.” he whispers.
Your heart skips a beat and he grins properly, pressing a kiss to your head. He gives you one last smile before tucking into his meal.
“Oh my God,” he moans. “This is fucking incredible! Darling, you have to try some.”
He scoops up some of his meal on his fork, twisting in his seat and placing his free hand under your chin so he can feed you a mouthful. He’s not wrong, the food is absolutely incredible and is made even better when you’re surrounded by your best friends in the world. The sweet moment is interrupted by Harry and Jade making gagging sounds and pretending to be sick from their end of the table as they try to glare at you and Tom, but neither can hide the shine in their eyes as they watch you two.
As the night grows dark and the group is only illuminated by the colorful lanterns hanging above the table, Jade taps her knife against her glass, waiting until the whole table is watching attentively. Jade clears her throat.
“Before we leave tonight, I want to raise a toast. Or maybe a few toasts, so we might need to get some more to drink over here. Firstly, I want to toast to the girls.” She glances around at you all, eyes shining. You can already feel yourself welling up and Leigh-Anne clasps your hand under the table for comfort. “You girls have been the best sisters for the last ten years. We couldn’t have done any of this without each other, and I’m so proud of everything we’ve achieved. Seven incredible albums, the tours, the awards, the music videos, the performances, the fans we’ve met, winning Best British Group-” you all cheer, Tuwaine reaching two fingers up to his mouth to whistle and Tom wrapping an arm around you and squeezing you into his side -“but most of all, our friendship,” Jade continues. “I think it’s fair to say that our friendship has gotten us through the last ten years together, and I just wanted to tell you all how much I appreciate you lot. I love you.” she sniffles, raising her glass. “To Little Mix!”
“To Little Mix!” you all chorus, clinking your glasses and wiping away stray tears.
“I’ve got a toast too, because I don’t think Jade can get through another one,” laughs Perrie, holding Jade as she sniffles and hiccups slightly. “I want to raise a toast to Tom and Y/N. Now, Y/N.” she begins. “We’ve always been a little protective over you, though God knows you don’t need it, really. I know we tend to tease you and Tom a lot for having absolutely zero boundaries and piling on the PDA when you’re together, but it’s only because we love you both so much. It’s been an honor to watch you fall in love, bub.” she says.
“And to have been the three co-authors of every text Tom received from you for the first six months of your relationship.” adds Leigh-Anne, knocking her shoulder into yours.
“Wait, what?” Tom laughs.
“Mind you though Tom, Little Mix will reassemble to commit a felony if you ever hurt her,” pipes in Jade.
“To Tom and Y/N,” cheers Perrie, ignoring him and raising her glass. “For being Tom and Y/N!”
Tom buries his hand in his jacket that he’d tucked around your shoulders when it had started to get colder and rests his head on top of yours, basking in the moment with you.
“And for paying for this trip!” cheers Harry.

Announcement & Nathan Drake Fic Continuation Update
Hey all! Thank you for the support and sending in requests! Requests are on a temporary closure right now so I can catch up and also get back to the Nathan Drake fic you guys liked. Speaking of;
I haven’t posted a second part yet because I’ve been working 50+hrs a week and also traveling a lot. I’m sorry there’s no part 2 yet, but it seems my other fics and requests are holding you over for now 🥰
I will post a part 2 soon! I’m heading out of the state for a wedding tomorrow so it might not be right away but I’m planning on posting part 2 by the end of next week 🤞 and then I want to try to get a flexible schedule going for it moving forward.
Other requests and notes:
I mentioned they are temporarily closed but of course you can send them in still just be aware they are going to be on hold for awhile so don’t expect a response right away due to the request closure.
I have prompts shared on my page if you want to use those and give me a character or person I can probably do a quick blurb/request easier with those until I reopen the general requests. (Message me if you need help finding prompts!)
Otherwise, please feel free to come to my inbox and say hi! This can be via asks or private message. I love meeting you all and love little daily check ins or news on your days, etc. 💕 you can also send me questions you want me to answer, or anything else!
Thank you again!💝
